Based on a questionnaire survey of senior secondary school students, this study examines the determinants of perceived crowding of juveniles in Hong Kong, a city that has accommodated generations of migrants from mainland China and elsewhere in the world and is renowned for its extreme densities. The analysis is threefold. First, it identifies factors directly affecting perceived crowding such as home density, housing tenure type, and environmental referent. The next stage, then, examines what factors determine home density. It is found that juveniles in both public- and private-sector-owned housing tend to have significantly more housing space than those residing in rented housing. Newcomers to the city enjoy less housing space compared to more established Hong Kong residents. The third stage analyzes the sorting of households into housing tenure types. New migrants are most likely to be private renters. Over time, the difference in home density and housing tenure types between students with locally born parents and those with mainland-born parents becomes smaller. The present work purports to draw the links between two strands of literature: the vast literature on homeownership access across ethnic/migratory groups, and the emerging literature on inter-generational differences in ownership and their implications for wealth inequalities. It examines the case of Hong Kong, where homes are unbelievably expensive irrespective of the large public housing sector, and where recent immigrants from mainland China constitute a quasi-ethnic group even though the great majority of the local populations are Chinese nationals. The study draws upon the micro-data files of the 1996, 2001, 2006, 2010 and 2016 population censuses, and situates the analysis on the changing housing market dynamics and immigration scenes since the eve of the 1997 handover. The findings reveal a significant drop in homeownership among younger generations in recent years, and the drop is more pronounced for recent migrants from the mainland. It is important to enhance penetration depth of nanomedicine and realise rapid drug release simultaneously at targeted tumour for improving anti-tumour efficiency of chemotherapeutic drugs. This project employed sodium alginate (Alg) as matrix material, to establish tumour-responsive nanogels with particle size conversion and drug controlled release functions. Specifically, tumour-targeting peptide CRGDK was conjugated with Alg first (CRGDK-Alg). Then, doxorubicin (DOX) was efficiently encapsulated in CRGDK-FeAlg nanogel during the cross-linking process (CRGDK-FeAlg/DOX). This system was closed during circulation. Once reaching tumour, the particle size of nanogels was reduced to ∼25 nm, which facilitated deep penetration of DOX in tumour tissues. After entering tumour cells, the size of nanogels was further reduced to ∼10 nm and DOX was released simultaneously. Meanwhile, FeAlg efficiently catalysed H2O2 to produce •OH by Fenton reaction, achieving local chemodynamic therapy without O2 mediation. Results showed CRGDK-FeAlg/DOX significantly inhibited tumour proliferation in vivo with V/V0 of 1.13 after treatment, significantly lower than that of control group with V/V0 of 4.79. Along with its rapid economic growth, economic inequality rises and intergenerational mobility declines in China. Meanwhile, significant growth in HEIs’ enrolment has contributed to major migration flows across the country. This research investigates the impact of family background on the migration location choice of educated young people from peripheral China, based on data from a life-course survey of recent graduates of tertiary education institutions originating from Chaohu, China. Logistic models are employed to analyse young people’s migration to receive higher education, whether inside or outside the home province, and the location trajectories afterwards. While the findings confirm the association between university and post-university location choice, substantial interaction effects are found between location choice and family background. Young people from different family backgrounds adopt different strategies of geographical mobility in their transition to adulthood. In particular, young people from privileged families are more likely to leave the home province for higher education and return after graduation, whereas those from underprivileged families are more likely to study within the home province and then move away.
