Production companies are facing increasing production complexity and demographic change. Therefore, with its decreasing physiological and mental performance prerequisites, the aging workforce is often confronted with overload at the workplace leading to fatigue and work errors in the short term and increasing sick days in the long term. Integrating physiological and mental aspects into existing employee scheduling is one way to maintain employees' health and performance. Incorporating these aspects is often very complex due to the need for multiple disciplines and the lack of supporting methods and tools. Therefore, this paper provides a practical-oriented overview for including physiological and mental aspects in existing employee scheduling. The intercorrelation between workload, individual performance prerequisites and strain, their measurement methods, and standardised alternatives are explained to support industrial practitioners in production management, like planners. A four-step method for integrating physiological and mental aspects in employee scheduling is presented. With the help of this method, the interaction between the ergonomics/human factors departments and production management can be improved, resulting in a more human-oriented employee scheduling. Under the carbon trading mechanism, carbon asset has become an important resource and new production factor for enterprises, and are one of the key factors for production operations. As an emerging mortgage-loan model, carbon asset pledge financing (CAPF) can not only revitalize the carbon assets, but also address insufficient capital for enterprises. For carbon emission-dependent engineering machinery enterprises, this paper examines the impacts of CAPF on the performances of an emission-dependent and capital-constrained remanufacturer. Based on the benchmark without financing, the pure carbon asset pledge financing (PCAPF) strategy and the hybrid carbon asset pledge financing (HCAPF) strategy, are explored. The results show that: (i) Whether the remanufacturer chooses CAPF depends on initial capital, only when its initial capital is below a threshold, it can benefit from the CAPF loan. (ii) The choice of PCAPF and HCAPF for a remanufacturer depends on the quantity of carbon assets, compared with no capital constraint, the PCAPF and HCAPF are all conducive to increasing the quantity of remanufactured products and reducing carbon emissions. (iii) The HCAPF always has a higher contribution rate to the remanufactured quantity and consumer surplus than PCAPF, while the former strategy contributes less than the latter in terms of reducing carbon emission and gaining profit. Efflux pump inhibitors are a potential therapeutic strategy for managing antimicrobial resistance and biofilm formation. This article evaluated the effect of carbonyl cyanide m-chlorophenyl hydrazone (CCCP) on the biofilm growth dynamics and the production of virulence factors by Burkholderia pseudomallei. The effects of CCCP on planktonic, growing, and mature biofilm, interaction with antibacterial drugs, and protease and siderophore production were assessed. CCCP MICs ranged between 128 and 256 µM. The CCCP (128 µM) had a synergic effect with all the antibiotics tested against biofilms. Additionally, CCCP reduced (p <.05) the biomass of biofilm growth and mature biofilms at 128 and 512 µM, respectively. CCCP also decreased (p <.05) protease production by growing (128 µM) and induced (p <.05) siderophore release by planktonic cells (128 µM) growing biofilms (12.8 and 128 µM) and mature biofilms (512 µM). This paper contributes to the advancement of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling in addressing the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus. As such, it introduces water resources as a production factor for both the energy sector and irrigated agriculture, as well as their competition for the endowment, aiming to explicitly represent additional components of the WEF with respect to a standard CGE in the literature. Thus, it develops different modelling structures by computing impacts on regional GDP, sectorial prices, and production outputs in response to hypothetical water scarcity scenarios. This analysis allows for the determination of the role of data and modelling assumptions, such as production function, water substitutability with other endowments, water mobility across sectors, and sectorial water intensity, in influencing the results. Finally, the paper develops a dynamic scenario analysis, showing that an enhanced representation of the Nexus can significantly affect the macroeconomic dynamics of the simulations and their regional implications. In this study, the wild-type Bacillus cereus ATA179 was mutagenized by random UV mutagenesis to increase lipase production. The mutant with maximum lipolytic activity was named Bacillus cereus EV4. The mutant strain (10.6 U/mL at 24 h) produced 60% more enzyme than the wild strain (6.6 U/mL at 48 h). Nutritional factors on lipase production were investigated. Sucrose was the best carbon source, (NH4)2HPO4 was the best nitrogen source and CuSO4 was the best metal ion source. Mutant EV4 showed a 32% increase in lipase production in the modified medium. The optimum temperature and pH were found to be 60 °C and 7.0, respectively. CuSO4, CaCl2, LiSO4, KCl, BaCl2, and Tween 20 had an activating effect on the enzyme. Vmax and Km values were found to be 17.36 U/mL and 0.036 mM, respectively. The molecular weight was determined as 28.2 kDa. The activity of lipase was found to be stable up to 60 days at 20 °C, 75 days at 4 °C, and 90 days at −20 °C. The potential of lipase in the detergent industry was investigated. Shrimp is the largest aquaculture species in Bangladesh by value, and it is also the largest species in terms of export value. However, due to the impacts of climate change, the sustainability of shrimp production is jeopardized. In this study, we use longitudinal data from 1990 to 2020 to investigate the impact of climatic factors such as annual temperature, precipitation, CO2 emissions, and salinity, as well as non-climatic factors such as gross cultivated areas, availability of credit, labor availability, and the export price of shrimp. A recently developed dynamic autoregressive distributed lag (DARDL) and augmented ARDL model are used for the methodological approach. The results show that temperature, precipitation, and CO2 emissions all have a detrimental effect, whereas soil salinity has a significant favorable influence on shrimp production in the long run. Cultivated