Abstract

Amorphous Fe(III)–Cr(III) mixed oxide nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of powdered SrTiO3 from an aqueous solution containing FeCl3 and K2CrO4, using a photochemical method and without the aid of a heat treatment. The mixed oxide was found to function as a cocatalyst for water oxidation.

Abstract

Fe, V, or Cu oxide was mixed in mesoporous Nb2O5, at a few atom percent, and their extremely high dispersion was confirmed by elemental analysis in about 5-nm spots using TEM–EDS. These mesoporous Nb2O5 showed characteristic selectivity for cyclohexene oxidation depending on the kind of the doped metal oxide.

Abstract

An ordered mesoporous Mg-Ta mixed oxide (123 m2·g-1 BET surface area, ca. 5.0 nm mesopore size and 3.6 nm wall thickness), which was stable after calcination at 500 °C for 30 h, showed stable and high photo-catalytic activity for overall water decomposition.
