The production of biomethane from swine manure has grown in recent years in Brazil and worldwide. This increase causes impact and the need to change legislation and alternatives based on research to improve techniques and mechanisms for the use of waste, in a sustainable manner and with proper disposal. In the west of Paraná, there has been growing interest in the development of the potential for generating biogas and electricity from swine waste by swine farmers, as well as by entrepreneurs of bioenergy production plants. There are three Plants that are in operation where they develop in this region the production of biogas, electricity and biofertilizer, using swine waste as one of the raw materials. We highlight the systems most used by pig farmers on farms, with the treatment of waste, manure and pig carcasses on farms and the products generated with proper processing, such as biogas and biofertiizante. Thus, this work will address the ways of use of waste generated by pig farming projects, based on environmental legal aspects, doctrinal references to the subject, research in the Environmental Management System - SGA and field research which includes, among other points, licensed pig farming activities and those that are in process of licensing by the Instituto Água e Terra. The SGA-IAT, as a research tool, presents the Environmental Control Plans for licensed pig farming activities with the treatments used in each project and the proper use of the waste generated. In addition to the elaboration of a booklet called “Booklet: Systems for the use of carcasses and swine manure on farms”,. which will address in a simplified way the advantages and disadvantages of treatment systems and use of these residues on farms, seeking to make pig farmers aware of the importance of technologies for an increasingly sustainable production on rural properties. No Brasil, o sistema atual de produção de suínos caracteriza-se pelo intensivo,onde há uma alta densidade de animais e volume de dejetos, concentrados em sua maioria em pequenas propriedades rurais. A produção de biometano proveniente de dejetos de suínos tem crescido nos últimos anos no Brasil e no mundo. Esse aumento causa impacto e necessidade de alteração das legislações e alternativas com base em pesquisas para aprimoramento das técnicas e mecanismos para o aproveitamento dos resíduos, de forma sustentável e com destinação adequada. No Oeste do Paraná vem crescendo o interesse para o desenvolvimento do potencial de geração de biogás e energia elétrica com os dejetos de suínos pelos suinocultores, bem como de empreendedores de Usinas de produção de bioenergia. Destacam-se três Usinas que estão em funcionamento nessa região, com a produção de biogás, energia elétrica e biofertilizante, utilizando como uma das matérias prima os dejetos de suínos. Foca-se também nos sistemas mais utilizados pelos suinocultores nas granjas, com o tratamento dos resíduos, esterco e carcaças de suínos nas granjas e os produtos gerados com o devido processamento como o biogás e o biofertiizante. Deste modo, este trabalho abordou as formas de aproveitamento dos resíduos gerados pelos empreendimentos de suinocultura, com fundamentação nos aspectos legais ambientais, referências doutrinárias ao tema, pesquisa no Sistema de Gestão Ambiental – SGA e pesquisas de campo que consta entre outros pontos, as atividades de suinoculturas licenciadas e as que estão em processos de licenciamento pelo Instituto Água e Terra. O SGA-IAT, como ferramenta de pesquisa, apresenta os Planos de Controle Ambientais das atividades de suinoculturas licenciadas com os tratamentos utilizados de cada empreendimento e o devido aproveitamento dos resíduos gerados. Além da elaboração de cartilha denominada “Cartilha: Sistemas de aproveitamento de carcaças e esterco de suínos nas granjas”,. que abordou de forma simplificada as vantagens e desvantagens dos sistemas de tratamento e aproveitamento desses resíduos nas granjas, buscando sensibilizar os suinocultores da importância das tecnologias para uma produção cada vez mais sustentável na propriedade rural.

Usually, conventional methods are applied to obtain its extracts, which most of the time are expensive and deleterious to the bioactive compounds. In this context, the present research project aims at investigating different methods of obtention of the M. aquifolia leaves extract through Soxhlet (SOX), pressurized-liquid (PLE), ultrasound-assisted (UAE), supercritical CO2 (SFE), and SFE with cosolvents extractions, evaluating the yield and the quality of the extracts obtained, regarding their chemical composition, total phenolics content (TPC), and antioxidant activity. The PLE (30 min and 100 bar) and SOX (360 min) were performed at temperatures 40, 50, and 60 °C and in the boiling temperatures of the solvent’s ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane, respectively. In the PLE, the highest yields were 5.29%, 3.13%, and 2.05% with ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane, respectively, obtained at 60 °C. SOX conventional technique was effective when performed with ethanol, reaching a yield of 8.30% in weight. These techniques evidenced the affinity of the compounds by polar solvents and improvement of the yields with temperature increase. From these data, ethanol was selected to continue with UAE, in which a Box-Behnken experimental design was used to investigate the variables temperature (40, 50, and 60 °C), sonication amplitude (20, 50, and 80%), and solvent/leaf ratio (10, 15, and 20 mL g-1) for a total period of 30 min. The combination of the adopted parameters (50 °C, amplitude 80%, and solvent/leaf ratio 20 mL g-1) resulted in a maximum yield of 6.57% in weight, obtained at a reduced time, temperature, and solvent volume when compared to SOX and PLE techniques. In the SFE-CO2, the variables investigated were pressure (200, 250, and 300 bar), temperature (40, 50, and 60 oC), and flow (2, 4, and 6 mL min-1), following a experimental design in a total time of 100 min. The highest yield of extract was 1.13%, obtained in the condition 50 °C, 300 bar, and 6 mL min-1. In this condition, the effects of the addition of 1, 3, and 5% V V-1 of the cosolvents ethanol and ethyl acetate were investigated, reaching the highest yields 1.13% and 1.06% in weight, respectively, in the concentration 5%, but not higher than the highest yield obtained with pure CO2. The adjustments of the Sovová model to the kinetics curves of SFE showed a high level of accuracy. The TPC estimate was higher in the ethanolic extracts in UAE (402.33 mg EAG gext-1), followed by PLE (325 mg EAG gext-1), SOX (237.40 mg EAG gext-1), and SFE (18.21 mg EAG gext-1). The highest antioxidant activity determined by the DPPH method was observed in the ethanolic extract obtained in the PLE (1014.01 μmol TEQ gext-1) and by the FRAP method the ethanol extract obtained by UAE (4237.60 μmol Fe2+ gext-1). The characterization of the chemical composition revealed the presence of compounds of great interest, being the majority squalene, vitamin E, friedelin, and friedelanol. The quantification of vitamin E and friedelin was higher in the extracts obtained in the PLE with ethyl acetate. Generally, the unconventional methods were superior to the conventional method, presenting improved chemical composition, TPC, and antioxidant activities. A espinheira santa (Monteverdia aquifolia) é uma planta medicinal, nativa da América do Sul, seus extratos apresentam em sua composição substâncias bioativas, coadjuvantes no tratamento de diversas moléstias. Geralmente, os métodos convencionais são aplicados para obtenção de seus extratos, os quais muitas vezes são onerosos e deletérios aos compostos bioativos. Dentro deste contexto, o presente projeto de pesquisa visa investigar os diferentes métodos de obtenção dos extratos das folhas de M. aquifolia, via extração Soxhlet, líquido pressurizado, assistido por ultrassom, supercrítica com CO2 e supercríticas com cossolventes, examinando o rendimento e a qualidade dos extratos obtidos, quanto ao teor de fenólicos, atividade antioxidante e composição química. As extrações com líquido pressurizado (30 min e 100 bar) e Soxhlet (360 min) foram realizadas nas temperaturas de 40, 50 e 60 °C e nas tempetaruras de ebulição dos solventes etanol, acetato de etila e n-hexano, respectivamente. Nas extrações com os solventes pressurizado os maiores rendimentos foram 5,29%, 3,13% e 2,05% com etanol, acetato de etila e n-hexano, nesta ordem, obtidos a 60 °C. A técnica convencional Soxhlet foi efetiva quando realizada com etanol, alcançando um rendimento de 8,30% em peso. Essas técnicas demonstraram a afinidade dos compostos das folhas por solventes polares e o aprimoramento da extração com a elevação da temperatura. A partir desses resultados, o etanol foi selecionado para seguir com as extrações assistidas por ultrassom, na qual, um planejamento Box-Behnken foi empregado para investigar as variáveis temperaturas (40, 50 e 60 °C), amplitude de sonicação (20, 50 e 80%) e razão solvente/ folha (10, 15 e 20 mL g-1) por um tempo total de 30 min. A combinação entre os parâmetros adotados (50 °C, 80% de amplitude e 20 mL g-1 razão solvente/folha) resultou em um rendimento máximo de 6,57% em peso, obtido em um tempo, temperatura e volume de solvente reduzidos, quando comparados as técnicas Soxhlet e com os solventes pressurizados. As extrações com CO2 supercrítico as variáveis investigadas foram pressão (200, 250 e 300 bar), temperatura (40, 50 e 60 °C) e vazão (2, 4 e 6 mL min-1), seguindo um planejamento Box-Behnken, em um tempo total de 100 min. O maior rendimento de 1,13% obtidos em extrato foi na condição de 50 °C, 300 bar e 6 mL min-1. Nessa condição, os efeitos da adição 1, 3 e 5% V V-1 dos cossolventes etanol e acetato de etila foram examinados, alcançando os maiores rendimentos na concentração de 5% de 1,13% e 1,06% em peso, respectivamente, não superando o maior rendimento obtido com CO2 puro. O ajuste do modelo de Sovová as curvas cinéticas de extração supercrítica mostraram um alto grau de acurácia. A estimativa do conteúdo fenólico total foi maior nos extratos etanólicos nas extrações assistida por ultrassom (402,33 mg EAG gext-1), seguida da extração pressurizada (325 mg EAG gext-1), Soxhlet (237,40 mg EAG gext-1) e SFE (18,21 mg EAG gext-1). A maior atividade antioxidante determinada pelo método DPPH foi observado no extrato etanólico obtido na extração com o solvente pressurizado (1014,01 μmol TEQ gext-1) e pelo método FRAP no extrato etanólicos obtido na extração assistida por ultrassom (4237,60 μmol Fe2+ gext-1). A caracterização da composição química realizada, revelou a presença de compostos de grande interesse, sendo os majoritários esqualeno, vitamina E, friedelina e friedelanol. A quantificação de vitamina E e friedelina foi maior nos extratos obtidos nas PLE com AcEt. De modo geral, os métodos não convencionais foram superiores em relação ao método convencional, apresentando uma composição química, conteúdo fenólico e atividade antioxidantes aprimoradas.

Usually, in the treatment of this wastewater, inorganic coagulants are used. However, coagulants from natural sources have stood out for presenting advantages in the economic and environmental scope compared to conventional ones. In this context, the present study aimed at evaluating the efficiency of the coagulation/flocculation/sedimentation process using the protein extract of the Moringa seed as a natural coagulant in association with magnetic nanoparticles (bionanoparticles) in the treatment of the raw effluent of a poultry and pork slaughtering and processing industry. Initially, effluent turbidity removal was evaluated when employing saline solutions (KCl and CaCl2) and aqueous solution in the preparation of the Moringa coagulant extrat, and, after that, it was determined the most efficient Moringa dosage in the removal of the same parameter. After the preliminary studies, magnetic nanoparticles and bionanoparticles (BioNPs) were synthesized, and the best conditions for the treatment were defined (mass of nanoparticles used in the BioNPs preparation, coagulant dosage and sedimentation time) evaluating the turbidity and UV254nm removal. Samples of the raw effluent and the treated one were employed in the microbial load and phytotoxicity with the Lactuca sativa bioindicator. Also, the efficiency of the process was evaluated after the reuse of the nanoparticles. In the preliminary study it was identified that the 0.1 M CaCl2 solution and the 750 mg L-1 dosage of Moringa were the most efficient in removing turbidity (91.38%). For the BioNPs use, the best conditions were determined being 60 mg of nanoparticles, 500 mg L-1 of BioNPs and 10 minutes of sedimentation under the influence of an external magnetic field (96.14% turbidity removals and 43.63% UV254nm removals). The use of BioNPs enabled the reduction of the sedimentation time from 2.33 h to 10 min in comparison to Moringa. After the treatment, it was observed high removals of the microbial load of the effluent. In addition, the treated effluent did not inhibit the growth of the Lactuca sativa plant. The reuse of the nanoparticles proved to be efficient, since, after three regeneration cycles, there was a low variation in the removal of turbidity and UV254nm. It is concluded that the BioNPs are efficient for the primary treatment of the slaughterhouse effluent, and additionally, they present advantages such as the reduction of the microbial load, reuse of the nanoparticles and non-toxicity. A indústria de abate de animais e processamento de carnes é responsável por gerar grandes quantidades de efluentes contendo altas cargas de contaminantes. Geralmente, no tratamento desta água residuária são utilizados coagulantes inorgânicos. Porém, coagulantes de fontes naturais vêm se destacando por apresentar vantagens no âmbito econômico e ambiental em relação aos convencionais. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho objetivou avaliar a eficiência do processo de coagulação/floculação/sedimentação utilizando como coagulante natural o extrato proteico da semente de Moringa oleífera em associação com nanopartículas magnéticas (bionanopartículas) no tratamento do efluente bruto de uma indústria frigorífica. Inicialmente avaliou-se as remoções de turbidez do efluente ao empregar soluções salinas (KCl e CaCl2) e solução aquosa no preparo do extrato coagulante de Moringa, e em seguida, determinou-se a dosagem de Moringa mais eficiente na remoção do mesmo parâmetro. Após os estudos preliminares, realizou-se a síntese das nanopartículas magnéticas e das bionanopartículas (BioNPs), e definiu-se as melhores condições para o tratamento (massa de nanopartícula utilizada no preparo das BioNPs, dosagem de coagulante e tempo de sedimentação) avaliando as remoções de turbidez e UV254nm. Amostras de efluente bruto e tratado foram empregadas nas análises da carga microbiana e de fitotoxicidade com o bioindicador Lactuca sativa. Também, avaliou-se a eficiência do processo após o reúso das nanopartículas. No estudo preliminar identificou-se que a solução 0,1 M de CaCl2 e a dosagem de 750 mg L-1 de Moringa foram os mais eficientes na remoção de turbidez (91,38%). Para o uso das BioNPs determinou-se as melhores condições sendo de 60 mg de nanopartículas, dosagem de 500 mg L-1 de BioNPs e 10 minutos de sedimentação sob influência de um campo magnético externo (remoções de 96,14% de turbidez e 43,63% de UV254nm). O uso das BioNPs possibilitou a diminuição do tempo de sedimentação de 2,33 h para 10 min em relação à Moringa. Após o tratamento, foram observadas elevadas remoções na carga microbiana do efluente. Além disso, o efluente tratado não apresentou inibição ao crescimento da planta Lactuca sativa. O reúso das nanopartículas se mostrou eficiente, pois, após três ciclos de regeneração observou-se uma baixa variação na remoção de turbidez e de UV254nm. Conclui-se que as BioNPs são eficientes para o tratamento primário do efluente da indústria frigorífica, e adicionalmente, apresentam vantagens como, a redução da carga microbiana, reaproveitamento das nanopartículas e a não toxicidade.

In this context, biogas production has increasingly gained the attention of researchers, who have mainly aimed at optimizing the process through the codidigestion of two or more waste. Despite the significant increase in biogas and methane production provided by the addition of glycerol to agroindustrial residues when subjected to anaerobic biodigestion, few studies are directed to the production of hydrogen using this residue. Thus, the present study evaluated the anaerobic biodigestion in two stages of Manipueira with the addition of residual glycerol, aiming to maximize the production of hydrogen and methane. In this study we used inoculum of residual swine water, which was evaluated by the isolation of anaerobic microorganisms, DNA extraction and genetic sequencing, revealing that this inoculum contained bacteria of the genus Brevundimonas, from the subgroup Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus Cereus, and one of the species Bacillus licheniformis. For the study of gas production, a 32 factorial design was delineated aiming to evaluate the effects of glycerol temperature and concentration on the production of hydrogen and methane, and it was verified that the addition of glycerol provided an increase in the production of Hydrogen. While the production of hydrogen in the treatments without the addition of glycerol ranged from 215.1 to 243.5 mL, in the best conditions obtained in this study (4% of glycerol and temperature of 38.5 oC), the production was 1102.6 mL, an increment higher than 400%. The effluent analysis of these treatments evidenced the need for additional treatment. Thus, a two-stage biodigestion study was carried out, which employs the use of physically separated acidogenic and methanogenic reactors. At this stage the methane production was optimized, evaluating the effects of temperature in the range between 36.0 and 39.0 oC and the concentration of sodium bicarbonate (between 2.0 and 6.0 gL-1), which was added to the effluent of a pilot-scale acidogenic biodigester with volume of 50 L and operating in the optimized conditions of hydrogen production. The ideal conditions for the methanogenic stage were at a temperature of 39.0 oC and a concentration of sodium bicarbonate of 5.0 gL-1. In these conditions, the removal of COD was 93.4%, and biogas was produced with 64.5% of methane, which resulted in a volume of 2819.4 mL of this biofuel. Thus, the use of two-stage biodigestion made it possible to maximize both hydrogen and methane production, and 861.4 mLH2 and 1762.1 mLCH4 were obtained for each liter of treated waste. Thus, it is concluded that the substrates and inoculum used in the study are adequate to the anaerobic biodigestion process, and can contribute to the reduction of dependence on fossil energy sources. No Brasil, embora a maior parte da demanda energética ser suprida por meio de energia hidrelétrica, o estudo e otimização de outras fontes renováveis de energia tem crescido devido à preocupação com o grande impacto local causado pela instalação desses empreendimentos, além da constante baixa dos níveis dos reservatórios de água observados nos últimos anos. Neste contexto, a produção de biogás vem ganhando cada vez mais a atenção de pesquisadores, que tem visado principalmente a otimização do processo através da codigestão de dois ou mais resíduos. Apesar do incremento significativo da produção de biogás e metano proporcionado pela adição de glicerol a resíduos agroindustriais quando submetidos a biodigestão anaeróbia, poucos estudos são direcionados a produção de hidrogênio utilizando este resíduo. Assim, o presente trabalho avaliou a biodigestão anaeróbia em dois estágios da manipueira com adição de glicerol residual, visando maximizar a produção de hidrogênio e metano. Neste estudo foi utilizado inóculo de água residual de suinocultura, que foi avaliado pelo isolamento dos microrganismos anaeróbios, extração do DNA e sequenciamento genético, revelando que este inóculo continha bactérias do gênero Brevundimonas, do subgrupo Bacillus subtilis e Bacillus cereus, e uma da espécie Bacillus licheniformis. Para o estudo da produção de gás, delineou-se planejamento fatorial 32 visando avaliar os efeitos da temperatura e concentração de glicerol na produção de hidrogênio, e o efeito da temperatura e adição de bicarbonato de sódio, um agente tamponante, na produção de metano. Verificou-se que a adição de glicerol proporcionou um aumento da produção de hidrogênio. Enquanto a produção de hidrogênio nos tratamentos sem a adição de glicerol variou de 215,1 a 243,5 mL, nas melhores condições obtidas neste estudo (4% de glicerol e temperatura de 38,5 oC), a produção foi de 1102,6 mL, um incremento superior a 400 % quando comparados aos tratamentos sem adição deste resíduo. A análise dos efluentes destes experimentos evidenciou a necessidade de um tratamento adicional. Desta forma, foi realizado o estudo da biodigestão em dois estágios, que emprega o uso de reatores acidogênico e metanogênico separados fisicamente. Nesta etapa foi otimizada a produção de metano, avaliando os efeitos da temperatura na faixa entre 36,0 e 39,0 oC e da concentração de bicarbonato de sódio (entre 2,0 e 6,0 gL-1), que foi adicionado ao efluente de um biodigestor acidogênico de escala piloto com volume útil de 50 L e que operava nas condições otimizadas de produção de hidrogênio. As melhores condições obtidas para o estágio metanogênico foram em temperatura de 39,0 oC e concentração de bicarbonato de sódio de 5,0 gL-1. Nestas condições, a remoção de DQO foi de 93,4 %, sendo produzido biogás com 64,5 % de metano, o que resultou em um volume de 2819,4 mL deste biocombustível. Desta forma, o emprego da biodigestão em dois estágios tornou possível maximizar a tanto a produção de hidrogênio quanto a de metano, sendo obtidos 861,4 mLH2 e 1762,1 mLCH4 a cada litro de resíduo tratado. Assim, conclui-se que os substratos e inóculo empregados no estudo são adequados ao processo de biodigestão anaeróbia, e podem contribuir para a redução da dependência das fontes fósseis de energia.

