Working in one of the countries with highest number of COVID-19 cases, healthcare providers in Indonesia are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19. Therefore, risk mitigation strategy is crucial to protect the healthcare workers, especially in hospitals with limited resources such as Harapan Bersama General Hospital. This study aims to analyze risk mitigation strategy against SARS-CoV-2 infection for hospital workers in hospital with limited resource. Action Research study was performed through four stages. COVID-19 risk factor identification was carried out among healthcare workers who came in contact with COVID-19 patients between October 2020 and February 2021. Risk mitigation strategies were evaluated using Hospital Readiness Checklist for COVID-19. Implementation of risk mitigation strategies was done using hierarchy of control against infection transmission. Background: The quality of a hospital's service is strongly associated with its human resources performance. Employees’ performance will improve if they have a commitment to the organization employing them. A way to enhance this organizational commitment is by internal marketing. Internal marketing is a method to motivate, develop, and retain employees in order to achieve a quality of service and fulfill customers’ expectations. As the biggest private hospital in Kota Metro, Lampung, Indonesia Mardi Waluyo Hospital is facing the challenge of increasing patient numbers, and thus an increasing employees’ workload, especially for the doctors and nurses. Another factor is that there are only a few doctors and Mardi Waluyo Hospital has a regulation forbidding its employees from working in other places. In this situation, an organizational commitment from the doctors and nurses is required. Human resources management, through internal marketing, can be a solution to create capable, efficient, and committed employees, so that quality services can be delivered with affection, as stated in the mission blueprint of Mardi Waluyo Hospital. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to measure the relationship between internal marketing and the organizational commitment of the doctors and nurses working at Mardi Waluyo Hospital, and to explore the internal marketing efforts applied by Mardi Waluyo Hospital. Method: This is an analytical study using a mixed method. The quantitative subjects were 105 doctors and nurses at Mardi Waluyo Hospital, while the qualitative subjects were the hospital's managers, and representatives of Yayasan Kristen untuk Kesehatan Umum (YAKKUM). The measurement instruments were questionnaires and guided interviews. To describe the relationship between the dependent and independent variables, a linear regression analysis was performed. Result: The findings reveal that vision, reward, and development, bought together as one concept of internal marketing are significant (P < 0.05) and had a positive (R = 0.471) relationship with the organizational commitment of the doctors and nurses at Mardi Waluyo Hospital. The contribution by internal marketing to explaining the variance of the organizational commitment was 22.1%. Conclusion: Internal marketing is significant and has a positive relationship with the organizational commitment of the doctors and nurses employed by Mardi Waluyo Hospital. AbstractPhenomenon: Most medical schools in Indonesia have developed innovations to integrate public health content into the curricula. However, ensuring that all schools meet appropriate standards regarding the quality of subjects, content relevancy, and course delivery takes time and effort. Approach: This study employed a rapid assessment procedure to identify the current knowledge and competencies required to practice medicine effectively in underserved, border, and outer island areas of Indonesia. Ninety-three participants from six remote districts were involved in 12 focus group discussions. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis using the social determinants of health as a guiding framework. Findings: Under decentralized health system governance, the local socio-geographical context is critical to understanding the current public health landscape. Medical education with respect to public health must emphasize physicians’ ability to advocate and encourage the coordination of healthcare services in responding to disasters, as well as community-based surveillance and other relevant data for synergistic disease control. As part of a healthcare facility management team, prospective doctors should be able to apply systems thinking and provide critical input to improve service delivery at local health facilities. Also, recognizing underlying factors is essential to realizing effective interprofessional collaboration practices and aligning them with leadership skills. Insights: This study outlines recommendations for medical schools and relevant colleges in formulating compulsory block or integrated public health curricula. It also provides a public health learning topic that may aid medical schools in training their students to be competent for practice in underserved, border, and outer island areas.
