This paper reports on the ways that coherence emerged as an ableist norm within a systematic review of literature around broken narratives. It was undertaken as part of a larger programme of research investigating the experiences of those with impaired speech. The review identified 34 sources, within which we explored the ways that coherence was discussed. Throughout the review we argue that these texts draw on, and in many cases re-enact, coherence as an ableist norm. Discussions of broken narratives were often built upon the concept of coherence, a concept which has been naturalised and rendered essential to the formation of meaning and personhood. This norm is then employed to fuel a constitutional divide between broken and unbroken narratives. However, some of the texts provide the impetus to question the usefulness of normative ideals of coherence, and to re-evaluate how we can ensure the voice of impaired speakers is heard. Points of interest: This study examined 34 articles and book chapters about broken narratives. These texts came from many different disciplines and talked about many different types of illness and disability. Many of these texts talked about the importance of coherence in peoples' lives. Coherence was discussed not merely as an element of communicative success, but rather as a prerequisite to a healthy and functioning self. However, the stories of disabled people often do not follow cultural expectations of what a narrative should be. As a result disabled narratives are thought of as broken. When we try to enforce coherence on narratives or voices which do not fit our expectations we can end up silencing disabled people. As the number and needs of cancer survivors grow, innovative ways to enhance survivorship expertise are needed. This pilot study evaluated a 12-week cancer survivorship curriculum delivered to two cohorts of providers at affiliated sites within the Mercy Health System, utilising the Project ECHO® model, on provider self-efficacy (SE), knowledge (KN), and professional improvement (PI). Providers received six 1-hour sessions, informed by provider needs assessment, over 12 weeks. Participants completed pre- and post-session surveys evaluating SE, KN, and PI domains. The average score for survey items overall and within each domain was compared in pre- and post-session survey results. Twenty-six participants completed the baseline survey and 22 completed the post-session survey. For cohort 1, the overall score (0.94, 95% CI [0.45,1.42] p = 0.0023), SE (1.1, [95% CI [0.5,1.7] p = 0.003), and KN domain (1.03, 95% CI [0.45,1.62] p = 0.0036) scores significantly increased. For cohort 2, the overall score (0.617, 95% CI [0.042,1.193] p = 0.0378), SE (0.728, 95% CI [0.048,1.407] p = 0.0379), and KN domains (0.665, 95% CI [0.041,1.289] p = 0.0387) increased significantly. The PI score did not change for either cohort (PI −0.09, 95% CI [−0.67, 0.49] p = 0.726 and 0.000, 95% CI [−0.790,0.790] p > 0.999). This Cancer Survivorship ECHO pilot resulted in a statistically significant increase in provider self-efficacy and knowledge. All 22 participants rated the Cancer Survivorship ECHO pilot experience as having a positive (greater than neutral) result on their training. The Cancer Survivorship ECHO model may serve as a scalable strategy for building cancer survivorship care capacity in community-based oncology practices by equipping multidisciplinary teams to meet the needs of cancer survivors within their communities. Standard online tutorials at The Open University, based in the UK, are generally tutor-led with the tutor setting the agenda and content. This study investigated the inclusion of online student-led drop-in tutorials to support assessment on an OU level one module. The aims were to gauge the value to students of this style of tutorial, to understand their behaviour during the sessions and to assess their overall experience. Data were collected via two student surveys, confidence polls at the end of each tutorial and one student-led focus group. Other evidence used included attendance data and student achievement on the module. Twenty-three percent of the cohort attended at least one drop-in session. The students surveyed indicated that this style of tutorial was a valuable addition to the overall tuition strategy. The majority arrived at the start of each session and stayed until the end, rather than ‘dropping in and out’. Most reported that listening to questions from other students was useful, even if they had no question of their own to ask. The overall findings were that students value this style of tutorial. Those who attended reported increased confidence in subsequently completing assignments. There were also some indications that attendees gained higher assessment scores. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Cognitive fatigue is a complex psychobiological state whereby task performance cannot be maintained. Return-to-work protocols typically rely on self-report measures, therefore the current systematic review aimed to identify "real-time" measures of objective cognitive fatigue to inform return-to-work protocols. Methods: Studies were included if participants were at least 18 years old, assessed "real-time" objective cognitive fatigue that could be used outside of the lab (neuroimaging measures were, therefore, excluded), used an induction task that was separate to the measurement, were adequately powered, compared objective cognitive fatigue at baseline and post-induction, and included a cognitive fatigue induction task that was at least 30 minutes long. Nine electronic databases were searched until 31 December 2022 (MEDLINE; PsychArticle; PubMED, ProQuest; ProQuest for gray literature; Google Scholar; The Cochrane Library; The Health Technology Assessment Database; and Web of Science), with alerts set up on Google Scholar to notify of new relevant research since this date (reviewed until December 2023). The checklist for quasi-experimental studies (Joanna Briggs Institute, 2014) was used to assess the risk of bias. Whilst a meta-analysis was planned, the data were unsuitable so only a narrative synthesis was conducted. Results: Fifty-seven studies were included, which were conducted within a variety of settings including naturalistic work scenarios, driving, aviation, and artificial computer-based tasks. Whilst the review found a range of potential measurements, there were inconsistencies in findings across studies highlighting the need for more research into the reliable measurement of objective cognitive fatigue in natural settings. Discussion: The findings suggest that eye- and body-related measures may be sensitive measures of objective cognitive fatigue. However, comparisons across measurement types should be cautiously interpreted because eye-related and cognitive measures were far more common. Artificial reefs represent useful tools to revitalize coastal and ocean ecosystems. Their formulation determines the biofilm formation which is the prerequisite for the colonization process by marine micro- and macroorganisms. In comparison