To translate ABILHAND-NMD and ACTIVLIM into Norwegian and assess their psychometric properties in adults with Myotonic Dystrophy type 1(DM1). ABILHAND-NMD and ACTIVLIM were translated into Norwegian through a standardized translation process. Psychometric properties of the translated questionnaires were tested. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC3.1) was used to assess test-retest reliability and Cronbach's α for internal consistency. The validity of the questionnaires was also assessed. A total of 39 adults with DM1 were included. We found excellent test-retest reliability on ABILHAND-NMD (ICC 0.91) and ACTIVLIM (ICC 0.93). We found a good internal consistency of ABILHAND-NMD with Cronbach's α (95%CI) of 0.80 (0.69–0.88) and ACTIVLIM with Cronbach's α (95%CI) of 0.88 (0.82–0.93) An expert group of healthcare professionals and a pilot group reported good face and content validity. We found a high correlation between ABILHAND-NMD and ACTIVLIM (r = 0.75), p < 0.001 implying good convergent validity. ABILHAND-NMD and ACTIVLIM showed no floor effect, but a potential for ceiling effect. The Norwegian versions of ABILHAND-NMD and ACTIVLIM are reliable and valid patient reported outcome measures for Myotonic Dystrophy type 1. The questionnaires are easy to administer as they take a short time to answer, and the participants reported no problems understanding the questions. Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 cause myopathy and altered muscle function. Impaired arm- and hand function increases patients' need for assistance and reduces independence. The use of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) to uncover impairments and activity limitations is important in clinical practice and research. To verify the psychometric properties of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of the Falls Behavioral (FaB-Brazil) Scale in Parkinson's disease (PD). Participants (n = 96) were assessed by disease-specific, self-report and functional mobility measures. Internal consistency of the FaB-Brazil scale was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha and inter-rater and test–retest reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The standard error of measurement (SEM), minimal detectable change (MDC), ceiling and floor effects, and convergent and discriminative validity were evaluated. Internal consistency was moderate (α = 0.77). Excellent inter-rater (ICC = 0.90; p < 0.001) and test–retest (ICC = 0.91; p < 0.001) reliability were found. The SEM was 0.20 and MDC was 0.38. Ceiling and floor effects were not found. Convergent validity was established by the positive correlations between the FaB-Brazil scale and age, modified Hoehn and Yahr, PD duration, Movement Disorders Society-Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale, Motor Aspects of Experiences of Daily Living, Timed Up & Go and 8-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire, and negative correlations between the FaB-Brazil scale and community mobility, Schwab & England, and Activities-specific Balance Confidence scale. Females showed greater protective behaviors than males; recurrent fallers showed greater protective behaviors than non-recurrent fallers (p < 0.05). The FaB-Brazil scale is reliable and valid for assessing people with PD. Fall-related behaviors should be part of the fall risk assessment of community-dwelling people with Parkinson's disease. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of motivational interviewing (MI) and mindfulness (MF) added to neuromuscular (NM) exercises on improving pain, function, balance, and quality of life in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA). This randomized clinical trial was conducted on sixty patients who were randomly assigned to the MI + NM, MF + NM, and NM groups. The groups received four training sessions for six weeks. Physical function with Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index timed up and go, going up and down eight stairs, pain with visual analogue scale, quality of life with SF36, and balance with Biodex were evaluated before and after interventions. Within-group comparisons showed that NM + MI, NM + MF, and NM groups experienced significant improvement in all factors after six-week (p < 0.05). However, between groups, comparisons in the post-test revealed that the MI + NM group had a more significant effect on pain, function, and static balance than the MF + NM group. Nevertheless, the MF + NM group improved the quality of life better than the MI + NM and NM groups (p < 0.05). Adding psychological interventions to physical exercises had a better effect on improving the symptoms of patients. Additionally, the MI showed more effectiveness in improving the symptoms of patients. Adding motivational interviewing to neuromuscular exercises has shown to reduce pain intensity and improved function, balance and quality of life in adults with knee osteoarthritis. To assess professional reintegration, the perceived impact of stroke on work, and the main determinants of return to work (RTW) among stroke survivors. A cross-sectional study was performed, based on a cohort of stroke survivors. A structured questionnaire was administered to previously working stroke survivors, 18–24 months post-stroke. Data on sociodemographic characteristics, stroke features and their impact on work, access to rehabilitation services during hospital admission and after discharge, social support, and professional reintegration were reported by 553 stroke survivors. On average, 56.6% (95% CI 52.4–60.8) of stroke survivors resumed professional activity, 20 months after stroke. Approximately 90% of survivors who RTW, returned to the same job and same function they performed before stroke. The majority did not receive reintegration support. The main determinants of RTW were lower age, higher socioeconomic status, and better functional status. Professional reintegration and vocational support after stroke, remained below the international goals for community reintegration of stroke survivors. Future studies should explore the impact of professional and social reintegration on the psychological health and quality of life of stroke survivors and the barriers, challenges, and strategies used to overcome them, to allow for effective professional reintegration policies. The amount of professionally active people affected by stroke events is rising worldwide, with increasing numbers of survivors with restricted occupational participation. Higher age and lower socioeconomic status appear to be main determinants for no return to work and so, a special attention should be given to this particular group of stroke survivors. Vocational and social support after stroke is highly needed to help in the reintegration of a professionally active life. Cancer-related pain (CrP) is a significant public health problem, and opioids are the mainstay of CrP treatment. Considering the persistent problem of inadequate treatment of cancer pain in Turkey, the study was conducted to determine the prevalence of reluctance to prescribe opioids among physicians in oncology departments. The descriptive cross-sectional study included oncology residents and residents without oncology specialization in oncology departments. One thousand physicians were invited by e-mail to the Google Forms survey platform. Two hundred and seventy-eight physicians completed the survey and were included, of which 50% (n: 139) were female. More than half (n: 166; 59.7%) of them were oncology subspecialists. The prevalence of reluctance to prescribe opioids was calculated to be 38.1% (n: 106). A significant positive association was found between the factor associated with reluctance to prescribe opioids and fear of opioid use disorder (β = 0.964; 95% CI = 0.362–1.566; p =.002). Reluctance to prescribe opioids was inversely related to the oncology subspecialty (β = −0.878; 95% CI = −1.54 to −0.213; p = 0.010) and education about CrP and opioid management (β = −1.707; 95% CI = −2.404 to −1.009; p = 0.01). To gather preliminary reference data on older normal-hearing (NH) adults for the refined Tracking of Noise Tolerance (TNT) test. Within-subject repeated measures. Participants were tested on the TNT in the sound-field and under headphones. In the sound-field, speech stimuli were presented at 75 dB SPL and 82 dB SPL from 0° with a speech-shaped noise presented either from 0° or 180° at a level controlled by the participants. The order of signal level, mode of presentation, noise azimuth, and TNT passages were counterbalanced across listeners. Testing was repeated for one condition after 1–3 weeks to estimate within-session and between-session reliability. Twenty-five NH listeners (51–82 yrs of age). Mean TNT scores (TNTAve) were about 4 dB at a speech input of 75 dB SPL and 3 dB at 82 dB SPL. The TNTAve was similar between the headphone and sound-field presentations in the co-located noise. TNTAve scores measured with noise-back were about 1 dB better than those measured from the front. The 95% confidence intervals of absolute test-retest differences were about 1.2 dB within-session and 2.0 dB between sessions. (1) To validate the measurement of foam-tip real-ear-to-coupler differences (wRECD) using an integrated pressure level (IPL) method and (2) to compare the reliability of this method to SPL-based measurement of the wRECD. SPL-based wRECD and the proposed IPL wRECD measurement were completed bilaterally. Test-retest reliability of IPL wRECD was determined with full re-insertion into the ear canal and compared to published SPL wRECD test-retest data. 22 adults with normal hearing and middle ear status were recruited. Differences between SPL-based wRECD and IPL wRECD measurements were within 1.51 dB on average below 5000 Hz. At and above 5000 Hz, IPL wRECD exceeded SPL wRECDs by 6.11 dB on average. The average test-retest difference for IPL wRECD across all assessed frequencies was 0.75 dB with the greatest improvements in reliability found below 750 Hz and above 3000 Hz. IPL wRECD yielded improved estimates compared to SPL wRECD in high frequencies, where standing-wave interference is present. Independence from standing wave interference resulted in increased wRECD values above 4000 Hz using the IPL measurement paradigm. IPL wRECD is more reliable than SPL wRECD, does not require precise probe-microphone placement, and provides a wider valid wRECD bandwidth than SPL-based measurement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To investigate whether the association between hearing difficulties and self-reported memory problems is mediated by physical health and psychosocial wellbeing. A cross-sectional study. Path analyses were used to test potential theoretical models (psychosocial-cascade, common cause) of the association between hearing difficulties and memory problems, adjusting for age. A sample of 479 adults (18–87 years) completed self-reported outcome measures. Half the participants reported clinically significant hearing difficulties and 30% self-reported memory problems. In the direct model, reporting hearing difficulties was associated with a greater likelihood of reporting memory problems (β = 0.17, p = 0.007, 95% Confidence Intervals [CI] = 0.00, 0.01). Hearing difficulties were also associated with poorer physical health, but this did not mediate the association with memory. Psychosocial factors, however, fully mediated the relationship between hearing difficulties and memory problems (β = 0.03, p = 0.019, 95% CI = 0.00, 0.01). Adults with hearing difficulties may be more likely to self-report memory problems, irrespective of age. This study supports the psychosocial-cascade model, as the association between self-reported hearing and memory problems was explained entirely by psychosocial factors. Future studies should investigate these associations using behavioural measures, as well as explore whether interventions can reduce the risk of developing memory problems in this population. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) confer considerable risk for negative outcomes across the lifespan, but there is limited research examining whether the measurement of ACEs can be interpreted the same way across diverse groups of individuals. In particular, the measurement of ACEs among early child education teachers has received little attention. Given that millions of children receive care from early child education teachers, and evidence that ACEs can severely disrupt teacher's abilities to support young children, it is critical to accurately assess for and respond to teacher ACEs. The present study examined the factor structure and measurement invariance of the 11-item Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) version of the ACEs measure across a diverse group of teachers. Data were collected from 605 teachers in a southeastern state between 2018 and 2021. Teachers ranged in age from 18 to 81 years (35% young; 56% middle; and 9% older adults) and were diverse across race (46% White; 53% Black). Teachers completed the BRFSS version of the ACEs measure and a demographics questionnaire. Factor analyses replicated the theorized three-factor solution, with household dysfunction, emotional/psychological abuse, and sexual abuse emerging as distinct factors. Multigroup confirmatory factor analyses demonstrated measurement invariance across teacher age and race. Comparisons of scores indicated ACEs levels varied across teacher age and race. Overall, findings suggest the BRFSS version of the ACEs measure can be used to assess adverse childhood experiences across diverse groups of early child education teachers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Childhood trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are risk factors for emotional distress from trauma-related research participation. The role of dissociation, however, has not been investigated. This study examined the mediation effect of dissociation and PTSD on the relationship between childhood trauma and distress in trauma studies. Pooled data of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Impact of Events Scale-Revised, Dissociative Experiences Scale-Taxon, and Trauma Antecedents Questionnaire from 231 psychiatric patients (73% diagnosed with psychotic illnesses) at a psychiatric clinic in South Korea were analysed. We performed multiple mediation effect analysis to verify a structural model for distress in trauma-related questionnaires. Thirteen percent of participants reported distress after the survey. In the structural equation, the symptoms of PTSD did not show a significant relationship (p =.064). When the two parameters were included in the model, it was found that the direct effect of childhood trauma on distress was not significant (p =.43), but dissociation showed a direct effect on distress (p <.001). Childhood trauma affects distress through the sequential mediating effect of PTSD symptoms and dissociation. Fear of relapse into psychosis is an independent risk factor for future relapse events, indicating its importance as a novel intervention target. Twenty-five participants responded to daily ecological momentary assessment prompts assessing common early warning signs of relapse and self-reported positive experiences like feeling supported by others. We conducted multilevel vector auto-regression using common symptoms assessed in early warning signs monitoring relapse prevention while controlling for positive self-reported experiences like feeling supported by others to estimate three networks (to explore concurrent, temporal and overall relationships). Reporting fear of relapse was positively associated (within the same cross-sectional time window) with hearing voices, alongside anxiety, negative affect and sleep change. Fear of relapse appeared to predict anxiety, negative affect and greater fear of relapse on the next consecutive day. However, none of the typical early warning signs predicted fear of relapse within the temporal window, and the observed relationships were small. Early warning signs appeared to be poor predictors of experiencing fear of relapse in this study. The long-term outcome of thiopurine therapy in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) enrolled in prospective trials have not been evaluated. We aimed to assess the effects of optimised thiopurine maintenance therapy for UC. Long-term data were obtained from patients from our center enrolled in two randomised, prospective, open-label, controlled studies comprising 66 thiopurine-naïve moderate-to-severe patients with UC consisting of a low dose azathioprine (AZA)/allopurinol combination or AZA monotherapy. Following the randomised trials, treatment was adjusted according to adverse effects and metabolites. Patients requiring optimisation initially on AZA monotherapy treatment were switched to low dose AZA in combination with allopurinol, low dose 6-mercaptopurin in combination with allopurinol, or 6-mercaptopurin treatment alone, and those treated with low dose AZA in combination with allopurinol were switched to low dose 6-mercaptopurin in combination with allopurinol or 6-mercaptopurin alone. A total of 62 patients were included in the analysis; 31 were initially treated with AZA monotherapy and 31 with low dose AZA in combination with allopurinol. Initial treatment was tolerated by 67% patients (7 AZA monotherapy and 28 low dose AZA in combination with allopurinol), increasing to 94% (58 patients) post-adjustment. After a median 52-month follow-up period, 38 (93%) out of the 41 primary responding patients-maintained clinical remission without steroids, biologics or surgery. The four intolerant patients and the 17 not responding to optimisation were more likely to require colectomy (odds ratio 16.36; 95% confidence interval 3.08–87.03, p < 0.0001). Depression often coexists with many chronic diseases. However, previous studies mainly focused on the association between a single chronic disease or chronic diseases of the elderly and depression. This study included 26,177 adults aged more than 20 years old from the 2007–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Depression was determined by nine questions which were from the Patient Health Questionnaire. We used propensity score matching to reduce the influence of confounders between the depression and non-depression groups. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between various chronic diseases and the number of diseases and depression. The prevalence of depression in participants with chronic diseases was higher than that in participants without chronic diseases, 20.8% of participants with chronic bronchitis had depression. After matching and controlling sleep, insurance and smoking, the highest risk of depression (OR = 1.524; 95% CI: 1.162–2.001) was found in people with stroke, followed by arthritis (OR = 1.464; 95% CI: 1.275–1.681). The percentage of participants with two or more chronic diseases with depression and without depression was 68.9% and 51.9%, respectively. Participants with five or more chronic diseases had the highest risk of depression (OR = 3.653; 95% CI: 3.001–4.446). In conclusion, patients with chronic diseases are at higher risk for depression, especially those with multiple chronic diseases. The attachment to mobile devices during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the possibility of increased nomophobia, which is the intense fear of losing access to one's mobile device. Therefore, this study aimed to determine if nomophobia was independently associated with suicidality before and during the COVID-19 pandemic among university students in Malaysia. This cross-sectional study had two-time points in data collection: one year before and one year into the COVID-19 pandemic. N = 806 university students aged ≥ 18 years completed an online questionnaire comprising the Nomophobia Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and the Suicidal Behaviors Questionnaire-Revised. A multiple logistic regression (controlling for gender, age, and social support) was conducted to determine the association between nomophobia and suicidality before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The prevalence of severe nomophobia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic was 15.7% and 35.6% respectively. The level of nomophobia was significantly higher during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to pre-pandemic. Pre-pandemic, there were no significant associations. During the pandemic, participants with moderate (aOR 3.09, 95% CI [1.14–8.40], p =.027) and severe (aOR 3.57, 95% CI [1.25–10.20], p =.018) nomophobia had higher odds of suicide plan. During the pandemic, moderate and severe nomophobia were independently associated with more than three times higher odds for a lifetime suicide plan. To assess the effects of a group class physical exercise program on health-related quality of life (HRQOL), physical fitness and activity, and safety in early breast cancer women after treatment, a double-phase trial [16-week control phase (CP) followed by a 16-week intervention phase (IP)] was designed. Outcomes were evaluated at baseline (T1), 8 (T2) and 16 (T3) weeks (CP), and 24 (T4) and 32 (T5) weeks (IP). The primary endpoint was global health status. Out of 82 enrolled patients, 37 completed the IP. Global health status decreased (−10,1; 95% CI −19.8 to −0.4; p = 0.040) during the CP and stabilized during the IP. Physical and sexual functioning increased during the IP (p = 0.008; p = 0.017), while cardiorespiratory fitness increased in the CP (p = 0.004). Upper limb strength and lower limb functionality increased during both phases [CP: p < 0.0001, p = 0.001 (surgical and nonsurgical arm), p = 0.028; IP: p < 0.0001, p = 0.002, p = 0.009]. Body mass index decreased in the IP (p = 0.026). Waist circumference increased in the CP (p = 0.001) and decreased in the IP (p = 0.010); sedentary behaviours and moderate and vigorous physical activity did not change. Adherence to 70% of the sessions was reported in 54% of patients. No serious adverse events related to the intervention were reported. In conclusion, the physical exercise program was able to prevent the decline in global health status and to improve other domains of HRQOL and physical fitness. The link between pain severity, depressive symptomatology and catastrophizing among women with endometriosis is still under-investigated. The aim of this study was to (i) evaluate differences in depressive symptomatology between women with and without endometriosis; (ii) investigate if pain severity is associated with depressive symptoms; and (iii) test if catastrophizing moderates the link between these two variables. A total of 172 women with a diagnosis of endometriosis and 62 healthy controls volunteered for this cross-sectional study. Depressive symptomatology, pain severity, and catastrophizing were assessed. Compared to healthy controls, women with endometriosis were more likely to score above the cutoff for depressive symptomatology, with 60.5% of the latter being classified as having a subthreshold depression or minor depression and 15.7% as having moderate or severe major depression. Pain severity was significantly associated with depressive symptoms even after controlling for several covariates. Finally, the moderation model suggested that among patients with endometriosis, the relationship between pain severity and depressive symptomatology depended on the level of catastrophizing, with this association being stronger for high levels of the moderator. Mental health practitioners working with women with endometriosis may consider those who report high levels of pain severity and of catastrophizing at high risk of depression and are advised to promote adaptive coping strategies among patients to foster a better adaptation to this chronic disease [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is a dearth of scientific knowledge regarding suicidal ideation (SI) and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in Haiti. We conducted a community survey with a convenience sample of 673 residents from Haiti's Cité Soleil (January - June 2021) to address these gaps. Participants answered questions on SI, on ACEs from the ACE international questionnaire (ACE-IQ) section 5 abuse-related items, on adult experiences of non-partner sexual violence, on use of alcohol to manage stress and on trauma responses. Latent Class Analysis identified a five-class-model of poly-victimization ranging from Class 1 (no abuse) to Class 5 (combination of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse). SI prevalence was 65.3%. Women were nearly twice as likely as men to report SI (95% CI = 1.08–2.74). Class 1 comprised 25% of participants. Class 5 members were almost four times more likely to endorse SI than Class 1 members (95% CI = 1.52–9.10). Class 4 members were roughly four times more likely to endorse SI than Class 1 members. (95% CL = 1.83–7.81). Class 3 members were nearly twice as likely to endorse SI as Class 1 members (95% CI = 1.03–3.35). Participant survivors of NPSV were three times more likely to report SI than non-victims (95% CI = 1.61–5.67). Alcohol use to manage stress increased odds of SI by 1.59 (95% CI = 1.01–2.52). Hypervigilance increased the odds of SI by 3.21 (95% CI = 1.84–5.58). Limitations include recall bias, non-generalizability, use of self-reported data, and ACE-IQ's limitations. There is a dearth of psychological interventions for self-harm that have been tested and found acceptable by youth in low- and middle income countries. ĀTMAN (Sanskrit word meaning "self" or "self-existent essence") is one such contextually adapted psychological intervention developed in India. It has three key elements; problem-solving, emotion regulation, and social network strengthening skills. We delivered ATMAN in a series of young people who self-harm to optimize the content, structure and delivery mechanisms, and to assess their experiences of therapy and engagement. ATMAN was delivered sequentially by a psychiatrist and non-specialist counselor in 16 participants between 14 to 24 years who presented to a tertiary level public hospital in Mumbai with self-harm. Quantitative measurement tools included Beck's Scale for Suicidal