Cadastral maps constitute the geographical basis of resource administration in most developed countries, including those in Scandinavia, where they function as a framework for organizing the economic utility of land and associated decision-making processes. The authors investigate the history of Danish cadastral cartography with a focus on its representation of landscape. They explore representations of landscape in maps of a study area in Denmark, produced between 1807 and 1942, and analyse them in the context of the general history of Danish cadastral cartography. Their results show that an initial landscape-oriented perspective on property changed to a focus primarily on legal boundaries. The limitations of that particularistic mode of representation were recognized in 1929 and subsequently several unsuccessful attempts were made to reintroduce a holistic representation of landscape. The authors conclude that the history of cadastral map-making is reflected in current mapping practices, which are characterized by a perspective in which economic aspects of a landscape are seen as separate from its ecological, physical and visual characteristics. Thus, further investigations of this mismatch between the cartographic representation of cadastral structures and the landscape are important in relation to understanding and mitigating many of today's environmental problems in the landscape. Profound digitalization of public administration is gaining momentum and spatial planning is no exception. To increase the transparency of planning and its usefulness for public and private actors, planning authorities have integrated production and online distribution of digital plan data within existing planning practices and workflows. Many European countries have established public spatial planning databases. Denmark is one of the forerunners in that digitalization. Since 2006, all legal plans are registered in an open geodatabase including over 34,000 currently effective local development plans. Despite the obvious potential of such data to inform about planning practice and associated outcomes, research using these new data is rare, mainly focusing on technical or judicial aspects. Questions related to planning practice, efficiency, evaluation and design have hardly been looked into. In this paper, we provide a short overview of digital plan data in the Danish database as well as similar data in Nordic countries. We then discuss research perspectives regarding plan evaluation and planning practice and we argue that digital plans represent a new transdisciplinary type of intentionally explicit data source for analysis of land change processes. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) occurred sporadically in Norwegian hospitals in the 1960s and 1970s, but disappeared in the late 1970s for unknown reasons. Only 1 outbreak has subsequently been reported. We describe herein a second outbreak in a different hospital, this time featuring a more resistant strain. Staff and patients were screened immediately after detection of the first MRSA isolate. Colonized and infected patients were nursed using contact precautions, and the staff were not allowed to work until 3 nose samples were MRSA-negative. We treated colonized persons with topical administration of mupirocin to the nostrils and a chlorhexidine body wash. The outbreak affected 7 patients and 5 healthcare workers. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis proved all isolates to be of the same type, and the MRSA phage type was M3. There was no sign of transmission of MRSA after contact precautions were implemented. MRSA was eradicated in 4 of the patients and all 5 healthcare workers. One patient died and 1 was still colonized 3 y after onset of the outbreak. Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is a newly described human pathogen associated with respiratory disease. A real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction method was developed to detect this virus. This reports present the first 2 cases of hMPV disease diagnosed in Norway. Topics discussed include information on personnel changes in the Royal Danish Geographical Society (RDGS) in 2019; inspiration for innovative research in interdisciplinary topics in DJG issue; and decision of RDGS to only publish the journal online for the future in order to reduce costs and the environmental impact of printing.