In addition, they can be very polluting due to the high organic load typical from these industries and the chemicals used. One of the alternatives for the treatment, advantageous for its simplicity, is coagulation and flocculation. Natural coagulants have been receiving attention because they are less expensive and toxic than conventional inorganic ones. Thus, coagulation and flocculation were studied using alginate extracted from the algae Sargassum filipendula, the seeds from the Moringa oleifera Lam and the iron magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with Moringa extract as coagulants for the removal of color and turbidity. The study of the alginate coagulant involved several concentrations at 3 pHs. For the Moringa seed coagulant, the use of different salts (NaCl, KCl, MgCl2 and CaCl2) was investigated in its preparation compared to its aqueous extract at pH 9 and in its natural pH. It was verified the salt concentration in the preparation of the extract and, finally, the sedimentation kinetics was investigated in the best condition obtained. The iron nanoparticles were functionalized with the best extract obtained for the Moringa seeds and had their study similar to the seeds themselves. The alginate and the Moringa aqueous extract were not satisfactory. Among the extraction salts, the one that provided the best results was the calcium chloride, used in the subsequent steps. Results of 92% of turbidity removal and 86% of color removal with Moringa concentration of 1000 mg L-1 extracted with 0,4 M solution of CaCl2 with 60 minutes of sedimentation were achieved. Under similar conditions of concentration, plus 50 mg L-1 of nanoparticles and sedimentation in external magnetic field, similar results of turbidity and color removals, 88% and 89%, respectively, were obtained in only 7 minutes of sedimentation. The phytotoxicity bioassays with the Lactuca sativa bioindicator demonstrated that the treatment does not alter the toxicity of the effluent. Thus, it was concluded that the nanoparticles functionalized with Moringa saline extract in CaCl2 represents an efficient primary treatment because it provides good results in a very short sedimentation time, in addition to being demonstrated that the nanoparticles can be recovered after the treatment by sludge regeneration. O efluente proveniente do CIP, sistema de higienização, representa uma grande parcela do total de águas residuárias dos laticínios. Além disso, podem ser muito poluentes devido à alta carga orgânica característica dessas indústrias e aos produtos químicos utilizados. Uma das alternativas para o seu tratamento, vantajosa pela simplicidade, é a coagulação e a floculação. Coagulantes naturais vêm recebendo atenção por serem menos onerosos e tóxicos que os convencionais inorgânicos. Dessa forma, estudou-se a coagulação e a floculação utilizando o alginato extraído da alga Sargassum filipendula, a semente da Moringa oleifera Lam e as nanopartículas magnéticas de ferro funcionalizadas com extrato de Moringa como coagulantes para a remoção de cor e turbidez. O estudo do coagulante alginato envolveu diversas concentrações em 3 pHs. Para o coagulante de sementes de Moringa, investigou-se o uso de diferentes sais (NaCl, KCl, MgCl2 e CaCl2) no seu preparo em comparação ao seu extrato em meio aquoso no pH 9 e no pH natural do efluente. Verificou-se a influência da concentração de sal no preparo do extrato e, por fim, investigou-se a cinética de sedimentação na melhor condição obtida. As nanopartículas de ferro foram sintetizadas e então funcionalizadas com o melhor extrato obtido para as sementes de Moringa e tiveram seu estudo semelhante aos das sementes propriamente ditas. O alginato e o extrato aquoso de Moringa não foram satisfatórios. Dentre os sais de extração, o que proporcionou melhores resultados foi o cloreto de cálcio, utilizado nas etapas subsequentes. Alcançou-se resultados de 92% de remoção de turbidez e 86% de remoção de cor com concentração de Moringa de 1000 mg L- 1 extraída com solução 0,4 M, de CaCl2 com 60 minutos de sedimentação. Em condições iguais de concentração, acrescido de nanopartículas (50 mg para cada 20 mL de extrato de Moringa) e sedimentação em campo magnético externo, obteve-se resultados semelhantes de remoções de turbidez e cor, 88% e 89%, respectivamente, em apenas 7 minutos de sedimentação. Os bioensaios de fitotoxicidade com o bioindicador Lactuca sativa demonstraram que o tratamento não altera a toxicidade do efluente. Dessa forma, concluiu-se que as nanopartículas funcionalizadas com extrato de Moringa salina em CaCl2 representam um eficiente tratamento primário por proporcionar bons resultados em um tempo muito reduzido de sedimentação, além de ser demonstrado que as nanopartículas podem ser recuperadas após o tratamento pela regeneração do lodo.

First, a conventional biological treatment was performed, consisting of a decantation step, with centrifugation at 5000 rpm for 15 min, followed by aerobic treatment with activated sludge conducted at 2.4±0.1 mg mg-1 (BOD5/MLSS) and 0.57±0.04 vvm (L L-1 min-1) for 40 h. In parallel, a central composite rotatable design (CCRD) was applied to evaluate the effect of the main variables of the photo-Fenton process (hydrogen peroxide concentration, ferrous ion concentration and initial pH). Based on the experimental design, quadratic models of (%) removal of COD and BOD5 were proposed and validated, making it possible to search for the optimal operating conditions of the photo-Fenton process. By the Zahn Wellens test and BOD5/COD ratio it was possible to identify the Fenton reaction time most suitable for the combination with the biological treatment. Then, the photo-Fenton process optimized with treatment time of 120 min was combined with the biological process, performed at 1.57±0.06 vvm and 4.4±0.3 mg mg-1 (BOD5/MLSS) for 150 h. After the treatments, the toxicity of the leachate was evaluated with Artemia salina and Lactuca sativa. The results showed a removal of 87±2% of COD and 84±2% of BOD5 from the leachate after conventional biological treatment, while the photo-Fenton process under optimal conditions (3400 mg H2O2 L-1, 80 mg Fe2+ L-1, pH = 2.40 and 120 min) removed 89±3% COD and 75±1% BOD5. On the other hand, with the combined treatment, 98% of COD and 98% of BOD5 were removed, resulting in a leachate that meets the restrictive standards imposed by state legislation. In addition, the simple and conjugated aromatic compounds were efficiently removed, achieving removal rates of 93 – 96%. In the evaluation of leachate toxicity with Artemia salina, the highest LD50 value was obtained in the combined treatment (LD50 of 0.5364), while conventional photo-Fenton and biological treatments showed statistically equal LD50 values. For Lactuca sativa, the lowest toxicity indices of the leachate were obtained after the combined and photo-Fenton treatments, with LD50 values around 0.945. Thus, in addition to the proven efficiency of removal of the organic load, the combined treatment also reduced the toxicity of the effluent, being environmentally recommended for the treatment of landfill leachate. O objetivo deste trabalho é a combinação dos processos foto-Fenton e biológico para o tratamento do lixiviado de aterro sanitário. Primeiramente, um tratamento biológico convencional foi realizado, o qual consistiu em um etapa de decantação, com centrifugação à 5000 rpm por 15 min, seguida pelo tratamento aeróbio com lodo ativado conduzido a 2,4±0,1 mg mg-1 (DBO5/MLSS) e 0,57±0,04 vvm (L L-1 min-1) por 40 h. Em paralelo, um delineamento composto central rotacional (DCCR) foi aplicado para a avaliação do efeito das principais variáveis do processo foto-Fenton (concentração de peróxido de hidrogênio, concentração de íons ferrosos e pH inicial). Com base no planejamento experimental, modelos quadráticos de (% de remoção de DQO e DBO5) foram propostos e validados, podendo ser utilizados para a busca das condições operacionais ótimas do processo foto-Fenton. Pelo teste de Zahn Wellens e razão DBO5/DQO foi possível identificar o tempo de reação Fenton para a combinação com o tratamento biológico. Então, o processo foto-Fenton otimizado, com tempo de tratamento de 120 min, foi combinado ao processo biológico, este realizado a 1,57±0,06 vvm e 4,4±0,3 mg mg-1 (DBO5/MLSS) durante 150 h. Após os tratamentos, a toxicidade do lixiviado foi avaliada com a Artemia salina e a Lactuca sativa. Os resultados obtidos mostram uma remoção de 87±2 % de DQO e 84±2 % de DBO5 do lixiviado após o tratamento biológico convencional. Enquanto que, no processo foto-Fenton, nas condições ótimas (3400 mg H2O2 L-1, 80 mg Fe2+ L-1, pH = 2,40 e 120 min), houve remoção de 89±3% de DQO e 75±1% de DBO5. Por sua vez, com o tratamento combinado foram obtidas remoções de 98% de DQO e de 98% de DBO5, atendendo aos padrões restritivos de lançamento impostos pela legislação estadual. Além disso, os compostos aromáticos simples e conjugados foram eficientemente removidos, atingindo taxas de remoção de 93 a 96%. Na avaliação da toxicidade com a Lactuca sativa, os menores índices foram obtidos após o tratamento combinado e foto-Fenton, com valores de DL50 em torno de 0,945. E, para a Artemia salina, o tratamento combinado também foi eficiente na redução da toxicidade do lixiviado, com valor de DL50 de 0,5364. Assim sendo, o tratamento combinado foi eficiente na remoção da carga orgânica e reduziu a toxicidade do efluente, sendo ambientalmente recomendado para o tratamento do lixiviado de aterro sanitário.

Their removal of industrial wastewater is often challenging and involves the combination of different conventional treatment technologies, which, however, often present drawbacks such as the production of hazardous sludge and high energy consumption. One example is the biodiesel production sector, where the generated effluents are rich in oils and greases. Finding innovative treatment alternatives represents a significant contribution to operational and economic sustainability in the biofuels sector. In this context, the pretreatment of fat-rich waste water by bioremediation using biocatalysts as fungal lipases may be a promising alternative, since the production of the enzyme is low cost and presents the advantages of biodegradability (white biotechnology) and can be recovered and used in recycles, reducing the operational cost. The objective of this work was to evaluate the biodegradation of oils and greases (O&G) in wastewater effluents from biodiesel washing, by means of fungal lipase from Penicillium sumatrense obtained through the SST (Solid State Fermentation) process. The results indicated that after the bioremediation there was a reduction in all parameters evaluated, according to Resolution 430/2011 of CONAMA. The content of oils and greases decreased by 86%; to COD 5.0%; to BOD 7%; of total solids (TS) 84.5% and the pH remained at 5.76. The effluent biodegradability ratio (BOD5 / COD) calculated was 1.30. This ratio indicates that values lower than 0.6 estimate low effluent biodegradability, therefore, the value obtained in this research indicates a good biodegradability of the studied effluent. In view of the obtained results an efficient treatment was verified where the wastewater of the biodiesel production industry could be used for the purpose of launching or reuse in the industrial process, minimizing the generation of effluents in the treatment plants. Os óleos e graxas (O&G) representam uma classe de poluentes com baixa afinidade com a água. Sua remoção de águas residuais industriais é muitas vezes desafiadora e envolve a combinação de diferentes tecnologias de tratamento convencionais, os quais, no entanto, muitas vezes apresentam desvantagens como a produção de lamas perigosas e o consumo de alta energia. Um exemplo é o setor de produção de biodiesel, onde os efluentes gerados são ricos em óleos e graxas. Buscar alternativas inovadoras de tratamento representa uma contribuição significativa para a sustentabilidade operacional e economica no setor de biocombustíveis. Neste contexto, o pré-tratamento de águas residuais ricas em gorduras por biorremediação utilizando biocatalisadores como lipases de natureza fúngica poderá ser uma alternativa promissora, pois a produção da enzima é de baixo custo e apresenta as vantagens de biodegradabilidade (white biotecnology) e pode se recuperada e utilizada em reciclos, reduzindo o custo operacional. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a biodegradação de óleos e graxas (O&G) em efluentes de água residuária de lavagem do biodiesel, por meio de lipase fúngica de Penicillium sumatrense obtida através do processo de FES (Fermentação em Estado Sólido). Os resultados indicaram que após a biorremediação houve uma redução em todos os parâmetros avaliados estando de acordo com a Resolução CONAMA 430/2011. O teor de óleos e graxas reduziu 86 %; a DQO 5,0 %; a DBO 7%; de sólidos totais (ST) 84,5 % e o pH manteve-se em 5,76. A razão de biodegradabilidade do efluente (DBO5/ DQO) calculada foi de 1,30. Esta razão indica que valores menores do que 0,6 estimam baixa biodegradabilidade do efluente, portanto, o valor obtido nesta pesquisa indica uma boa biodegrabilidade do efluente estudado. Diante dos resultados obtidos verificou-se um tratamento eficiente onde as águas residuárias da indústria de produção de biodiesel poderão ser utilizadas para fins de lançamento ou reuso no processo industrial minizando a geração de efluentes nas estações de tratamento.

Currently, many advanced treatment techniques have been studied in order to provide a treated water with high quality for reuse purposes. In this context, this work aimed at evaluating the efficiency of a hybrid system based on coagulation/flocculation/sedimentation (C/F/S) and nanofiltration (NF) for industrial reuse purposes. In the C/F/S process, the use of Moringa oleifera Lam (Moringa) seeds as a natural coagulant was evaluated. Different methods and saline solutions (KCl, MgCl2.6H2O, and CaCl2.2H2O) were studied when extracting the active components from the seeds. Nanofiltration was performed with polyamide membranes based on the tangential flow filtration principle. The extraction method that utilized the whole Moringa, ground directly with the saline solution, was highlighted among the evaluated ones, by using a smaller number of steps. The extraction with calcium chloride dehydrated demonstrated the best efficiency, compared to the magnesium chloride hexahydrate and potassium chloride. The C/F/S step was optimized through serial factorial designs, in which the turbidity removal was the response variable. It was obtained a turbidity removal of 91.52% when using 300 mg L-1 of the Moringa coagulant (MC), extracted with a saline CaCl2.2H2O solution (0.9 mol L-1) and a pH value of 10.0. The empirical quadratic model obtained, validated by the ANOVA and F-test, in conjunction with the desirability function, demonstrated the possibility to obtain turbidity removals of 92.04 % ( 9.13%) with the following conditions: MC = 300 mg L-1, CCaCl2 = 0.9 mol L-1 e pH = 11.0. The sedimentation time was reduced from 40 to 25 minutes. The MC performance concerning the turbidity removal proved to be dependent on the alkaline pH (8.0 to 11.0). In the nanofiltration process, it was evaluated the influence of the C/F/S optimized as a pre-treatment, comparing the hybrid C/F/S/NF and the direct NF at 4 bar. High removals of apparent color (99.7%), turbidity (99.1%), COD (88.9%), total hardness (66.3%), and calcium (63.7%) were obtained using the hybrid treatment system, providing a removal of 81.2% in the membrane fouling, compared to the raw NF treatment. The proposed hybrid system allows the reuse of this wastewater in the industry. O processo de industrialização do soro de leite gera águas residuárias que necessitam de atenção especial, quanto ao seu tratamento e disposição final. Atualmente, muitas técnicas de tratamento avançadas são estudadas com o objetivo de produzir águas tratadas de elevada qualidade, para fins de reuso. Dentro deste contexto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência de um sistema de tratamento híbrido, composto por coagulação/floculação/sedimentação (C/F/S) e nanofiltração (NF), para fins de reuso industrial. No processo de C/F/S, foi avaliado o uso das sementes de Moringa oleífera Lam (Moringa) como coagulante natural. Foram avaliados diferentes métodos e soluções salinas (KCl, MgCl2.6H2O e CaCl2.2H2O) na extração dos componentes ativos das sementes. A nanofiltração foi realizada com membranas planas de poliamida pelo princípio de filtração tangencial. O método de extração no qual a Moringa integral foi triturada diretamente com a solução salina destacou-se dentre os avaliados, por utilizar um número menor de etapas. A extração com o cloreto de cálcio dihidratado, demonstrou ser mais eficiente, em comparação aos sais cloreto de magnésio hexahidratado e cloreto de potássio. A etapa de C/F/S foi otimizada através de planejamentos fatoriais em série, nos quais, utilizou-se a remoção de turbidez como variável resposta. Foi obtida uma remoção de turbidez de 91,52 %, ao utilizar 300 mg L-1 de coagulante de Moringa (CM), extraído com solução salina de CaCl2.2H2O (0,9 mol L-1) e pH 10,0. O modelo quadrático empírico obtido, validado pela ANOVA e teste “F”, juntamente com a função desejabilidade, demonstraram ser possível obter remoção de turbidez de 92,04 % ( 9,13 %), nas seguintes condições: CM = 300 mg L-1; CCaCl2= 0,9 mol L-1 e pH = 11,0. O tempo de sedimentação foi reduzido de 40 para 25 minutos. O desempenho de CM para remoção de turbidez demonstrou ser dependente do pH alcalino (8,0 a 11,0). No processo de nanofiltração avaliou-se a influência de C/F/S otimizado como pré-tratamento, compondo o tratamento híbrido C/F/S/NF, em comparação ao tratamento por NF direto (Bruto-NF), na pressão de 4 bar. Elevadas remoções de cor aparente (99,7 %), turbidez (99,1 %), DQO (88,9%), dureza total (66,3 %) e cálcio (63,7 %) foram obtidas utilizando o sistema de tratamento híbrido, que proporcionou redução de 81,2% no fouling da membrana, em comparação ao tratamento Bruto-NF. O sistema híbrido proposto possibilita o reuso desta água dentro da indústria.

