This article discusses a study that aimed to determine if the irregular astigmatism and optical aberrations in keratoconus (KC) patients could affect the accuracy of optical coherence tomography (OCT) evaluations in the macular region. The study compared macular thickness and volume in KC eyes with and without scleral contact lenses using OCT. The results showed no significant differences in macular thickness or volume with or without contact lenses. The authors concluded that the irregular astigmatism associated with KC does not affect macular thickness measurements obtained using OCT. [Extracted from the article]