with concrete, biobased polymers offer improved characteristics, including architecture, formulation, rugosity and recycling. This article aims to explore a new scale of artificial reef made of biocomposites reinforced with a high flax fibre (Linum utilatissimum) content (30%). Cellular adhesion and resulting biofilm formation were assessed using two marine microorganisms: Pseudoalteromonas sp. 3J6 and Cylindrotheca closterium. The influence of flax fibre leachates and plastic monomers on the growth of those marine microorganisms were also evaluated. Results indicated that the introduction of flax fibres inside the polymer matrix modified its physicochemical properties thus modulating adhesion and biofilm formation depending on the microorganism. To investigate the outcomes of patients who underwent curative reirradiation (reRT), with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or proton therapy (PT) for unresectable recurrent or second primary head and neck adenoid cystic carcinoma (HNACC). Ten patients, mostly KPS 90%, were reirradiated (3/10 with IMRT and 7/10 with PT) at a median maximum dose to the CTV of 64.2 Gy from July 2011 to November 2021. Locations at the time of reRT were mainly the sinus (4/10) and the salivary glands (including the parotid and submandibular gland, 3/10). CTCAEv5 was used to assess acute and late toxicities. Follow-up was the time between the end of reRT and the date of last news. The median time between the two irradiations was 53.5 months (IQR: 18–84). After a median follow-up of 26 months (range, 12.5–51.8 months), six patients had developed a locoregional recurrence (LR), of which four occurred within the previously irradiated volume. Two and three-year locoregional failure-free survival (LFFS) and overall survival (OS) were 55.6% [95%CI: 31–99.7%], and 41% [18.5–94%] and 66.7% [42–100%] and 44.4% [21.4–92.3%], respectively. LFFS and OS were significantly better in the subgroup of sinus tumors (p =.013) and the subgroup of patients re-irradiated more than two years after the first course of irradiation (p =.01). Seven patients had impairments before the start of reRT, including hearing impairment (3/10) and facial nerve impairment (3/10). The most severe late toxicities were brain necrosis (2/10), osteoradionecrosis (1/10) and vision decreased (1/10). Curative reRT for HNACC is possible for selected cases, but the LR rate in the irradiated field and the risk of severe toxicity remain high. Improved selection criteria and more carefully defined target volumes may improve outcome in these patients. Pastures represent about half of the global agricultural area and productivity losses from weeds are significant. The complex interactions between them and other pasture plants, livestock and the environment imply a need for innovative research that transforms pasture management. To this end, a horizon scan was conducted to identify relevant issues, questions, opportunities, and drivers. The drivers were ranked using three criteria: (1) is this a horizon (is the driver likely to become important in 10–20 years?); (2) will the research require stretchy science (is it currently not well addressed by the science community?); (3) is the research transformative (will successful scientific research in this area lead to significant changes to weed management in pastures?). We identified 11 major issues and 46 subordinate ones. The three highest ranked major issues were: (1) anticipated reductions in access to herbicides; (2) rethinking weed management under an ecosystem services paradigm; (3) responding to shifts in best practice and the regulations that are altering farm system planning to reduce farming's environmental impacts. We conclude that fundamental interdisciplinary research is needed that addresses biosecurity and weed management issues, while reducing the environmental footprint of farming and maintaining productivity. The thermal expansion induced by the exothermicity of chemical reactions taking place in a turbulent flame affects the flow dynamics so deeply that the velocity field can be imposed by chemistry rather than turbulence. Moreover, thermal expansion is known to be responsible for flame-generated turbulence (FGT) as well as non-gradient or counter-gradient diffusion (CGD) phenomena. In the present study, a specific description of the joint probability-density function (PDF) of the progress variable and velocity is introduced. The corresponding PDF accounts for the finite thickness of the local flame. On the basis of this theoretical framework, the evolution of the scalar fluxes is analyzed across a planar premixed turbulent flame brush described as a boundary layer. The corresponding analysis recovers a CGD region in the planar flame brush as well as a region controlled by gradient diffusion (GD) transport at its leading edge. This region, which corresponds to small values of the mean progress variable, is dominated by finite Damköhler number effects. Finally, the dependency of the normalized turbulent scalar flux to classical nondimensional numbers – i.e., the Bray, Karlovitz and Reynolds numbers – is put into evidence. Two recent analytical results concerning i) the direct initiation of gaseous detonations in free space and ii) the deflagration to detonation transition in tubes are revisited in this article. The first problem is treated by an asymptotic analysis in the limit of small heat release, enlightening the mechanisms controlling the direct initiation process of real detonations. The second one is limited to a one-dimensional mechanism of transition at work on the tip of elongated flames in tubes. Particular attention is paid to the physical mechanisms more than to the technical details of the analyses. Cookstove emissions are a significant source of indoor air pollution in developing countries and rural communities world-wide. Considering that many research sites for evaluating cookstove emissions and interventions are remote and require potentially lengthy periods of particulate matter (PM) filter sample storage in sub-optimal conditions (e.g., lack of cold storage), an important question is whether samples collected in the field are stable over time. To investigate this, red oak was burned in a natural-draft stove, and fine PM (PM2.5) was collected on polytetrafluoroethylene filters. Filters were stored at either ambient temperature or more optimal conditions (-20 °C or -80 °C) for up to 3months and extracted. The effects of storage temperature and length on stability were evaluated for measurements of extractable organic matter (EOM), PM2.5, and polycyclic aromatic compound (PAC) levels in the filter extracts. A parallel, controlled laboratory condition was also evaluated to further explore sources of variability. In general, PM2.5 and EOM in both simulated field and laboratory samples were similar regardless of the storage condition or duration. The extracts were also analyzed by gas chromatography to quantify 22 PACs and determine similarities and/or differences between the conditions. PAC levels were a more sensitive stability measure in