Ideation (BSI), the Patient Health Questionnaire −9 (PHQ-9), Functional Assessment of Self-Mutilation, and session feedback form. Qualitative tools included PSYCHLOPS and exit interviews. Eight female and four male participants completed therapy with a mean of five sessions and an average duration of 50 min. There were no differences in module wise feedback ratings of the psychiatrist and counselor. There were significant differences in the pre- and post-therapy scores on BSI (mean difference (confidence interval)) (−16.8 (−20.2, −13.3)) and PHQ-9 (−10.8 (−14.5, −7.04)). Various content modifications were undertaken during this phase. ATMAN was acceptable to youth in India who self-harm. Modifications introduced during pilot trial phase make ATMAN better suited to the needs of the youth. ATMAN has the potential to be delivered by non- specialist counselors and to be integrated at all levels of health care settings including primary health care to reduce the burden of suicide in young people. However, an extended randomized controlled trial of ATMAN treatment with multiple counselors will help in identifying key competencies that should be developed during training and supervision, and various quality assurance measures that can be undertaken for effective implementation of ATMAN. This article describes data on the gender distribution of mental health disorders among adolescents of Togo, West Africa. The sample size of this study included 242 patients. Gender and mental health disorders according to the definition of International Classification of Disease, tenth revision (ICD-10) were considered. Females were significantly more likely to develop a mental health disorder than males (61.16% vs 38.84% of the sample), and females were significantly 3 times more likely to develop Somatoform Disorders- Other Neurotic Disorders compared to males. The study's aims were to examine whether the COVID-19 pandemic was associated with increases in depression levels of 21 months postpartum women who were initially sampled before the pandemic and whether COVID-19-related worries mediated the association between women's attachment orientations and this hypothesized increase. Participants comprised 185 postpartum women sampled in the maternity ward of a tertiary healthcare center in Israel followed from childbirth to 21 months postpartum in four-time points.. We analyzed demographic and obstetric information and the Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR) scale at T1; changes in the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) levels at all timepoints (T1-4); and COVID-19-related worries at T4. Results showed a significant increase in depression levels at T4 compared to T2 and T3, and an increase in the prevalence of women at the lower clinical EPDS threshold. COVID-19-related worries mediated the association between anxious attachment and depression (indirect effect: B =.21, p <.05, 95% CI = (.015,.47), R2=0.12). The evident effect of COVID-19 on postpartum depression is associated with variability between people. Epidural analgesia alleviates pain during normal labour but women who undergo medical abortion procedures using epidural analgesia continue to express high pain levels. To understand this we assessed if patients undergoing medical abortions, treated with epidural analgesia, use their pain for psychological benefits. This study comprised 105 patients over 13 weeks of gestational age diagnosed with foetal abnormalities after selecting a medical abortion procedure using epidural analgesia. Three questionnaires were handed-out: 1) 'Need for Affect', assessed the motivation to react to emotions; 2) 'Pain-Levels' 3) PANA- 'Positive Affect' (PA), 'Negative Affect' (NA) assessed emotions pre-abortion and post-abortion. Patients with a strong Need for Affect and high Pain-Levels expressed a stronger PA post-abortion (b =.69, se =.11, β =.68, p <.001, 95%CI [.48,.90]). Patients with a strong NA pre-abortion and high Pain-Levels expressed a higher NA post-abortion (b =.48, se =.11, β =.53, p <.001, 95%CI [.26,.70]). Patients with a strong Need for Affect who express a strong PA pre-abortion intensify their pain to fulfill their Need for Affect, which then helps recovery. To translate, cross-culturally adapt, and psychometric testing the Western Ontario Shoulder Instability index (WOSI) into Persian Seventy-two patients diagnosed with shoulder instability participated in reliability, construct validity, and responsiveness analysis. All the patients filled out the WOSI with an interval of two weeks to assess reliability. The shortened Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (Quick-DASH), Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), and the 36-Item Short-Form Survey (SF-36) were assessed to evaluate construct validity. In order to assess responsiveness patients filled out WOSI before and after the physiotherapy and global rating of change scale at last session of physiotherapy. Reliability was assessed by intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC (1,2)), construct validity by two tailed Pearson (r), and responsiveness by longitudinal validity and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis. The ICC (1,2) was 0.90 and correlation analysis revealed high level of correlation with: Quick-DASH (r = 0.82); SPADI (r = 0.72); physical SF-36 (r = −0.52); and mental SF-36 (r = −0.48). Responsiveness analysis demonstrated the area under curve was 0.90, with minimal clinical important difference 46.87. The relationship between chronic pain and the occurrence of falls in healthy older adults has been clarified in previous studies, but its relationship in older adults with disabilities has not. This study aimed to determine whether chronic pain is related to the occurrence of falls in older adults with disabilities. The participants were 101 older adults above 65 years old who used long-term care insurance services in Japan. Of these, 30 were fallers and 71 were non-fallers. Chronic pain, defined as pain lasting more than three months, was assessed using questionnaires, and the falls' occurrence was followed up for six months using a fall calendar. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the data, with falls as the dependent variable, chronic pain as the independent variable, and age, sex, body mass index, number of drugs, sleep disorders, and depression as covariates. After adjusting for covariates, chronic pain significantly influenced the occurrence of falls (odds ratio: 3.168, 95% confidence interval: 1.057–9.495, p =.04). Chronic pain was related to the occurrence of falls in older adults with disabilities. There is a need to focus on chronic pain presence in falls' prevention among older adults with disabilities. Chronic traumatic neck pain has a high prevalence of post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). However, whether PTSS moderates treatment effects is unknown. This study investigated: 1) whether PTSS was associated with patient-reported outcomes and clinical test results at baseline; 2) whether PTSS moderated the effect of a multimodal physiotherapy intervention of exercise therapy and patient education; and 3) whether adherence to the intervention differed across PTSS groups. Secondary data analysis from a randomized controlled trial on chronic neck pain with 12-month follow-up was conducted. Patients were divided into three groups (NT = non-traumatic, LT = traumatic low PTSS, HT = traumatic high PTSS) based on self-reported onset of pain and the Impact of Event Scale. The baseline data were used to analyze the association of PTSS with patient demographics and scores of physical and mental health-related quality of life, depression, neck-related disability, kinesiophobia, and clinical tests. Baseline, 4-month and 12-month follow-up data were analyzed to investigate possible moderating effects on outcomes. Data on adherence were collected at four months. 