In this way, these fluids should be studied, as they may entail the vulnerability of the fauna and flora. In this sense, the objective of this work was to investigate the deleterious effects of vegetal and mineral dielectric fluids, through biodegradability, acute toxicity, chemical attributes and soil degradation (oils and greases) tests as well as soybean phytotechnical characteristics evaluation. In the tests of the immediate biodegradability, vegetal dielectric fluids of crambe, W3, W6 and W9 and one based on mineral oil (Lubrax) were studied. For the acute toxicity tests with Danio rerio and Artemia salina and the soil toxicity tests using soybean (Glycine max L.), the W3 and Lubrax dielectric fluid were used. The biodegradability analysis was evaluated by the action of microorganisms that transformed the sample into CO2, being measured by titulometry. For the acute toxicity studies, two distinct experiments were performed, where the organisms were exposed to different concentrations of the W3 and Lubrax dielectric fluids and to the FSA of the fluids. The FSA of W3 and Lubrax used in the Danio rerio assay were subjected to gas chromatography analysis. The acute toxicity tests with Danio rerio and Artemia salina were carried out in order to know the approximate range of fluid toxicity, taking into account the lower dilution that caused lethality in 50% of organisms (LC50). The soil chemical attributes analyzed were: pH, P, K, Ca, Mg, CTC and V. The content of oils and greases of the dielectric fluids was quantified by the Soxhlet type extraction method. For the phytothecnical evaluations, emergence, plant height, stem diameter, root length, root dry matter, number of pods and grains, and the mass of one thousand grains were analyzed. Vegetable dielectric fluids are biodegradable over a period of 14 days, while mineral oil is difficult to biodegrade. In the acute toxicity study, W3 had a lower LC50 than Lubrax, causing higher mortality in the organisms. The LC50 for the Danio rerio was 2.46 gL-1 (Lubrax) and 0.318 gL-1 (W3). For Artemia salina the LC50 was 4.63 gL-1 (Lubrax) and 0.641 gL-1 (W3). In relation to the FSA tests, the Lubrax one caused a greater toxic effect on the organisms, while the W3 had no toxic effect on 50% of organisms. The LC50 values for Lubrax were 4.89% for the Danio rerio and 7.67% for Artemia salina. Chromatographic analysis of FSA of the fluids was not conclusive, it only suggests that the toxicity may be related to the solubility of all the substances present in Lubrax and not only to the solubility of n-alkanes. The chemical attributes of the soil did not change significantly, only the carbon presented increasing variation in relation to the concentrations of the fluids. There was a reduction of the TOG during the agricultural years and the soils in the presence of W3 presented greater degradation than those with Lubrax. The increase in the concentration of the dielectric fluids caused a reduction in the phytotechnical characteristics of the soybean. Plants from soil contaminated with W3 showed better development compared to plants that were in soil contaminated with Lubrax. As concessionárias de energia, constantemente, contaminam o meio ambiente com fluidos dielétricos, devido a falhas e vazamentos de transformadores de potência. Desta forma, estes fluidos devem ser estudados, pois podem pode implicar na vulnerabilidade da fauna e da flora. Neste sentido, este trabalho teve como objetivo investigar os efeitos deletérios do fluido dielétrico vegetal e mineral, através de ensaios de biodegradabilidade, toxicidade aguda, ensaios dos atributos químicos e degradação (óleos e graxas) do solo e das avalições das características fitotécnicas da soja. Nos ensaios da biodegradabilidade imediata foram estudados os fluidos dielétricos vegetais de crambe, W3, W6 e W9 e um à base de óleo mineral (Lubrax). Para os ensaios de toxicidade aguda com Danio rerio e Artemia salina e para os ensaios de toxicidade em solo utilizando a soja (Glycine max L.), foram usados o fluido dielétrico W3 e o Lubrax. A análise da biodegradabilidade foi avaliada pela ação de microrganismos que transformaram a amostra em CO2, sendo medido por titulometria. Para os estudos da toxicidade aguda foram realizados dois experimentos distintos, onde os organismos foram expostos às diferentes concentrações de fluido dielétrico W3 e Lubrax e onde foram expostos à FSA dos fluidos. A FSA do W3 e Lubrax utilizado no ensaio com o Danio rerio foram submetida a análise de cromatografia gasosa. Os ensaios de toxicidade aguda com o Danio rerio e a Artemia salina foram realizados com o intuito de se conhecer a faixa aproximada de toxicidade dos fluidos, levando em consideração a menor diluição que causou letalidade em 50% dos organismos (CL50). As análises dos atributos químicos do solo foram: pH, P, K, Ca, Mg, CTC e V. O teor de óleos e graxas dos fluidos dielétricos foi quantificado pelo método de extração em aparelho tipo Soxhlet. Para as avaliações fitotécnicas da soja analisou-se a emergência, altura de planta, diâmetro do caule, comprimento radicular, matéria seca radicular, número de vagens e de grãos e a massa de mil grãos. Os fluidos dielétricos vegetais são biodegradáveis num período de 14 dias, enquanto o óleo mineral é difícil de ser biodegradado. No estudo da toxicidade aguda o W3 apresentou uma CL50 menor do que o Lubrax, causando maior mortalidade nos organismos. A CL50 para o Danio rerio foi de 2,46 gL-1 (Lubrax) e de 0,318 gL-1 (W3). Para a Artemia salina a CL50 foi de 4,63 gL-1 (Lubrax) e 0,641 gL-1 (W3). Em relação aos ensaios com a FSA, o Lubrax causou maior efeito tóxico aos organismos. O W3 não apresentou efeito tóxico a 50% dos organismos. Os valores da CL50 para o Lubrax foi de 4,89% para o Danio rerio e 7,67% Artemia salina. A análise cromatográfica da FSA dos fluidos não foi conclusiva, apenas sugere que a toxicidade pode estar relacionada com a solubilidade de todas as substâncias presentes no Lubrax e não apenas com a solubilidade dos n-alcanos. Os atributos químicos do solo não sofreram alterações significativas, apenas o carbono apresentou variação crescente em relação às concentrações dos fluidos. Houve redução do TOG durante os anos agrícolas e os solos em presença do W3 apresentaram maior degradação do que os em solos com Lubrax. O aumento da concentração dos fluidos dielétricos ocasionou redução nas características fitotécnicas da soja. As plantas em solo contaminadas com W3 apresentaram melhor desenvolvimento em relação às plantas que estavam no solo contaminado com Lubrax.

The MO protein was extracted with saline solution and the nanoparticles were synthesized by the coprecipitation method. The biocoagulant was characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), vibration magnetometry, Fourier Infrared Transformer (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with X-ray energy dispersion spectroscopy (SEM / EDS) and transmission electron microscopy (MET). For the coagulation / flocculation / sedimentation process (C/F/S), the operational parameters studied were sedimentation time, biocoagulant concentration and pH. The efficiency of the C/F/S process was determined by the analysis of the apparent color, absorbance, zeta potential and total organic carbon (TOC). After determining the best conditions (concentration of 0.5% MO, dosage of 100 mg L-1 and pH 7) of the C/F/S process, sedimentation kinetic studies for synthetic wastewater (ARS), real effluent (ERT), both with and without magnetic field and the sludge recovered and regenerated with the saline extract of MO (with magnetic field). At the 100 mgL-1 dosage of magnetic biocoagulant at a concentration of 0.5% MO saline, 89% apparent color removals were obtained in the time of 20 min. The C / F / S process shows dependence on the pH of the reaction medium, because at pH 7 color removal values of 83% and 84% were obtained in reaction time 20 and 40 min, respectively. Um biocoagulante (Fe3O4-MO) magnético foi produzido pela associação de nanopartículas de óxido ferro (Fe3O4) e extrato de Moringa Oleífera Lam (MO) em diferentes concentrações (0,5%, 1% e 2%), para avaliar sua performance na remoção do corante reativo preto 5 (RP5) em meio aquoso (água residuária sintética) e efluente real têxtil. A proteína da MO foi extraída com solução salina e as nanopartículas foram sintetizadas pelo método de coprecipitação. O biocoagulante foi caracterizado por difratometria de raio-X (DRX), magnetometria vibratória, spectroscopia por transformada de Fourier (FTIR), microscopia eletrônica de varredura com espectroscopia por dispersão de energia de Raios-X (MEV/EDS) e microscopia eletrônica de transmissão (MET). Para o processo de coagulação/floculação/sedimentação (C/F/S) os parâmetros operacionais estudados foram tempo de sedimentação, concentração do biocoagulante e pH. A eficiência do processo C/F/S foi determinada pela análise da cor aparente, absorbância, potencial zeta e carbono orgânico total (COT). Após determinar as melhores condições (concentração de MO 0,5%, dosagem de biocoagulante 100 mg L-1 e pH 7) do processo C/F/S, foram realizados estudos cinéticos de sedimentação para água residuária sintética (ARS), efluente real têxtil (ERT), ambos com e sem campo magnético e o lodo recuperado e regenerado com o extrato salino de MO (com campo magnético). Na dosagem 100 mgL-1 de biocoagulante magnético em concentração de 0,5% de solução salina de MO foram obtidos remoções de cor aparente 82% no tempo de 20 min. O processo C/F/S apresenta dependencia em relação ao pH do meio reacional, pois em pH 7 foram obtidos valores de remoção de cor de 83 % e 84 % em tempo de sedimentação 20 e 40 min., respectivamente. Demonstrando-se um materialpromissor na remoção de RP5 e no tratamento de ERT pois possui alta eficiência, preparo simples e condizentes com questões ambientais.

Sugarcane bagasse is a lignocellulosic residue that has been used mainly in energy generation. In the search for more noble purposes, sugarcane bagasse can be used in solid state fermentation processes (FES), intended for the production of enzymes capable of hydrolyzing cellulose. The extraction of the enzymes obtained in FES with fungi is an important step that can influence the yield and cost during the process of obtaining the enzymatic extracts, which will be used in the hydrolysis processes of the cellulose present in sugarcane bagasse, for the purpose of production fermentable sugars, which will serve as raw material in subsequent fermentations to obtain bioethanol. The objective of this work was to evaluate the best conditions for the extraction of cellulase enzymes (FPases, CMCases and β-glycosidase) obtained by FES from sugarcane bagasse with the Aspergillus niger fungus and its partial characterization. In this paper, aiming the treatment of this type of effluent was studied the combined process of coagulation-flocculation (C/F) and membrane separation. Three natural coagulants (Tanfloc POP, Tanfloc SG and Tanfloc SL) were tested in C/F process searching to determine the best color and turbidity removal in the shortest settling time. The statistical analysis and coagulant acquisition cost were decisive in selection of the best natural coagulant. The highest removal of the parameters color (88.7%) and turbidity (92.8%) as well as the lowest cost showed Tanfloc POP coagulant for subsequent testing of Doehlert experimental design. The experimental design results indicated the concentration of coagulant Tanfloc POP equal to 110 mg L-1 and pH of 6.4 as the best experimental condition to obtain the supernatant used in sequential membrane filtration tests. Microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes were tested at pressures 0.6, 1.0 and 1.4 bar in relation to permeate flow. The MF membrane at pressure of 1.4 bar showed the highest value of permeate flow as well as the largest removal of studied parameters. The combined process coagulation/flocculation/membrane was efficient to remove the analyzed parameters, reaching remove of 99.1% to turbidity and 98.4% of color at pressure of 1.4 bar. The permeate obtained in this condition of C/F-MF of combined process was classified in Class 2, 3 and 4 of reuse waters proposed by ABNT-NBR-13969/97 for floors washing, gardens irrigation and flushing toilets. Os efluentes de lavanderias industriais têm na sua composição uma elevada quantidade de sujeiras, que saem dos itens que foram lavados, e aditivos químicos utilizados durante o processo de lavagem. No presente trabalho, visando o tratamento deste tipo de efluente foi estudado o processo combinado de coagulação/floculação (C/F) e separação por membranas. Três coagulantes naturais (Tanfloc POP, Tanfloc SL e Tanfloc SG) foram testados no processo de C/F buscando determinar as melhores porcentagens de remoção de cor e turbidez no menor tempo de sedimentação. A análise estatística e de custo de aquisição do coagulante foram determinantes na seleção do melhor coagulante natural. A maior remoção dos parâmetros cor (88,7%) e turbidez (92,8%), bem como menor custo apontaram o coagulante Tanfloc POP para os ensaios subsequentes do planejamento experimental de Doehlert. Os resultados do planejamento indicaram a concentração de coagulante Tanfloc POP igual a 110 mg L-1 e pH igual a 6,4 como a melhor condição experimental para obtenção do sobrenadante utilizado nos ensaios sequenciais de separação por membranas. Foram testadas membranas de micro (MF) e ultrafiltração (UF) nas pressões de 0,6, 1,0 e 1,4 bar em relação ao fluxo permeado. A membrana MF na pressão de operação de 1,4 bar apresentou o maior valor do fluxo permeado, bem como as maiores remoções dos parâmetros estudados. O processo combinado de coagulação/floculação/membranas demonstrou ser eficiente para remoção dos parâmetros analisados, chegando a remover 99,1% da turbidez e 98,1% de cor na pressão de 1,4 bar. O permeado obtido nesta condição do processo combinado C/F-MF enquadrou-se em águas de reuso de classe 2, 3 e 4 propostos pela norma ABNT-NBR-13969/97 para fins de lavagens de pisos, irrigação de jardins e descargas de vasos sanitários.

For pretreatment of the effluent triage was performed using five natural coagulants (Acquapol WW, and S5T Tanfloc POP, ST, SG), a chemical (Al2SO4) and a cationic flocculant (Zetag ® 8185).Experimental designs Plackett & Burman (PB12) followed by a full factorial 2k was used in order to obtain the best experimental conditions in the process. The supernatant obtained in step of coagulation/flocculation under went a process of separation of micro-and ultrafiltration membranes varying pressures (0,6, 1 and 1,4 bar), permeate flows being analyzed, fouling and removal efficiency.The raw sewage and water resulting from treatment in the best conditions of coagulation/flocculation and filtration, under went a toxicity test using brine shrimp body. From the selected sorting the sedimentation time 15 minutes and Tanfloc POP among the natural coagulants.The best condition of operation of the coagulation/flocculation obtained through experimental planning was 1 min to 10 min, TMR TML, 180 rpm for VMR and 10 rpm of VML, pH of 8.5 and coagulant concentration of 440 mg L-1, with removals of 88,5% to turbidity and 78,9% color. The model adjusted to the data in the color parameter removal complete factorial planning using coagulant Tanfloc POP. The tests of filtration (MF and UF) presented on pressure of 1,4 bar, above 95% removal of colour and turbidity, and above 60% for nitrogen and COT, but with lower COD removal (less than 70%). The toxicityof that treated wastewater (66% and 100%) reported toxic to the test organism due to the presence of free cyanide. The permeated obtained (MF) could be used for less noble purposes among the classes (2, 3 and 4) suggested by the ABNT NBR 13,696/1997. The results obtained in this study demonstrate the potential of C/F, MF and UF, for treatment of manipueira. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo estudar o tratamento da manipueira por processo combinado de coagulação/floculação e separação por membranas, visando o reuso não potável desta água. Para o pré-tratamento do efluente foi realizada uma triagem utilizando cinco coagulantes naturais (Acquapol WW, S5T e Tanfloc POP, ST, SG), um químico (Al2SO4) e um floculante catiônico (Zetag 8185®). Planejamentos experimentais Plackett & Burman (PB12) seguido de um fatorial completo 2k foram utilizados a fim de obter as melhores condições experimentais no processo. O sobrenadante obtido na etapa de coagulação/floculação foi submetido a um processo de separação por membranas de micro e ultrafiltração variando-se as pressões (0,6, 1 e 1,4 bar), sendo analisados os fluxos de permeado, fouling e eficiência de remoção. O efluente bruto e a água resultante do tratamento nas melhores condições dos ensaios de coagulação/floculação e filtração, foram submetidos a um ensaio de toxicidade utilizando o organismo Artemia salina. A partir da triagem selecionou-se o tempo de sedimentação de 15 minutos e o Tanfloc POP dentre os coagulantes naturais. A melhor condição de operação da coagulação/floculação obtida através dos planejamentos experimentais foi de 1 min para TMR, 10 min de TML, 180 rpm para VMR e 10 rpm de VML, pH de 8,5 e concentração do coagulante de 440 mg L-1, com remoções de 88,5% para cor e 78,9% de turbidez. O modelo ajustou-se aos dados de remoção do parâmetro cor no planejamento fatorial completo utilizando o coagulante Tanfloc POP. Os ensaios de filtração (MF e UF) apresentaram na pressão de 1,4 bar, remoções acima de 95% de cor e turbidez, e acima de 60% para nitrogênio e TOC, porém com baixa remoção de DQO (menor que 70%). A toxicidade, do efluente mesmo tratado (66% e 100%) apresentou-se tóxico para o organismo teste devido à presença de cianeto livre. O permeado obtido (MF) poderia ser utilizado para fins menos nobres dentre as classes (2, 3 e 4) sugeridas pela ABNT NBR 13.969/1997. Cultivated all over Brazil they are used either for feeding, or for other alternative uses.The current model of agriculture production privileges the intensive use of industrialized ingredients, neglecting the potential and the offered opportunities by the biological components of the soil in pros of the production in a sustainable basis. The rizobacterias promoter of the plants growth (RPCPs) are a possibility for the reduction of chemical fertilizers use, rise in the productivity and decreasing of the costs for the corn production. The goals of this experiment will be evaluating the effect of bacterias from the Bacillus gender; about the parameters: germination, growth and nutrition of the corn and soy bean plants. It has been used two different formulation based on Bacillus. For the corn culture the inoculation has been done directly in washed and unwashed seeds, but for the soybean culture the inoculation has been done with seeds that came straight from the soil. The experiment has realized with 03 repetitions, totalizing 108 vases. The plantation if the inoculates seeds with RPCPs of the Bacillus gender was done with different dosages of fertilizer NPK, in the ideal dosage for each culture, 50% of the ideal and without any fertilizer application, being planted 10 seeds a vase. After 15 days from the plantation the number of emerged plants was evaluated, finding that the inoculated seeds with the microbiological preparations, had lower performance regarding to its witnesses. Seventy days after the plantation, the growth and nutrition characteristics were evaluated. To analyze the data the system of analysis of variance was used and the Tukey test with 95% of reliance using the statistic program SISVAR 5.3. For the corn plants, the best results were from the unwashed seeds, and for the soybean the best incomes were found in plants with the inoculum in the soil. The microorganisms were more efficient in the soybean culture. A cultura de milho e da soja são destaques da recente expansão da atividade agrícola brasileira. Cultivadas em todo o Brasil são usadas tanto para alimentação, quanto para usos alternativos. O modelo de produção agrícola vigente privilegia o uso intensivo de insumos industrializados, negligenciando o potencial e as oportunidades oferecidas pela exploração dos componentes biológicos do solo em prol da produção com bases sustentáveis. As rizobacterias promotoras de crescimento de plantas (RPCPs) são uma possibilidade para a redução no emprego de fertilizantes químicos, aumento na produtividade e diminuição dos custos para a produção do milho e da soja. Os objetivos do experimento foram avaliar o efeito de bactérias do gênero Bacillus, sobre os parâmetros: germinação, crescimento e nutrição das plantas de milho e da soja. Foram utilizados duas formulações diferentes à base Bacillus. Para a cultura do milho a inoculação foi feita em sementes lavadas e semente não lavadas, já para a cultura da soja a inoculação foi feita em sementes e diretamente no solo. O experimento foi realizado com 03 repetições, totalizando 108 vasos. O plantio das sementes inoculadas com RPCPs do gênero Bacillus foi feito com diferentes dosagens de adubação NPK, na dosagem ideal para cada cultura, 50% da ideal e sem a aplicação de fertilizantes, sendo semeadas 10 sementes por vaso. Após 15 dias do plantio foi avaliada o número de plantas emergidas, constatando que as sementes inoculadas com os preparados microbiológicos, obtiveram menor desempenho em relação as testemunhas. Setenta dias após o plantio foram avaliadas as características de crescimento e nutricionais das plantas. Para analisar os dados utilizou-se a Análise de Variância e o teste Tukey com 95% de confiança utilizando o programa estatístico SISVAR 5.3. Para as plantas de milho, os melhores resultados foram os de sementes não lavadas, e para a soja os melhores rendimentos foram encontrados em plantas com inoculo no solo. Os microorganismos foram mais eficientes na cultura da soja.