differentiating between storage conditions. The findings suggest that measurements are relatively consistent across storage duration/temperatures for filter samples with relatively low EOM levels. This study aims to inform protocols and filter storage procedures for exposure and intervention research conducted in low- and middle-income countries where studies may be budget- and infrastructure-limited. Though much work has examined how sexual orientation and body shape are jointly constituted, less has examined the joint perception of body shape, gender/sex, and sexuality. We draw upon multifarious person perception approaches to examine how personality and sexuality-related traits are attributed to bodies of varying shape (skinny, average, fat) when presented with differing social identities along the axes of gender/sex (male, female) and sexual orientation (heterosexual, lesbian/gay). In a sample of 991 participants, we found robust evidence that trait application varied by both body shape and sexual orientation. Further, supporting our hypotheses, we found that gay male bodies were perceived as more feminine than heterosexual male bodies, and skinny male bodies were perceived as more feminine than other body shapes. Supporting additional hypothesizing, lesbian female bodies were perceived as more masculine than heterosexual female bodies, and fat female bodies were perceived as the most masculine across sexual orientations. Partially supporting our hypotheses, we found that average bodies were perceived as the most typical for all identities; further, bodies perceived as less typical of their social identity category were perceived as experiencing heightened prejudice on the basis of body shape. This study sought to examine the association between male-to-female physical, psychological, and sexual violence and controlling behaviors of male partners. Further, the moderating effect of insecure attachment style on this association was examined in the context of South Korea. Existing national data collected from a representative Korean sample of 2,000 unmarried men was utilized. Findings indicated controlling behaviors among men were positively and negatively associated with psychological and physical violence, respectively, and no association was observed with sexual violence against female partners. Anxious attachment moderated the relationship between control over partner and psychological abuse. The avoidant attachment was identified as a quasi and pure moderator for the associations between control over the partner and physical and sexual violence, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article examines the post-medieval letter graffiti present at historic sites in the UK, and carries out a statistical analysis of the markings across multiple sites, with a view to determining authorship and intent. The data from the graffiti inscriptions is also examined within the wider social history context of naming traditions within the UK and elsewhere, and concludes that a measurable and distinct gender bias is present amongst the historical graffiti that has wide reaching implications with regard to concepts of gendered space and social norms. Auger emitters exhibit interesting features due to their emission of a cascade of short-range Auger electrons. Maximum DNA breakage efficacy is achieved when decays occur near DNA. Studies of double-strand breaks (DSBs) yields in plasmids revealed cutoff distances from DNA axis of 10.5 Å–12 Å, beyond which the mechanism of DSBs moves from direct to indirect effects, and the yield decreases rapidly. Some authors suggested that the average energy deposited in a DNA cylinder could explain such cutoffs. We aimed to study this hypothesis in further detail. Using the Monte Carlo code CELLDOSE, we investigated the influence of the 125I atom position on energy deposits and absorbed doses per decay not only in a DNA cylinder, but also in individual strands, each modeled as 10 spheres encompassing the fragility sites for phosphodiester bond cleavage. The dose per decay decreased much more rapidly for a sphere in the proximal strand than for the DNA cylinder. For example, when moving the 125I source from 10.5 Å to 11.5 Å, the average dose to the sphere dropped by 43%, compared to only 13% in the case of the cylinder. Explaining variations in DSBs yields with 125I position should consider the probability of inducing damage in the proximal strand (nearest to the 125I atom). The energy received by fragility sites in this strand is highly influenced by the isotropic (4π) emission of 125I low-energy Auger electrons. Objective To examine the relationship between baseline renal function (serum creatinine, urine protein to creatinine ratio) in women with diabetes and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Study Design This was a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies with pregestational diabetes and baseline renal function tests <20 weeks gestational age (wga) from the years 2007 to 2013. Those with baseline creatinine ≥1.2 mg/dL were excluded due to the association of renal disease with adverse outcomes. The primary outcome was the development of preeclampsia with severe features at <34 wga. Secondary outcomes were preeclampsia at any gestational age, preterm birth, indicated preterm birth, small for gestational age, and a neonatal adverse outcomes composite. The relationship between baseline renal function and the primary outcome was assessed with ROC curves. Objective cutoffs were determined by the Liu method. Outcomes were compared using univariable and multivariable analyses. Results Baseline renal function was assessed in 321 women with pregestational diabetes. With baseline serum creatinine <1.2 mg/dL serum creatinine was not associated with preeclampsia <34 weeks (AUC 0.47, 95% CI = 0.32–0.63). Urine protein to creatinine (UPC) ratio was moderately associated with preeclampsia <34 weeks with area under curve (AUC) 0.56 (0.39–0.74). Baseline creatinine above the Liu cutoff (0.65 mg/dL) was not significantly associated with primary or secondary outcomes (Table 1). UPC above the Liu cutoff (0.21) was significantly associated with severe preeclampsia <34 wga (24% vs 3.7%, aOR = 6.6, 95% CI = 2.1–20.8), with development of preeclampsia at any gestational age (56% vs 23.4%, aOR = 3.3, 95% CI = 1.4–7.9), and preterm birth (80% vs 36.2%, aOR 6.5 95% CI = 2.3–18.1). Conclusion Creatinine was not associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes at thresholds <1.2 mg/dL in women with pregestational diabetes. Those with a baseline UPC ≥ 0.21 have an increased risk of preeclampsia and preterm delivery. Baseline 24 hr urine protein should be obtained in these patients to aid in counseling and future diagnosis of preeclampsia. Given that the prevailing literature largely neglects the unwanted sexual activity experiences of men, this study examined both prevalence and predictors of men's compliance with unwanted, but consensual, sexual activity. Specifically, we examined whether traditional gender-role endorsement, belief in male sexuality