115 participants were included (NT n = 45; LT n = 46; HT n = 24). The HT group reported lower mental health scores and more depressive symptoms at baseline. PTSS did not significantly moderate the treatment effect on any outcomes. The HT group tended to have lower adherence to the multimodal physiotherapy intervention than the LT group. For patients with traumatic neck pain, high levels of PTSS are associated with poorer psychological outcomes but do not affect the outcomes of multimodal physiotherapy intervention. Women with breast cancer who underwent taxane-based chemotherapy demonstrate diminished postural stability. However, the data concerning dynamic postural stability among women with breast cancer during taxane-based chemotherapy remains insufficient. To investigate postural stability among women with breast cancer during taxane-based chemotherapy. Fifteen women with breast cancer participated in this study. Postural stabilities were assessed at five intervals during the course of chemotherapy treatment. Static postural stability was measured during single leg with eyes open (SEO) and eyes closed (SEC) conditions, while dynamic postural stability was measured during performance of the limit of stability test (LOS). Postural stability was described using 95% confidence ellipse area (EA), center of pressure (COP) path length (PL), and COP average velocity (AV). For static postural stability assessment, SEO condition was found to have significant increases in EA, PL, and AV (p =.001, p <.001, and p =.02, respectively). For dynamic postural stability assessment, a significant difference in EA was observed in the forward, backward, right, and left directions (p =.02, p =.02, p <.001, and p =.01, respectively). In addition, a significant difference in PL was found while performing in a backward direction (p =.02). Walking speed is an important clinical tool in the physical therapy examination of older adults, but not always feasible to measure. Clinicians may be limited by space, a client's functional limitations, or use of telehealth. The Walking Speed Questionnaire (WSQ) can be used to estimate walking speed, but the effects of testing protocols on the accuracy and diagnostic capability of the WSQ have not yet been investigated The purposes of this study were to compare estimated with recorded walking speed and examine effects of start condition and instructions in healthy older adults. One hundred community dwelling adults 60 years or older were tested. After completing the WSQ, participants performed two trials of six walking conditions that included standing and walking starts under instructions to "walk at a usual pace," "as if crossing a street," and "fast." Participants averaged 72.4 (9.6) years of age. The WSQ average walking speed was 1.22 (0.16) m/s and was slower than each condition, p-value = 0.001, except for those performed with instructions to walk at usual pace with both standing, 1.23 (0.29) m/s and walking starts, 1.26 (0.30) m/s. Compared to the usual pace walking start condition, the WSQ sensitivity and specificity were 31% and 94% respectively with an 82% accuracy. A modified cutoff of the WSQ to 1.17 m/s improves sensitivity If walking testing cannot be performed, the WSQ is a reasonable alternative providing an accurate estimate of a client's walking speed when walking at a usual pace. Occupational self-efficacy is a stable predictor for professionals' motivation to engage with new methods and tasks. Yet, the delivery of tele-physiotherapy (Tele-PT) by physiotherapists (PTs) during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak without advance training may have had the potential to increase work stress and damage their motivation, regardless of their occupational self-efficacy. The present study examined whether the relations between PTs' overall occupational self-efficacy and motivation to provide Tele-PT was mediated by role stress (i.e. role conflict and ambiguity). Between February 4 and April 23, 2021, 150 Israeli PTs completed an online survey that measured their overall occupational self-efficacy, their role stress induced by the provision of Tele-PT, their motivation to provide Tele-PT, and their demographic characteristics. PTs' overall occupational self-efficacy was positively associated with PTs' motivation to provide Tele-PT (r= 0.328, p <.01) and fully mediated by role conflict (0.1757, 95% CI = [0.0231, 0.3797]) and by role ambiguity (0.1845, 95% CI = [0.0196, 0.4184]) (components of role stress) caused by the provision of Tele-PT. It is important to investigate the predictors and mediators of the motivation to provide Tele-PT because in the post-COVID-19 era health organizations are likely to adopt many tele-medicine services, and they need to find ways to mitigate perceived challenges. Patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) often present with dyspnea, fatigue, and desaturation. These symptoms can be highly limiting, as they lead to a decrease in performing activities of daily living (ADL). Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the degree of functional limitation of these individuals. The present study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Glittre-ADL test (TGlittre) and its association with self-reported limitation in ADL and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with IPF. Twenty-seven individuals with IPF (60.5 ± 10.6 years), with forced vital capacity 2.26 ± 1.03 L (51.09 ± 20.62% of predicted) were assessed for the time spent in TGlittre, 6-minute walking distance (6MWD), limitation in ADL and HRQoL. TGlittre was reliable (intraclass correlation coefficient3,1 = 0.96; P <.001); however, a learning effect of 10.6% was observed between the first and second execution of TGlittre. The time spent in TGlittre correlated with 6MWD, limitation in ADL, and disease-specific HRQoL (P <.05). TGlittre is valid and reliable for assessing functional capacity in patients with IPF. We examined post-concussion symptom presentation, exercise, and sleep among pediatric athletes who sustained concussion during the school year vs. summer months. We evaluated athletes 6–18 years old within 21-days of concussion. They reported symptoms (Health and Behavior Inventory), with cognitive/somatic domain sub-scores calculated, and indicated if they had exercised or experienced sleep problems since injury. We grouped patients by injury season: summer months (June–August) vs. school year (September–May). 350 patients (14.4 ± 2.4 years old; 37% female; initial visit 8.8 ± 5.3 days post-concussion) were seen for care: 24% sustained a concussion during summer months, 76% during the school year. Lower cognitive (median = 7 [IQR = 1, 15] vs. 9.5 [4, 17]; p = 0.01), but not somatic (7 [2.5, 11] vs. 8 [4, 13]; p = 0.06), HBI scores were observed for patients injured during the summer. Groups were similar in proportion exercising (16% vs 17%) and endorsing sleep problems (29% vs 31%). After adjustments, sustaining a concussion during the summer predicted total (β=-3.43; 95%CI = −6.50, −0.36; p = 0.029) and cognitive (β = -2.29; 95%CI = −4.22, −0.36; p = 0.02), but not somatic (β=-1.46; 95%CI = −2.84, −0.08; p = 0.04), symptom severity. Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) can cause persistent symptoms suggestive of oculomotor deficits. This research synthesized evidence on restitutive interventions for reducing oculomotor deficits in adults with mTBI to understand if these interventions have clinical utility for improving recovery. Medline, EMBASE, CINHAL, PsychInfo, and Scopus, databases were searched for experimental studies published in English. We rated risk of bias (RoB) using recommended tools, and the certainty of the evidence according to GRADE guidelines. We conducted meta-analyses for similar outcomes reported in at least two studies. Out of 5,328 citations, 12 studies (seven case series and five crossover design), with a combined sample size of 354 participants; (43% males) met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. The analysis revealed a trend toward improvement of oculomotor deficits and visual tasks in response to restitutive intervention. None of the studies addressed sex or gender effects. All studies had high RoB, suggesting low certainty in the reported results. Restitutive interventions may be beneficial for adults with oculomotor deficits after mTBI, however overall certainty of the evidence remains low. Internalising disorders are one of the most common mental health problems in children under 12 years, yet mixed findings exist for current treatment options. This pilot involves a novel 10-session intervention, BEST-Foundations, to treat internalising symptoms in children using a family-inclusive model. Initial findings and feasibility using a mixed-methods approach are reported. Twenty-two participants from eight families (n = 8 children; n = 8 mothers; n = 6 fathers) participated in an uncontrolled single treatment design. Included children (aged 3–11 years) reported clinical-level internalising symptoms on the Child Behaviour Checklist. Data were collected across four timepoints: baseline, pre-intervention, post-intervention, and 4-weeks follow-up. As predicted, mothers reported large improvements in child internalising symptoms pre-post (SMD = −.83; 95% CI = 50.58–70.42) and maintained pre to follow-up (SMD = −.92; 95% CI = 50.14–69.11). Sustained improvements were also found in externalising problems and total problems. Qualitative analysis indicated families reported positive improvements in targeted areas including parent confidence and parent–child