Purpose: To describe the development and content validation of the Upper Limb-Motor Learning Strategy Tool (UL-MLST) that aims to guide clinicians on how to implement and document the motor learning strategies used in the upper limb therapy approaches for children with cerebral palsy. Methods: The study consists of two main stages (1) item generation and development and (2) content validation and refinement. The UL-MLST Online Training Program, Manual and Checklist were developed by the authorship group in stage one. In stage 2, two experts evaluated the UL-MLST regarding the Relevance, Coherence, and Significance of the individual strategies and whether the tool is Relevant, Comprehensive, and Clinically useful. Results: Of sixty-two strategies included in the UL-MLST, 52 strategies were rated as being either "Moderately" or "Highly" Relevant, Coherent, and Significant. Ten strategies did not achieve mutual agreement; however, they did not meet the criteria for deletion and were revised according to expert feedback. Overall, the UL-MST was judged to be Relevant, Comprehensive, and Clinically useful. Conclusions: The UL-MLST provides a valid tool to support clinicians in the implementation of the motor learning strategies for children with cerebral palsy. With the rapid development of e-health and telemedicine, previous studies have explored the relationship between physician-patient communication and patient satisfaction; however, there is a paucity of research on the influence of the characteristics of patient communication on the characteristics of physician feedback. Based on the communication accommodation theory, as well as the computer-mediated communication theory and media richness theory, this study aimed to explore how characteristics of patient communication influence characteristics of physician feedback in online health communities. We employed a crawler software to download the communication data between 1652 physicians and 105,325 patients from the Good Doctor platform, the biggest online health community in China. We built an empirical model using this data and employed a multilevel model to test our hypotheses using Stata and Python software. The results indicate that the amount of patients' rendered information positively influences the physicians' text (α = 0.123, t = 33.147, P <.001) and voice feedback (β = 0.201, t = 40.011, P <.001). Patients' hope for help signals and the provision of their electronic health records weaken the effect of the amount of patients' rendered information on physicians' text feedback (α = –0.040, t = –24.857, P <.001; α = –0.048, t = –15.784, P <.001), whereas, it strengthened the effect of the amount of patients' rendered information on physicians' voice feedback (β = 0.033, t = 14.789, P <.001; β = 0.017, t = 4.208, P <.001). Moreover, the occurrence of high-privacy diseases strengthened the effect of the amount of patients' presented information on physicians' text and voice feedback (α = 0.023, t = 4.870, P <.001; β = 0.028, t = 4.282, P <.001). Blockchain has emerged as an innovative solution for organisations’ data-sharing. This paper utilises bibliometric content analysis to identify key keywords (identity management, privacy, and security issues) related to developments in blockchain adoption. We analysed 105 studies using VOSviewer software, which revealed three significant clusters. Our focus was primarily on the cluster of identity management and data sharing. While the existing literature has addressed privacy and security concerns, our study revealed a major emphasis on privacy issues, with less attention being given to the security aspects associated with potential blockchain consideration. Our discussion delineated the major themes that have arisen, around identity management, data sharing, privacy, security, and consortium blockchain. This paper reveals the link between enterprise blockchain and identity management, including the underlying factors and their interrelationships that highlight the significance of knowledge worthy of attention. Purpose: To assess the inter-reliability of the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), the 1-min Sit to Stand test (1-MSTS), and the Chester Step Test (CST) via remote assessment in post-COVID-19 patients after hospitalization. Methods: Twenty-five post-COVID-19 patients randomly performed the functional tests via remote assessment using a software platform at home and via face-to-face assessment at the rehabilitation center 24–72 h apart. One day before the remote assessment, all participants had a 1-h guidance session regarding the platform use, safety instructions, and home equipment preparation. Results: Participants completed all tests for both assessment procedures without experience of adverse events. The mean age was 53 (SD = 10) years old, and the median days of hospitalization were 23 (IQR = 10–33). The inter-reliability was moderate for the total score in the SPPB: Cohen's kappa = 0.545 (95% CI: 0.234 to 0.838), excellent for the number of repetitions in the 1-MSTS: ICC = 0.977 (95% CI: 0.948 to 0.990) and good for the total number of steps in the CST: ICC = 0.871 (95% CI: 0.698 to 0.944). Conclusion: Remote functional assessments for SPPB, 1-MSTS, and CST indicated moderate to excellent inter-reliability in post-COVID-19 patients after hospitalization. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Functional performance assessment in post-COVID-19 patients is considered important throughout the whole process of rehabilitation. The face-to-face assessment is the standard practice in the rehabilitation clinical setting however, new approaches by distance assessment are proposed when physical attendance is not feasible. In this study, the thermo-mechanical dynamic buckling analysis of two-directional functionally graded porous (2D-FGP) shallow microshells resting on elastic foundations with arbitrary boundary conditions is performed using the isogeometric approach. The isogeometric approach takes advantage of non-uniform rational B-spline basic functions to exactly represent the structure geometry models and the attainment of higher order approximation conditions. The characteristics of the material vary in both the thickness and axial x orientation. Especially, a new point in this material length-scale parameter of microshell is analyzed as a function of spatial coordinates and as a function of the material gradient parameters. Using Hamilton's principle, the modified couple stress theory, and Kirchhoff-Love's shell theory, the governing equations of a 2D-FGP microshell lying on a Pasternak medium are obtained. A computer program that employs an isogeometric analysis method to analyze the static and dynamic buckling of a 2D-FGP doubly curved shallow microshell with various boundary conditions. The numerical results for thin cylindrical, spherical, and hyperbolic paraboloidal shallow microshells with various planforms, such as rectangular and circular, are presented. Several special cases are used to demonstrate the accuracy and efficacy of the developed model by comparing the numerical results obtained by the proposed formulations with other published data. In addition, the effects of certain parameters, such as the length scale parameters, the power-law indexes, the thickness-to-sides ratio, and the radius ratio, on the dynamic thermo-mechanical buckling response of the 2D-FGP shallow microshells with double curvature are explored in depth. Astragalus membranaceus is a traditional Chinese medicine with multiple pharmacological activities. Modern pharmacological research has found that Astragalus membranaceus extract has an inhibitory effect on α-glucosidase, however, which component can inhibit the activity of α-glucosidase and its degree of inhibition are unknown. To address this issue, this study used affinity ultrafiltration screening combined with UPLC-ESI-Orbitrap-MS technology to screen α-glucosidase inhibitors in Astragalus membranaceus. Using affinity ultrafiltration technology, we obtained the active components, and using UPLC-ESI-Orbitrap-MS technology, we quickly analyzed and identified them. Family caregivers experience health, financial, and social burdens related to caregiving responsibilities. North Carolina has an estimated 1.3 million caregivers, equating to a value of $13.1 billion per year. Caregiving demands warrant additional understanding of the caregiver lived experiences. Our objective was to document these North Carolina caregiver experiences during the era of COVID-19 through focus groups. Participants were recruited through diverse community organizations. All 44 caregivers who completed interest solicitation surveys were invited to participate; 29 caregivers participated across 11 groups. Thematic analysis was used to code and synthesize transcripts from each participant using Dedoose software and guided by the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). Themes included: caregiver routines (caregiving as an all-encompassing role; dimensions of support); most challenging parts (exhaustion and defeat; lacking support; evolving relationships); most rewarding parts (care recipient resilience; quality time; sense of purpose); social service and healthcare system interactions (positive interactions; negative interactions; inaccessible services); COVID-19 impacts on caregiving (opportunities; challenges); and caregiver suggestions for system improvements (increasing financial support; improved coordination; ideological shifts). Caregivers shared unmet needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. In the present study, a simple and reliabe small-scale laboratory test to assess the performance of aggregate interlocked joints in short-panelled concrete pavements in terms of LTE is proposed. In the proposed test method, conventional standard flexural strength test beam specimens (100×100× 500mm) are used for understanding the performance of aggregate interlocking of PQC mix specimens prepared using coarse aggregates of different NMAS and with addition of both micro and macro fibers. The test setup is also modelled in ANSYS FE software. The experimentally obtained LTE is compared with the LTE obtained from the FE model. The field FWD test is conducted for validation. The relative movement is determined from FWD test, and corresponding LTE is determined using the LTE and RM relationship obtained from experimental results using the proposed test apparatus. Objectives: To investigate the potential efficacy of a commercial continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) ventilator to provide effective respiratory support in a simulated scenario of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Methods: The study was conducted on a high-fidelity manikin (SimMan 3 GTM, Laerdal, NOR) connected to the ASL 5000TM Lung Simulator (IngMar Medical, USA). To