stereotypes, and age predict sexual compliance among heterosexual men. Participants (N = 426 men) completed a brief demographic questionnaire, measures of gender-role beliefs and male sexuality stereotypes, as well as a modified measure investigating motives for consenting to unwanted kissing, sexual touching, oral sex, and/or penetrative sex. The reported incidence rate of mild sexual compliance (i.e. consenting to unwanted kissing at least once) in heterosexual men was 61.3% over the past 12 months. Results suggest that sexual compliance in heterosexual men may be predicted by their endorsement of traditional gender-role beliefs and male sexuality stereotypes. Moreover, men may be motivated to be sexually compliant due to motives of altruism, intoxication, sexual inexperience, peer pressure, popularity, and sex-role concerns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Labiaplasty is an increasingly common form of cosmetic surgery involving the removal of portions of the labia minora to achieve a smaller, more symmetrical labial appearance. Labiaplasty is inextricably linked to the colonial medicalization of Black women's labia, necessitating examination of labiaplasty and race in concert. Participants (N = 4351, Mage = 26.58; SDage = 8.89) were shown 12 randomized images of White and Black female genitalia – unaware that they were "before and after" images of labiaplasty procedures – and evaluated them on their alignment with societal ideals, personal ideals, perceived normalcy, and disgustingness. As hypothesized, postoperative labia were rated as more normal, more societally ideal, and more personally ideal than their preoperative counterparts; preoperative labia were rated as more disgusting than postoperative labia. Preoperative Black labia were perceived as more normal, more societally ideal, and more personally ideal, as well as less disgusting, than preoperative White labia. Postoperative White labia were perceived as more normal, more societally and personally ideal, and less disgusting than postoperative Black labia. Gender trends were inconclusive. Our findings point to the need for greater examination of how White bodily ideals shape evaluations of bodies, and for greater historical contextualization in research on labiaplasty. Parent-child role confusion has been shown to influence developmental outcomes for children whose parents have a history of depression; however, more research is needed to understand the pathways by which parental depression increases risk of role confusion. The current study aimed to extend previous literature by evaluating how different family processes (e.g., interparental conflict, guilt induction, family cohesion, and positive parenting practices) contribute to the development of emotional role confusion in families with a history of parental depression. The sample was comprised of 90 parent-child dyads (parent Mage= 42, 90% female, 83.3% White; child Mage = 11.51, 51.1% female, 75.6% White) participating in the control group of a randomized controlled trial. All parents had a history of depression. A longitudinal path analysis was conducted to evaluate prospective associations in the multiple mediator model. Findings from the current study suggest that parental depressive symptoms are not directly related to the development of parent-child emotional role confusion, but are instead indirectly related through increased interparental conflict observed by youth. Although not identified as significant mediators, guilt induction and positive parenting practices emerged as predictors of emotional role confusion. Lastly, family cohesion did not appear to influence the development of role confusion. Findings suggest that parenting behaviors and coparenting relationship quality play important roles in the development of parent-child emotional role confusion, with interparental conflict emerging as the strongest predictor in families with a history of parental depression. This process aims to identify discourses across transnational music by focusing on issues pertaining to race and environmental racism in the context of the French refusal to use the socially constructed term "race" to address racial discrimination in the country. Globular Glial Tauopathy (GGT) is a rare form of Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTLD) consisting of 4-repeat tau globular inclusions in astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. We present the pathological findings of GGT in a previously published case of a 73-year-old woman with behavioral symptoms concerning for right temporal variant frontotemporal dementia with initial and salient features of Geschwind syndrome. Clinically, she lacked motor abnormalities otherwise common in previously published GGT cases. Brain MRI showed focal right anterior temporal atrophy (indistinguishable from five FTLD-TDP cases) and subtle ipsilateral white matter signal abnormalities. In October 2018, Channel 4 confirmed that Leeds would be home to its National HQ, while Bristol and Glasgow would be the locations of two new Creative Hubs. This decision followed a competitive bidding process which fits within a broader paradigm of local and regional development led by the cultural and creative sector and specifically links to an articulation of the value of creative hubs. Within the context of the promotion of a creative hubs paradigm, this article responds to the need for more detailed investigations of political and pragmatic investment decisions around regional screen production. It examines some of the public narratives around the bidding process for the Leeds HQ and Glasgow Hub, as well as those aspects of the relocation that were "hidden" from official accounts put forward by C4 and local, regional and national government bodies. A fully cored sequence of Hesse Clay, Port Campbell Limestone and uppermost Gellibrand Marl in the onshore Otway Basin, southeastern Australia, offers new insight into the evolution of the middle Miocene Port Campbell Limestone. The Port Campbell Limestone comprises grey unconsolidated to semi-consolidated and rarely lithified bioclastic muddy carbonate sands in a stack of thin repetitive cycles within cycles of predominantly shoaling-upward character. A glauconitic band with a distinctive mollusc–echinoderm–bryozoan fauna provides a distinctive marker interval in the sequence. In mineralogy, the Port Campbell Limestone is predominantly calcite with traces of remnant aragonite in muddier low-permeability sands, and with dolomitic zones in permeable intervals. The small non-carbonate component of the Port Campbell Limestone is between 3 and 15 wt% and comprises quartz silt with minor clay, feldspar and mica. Dissolution overprints are prominent throughout the carbonate sequence. Three distinct geochemical signatures of provenance are evident in the Port Campbell Limestone sequence, including possible volcanogenic contributions with felsic sources. Foraminifera are common and generally well preserved. Foraminiferal data suggest a depositional transition from outer shelf conditions in the Gellibrand Marl