lands availability of credit, and the export price of shrimp, on the other hand, all have a favorable and significant impact on shrimp production in both the long and short term. Root cause analysis (RCA) plays an essential role in quality problem solving (QPS). Due to the difficulty of obtaining causal knowledge of quality problems, companies often rely on expert experience and conventional RCA tools when conducting RCA. Rich QPS data have remained mostly untapped but provide the potential for causal knowledge mining, while the semistructured nature of these data poses enormous challenges to this task. Thus, we propose a data-driven framework to mine large-scale causalities between quality problems and production factors from QPS data and exploit a causal knowledge graph for quality problems (QPCKG) to express these causalities. We first classify QPS data to identify the data containing causality. The causal linguistic patterns are then employed to extract cause slots and effect slots from these data. Subsequently, we apply the BiLSTM-CRF to extract the core content of problems. A vertex fusion method is last proposed to integrate discrete causalities into QPCKG. The approach is validated in a real-world application at a leading automotive company. Three potential applications of the QPCKG are demonstrated for quality diagnosis and prediction. Agar oligosaccharides are thought to be valuable biomolecules with high bioactivity potential, along with a wide range of applications and advantages. The current study aimed to optimize the culture parameters required to produce agarase enzyme and agar oligosaccharides from industrial waste agar. Microbacterium spp. strain SS5 was isolated from a non-marine source and could synthesize oligo derivatives for use in a variety of industries ranging from food to pharmaceuticals. In addition, the strain and culture conditions were optimized to maximize extracellular agarase production. The bacterium grew best at pH 5.0 − 9.0, with an optimal pH of 7.5 − 8.0; temperatures ranging from 25 to 45 °C, with an optimal of 35 °C; and carbon and nitrogen concentrations of 0.5% each. Plackett-Burman experimental design and response surface methods were used to optimize various process parameters for agarase production by Microbacterium spp. strain SS5. Using the Plackett-Burman experimental design, eleven process factors were screened, and agar, beef extract, CaCl2, and beginning pH were found as the most significant independent variables affecting agarase production with confidence levels above 90%. To determine the optimal concentrations of the identified process factors on agarase production, the Box- Behnken design was used. Agarase production by Microbacterium spp. strain SS5 after optimization was 0.272 U/mL, which was determined to be greater than the result obtained from the basal medium (0.132 U/mL) before screening using Plackett-Burman and BBD with a fold increase of 2.06. The World Trade Model (WTM), which incorporates input - output data and minimizes global factor costs subject to satisfying demands while being constrained by each region's factor endowments, is one of models based on the principle of comparative advantage. These factor endowments are not necessarily fixed in each region as traditionally posed in most theories, but rather can or de facto be shared across regions. We highlight the importance of this feature for economic modeling, and then introduce an extension for the integration of topological rules into WTM to facilitate the sharing of factors with directionality (one-way or two-way) across regions. A series of numerical examples illustrating a range of sharing scenarios is demonstrated to facilitate an examination of this extension's features. This paper argues that the mainstream economics view of production based on the conventional factors of production is socially and empirically inaccurate, giving a distorted view of the nature of the production process and the agents responsible for it. Although the factors of production are essential, just as important are the various social, cultural, and political enabling conditions, or what is termed the ‘understructure’ of market production (the complex of infrastructures which underlie and enable market production). We gain an enriched understanding of what the economy truly is by studying the functioning of the understructure and the ancestral labour and care encompassed in it. If this revised view is correct, it has radical ethical implications. In particular, it implies that individuals do not morally deserve the bulk of the income (90% or more) that they receive in the market. Misallocation of factors of production has been recently viewed as a promising explanation accounting for the large difference in total factor productivity (TFP) across countries. This article differs from previous studies by concentrating on interregional capital misallocation and by focusing on the role of fiscal decentralization in shaping misallocation. Using a city level panel data set, we measure intra-provincial and inter-city capital misallocation in China over 2003–2018. The empirical results based on provincial level panel data suggest that fiscal decentralization can lower inter-city capital misallocation while revenue decentralization performs better than expenditure decentralization. We further find that this positive effect is more significant and much larger when it is the market rather than government intervention that is driving the flow of capital. Grasping the development trends and patterns of the digital economy and promoting the integrated development of the digital and the real economy is a strategic choice for China's construction of new competitive advantages. Based on case studies of the growth of e-commerce, this paper develops five microeconomic propositions about the following issues: the microeconomic features of data factor that differ from traditional production factors; optimal decision-making for digital enterprises; "data + platform" architecture, data transaction governance, and digital infrastructure supply. We apply these theoretical propositions to enterprise innovative practices in different application scenarios such as driverless vehicles and manufacturing digitalization. Microbial multidrug resistance is becoming a global menace to humanity, and finding alternative approaches to combat these "superbugs" is critical. Targeting quorum sensing (QS), which is essential for bacterial biofilm formation and virulence factors production, represents a viable alternative