This study aimed to kiln drying and convective dryer bagasse sugarcane and its application in the removal of metal nickel. Fluorescence spectra of X- rays detected the presence of C, O and Si in the biosorbents, and a fibrous structure and apparently fragmented. Thermal analysis has demonstrated that the bagasse has thermal stability up to 80 °C and four stages of weight loss and decomposition of its components. The point of zero charge was 5,38. The ash content of 4,4%. The kiln drying showed the best results obtained by the experimental desing 22 with 4 center points were showed the temperature of 80 °C as more suitable for balancing the end of the drying process of sugar cane bagasse in 140 minutes. In convective drying the best results were at a temperature of 80 °C and the drying air speed of 2,0 m s-1 reaching the equilibrium moisture content (Xe) in 85±8,66 minutes. Page's model represented better the kinetics, with R2 of 0,9948. The coefficient of diffusivity and activation energy for the best drying conditions investigated were 1,4340 x 10-12 m2 s-1 and 0,58 kJ mol-1. In the adsorption process optimized variables by Experimental Desing Full 23 values showed the following: pH = 5,0, temperature = 25°C, agitation rate = 75 rpm and adsorbent mass of 0,1 g. The adsorption kinetics of bagasse presented a qeq of 1,43 ± 0,024 mg g-1 in a time of 120 minutes. The sugar cane bagasse being a low cost, renewable and biodegradable agroindustrial by product, proves to be a potential adsorbent for the removal of nickel metal. O crescimento do setor sucroalcooleiro tem potencializado a geração de grandes quantidades de resíduos como o bagaço de cana-de-açúcar, fato que tem incentivado a pesquisa de novas alternativas para sua aplicação. Este trabalho teve como objetivo a secagem em estufa e em secador convectivo do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar e sua aplicação na remoção do metal níquel. Os espectros de fluorescência de raios-X detectaram a presença de C, O e Si no biossorvente, além de uma estrutura fibrosa e fragmentada aparentemente. A análise térmica demonstrou que o bagaço possui estabilidade térmica até 80 °C e quatro estágios de perda de massa e decomposição de seus componentes. O ponto de carga zero (PCZ) do bagaço de cana-de-açúcar foi de 5,38. A secagem em estufa apresentou a temperatura de 80 °C como mais apropriada para estabelecer o equilíbrio ao final do processo de secagem do bagaço de cana em 140 minutos. Na secagem convectiva os melhores resultados obtidos pelo planejamento experimental 22 com 4 pontos centrais foram a temperatura de 80 °C e velocidade do ar de secagem de 2,0 m s-1 atingindo a umidade de equilíbrio (Xe) em 85±8,66 minutos. O modelo de Page representou melhor a cinética de secagem do bagaço de cana com coeficiente de determinação de 0,9948. O coeficiente de difusividade e a energia de ativação para as melhores condições de secagem investigadas foram de 1,4340 x 10-12 m2 s-1 e 0,58 KJ mol-1. No processo de adsorção de níquel as variáveis otimizadas pelo Planejamento Experimental Completo 23 foram pH de 5,0, temperatura de 25 °C e velocidade de agitação de 150 rpm. A cinética de adsorção do níquel pelo bagaço de cana foi de 1,43 ± 0,024 meq g-1 para um tempo de equilíbrio de 120 minutos. O bagaço de cana-de-açúcar por ser um subproduto agroindustrial de baixo custo, renovável e biodegradável, demonstra ser um adsorvente potencial para a remoção do metal níquel.

For this, 38 groundwater sources samples, distributed in Maringá-PR were collected. These samples were sent to the laboratory management control and environmental preservation of the State University of Maringa, where they were subjected to physicochemical analysis. Once evaluated, it was possible to locate sources contaminated with nitrate at different concentrations, some of these (water samples containing 10, 25, 45 and 60 mg L-1 NO3-) were used to evaluate the removal of this ion in jar test equipment, treatment by coagulation / flocculation with the aid of the crude extract of Moringa oleifera Lam seeds (saline and aqueous solutions) (MO). These tests allowed to observe the behavior that the extract exerts MO in different concentrations of nitrate in groundwater. Finally, was evaluated the nitrate íon removal by coagulation / flocculation in jar test equipment combined with filtration tests (two slow domestic filters),it was compared with the filtration of groundwater in natura (without contact with coagulants). Results of the evaluation of groundwater quality in this region have shown risks to human health. The treatment of coagulation / flocculation with Moringa oleifera Lam removed nitrate up to 67% and 87% with the aqueous and saline extracts, respectively. The use of MO seeds extract was satisfactory to removal nitrate íon, however, it was observed that the higher the dosage of the seeds extract, increased the final turbidity (NTU over 30). Combined treatments with slow domestic filters were used to remove the residual turbidity after coagulation / flocculation, however, combined treatment did not meet the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health No. 2914, 2011 for the parameters studied. The best results were obtained in treatment of groundwater in natura with domestic filters, without coagulants, with residual of 40 mgL-NO3- and turbidity between 0 and 1 NTU. This study demonstrated that it is possible to remove nitrate using Moringa oleifera lam seeds extract, however, was observed increased turbidity in reaction becoming a not potable source water. Thus, more research is needed, evaluating different techniques in the active principle extraction present in these seeds to removal of nitrate íon in groundwater. O objetivo da presente pesquisa foi avaliar a qualidade da água subterrânea da região de Maringá PR com maior atenção à concentração de nitrato e estudar a redução deste íon com extrato bruto de sementes da planta Moringa oleífera Lam. A água subterrânea foi avaliada por meio de amostragens em 38 fontes de água subterrânea, distribuídas na região de Maringá-PR. Estas amostras foram encaminhadas ao laboratório de gestão controle e preservação ambiental da Universidade Estadual de Maringá, onde foram submetidas às análises físico-químicas. Depois de avaliada, foi possível localizar fontes contaminadas com nitrato em diferentes concentrações, algumas destas (amostras de água contendo 10, 25, 45 e 60 mg L-1 de NO3-) foram utilizadas para avaliar a remoção deste íon em equipamento jar test, tratamento por coagulação/floculação com auxílio do extrato bruto das sementes de Moringa oleífera Lam (soluções salina e aquosa) (MO). Estes ensaios possibilitaram observar o comportamento que o extrato de MO exerce em diferentes concentrações de nitrato presente em águas subterrâneas. Por último, foi avaliada a remoção de nitrato por coagulação/floculação em equipamento jar test combinado a ensaios de filtração (dois filtros lentos domésticos), comparados com a filtração da água subterrânea in natura (sem contato com coagulantes) nestes filtros. Os resultados da avaliação da qualidade da água subterrânea na região demonstraram riscos à saúde humana, principalmente por nitrato. O tratamento de coagulação/floculação com a Moringa oleifera Lam removeu nitrato em até 67% e 87% com o extrato aquoso e extrato salino, respectivamente. A utilização dos extratos das sementes de MO foi satisfatória para a remoção do nitrato de águas subterrâneas da região, no entanto, foi observado que, quanto maior a dosagem do extrato das sementes, maior a turbidez final (acima de 30 NTU). Os tratamentos combinados com filtros domésticos lentos foram empregados a fim de remover a turbidez residual após o processo de coagulação/floculação, entretanto, os tratamentos combinados não atenderam à Portaria do Ministério da Saúde nº 2914 de 2011 para os parâmetros estudados. Os melhores resultados nos filtros domésticos foram obtidos com a filtração da água subterrânea in natura, sem contato com coagulantes, que atenderam os padrões de potabilidade, com maior residual de 40 mg L- de NO3- e turbidez entre 0 e 1 NTU. O presente estudo demonstrou que é possível remover nitrato utilizando extrato bruto das sementes da planta Moringa oleifera Lam, no entanto, foi observado o aumento da turbidez no meio reacional, o que inviabilizou o uso para fins potáveis. Assim, são necessárias novas pesquisas, em especial diferentes técnicas na extração do princípio ativo presente nestas sementes para remoção de nitrato em águas subterrâneas.

It was investigated the influence of milling the biomass, the particle size, the chemical pretreatment adsorbent with the solution of NaOH 0.1 mol L¬-1 and H2SO4 0.1 mol L-1 , the stirring speed and also the influence of temperature and pH parameters. It was also determined adsorption kinetics and equilibrium. In the study of the influence of grinding, it was observed that the biomass of ground Limnobium spongia showed better results in the adsorption of the dye than the entire biomass. The different particle sizes and pretreatment of biomass tested did not influence significantly the removal of the dye. In the study stirring rate was observed that from 100 rpm external diffusional resistances are reduced to a minimum. The parameters pH and temperature were studied jointly by the method Central Composite Rotatable Design (CCRD), behavior demonstrated that these parameters are independent and greater amount of dye removed occurred at the maximum temperature 49.8°C and at pH 0.8. The kinetic study was made at temperatures of 20 and 50° C, the maximum amount of dye removed and the equilibrium time was of 81.97 mg g-1 and 6 h to 20°C and 105.6 mg g-1 and 4 h to 50°C. The kinetic data were best represented by pseudo-second order model. The equilibrium isotherms were performed at temperatures of 20, 30, 40 and 50º C. The highest removal of dye was 108.17 mg g-1 at 50°C and amount removed was 86 mg g-1 at 20°C. The equilibrium data of isotherms at all temperatures were predicted by the Langmuir model. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a remoção do corante Preto Reativo 5 utilizando como biossorvente a macrófita Limnobium spongia. No estudo da biossorção do corante, foram investigadas a influência da moagem da biomassa, o tamanho da partícula, o pré-tratamento químico do adsorvente com soluções de NaOH 0,1 mol L¬-1 e H2SO4 0,1 mol L¬-1, a velocidade de agitação e também a influência dos parâmetros temperatura e pH. Foram determinadas a cinética de adsorção e o equilíbrio. No estudo da influência da moagem, observou-se que a biomassa de Limnobium spongia moída obteve melhores resultados na adsorção do corante do que a biomassa inteira. As diferentes granulometrias e pré-tratamentos da biomassa testadas não influenciaram de forma significativa na remoção do corante. No estudo da velocidade de agitação observou-se que a partir de 100 rpm as resistências difusionais externas foram reduzidas ao seu valor mínimo. Os parâmetros pH e temperatura foram estudados de forma conjunta através do método de Delineamento Composto Central Rotacional (DCCR) e o resultado demonstrou que estes parâmetros são independentes e que a maior quantidade de corante removida aconteceu na temperatura máxima testada 49,8ºC e no pH 0,8 (mínimo testado). O estudo cinético foi realizado nas temperaturas de 20 e 50ºC, a quantidade máxima de corante removido e o tempo de equilíbrio foram de 81,97 mg g-1¬¬ e 6 h para 20º e 105,6 mg g-1¬¬ e 4 h para 50ºC. Os dados cinéticos foram melhor representados pelo modelo cinético de pseudo-segunda ordem. As isotermas de equilíbrio foram avaliadas nas temperaturas de 20, 30, 40 e 50ºC. O maior valor de remoção de corante foi de 108,2 mg g-1 na isoterma de 50ºC, enquanto que a quantidade máxima removida foi de 86 mg g-1 na isoterma de 20ºC. Os dados de equilíbrio das isotermas apresentaram comportamento previsto pelo modelo de Langmuir.

This study aimed to employ in natura soybean hulls in the removal of reactive dyes Crimson Sidercron HEXL (RCS-HEXL) and Blue BF-5G (RABF-5G). The point of zero charge (PZC) of soybean hulls was 6.76. The kinetics of the dye RCS-HEXL performed under the experimental conditions C0= 350 mg L-1, Dp= 0.215 mm, dosage= 8 g L-1, pH 2, temperature 30 °C was reached experimental qeq 38.039 mg g-1 in a time of 10 hours. In the kinetics of dye RABF-5G one experimental qeq of 57.473 mg g-1 was obtained under the conditions C0= 400 mg L-1, Dp= 0.725 mm, dosage= 6 g L-1, pH 2, temperature 30 °C 24 hours. The model of the pseudo-second order kinetics represented best of both dyes, showing R2= 0.989. The Langmuir isotherm model for 30 oC showed the maximum adsorption capacity of 44.356 mg g-1 and 72.427 mg g-1 for dyes RCS-HEXL and RABF-5G, respectively. Soybean hulls being a low-cost agro-industrial by-product proves to be a potential adsorbent for the removal of textile dyes investigated. O setor têxtil é conhecido pela elevada utilização de produtos químicos, como os corantes, e gerador de grandes volumes de efluente que contaminam águas, fato que tem incentivado a pesquisa e o aprimoramento de técnicas de tratamento. Este trabalho teve como objetivo empregar a casca de soja in natura na remoção dos corantes reativos Crimson Sidercron HEXL (RCS-HEXL) e Azul BF-5G (RABF-5G). O ponto de carga zero (PCZ) da casca de soja foi de 6,76. A cinética do corante RCS-HEXL realizada nas condições experimentais de C0= 350 mg L-1, Dp=0,215 mm, dosagem=8 g L-1, pH 2, temperatura 30°C foi obtido um qeq experimental de 38,039 mg g-1 em um tempo de 10 horas. Na cinética do corante RABF-5G um qeq experimental de 57,473 mg g-1 foi obtido nas condições de C0= 400 mg L-1, Dp=0,725 mm, dosagem=6 g L-1, pH 2, temperatura 30°C em 24 horas. O modelo de pseudo-segunda ordem representou melhor a cinética de ambos os corantes, apresentando R2 de 0,989. O modelo de isoterma de Langmuir para a temperatura de 30oC apresentou capacidade máxima de adsorção de 44,356 mg g-1 e 72,427 mg g-1, para os corantes RCS-HEXL e RABF-5G, respectivamente. A casca de soja por ser um subproduto agroindustrial de baixo custo demonstra ser um adsorvente potencial para a remoção dos corantes têxteis investigados.

Initially, it has been evaluated the best pH for each coagulant studied to then optimize the concentration of the coagulants and settling time. For this finality, it has been used velocity of rapid mixing (VMR) and slow (VML) at 100 rpm and 20 rpm, respectively and time of rapid mixing (TMR) and slow (TML) for 2 minutes and 20minutes, respectively. The parameters analyzed were pH after treatment, absorbance at a wavelength of maximum absorption for each dye present in the wastewater (Procion Orange HER and Procion Red HE-7B), color, turbidity and COD. In the test for optimization of coagulants concentration and settling time, also was evaluated the amount of sludge generated at each concentration studied. Thus, organic coagulants showed superior results in comparison with inorganic coagulants in the treatment of textile wastewater, especially MO-KCl, which showed removal of 86,8% for absorbance of the dye Procion Orange HER, 75,65% for absorbance of the dye Procion Red HE-7B, 70,67%forcolor, 85,97% for COD and 64,07% for turbidity. Based on the results obtained, MO-KCl presented a promising coagulant in the treatment of textile wastewater. O presente estudo avaliou a eficiência dos coagulantes orgânicos sementes de Moringa oleifera lam extraídas em soluções salinas de cloreto de sódio e cloreto de potássio 1,0 (MO-NaCl e MO-KCl) respectivamente, além dos inorgânicos sulfato de alumínio e cloreto férrico no tratamento de água residuária têxtil. Inicialmente, avaliou-se o melhor pH de trabalho para cada coagulante estudado, para, em seguida, otimizar a concentração do coagulante e o tempo de sedimentação. Para isto, utilizou-se velocidade de mistura rápida (VMR) e lenta (VML) de 100 rpm e 20 rpm respectivamente, e tempo de mistura rápida (TMR) e lenta (TML) de 2 minutos e 20 minutos, respectivamente. Os parâmetros analisados foram pH após tratamento, absorbância no comprimento de onda máximo de cada corante presente na água residuária (Laranja Procion HER e Vermelho Procion HE-7B), cor, turbidez e DQO. Além destes, no teste para otimização da concentração de coagulante e tempo de sedimentação, avaliou-se a quantidade de lodo gerado em cada concentração estudada. Assim, os coagulantes orgânicos apresentaram resultado superior aos inorgânicos no tratamento da água residuária têxtil, com destaque para a MO-KCl, que apresentou remoção de 86,8% para absorbância do corante Laranja Procion HER, 75,65% para absorbância do corante Vermelho Procion HE-7B, 70,67% para cor aparente, 85,97% para DQO e 64,07% para turbidez. Com base nos resultados obtidos a MO-KCl pode ser considerada um coagulante promissor para o tratamento da água residuária têxtil.

In RFM and Fenton reactions (RF) reactor was used consisting of a borosilicate beaker with a maximum volume of 250 mL, in batch, open, without stirring under room temperature in the optimization phase of time aliquots were removed in the effluent times: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 and 24 h. The procedure consisted of addition of 250 mL of textile effluent to the reactor for RF and RFM, followed by the oxidant and a catalyst for the RF and oxidizing catalyst and complexing to RFM. RF best results in reduction of TOC was obtained in 12 h treatment under initial pH value of 3.0 and a molar ratio [1:0,9:27,5]. Concerning the [COT:Fe2+:H2O2] where noted a reduction of 91.06% of TOC, COD 94.51%, 99.88% and 99.02% of the turbidity of discoloration. The RFM showed the best results with the use of complexing GA at 15 h of treatment under molar ratio [1:1,31:1,12:27,94], its [COT:Fe2+:AG:H2O2] which promoted reduction of 82.30% of TOC, COD 90.53%, 99.27% and 99.19% of the turbidity of discoloration, TA had similar results in reduction of parameters when the effluent subjected to 12 h of treatment in a molar ratio [1:0,76:0,94:32,13]. Concerning the [COT:Fe2+:AT:H2O2] under these conditions was possible to reduce 75.05% TOC, 94.89% COD, 97.84% turbidity and discoloration of 96.75%. However, RF are effective in the treatment of textile effluents, though the RFM presented as a new possibility of the treatment without the necessity of adjusting the initial pH value. Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar as reações de Fenton modificadas (RFM), através da adição de seis complexantes orgânicos isoladamente em cada reação, sendo estes: ácido ascórbico (AA), ácido cítrico (AC), ácido etilenodiaminotetracético (EDTA), ácido glucônico (AG), ácido oxálico (AO) e ácido tartárico (AT), na degradação de efluente têxtil, sob variadas relações molares entre o carbono orgânico total, [Fe2+], complexante e o [H2O2]. Nas RFM e reações de Fenton (RF) foi utilizado reator constituído por um béquer de borossilicato com volume máximo de 250 mL, em sistema descontínuo, aberto, sem agitação, sob temperatura ambiente, na fase de otimização do tempo alíquotas do efluente eram retiradas nos tempos: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 e 24 h. O procedimento consistiu na adição de 250 mL do efluente têxtil ao reator para as RF e RFM, seguido do oxidante e catalisador para as RF e oxidante, catalisador e complexante para as RFM. Nas RF os melhores resultados de redução do COT foi obtido em 12 h de tratamento, sob valor de pH inicial 3,0 e relação molar [1:0,9:27,5] referente ao [COT:Fe2+:H2O2] aonde constatou-se redução de 91,06% do COT, 94,51 da DQO, 99,88 da turbidez e 99,02% de descoloração. As RFM apresentaram os melhores resultados com a utilização do complexante AG em 15 h de tratamento sob relação molar [1:1,31:1,12:27,94], respectivo [COT:Fe2+:AG:H2O2] a qual promoveu a redução de 82,30% do COT, 90,53% da DQO, 99,27% da turbidez e 99,19% de descoloração, o AT apresentou resultados similares de redução dos parâmetros avaliados, quando submetido o efluente a 12 h de tratamento sob relação molar [1:0,76:0,94:32,13] referente ao [COT:Fe2+:AT:H2O2], nestas condições foi possível a redução de 75,05% do COT, 94,89% da DQO, 97,84% da turbidez e descoloração de 96,75%. Contudo, as RF são eficazes no tratamento de efluentes têxteis, entretanto as RFM apresentam-se como uma nova possibilidade de tratamento sem a necessidade de ajuste do valor do pH inicial.

