Introduction: Hypertension (HBP) is a highly prevalent chronic disease and represents an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Objectives: To assess the effects of a program of physical exercise on blood pressure and maximum oxygen consumption levels in a hypertensive population. Methods: A sample of 30 women with hypertension, age over 60 years, clinically stable was selected. In the evaluation of the sample, variables were measured blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), VO2 max. The sample was divided into two groups: CG (n=15) and EG (n=15).