relationships. Findings demonstrate initial feasibility data and effect size estimates comparable to previous trials using the "BEST" framework, and larger than CBT-based interventions. Results are considered preliminary due to the small sample. Further evaluation is warranted, showing the value of family-inclusive interventions to treat child internalising problems. In this study, in order to do a life testing experiment, sampled units are divided into a prefixed number of groups with equal number of units. Units in all the groups are tested simultaneously and independently and, in each group the experiment is terminated as soon as a prefixed time elapses or a prefixed number of failures occurs. We provide the meta-analysis of an exponential lifetime data from Type-I hybrid censored samples. The main goal of this study is to obtain optimal schemes based on some optimality criteria by minimizing certain cost function that is based on a maximum likelihood estimator of mean lifetime. We provide the maximum likelihood estimator of mean lifetime and its probability density function under this set-up. Various optimal schemes have been provided by minimizing expected total cost incurred during the experiment as the raw moments can be obtained explicitly. Numerical results on bias and mean squared error of the maximum likelihood estimator have been reported. We also provide confidence intervals of the unknown parameter. A smoothed bootstrap method is introduced for right-censored data based on the right-censoring-A(n) assumption introduced by Coolen and Yan, which is a generalization of Hill's A(n) assumption for right-censored data. The smoothed bootstrap method is compared to Efron's method for right-censored data through simulations. The comparison is conducted in terms of the coverage of percentile confidence intervals for the quartiles. From the study, it is found that the smoothed bootstrap method mostly performs better than Efron's method, in particular for small data sets. The sexual imagination hypothesis predicts that gender differences in jealousy emerge from the differences in explicit imagination between men and women. In particular, men strongly respond to partners' sexual infidelity because they can imagine sexual stimuli explicitly. In contrast, women strongly respond to emotional infidelity because they can effortlessly envision emotional infidelity. We hypothesised that higher sexual and romantic imaginations were associated with greater distress over partners' sexual and emotional infidelity, respectively. Participants (226 women and 135 men) answered questions regarding experiences with personal sexual and emotional infidelity and the degree of distress they felt over their partners' sexual and emotional infidelity. They completed the scales for sexual and romantic imaginations. Multiple regression analyses showed that the sexual imagination hypothesis provided a unique explanation for gender differences in jealousy beyond the effects of gender, including relationship experience and experiences with personal sexual and emotional infidelity. Additionally, individuals with relationship experience and experiences with personal sexual and emotional infidelity reported higher sexual and romantic imaginations than those without such experiences. Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is unrelenting. As neither rest nor sleep ameliorates cognitive, emotional, and physical symptoms, quality of life is diminished. This study examines resistance training (RT) effectiveness on CRF in cancer survivors. The secondary aims were to identify the dose-response relationship of RT frequency, intensity, and volume on CRF in different cancer survivor populations. Systematic searches via numerous databases for RCTs were performed in June 2022. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROM), were analysed, pre-to-post intervention, using a random-effects model. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale informed methodological quality assessment. Eight studies were included (cancer survivors: breast (BCS) = 5; endometrial (ECS) = 1; prostate (PCS) = 2). Overall, RT interventions ≥ 6 weeks elicited large significant reductions in CRF for FACIT-F (SMD = 0.932, p = <0.001) and moderate significant reductions in CRF for PFS-R (SMD = −0.622, p = 0.004). Main findings indicate that RT ameliorates CRF, especially in BCS; however, individualised approaches should be advocated. Supervised training elicited the greatest positive outcomes, thus should be a pivotal part of the cancer rehabilitation pathway. Future studies should be adequately powered, undertake discrete analyses of different cancer types, and investigate chronic RT effects. To synthesize common or differing perceptions of patients' and clinicians' that influence uptake of online-delivered exercise programmes (ODEPs) for chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Eight databases were searched from inception to April 2023 for studies including (1) patients with and/or clinicians delivering ODEPs for chronic MSK conditions, and (2) synchronous ODEPs, where information is exchanged simultaneously (mode A); asynchronous ODEPs, with at least one synchronous feature (mode B); or no ODEPs, documenting past experiences and/or likelihood of participating in an ODEP (mode C). Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklists were used to assess study quality. Perceptions of patients' and clinicians' influencing uptake of ODEPs were extracted. Quantitative and qualitative data were synthesised and integrated. Twenty-one studies were included (twelve quantitative, seven qualitative, and two mixed-methods) investigating the perceptions of 1275 patients and 534 clinicians on ODEP mode A (n = 7), mode B (n = 8), and mode C (n = 6). Sixteen of the 23 identified perceptions related to satisfaction, acceptability, usability, and effectiveness were common, with 70% of perceptions facilitating uptake and 30% hindering uptake. Findings highlight the need to promote targeted education for patients and clinicians addressing interconnected perceptions, and to develop evidence-based perception-centred strategies encouraging integrated care and guideline-based management of chronic MSK conditions. Almost 70% of perceptions related to satisfaction, acceptability, usability, and effectiveness that influence the uptake of online-delivered exercise programmes for chronic musculoskeletal conditions are shared by patients and clinicians. Patient perceptions that differ from clinicians and that hinder uptake include the risk of misdiagnosis, lack of social support, and advice from their clinic and/or clinician. Clinician perceptions that differ from patients and that hinder uptake include risk of last-minute appointment cancellations, the cost to set-up, and limitations of camera angles. Continual illness uncertainty can affect how people perceive and interpret their well-being. Some cognitive and spiritual factors may be involved in the management of disruptive thoughts and emotions that can emerge during the experience of cancer. An evidence-based integrative model was developed to evaluate and show the role that mindfulness, acceptance, self-efficacy, uncertainty, meaning, and purpose in life play in the self-perception of well-being in individuals with cancer. This evidence-based integrative model was conducted using relevant and selected studies. An integrative model for self-perception of well-being has been proposed. This model integrates evidence-based findings and provides clear principles for clinicians and researchers. This integrative model proposes that mindfulness, acceptance, self-efficacy perception, and uncertainty can predict how people with cancer perceive their well-being. The model also posits that meaning and purpose in life can act as mediators or moderators of this prediction. This integrative model involves the multidimensionality of human beings and facilitates the understanding of some key factors for the design of therapeutic approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy or Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy. Mindfulness, acceptance, self-efficacy, uncertainty, meaning, and purpose in life can be highly relevant for clinical oncology. An integrative model is proposed to understand the combined influence of these factors on patients with cancer. This model may favor a better integration of well-known interventions, such as Mindfulness-based approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy (MCP). We aimed to investigate health care needs, health service utilization, and their socio-economic and health-related determinants in people with spinal cord injury (SCI) living in Jiangsu and Sichuan Provinces of China. A total of 1355 