For coaches, the most common and easiest way to analyse the tennis serve is to refer to their own vision. However, human vision is insufficient to observe high-speed motion with great precision. With the improvement of technology, it is now possible to study the gesture from a quantitative point of view. The quantitative evaluation of the tennis serve focuses on the kinematics and kinetics of the player but also on the stroke result, which includes the ball speed and the ball trajectory. This review aims to highlight the current tools available for players, coaches, medical staffs and biomechanical researchers, to evaluate the tennis serve. This overview will provide information to the player’s entourage in order to choose the right tools depending on their specific purposes. The article establishes possible relationships between isokinetic muscle strength of the shoulder, physical features and field performances such as spike velocity in volleyball. The study of the tests for volleyball players is described. It was found that spike velocity is correlated with the strength performance of the dominant shoulder in all concentric mode conditions. The results could provide useful information for training management.

The article assesses the effectiveness of a rehabilitation model based on eccentric isokinetic training in the treatment of chronic lateral epicondylitis. Lateral epicondylitis represents a common overuse disorder, caused by repetitive gestures through specific sports activity, industrial work or hobby activities. The method involving six patients with unilateral chronic lateral epicondylitis is described. The incomplete effectiveness of a classical treatment failing to remove pain or to markedly alleviate symptoms upon return to the offending activities in two-thirds of cases is confirmed by the results.
