Although bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) have been reported to exhibit a protective effect on animal models of chronic kidney disease (CKD), the exact mechanisms involved require further investigation. This study aims to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms of BMMSCs in inhibiting ferroptosis and preventing an Adriamycin (ADR)-induced CKD injury. A rat model of long-term CKD induced through the injection of ADR administered twice weekly via the tail vein was used in this study. After BMMSCs were systemically administered through the renal artery, pathological staining, western blotting, ELISA, and transmission electron microscopy were used to analyze ferroptosis. Analyses of renal function and histopathological findings indicated that ADR-mediated renal dysfunction improved in response to the BMMSC treatment, which was also sufficient to mediate the partial reversal of renal injury and mitochondrial pathological changes. BMMSCs decreased the ferrous iron (Fe2+) and reactive oxygen species and elevated glutathione (GSH) and GSH peroxidase 4. Moreover, the BMMSC treatment activated the expression of ferroptosis-related regulator NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and inhibited Keap1 and p53 in CKD rat kidney tissues. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is a common tumor malignancy of the endocrine system worldwide. Recently, circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been reported to participate in diverse pathological processes, especially in tumorigenesis. However, the functional role and mechanism of circRNA pleckstrin and Sec7 domain containing 3 (circ-PSD3) in PTC are still unclear. In this study, qRT-PCR results showed that circ-PSD3 was significantly upregulated in PTC tissues and cell lines. Meanwhile, circ-PSD3 overexpression was positively associated with larger tumor size, TNM stage, and lymph node metastasis. Knockdown of circ-PSD3 suppressed the proliferation and invasion of PTC cells. Besides, circ-PSD3 interacted with miR-7-5p to reduce its expression, and methyltransferase like 7B (METTL7B) was verified as a target gene of miR-7-5p. Functionally, inhibition of circ-PSD3 impeded PTC cell proliferation and invasion via targeting miR-7-5p to downregulate METTL7B expression. Taken together, silencing of circ-PSD3 hampered the proliferation and invasion of PTC cells via upregulating the inhibitory effect of miR-7-5p on METTL7B expression. Mesozoic granitoid rocks in the eastern Qinling terrane along the southern margin of the North China Craton are significant for understanding geodynamics processes related to lithospheric delamination in the Late Mesozoic. In addition, these rocks have close genetic association with the largest Mo-(Au-Ag) polymetallic mineralization belt in China. In the present study, zircon U-Pb ages and elemental and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic geochemistry are reported for two representative granite plutons (Heyu and Lantian) exposed in the eastern Qinling terrane. Granitoid rocks from both plutons are metaluminous to weakly peraluminous and are classified as I-type granite with formation ages of 145 ~ 135 Ma and 150 Ma, respectively. These rocks are characterized by adakite-like affinity without significant Eu anomalies. Both plutons have relatively high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios ranging between 0.7063 and 0.7109 and variable εNd(t) values of – 29.2 to – 6.5. Their Pb isotopic compositions are comparable to those of old high-grade metamorphic basement rocks from the North China Craton but are different from those of country rocks from the Xiong'er and Taihua groups. These features indicate genesis via reworking of the lower crust beneath North China and partial involvement of juvenile crustal material to different extents. Occurrences of ca. 1000-Ma-old inherited zircon in the Lantian granites imply the contribution of the Qinling Group in North Qinling to the magma source(s). This magmatism occurred intensively in a transitional setting from compression to extension and was likely induced by lithosphere thinning and asthenosphere upwelling beneath eastern China during the Cretaceous. Considering the resistance of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) 131I therapy, this study was designed to find a solution at molecular respect. By probing into lncRNA-NEAT1/miR-101-3p/FN1 axis and PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, this study provided a potential target for PTC therapy. 