Improving the efficiency of photosynthesis has important theoretical and practical value, and the application of pulsed light is an effective strategy for this goal. This study explored the theoretical temporal model of photosynthesis. In the experiment, the mean rate of oxygen evolution was measured under different photosynthetic photon flux densities and cycle durations with incremental pulse width modulation. The results revealed that the instantaneous oxygen evolution rate calculated using the differential method is an exponential curve, and a mathematical model was fitted. A photosynthetic capacitance model was proposed by referencing the capacitor charge circuit. The model suggests that a particular substance, which is stored in the photosynthetic capacitor, is consumed during the light period and accumulated during the dark period. This model could be used to explain the impact of the pulse parameters on the photosynthetic rate and provide new avenues for the study of photosynthesis under pulsed light to increase the photosynthetic rate. Oxygen evolution rate was measured using a new differential method. Temporal curve of photosynthetic rate was achieved by calculation. Abstract Aurones are a subclass of active flavonoids characterized with a scaffold of 2-benzylidene-3(2H)-benzofuranone. This type of chemicals are widely distributed in fruit, vegetable and flower, and contribute to human health. In this review, we summarize the natural aurones isolated from dietary plants. Their positive effects on immunomodulation, antioxidation, cancer prevention as well as maintaining the health status of cardiovascular, nervous system and liver organs are highlighted. The biosynthesis strategies of plant-derived aurones are elaborated to provide solutions for their limited natural abundance. Introduction: Although there is a need for rehabilitation treatment with the increase in the aging population, the shortage of skilled physicians frustrates this necessity. Robotic technology has been advocated as one of the most viable methods with the potential to replace humans in providing physical rehabilitation of patients with neurological impairment. However, because the pioneering robot devices suffer several reservations such as safety and comfort concerns in clinical practice, there is an urgent need to provide upgraded replacements. The rapid development of intelligent computing has attracted the attention of researchers concerning the utilization of computational intelligence algorithms for robots in rehabilitation. Areas covered: This article reviews the state of the art and advances of robotic neurorehabilitation with computational intelligence. We classified advances into two categories: mechanical structures and control methods. Prospective outlooks of rehabilitation robots also have been discussed. Expert opinion: The aggravation of global aging has promoted the application of robotic technology in neurorehabilitation. However, this approach is not mature enough to guarantee the safety of patients. Our critical review summarizes multiple computation algorithms which have been proved to be valuable for better robotic use in clinical settings and guide the possible future advances in this industry. Programmed death-1 (PD-1), a key immune checkpoint molecule, has been developed as an oncotherapy target for various carcinomas. However, treatment with anti-PD-1 elicited only a minimal effect in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Subsequent studies revealed the existence of a subset of PD-1+ T cells coexpressing CD38 and CD101, representing a fixed dysfunctional subpopulation that are not able to be rescued by anti-PD-1 immunotherapy. However, whether this subpopulation of PD-1 expressing CD8+ T cells could be useful in predicting PDAC stage or prognosing survival is unknown. In this study, we used flow cytometry and immunofluorescence assay to analyze the expression of CD38 and CD101 in 183 clinical PDAC samples, including 84 of peripheral blood and 99 of surgical tissues. High coexpression of CD38/CD101 on peripheral PD-1+CD8+ T cells or tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) was found to be most significantly correlated with Tumor/Node/Metastasis (T/N/M) classification and clinical stage, in contrast PD-1+CD8+ T cells could not correlate with T classification. CD38/CD101 co-repression on TILs also correlated with the poor survival in these PDAC patient samples. Our data suggest that CD38/CD101 might represent a more helpful biomarker than PD-1 alone for diagnosis and prognosis of PDAC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
