The paper aims to approach, in a critical way, but according to the pedagogical principles, the phenomenon of homework premises have regulatory role in ordering the ideas of this paper. Adapted to a qualitative investigation paradigm, the paper positions it's necessity in quantitative confirmed realities: the negative image that homework gets as students advance to the school "career", the altered meaning and functions that teachers give to homework. The blended analyse covered diverse aspects of homework phenomenon: its' status in lessons' design, implicit in school learning management, its' essential and authentic functions, the pedagogical evaluation and capitalization. This article is the transcription of a paper given at an international conference held in Constanța on 10-12th June 2016 entitled "Man -- an eternal challenge" and for this reason its subject is man seen from the perspective of the pedagogy of work in the era of cognitive capitalism. Understanding the motivation behind getting involved in voluntary activities has been the topic of several studies conducted in countries with tradition in this field and not only. The purpose of this paper is to present some relevant aspects of volunteers' motivations and the advantages of volunteering as they are described in the scholarly literature. It also includes a good practice example, along with the results of a quality study carried out among volunteer students of the Faculty of Social- Humanistic Sciences of The University of Oradea. The results of the study confirm and complete the information found in scholarly literature. The subjects of the study stated that altruism, self-satisfaction and the need for involvement, as well as professional development, the experience acquired, the results of their work/the progress of the beneficiaries, are only some of the internal and external motives behind the decision of getting involved. The theme of this paper focuses on the nature and on the issue of identity because starting with the immigration crisis the European identity was slowly affected; as we know in this moment the entire world faced new threats, the moment when terrorism became the main problem of the 21st century. On the other hand this paper brings into spotlight a few aspects regarding the exodus of the non-Europeans immigrants of Arab origin, both Muslims and non-Muslims, who come from countries of the Middle East or North Africa and highlights the absence of a unilateral approach and in accordance with the different viewpoints and, in subsidiary, with the policies on migration and additional influx of immigrants into the European Union. The purpose of this paper is to find out whether there is a relationship between time management and healthy eating. The objectives of the study involve exploring the associations between six variables of the healthy eating dimension and three variables of the time management dimension. The participants are 163 subjects aged between 18 and 62, both from urban areas (72.2%) and from rural areas (27.8%). The participants are females. To test the hypothesis, we developed and used two questionnaires that addressed issues related to healthy eating and time management. The results confirmed that there is an association between the two dimensions, the correlations between the variables being highly significant. The present paper represents a research on the importance of using mediated learning (concept introduced by Reuven Feuerstein in his research concerning the Mediated Learning Experience) in the primary school environment. The purpose of this research carried out on a group of 60 primary school pupils from Brasov, Romania, is to highlight the correlations between mediated learning and attention, language acquisition, reading, and problem solving of primary school pupils. The results show that attention, language acquisition, problem solving and reading skills are strongly boosted by the mediated learning experience that implies focus, verbal and motoric mediation and different levels of mediation needed in the learning process. In this short paper we intend to examine how the records of processing activities can facilitate the operator's obligation to demonstrate compliance with the principles relating to the processing of personal data and we will argue that the record of processing activities is an instrument that can support the analysis of the implications of any processing and the controller should keep extended records of processing activities in order to also demonstrate at least in part the compliance with the principles set out in article 5 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The paper presents a study carried out in a municipality in the Marche Region of Italy, aimed at investigating the representations of immigrants in the local press. An analysis of local newspaper articles concerning immigrants has been carried out, and in-depth interviews have also been undertaken with journalists from the newspapers selected. The results of the study have highlighted important elements that influence migrant representations and allow the identification of new communication paths between the subjects of the local community. Igboland is located in south-eastern Nigeria and the inhabitants are known for the love they have for children. These children depend on their parents, teachers and extended families for both their physical and psychological well-being. The interaction that the children have with their parents and others influences their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development. Some parents with the intention of teaching values, beliefs, attitudes end up abusing them because of the type of