strategy for combating a variety of diseases. Accordingly, the current work reports potential QS inhibitors (QSIs), which could target the transcriptional regulator protein CviR in the model QS bacterium Chromobacterium violaceum. A set of novel hybrids 4(a–k) were synthesized using the virtual screening results of structurally based hybrids of the 2-indolinone-thiazolidine scaffold on the CviR active pocket residues. The ability of these hybrids to inhibit the QS system was tested against C. violaceum, and two molecules (4h and 4i) revealed promising antivirulence activity. Biofilm formation and motility were both impaired in the treated bacterial cells. Moreover, the molecular docking of these two compounds was comparable with that of chlorolactone (CL), a native inhibitor of the C. violaceum CviR. The global chemical descriptors were calculated for compounds 4h and 4i and found to be more reactive than the native inhibitor, CL. Furthermore, the in silico ADME prediction profiles of these two lead compounds, 4h and 4i, showed good ADME profiles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new alkaloid, identified as 1-benzyl-2-nitroso-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-6,7-diol, named oleraisoquinoline (1), and five organic acids and two esters, identified as 5-(hydroxymethyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid (2), 1H-pyrrole-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (3), (7E,10E)-octadeca-7,10-dienoic acid (4), (10E,13E)-octadeca-10,13-dienoic acid (5), (7E,10E)-hexadeca-7,10-dienoic acid (6), methyl tridecanoate (7) and methyl (9E,12E)-octadeca-9,12-dienoate (8), were isolated from Portulaca oleracea L., among which compounds 2 and 4‒7 were isolated for the first time. Moreover, the anti-inflammatory activities of compounds 1‒3 were studied, especially, compound 1 presented good inhibitory effects on the production of inflammatory factors IL-1β and TNF-α. Many companies, despite there being opportunities for automation in production and logistics (P&L) systems, still rely on human workers due to their cognitive and motor skills. Taking Human Factor (HF) aspects into consideration when making P&L system design and management decisions is therefore important, an ignorance of HF potentially resulting in operator fatigue, discomfort, subsequent injuries and negative consequences for operator performance and the P&L system. A review of the literature shows that the majority of studies that take HF into consideration focus either on designing the workplace or on operation planning activities. There is also still a gap in the literature. Little has been published on P&L systems that incorporate HF and that combine different levels of short-term operational policy decisions (e.g. job allocation) and long-term system characteristic decisions (e.g. layout design). Current state-of-the-art frameworks that support the design and management of P&L systems and that take HF into consideration rarely consider different decision levels. Modern society is increasingly attracted with safe, natural, and additive-free food products, that gives preference to bacteriocins produced by General Recognized as Safe bacteria as a food preservative. Bacteriocins have been reported to be effective in extending shelf life of diverse foods such as meats, dairy products, wine, juice, and fruits and vegetables, whereas commercialized bacteriocins remain only nisin, pediocin, and Micocin. It is important that commercialized preservatives undergo an easy-to-handle manufacturing while maintaining high efficacy. Limited application of bacteriocins is most often caused by the absence of legislatives for use, low production, high cost and complicated purification process, reduced efficiency in the complex food matrix and insufficiently defined mechanism of action. Accordingly, this review provides an overview of bacteriocins, in relation to production stimulation, general purification scheme, impact of food matrix on bacteriocin effectiveness, and collaborative technology to improve bacteriocin performances. It is worth to note that purification and performance improvement technology remain the two challenging tasks in promoting bacteriocins as a widely used bio-preservative. Furthermore, this review for the first time divides bacteriocin receptors into specific classes (class I, II, III) and nonspecific class, to provide a basis for an in-depth understanding of the mechanism of action. Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is a major constraint for tomato production in Benin. Through this research, the distribution and incidence of bacterial wilt and its dissemination factors in tomato fields were assessed. Identification of isolates were based on morphological characterization of colonies, hypersensitivity, and pathogenicity tests. Dissemination factors were analysed through a binomial logit model. Bacterial wilt was widespread in all Benin's eight Agro-Ecological Zones (AEZs), and mostly severe in AEZs dominated by ferralitic soils where its highest incidence was up to 100%. Other variables such as post-harvest crop residues plowed into soils, rotation practices, use of mineral fertilizer, watering practices, use of the same tools in many fields, positively influenced the probability of bacterial wilt infection in tomato fields. Dissemination of R. solanacearum is more favorited by women agricultural practices than men. Farmer's awareness on good agricultural practices could help to reduce the pressure of the disease. Several studies have considered factors influencing capital output differences among countries and reported that factors such as education of the workforce, capital allocation, taxes, and business profits partly explain capital-output differences. We disaggregate capital investment into six categories for nine major industrialized nations during the 1998 to 2016 period. The regression estimates of capital-output against several production factors show that capital-output ratios are a positive function of the education level of the workforce and R&D intensity, and a decreasing function of the tax burden on business profits. Among the countries studied, China, the UK, Italy, and India appear to be the most efficient in terms of capital-output ratios for the several capital investment categories examined. The post-colonial economy of African countries has continued to manifest all the characteristics of its colonial origins in terms of its structure, direction, and composition. Export of primary commodities continue to take precedence over