at ca 15 Ma to middle shelf environments in the lower part of the Port Campbell Limestone during the Middle Miocene Climatic Optimum (MMCO) at ca 14.24 Ma. Shallowing after 14 Ma indicates variable paleodepths of <70 m during and following the end of the Middle Miocene Climatic Transition (MMCT) at ca 13.2 Ma when the sequence was emergent for a brief but undetermined period, corresponding with sharp changes in geochemical ratios. Observed cyclicity in these mid-shelfal, cold-water carbonates is strongly correlated with orbital forcings—eccentricity and obliquity. Sedimentation rates determined from cyclostratigraphic analysis indicate 4–6 cm/kyr at the end of the MMCO, diminishing to 1.5–3 cm/kyr during the MMCT and the subsequent accumulation of the Port Campbell Limestone. The Port Campbell Limestone is a stack of thin repetitive depositional cycles within cycles. The cyclicity is strongly correlated with orbital forcings—eccentricity and obliquity—and this is reflected in the geochemistry. Contemporary culture has afforded a new sexualised identity to fatherhood. Fathers are often labelled as nurturing, dominant, and domesticated; attributes demonstrably appealing to females. Colloquially, the sexy dad has come to be referred to as 'DILF' (i.e., Dad I'd Like to Fuck), a concept popularised in the media since its debut online in 2011. DILFs are increasingly searched for by women on pornography websites, evidence of an increasing sexual interest in or awareness of the DILF phenomenon. As the DILF is reflective of shifts in popular culture pertaining to media, gendered parenting, notions of masculinity, and women's sexual expression, this study explored whether women find DILFs more attractive than otherwise equally attractive men without children. Female participants were randomly assigned to one of two possible male profile conditions of the same attractive man (with children versus without children). Results revealed that women rated the male target with children as possessing more positive attributes relative to the male target without children. Follow-up analyses revealed more positive emotional attributes ascribed to the DILF target condition, whereas more positive social attributes were ascribed to the non-DILF target condition. Background: Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) incidence has been dramatically increasing worldwide. Psoralen, a known photocarcinogen, is naturally abundant in citrus products, leading to the hypothesis that high citrus consumption may increase NMSC risk. Methods: We fitted age- and multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models to evaluate the association between citrus consumption and NMSC risk among 197,372 UKBB participants. A total of 9,613 NMSC cases were identified using International Classification of Disease 10 codes. Citrus consumption data were collected via five rounds of 24-hour recall questionnaires. Results: We found no association between high total citrus consumption and NMSC risk, although a slightly elevated NMSC risk was observed among participants who consumed >0 to half a serving of total citrus per day (OR [95% CI] = 1.08 [1.01-1.16]). There was no association between individual citrus products and NMSC risk. Conclusion: High citrus consumption was not associated with an increased risk of NMSC in our UKBB sample. The assumptions people make from body shape can have serious implications for the well-being of the individuals inhabiting such bodies. Fat people are subject to pervasive and resilient social stigma and discrimination, leading to negative mental and physical health outcomes, including negative sexuality-related outcomes. Though previous studies have examined the personality traits attributed to, or the sexual attractiveness of, varying body shapes, no research has asked participants to make attributions of sexual traits to varying body shapes. The purpose of this study was thus to examine sexuality-related trait inferences made from body shapes. Participants (N = 891, 70% women, Mage = 25.28) were randomly assigned to view 5 computer-generated 3-dimensional body models of varying shapes developed using the skinned multi-person linear model. Participants rated their sexual attraction to each body and the degree to which each of 30 traits (10 personality and 20 sexual) applied. Results demonstrated that larger bodies are generally viewed as less sexually attractive. Further, constellations of sexuality traits were predicted reliably by body shape, demonstrating that people hold sexual stereotypes about a diverse range of body shapes. The prevalence of Gambling Disorder among Koreans suggests that it is relatively higher than other countries. This study explored gambling-related crimes and related mental health care needs of those with Gambling Disorder on a case-by-case basis. Participants (n = 6) included men attending Gamblers Anonymous in South Korea with gambling debts and histories of illegal acts. Thematic analysis of qualitative interviews identified themes: (1) Meaning of Gambling Disorder in life, (2) Initiation of illegal acts stemming from Gambling Disorder, and (3) Life after addiction, efforts for recovery, and mental health care needs. This paper examines differing articulations of proto-lesbian identity in the long nineteenth century, in which educated, middle-class white women emulated the figure of Sappho in their writing and formulated Sappho-inspired communities through creative salons, societies, clubs, and social/literary networks. It maps the progression from the romantic friendships of the eighteenth century to the Boston marriages of the nineteenth century, to the beginning of the twentieth century, when love between women went from noble and virtuous to deviant and morbid sexual 'inversion'. The question is not only treated chronologically but geographically, the position of American-based women writers juxtaposed with the opportunities afforded by specifically 'Paris-Lesbos'. The following study maps these Transatlantic communities as early forms of 'Lesbian Nations' through their use of the 'Lesbian' poet. Physics is often presented as disembodied, separating learners from opportunities to utilize their bodies as sense-making resources. By ignoring issues of body, ethnicity and culture, these framings limit access to physics for many, including Black girls, who struggle to gain access to physics. Studying the situated, embodied cultural practices of Black girls in physics learning environments provides a window into the range of resources available for physics exploration and illuminates possibilities for culturally relevant physics pedagogies. We engaged in micro-ethnographic analysis of video of youth actions and interactions during collaborative activities that combined dance and dance-making practices with physics content. Our findings show how (1) dance offered an embodied lens for physics investigation; (2) positioning movement as inquiry gave dancers access to an expanded vocabulary for sense-making; and (3) dance provided opportunities to bring in social and cultural