simulate OHCA, we set no spontaneous respiratory acts and physiological respiratory system resistance (13 cmH2O/L.sec) and compliance (50 mL/cmH2O). The Respironics BiPAP A40 ventilatorI (Philips, NL) was used to provide ventilatory support while operating in CPAP mode. Tests were performed at different values of positive pressure of the CPAP ventilator (PCPAP: 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 cmH2O) and the intrapulmonary volume (tidal volume, Vt) measured via the simulator software computer interface. A trained physician performed the tests. Our primary outcome was a VT of ≈500-600 mL with an intermittent maneuver simulating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)-like ventilatory support practice according to international guideline-based target (1-sec ventilation followed by 1-sec pause). Results: In intermittent ventilatory support tests, PCPAP levels of 12.5, and 15 cmH2O resulted in a VT equal to 508 ± 13 mL, and 557 ± 44 mL respectively (p = 0.04), thus approaching the VT target. Conclusions: We provide preliminary evidence of the potential efficacy of CPAP ventilators designed for home use to provide effective respiratory support to a simulated respiratory arrest patient. Thigh-worn accelerometry is commonly implemented to measure step cadence. The default activPAL CREA algorithm is a valid measure of cadence during walking, but its validity during running is unknown. The ActiPASS software is designed to analyse tri-axial accelerometry data from various brands. We tested the validity of CREA v1.3 and ActiPASS 2023.12 to measure step cadence against manually-counted steps. Forty-five participants (26♀, 23.4 ± 4.6 years) completed 5 walking (6 min each, 2–4 mph) and 5 running treadmill (5–7 mph) stages (423 total stages completed). Based on equivalence testing, walking cadence (stages 1–5: 92–124 steps/min) from CREA was statistically equivalent (zone: <±2.2% of the manually-counted mean) to manual counts (92–125 steps/min). However, CREA underpredicted cadence during running stages (stages 6–10: 143–135 steps/min) by ~ 11–20 steps/min (p < 0.001). The ActiPASS-derived cadences were equivalent (zone: <±3.3%) to manual counts for all walking stages (99–127 steps/min) except Stage 1 (zone: ±10.5%). ActiPASS underpredicted cadences during running (stages 6–10: 137–153 steps/min) by ~ 10–16 steps/min (p < 0.001) compared to manual counts (stages 6–10: 154–164 steps/min). The CREA v1.3 algorithm is a valid measure of cadence during walking while ActiPASS 2023.12 is a valid measure of cadence during medium-fast walking. Risk assessment and safety planning are central to mental health nursing practice but were seriously affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns. In this study, we aimed to explore how the UK pandemic lockdowns affected risk assessment and safety planning from the perspective of mental health practitioners. A sequential, mixed methods study design was used. A link to an online survey questionnaire was distributed and semi-structured interviews with a subset of respondents were conducted. Survey data were analysed to describe perceived changes in the frequency and nature of risk assessment and safety planning during the pandemic lockdowns. This was supplemented by thematic analysis of qualitative interview data. In total, 106 practitioners were surveyed and 10 participated in semi-structured interviews. More respondents increased than decreased risk assessment frequency but there was no significant overall change. Remote contact was more common in community settings and largely involved telephone appointments. Participants did not wish to continue with remote working following the pandemic. The majority of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) develop hypokinetic dysarthria with a disturbance of prosody. The most important acoustic characteristic of prosodic impairment in PD is a lack of fundamental frequency (F0)-variability. It is well established that a lack of F0-variability can negatively influence the speech intelligibility of neurotypical speakers in background noise. The purpose of this study was to investigate which aspect of processing speech realised by speakers with PD is affected by lack of intonation: intelligibility as measured by a transcription task, scaled intelligibility and/or perceived listening effort when there is no background noise. F0-flattening of Semantically Unpredictable Sentences (SUS) was achieved, while the natural F0-declination was preserved. Introduction: Individuals identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and other related identities (LGBTQIA+) experience challenges with healthcare, including physiotherapy. To understand potential contributions to poor experiences, this study explored physiotherapists' experiences and perspectives about working with members of LGBTQIA+ communities. Methods: This study employed a qualitative research design, suitable for exploring the experiences and perspectives of individuals within the physiotherapy context. The sample consisted of physiotherapists working in Australia who participated in a larger survey study. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews which were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data analysis was conducted using a relativistic and queer theoretical framework with a reflexive thematic approach. Results: Eighteen physiotherapists with diverse sexual orientations participated in the interviews. While all participants identified as women or men, not all used binary gender pronouns. Five key themes were developed: 1) "anti-discrimination" regarding choice of language and providing safe environments; 2) "current and historical discrimination" against LGBTQIA+ individuals; 3) "taking an equality approach" when working with LGBTQIA+ patients; 4) "knowledge of LGBTQIA+ health" in a broad sense and specifically with transgender and gender-diverse people; and 5) "managing own reactions" with respect to individual biases and discomfort. Conclusion: Underpinning all themes was the overarching concept of cis/hetero/endonormativity. Assuming normativity when working with LGBTQIA+ patients, is likely to have negative effects on patients' mental health, the therapeutic relationship and quality of care. In order to improve diversity, safety, inclusion and equity of care for LGBTQIA+ individuals, it is vital that normativity within physiotherapy is challenged. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Play is a fundamental human right and one of the most important occupations in children's lives. Fewer opportunities exist for children with physical disabilities (CWPD) to play. This study aimed to conduct a scoping review of published peer-reviewed literature on using AT to enable "play-for-the-sake-of-play" by CWPD. Method: The review was conducted using a widely accepted scoping review methodology. Literature searches were conducted from January 2000 to March 2022 using MEDLINE, Central, CINAHL, ERIC, Scopus, and EMBASE. Pairs of reviewers used an online systematic review system to manage title, abstract, and full-text screening. Excel was used for data extraction and charting. Data was charted based on type of AT, play types according to LUDI definitions, and level of evidence. Results: The search yielded 5250 papers after the removal of duplicates. Title and abstract screening identified 58 studies for full-text screening. The final sample included 31 papers. Seven types of AT were identified in studies: power mobility, virtual reality, robots, adaptations for upper limb differences, switch-adapted games, augmentative and alternative communication devices, and mobility aids. Twenty-three papers addressed cognitive play, seven addressed social play, and one addressed both cognitive and social play. Most studies used case study, descriptive, or repeated measures designs. Conclusion: There is limited evidence regarding the use of AT to support play-for-the-sake-of-play in CWPD. Given the importance of play, further research using rigorous methodologies and the development of assistive technology dedicated to promoting play-for-the-sake-of-play is warranted. IMPLICATION FOR REHABILITATION: There is a need to promote play-for-the-sake-of-play for its intrinsic value rather than only focusing on play for its therapeutic outcomes for children with physical disabilities. Existing studies on technology to support play participation for children with physical disabilities seldom consider a holistic view of play that includes both social and cognitive dimensions. This study focuses on computer-based formative assessment for supporting problem solving and reasoning in mathematics. To be able to assist students who find themselves in difficulties, the software suggested descriptions – diagnoses – of the encountered difficulty the students could choose from. Thereafter, the software provided metacognitive and heuristic feedback as suitable. The findings provide insight into how formative assessment can be designed to support students during their problem solving and indicate that diagnosis and feedback could be helpful for promoting students' creative reasoning. In this paper, a nonlinear elasto-plastic analysis method under incremental external loads is presented to determine static pushover curves of 3D frame structures. Geometric nonlinearity is taken into account with stability functions, and the nonlinear behaviour of material is considered by plastic hinge hypothesis. Improved matrices and matrix operations for 3D frame elements are given, and the results obtained from a six-storey 3D frame, which is used as a benchmark example, are given comparatively with the related studies. Furthermore, in order to perform these analyses with the developed algorithms, the upgraded computer program TUNAL is used to present pushover curves of a 2-storey RC building for an assumption on torsional stiffness caused by plastic hinges. Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of the Selective Control of Upper Extremity Scale (SCUES) in patients with stroke. Materials and Methods: Forty-two patients with stroke aged 18–75 years, were included in the study. Patients were video-recorded while SCUES was administered. The videos were scored to determine the intrarater and inter-rater reliability. Fugl Meyer Assessment of Upper Extremity (FMA-UE), Box and Block test (BBT) and Brunnstrom Stages of Motor Recovery were measured to evaluate validity of SCUES. Spearman correlation analysis was used to assess the validity of SCUES. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), Kappa (κ) and weighted Kappa (κw) were calculated to determine intrarater and inter-rater reliability. Results: There were significant positive high correlations between SCUES and FMA-UE and BBT and Brunnstrom upper extremity proximal and distal values (rho = 0.944, p = 0.01; rho = 0,875, p = 0.01; rho = 0.84, p = 0.01, rho = 0.82, p = 0.01; respectively) showing validity of SCUES. The ICC value of inter-rater reliability of SCUES was 0,99 (%95 CI: 0,989-0,997, p = 0,001) showing excellent reliability. κ and κ w values for inter-rater and intrarater reliability of individual SCUES items were above 0.7 indicating excellent reliability. ICC of SCUES and FMA-UE indicated excellent intrarater reliability (ICC = 0,99; %95 CI: 0,989–0,997, p = 0,001; ICC = 0.943; %95 CI: 0.9–0.97, p = 0,0001, consecutively). Conclusions: SCUES showed similar validity and reliability with FMA-UE and SCUES can be used in the evaluation of upper extremity selective motor control in patients with stroke. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: The Selective Control of Upper Extremity Scale (SCUES) stands out from existing outcome assessment tools for upper extremity motor control in stroke patients by enabling the evaluation of various quantifiers of selective motor function. SCUES assesses not only the accompanying movements of the trunk or additional joints beyond the targeted joint but also the presence of mirror movements, along with assessing the limited dynamic range of motion. SCUES appears valid and reliable in patients with stroke, indicating its potential use in evaluating upper extremity selective motor control and assessing the outcomes of interventions aimed at enhancing selective motor control. This paper offers guidance for remote communication with young children based on an interpretive study of participants engaged in an online Theatre for Early Years (TEY) event, Up and Down. Drawing on practices used for in-person performance, the theatre-makers engaged interactively with children aged 1 and 2 and their accompanying adults through a conference video call. Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was used as an approach to generate themes from observation, and interviews with the parents. Three master themes were generated: Missing Live Performance, Unfiltered Response and Human Connection. The discussion was informed by relational pedagogies and the concept of cultural value. Those engaging with young children through video call software are encouraged to look for ways to create embodied, sensory, and 'magical' experiences; collaborate with the adults present; and take a strengths-based approach to the medium. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyse the relationship between automatic vowel articulation index (aVAI) and direct magnitude estimation (DME) among speakers with Parkinson's disease (PD) and healthy controls. We further analysed the potential of aVAI to serve as an objective measure of speech impairment in the clinical setting. Method: Speech samples from native Finnish speakers were utilised. Expert raters utilised DME to scale the intelligibility of speech samples. aVAI scores for PD speakers and healthy control speakers were analysed in relationship to DME speech intelligibility ratings and, among PD speakers, disease stage utilising nonparametric statistical analysis. Result: Mean DME intelligibility ratings were lower among PD speakers compared to healthy controls. Mean aVAI scores were nearly the same between speaker groups. DME intelligibility ratings and aVAI were strongly correlated within the PD speaker group. aVAI and DME intelligibility ratings were moderately correlated with disease stage as measured by the Hoehn and Yahr scale. Conclusion: aVAI was observed to be a promising tool for analysing vowel articulation in PD speakers. Further research is warranted on the application of aVAI as an objective measure of severity of speech impairment in the clinical setting, with varying patient populations and speech samples. The development of creative thinking is an important task of modern education. The purpose of this study is to empirically confirm/disprove the hypothesis that the tools of an educational environment with innovative technologies contribute to the development of pedagogy students' creativity. For this purpose, a creativity course was designed and implemented. Before and after the course, students were assessed using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking. Similarities or differences between the control and experimental groups were tested using the χ2 criterion. After taking a course to develop creative thinking, the situation in both groups changed significantly. The research is of theoretical and practical value for teachers and pedagogy students interested in creative thinking development and/or implementation of digital technologies in the educational process. Despite the popularity of traditional fit index cutoffs like RMSEA ≤.06 and CFI ≥.95, several studies have noted issues with overgeneralizing traditional cutoffs. Computational methods have been proposed to avoid overgeneralization by deriving cutoffs specifically tailored to the characteristics of the model being evaluated. Simulations show favorable performance of these methods; however, these methods support a narrow set of scenarios (e.g., certain models or response scales) and the interpretation of cutoffs is not always standardized, which affects empirical researchers' ability to confidently and broadly adopt these methods to evaluate model fit. In this paper, we propose an extension to one recently developed computational method—dynamic fit index cutoffs—that (a) permits