disciplinary methods that they apply. In Igboland, some parents and those who are in charge of children find it hard to detect and identify child abuse and its characteristics. Most of the children who are abused in Igboland display some of the characteristics that are discussed in this work. This paper will help parents and the society to watch for red flags. In the context of all the changes that we feel so acute, from societal level to the individual one, a fresh and updated conception of what education means today is required. Those who offer education (schools, teachers, and mentors) have to respond to the demands imposed by contemporary life, marked by increasing globalization and diversity, conflict and instability, etc. It is natural to believe and to promote the idea that postmodernization of the school (an idea that is not exactly new) will bring about those fundamental changes in the teachers' conceptions and, changes that are so expected and even urgent. This idea of post-modernization of the school will facilitate the resuscitation of education, considered so necessary in the conditions in which the confusion and lability of the system are "insight". Communication can no longer be defined today without reference to culture, as these both tailor human's existence. Spiritual and affective values are embedded in culture and inherent in all types of communication, while people's identity, emergent in discourse, is defined culturally and communicated in inordinate narratives. The first two sections of this paper describe some theoretical areas, covering the concept of community and an analysis of the reports between the religious and the territorial communities in the urban space. The third section reviews the results from a research study of the associations between religious affiliation and other community-related issues, like community attachment and the propensity towards participation in community activities (i.e. community involvement). The aim of the present paper is to analyse the outcomes of a project based on telecollaboration, as the basic teaching tool, belonging to a blended learning approach to teaching, in terms of student satisfaction against the degree of novelty that such a method entangles. The research is based on the opinions expressed by the direct participants in the exchange, students in the second year of study from the previous academic year, and represents part of a greater analysis considering that the project is still unfolding and that a new series of students, whose opinions are yet to be measured, have meanwhile participated in it. This paper deals with the theme of the Roma population's education, presenting the premise from which the European educational policies start, the specific problems to the Roma population's access to education and the solutions highlighted in the recent literature. In the latter part of the paper, there is presented a case study in Racoş commune, Braşov county, Romania, where a Roma community lives in conditions of extreme poverty. This paper is based on the observation that some certainties in care and rehabilitation of mentally ill people have not been and are not yet sufficiently guaranteed; furthermore discrimination and inequalities are generated by a certain kind of science and politics. So we conducted a study at a Diagnosis and Care Psychiatric Service (DCPS) located in the South of Italy. We have observed and stated that some inequalities in care are redressed when dramatic situations must be coped with, so that the more the situation is dramatic, the more inequalities will be prevented. At the same time we have observed that in relation to some phenomena and etiologies, unlike others, inequalities in treatment do persist. Therefore we have worked out and developed a possible model to redress the imbalance, by drastically redesigning the agreements among public, private, para-private and social private services by means of innovative systems targeted to users and their families, rather than to facilities. The Al-Ghab region in Syria is considered the typical resource rich poor area in a developing country. The possibility of activating economic growth goes through diversification in output, in order to stimulate the value added generation, and reduction of social and economic disparities between female and male labour employment. In this way also the problem of food insecurity is effectively addressed given its strong connection with the poverty level of households. The most suitable tool of analysis for addressing this complex target is provided by an extended multi-sector model developed on the basis of the SAM for the area of interest. In this paper, we develop a SAM for the Al-Ghab region and quantify the effects of selected policy scenarios in terms of economic diversification, female labour efficiency and food nutrition security for the Al-Ghab region. Domestic violence is a phenomenon under expansion and affects women all over the world, irrespective of culture, race, status and education. The aim of this paper is to bring an in-depth understanding of the experiences of women who had been within the cycle of domestic violence for some years, in order to help professionals working in the field develop an increased empathy and knowingness about their situation. The study is of qualitative nature using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) on a sample of 10 abused women who were interviewed. This paper reports on one theme, `The carousel of violence` which is described by its sub-themes: "I before, I now", "...waiting for that change he was talking about", "living with fear" and "dependency". The article aims to illustrate the attempts and the