The current management models based on conventional technologies still present technical and economic limitations. In this context, the study aimed to develop and propose a new model of management of domestic sewage and specifically the development of an alternative technology for the preliminary treatment of wastewater generated in the kitchen sink (due to its specific characteristics). The methodology included the qualitative and quantitative characterization of the generating source and domestic effluents, methods of collection, transportation and conventional treatment of domestic sewage and explanation of the advantages/disadvantages of the methods, processes and conventional technology. The results of the monitoring activities and habits of a family allowed determining the water consumption and the consequent generation of waste in each of the sources, which resulted in a correlation that will assist in the calculation of generation capacity/production of domestic sewage in homes and corresponding diagnosis. The tests performed with commercially available technologies for treating the effluent from the kitchen sink (grease trap) have identified the technical limitations of these technologies and the consequence was that the development of a new technology with innovative features called "ash for treatment of effluent from the sink kitchen with simultaneous separation of fat and settleable solids - Model UNIOESTE" innovative technology and in the process of patenting. It therefore contributes to mitigating the negative impacts that result from inadequate management of domestic wastewater using for such technological innovations resulting from intellectual activity with experimental validation. Os efluentes domésticos provenientes da pia da cozinha, máquina de lavar louça, tanque/máquina de lavar roupas, bacia sanitária, chuveiro, lavatório e banheira quando não tratados são fonte de muitos problemas ambientais e de saúde pública. Os atuais modelos de gestão com base de tecnologias convencionais ainda apresentam limitações técnicas e econômicas. Nesse contexto, o trabalho objetivou o desenvolvimento e proposição de um novo modelo de gestão de efluentes domésticos e especificamente o desenvolvimento de uma tecnologia alternativa para o tratamento preliminar do efluente gerado na pia da cozinha (devido às suas características peculiares). A metodologia contemplou a caracterização qualitativa e quantitativa da fonte geradora e dos efluentes domésticos, dos métodos de coleta, transporte e tratamento convencional de efluentes domésticos e explicitação das vantagens/desvantagens dos métodos, processos e da tecnologia convencional. Os resultados do monitoramento das atividades e hábitos de uma família permitiram determinar o consumo de água e a conseqüente geração de efluentes em cada uma das fontes, cujo resultado foi uma correlação que deverá auxiliar no cálculo da capacidade de geração/produção de efluentes domésticos nas residências e o correspondente diagnóstico. Os testes realizados com tecnologias disponíveis no mercado para tratamento do efluente da pia da cozinha (caixa de gordura) permitiram identificar as limitações técnicas dessas tecnologias e a conseqüência disso foi o desenvolvimento de uma nova tecnologia com características inovadoras denominada Caixa para tratamento de efluente da pia da cozinha com separação simultânea de gordura e sólidos sedimentáveis Modelo UNIOESTE , de tecnologia inovadora e em fase de patenteamento. Desta forma, contribui-se com a mitigação dos impactos negativos que resultam da gestão inadequada dos efluentes domésticos utilizando-se para tal, inovações tecnológicas resultantes da atividade intelectual com validação experimental.

Among the main characteristics of this effluent highlights the high organic load and the presence of cyanide ion. The treatment of wastewater from potato starch has been done predominantly by treatment ponds. However, this type of system has limitations for wastewater treatment with the presence of cyanide. The cyanide ion is toxic to micro-organisms, and at certain concentrations the effect is significant, compromising both the removal of cyanide itself as other biodegradable compounds. In this context the present study evaluated the efficiency of starch factory effluent treatment by coagulation / flocculation, employing for that seed extracts of Moringa oleifera (M.O.) as a natural coagulant, as well as the use of the aquatic macrophyte Eichhornia crassipes as natural adsorbent. In the first stage of treatment, represented by the tests of coagulation/flocculation was used the methodology of experimental planning Central Composite Rotatable Design (DCCR). The variables studied were of the M.O. and concentration of salt solution of sodium chloride (NaCl). The test conditions were the following: fast mixing speed (VMR) of 100 rpm, mixing time (TMR) of 2 min; slow speed mixing (VML) of 20 rpm, mixing time (TML) 10 min, the settling time was 60 min. The response variables analyzed in this phase were: turbidity and color, COD and cyanide ion. The operating conditions were optimized: concentration M.O. of 2484 mg L-1 and salt concentration of 0.9 mol L-1. Under these conditions it was possible to remove 89.16% of Turbidity, 54.43% of apparent color, 66.39% of COD and 9.9% of cyanide ion. Given the low efficiency of removal of cyanide ion by coagulation is started for a subsequent treatment. For this, we adopted a treatment by batch adsorption using dry biomass of the aquatic macrophyte Eichhornia crassipes as an adsorbent. For the purpose of a further investigation was used a synthetic solution cyanide (NaCN solution). The best operating conditions of pH, adsorbent dosage and contact time were 2.0, 2.0 g L-1 and 20 min, respectively. By simulating a test combined coagulation/flocculation/adsorption with the effluent of cassava industry to greater removal of cyanide ion fit the sample with pH adjustment (2.0), removing around 31%, proving the thesis of the preliminary tests indicated for tests with a solution of sodium cyanide. As indústrias de processamento de mandioca, especialmente as fecularias, apresentam alto potencial poluidor devido ao lançamento de seus efluentes sobre os ecossistemas aquáticos. Dentre as principais características deste efluente destaca-se a alta carga orgânica e a presença do íon cianeto. O tratamento das águas residuárias de fecularias vem sendo feito predominantemente por lagoas de tratamento. No entanto, esse tipo de sistema de tratamento apresenta limitações para efluentes com presença de cianetos. O íon cianeto é tóxico aos micro-organismos, sendo que em certas concentrações a influência é bastante significativa, comprometendo tanto a remoção do próprio cianeto como de outros compostos biodegradáveis. Neste contexto o presente estudo avaliou a eficiência do tratamento de efluentes de fecularia por coagulação/floculação, para isso empregando extratos de sementes de Moringa oleifera (MO) como coagulante natural, bem como o uso da macrófita aquática Eichhornia crassipes como adsorvente natural. Na primeira etapa do tratamento, representado pelos ensaios de coagulação/floculação foi utilizada a metodologia do planejamento experimental do tipo Delineamento Composto Central Rotacional (DCCR). As variáveis estudadas foram: concentração de MO e concentração da solução salina de cloreto de sódio (NaCl). As condições de ensaio foram as seguintes: velocidade de mistura rápida (VMR) de 100 rpm, com tempo de mistura (TMR) de 2 min; velocidade de mistura lenta (VML) de 20 rpm, com tempo de mistura (TML) de 10 min; o tempo de sedimentação foi de 60 minutos. As variáveis de resposta analisadas nesta etapa foram: Turbidez, Cor Aparente, DQO e Íon Cianeto. As condições operacionais otimizadas foram: concentração de MO de 2484 mg L-1 e concentração salina de 0,9 mol L-1. Nestas condições foi possível remover 89,16% de turbidez, 54,43% de cor aparente, 66,39% de DQO e 9,9% de íon cianeto. Em face da baixa eficiência de remoção de íon cianeto por coagulação partiu-se para um tratamento subsequente. Para isso, adotou-se um tratamento por adsorção em batelada utilizando a biomassa seca da macrófita aquática Eichhornia crassipes como adsorvente. Para efeitos de uma melhor investigação utilizou-se uma solução sintética de cianeto (solução de NaCN). As melhores condições operacionais de pH, dosagem de adsorvente e tempo de contato foram 2,0; 2,0 g L-1 e 20 min, respectivamente. Ao simular um ensaio combinado de coagulação/floculação/adsorção com o efluente bruto de fecularia a maior remoção de íon cianeto coube a amostra com ajuste de pH (2,0), remoção em torno de 31%, comprovando a tese dos ensaios preliminares indicados pelos testes com a solução de cianeto de sódio.

The most commonly used methods for dye removing are biological treatment, coagulation / flocculation / membranes and adsorption processes. The present study aims to evaluate the adsorption of reactive dye textile Crimson HEXL, used in industrial plants (mainly laundries) using two commercial activated carbons: the origin of bovine bones (CAO) and bituminous minerals (CAM). To compare the potential application of these two types of carbons, experiments were performed characterization and adsorption in batch system and in duplicate, consisting of the following steps: i) obtaining from the point of zero charge (pHpzc) for each carbon, ii) evaluate the influence the pH of the dye solution, iii) determine the optimal particle size of the adsorbent, iv) to investigate the influence of the stirring rate in the adsorption process, data acquisition and modeling using kinetic models available in the literature, of obtaining data of equilibrium and modeling at different temperatures using literature modeling, v) desorption of the dye in the best conditions for the particular adsorption system carbon-dye (pH and type of eluent). The experiments showed the best conditions of particle size (approximately 20-30 mesh), shaking (100 rpm) and pH of 2. The kinetic data showed a contact time of 48 hours for the system to reach equilibrium. The kinetic model Pseudo-First-Order, Pseudo-Second-Order and intra-particle diffusion showed good fits of the experimental data with high coefficients of determination and high degree of significance for each parameter in the models studied (p-level < 0,05) for the experimental equilibrium data for systems Crimson HEXL CAO and Crimson HEXL CAM, except for the model of intra-particle diffusion at 100 mg/L of system Crimson HEXL CAO. The simulation using the Langmuir model using as adsorbent CAO represented satisfactorily equilibrium data experimental temperatures of 20, 30, 40 and 50 ° C, unlike the Freundlich model which had adjustment only for the temperature of 20 ° C. To the system Crimson HEXL - CAM did not obtain a proper fit for simulating the experimental data using the equilibrium model isotherm Langmuir and Freundlich. The thermodynamic parameters ΔHº, ΔGº and ΔSº were evaluated and demonstrated that the adsorption of the reactive dye Crimson HEXL in CAO and CAM is an endothermic and spontaneous process. The recovery of activated carbons with reactive dyes had poor results for the recovery of the adsorbent for reuse in adsorption processes. Os corantes estão presentes em muitas unidades industriais, gerando efluentes que são carcinogênicos e tóxicos afetando significativamente o meio ambiente quando descartados sem tratamento prévio. Os métodos mais empregados para a remoção de corantes são: tratamento biológico, coagulação / floculação / membranas e processos de adsorção. O presente trabalho pretende avaliar a adsorção do corante reativo têxtil Crimson HEXL, utilizado em unidades industriais (lavanderias principalmente) utilizando-se dois carvões comerciais ativados: de origem de ossos bovinos (CAO) e mineral betuminosa (CAM). Para comparar o potencial de aplicação destes dois tipos de carvão, experimentos foram realizados de caracterização e adsorção em sistema batelada e em duplicata, consistindo nas seguintes etapas: i) obtenção do ponto de carga zero (pHpcz) para cada carvão; ii) avaliar influência do pH da solução do corante; iii) determinar o melhor tamanho de partícula do material adsorvente; iv) investigar a influência da velocidade de agitação no processo de adsorção: obtenção de dados cinéticos e modelagem utilizando modelos disponíveis na literatura; obtenção de dados de equilíbrio em diferentes temperaturas e modelagem usando modelos da literatura; v) dessorção do corante nas melhores condições de adsorção determinadas para o sistema carvão-corante (pH e tipo de eluente). Os experimentos realizados indicaram as melhores condições de granulometria (aproximadamente 20-30 mesh), agitação (100 rpm) e pH da solução de 2. Seeking to minimize this problem were sought alternative products similar to plastics of petrochemical origin, one of them is the biodegradable polymer. The polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are polyesters synthesized by microorganisms from natural substances such as carbon and energy reserves, and accumulated by microbial cell in the form of intracellular granules, which may represent up to 80 % of the dry cell. The most studied polymer of this class is the polyhydroxybutyrate (P(3HB)) a biodegradable polymer that has similar features to the plastics from petroleum. This study aimed to develop for growth of bacteria Cupriavidus necator for the production of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) using medium supplemented with cassava bagasse, whey and soybean oil. The first crops were carried out using a 2³ factorial design, to obtain the best condition at this stage of growth with the supplements tested. Other experiments used medium limited in nitrogen and higher amounts of supplements. The results obtained from the experimental design showed that the highest biomass production during growth was obtained in experiments which showed through the three supplements in their central levels, followed by testing supplements containing cheese whey and soybean oil combined or the presence of only one of these two components. Four experiments with increasing concentrations of supplement showed that waste and cheese whey hydrolyzed starch presented as good culture media for growth of C. necator, and the increased production of cell biomass (5,8 g.L-1) at the time of the nutrient nitrogen limitation occurred in the culture containing 100 % hydrolyzed starch conversion factor and the best substrate was obtained in cells in medium containing the highest amount supplement cheese whey (50 %). A diversidade de utilização de materiais poliméricos acarreta preocupação devido a utilização de fonte não renovável para a sua produção, bem como os problemas ambientais causados pelo acúmulo do volume de lixo sólido gerado. Procurando minimizar este problema buscaram-se alternativas de produtos semelhantes aos plásticos de origem petroquímica, uma delas é o polímero biodegradável. Os polihidroxialcanoatos (PHAs) são poliésteres sintetizados por micro-organismos como substâncias naturais de reserva de carbono e energia, sendo acumulados pela célula microbiana na forma de grânulos intracelulares, podendo representar até 80% da massa seca celular. O polímero mais estudado desta classe é o polihidroxibutirato (P(3HB)) um polímero biodegradável que possui características semelhantes às dos plásticos provenientes de petróleo. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver estratégias de crescimento da bactéria Cupriavidus necator para produção de poli (3-hidroxibutirato), utilizando meio suplementado com bagaço de mandioca, soro de queijo e óleo de soja. Os primeiros cultivos foram realizados seguindo um planejamento experimental 2³, visando obter nesta etapa a melhor condição de crescimento com os suplementos testados. Os demais experimentos utilizaram meio limitado em nitrogênio e maior quantidade de suplementos. Os resultados obtidos através do planejamento experimental mostraram que as maiores produções de biomassa na fase de crescimento foram obtidas nos experimentos cujo meio apresentava os três suplementos em seus níveis centrais, seguido pelos ensaios que continham os suplementos soro de queijo e óleo de soja combinados ou somente a presença de um destes dois componentes. Quatro experimentos com aumento nas concentrações de suplemento mostraram que os resíduos soro de queijo e hidrolisado amiláceo apresentaram-se como bons meios de cultivo para o crescimento de C. necator, sendo que a maior produção de biomassa celular (5,8 g.L-1) no momento da limitação do nutriente nitrogênio ocorreu no cultivo contendo 100 % de hidrolisado amiláceo e o melhor fator de conversão de substrato em células foi obtido no meio contendo maior quantidade do suplemento soro de queijo (50 %).

The fixed bed columns are longer applied by allowing the process to occur continuously (cycles of regeneration). The design and process optimization of the ion exchange column requires the use of mathematical models. Phenomenological models of these systems involve the solution of partial differential and algebraic equations. The equilibrium data for ion exchange processes are usually described by the Mass Action Law (MAL), which can be considered non-ideality of aqueous and solid phases. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are being used successfully for the study of equilibrium data because they are empirical models and don t demand a mathematical rigor. This work aimed to evaluate the applicability of the hybrid model to describe the dynamics of ion exchange in fixed beds of binary systems. This system consists of partial differential equations obtained from mass balance in fluid phases in the ion exchanger and ANN to describe the balance. LAM was adjusted to experimental data of ion exchange equilibrium and then were generated 4200 data sets for each binary pair studied, which served as training for RNA. We tested networks with different structures, with one and two input layers. The 3-3-2 structure was used in the simulations of the hybrid model because it was the best represented the systems during the training phase. The differential equations were solved by the lines method. A computer program in FORTRAN language was developed for solving the model equations. DASSL subroutine was used to solve the equations. The performance of the hybrid model was evaluated from the results obtained with the phenomenological model, in which case the equilibrium description was made with the use of MAL. It also was the analysis of results from the comparison of experimental data. To evaluate the model we used data from the literature of ion exchange in Amberlite IR 120 resin on the systems Cu-Na and Zn-Na and in NaY zeolite on Fe-Na and Zn-Na. Both models were efficient to describe the dynamics of ion-exchange fixed bed columns, and the hybrid model had the advantage of the reduced computational time (82% reduction on average) as a result of not needing to solve a nonlinear equation. A troca iônica é um processo muito utilizado no tratamento de efluentes industriais aquosos contendo compostos orgânicos e metais pesados. As colunas de leito fixo são mais aplicadas por permitir que o processo ocorra de maneira contínua (ciclos de regeneração). O projeto e a otimização de processos de troca iônica em coluna requer o uso de modelos matemáticos. Os modelos fenomenológicos destes sistemas envolvem a resolução de equações diferenciais parciais e algébricas. Os dados de equilíbrio de processos de troca iônica geralmente são descritos pela Lei da Ação das Massas (LAM), na qual podem ser consideradas as não idealidades das fases aquosa e sólida. As Redes Neurais Artificiais (RNA) estão sendo utilizadas com sucesso para o estudo destes dados de equilíbrio por serem modelos empíricos e não demandarem tal rigor matemático. Esta dissertação teve por objetivo avaliar a aplicabilidade do modelo híbrido para descrever a dinâmica do processo de troca iônica em leito fixo de sistemas binários. Este sistema é constituído de equações diferenciais parciais obtidas por meio de balanço de massa nas fases fluida e no trocador iônico e de RNA para descrever o equilíbrio. A LAM foi ajustada a dados experimentais de equilíbrio de troca iônica e, então, foram gerados conjuntos de 4200 dados para cada par binário estudado, os quais serviram como treinamento para a RNA. Foram testadas redes com diferentes estruturas, com uma e com duas camadas de entrada. A estrutura 3-3-2 foi utilizada nas simulações do modelo híbrido, pois foi a que melhor representou os sistemas na etapa de treinamento. As equações diferenciais foram resolvidas pelo método das linhas. Um programa computacional em linguagem FORTRAN foi desenvolvido para a resolução das equações do modelo. Foi utilizada a sub-rotina DASSL para resolver as equações. O desempenho do modelo híbrido foi avaliada a partir dos resultados obtidos com o modelo fenomenológico, sendo que neste caso a descrição do equilíbrio foi feita pelo uso da LAM. Também foi feita a análise dos resultados a partir da comparação dos dados experimentais. Para avaliar o modelo foram utilizados dados da literatura de troca iônica em resina Amberlite IR 120 dos sistemas Cu-Na e Zn-Na e na zeólita NaY dos sistemas Fe-Na e Zn-Na. Ambos os modelos foram eficientes para descrever a dinâmica de troca iônica de colunas de leito fixo, sendo que o modelo híbrido apresentou como vantagem o menor tempo computacional (82% de redução em média) em decorrência de não necessitar resolver a equação não-linear.