application to any covariance structure model (e.g., CFA, mediation, bifactor), (b) standardizes interpretation of cutoffs across any covariance structure model, and (c) supports normal, nonnormal, categorical, and missing data. In this research, the optimization of the geometric parameters of a 3-layer composite plate with an elliptical cutout in the center was investigated utilizing an artificial neural network and genetic algorithm for the first time to obtain the minimum ratio of linear buckling load to weight and the ratio of the diameters of the ellipse. After completing 294 simulations in Abaqus finite element software and forming an artificial neural network with two hidden layers, the function obtained in the artificial neural network was used as the objective function in the genetic algorithm, and the optimal values for the angle of the ellipse with the horizon axis, the diameter ratio of ellipses as well as the fiber angle of the middle layer of the composite were obtained. using artificial neural networks, three algorithms, Levenberg-Marquardt, Bayesian regularization; and scaled conjugate gradient backpropagation, were compared and the number of neurons in each algorithm was compared. The results showed that Levenberg-Marquardt's algorithm is more accurate compared to other algorithms. In the end, the optimal values for the angle of the ellipse with the horizontal axis; as the fiber angle of the middle layer of the composite and, the ratio of the oval diameters as α = 12.3001 degree , θ = 5.9481 degree and D = 1.5690. In this paper we studied the personal mathematical work of 14 students in initial teacher training, in their first year of studies at a public university in Chile, based on two tasks on complex numbers. These tasks were set in a Computer Aided Assessment System (CAA) based on Moodle and Wiris and it was proposed to solve them using different Computer Algebra Systems (CAS), such as GeoGebra, Symbolab, Photomath and Wolfram Alpha among others. Difficulties and potentialities were observed in the mathematical work of the students. In the difficulties, it was observed that the students had problems interpreting the information from the CAS and the CAA feedback because their previous mathematical knowledge was not solid enough to do so. In the potentialities, it was observed that different characteristics of the task, together with the articulation of two or more artifacts allowed students to give meaning to the mathematical objects involved. In this overview article, we present the main features of the upgraded ID27 beamline which is fully optimised to match the exceptional characteristics of the new Extremely Bright Source (EBS) of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). The ID27 beamline has been converted to a 120-m-long instrument and has undergone a major refurbishment of all its critical components including both hardware and software environments. We will successively introduce the ID27 undulator X-ray source, optical scheme and the main components of the experimental hutch. Purpose: Person-centred care is widely accepted as being central to high quality care, but little is known about how physiotherapists implement person centred rehabilitation in Intensive Care. This study explores the self-reported experiences and interpretations of physiotherapists delivering person-centred rehabilitation in this setting. Methods: A qualitative study using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis explored the lived experiences of physiotherapists and students who have worked in Intensive Care. Three focus groups, with four participants in each, were conducted. Data were fully transcribed, analysed and managed using NVivo software. Results: Participants shared similar interpretations about the principles of person-centred care. Operationalising person-centred rehabilitation during early recovery was not easily achievable. As the person's clinical condition improved, participants moved away from routine physiotherapy and their practice became more person-centred through the development of a partnership. Participants connected as humans to understand the person and respond to their needs within a culture that valued person-centred care. Conclusions: Physiotherapists aspire to develop a partnership with their patients by connecting on a human level with them and addressing their biopsychosocial needs. Physiotherapists with experience of developing patient partnerships influence the culture of the Intensive Care team and are role-models to facilitate collaborative person-centred activity in others. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATION: Physiotherapists can move from a biomedical approach towards becoming partners with patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as they become cognitively aware. Physiotherapists become person-centred by connecting as humans to the patient and moving towards a biopsychosocial approach that addresses the physical, psychological and instrumental needs of the patient in ICU. When aiming towards a person-centred approach on ICU, physiotherapists contribute to a culture that nurtures the unique patient and works collaboratively with the family and the health care team. Intraosseous (IO) access is frequently utilized during the resuscitation of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. Due to proximity to the heart and differential flow rates, the anatomical