obstacles to reform the EU. Starting with an analysis of the increasing urge of renewing the EU legal structure, this article will highlight the rising interest within the European institutions to involve the citizens and the civil society in the process of renew through a new original tool; in a second step, it will briefly present the architecture of the CoFoE and its hybrid format which combines institutional negotiations and citizen participation. The present research has as a main aim the identification of certain necessary conditions for the students to be interested in learning and obtaining good results in either Mathematics Teaching Methodology or English Language Teaching Methodology, with focus on nominating the pedagogical factors involved in the assessment process of the students in these two subjects. The research was conducted on 80 students, aged 20-21 years, in their 2nd year of studies at "Transilvania" University of Brasov, enrolled in the Teaching Methodology class. The assessment process with the courses consisted of several methods and techniques of evaluation: written, oral, portfolio, paper submission, role play, self-evaluation, or using interactive group methods. The conclusions drawn, after analysing the questionnaires, the school documents, as well as the answers provided by the students on the occasion of the interview we had with them show that both their interest for the subjects and their learning performances rose in direct proportion to the appropriate and varied systematic assessment applied to each learning unit. The theme of the paper is focused upon the problem of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the implication of the Quartet for the Middle East, this year the organisation is celebrating a decade of activity. The Quartet plays a significant role in the context of the Middle East Peace Process (MEPP) as a political group with four important members (the UN, the Russian Federation, the USA and the European Union). In this short paper we intend to examine the processing of personal data by the Romanian public administration authorities from the perspective of its lawfulness under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will argue that the processing of personal data in violation of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 provisions for the purpose of issuing administrative acts by public authorities can affect not only the lawfulness of the latter, but such infringements lead also to the erosion of the concept of good administration, one of the key factors being that the Romanian Law 190/2018 on implementing measures for GDPR doesn't allow the possibility of imposing a contravention fine on public authorities when finding a GDPR infringement. The life annuity contract is the bilateral legal act by which a party, called the debtor is obliged to perform recurring acts to the benefit of the other party or a third party called a creditor, performances which consist of payment of a certain amount of money for the rest of the creditor's life. The current paper discusses aspects regarding the life annuity contract in regard to its validity conditions and formal conditions. The thematic of the paper is based on presenting and analysing the situation related to migrant children and unaccompanied minors in the EU. In 2017 the Council of Europe published the Action Plan on protecting refugee and migrant children, which was adopted and is focuses on ensuring access to rights and child-friendly procedures, providing effective protection, and enhancing the integration of children who would remain in Europe. Despite the considerable improvements to the EU asylum acquis, much more remains to be done to guarantee the well-being of unaccompanied minors and prevent further migrant children from going missing and to address the gaps in legislation. The paper reviews a series of results from several territorial attachment and pride surveys. Territorial pride is seen as a direct expression of territorial attachment. The core of the data was collected in two surveys administered in the city of Alba Iulia, Romania in 2012 and 2016. Some common conclusions have been stated at the end of the study. They refer to several predictors of territorial attachment like gender, level of education etc., as well as to the connection between attachment and the critical spirit of the inhabitants. This paper presents an intellectual exercise of approaching a virtual space as if it were 'real'. I approach the 'Void', one of the spaces emphasized in the action-adventure stealth video game Dishonored: Death of the Outsider from the standpoint of Cultural Anthropology. My purpose is to describe the 'Void' and establish whether it can be considered a 'heterotopia par excellence', in Foucault's terms (Foucault, 2008, p. 22). I argue that the 'Void' connects and inverts multiple places and meanings in a similar manner to the ship from Foucault's 'heterotopology'. The paper aims at outlining the basic international trends in designing the school curriculum for pupils with disabilities and/or special educational needs, in comparison with the existing situation in Romania, in the context of inclusive education. The main question - categorical or individual planning of the curriculum (mainly understood here as a formal curriculum) - is answered after analysis from international and Romanian sources, in three languages. Individual educational planning (programming) seems to be very much recommended and used, particularly in USA and Europe, in contrast with the Romanian legislation and practice which are favoring the categorical approach - based on the type and degree of the disability. More research and