participants with SCI living in the community were recruited using a multi-stage stratified random sample and surveyed by telephone or online. Outcomes evaluated included the presence of health care needs, mode of health service utilization, and specific provider types seen within 12 months preceding the survey. The prevalence of healthcare needs was 92%. Needs were higher in Sichuan (98%) as compared to Jiangsu (80%). Of those in need of health care, 38% reported not having utilized care, more in Sichuan (39%) than in Jiangsu (37%). In Jiangsu, inpatient care was more often used than in Sichuan (46% vs. 27%), while in Sichuan outpatient services were utilized more often (33% vs. 17%). On average, 1.6 provider types were seen, with Sichuan reporting fewer different provider types. Considerable differences in the prevalence of health care needs and service utilization patterns were found between provinces, mostly in favour of the economically more developed Jiangsu Province. People with low income, particularly those below the World Bank poverty line for middle-income countries, had increased health care needs but utilized health care less often. Moreover, environmental barriers contributed significantly to unmet health care needs. This implies the necessity to provide better accessible and more affordable rehabilitation services for people with spinal cord injury (SCI) in China such as community-based rehabilitation programming. Eligible patients were 12-26-weeks post-radiotherapy for brain cancer. The individually-prescribed weekly exercise was ≥150-minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, including two resistance-training sessions. The intervention was deemed "safe" if exercise-related, serious adverse events (SAE) were experienced by <10% of participants, and feasible if recruitment, retention, and adherence rates were ≥75%, and ≥75% compliance rates were achieved in ≥75% of weeks. Patient-reported and objectively-measured outcomes were assessed at baseline, mid-intervention, end-intervention, and 6-month follow-up, using generalized estimating equations. Twelve participants enrolled (51 ± 19.5 years, 5 females). There were no exercise-related SAEs. The intervention was feasible (recruitment:80%, retention:92%, adherence:83%). Participants completed a median of 172.8 (min:77.5, max:560.8) minutes of physical activity per week. 17% met the compliance outcome threshold for ≥75% of the intervention. Improvements in quality of life (mean change (95% CI): 7.9 units (1.9, 13.8)), functional well-being (4.3 units (1.4, 7.2)), depression (−2.0 units (−3.8, −0.2)), activity (112.8 min (42.1, 183.4)), fitness (56.4 meters (20.4, 92.5)), balance (4.9 s (0.9, 9.0)), and lower-body strength (15.2 kg (9.3, 21.1)) were observed end-intervention. Exercise prescription should be modified according to the presence and severity of disease- and treatment-related barriers. Brain injuries (traumatic-/nontraumatic, TBI/nTBI) in young patients may lead to problems e.g., decreased health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and causes family impact. Knowledge regarding the family impact and the relationship with patients' HRQoL over time is scarce. This follow-up study describes family impact/HRQoL and their mutual relationship in young patients (5–24 years) after TBI/nTBI. Parents of patients that were referred to outpatient rehabilitation completed the PedsQL™Family-Impact-Module questionnaire to assess the family impact and the parent-reported PedsQL™Generic-core-set-4.0 to assess patients' HRQoL (lower scores: more family impact/worse HRQoL). Questionnaires were completed at the time of referral to rehabilitation (baseline) and one/two years later (T1/T2). Linear-mixed models were used to examine family impact/HRQoL change scores, and repeated-measure correlations (r) to determine longitudinal relationships. Two-hundred-forty-six parents participated at baseline, 72 (at T2), median patient's age at baseline was 14 years (IQR:11–16), and 181 (74%) had TBI. Mean (SD) PedsQL™Family-Impact-Module score at baseline was 71.7 (SD:16.4) and PedsQL™Generic-core-set-4.0: 61.4 (SD:17.0). Over time, PedsQL™Family-Impact-Module scores remained stable, while PedsQL™Generic-core-set-4.0 scores improved significantly(p < 0.05). A moderately strong longitudinal correlation was found between family impact&HRQoL (r = 0.51). Family impact does not tend to decrease over time but remained a considerable problem, although patients' HRQoL improved. Next to focusing on patients' HRQoL, it remains important to consider family impact and offer family support throughout rehabilitation. This longitudinal study found that in young patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or non-traumatic brain injury (nTBI) referred for rehabilitation there is a considerable impact on the family until two years after referral, whereas the patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) improved significantly. Improvements in patients' quality of life status may not automatically lead to a decrease of family impact. Rehabilitation clinicians should monitor the impact on the family over time and provide long-term family support with special attention to parental worrying when needed. To verify the effectiveness of experimental occupational therapy plus intensive standard rehabilitation compared to intensive standard rehabilitation alone on the reintegration to social activities of complex patients three months after hospital discharge. Patients with a score ≥ 9 on the Rehabilitation Complexity Scale at admission to an intensive rehabilitation ward were randomized to the control or experimental group. Both groups received intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation aimed at recovering independence in the basic activities of daily life (ADL). The experimental group also received experimental occupational therapy services to address goals identified through the administration of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Experimental occupational therapy began during the in-hospital phase and continued in the home-based setting. It consisted of teaching strategies, recommending aids, and providing personalized information regarding available community support. Ninety-two individuals with a mean age of 65 years (female 44.6%) were enrolled. The experimental group significantly improved participation measured by the Reintegration to Normal Living Index (mean changes 8.61, 95% CI: 1–16.23, p = 0.027). The performance and satisfaction scores of the COPM, both during hospitalization and after discharge, and independence in ADL also improved. No differences in mood disturbances were found. Early post-discharge occupational therapy integrated with multidisciplinary rehabilitation improves the social participation of complex patients. Future research should investigate the concrete feasibility of implementing this complex intervention cost-effectively and in different contexts. Improving individuals' low-carbon awareness has become an important research topic. Gamification design is regarded as a potential IT solution to this social problem. Although much research is concerned with the effect of low-carbon awareness to improve individuals' behaviour, little attention has been paid to exploring how to improve low-carbon awareness, especially in the context of green gamification. To fill this research gap, our study uses the cognitive dissonance theory to build a theoretical model for exploring the impacts of green gamification factors on individuals' low-carbon awareness. The model is also used to explore the mediating role of cognitive dissonance and the moderating effect of emotional dependence. Empirical results reveal that visibility of achievement, competition, and interactivity have positive impacts on users' cognitive dissonance, which further positively affect users' low-carbon awareness. In addition, users' emotional dependence positively moderates the relationship between green gamification factors and users' cognitive dissonance. These results extend the cognitive dissonance theory and the literature on green gamification. Development of live shopping has introduced a new form of celebrity endorsement. This study examines the impact of negative news related to streamers on viewers' purchasing behaviour during live streaming, considering different types of negative news. Drawing on research related to celebrity endorsement and information dissemination, this study presents the results from one natural experiment and four lab experiments. The findings suggest that negative news about streamers, as well as their responses to such news, positively influence viewers' purchasing behaviour during live streaming, which is mediated by their visit to the live