exports of manufactured products. The African Continental Free Trade Area emerged after series of negotiations to address the problem of structural transformation through value added production, services and increased agglomeration in African economies. This paper examines the extent to which the AfCFTA can foster structural transformation and socio-economic development in Africa. The paper found that despite the challenges that may affect the implementation of the agreement, AfCFTA holds great potentials for the realisation of the social transformation in Africa through creation of regional value chains, unlocking the opportunities in free movement of factors of production and enhancing a stronger voice for Africa in the negotiation of trade and investment agreements with other regions of the world. This article takes a step in identifying a more accurate economic history of deindustrialization. Following the extension of the timeline of deindustrialization and its divorce from the 1970s, this article examines the reasons for production facility relocation our of Detroit, prior to the 1970s. Given that the process of deindustrialization occurred prior to 1970, the reasons must be reevaluated. To this end, this article examines one of the lesser investigated reasons that auto corporations moved their production facilities out of Detroit; organized labor. It shows that organized labor was one of the driving factors of production facility relocation. This article makes use of multiple collections housed in the Reuther Archives at Wayne State University in relation to organized labor, as well as union density data. The effects of workforce differences on manufacturing systems have attracted the attention of a wide range of researchers in recent years. The differences between workers in terms of skills, age, gender and anthropometric measures have a large impact on production system performance. In this study, the workforce differences factors in production system design and modelling were investigated, with the aim of understanding how the differences between workers could influence a production system and how they had been considered in previous studies. The papers selected from the Scopus database were categorised based on whether how human factors are incorporated into manufacturing system optimisation and design approaches is discussed therein or is not. To find relevant papers, two sets of keywords were defined: (1) keywords relating to the differences between workers and (2) keywords relating to the kind of problem under study. Though Japanese tea has been traditionally differentiated by, for example, production processes, varieties, and environmental and cultural factors of production areas, positive elements related to place or environment are increasingly highlighted to add value to tea practices. Here, agricultural practice peculiar to the area can provide foods more in a sustainable way. The practice can be registered through institutional measures. Regions of tea production are applying multiple instruments, such as geographical indications (GIs), trademarks, organic standards, and regional heritage registrations. Thus, this study examined the potential effects of these quality elements on the producers and production regions and discuss the quality is multi-layered over discourse and practice. For the analysis, this study employed convention theory originating from French economic sociology to understand producers and related actors deciding product quality. This study investigated four tea types, all observable cases of Japanese tea GIs. The effective registration of GI depends on diverse conventional elements such as inclusion and exclusion, duration of the registration process, and the agreeable product standards. The registration of GI tea can be combined with other quality or environment-related registration, such as organic standards, environmentally friendly or tradition-related labeling, such as that in Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS). In this paper, we perform a preliminary analysis of the technologies, firms and industries that may be affected by the possible futures of the metaverse, attempting to derive some hypotheses on the spatial effects of this process. We distinguish between two possible evolutive scenarios – the 'metaverse shaped by reality view' and the 'metaverse shaping reality view' – and factors affecting them, deriving implications for public policy planning. The first scenario presents relatively traditional core policy challenges: ensuring homogeneous availability of network infrastructures as well as the skills indispensable to catch the new technological opportunities at the local level, accompanying the reallocation of factors of production associated to disruption and addressing inequalities. Advanced business services (ABS) are seen as generators and disseminators of innovation among their client companies, and their use by client companies can improve efficiency and productivity. However, one question that has not been addressed is whether ABS provision can be an explanatory factor for the total productivity of the factors (TPF). This paper aims to determine whether the innovation generated and/or transmitted by ABS companies is reflected in the TPF growth in the manufacturing sector. For this purpose, a Cobb-Douglas function was estimated using panel data analysis on data of ten OECD countries in the period 1977-1996. ABS labour was considered the proxy variable for the provision of these types of services and treated as a separate factor in the production process. The quantitative study shows that the contribution of labour endowment in ABS to the efficiency and productivity of manufacturing industry is significant, that it generates spillovers and that it is an explanatory factor for the TPF. The traditional flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) considers machine flexibility but not worker flexibility. Given the influence and potential of human factors in improving production efficiency and decreasing the cost in practical production systems, we propose a mathematical model of an extended FJSP with worker flexibility (FJSPW). A hybrid artificial bee colony algorithm (HABCA) is presented to solve the proposed FJSPW. For the HABCA, effective encoding, decoding, crossover and mutation operators are designed, and a new effective local search method is developed to improve the speed and exploitation ability of the algorithm. The Taguchi method of Design of Experiments is used to obtain the best combination