evaluation is necessary in order to document the changes needed - both at the general schools and special schools level - towards a more individualized (personalized) approach in designing the curriculum content for such pupils. Community-based tourism has been promoted as a means of development whereby the social, environmental and economic needs of local communities are met through the offering of a tourism product. Local culture may be a community's most valuable asset for tourism if planned and managed properly. Its intangible cultural heritage may provide a community with a competitive advantage and uniqueness, one that differentiates it from all other communities. However, with increasing commodification of tourism, many smaller rural communities face several challenges in developing community-based tourism. The present paper explores the concept of community-based tourism, as a basis for the valorization of intangible cultural heritage, with a special focus on a regional tourist destination in Romania. Aiming to identify tourists' experience, a research was conducted among Japanese visitors who discovered the intangible cultural heritage of the studied area during an academic summer camp. The paper presents the results of a qualitative study on the current situation of the Social Assistance system as it is seen by interviewed Bihor county social workers. The problems mentioned include a shortage of social workers in the system, lack of coherence in legislation, low level of social services coverage, especially in rural areas, clients' dependency on the system. In order to improve the situation, the people included in the study mentioned the following solutions: identifying the true needs of the vulnerable groups, developing prevention in social work, clients' true involvement in the assistance process, promoting clients' labour market and societal integration. This paper analyses the issue of socio-professional integration of hearing-impaired persons. The research methods used were the questionnaire survey and the interview-based survey. The group of subjects consists of 49 people - 34 adults with hearing difficulties, 4 teachers in special education, 10 employers from the private sector, and 1 sign language interpreter from the United States. The findings of the research prove the limited access of the hearing-impaired people to the labor market. The purpose of this paper is to find out if there is a relationship between quality of life and depression in elderly persons. This research also includes variables such as spirituality and the purpose of life. The objectives of the study involve exploring the associations between depression, spirituality, the purpose of life and the quality of life at an advanced age. Participants are 28 subjects, aged (65 to 97 with a mean age of 85.6 years) all residents of an elder people establishment. Participants are predominantly female. To test the hypotheses, we used 4 questionnaires, namely: Geriatric depression scale (Yesavage, et al, 1983), Quality of life (Flangan, 1970), The purpose of life test (Frankl, 1959) and a test that merge two questionnaires (Personal Value Scale, Scott, 1965 and Spirituality Index of Well-Being, Daaleman, & Frey, 2004). The results showed statistically significant data confirmed by the literature as well, with depression being negative correlated with quality of life, spirituality and purpose of life, while quality of life is positive correlated with spirituality and purpose in life. The paper focuses on designing and implementing an individual resource-based intervention on education specialists in Romania, based on Hochshild's emotional labour model (Hochschild, 1983) and Gross' process model of regulating emotions (Gross, 1999). The main objective was that of training individual emotion management skills to reduce emotional effort and turnover intentions and to increase job satisfaction of employees. Taking into account the increased need to understand human behaviour across different cultural contexts there is a greater need than before to translate scales for use in large scale studies. Valid comparisons across cultures require that the translation process be accurate and that the scales being used measure the same psychological constructs across groups (i.e. measurement invariance). The current paper sets out to highlight the state- of-the-art procedures for translating scales and evaluating their invariance across cultural context. We first highlight the different ways in which item translation can go wrong and then discuss procedures for carrying out the translation process. Second, we discuss the construct of equivalence and then using data from more than 430 participants in 3 countries (Romania, United Kingdom and South Africa) we illustrate how one can evaluate measurement equivalence within a confirmatory factor analysis model. The network enterprises have appeared after the industrial revolution, and they have been studied indeed as a revolution in doing business. With the rise of the new informational platforms, a new type of network enterprise has appeared: a more collaborative, efficient and fast moving one; and thus, network society was born. Since then, there have been recorded changes in the human society, from the human behaviour with regards to technology, to the business models, with regards to efficiency. This paper aims to reflect a model of the new network society, from a collaboration and communication point of view, as well as to emphasise the importance of adapting to the new network society requirements. After an overview of the conceptual terminology and the theoretical approach of both the network society and the network enterprise, the