Our country occupies the second position at the worldwide ranking in cultivating this plant (15% of the world production). The industrial processing of cassava generates a liquid waste, the so called manipueira, considered as a pollutant due to the high organic load and it contains a cyanogenic glycoside, which can be hydrolyzed to cyanide. One way to minimize environmental impacts and to aggregate value to the effluent is its use in the production of volatile fatty acids (VFA) via anaerobic fermentation, which was the main goal of this study, performed using manipueira as a substrate and inoculum of swine dejection. The fermentation process during the production of VFA is characterized as a result of the activity of acidogenic bacteria, by the pH decrease and increased hydrolysis and acidification of the organic matter. Inoculum of swine and of bovine dejections were tested in synthetic medium at 30°C and initial pH of 7.0, to define the most appropriate inoculum for the production of volatile fatty acids, swine dejection presented the best results and was used in posterior fermentations. Besides the parameter of VFA production, the behavior of pH, alkalinity and acidity were as well monitored in all experiments. In the fermentation performed with manipueira as a substrate, glucose was used as the main carbon source and different concentrations were tested (1, 2, 5 and 9 g/L) and it was observed that the concentration of 2 g/L of glucose produced about 2.5 g/L of VFA, expressed as acetic acid, after 36h and at pH 5.0, this concentration of glucose was used in further experiments. The alkalinity and temperature levels were tested by experimental design, in which at 30°C with 3 g/L of sodium bicarbonate better conditions were observed, resulting in the production of 3.4 g/L of VFA in 45h. On the basis of these conditions, the model for the production of VFAs was validated by performing fermentations in triplicate and evaluating the reproducibility of the process. There were minor variations between replicates, as assessed by the low relative standard deviation (RSD) from the mean value of the results. The highest production of volatile fatty acids in this experiment was obtained at 45h with an average of VFAs production of 3.4 g/L, with RSD of 1.4% and pH 5.6. The chemical oxygen demand (COD) and the amount of cyanide in manipueira were analyzed being 8865 mg/L of O2 and 1.9 mg/L, respectively, among other physical and chemical characteristics that were determined. After the anaerobic fermentation process, a reduction of 21.6% of COD amount and 12.9% of cyanide amount were obtained, indicating that the production of VFAs not only aggregates value to the manipueira but also contributes to the reduction of important contaminants. O cultivo da mandioca se estende por todo o Brasil, dada à fácil adaptação aos diferentes tipos de solos e condições climáticas. Nosso país ocupa o segundo lugar no cultivo dessa planta (15% da produção mundial). O processamento industrial da mandioca gera a manipueira como resíduo líquido, considerado poluente devido à alta carga orgânica e por conter um glicosídeo cianogênico que é hidrolisável a cianeto. Uma das maneiras de minimizar os impactos ambientais e agregar valor ao efluente é a sua utilização na produção de ácidos graxos voláteis (AGVs) via fermentação anaeróbia, objetivo principal deste trabalho, o qual foi realizado utilizando a manipueira como substrato e inóculo de dejeto suíno. O processo fermentativo na produção dos AGVs caracteriza-se, como resultado da atividade das bactérias acidogênicas, pela diminuição do pH e aumento da hidrólise e acidificação da matéria orgânica. Foram testados em meio sintético, à temperatura de 30 ºC e pH inicial de 7,0, inóculos de dejetos de suínos e bovinos para definir o melhor inóculo na produção dos ácidos graxos voláteis, sendo o dejeto de suíno o que apresentou os melhores resultados e por isso foi utilizado nas fermentações posteriores. Além do parâmetro de produção de AGVs também foram monitorados o comportamento do pH, acidez e alcalinidade em todos os experimentos. Em fermentações realizadas com a manipueira como substrato, testaram-se diferentes concentrações de glicose como principal fonte de carbono (1, 2, 5 e 9 g/L) e observou-se que a concentração de 2 g/L de glicose produziu cerca de 2,5 g/L de AGVs, expressos como ácido acético, em 36h e com pH 5,0, sendo esta a concentração de glicose utilizada nos experimentos posteriores. Diferentes níveis de alcalinidade e temperatura foram testados através de planejamentos experimentais em que a melhor condição observada foi em 30ºC com 3 g/L de bicarbonato de sódio, obtendo-se 3,4 g/L de AGVs em 45h. A partir dessas condições validou-se o modelo para produção de AGVs realizando fermentações em triplicata e avaliando quanto à repetibilidade do processo. Verificaram-se variações mínimas entre as réplicas, avaliadas pelo baixo desvio padrão relativo (DPR) obtido pela média dos resultados. A maior produção de ácidos graxos voláteis neste experimento foi obtida em 45h com média de 3,4 g/L de AGVs, DPR de 1,4% e pH em 5,6. A demanda química de oxigênio (DQO) e a quantidade de cianeto analisadas na manipueira eram de 8865 mg/L de O2 e 1,9 mg/L, respectivamente, entre outras características físico-químicas determinadas. Após o processo de fermentação anaeróbia obteve-se redução de 21,6% da quantidade de DQO e 12,9% da quantidade de cianeto, indicando que a produção de AGVs, além de agregar valor a manipueira, contribui na redução de contaminantes importantes.

The characterization of wastewater from an industry of electroplating was performed and the results were the basis for obtaining the aqueous solution used at work. Experiments were performed in batch system for the valuation of ion exchange kinetics of the binary systems Ni+2–Na+, Zn+2–Na+ and the ternary system Ni+2–Zn+2–Na+ in the initial concentrations of 20ppm and 200ppm, in the conditions of pH 4.5, agitation speed of 150rpm and 25ºC. Two models were tested to obtain kinetic parameters of ion exchange. In the simulation of kinetic model in which the ion exchange reaction was considered the limiting step during the model does not fit the experimental data. A second simulation, where the diffusion in the resin (linear driving force model) was assumed to be limiting step had better fit and evidence for the hypothesis that the experimental conditions the ion exchange process presents diffusional limitations. The value of mass transfer coefficients in the resin (ks) varied from 0.0032 to 0.043min-1. Kinetic studies showed that equilibrium is reached around 400 minutes for the systems with initial concentration of 20ppm and 60 minutes for systems with initial concentration of 200ppm. Experiments to obtain data of ion exchange equilibrium were performed for the binary systems Ni+2–Na+, Zn+2–Na+ and for the ternary system Ni+2–Zn+2–Na+ at concentrations of 160ppm and 300ppm (pH 4.5, agitation speed of 150rpm and 25ºC). The isotherms were modeled using the law of mass action ideal and not ideal. The Bromley and Wilson models were used to calculate the activity coefficient in solution and resin. Simulations were conducted for determining the value of the constant and equilibrium thermodynamics of the interaction parameters of Wilson. The results showed that the law of mass action is not ideal fits well the experimental data of binary systems. The simulation of the ternary equilibrium system was accomplished using a predictive, based on the interaction parameters of Wilson and equilibrium constants provided by the modeling of binary systems. The data predicted by the model were compared with experimental data and the results showed that the model was able to predict the behavior of the ternary system. The affinity of the studied ions with Amberlite IR-120 showed the following order: Zn+2 Ni+2 > Na+. For all experiments conducted in this study, the variation of pH and stoichiometry during the experiments were evaluated. For the parameter pH, speciation graphics were done using the HYDRA software and the results show that ions of interest in the solutions (Zn+2 and Ni+2) were above 95%. The average deviation from stoichiometry was less than 8%. O presente trabalho avaliou a remoção dos íons de metais pesados Zn+2 e Ni+2 através do processo de troca iônica utilizando a resina catiônica Amberlite IR-120/Na+. A caracterização do efluente de uma indústria do ramo de galvanoplastia foi realizada e os resultados obtidos serviram de base para a obtenção da solução aquosa utilizada no trabalho. Experimentos foram realizados em sistema batelada para a avaliação da cinética de troca iônica dos sistemas binários Ni+2–Na+, Zn+2–Na+ e para o sistema ternário Ni+2–Zn+2–Na+ nas concentrações iniciais de 20ppm e 200ppm, nas condições de pH de 4.5, velocidade de agitação de 150rpm e temperatura de 25ºC. Dois modelos foram testados para obtenção de parâmetros de cinética de troca iônica. Na simulação do modelo cinético em que a reação de troca iônica foi considerada a etapa limitante o modelo não se ajustou aos dados experimentais. Uma segunda simulação, em que a difusão na resina (modelo da força motriz linear) foi assumida como etapa limitante apresentou melhor ajuste e evidencia a hipótese de que para as condições experimentais adotadas o processo de troca iônica apresenta limitações difusionais. O valor dos coeficientes de transferência de massa na resina (ks) apresentaram valores entre 0,0032-0,043min-1. Estudos cinéticos mostraram que o equilíbrio é atingido em torno de 400 minutos para os sistemas com concentração inicial de 20ppm e de 60 minutos para os sistemas com concentração inicial de 200ppm. Experimentos para obtenção de dados de equilíbrio de troca iônica foram realizados para os sistemas binários Ni+2–Na+, Zn+2–Na+ e para o sistema ternário Ni+2–Zn+2–Na+ nas concentrações de 160ppm e 300ppm (pH de 4.5, velocidade de agitação de 150rpm e temperatura de 25ºC). As isotermas foram modeladas com uso da lei da ação das massas ideal e não ideal. Os modelos de Bromley e Wilson foram utilizados para o cálculo do coeficiente de atividade na solução e na resina. Realizou-se simulação para a determinação do valor da constante termodinâmica de equilíbrio e dos parâmetros de interação de Wilson. Os resultados mostraram que a lei da ação das massas não ideal se ajustou bem aos dados experimentais dos sistemas binários. A simulação do sistema de equilíbrio ternário foi realizada de forma preditiva, baseada nos parâmetros de interação de Wilson e constantes de equilíbrio fornecidas pelas modelagens dos sistemas binários. Os dados preditos pelo modelo foram comparados com os dados experimentais e os resultados mostraram que o modelo foi capaz de prever o comportamento do sistema ternário. A afinidade dos íons estudados com a resina Amberlite IR-120 mostrou a seguinte ordem: Zn+2 Ni+2 > Na+. Para todos os experimentos realizados neste trabalho, a variação de pH e de estequiometria ao longo dos experimentos foram avaliados. Para o parâmetro pH, gráficos de especiação foram realizados com o uso do software HYDRA e os resultados mostram que os íons de interesse nas soluções (Zn+2 e Ni+2) estavam acima de 95%. O desvio médio da estequiometria não foi superior a 8%.

In this way, manipueira a liquid waste from the cassava industrialization possesses characteristics that make use of great interest as a substrate. This work aimed to the production of citric acid by submerged fermentation using cassava wastewater as substrate and supplemented with sucrose by the fungus Aspergillus niger and different sources of nitrogen such as ammonium sulphate, urea and peptone. The fermentation was conducted in Erlenmeyer flasks and bacteriological incubator. Apart from cassava, for comparative purposes of production of citric acid was used the synthetic medium of Prescott & Dunn. Through the results, we found the production of citric acid fermentation in all media tested. The use of peptone associated with the use of ammonium sulfate to the synthetic medium Prescott & Dunn, had a better production (62.9 g/L citric acid) under the conditions studied. For a medium containing cassava the interaction between urea and ammonium sulfate, showed higher yield (78.4 g/L). Regarding the time for fermentation, it was found that the time of 24 h is ideal for higher productivity in the process. By analyzing the concentration of cyanide and COD of the fermentation medium it was obtained a significant reduction in both factors, the pollutant load of cassava was reduced by 53% compared to the initial value of COD content and the initial 0.4 mg/L cyanide decreased to 0.09 mg/L. It was concluded that the feasibility of using cassava to obtain citric acid under the development of clean technologies, converting the residue in a product with higher added value. É importante a utilização de substrato de baixo custo e grande disponibilidade para a produção industrial de ácido cítrico, desta forma, a manipueira, resíduo líquido proveniente da industrialização da mandioca possui características que tornam sua utilização de grande interesse como substrato. Neste trabalho objetivou-se a produção de ácido cítrico por fermentação submersa utilizando a manipueira como substrato e enriquecida com sacarose utilizando o fungo Aspergillus niger além de diferentes fontes de nitrogênio como o sulfato de amônio, a uréia e a peptona. A fermentação foi conduzida em frascos erlenmeyer e em estufa bacteriológica. Além da manipueira, para fins comparativos de produção do ácido cítrico, foi usado o meio sintético de Prescott & Dunn. Através dos resultados obtidos, constatou-se a produção de ácido cítrico em todos os meios fermentados testados. A utilização de peptona associada a utilização do sulfato de amônio para o meio sintético de Prescott & Dunn, apresentou melhor produção (62,9 g/L de ácido cítrico) sob as condições estudadas. Para o meio contendo a manipueira a interação entre a uréia e sulfato de amônio apresentou maior produção (78,4 g/L). Em relação ao tempo para a fermentação, foi constatado que o tempo de 24 h é o ideal para maior produtividade no processo. Ao analisar a concentração de cianeto e de DQO do meio de fermentação obteve-se uma redução expressiva em ambos os fatores, a carga poluente da manipueira foi reduzida em até 53% em relação ao valor inicial de DQO e o teor inicial 0,4 mg/L de cianeto decaiu para 0,09 mg/L. Conclui-se a viabilidade do uso de manipueira para obtenção de ácido cítrico a título do desenvolvimento de tecnologias limpas, convertendo o resíduo em questão em um produto de maior valor agregado.

There are many events such as the discharging of untreated effluents in watercourses that cause the eutrophization of water bodies and bad water quality, as well as an inefficiency or lack of a current environmental law. The main goal of this dissertation was the application of solar and artificial-based photo-Fenton processes and aluminum electrodes-based electrocoagulation method in non coupled mode and in an integrated mode for the tannery effluent treatment. These effluent treatments were carried out in lab-scale reactors. In order to evaluate the performance of the reactor experimental conditions of photo-Fenton reactor, a 33 complete experimental design was performed. The lab scale EC reactor was operated at the 4 A electrical current, 4 cm electrode distance and 3 initial pH optimized values, according to the previous results obtained in another work, while the electrolysis time was varied from 5 to 120 min. For EC and photo-Fenton reactors, their performance was evaluated on the removal values of chemical oxygem demand (COD), color, turbidity, total solids (TS), total fixed solids (TFS), total volatile solids (TVS) and metal concentration. Measurements of physico-chemical parameters for untreated and treated effluent samples were performed applying the Standard Method for water analysis, while metal concentrations were determined by the Synchrotron radiation total Reflexion X-ray Fluorescence technique at Brazilian Light Synchrotron Laboratory. By an optimized photon-Fenton process at 0.5 g Fe2+ L-1, 30 g H2O2 L-1, 3 initial pH, and 120 min reaction time, tannery effluent was treated achieving a high performance in pollutant removal as reported by 98.1, 96.4, 98.8, 71.8, 32.1 and 98.5 percent removal for COD, color, turbidity, TS, TFS, and TVS, respectively. As a primer treatment stage, electrocoagulation technique was not achieved a well successful result based on the physico-chemical parameter values reduction as compared with photo-Fenton process. However, an integrated solar irradiation-based photo-Fenton and Al electrodes-based electrocoagulation with 15 min electrolysis time has achieved recommended values by the Brazilian environmental law for Cr concentration (0.24 mg Cr L-1) and DQO (107 mg O2 L-1). Considering both the costs of electrical energy and material and the generated sludge discharging, one m3 of tannery effluent should cost R$ 56.30 for a treatment system based on an integrated and optimized photo Fenton and electrocoagulation processes. Finally, the integrated solar-based photo Fenton and electrocoagulation method is suggested as an efficient one, instead to apply a unique process. A poluição ambiental é um dos grandes problemas nos países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento. Isto é decorrente de uma série de fatores, como o despejo de efluentes não tratados em corpos hídricos e a ineficiência e/ou a falta de legislação ambiental vigente. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é aplicar os processos foto-Fenton com irradiação solar e/ou artificial, a técnica da eletrofloculação e a integração destes processos no tratamento de efluente de curtume. Ambos os processos de tratamento do foto-Fenton e da eletrofloculação foram conduzidos em reatores a escala laboratorial. Para a técnica da eletrofloculação foi utilizado um par de placas de alumínio como eletrodos no reator de eletrofloculação. Para avaliar as melhores condições de processo do sistema foto-Fenton, foi aplicado um planejamento experimental 33 completo. Para a técnica da eletrofloculação manteve-se constante a intensidade de corrente, pH inicial do efluente bruto e distância entre os eletrodos, variando-se o tempo de eletrólise de 5 à 120 min. A eficiência de ambos os processos foram avaliadas com base na redução de Demanda química de oxigênio (DQO), cor, turbidez, sólidos totais (ST), sólidos totais fixos (STF), sólidos totais voláteis (STV). Para a técnica da eletrofloculação e dos processos integrados também foram avaliados a redução da concentração dos metais pesados. Todas as medidas dos parâmetros físico-químicos foram realizadas aplicando os métodos padrões do Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater para amostra não tratada e tratada. As concentrações dos metais pesados foram determinadas usando a técnica de fluorescência de raio X por reflexão total, na linha de Luz (D09-XRF) do Laboratório Nacional de Luz Synchrotron. A maior eficiência na redução dos poluentes verificada no processo foto-Fenton foi de 98,1, 96,4, 98,8, 71,8, 32,1 e 98,5 para valores da DQO, cor, turbidez, ST, STF e STV, respectivamente, nas condições operacionais do reator: concentração de ferro de 0,5 gL-1, concentração de peróxido de hidrogênio de 30 gL-1, pH inicial 3 e tempo reacional de 120 min. No entanto a técnica da eletrofloculação não apresentou boa redução nos valores dos parâmetros físico-químicos. Após a aplicação dos processos integrados do foto-Fenton com irradiação solar e da eletrofloculação em tempo de eletrólise de 15 min, foi alcançado valores mínimos de Cr e DQO no efluente tratado, contendo 0,24 mg Cr L-1 e 107 mg O2 L-1 da DQO. O custo do tratamento do efluente e da disposição final do lodo gerado no processo integrado FFs→EF foi de R$ 56,30 m3 do efluente de curtume tratado. Este processo integrado reduziu as concentrações de cromo, ferro e DQO, a níveis permitidos pelas legislações ambientais. Baseada na redução da matéria orgânica e inorgânica, o método integrado FFs→EF pode ser recomendado como uma substituição eficiente ao método individual.