131I-resistant cell lines were established by continuous treatment with median-lethal 131I. Bioinformatic analysis was applied to filtrate possible lncRNA/miRNA/mRNA and related signaling pathway. Luciferase reporter assay was employed in the verification of the targeting relationship between lncRNA and miRNA as well as miRNA and mRNA. MTT assay and flow cytometry assay were performed to observe the impact of NEAT1/miR-101-3p/FN1 on cell viability and apoptosis in radioactivity iodine (RAI)-resistant PTC cell lines, respectively. Western blot and qRT-PCR were conducted to measure the expression of proteins and mRNAs in RAI-resistant PTC tissues and cells. Meanwhile, endogenous PTC mice model were constructed, in order to verify the relation between NEAT1 and RAI-resistance in vivo. NEAT1 was over-expressed in RAI-resistant PTC tissues and cell lines and could resist RAI by accelerating proliferation accompanied by suppressing apoptosis. It indicated that overexpressed NEAT1 restrained the damage of RAI to tumor in both macroscopic and microcosmic. Besides, NEAT1/miR-101-3p exhibited a negative correlation by directly targeting each other. The expression of FN1, an overexpressed downstream protein in RAI-resistance PTC tissues, could be tuned down by miR-101-3p, while the decrease could be restored by NEAT1. In conclusion, both in vitro and in vivo, NEAT1 suppression could inhibit 131I resistance of PTC by upregulating miR-101-3p/FN1 expression and inactivated PI3K/AKT signaling pathway both in vitro and in vivo. Following the amalgamation of the Siberian and North China Cratons, NE China, as part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), underwent Late Mesozoic lithospheric extension that was associated with volcanic activity. The Songliao Basin is the most important rift structure formed during these processes and contains voluminous volcanic rocks interlayered with sedimentary infill. Mafic-to-intermediate lavas are associated with felsic ones. This study focusses on the geochemical compositions of the less-widespread Early Cretaceous mafic-to-intermediate lavas in the Songliao Basin and compares them with the more abundant felsic rocks. Two mafic-to-intermediate magma series, one with alkaline and the other with sub-alkaline affinity, were identified. High MgO and Cr contents, low Th/Nb and La/Nb ratios, and variable but depleted Nd isotope compositions indicate that both magma suites were most likely formed by the melting of enriched upper mantle sources. Sub-alkaline mafic-to-intermediate rocks and I-type rhyolites define a co-genetic magma series. This rock suite was produced by the melting of subduction-modified lithospheric mantle and subsequent magma evolution as well as crustal melting during lithospheric extension. Alkaline mafic-to-intermediate rocks and A-type rhyolites form another co-genetic magma suite that was produced under within-plate conditions from an OIB-type mantle source, supposed to be the heterogeneous shallow asthenosphere and/or the lower lithosphere. Decompression partial melting of this mantle source requires a relatively thin lithosphere. The development of alkaline mafic rocks and A-type rhyolites as typical bimodal volcanic assemblage reflects that lithospheric thinning below the Songliao Basin reached its maximum, whereas basin rifting terminated afterwards. Objective: To identify the significantly altered circRNAs and mRNAs in thyroid cancer, investigate their target miRNAs and determine their biological functions. Methods: The differentially expressed circRNAs, mRNAs and pathways in thyroid cancer were identified by microarray analysis and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). The correlative circRNAs and mRNAs were found out through Pearson correlative analysis. The common target miRNAs of circNEK6 and FZD8 related to thyroid cancer was screened out through Targetscan, miRanda and HMDD analysis. The mRNA and protein expressions in thyroid cancer tissues and cells were detected by qRT-PCR and western blot. CircRNA was confirmed by the RNase R digestion and nucleic acid electrophoresis. The target relationships were verified by the dual luciferase reporter assay. Cell viability, invasion and apoptosis were determined by MTT assay, Transwell assay and flow cytometry, respectively. Results: CircNEK6 and FZD8 were significantly up-regulated in thyroid cancer, with strong correlations. The Wnt signaling pathway was activated in thyroid cancer. MiR-370-3p was the common target miRNA of circNEK6 and FZD8, and it was down-regulated in thyroid cancer. Overexpression of circNEK6 and FZD8 could promote the growth and invasion of thyroid cancer cells, while up-regulation of miR-370-3p could suppress thyroid cancer progression and inhibit the Wnt signaling pathway. MiR-370-3p's effect on thyroid cancer cells could be rescued by circNEK6 or FZD8. Conclusion: CircNEK6 promoted the progression of thyroid cancer through up-regulating FZD8 and activating Wnt signaling pathway by targeting miR-370-3p. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this article is to examine the geochemistry and geochronology of the Cadomian Mishu granites from northwest Iran, in order to elucidate petrogenesis and their role in the evolution of the Cadomian crust of Iran. The Mishu granites mainly consist of two-mica granites associated with scarce outcrops of tonalite, amphibole granodiorite, and diorite. Leucogranitic dikes locally crosscut the Mishu granites. Two-mica granites show S-type characteristics whereas amphibole granodiorite, tonalities, and diorites have I-type signatures. The I-type granites show enrichment in large-ion lithophile elements (e.g. Rb, Ba and K) and depletion in high field strength elements (e.g. Nb, Ti and Ta). These characteristics show that these granites have been formed along an ancient, fossilized subduction zone. The S-type granites have high K, Rb, Cs (and other large ion lithophile elements) contents, resembling collision-related granites. U–Pb zircon dating of the Mishu rocks yielded238U/206Pb crystallization ages of ca. 550 Ma. Moreover, Rb–Sr errorchron shows an early Ediacaran age (547 ± 84 Ma) for the Mishu igneous rocks. The two-mica granites (S-type granites) show high87Sr/86Sr(i)ratios, ranging from 0.7068 to 0.7095. TheirɛNd values change between −4.2 and −4.6. Amphibole granitoids and diorites (I-type granites) are characterized by relatively low87Sr/86Sr(i)ratios (0.7048–0.7079) and higher values ofɛNd (−0.8 to −4.2). Leucogranitic dikes have quite juvenile signature, withɛNd values ranging from +1.1 to +1.4 and Nd model ages (TDM) from 1.1 to 1.2 Ga. The isotopic data suggests interaction of juvenile, mantle-derived melts with old continental crust to be the main factor for the generation of the Mishu granites. Interaction with older continental crust is also confirmed by the presence of abundant inherited zircon cores. The liquid-line of descend in the Harker diagrams suggests fractional crystallization was also a predominant mechanism during evolution of the Mishu I-type granites. The zircon U–Pb ages, whole rock trace elements, and Sr–Nd isotope data strongly indicate the similarities between the Mishu Cadomian granites with other late Neoproterozoic–early Cambrian (600–520 Ma) granites across Iran and the surrounding areas such as Turkey and Iberia. The generation of the Mishu I-type granites could be related to the subduction of the Proto-Tethyan Ocean during Cadomian orogeny, through interaction between juvenile melts and old (Mesoproterozoic or Archaean) continental crust. The relationship among magmatism, large-scale metallogenesis of Southeast China, and subduction of the Pacific plate has long been debated. The lower Yangtze River belt (LYRB) in the northeastern edge of Southeast China is characterized by intense late Mesozoic magmatism and associated polymetallic mineralization such as copper, gold, iron, tungsten, molybdenum, etc. The copper-related adakitic rocks (148–130 Ma) in this belt are the oldest episode of magmatism and intruded as small intermediate-acid intrusive bodies. The Huayuangong granitoids (HYG), located in the southern part of this belt, however, are copper-barren. Three granitoid samples from this pluton give zircon U–Pb ages of 126.4 ± 1.6 Ma, 125.9 ± 1.9 Ma, and 126.2 ± 1.2 Ma, respectively. The HYG has A-type affinity with metaluminous to weakly peraluminous, high FeOT/(FeOT+MgO) ratios, and high Zr+Nb+Ce+Yb contents. Meanwhile, 10 late Mesozoic mafic samples from the LYRB exhibit similar trace element characteristics to those of ‘continental arc andesite’ (CAA) and suggest an enriched lithospheric mantle source with depletion in high field strength elements (e.g. Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf, and Ti) and enrichment of large ion lithophile elements (e.g. Rb, Th, U, and Pb). Although the HYG exhibits similar Sr–Nd isotope composition with the mafic dikes, distinct whole-rock Pb isotope ratios imply that the granitoids and mafic magmas originated from heterogeneous mantle sources. Compared with coeval Baijuhuajian A-type rocks that are exposed along the Jiang–Shao fault of Southeast China, the HYG shows enriched Hf isotope ratios of zircon withεHf(t) values ranging from −4.8 to −11.1. In the Yb/TaversusY/Nb diagram, being different from the major asthenospheric mantle-origin Baijuhuajian pluton, a large range of and high Y/Nb ratios as well as high Zr contents of the HYG pluton suggest a magmatic source of mixing between the asthenospheric and enriched crustal component in the LYRB. Compared with early-stage copper-related adakitic rocks (148–130 Ma) with subduction-related affinities and high oxygen fugacity, the copper-barren HYG has with-plate A-type affinities and lower oxygen fugacity. Summarizing, the production of early-stage (i.e. subduction related) adakitic rocks followed by late-stage A-type granitoids in the LYRB is ascribed to the rollback of the Palaeo-Pacific plate beneath Southeast China and associated with asthenospheric upwelling and lithospheric thinning during the late Mesozoic era. The Hai Van granitoid complex constitutes an important part of the Indosinian batholith of the northern Kontum massif in central Vietnam. The Kontum massif is a key region for understanding the palaeo-Tethyan accretionary history and the crustal evolution of the Indochina terrane. In this study, zircon U–Pb ages and geochemical data on the Hai Van complex are reported to shed more light on these geological processes. Zircon U–Pb isotopic analyses of six representative samples by the LA-ICP-MS technique show that granitoids from this complex crystallized between 242 and 224 Ma, indicating a prolonged period of magmatism