of key parameters of the HABCA. Extensive computational experiments carried out to compare the HABCA with some well-performing algorithms from the literature confirm that the proposed HABCA is more effective than these algorithms, especially on large-scale FJSPW instances. Cordyceps fumosorosea is an important species in the genus of Cordyceps, containing a variety of bioactive compounds, including fumosorinone (FU). This study was a ground-breaking assessment of FU levels in liquid and solid cultures. The present study focused on the impacts of solid-state fermentation (SSF) using solid substrates (wheat, oat, and rice), as well as the effects of fermentation parameters (pH, temperature, and incubation period), on the generation of FU. All the fermentation parameters had significant effects on the synthesis of FU. In a study of 25 °C, 5.5 pH, and 21 days of incubation period combinations calculated -to give maximal FU production, it was found that the optimal values were 25 °C, 5.5 pH, and 21 days, respectively. In a solid substrate medium culture, FU could be produced from SSF. At 30 days, a medium composed of rice yielded the most FU (798.50mg/L), followed by a medium composed of wheat and oats (640.50 and 450.50mg/L), respectively. An efficient method for increasing FU production on a large scale could be found in this approach. Appropriate treatment of Hemophilia B is vital for patients' quality of life. Historically, the treatment used was the administration of coagulation Factor IX derived from human plasma. Advancements in recombinant technologies allowed Factor IX to be produced recombinantly. Successful recombinant production has triggered a gradual shift from the plasma derived origins of Factor IX, as it provides extended half-life and expanded production capacity. However, the complex post-translational modifications of Factor IX have made recombinant production at scale difficult. This paper aims to offer a new reading of Karl Polanyi's political economy by reinterpreting and reconstructing his institutional analysis as a cultural political economy that critiques capitalism as a historically specific symbolic system. For this purpose, it will draw on his earlier concepts from the socialist calculation debate to reinterpret Polanyi's theory of fictitious commodification. In particular, it will examine how Polanyi conceptualized the symbolic structure of capitalism as an institutional articulation of particular economic facts, accounting concepts, and economic theory. Polanyi not only critiques the intrinsically cultural nature of foundational categories of the capitalist market economy such as profits, factors of production, and fictitious commodities but also shows how the gap between these categories and 'the reality of society' eventually brings about crises and crisis tendencies expressed in the 'double movement' and the 'self-protection of society'. In this sense, Polanyi is a critical cultural political economist with contemporary relevance for the analysis of capitalism as a historically specific symbolic system in which culture plays both constitutive and ideological roles. Lovastatin is a blood cholesterol-lowering agent and is produced as a secondary metabolite by Aspergillus terreus. Microbial production of this drug is carried out in solid-state or submerged culture, and due to difficulties of controlling the procedure parameters in solid-state method, the submerged method is conventional for industrial production. Although the submerged method is widely used, but this method damages the morphology of fungus due to shear stress caused by stirring. Since the morphology of fungus is a key factor in lovastatin production, using a bioreactor that causes the least damage to it, can improve the lovastatin production. In this paper, for the first time, it has been shown that the membrane gradostat bioreactor is suitable for lovastatin production, using A. terreus, due to providing suitable environmental conditions, therefore, it can be implemented as an alternative method for lovastatin production. Furthermore, it was found that implementing two-stage feeding, using different ratios of Carbon to Nitrogen in the culture medium, makes the lovastatin production to be 5 times more than one-stage feeding. Phenyllactic acid (PLA) is capable of inhibiting the growth of many microorganisms, showing a broad-spectrum antimicrobial property, which allows it to hold vast applications in the: food, feed, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, especially in the field of food safety. Recently, the production of PLA has garnered considerable attention due to the increasing awareness of food safety from the public. Accordingly, this review mainly updates the recent development for the production of PLA through microbial fermentation and whole-cell catalysis (expression single-, double-, and triple-enzyme) strategies. Firstly, the: physicochemical properties, existing sources, and measurement methods of PLA are systematically covered. Then, the inhibition spectrum of PLA is summarized, and synchronously, the antimicrobial and anti-biofilm mechanisms of PLA on commonly pathogenic microorganisms in foods are described in detail, thereby clarifying the reason for extending the shelf life of foods. Additionally, the factors affecting the production of PLA are summarized from the biosynthesis and catabolism pathway of PLA in microorganisms, as well as external environmental parameters insights. Finally, the downstream treatment process and applications of PLA are discussed and outlined. In the future, clinical data should be supplemented with the metabolic kinetics of PLA in humans and to evaluate animal toxicology, to enable regulatory use of PLA as a food additive. A food-grade host, such as Bacillus subtilis and Lactococcus lactis, should also be developed as a cell vector expressing enzymes for PLA production from a food safety perspective. Excessive sebum production is a factor in acne development. Tazarotene 0.045% lotion has demonstrated reductions in acne lesions and acne-induced sequelae. Evaluate efficacy, changes in skin oiliness, and safety with tazarotene 0.045% lotion in participants with moderate-to-severe acne and oily skin. In two phase 3, double-blind, 12-week studies (NCT03168321; NCT03168334), participants aged ≥ 9 years with moderate-to-severe acne were randomized 1:1 to once-daily tazarotene 0.045% lotion or vehicle lotion (N = 1614). This pooled, post hoc analysis included only participants self-categorized with oily skin at baseline on the Acne-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire item 19 (scores: 0 [extremely oily] to 6 [not at all oily]). Inflammatory/noninflammatory lesion counts, treatment success, skin oiliness, treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), and cutaneous safety/tolerability were evaluated. In all participants with oily skin (n = 793), tazarotene provided greater reductions in inflammatory/noninflammatory lesions (p < 0.001, both) and greater treatment success rates versus vehicle (p < 0.01) at week 12. Over two-thirds of polymeric lotion-treated participants had subjective skin oiliness reductions by week 12, with around a third reporting 'low/not' oily skin. Tazarotene TEAE rates were similar to the overall population. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common type of chronic inflammatory disease. Elucidating the mechanism of fibroblast-like synovial (FLS) as a pathologic factor in RA may address the urgent medical requirement for the treatment of RA. Isorhynchophylline (IRN) is a tetracyclic hydroxyindole alkaloid isolated from uncinaria, which has multiple biological activities and affects the progression of osteoarthritis. However, the role of IRN in rheumatoid arthritis remains unclear. Herein, our study aimed to elucidate the potential effect of IRN on RA and reveal its mechanism. Human FLS cell line MH7A cells were stimulated with TNF-α for 24 h to construct a cell model. CCK-8, Edu, wound healing, as well as transwell assays were conducted to detect the effects of IRN on cell proliferation and motility. ELISA and Immunoblot assays were further performed to detect the production of pro-inflammatory factors and the expression levels of MMPs. Immunoblot and Immunostaining assays were conducted to uncover the mechanism. ELISA, H&E staining, and Immunoblot assays were used to confirm the effects of IRN on RA in a CIA rat model. We revealed that IRN restrained TNF-α-stimulated MH7A cell proliferation and motility. In addition, IRN blocked the production of pro-inflammatory factors and MMPs in TNF-α-stimulated-MH7A cells. We further found that IRN restrained FOXC1/β-catenin axis, and improved MH7A cell proliferation as well as migration via the FOXC1/β-catenin axis. IRN restores CIA by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines in synovial tissues. In summary, IRN attenuates proliferation and migration of FLS in RA via the FOXC1 mediated β-catenin axis. Balanced and coordinated allocation of production factors is crucial for promoting the apple industry. We constructed a cost-ecological 21-indicator system for apple production in China based on labour cost, opportunity cost, fertilizer machinery input, natural resource, meteorological factor, ecological pressure and topography. The Hurst Index was used to analyse spatial changes in apple production in 617 counties of six provinces from 1999 to 2019. Grey correlation and TOPSIS models were adopted for optimal region selection and efficiency improvement. The areas supporting significant and sustained growth in apple production were concentrated in the eastern edge of Gansu, the northern, central and southern parts of Shaanxi, the western and central parts of in Henan, the northern, central and southern parts of Shanxi, the northern, central and southern parts of Hebei and the western, central and eastern parts of Shandong, covering 197 counties. Fertilizer machinery input was the key factor to improving apple production efficiency in Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi and Henan. The optimal regions were distributed in northern and southern Hebei, eastern and western Shandong, central and southern Shanxi, western Henan, central and northern Shaanxi and northeastern and southern Gansu. Compared with Shandong, the optimal factor allocation in Shaanxi is particularly favourable for optimal region selection, and the development momentum is remarkable despite a small county scale. Aims: The aim of this research was to isolate oral bacteria that are dependent for growth on adjacent bacteria producing a required growth factor and to identify the chemical structure of the growth factor. Methods: Porphyromonas pasteri strain KLE1280, could be cultivated with Staphylococcus hominis and Escherichia coli as helper strains. A deletion mutant library of E. coli was screened to determine genes involved in production of the growth factor. Compounds produced by the growth factor’s pathway were screened to see if they would stimulate growth of strain P. pasteri KLE1280. The genomes of species related to P. pasteri KLE1280 were screened for presence of the factor’s synthetic pathway. Results: Analysis of the E. coli deletion mutant library and growth studies identified 1,2- dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (DHNA) and menaquinone-4 (MK4) as the growth factors. Strain P. pasteri KLE1280 was shown to lack five genes in the menaquinone synthesis pathway but to possess the two genes necessary to convert DHNA to menaquinone. Genome analysis found that 8 species in genera Porphyromonas and Tannerella lack five genes in the menaquinone synthesis pathway. Energy expenditure is a limiting factor for the production of cellulose micro/nanofibrils in mechanical processing. This study evaluated the effect of novel alkaline pretreatments on unbleached Eucalyptus sp. pulps (hardwood) and Pinus sp. cellulose (softwood) to facilitate the production of cellulose nanofibrils by mechanical fibrillation and reduce the energy consumed by the mill. Pretreatments with NaOH in concentrations of 5% for 2 h and 10% for 1 h and 2 h and a hybrid pretreatment with 5%/16% NaOH/H2O2 for 2 h were evaluated. The 10% pre-treatment was done at 1 h and 2 h to evaluate the effect of the less aggressive treatment (1 h). The morphology, chemical composition, turbidity of the fibers/suspensions, mechanical properties, fibrillation quality index and energy expended during the fibrillation were evaluated for each pretreatment. The less aggressive pretreatments produced micro/nanofibrils with fewer passes of the pulp through the fibrillator, which effectively facilitated extraction with lower energy consumption. The hybrid pretreatment did not show satisfactory results in reducing energy consumption, and the quality of the nanofibrils produced by this pretreatment was inferior to the others. In this study, we investigated the effect of Solanum nigrum aerial parts (SNAP) on macrophage activation and macrophage autophagy in RAW264.7 cells. SNAP increased the production of immunostimulatory factors and phagocytosis in RAW264.7 cells. TLR4 