Tetrathiafulvalene tetracyanoquinodimethane (TTF-TCNQ) single crystal was prepared by a solution technique and studied by Raman spectra in the aspects of temperature dependence, polarised Raman spectra and the polarised Raman scattering anisotropy. Raman properties of TTF-TCNQ depend strongly on the temperature as the intensities of Raman scattering increase significantly with the decreasing of the temperature. Highly polarised Raman scattering anisotropy was found in the TTF-TCNQ single crystal, and this is caused by the dielectric properties of the crystal. The dielectric circumstance of the crystal leads to the reduction in the parallel field component inside the crystal; thus, the A(z) mode cannot be excited when the incident light polarised parallel to the b axis of the TTF-TCNQ single crystal.