resources as critical funds of knowledge. This article expands the view of funds of knowledge by reintroducing the body, movement, and embodied interaction as resources for learning and engagement and offers an expanded view of physics sense-making that includes cultural embodied resources and foregrounds Black girls, whose voices and experiences are often left out of learning research. Fifteen lambs from a flock of 1,000, 5-month-old Romney lambs in the Manawatū region of New Zealand, developed unusual postural and gait abnormalities during the summer of 2020. In mid-January, the lambs were grazing a raphanobrassica crop (xRaphanobrassica; Brassica oleracea x Raphanus sativus) but were removed from this crop soon after as they developed dermal lesions on the pinnae consistent with photosensitisation (colloquially known as "rape scald"). The lambs were placed onto a shaded paddock containing a pasture of predominantly perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) and white clover (Trifolium repens). One week following removal from the crop (late January), the 15 lambs developed abnormal postures and gaits that were described by farm staff as "neurological" and "swayback-like". From a distance, all 15 lambs exhibited remarkably similar abnormal posture and gait whereby their weight was borne on their carpi, and they appeared to crawl while walking due to crouched hindquarters and prominent lordosis. Of the affected lambs, five were submitted for clinical examination. All five had normal vital signs. The results of neurological examinations were within normal limits. In response to palpation of the dorsum, the lambs performed an exaggerated and unusual dipping motion, particularly when pressure was applied over the lumbar spine. Parting of the fleece over the dorsum revealed thickened, indurated skin that cracked and tore easily. The shorn pelt of a euthanised lamb revealed a large (100 cm × 40 cm), locally extensive, irregular ovoid region of the skin of the dorsum that was markedly thickened, indurated and crusted. Impression smears of the lesions revealed long filamentous chains of plump coccoid bacteria separated by transverse and longitudinal septa, consistent with Dermatophilus congolensis. Histopathology of the lesions revealed severe, chronic-active, locally extensive, necrosuppurative dermatitis with marked acanthosis, orthokeratotic and parakeratotic hyperkeratosis, ulceration, filamentous bacteria and coccoid zoospores. Cutaneous dermatophilosis due to Dermatophilus congolensis. Painful dermal lesions due to severe dermatophilosis of the dorsal skin of sheep are capable of causing postural and gait abnormalities that may be misinterpreted as signs of neurological abnormality. Teachers need ways to efficiently assess students' cognitive understanding. One promising approach involves easily adapted and administered item types that yield quantitative scores that can be interpreted in terms of whether or not students likely possess key understandings. This study illustrates an approach to analyzing response process validity evidence from item types for assessing two important aspects of proportional reasoning. Data include results from an interview protocol used with 33 middle school students to compare their responses to prototypical item types to their conceptions of composed unit and multiplicative comparison. The findings provide validity evidence in support of the score interpretations for the item types but also detail important item specifications and caveats. Discussion includes recommendations for extending the research for examining response process validity evidence in support of claims related to cognitive interpretations of scores for other key mathematical conceptions. Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells have emerged as highly effective treatments for patients with hematologic malignancies, similar efficacy has not been achieved in the context of solid tumors. There are several reasons for this disparity including a) fewer solid tumor target antigens, b) heterogenous target expression amongst tumor cells, c) poor trafficking of CAR T cells to the solid tumor and d) an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Oncolytic viruses have the potential to change this paradigm by a) directly lysing tumor cells and releasing tumor neoantigens, b) stimulating the local host innate immune response to release cytokines and recruit additional innate and adaptive immune cells, c) carrying virus-encoded transgenes to "re-program" the TME to a pro-inflammatory environment and d) promoting an adaptive immune response to the neoantigens in this newly permissive TME. Here we show that the Tumor-Specific Immuno-Gene (T-SIGn) virus NG-347 which encodes IFNa, MIP1a and CD80 synergizes with anti-EGFR CAR T cells as well as anti-HER-2 CAR T cells to clear A549 human tumor xenografts and their pulmonary metastases at doses which are subtherapeutic when each is used as a sole treatment. We show that NG-347 changes the TME to a pro-inflammatory environment resulting in the recruitment and activation of both CAR T cells and mouse innate immune cells. The denigration of competitors is an evolved strategy used to give the impression that a rival is less appealing. Evidence indicates that women denigrate other women principally on appearance and sexual fidelity because men value these qualities in partners. The current investigation examined whether indirect aggression – the spreading of reputation-harming information about a rival woman – is a strategy utilised by both straight and lesbian women. Additionally, we explored whether it was influenced by the extent to which a rival target was identified as 'threatening' or sexually promiscuous. Female participants were assigned to one of two possible target vignette/photographic conditions (sexualised versus neutral) based on their self-identified sexual orientation. All were provided the same information about the target's social life, asked whether they would share that information with others, and completed a threat assessment. Findings suggest that lesbian and straight women both use competitor derogation as a mating strategy and are more likely to denigrate targets they perceive as sexual rivals. Straight women reported a greater likelihood of conveying reputation-harming information about the target in the sexualised condition compared to the neutrally dressed condition, but dress did not influence lesbians' likelihood of denigration. Poor quality diet, physical inactivity, and obesity are prevalent, covariant risk factors for chronic disease, suggesting that behaviour change techniques (BCTs) that effectively change one risk factor might also improve the others. To examine that question, registered meta-review CRD42019128444 synthesised evidence from 30 meta-analyses published between 2007 and 2017 aggregating data from 409,185 participants to evaluate whether inclusion of 14 self-regulatory BCTs in health promotion interventions was associated with greater improvements in outcomes. Study populations and review quality