The textile sector is a major producer of chemicals, such as colors, and generator large volumes of effluent. The textile dye is a product of high toxicity, and most of them are considered carcinogenic. Thus the removal of dyes in industrial effluents is of great interest, since such contaminants can affect water clarity, the solubility of gases in receiving bodies and change the processes of photosynthesis. In addition there are technologies for the removal of dye of effluent, such as activated charcoal, few studies have examined the ability of dye removal by biological origin, which would decrease the cost of treating this waste. Thus the process of biosorption used in this study was to investigate the application of macrophyte Salvinia sp. in nature and pre-treated in a basic with NaOH, and an acid with H3PO4, as low cost biosorbent for the removal of dye Blue 5G. The effect of pH and temperature was investigated in the biosorption process and proved to be variables that affect the ability to remove the dye solution. The adsorption data were adjusted to balance using the kinetic models of pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order. The models of adsorption isotherms of Langmuir, Freundlich and Sips were used to describe the experimental data of equilibrium of biosorption process. The thermodynamic parameters of biosorption process were obtained. The results showed that the balance of the system was reached in approximately 48 hours of contact, with removal of dye Blue 5G of 98.35% for the Salvinia sp. in nature, at pH 1 and temperature of 60°C and 97.06% for the Salvinia sp. pre-treated with NaOH, 96.42% for the Salvinia sp. pre-treated with H3PO4 at a temperature of 45°C. The model of pseudo-second order showed satisfactory fit with experimental data. Among the models studied, the Langmuir isotherm described excellently the experimental data for the three biomasses studied, with maximum adsorption capacity of 24.26 mg/g at 30°C for biomass pre-treated in basic mean. The study of thermodynamic parameters of biosorption of dye Blue 5G showed that biosorption is endothermic nature and has a great affinity between the biomass and dye. This study found that the biomass of macrophyte Salvinia sp. pré-treated with NaOH has potential application in the removal of reactive dye Blue 5G, as alternative adsorbent and low cost. Entre os principais contribuintes para a contaminação de águas por resíduos industriais pode-se citar a indústria têxtil. O setor têxtil é conhecido pela elevada utilização de produtos químicos, como os corantes, e gerador de grandes volumes de efluente. O corante têxtil é um produto de alta toxicidade, sendo que em sua maioria são considerados carcinogênicos. Desta forma a remoção de corantes em efluentes industriais é de grande interesse, uma vez que esse contaminante pode afetar a transparência da água, a solubilidade dos gases nos corpos receptores e alterar os processos de fotossíntese. Mesmo com variadas tecnologias para remoção de corante do efluente, como carvão ativado, são raros os estudos que tem analisado a capacidade de remoção de corantes por origem biológica, o que diminuiria os custos de tratamento desse resíduo. Desta forma o processo de biossorção empregado neste trabalho teve por objetivo investigar a aplicação da macrófita Salvínia sp. in natura, e pré-tratada em meio básico com NaOH, e em meio ácido com H3PO4, como biossorvente de baixo custo para a remoção do corante comercial reativo Azul 5G. O efeito do pH e da temperatura foi investigado no processo de biossorção e mostraram ser variáveis que afetam a capacidade de remoção do corante da solução. Os dados de adsorção de equilíbrio foram ajustados empregando os modelos cinéticos de pseudo-primeira ordem e pseudo-segunda ordem. Os modelos de isotermas de adsorção de Langmuir, Freundlich e Sips foram utilizados para descrever os dados experimentais de equilíbrio do processo de biossorção. Os parâmetros termodinâmicos do processo de biossorção foram obtidos. Os resultados demonstraram que o equilíbrio do sistema foi atingido em aproximadamente 48 horas de contato, com remoção de corante Azul 5G de 98,35% para a Salvínia sp. in natura e 97,06% para a Salvinia sp. pré-tratada com NaOH, em pH 1 e temperatura de 60°C, e remoção de 96,42% para a Salvínia sp. pré-tratada com H3PO4 em temperatura de 45°C. O modelo de pseudo-segunda ordem apresentou ajuste satisfatório com os dados experimentais. Entre os modelos estudados, a isoterma de Langmuir e Sips descreveram satisfatoriamente os dados experimentais para as três biomassas estudadas, apresentando capacidade máxima de adsorção de 24,26 mg/g e 24,83 mg/g, para Langmuir e Sips, respectivamente, à temperatura de 30°C para a biomassa pré-tratada em meio básico. O estudo dos parâmetros termodinâmicos de biossorção do corante Azul 5G demonstrou que a biossorção é de natureza endotérmica e demonstra grande afinidade entre a biomassa e o corante. Este estudo verificou que a biomassa da macrófita Salvínia sp. pré-tratada com NaOH apresenta potencial de aplicação na remoção do corante reativo Azul 5G, como adsorvente alternativo e de baixo custo.

In the present work, the invertase was produced by Aspergillus casiellus through solid state fermentation, using the industrial waste of soy bran, during a period of 72 h at 25ºC. The enzyme extraction was done by shaking at 120 rpm to period of 1h. The extract obtained was filtered and stocked in freezer. The enzyme recovery was done throughout the protein precipitation with organic solvents, ammonium sulphate and thermal shock. The invertase purification was carried-out in anion-exchange chromatography DEAE-cellulose. It was characterized the enzyme activity of fermented material, the stability relationship to temperature and pH, optimum temperature and pH, effect of the presence of some ions, chelating, redutors agents and detergents, beyond the neutral carbohydrate content determination and specificity to the substrate. The specific enzyme activity was 1029,75 U/mg after the period of 72h of fermentation using soybean bran as substrate. The precipitation with ammonium sulphate and solvents was less efficient than thermal shock for the invertase recovery. The enzyme was purified through thermal shock and anion-exchange chromatography in DEAE-cellulose with a purification factor of 30,30 fold and a yield of 42,70%. The electrophoretic analyses demonstrated that the studied invertase presents molar mass around 25.5 kDa. After submitted to the purification steps, the enzyme showed optimum pH 4.0 and temperature 70ºC. In relation to the stability, after 24 hours of incubation at pH 4.0, the invertase maintained 50% of residual activity. The invertase showed thermalstability at 60 70ºC not arrive the half-life time in 240 minutes was observed 40% of the catalytic capacity remained. In temperatures of 75-85ºC, 40% of residual activity were maintained after 4h of incubation. The partially purified invertase didn´t need metallic ions for catalytic activity, but the presence of Al3+ and Cu+ improved the activity, and Sn2+ challenged decrease in the activity. Sugar content corresponded to 36.57% of total mass protein. The invertase of A. casiellus demonstrated specificity to sucrose. For purification of the invertase of Aspergillus casiellus, induced through soybean bran, were needed 2 steps made up anion-exchange chromatography DEAE-cellulose, which turn the process practible and with few time despended relationship to the others process. The use of agroindustrial waste to obtain invertase is becoming an instrument to development of clean technology, converting the waste in a valuable product. A invertase, enzima encontrada em leveduras, sobretudo na espécie Sacharomyces cerevisiae, invertebrados, vertebrados, algas verdes, bactérias, vegetais e fungos, é uma das principais responsáveis pela hidrólise da sacarose para a formação de açúcar invertido e é utilizada por indústrias alimentícias e farmacêuticas, na hidrólise da rafinose, inulina e gentianose. No presente trabalho objetivou-se a purificação e caracterização parcial da invertase, obtida por fermentação em estado sólido. A invertase foi produzida por Aspergillus casiellus utilizando como substrato farelo de soja por um período de 72 a 220h, a 25 ºC. A extração das enzimas foi feita utilizando shaker a 120 rpm por um período de 1h. O extrato obtido foi filtrado e estocado em freezer. A recuperação da enzima invertase foi feita através de precipitação das proteínas com solventes orgânicos, sulfato de amônio e através de choque térmico. A purificação da invertase foi conduzida em coluna de DEAE-celulose. Foram caracterizados atividade enzimática do material fermentado, a estabilidade quanto à temperatura e ao pH, temperatura e pH ótimos, efeito da presença de íons, quelantes, agentes redutores e detergentes, além da determinação de carboidratos neutros e especificidade ao substrato. A atividade específica do extrato bruto foi de 1029,75 após um período de 72h de fermentação usando o farelo de soja como substrato. A recuperação por precipitação por sulfato de amônio e solventes foi menos eficiente que um choque térmico para a recuperação da invertase do extrato bruto. A enzima foi parcialmente purificada através de precipitação por choque térmico (utilizando sobrenadante) e cromatografia de troca aniônica em DEAE-celulose com um fator de purificação de 30,30 vezes e rendimento de 42,70%. As análises eletroforéticas estimaram a massa molecular da invertase estudada em torno de 25,5 kDa. Após ser submetida às etapas de purificação, a enzima manteve as condições ótimas de pH 4,0 e de temperatura 70 ºC. Após 24 horas de incubação em pH 4,0, a invertase homogênea manteve 50% de atividade enzimática residual. A invertase demonstrou termoresistência em temperaturas de 60 a 70ºC não atingindo o tempo de meia vida em 240 minutos. Nas temperaturas de 75 a 80ºC foram mantidas aproximadamente 40% da atividade residual após 4 horas de incubação. A invertase parcialmente purificada não demonstrou a necessidade de íons metálicos para a ativação catalítica, mas a presença de íons Al3+ e Cu+ provocaram aumento da atividade, enquanto que Sn2+ diminuiu a atividade catalítica. O conteúdo de carboidratos corresponde a 36,57% da massa total de proteína. A invertase do A. casiellus demonstrou ser especificidade à sacarose. Para a purificação da invertase de Aspergillus casiellus, induzido por farelo de soja, foram necessários 2 passos constituídos de colunas cromatográficas de troca-iônica DEAE-Celulose, o que torna o processo viável e com tempo despendido em relação a outros processos. O uso de resíduo agroindustrial para obtenção da invertase torna-se uma ferramenta para o desenvolvimento de tecnologias limpas, convertendo o resíduo em questão em um produto de maior valor agregado.

Because of these characteristics, the effluent of electroplating industries require efficient processes to achieve the levels of concentration and physical and chemical parameters recommended by the environmental legislation. In this context we evaluated the efficiency of organic coagulants (seeds of Moringa oleifera Lam, chitosan, Tanfloc SG and Acquapol C1) and inorganic (aluminum sulfate and ferric chloride) in the first stage of wastewater treatment of electroplating through a planning saturated Plackett and Burman (PB12) followed by a central composite rotational design (DCCR). The following variables were studied: concentration (C), velocity of rapid mixing (VMR) and slow (VML) and time of rapid mix (TMR) and slow (TML), with 30 min of sedimentation, and the response variables analyzed for each coagulant: color, turbidity, settleable solids and COD. Among the agents coagulants/flocculants tested after the completion of PB12, the best combination of results for the removal of the studied parameters occurred with chitosan. The operating conditions were optimized by the statistical program: TMR of 100 rpm, TML of 20 rpm, VMR and VML of 6 and 30 min, respectively, concentration of 12.67 ppm and sedimentation time of 30 min. These conditions it is expected to remove 89.44% of color, 96.87% of turbidity and 35.81% of COD. Based on the results obtained chitosan presented a promising coagulant to the wastewater treatment of electroplating. Os processos de galvanização geram efluentes com elevados teores de metais pesados e grande quantidade de materiais dissolvidos e suspensos, ocasionando altos valores de cor e turbidez, respectivamente. Devido a estas características o efluente das indústrias de galvanoplastia requerem processos eficientes para alcançar os níveis de concentração e parâmetros físico-químicos recomendados pela legislação ambiental. Neste contexto o presente trabalho avaliou a eficiência de coagulantes orgânicos (sementes de Moringa oleifera Lam, quitosana, Tanfloc SG e Acquapol C1) e inorgânicos (sulfato de alumínio e cloreto férrico) na primeira etapa de tratamento de efluente de galvanoplastia, por meio de um planejamento de Plackett e Burman (PB12) seguido de um Delineamento Composto Central Rotacional (DCCR). As seguintes variáveis foram estudadas: concentração (C), velocidade de mistura rápida (VMR) e lenta (VML) e tempo de mistura rápida (TMR) e lenta (TML), com 30 min de sedimentação, sendo as variáveis de resposta analisadas para cada coagulante: cor, turbidez, sólidos sedimentáveis e DQO. Dentre os agentes coagulantes/floculantes testados, após a realização do PB12, a melhor combinação de resultados para a remoção dos parâmetros estudados ocorreu com a quitosana. As condições operacionais otimizadas pelo programa estatístico foram: TMR de 100 rpm, TML de 20 rpm, VMR e VML de 6 e 30 min, respectivamente, concentração de 12,67 ppm e tempo de sedimentação de 30 min. Nestas condições espera-se remover 89,44% de cor, 96,87% de turbidez e 35,81% de DQO. Com base nos resultados obtidos a quitosana se apresentou um coagulante promissor para o tratamento do efluente de galvanoplastia.

They are characterized by requesting great amounts of water, coloring and chemical products used along a complex productive chain. Besides the enormous consumption of water, those industries generate effluent composed by organic and complex salts, which ones turn pollute more when the liberation of dyes is observed no fastened, or no degraded in the conventional processes of treatment, what represents a high potential of environmental impact. Several methods of removal of dyes and of other existent chemical compositions in the effluent have been used in industrial level. One of the most employed methods is the adsorption onto carbon activated due to the versatility, efficiency and low obtaining costs. However, the project of the treatment of textile effluent for adsorption requests information regarding the removal capacity and of the kinetics. They are several factors that interfere in that process, among them they stand out the temperature and the pH, being this one what has larger effect. In this work the removal of the dyes reactive blue 5G and turquoise blue QG were investigated onto carbon activated commercial driven in system batch, once these dyes are plenty employed in the processes involving fabrics type jeans . Initially they went rehearsals to characterize the adsorbent, determination of the point of zero charge (PCZ) and of the surface area for the method BET using N2 to 77K, infrared to obtain the functional groups of the carbon, and sifting to determine the diameter of the particles. For PCZ the obtained value was of 8,10 and the surface area was of 618,7 m2/g. Kinetic tests were accomplished in pH 2 and in three different temperatures, 30, 45 and 600C. They were appraised the pseudo-first-order models and the pseudo-second-order to describe the kinetics of adsorption of the dyes, and the model of second order presented the best results. It was also certain the coefficient of diffusion of the dyes in the temperatures of 30, 45 and 600C, that presented the following values respectively: 5,38 x 10-7, 1,42 x 10-7, 2,74 x 10-7 cm2/min for the blue color 5G, and 2,54 x 10-7, 9,38 x 10-8, 1,48 x 10-6 cm2 /min for the blue turquise QG. For the influence of the pH and of the temperature in the balance of the adsorption of the dyes experiments were accomplished in system batch. The strip of investigated acidity was among pH 2 even pH 8. It was also accomplished the experiments for the obtaining of the equilibrium data in the temperatures of 30, 45 and 600C and in the best pH condition. The equilibrium data were represented by the following models of Isotherms of adsorption: Langmuir, Freudlich, Toth, Radke-Praunstiz, Sips and Redlich-Peterson. The process of adsorption had a better acting in the conditions of pH 2 and temperature of 300C, the removed amount was of 140,48 mg / g for the dye blue 5G and 148,54 mg / g for the dye turquise blue QG. The Isotherm of Sips, Tóth and Redlich-Peterson were what best represented the experimental data of equilibrium for the dye blue 5G and also for the turquoise blue QG. The thermodynamic parameters ∆H0, ∆G0 and ∆S0 were appraised and they showed that the adsorption of the colors in activated coal is an exothermic and spontaneous process due to the negative values of enthalpy and energy free from Gibbs, respectively. As indústrias têxteis compreendem atualmente uma das maiores do mundo em termos de produção e número de empregos gerados. Caracterizam-se por requerer grandes quantidades de água, corantes e produtos químicos utilizados ao longo de uma complexa cadeia produtiva. Além do enorme consumo de água, essas indústrias geram efluentes compostos por sais orgânicos e complexos, os quais se tornam ainda mais poluidores quando observa-se a liberação de corantes não fixados, ou não degradados nos processos convencionais de tratamento, o que representa um elevado potencial de impacto ambiental. Vários métodos de remoção de corantes e de outros compostos químicos existentes no efluente tem sido utilizados em nível industrial. Um dos métodos mais empregados é a adsorção em carvão ativado devido à versatilidade, eficiência e baixos custos de obtenção. Entretanto, o projeto do tratamento de efluentes têxteis por adsorção requer informações a respeito da capacidade de remoção e da cinética. São vários fatores que interferem nesse processo, dentre eles destacam-se a temperatura e o pH, sendo este ultimo o que tem maior efeito. Neste trabalho foram investigadas a remoção dos corantes reativos azul 5G e azul turquesa QG em carvão ativado comercial conduzidos em sistema batelada, uma vez que estes corantes são bastante empregados nos processos envolvendo tecidos tipo jeans. Com o objetivo de caracterizar o adsorvente, análises como determinação do ponto de carga zero (PCZ), área superficial pelo método BET utilizando N2 a 77K, infravermelho para obter os grupos funcionais do carvão e peneiramento para determinar o diâmetro das partículas foram realizadas. Para o PCZ o valor obtido foi de 8,10 e a área superficial foi de 618,7 m2/g. Os testes cinéticos tiveram o pH fixado em 2, e foram avaliados em três diferentes temperaturas, 30, 45 e 600C. Os modelos de pseudo-primeira-ordem e o pseudo-segunda-ordem foram realizados para descrever a cinética de adsorção dos corantes, sendo que o modelo de segunda ordem apresentou os melhores resultados. Além disso, o coeficiente de difusão dos corantes foi avaliado nas temperaturas de 30, 45 e 600C, que apresentaram respectivamente os seguintes valores: 5,38 x 10-7, 1,42 x 10-7, 2,74 x 10-7 cm2/min para o corante azul 5G, e 2,54 x 10-7, 9,38 x 10-8, 1,48 x 10-6 cm2/min corante azul turquesa.Para a influência do pH e da temperatura no equilíbrio da adsorção dos corantes foram realizados experimentos em sistema bateladas. A faixa de acidez investigada foi entre pH 2 até pH 8. Também foram realizadas experimentos para a obtenção dos dados de equilíbrio nas temperaturas de 30, 45 e 600C e na melhor condição de pH. Os dados de equilíbrio foram representados pelos seguintes modelos de Isotermas de adsorção: Langmuir, Freudlich, Toth, Radke-Praunstiz, Sips e Redlich-Peterson. O processo de adsorção teve um melhor desempenho nas condições de pH 2 e temperatura de 300C, a quantidade removida foi de 140,48 mg/g para o corante azul 5G e 148,54 mg/g para o corante azul turquesa QG. As Isoterma de Sips, Tóth e Redlich-Peterson foram as que melhor representaram os dados experimentais de equilíbrio para o corante azul 5G e também para o corante azul turquesa QG. Os parâmetros termodinâmicos ∆H0, ∆G0 e ∆S0 foram avaliados e mostraram que a adsorção dos corantes em carvão ativado é um processo exotérmico e espontâneo devido aos valores negativos de entalpia e energia livre de Gibbs, respectivamente.