in a late orogenic stage. Rocks from the Hai Van complex have S-type geochemical characteristics with high SiO2, Na2O + K2O, and Zr contents as well as typical S-type minerals such as cordierite and muscovite. Trace elements of the samples are depleted in Ba, Nb, P, Sr, and Ti and enriched in Rb, K, Th, U, and Pb. Negative Eu-anomalies indicate feldspar fractionation during magma crystallization. The Hai Van granitoids exhibit Nd–Hf isotopic features similar to Proterozoic rocks exposed in South China, with low initial ɛHf and initial ɛNd values and two-stage Hf model ages of 1.9–1.7 Ga. It is suggested that during the palaeo-Tethyan orogeny, central Vietnam experienced strong early Mesozoic magmatism that originated from partial melting of crustal material similar in composition to the basement of the South China block. The South Yellow Sea basin in eastern China has experienced a multi-stage tectonic evolution history. The major structures were created when the basin was a foreland basin during the Mesozoic. However the geological evolution of the basin has not yet been corroborated by direct evidence from the underlying basement rocks. Qianliyan Island in the southern Yellow Sea provides an opportunity to study the formation and evolution of the basin by means of direct geochronological and geochemical evidence. On Qianliyan Island, basement rocks are exposed that consist of granitic gneiss, felsic gneiss and minor mylonite, and lenses of eclogite. Major and trace element characteristics of these four types of gneiss indicate that they originated from crustal material, varying in composition from pelite to greywacke. SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating results of a felsic gneiss sample show that this rock crystallized between 659 and 796 Ma and underwent a metamorphic overprint at 229 ± 4 Ma. This age pattern resembles that of gneisses from the ultra-high-pressure terrain in the Dabie–Sulu belt. We conclude that the study area was part of the northern margin of the Yangtze Block during the Neoproterozoic. Neoproterozoic magmatic activity occurred along this margin and the basement sequence underwent Triassic metamorphic overprint during the northward subduction of the Yangtze Block beneath the North China Block. The eastern Qinling belt is characterized by widespread Mesozoic post-orogenic magmatism and abundant Mo–(Au–Ag) polymetallic mineralization. Most Mo deposits in this belt are genetically related to Mesozoic granitoids. The tectonic context of this close spatial and temporal relationship is still debated. This study reports U–Pb ages and Hf isotopic composition of zircons, major and trace element and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic composition of the Donggou granite porphyry, host rock to one of the important Mesozoic Mo deposits in this orogen. Based on geochemical results, the Donggou granite porphyry is a silica-supersaturated, high-K metaluminous A-type granite showing enrichment in light REEs, depletion in middle REEs and significant negative Eu, Ba, Nb, Sr, P, and Ti anomalies. Negative initial ϵNdvalues of −17.0 to −13.2 for whole-rock and negative initial ϵHfvalues of −19.9 to −7.8 for zircon suggest that the magma was derived from a mixture of Archaean/Proterozoic crustal rocks and mantle-derived or newly added crust. Its Pb isotopic composition is similar to the lower crust of the North China block, but different from superjacent country rocks (Xiong'er and Taihua Groups). Zircon U–Pb dating yields a late Mesozoic emplacement age of 118–117 Ma, identical with the third episode of Mo mineralization in the eastern Qinling–Dabie belt. We postulate that the Donggou Mo-related porphyry granite formed by reworking of North China lower crust with significant input of juvenile material. The location of the suture zone between the South China and Indochina blocks in northwest Vietnam has been under debate for decades. Generally, the boundary between these blocks has been placed along (1) the Ailaoshan–Red River zone or (2) the Song Ma zone. The Sin Quyen Formation, lying between these zones, was previously regarded as a Palaeo- and Mesoproterozoic sequence. It comprises its provenance and tectonic affinity. We analysed detrital zircons from two paragneisses and one migmatite of the Sin Quyen Formation employing laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry U–Pb dating techniques. U–Pb ages of these zircons show three main periods of zircon formation: ∼2.7–3.0, ∼2.2–2.5, and ∼1.8 Ga, suggesting that Sin Quyen rocks were mainly derived from Palaeoproterozoic and Archaean basement units. Inasmuch as the South China basement comprises rocks of similar ages, we conclude that the Sin Quyen Formation belongs to that block. Our new data strengthen the view that the suture between the South China and Indochina blocks is located within the Song Ma zone. In addition, zircons with U–Pb ages >3.0 thousand million years represent the oldest minerals reported in northwest Vietnam so far, indicating the existence of Mesoarchaean crustal remnants in this region.