varied, with minimal overlap among summarised studies. AMSTAR-2 ratings averaged 37.31% (SD = 16.21%; range 8.33–75%). All BCTs were examined in at least one meta-analysis; goal setting and self-monitoring were evaluated in 18 and 20 reviews, respectively. No BCT was consistently related to improved outcomes. Although results might indicate that BCTs fail to benefit diet and activity self-regulation, we suggest that a Type 3 error occurred, whereby the meta-analytic research design implemented to analyse effects of multi-component intervention trials designed for a different purpose was mismatched to the question of how BCTs affect health outcomes. An understanding of independent and interactive effects of individual BCTs on different health outcomes and populations is needed urgently to ground a cumulative science of behaviour change. We blend person perception work with queer appearance psychology to examine the relationship between body size and bisexuality. In an online survey (N = 472, Mage = 25.15, 63.8% women), we examined the specific traits associated with a range of computer-modeled bodies identified as bisexual. We found that average body sizes were perceived as most prototypical of both bisexual men and bisexual women, skinny, and fat bodies were more associated with clusters of traits that contrast with common stereotypes about bisexuality. Additionally, we found that bisexual men were associated with increased masculinity and decreased femininity relative to bisexual women, and found a general, though nonsignificant trend such that bisexual men were perceived as having heightened androcentric desire relative to women. Finally, we found evidence for the role of typicality as a mediator of perceived prejudice; less prototypical bodies tended to be perceived as experiencing greater prejudice based on body size. Nurse practitioners utilize curbside consultation, an interprofessional collaboration communication process in which one clinician seeks advice from another, in clinical decision-making practices. Nevertheless, this process is not well-understood. A qualitative design with individual open-ended interviews was used to explore the phenomenon of curbside consultation among nurse practitioners for clinical decision-making. Twenty primary care and specialty nurse practitioners participated. Participants were recruited via purposive sampling from in-patient and out-patient settings in order to reach saturation of themes. Using inductive content analyses, the findings revealed that nurse practitioners made multiple decisions in the course of information-seeking and its application during the curbside consultation process. Motivated by the patient's best interest, nurse practitioners provided advice in the curbside consultation exchange and sought answers to questions encountered in clinical decision-making. Multiple resources were often utilized with curbside consultation frequently evolving into formal consultation. Dynamics of curbside consultation included (a)synchronous approaches including text, e-mail, telephone, or face-to-face processes. Once information was received, nurse practitioners decided whether they (dis)agreed with advice and if validation was necessary. Nurse practitioners utilized curbside consultation for clinical decision-making and means for interprofessional collaboration, thereby increasing clinical competency and promoting quality patient outcomes. Before colonization, there were over 250 languages spoken in Australia. Today only thirteen Indigenous languages are still being taught to children). Language has an important part to play in cultural maintenance and 'closing the gap' in terms of First Peoples' cultural heritage, identity, and sense of belonging. In this work, we aim to develop an engaging and easy way to teach and learn the local Indigenous names of wildflowers using a mobile device. This paper presents the development of a phone application that runs on a local machine, recognizes local wildflowers through its camera, and plays associated sounds and displays associated text in the Noongar language. The prototype mobile application has been developed with MobileNets model on the TensorFlow platform. The dataset is derived from Google searches, while the sound files are generated from label text by running an apple script. UI and interactivity have been developed by using Vuforia and the Unity game engine. Finally, the Android Studio is used to deploy the app. At this point in time, the prototype can only recognize ten local flowers, with 85%∼99% of accuracy. The need to give strategic direction to complex regional systems has never been greater, but reinstating a classic strategic plan model that failed to secure consistently positive impacts, or even sustain its own practice, is a mistaken route. With a mix of conceptual analysis, critical review of past experience and examination of population dynamics across England's Wider South East and its fringes, this paper argues for a decentred form of strategic governance based on the development of a capacity for negotiated collaboration and realistic engagement with powerful market and institutional processes on a sustained basis. Otitis media is very common in Aboriginal children in Western Australia and chronic ear disease causes major problems in speech and language development and education. Up until recently, most programmes dealing with the problem of OM have focused on clinical interventions rather than prevention. The Enhanced Prevention Working Group was established as part of the WA Child Ear Health Strategy (2017–2021). The Group has worked collaboratively to develop a set of recommendations for prevention of OM in Aboriginal children. These recommendations were informed by WA-based health promotion interventions initiated by Aboriginal Health Practitioners at a community level. This paper provides a historical perspective of the current situation and discusses each of the recommendations from Aboriginal Health Practitioners working within their community. It is human nature to perceive things differently and subsequently to define those differences as either good or bad. How does this dichotomous way of thinking affect an educators approach to culturally responsive teaching, specifically when teaching sexuality education? Drawing from interviews of 10 sexuality educators who received above average intercultural competence scores, this study explored educators' perspectives on culturally responsive sexuality education, and describes the approaches interculturally competent sexuality educators used to navigate perceived differences in learning environments. Perinatal depression is estimated to affect one in seven pregnant women. As such, social support has been shown to impact the mental health of women during the perinatal period. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to examine the types of social support received by pregnant and parenting Mexican-American adolescent mothers and their perceptions of how it can influence perinatal mental health. Deductive content analysis was used to analyze the data using emotional, instrumental, and informational support as primary categories. Positive and negative aspects of the adolescent's social network were also included to understand how individuals impact their mental health. A convenience sample of 20 perinatal Mexican-American adolescents were interviewed. Emotional support, such as encouragement and affirmation, as well as instrumental support, via financial assistance and help with infant care, were primarily sought from significant others, which consisted of family members and their partner. Having strained relationships with their significant others primarily contributed to emotional distress. Health care providers were often sought out for informational support concerning perinatal depression. However, some adolescents were unable to establish rapport with their health care provider, making it difficult to inquire about pertinent mental health information. Study findings suggest that identifying support needs and expectations is an important component of facilitating positive mental health outcomes for Mexican-American adolescent mothers. Future efforts to promote mental health and prevent perinatal depression among Mexican-American adolescent mothers should consider integrating a strong focus on social support. Despite maximal surgical resection and chemoradiation, glioblastoma (GBM) continues to be associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Novel therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. Given success in treating multiple other forms of cancer, checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy remains foremost amongst novel therapeutic strategies that are currently under investigation. Through a systematic review of both published literature and the latest preliminary data available from ongoing clinical studies, we provide an up-to-date discussion on the immune system in the CNS, a detailed mechanistic evaluation of checkpoint biology in the CNS along with evidence for disruption of these pathways in GBM, and a summary of available preclinical and clinical data for checkpoint blockade in GBM. We also include a discussion of novel, emerging targets for checkpoint blockade which may play an important role in GBM immunotherapy. Evidence indicates that while clinical success of checkpoint blockade for the treatment of GBM has been limited to date, through improved preclinical models, optimization in the context of standard of care therapies, assay standardization and harmonization, and combinatorial approaches which may include novel targets for checkpoint blockade, checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy may yield a safe and effective therapeutic option for the treatment of GBM. Paternal perinatal depression can occur in approximately one out of ten fathers. However, research within this population is limited. A previous systematic review suggested that United States had higher rates of paternal perinatal depression compared to other countries. Therefore, this systematic review identified psychosocial factors for depression during the perinatal period in fathers who live in the United States. A literature search was conducted from multiple databases using keywords and MeSH terms to retrieve articles up to the year 2019. Twenty five articles were included in this review. A social-ecological framework was applied to identify psychosocial factors associated with paternal depression. Individual factors include prior history of depression, having maladaptive cognitive coping styles, fathers who self-identified as African-American or Hispanic, parenting stress, substance use, and history of criminal conviction. Interpersonal factors include lack of social support, quality of relationship with the mother of the baby, coparenting conflict, quality of current and childhood relationships with their own parents, and maternal depression. Community factors include frequent daily experiences with racism, and limited access to transportation and housing. These findings underscore the importance of assessing depression and developing father-inclusive interventions that address the psychological needs of fathers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Family structures in the United States have changed dramatically. Almost half of children growing up will spend some portion of their childhood in one of the following arrangements: single parent home, two homes, or living with one parent and a stepparent/intimate partner of their parent. Although child and adolescent mental health-care providers are treating children in families with complicated histories, and evidence supported interventions (ESI) typically include caregivers in child treatment, neither research nor manuals speak to variability in family structure, especially if parents are engaged in frequent court contact on divorce/child-related issues and/or there have been allegations of violence, abuse, or impaired parenting behavior. Children whose parents are frequently in court are vulnerable and also at risk of not having access to ESIs – even when an ESI is strongly indicated. Instead, children may be court ordered to alternative treatments or changes in parenting time after allegations of violence without protective or therapeutic interventions. Mental health clinicians can be informed of these risks, knowledgeable about family violence and prepared to expertly and ethically adapt ESI for this vulnerable population. This paper addresses adaptations in ESI for this population by providing a brief review of the underlying developmental and legal issues at play, recommended adaptations, and using three fictional and representative case studies. With the advent of 'big data', the purpose of this empirical study was to take the opportunity to rethink conventional market segmentation strategies. This is particularly relevant for the automotive industry which is going through a period of rapid change with advanced technologies such as electric powered and autonomous vehicles, creating increased concerns as to how this complexity is communicated effectively. A mixed methods approach was utilised to collect data from multiple sources, incorporating in-depth discussion groups, semi-structured interviews, an online survey, and data collection of communication processes through the attendance of new car product launches. The results suggest that marketing departments should rethink their data capture methods to collect more relevant consumer information, not the contemporary trend of needs, attitude, and motivation variables that are difficult to identify and collect, but basic information on their level of familiarity with products through previous experience and exposure. The basic dimensions identified are characterised by a consumer's expertise, involvement, and familiarity with a product. The findings are synthesised into a theoretical framework to define differing levels of product complexity, which would enable manufacturers to provide more closely defined market segmentation strategies when communicating new product information.