streaming. Furthermore, the study reveals that negative news related to streamers' personal behaviour has a more positive impact than negative news related to the product they are selling. The positive effect of response to negative news is weakened when the response seems to protect the wrongdoers. This study contributes to the development of endorsement theory, retests the model of the endorser effect, and expands the literature about celebrity scandals. Problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) may be the biggest non-drug addiction of the twenty-first century. This requires that sound – and possibly brief – measurement instruments are available, especially for adolescents, who are particularly at risk of PMPU. One of the most widely used short instruments to assess PMPU is the brief version of the Mobile Phone Problem Use Scale (MPPUS-10). However, its dimensional structure is unclear, and the growth of PMPU among youth requires deeply testing the MPPUS-10 psychometric functioning with adolescents. The goal of this study was to investigate the psychometric proprieties of the MPPUS-10 in Italian adolescents, by particularly focusing on dimensionality, and analysing reliability and validity. Participants were 678 adolescents attending high school. Through exploratory factor analyses, the bidimensionality of the MPPUS-10 was supported, and it was corroborated by a multi-group cross-validation analysis. The internal consistency of the scale was good. As regards validity, the MPPUS-10 total and subscale scores resulted to be significantly correlated with time spent on the mobile phone and craving for mobile phone, self-esteem, and with symptoms of problem gaming and Internet addiction. The use of sophisticated machines at the workplace – e.g. robots equipped with artificial intelligence – is on the rise. Since humans tend to experience a threat to human uniqueness in response to machines with human-like mental capabilities, I explored whether the same holds true for status threat, a well-researched variable in the interpersonal workplace literature. Across two experiments (N1 = 104, N2 = 589), humans felt higher status threat towards a robot (Experiment 1, laboratory study) and an artificial intelligence (Experiment 2, online study) that outperformed a human in verbal-creative tasks, requiring agency and experience to solve. Contrary to results from human-human literature, higher status threat was linked with higher willingness to interact with the machine, which I trace back to its high perceived usefulness. I further interpret my findings as a hint that humans are open to using modern-day technology if they assume to benefit from the advantages the technology brings to their own work and therefore accept the feeling of status threat at the same time. Phubbing—i.e. excluding and ignoring others through smartphone use—is a pervasive phenomenon. Yet, a comprehensive understanding of its consequences is still lacking. This systematic meta-analytic review aimed to (1) synthesize the associations between being phubbed and emotional and cognitive, social, and behavioural well-being, (2) test the strength of these associations, and (3) investigate moderating influences. Literature searches according to PRISMA-guidelines yielded k = 83 included studies. Random-effects meta-analyses were conducted for 24 of 72 extracted consequences. Subgroup analyses were performed for phubbees' relationship to interlocutors, age group, and study design. The overall sample was N = 53,916 with a mean age of 19.68 years. Being phubbed was moderately to strongly (e.g. $\hat{{\rm \rho }}$ ρ ˆ =.23–.75) associated with various adverse consequences (e.g. depression, relationship dissatisfaction, derogation of interlocutors, smartphone addiction). Effects were larger for adolescents than for adults. The findings are in line with existing theoretical assumptions (e.g. the temporal need-threat model of ostracism) corroborating that phubbing is a detrimental experience. Thus, phubbing appears to be a public health issue which should be addressed through suitable interventions in order to enhance healthy human-human and human-technology interactions. The researchers' aims for this preliminary study was to develop an instrument, guided by the Theory of Health-related Family Quality of Life, to measure health-related family quality of life (HR-FQoL) as perceived by women with cancer. The researchers used a two phase design for instrument development: (1) establishing face validity of a 38-item instrument with an expert panel and patient review, and (2) focusing on the internal structure and construct validity of the instrument with responses from female patients (N = 236) with a cancer diagnosis (breast, gynecologic). The researchers identified a final 25-item HR-FQoL instrument with four sub-scales that each captured multiple concepts within the Theory of HR-FQoL. Repeated visits to clinical trial sites inflict hardships on study participants, especially pregnant women. A newer trend is community-based follow-up for measurements, dosage, or monitoring, through technology or physical visits. We conducted a methodological experiment of performing "community-based physical follow-up" of participants of a trial, receiving facility-based diagnosis and pathogen-specific antibiotics for asymptomatic bacteriuria, guided by an optical-sensor-based rapid point-of-care test. We were able to retain 95.8% participants in the study. Here we describe challenges faced and socio-economic and gender issues encountered in this approach in a low-resource Indian scenario, to guide researchers world-wide for designing mother-friendly clinical trials. Emotion suppression may be linked to poor health outcomes through elevated stress-related physiology. The current meta-analyses investigate the magnitude of the association between suppression and physiological responses to active psychological stress tasks administered in the laboratory. Relevant articles were identified through Medline, PsychINFO, PubMed, and ProQuest. Studies were eligible if they (a) used a sample of healthy, human subjects; (b) assessed physiology during a resting baseline and active psychological stress task; and (c) measured self-report or experimentally manipulated suppression. Twenty-four studies were identified and grouped within two separate random effects meta-analyses based on study methodology, namely, manipulated suppression (k = 12) and/or self-report (k = 14). Experimentally manipulated suppression was associated with greater physiological stress reactivity compared to controls (Hg = 0.20, 95% CI [0.08, 0.33]), primarily driven by cardiac, hemodynamic, and neuroendocrine parameters. Self-report trait suppression was not associated with overall physiological stress reactivity but was associated with greater neuroendocrine reactivity (r = 0.08, 95% CI [0.01, 0.14]). Significant moderator variables were identified (i.e., type/duration of stress task, nature of control instructions, type of physiology, and gender). This review suggests that suppression may exacerbate stress-induced physiological arousal; however, this may differ based upon the chosen methodological assessment of suppression. Gynaecological conditions (e.g., endometriosis, PCOS) result in bodily changes that negatively impact body image. Psychological interventions (e.g., CBT, psychoeducation) have shown promise in reviews with the general population for alleviating body image concerns. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to provide asynthesis of the impact of psychological interventions for reducing body image concerns for individuals with gynaecological conditions. Electronic databases were searched for relevant psychological intervention studies with body image outcomes. Twenty-one eligible studies were included in the systematic review (ten were included in a random-effects meta-analysis). Studies included participants (N = 1483, M = 71.85, SD = 52.79) with a range of gynaecological conditions, ages (Mage = 35.08, SD = 12.17) and cultural backgrounds. Most included studies reported at least one positive effect with the meta-analysis indicating psychological interventions were moderately superior to control conditions for reducing body image concerns (SMD -.41, 95% CI [−0.20 −0.62]). However, there was a high risk of bias and moderate heterogeneity. Results suggest psychological interventions may hold promise for reducing body image concerns among individuals gynaecological conditions in the short term. Further, preliminary support was found for the use of theory-guided psychological interventions delivered in group settings in particular, with further research needed on optimal intervention length and particular psychotherapeutic approach.