However, due to the search for getting oils with larger quality, without thermal degradation of wished components and safe techniques with contamination reduction by the solvents, a great interest has been demonstrated in the processes development with supercritical fluid in oils and fats industries. Therefore, the current study aimed at to investigate the sesame seeds oil extraction, using the supercritical fluid carbon dioxide and pressurized n-propane. At first, it was made the seeds characterization, and after drying, grind and sifting, they were submitted to the oil extraction with the fluid supercritical CO2 under temperature in different conditions (40, 50 and 60 ºC) and pressure (19, 22 and 25 MPa) and with n-propane in the temperature conditions of 30, 45 and 60 ºC and of pressure of 8, 10 and 12 MPa. The experiments were led through factorial planning with central point of the kind 22 and the processes were compared with the conventional extraction in joint soxhlet with solvent n-hexane. The oil samples were submitted to the analyses of fat acids quantification and differential scanning calorimetry, and the pie was analyzed regarding its protein level. With the data obtained in the extractions were tried the models: Sovová, Tan and Liou and an empiric kinetic model of second order. The most common employed process to the canola oil extraction is the use of organic solvents, normally it is used the n-hexane that is toxic, flammable, coming from non-renewable source and hazardous to the employees health. Pharmaceutical products, food and cosmetics can be got with the use of a solvent in the supercritical phase with the advantage of using non-toxic solvents and of working on very relatively low temperatures, being easily separated of the final product due to its high volatility, resulting in higher increase and selectivity to the ones found in the conventional processes. This work had as objective to study the behavior of canola solubility by using supercritical CO2 and pressurized n-propane in different experimental conditions and comparing to the conventional extraction. The operational conditions by using the supercritical CO2 as a solvent were: the temperatures of 40, 50 e 60 ºC and pressure of 20, 22,5 e 25 MPa. For the npropane solvent were established temperatures of 30, 45 e 60 ºC and pressure of 8, 10 e 12 MPa. The experimental planning applied on this study was the Factorial Planning with a central point of the type 22. The extracted samples in the different operational conditions were submitted to the oxidative stability analysis through the techniques of Exploratory Differential Calorimeter. It was accomplished the protein analysis of a bran. It was also accomplished a mathematical model through of a second order empirical model and the model of Sovová, to the experimental data obtained in the extraction with CO2 e n-propane. The results for the extraction by using the CO2 as a solvent have shown that the canola oil is more soluble in low temperature and high-pressure conditions. For the pressurized n-propane solvent, the best mass increase has occurred in the condition of higher temperature and pressure. The time for extraction with the n-propane was considerable shorter when compared to other solvents, being a better solvent to be used in the extraction of the canola oil. The conventional extraction with n-hexane has presented a high increase, even though the extraction has happened within a time of 20 hours, much higher when compared to the time of extraction using the supercritical CO2 and the pressurized n-propane. In the oxidative stability analysis of the oils was observed that the obtained oils within the three methods of extraction presented a good time of oxidative induction. The analysis done with the pies have shown that the values between the solvents CO2 and n-propane form next, just changing from the extracted pies with n-hexane, however the time of extraction with this solvent was higher when compared to the others. The mathematical model of a second order as the Sovová model, applied to the experimental data in the extraction with supercritical CO2 and pressurized n-propane, in all the operational conditions has adjusted to the canola oil. Nos dias atuais observa-se um grande interesse no consumo do óleo de canola devido à indicação por médicos e nutricionistas como alimento funcional para pessoas interessadas em uma dieta saudável em razão da sua excelente composição de ácidos graxos. O processo mais comumente utilizado para a extração do óleo de canola é a utilização de solventes orgânicos, geralmente é usado o n-hexano que é tóxico, inflamável, provindo de fonte não renovável e perigosa a saúde de funcionários. Produtos farmacêuticos, alimentícios e cosméticos podem ser obtidos através do uso de um solvente na fase supercrítica com as vantagens de se utilizar solventes atóxicos e de se trabalhar a temperaturas relativamente baixas, sendo facilmente separado do produto final, devido a sua alta volatilidade, resultando em rendimento e seletividades superiores aos obtidos nos processos convencionais. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o comportamento da solubilidade da canola, utilizando CO2 supercrítico e n-propano pressurizado, em diferentes condições experimentais e comparar com a extração convencional. As condições operacionais utilizando o CO2 supercrítico como solvente foram: temperaturas de 40, 50 e 60 ºC e pressões de 20, 22,5 e 25 MPa. Para o solvente n-propano foram estabelecidas temperaturas de 30, 45 e 60 ºC e pressões de 8, 10 e 12 MPa. O planejamento experimental utilizado nesse estudo foi o Planejamento Fatorial com ponto central do tipo 22. As amostras de óleo extraídas nas diferentes condições operacionais foram submetidas à análise de estabilidade oxidativa através da técnica de Calorimetria Diferencial Exploratória. Realizou-se também análise de proteína da torta. Foi realizada a modelagem matemática através de um modelo empírico de segunda ordem e do modelo de Sovová, para os dados experimentais obtidos nas extrações com CO2 e n-propano. Os resultados para as extrações utilizando o CO2 como solvente mostraram que o óleo de canola é mais solúvel em condições de baixa temperatura e pressão elevada. Para o solvente npropano pressurizado, o melhor rendimento de massa ocorreu na condição de maior temperatura e pressão. O tempo de extração com n-propano foi consideravelmente menor quando comparado aos outros solventes, se mostrando um melhor solvente a ser utilizado na extração do óleo de canola. A extração convencional com n-hexano apresentou um alto rendimento, no entanto a extração ocorreu em um tempo de 20 horas, muito acima quando comparado ao tempo de extração utilizando o CO2 supercrítico e n-propano pressurizado. Na análise da estabilidade oxidativa dos óleos, observou-se que os óleos obtidos nos três métodos de extração apresentaram um bom tempo de indução oxidativa. As análises de proteína realizadas nas tortas demonstraram que os valores entre os solventes CO2 e npropano foram próximos, diferindo apenas das tortas extraídas com n-hexano, porém o tempo de extração com esse solvente foi maior quando comparado aos demais. O modelo matemático de segunda ordem, assim como o modelo de Sovová, aplicado aos dados experimentais na extração com CO2 supercrítico e n-propano pressurizado, se ajustaram em todas as condições operacionais para a extração do óleo de canola.

The glass fibers were obtained by classical fusion followed by the stretch of the vitreous fused mass, where the diameter of the fibers was controlled by the stretching velocity. They were recovered with ZnO by dip-coating and sol-gel processing of deposition, using both inorganic and organic polymeric gel methods, where the zinc acetate dihydrate was the zinc oxide precursor. The superficial morphology of the fiber was verified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the zinc oxide layer was characterized by mapping of Kα and Lα lines of the zinc by EDX analyses. The results of the SEM characterization pointed out the deposition of ZnO by inorganic polymeric gel method results in a thick layer of the oxide without apparent porosity, while by the organic polymeric gel method results a dip homogeneous and porous layer of ZnO over the glass fiber surface. The glass fibers recovered with ZnO by organic polymeric gel were used to develop an analytical methodology to simultaneous determination of trihalomethanes (THM´s) in drinking water using headspace-SPME-Gas Chromatography. The study was based on the selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision and recovery of the analytical method using the glass fiber/ZnO. The effect of the salt addition, extraction temperature and extraction, desorption and incubated time on the analytical response were evaluated too. Good linear dynamic range was observed from the method quantification limits with correlation coefficients better than 0.9900 for all compounds. The method was accurate with recoveries ranging from 95,00 to 105,00%. and the range of linearity observed was 30 ng/mL to 500 ng/mL to trichloromethane, 20 ng/mL to 250 ng/mL to dichlorobromomethane and dibromochloromethane and 10 ng/mL to 100 ng/mL to tribromethane. The method is also robust and has great potential to be used in a trihalomethane determination. No presente trabalho encontram-se descritas a metodologia para obtenção, e para a modificação da superfície de fibras de vidro de composição Li2O - ZrO2 - BaO - SiO2 com óxido de zinco. As fibras de vidro foram obtidas pelo método de fusão clássico, seguido do estiramento da massa vítrea fundida, controlando-se o diâmetro através da velocidade de estiramento. Estas foram recobertas com ZnO, utilizando-se da técnica sol-gel em dip-coating controlado, usando-se os métodos de deposição do gel polimérico inorgânico e do gel polimérico orgânico, onde o acetato de zinco di-hidratado foi empregado como reagente precursor do óxido de zinco. Utilizou-se a técnica de Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV) para avaliar a morfologia das fibras sem recobrimento e das fibras recobertas. O recobrimento com óxido de zinco sobre a superfície das fibras, foi mapeado através das linhas Kα e Lα do zinco, por Microssonda de Energia Dispersiva (EDS), sendo observado uma camada regular de ZnO sobre a superfície do suporte. Através dos resultados obtidos por MEV, verificou-se que pela técnica de deposição do gel polimérico inorgânico as fibras apresentam recobrimento bastante espesso, mas sem porosidade aparente. Quanto à técnica de deposição do gel polimérico orgânico, obtem-se fibras com um recobrimento mais homogêneo, espesso e poroso. Desta forma utilizaram-se as fibras recobertas pelo método do gel polimérico orgânico, para o desenvolvimento de metodologia analítica para determinações cromatográficas de trihalometanos (THM s) em solução aquosa. Utilizou-se da técnica de extração em head-space (HS) por Microextração em Fase Sólida (SPME) (HS-SPME) conjugada a Cromatografia Gasosa (CG). O estudo foi baseado na seletividade, linearidades, exatidão, precisão e na recuperação do método analítico usando a fibra de vidro/ZnO. O efeito da adição de sal, temperatura e tempo de extração, tempo de dessorção e o tempo de incubação na resposta analítica. O bom alcance dinâmico linear, foi observado nos limites da quantificação do método com coeficientes de correlação maiores que 0,99 observados para todos os compostos. O método demonstrou-se exato e com a recuperações que variam de 95,00 a 105,00% com escala de linearidades observadas entre 30 ng/mL a 500 ng/mL para o triclorometano, 20 ng/mL a 250 ng/mL ao diclorobromometano e o dibromoclorometano e 10 ng/mL a 100 ng/mL para o tribromometano. O método apresentou-se robusto, e possui grande potencial para ser usado em determinações de trihalometanos.

The method of treatment used in these industries is basically the system of stabilization. However, in function of the raised organic load, normally the effluent end if does not present in adequately favorable conditions for the ousting in hydrias resources, being essential a complementary treatment, so that the wastewater is adjusted to the current law. Thus, this work had for objective to study the removal of organic substance, nutrients and metals weighed, by means of a batelada system, for the dry biomass of the macrófita Salvinia sp. In this direction, with intention to investigate the factors that influence the capacity of removal of these contaminantes and to understand the mechanisms of this process, it was used as technique of factorial planning rotational central delineation composed - DCCR, verifying the influence of three independent 0 variable: pH initial, initial concentration of biomass - C and agitation -. The gotten results had shown that the best operational conditions had in accordance with varied the studied pollutant, thus best pH were: 5,8 for the match - P and zinc - Zn and 8,2 for the chemical demand of oxygen - DQO, nitrogen - N and have covered - Cu; the best concentration of biomass of 0,0013 g/mL for the DQO, the N, P and Zn and 0,0053 g/mL for the Cu and the 30 agitation of rpm for DQO and N and 120 rpm for the P, Zn and Cu. For the Compact disc removal of 100% in practically all was gotten the assays, in virtue of low the initial concentration of this metal. The gotten results had allowed to conclude respectively that in the best operational conditions the dry biomass of the Salvinia sp. influenced positively in process, reaching 97.91% of removal of DQO, 99.96% of P and 99.67% of N, with initial concentration of 20.480, 121,6 and 350 mg/L. Moreover, the results had shown to the promising character of the Salvinia sp. as biossorvente, being capable to adsorver up to 76,70% of íons of Zn, 99.79% of Cu and 100% of íons Compact disc, in industrias liquid residues contend small metal concentration heavy. The assays with the isotherms of adsorção of Zn and Cu had indicated that the capacity of biossorção of copper and 0,50 zinc had been approximately of 0,70 and meq/g in pH 5,0, being that the best adjustment occurred with the Isotherm of Sips. As indústrias de processamento de mandioca são consideradas grandes poluidoras, pois geram um resíduo líquido altamente poluente, a manipueira, com alta concentração de matéria orgânica. O método de tratamento empregado nestas indústrias é basicamente o sistema de lagoas. Entretanto, em função da elevada carga orgânica, normalmente o efluente final não se apresenta em condições adequadamente favoráveis para o despejo em recursos hídricos, sendo essencial um tratamento complementar, para que o resíduo líquido esteja adequado à legislação vigente. Assim, este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar a remoção de matéria orgânica, nutrientes e metais pesados, por meio de um sistema batelada, pela biomassa seca da macrófita Salvinia sp. Neste sentido, com o intuito de investigar os fatores que influenciam a capacidade de remoção destes contaminantes e para se compreender os mecanismos deste processo, utilizou-se como técnica de planejamento fatorial o delineamento composto central rotacional - DCCR, verificando a influência de três variáveis independentes: pH inicial, concentração inicial de biomassa - C e agitação - A. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as melhores condições operacionais variaram de acordo com o poluente estudado, assim o melhor pH foi: 5,8 para o fósforo - P e zinco - Zn e 8,2 para a demanda química de oxigênio - DQO, nitrogênio - N e cobre -Cu; a melhor concentração de biomassa de 0,0013 g/mL para a DQO, o N, P e Zn e 0,0053 g/mL para o Cu e a agitação de 30 rpm para a DQO e N e 120 rpm para o P, Zn e Cu. Para o Cd obteve-se remoção de 100% em praticamente todos os ensaios, em virtude da baixa concentração inicial deste metal. Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que nas melhores condições operacionais a biomassa seca da Salvinia sp. influenciou positivamente no processo, alcançando 97,91% de remoção de DQO, 99,96% de P e 99,67% de N, com concentração inicial de 20.480, 121,6 e 350 mg/L, respectivamente. Além disso, os resultados mostraram o caráter promissor da Salvinia sp. como biossorvente, sendo capaz de adsorver até 76,70% de íons de Zn, 99,79% de Cu e 100% de íons Cd, em resíduos líquidos industrias contendo pequena concentração de metais pesados. Os ensaios com as isotermas de adsorção de Zn e Cu indicaram que a capacidade de biossorção do cobre e zinco foram aproximadamente de 0,70 e 0,50 meq/g em pH 5,0, sendo que o melhor ajuste ocorreu com a Isoterma de Sips.

For this purpose, several adsorption tests were performed by duplicate in order to determine the optimal experimental conditions, based on the effects of aqueous solution pH, drying temperature, and particle size on mono-component adsorption kinetic and equilibrium experiments using the E. densa dry biomass. Metallic aqueous solutions were prepared dissolving cadmium, cuprum and zinc chlorate (Cl2Cd.H2O, Cl2Cu.2H2O, Cl2Zn) in deionized water. In this way, some biosorption experiments were carried out setting up aqueous solution pH values at 4, 5 and 6 and non-adjusted pH value under constant and controlled temperature at a shaker system for each metallic ion in order to obtain the equilibrium parameters. At each experiment, initial and final metal concentrations were determined by the Atomic Absorption Spectrometry technique. At room temperature and without shaking up, the metal precipitation into the aqueous solution was observed since pH 5 for cadmium and cuprum ions, while for zinc ion this process has began only near to pH 6. Based on the metallic ion removal factor at 30 and 50oC, the best biosorbent drying temperature was obtained at low temperature. On the other hand, the particle size effect onto metal biosorption process is not significant according the similar metallic removal factor for all the different particle sizes investigated. The biosorption kinetic results at non-adjusted pH and 5-adjusted pH and have shown an equilibrium time reduction from 60 to 45 and 30 minutes for cadmium and zinc ion, respectively. While, for cadmium ion, the pH effect was to reduce from 12 to 2 h due to change the aqueous solution pH value from non-adjusted to 5, respectively, with an increasing on removal factor from 60 to 70%. The experimental data were interpreted by four adsorption models. The pseudo first and second order models were used to fit the kinetic biosorption data. For all the metallic ions investigated the pseudo second order model has got fitting better the kinetic biosorption data. On the other hand, the Freundlich and Langmuir model were used to interpret the equilibrium data. For adsorption experiments at pH 5 and according to statistical criteria, the Langmuir model was better than Freundlich one to fit the experimental data. The adsorption parameters, qmax and b, obtained from Langmuir model were 1.28 mequivg-1 and 0.40 L g-1, 1.47 mequivg-1 and 3.73 L g-1, 0.922 mequivg-1 and 0.829 L g-1 for cadmium, cuprum and zinc, respectively. At mono-component biosorption conditions suggested above, the non-living aquatic macrófita E. densa biomass can be used into effluent treatment systems as biosorbent due to its great adsorption potential. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar o potencial da macrófita aquática, Egeria densa, seca, na remoção dos íons metálicos Cd (II), Cu (II) e Zn (II). Foram realizados testes para verificação da influência do pH, temperatura de secagem do biossorvente, temperatura de biossorção e tamanho das partículas a serem utilizados nos testes cinéticos e de equilíbrio. Todos os experimentos foram realizados em duplicata. No estudo de equilíbrio da biossorção dos íons metálicos, monocomponentes, foram realizados experimentos com pH ajustados em 4, 5 e 6 e sem ajuste. Os ensaios foram realizados à temperatura controlada, sob agitação constante. As concentrações dos íons metálicos foram determinadas por espectrofotometria de absorção atômica. Pelo teste de precipitação, realizado em temperatura ambiente e sem agitação, observou-se que acima de pH 5 inicia-se a precipitação para os íons Cd (II) e Cu (II), enquanto para o Zn (II) este processo inicia-se próximo de pH 6. Através do teste de temperatura de secagem e de biossorção verificou-se que a maior porcentagem de remoção ocorre na temperatura de secagem ambiente e a temperatura de biossorção de 30oC. A influência do tamanho das partículas do biossorvente também foi avaliada, sendo a diferença na porcentagem de remoção insignificante para os diferentes tamanhos testados. Na avaliação da influência do pH verificou-se, no teste cinético, que para os íons Cd (II) e Zn (II) ocorreu uma redução no tempo de equilíbrio de 1 hora (sem ajuste) para 45 minutos (pH 5) e para o íon Cu (II) ocorreu uma redução no tempo de equilíbrio de 12 horas (sem ajuste) para 2 horas (pH 5), com aumento na taxa de remoção de 60 para 70%. Na verificação da cinética de biossorção, o melhor ajuste foi obtido pelo modelo de pseudo-segunda ordem, para todos os íons metálicos testados. O modelo que melhor se ajustou aos dados de equilíbrio foi o de Langmuir, com pH ótimo 5, cujos parâmetros qmax e b para os íons de Cd, Cu e Zn em pH 5 foram: 1,28 meq.g-1 e 0,40 l.g-1, 1,47 meq.g-1 e 3,73l.g-1, 0,922 meq.g-1 e 0,829l.g-1, respectivamente. Assim, pelos resultados obtidos pode-se afirmar que a biomassa da macrófita aquática Egeria densa possui grande potencial para o tratamento de efluentes contendo metais pesados.