paper identifies five dimensions of the network enterprise that will be used to describe the enterprise of the present as it is now, as well as to suggesting improvements for the one of the future. The paper presents directions to investigate distributive justice preferences in Romania, at national and regional level. Based on previous findings, it was hypothesized that belonging to one of the six major cultural-historical Romanian regions (Moldavia, Transylvania, Wallachia, Banat, Dobruja, Oltenia) may affect the preference for a fairness principle. The expectation is that people from Western Romania will prefer to a greater extent an equity-based allocation model, while people from Southern and Eastern parts of the country will prefer a distribution pattern with equality as a stronger predictor. This article aims to treat a very current issue, which is the respect for the human being and its inherent rights, in light of the recent legislation, namely the New Civil Code. The first part of the paper deals with the rights to life, health and dignity of the individual. The paper also describes the respect of private life and person's dignity, motivated by the fact that a separate section of the New Civil Code deals with the guarantee of the individual rights of privacy and dignity, namely the right to free speech, privacy, right to dignity and the right to self image. This paper is focused on Progressivism, as a reaction against the American traditional school in order to accomplish the purpose of connecting education to the realities imposed by the rapid changes of the American society. Progressivism was developed by John Dewey's pedagogic theory, being based on Pragmatism, a specific American philosophy, and on instrumentalism, one of its variants to which John Dewey conferred its climax. Experience represented the core concept of his philosophy. After revising this philosophical current, the paper will deal with John Dewey's pedagogic theory insisting on the method of solving problems as a general method of instruction. The importance of the two schools (Dalton Plan and Winnetka), both based on the progressive theory, will be highlighted. Progressivism opened a new era in American Education based on an active education, which took into account the students' individualities, stimulating teachers' creativity and focusing on a practice based education. This paper contains the main results of a qualitative research on Romanians national identity. The research proposes a new approach to the national identity based on two methodological elements: the patriotic songs as a stimulus for reflection on national identity and the presentation of data in the form of story-telling. The theoretical background integrates the social identity theory and the theory of social representations. The main conclusion of the research is that Romanians have nowadays a negative social identity in relation with their own country and the political class is seen as the main culprit for the country's bad situation. This paper is the second part of a dissertation, investigating the effect of coaching and online coaching on the result of the Flemish Medicine Admission Test (FMAT). The dissertation also examines the self-selection variables into coaching, as individual differences between coached and uncoached participants could potentially mask the coaching effect. Firstly, a brief introduction refreshes the main topics of the first paper. Then, the used method of research is discussed, with attention for the sample, the content of the admission test, the content of the questionnaire and the used variables. The next part displays the results of the statistical analyses. In the larger context of controversies on West-European - East- European countries differences, the present paper analyzes a more specific intercultural difference that may have its roots in the dominating values of a West-European society vs. an East-European one. We refer mainly at the differences between the Romanian and the Belgian culture regarding the way individuals from the two countries see work, the way they relate to work, their beliefs and stereotypes regarding work, and their work related behaviours. The paper tries to outline the fact that the cultural differences on work related stereotypes and behaviours surpass the existing similarities that are a result of the multiple influences both societies were subject of. Spatial abilities are divided into three categories: mental rotation, spatial relation and visualization. Several tests are cited in foreign literature that are frequently used in order to assess these abilities, but for Romanian specialists they are not on hand. The present paper is introducing new assessment tools for static spatial abilities that were successfully used along with already validated instruments. The problem that I treat in this paper is about the fact that people who are about to die in hospital are not usually informed about the fate awaiting them. In Italy, this attitude has remained intact over time despite the extraordinary changes which have taken place in clinical techniques and therapies, and despite the spread of hospices and palliative care wards. In this paper I shall describe the strategies adopted by Italian oncologists to prevent the dying from knowing their fate, the exceptions to this rule, and some of the structural and organizational factors which make changing the situation difficult. The paper briefly presents the concepts of creativity, intelligence and then presents "Hidden Figures" and "Creative Figures" Tests allowed to develop and evaluate people's intelligence and creativity by the following 12 psychocognitive- ideational factors.