inhibition blocked SNAP-mediated production of immunostimulatory factors. In addition, the JNK inhibition reduced the SNAP-mediated production of immunostimulatory factors, and the SNAP-mediated JNK activation was blocked by the TLR4 inhibition. SNAP activated macrophage autophagy. TLR4 inhibition blocked SNAP-mediated macrophage autophagy and inhibition of p38 and JNK attenuated SNAP-mediated macrophage autophagy. Under the COVID-19 pandemic, interest in immune enhancement and anti-obesity is increasing. Thus, in this study, we investigated whether Kadsura japonica fruits (KJF) exhibits immunostimulatory activity and anti-obesity activity. KJF increased the production of immunostimulatory factors and phagocytosis in RAW264.7 cells. Inhibition of TLR2 and TLR4 blocked KJF-mediated production of immunostimulatory factors in RAW264.7 cells. In addition, the inhibition of MAPK and PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway reduced KJF-mediated production of immunostimulatory factors, and the activation of MAPK and PI3 K/AKT signaling pathway by KJF suppressed the inhibition of TLR2/4. KJF attenuated the lipid accumulation and the protein expression such as CEBPα, PPARγ, perilipin-1, adiponectin, and FABP4 related to the lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells. In addition, KJF inhibited excessive proliferation of 3T3-L1 cells and protein expressions such as β-catenin and cyclin D1 related to cell growth. Several studies have analyzed perceptions of adults regarding human-elephant conflict, but only a few have considered children as stakeholders. This research note attempted to understand young stakeholder perspectives about elephants for the purpose of proposing appropriate and contextual tools of conservation education and favorable human-elephant interactions. The study employed a draw-and-write method with 47 teenaged children from villages near a migratory corridor in the Balasore district of Odisha state in India. Through content analysis of the artworks, several references to negative interactions between humans and elephants (e.g., elephants raiding crops, damaging houses, and breaking trees; elephants and humans inflicting injuries on each other), vulnerability indicators, and community responses were noticed. The gender of participants also emerged as a significant factor in the production of different perceptions. Elephant tuskers engaging in hostile activities and people chasing elephants were mostly depicted by boys, whereas girls illustrated people watching helplessly or guarding property. The effects of permeability, initial fluid pressure, effective stress, gas-oil ratio, pressure depletion rate, and oil viscosity on the primary production oil recovery were investigated in detail. The results show that the permeability of tight core is the most significant influence factor. When the permeability decreases from 3.0 × 10−3 µm2 to 0.0021 × 10−3 µm2, the oil and gas recoveries decrease from 45% and 90% to 10% and 20%. Furthermore, the initial fluid pressure also has great influence and the oil recovery linearly increases with the fluid pressure as well as the decrease of effective stress. When the initial fluid pressure increases from 6 MPa to 15 MPa, the oil and gas recoveries can be enhanced about 10% and 22%. Gas-oil ratio is another important parameter. When the gas-oil ratio is 26 m3⋅m−3, the oil recovery can reach approximately 30% compared to 2.7% at the gas-oil ratio of 0. The pressure depletion rate has a more obvious influence on the ultimate oil recovery for the cores with a low permeability, while with a low depletion rate after bubble point can enhance the oil recovery. The enterprise is a part of the institutional framework of capitalistic societies. It is a fictional agent created by accounting and sanctioned by law. It is based on capital and its purpose is to yield monetary profit. This article demonstrates that in capitalism, the entrepreneurial function is not fulfilled directly by pure entrepreneurs, but indirectly through enterprises. By situating the entrepreneurial function in the enterprise, this article fruitfully combines the gist of the theories of the pure entrepreneur with that of the institutionalist approach. The applicability of the main point of the article is demonstrated by reference to three approaches to the theory of the entrepreneur. It is the institutional framework of capitalistic societies that allows for the entrepreneurial function, regardless of whether the entrepreneur is defined as (1) the one who brings about equilibrium, (2) the one who destroys equilibrium and thus creates development and progress, or (3) the one who bears the uncertainty which prevails in disequilibrium. By factoring in the role of institutions, the article demonstrates that the theory of the entrepreneur does not have to be a mere dynamic add-on to otherwise static economics. The production and selection of driving factors are essential to building a strong Cellular Automata (CA) model of dynamic urban growth simulation. A critical issue that should be addressed is how the spatial representation and the generalization scale of driving factors affect the CA modeling and the simulation results. It is challenging to evaluate the effectiveness of the selected driving factors because they have no true values. To explore the impacts of the generalization scales, we produced nine sets of driving factors at nine scales to calibrate the CA models based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (CAPSO) and applied them to simulate urban growth of Suzhou during 2000–2020. Our results show that the driving factors at a smaller scale have much better performance in explaining urban growth simulations as inferred by the Explained Residual Deviance (ERD) of the Generalized Additive Models (GAMs). Specifically, the ERD declined from 51.9% to 45.9% as the factor scale became larger during 2000–2020, but there was a peak value (52.2%) at Scale-2. For all simulations during 2000–2020, the CAPSO models with larger-scale factors have slightly lower overall accuracy and Figure-of-Merit (FOM), which respectively decreased by 3.1% and 4.4% as compared to the CA models with scale-free factors. We concluded that the driving factors at a smaller scale (200 ~ 400 m for point-like facilities and 7 ~ 14 m for line-like facilities) can build more accurate CA models to simulate urban growth patterns, and the optimal scale for factors can be identified using the ERD. This study contributes to the methods of evaluating the effectiveness of driving factor production and reveals the impacts of spatial representation of factors on the CA modeling and simulation considering the factor generalization scales. This article explores the impact of the main occupational safety and health (OSH) factors in the overall OSH climate of production organizations in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, South Serbia, as an important segment of their strategic development. The article aims to validate and test the proposed conceptual model of OSH. Hence, the SmartPLS methodology was applied. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 21.0. The hypothesized model was developed and tested on a sample of 871 participants employed in production companies. The results indicate that the development of an OSH climate in production organizations primarily depends on the commitment of the management to the OSH system. The results obtained indicate that the methods used in this research can be successfully used in order to identify the OSH factors in the work process, and thus to manage the quality of the work environment. The need for quality research outputs is clearly undeniable in any context that values quality knowledge production. This study examined consistency among epistemologies, theoretical perspectives, methodologies, and methods in students' dissertations. It also aimed to assess the extent to which the dissertations employ a variety of research designs. The study used a sample of 154 students' dissertations, which were thoroughly analysed. In addition, five supervisors and five graduate students from one university in Tanzania were interviewed to supplement data from documents. With regard to consistency, overall, findings indicate that students' dissertations observed consistency in only two levels of methodology and methods, leaving epistemology and theoretical perspective unexploited. We also found an overreliance on qualitative (65.6 per cent) and mixed methods (24.7 per cent) research, with 59 per cent of dissertations using case study design. We argue that such an overreliance on one research design (case study) is a limiting factor for the production of a variety of forms of knowledge. Furthermore, it can also act as a barrier to enhancing research productivity as emphasised in policy documents. Chad faces critical issues of food security related to the impacts of population, precipitation and cropland on the production of staple crops. This article analyses the factors of food production in the perspective of an integrated, forward-looking food system. Regression polynomials, Gaussian models, and sum-of-sine model methods applied to the period 1980–2015 show that population explained 79%, 79%, and 67% of the variability in sorghum, maize, and rice production, respectively; precipitation accounted for 69%, 65%, and 54%; and cropland explained 77%, 84%, and 78% of the variability. Social media constitute a fertile though challenging arena for the use of ironic humor. A combination of facilitating and hindering factors turns the production and identification of irony in this sphere into a complex venture, positioning it as a powerful tool in consolidating group boundaries. The main aims of this paper are to identify the markers of ironic humor on social media and to explicate their workings within the dynamics of digital interactions. Existing literature about ironic markers addresses mostly face-to-face and mass-mediated interactions, while there is a gap in our understanding of the production and interpretation of irony in the unique communicative conditions of social media. An analysis of a bilingual corpus of successful and failed ironic utterances extracted from five social network sites yielded a novel typology of five ironic markers: platform, participants, style, intra-textual content, and contextual knowledge. These markers both resemble and deviate from features of irony in non-digital settings. Media affordances often allow access to necessary complementary information, yet such forensic activity is only accessible to active users, who recognize the need for further investigation of the meant. Hence, using certain types of ironic markers forms utterances that are decipherable to some audiences but opaque to others. In this sense, the marking of digital irony and its decoding both rely on group boundaries and play a central role in their delineation. Knowledge has become the most important factor of production with the emergence of the knowledge economy. We use the system GMM estimation method to analyze how cross-national knowledge transfer (CNKT) impacts the total factor productivity (TFP) of China's 31 provinces and evolution of China's ability to absorb foreign knowledge. We also examine the possible intermediary effects of foreign direct investment (FDI), outward FDI, import trade, export trade, and direct technology spillovers between CNKT and TFP. We find that: (1) CNKT improves China's TFP and positively impacts FDI, import trade, export trade, and direct technology spillover; It shows that CNKT not only helps to improve China's TFP, but also provides innovative knowledge reserve for the absorption of international technology spillovers. (2) The improvement in the domestic infrastructure construction level, R&D capacity, human capital, economic development and openness has obvious absorption effect on CNKT, which is conducive to the absorption and utilisation of international advanced knowledge. (3) FDI, import trade, and direct technology spillover play a partial mediating role between CNKT and TFP, and the intermediary effect of import trade technology spillover is the strongest. Academic literature and policy notes place great emphasis on the relationship between energy carriers and factors of production. We have evidence from a subsidized economy that provides nationwide energy subsidies; with inferences that partly contradict previous findings. We use a panel of Iranian plants from 2004 to 2013. In 2010, the country conducted an energy reform to increase energy productivity. We use translog functions with SUR and GMM estimators, with clustered and robust standard errors. As a result, the elasticity of energy carriers for labor wages is positive, showing that energy is a substitute for labor on average. The substitution pattern of labor is weakened in parallel with the country's 2010 reform, but not lost completely. Regarding capital, a worsening financial accessibility to the economy after UN sanctions hit the economy in 2012 seemed to have an adverse effect on capital and energy relations.