site of IO access may impact patient outcomes. Using a large dataset, we aimed to compare the outcomes of OHCA patients who received upper or lower extremity IO access during resuscitation. The ESO Data Collaborative public use research datasets were used for this retrospective study. All adult (≥18 years of age) OHCA patients with successful IO access in an upper or lower extremity were evaluated for inclusion. Patients were excluded if they had intravenous (IV) access prior to IO access, or if they had a Do Not Resuscitate order documented. Our primary outcome was return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Secondary outcomes included survival to discharge and survival to discharge to home. Mixed-effects multivariable logistic regression models adjusted for age, sex, etiology, witnessed status, pre-first responder cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), initial electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm, location [private/residential, public, or assisted living/institutional], and response time in addition to the primary airway management strategy (endotracheal intubation, supraglottic device, surgical airway, no advanced airway) were used to compare the outcomes of patients with upper extremity IO access to the outcomes of patients with lower extremity IO access. After application of exclusion criteria, 155,884 patients who received IO access during resuscitation remained (76% lower extremity, 24% upper extremity). Upper extremity IO access was associated with greater adjusted odds of ROSC (1.11 [1.08, 1.15]), and this finding was consistent across multiple patient subgroups. Secondary analyses suggested that upper extremity access was associated with increased survival to discharge (1.18 [1.00, 1.39]) and survival to discharge to home (1.23 [1.02, 1.48]) in comparison to lower extremity IO access. In this large prehospital dataset, upper extremity IO access was associated with a small increase in the odds of ROSC in comparison to lower extremity IO access. With software developments and advances in display technologies substantially improved, augmented reality (AR) application has gained popularity. In this study, we discuss using classic PowerPoint and AR for two kinds of scaffolding tasks (task-lifeline assembly and hedge assembly) for users with different spatial ability. We considered both objective and subjective measures of performance, i.e., correct rate and system usability and the ITC-sense of presence inventory (ITC-SOPI) scale. The results of the study show that participants using AR achieved higher operating performance than those using PowerPoint. Furthermore, the users' learning effect was influenced by spatial ability when using PowerPoint. Participants with high spatial ability achieved higher performance than participants with low spatial ability in PowerPoint. However, participants who used AR as a training method did not show significantly different operating performance at different levels of spatial ability. Various toxic and flammable gases exist in the fertilizer industry whose release quantification is very important regarding emergency preparedness, planning and response, and well-being of the community. ALOHA threat zones and threat at a point coupled with MARPLOT are evaluated for ammonia, methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen release, and outdoor and indoor concentrations of these gases in nearby residences and highways calculated. These footprints are calculated using ALOHA which requires inputs such as site data, site location, building type, gas name, atmospheric inputs, release source information and dispersion model to display the threat zone, which can then be shown on MARPLOT. Potential impact of these releases on the community is mitigated through releasing equipment isolations, water sprays for dilutions, dilutions through steam or air and emergency sirens for information. The multi-layer armor shell structure of the scaly-foot snail has been proven to be resistant to penetration and perforation. Inspired by the special structure, a novel ceramic-composite impact-resistant structure was proposed. We developed a user-defined subroutine (VUMAT) of the finite element software ABQUS to analyze the progressive damage process and energy dissipation mechanism under impact. It is found that the novel structure features rigid-flexible coupling, both soft and hard layers play a key role in the impact resistance process. Fitting a log binomial regression model using standard software can result in numerical difficulties because its functional form does not restrict the estimated probabilities to values not exceeding unity. The common approaches to resolve the issue are to introduce a constraint to limit the results of each iteration. However, if the ML solution lies on the boundary of the allowable parameter space, some fitted probabilities are equal to unity (named as boundary vector). The common approaches have trouble dealing with those boundary vectors and can only reach somewhere before the ML solution. Previously a remedy has been proposed, but without the details necessary to implement it. Here we provide these details, including formulae for estimating the covariances essential to implement the method, an explanation of inter-dependency between coefficient estimates, and a proof that the method can be implemented in general. Code written for R implements choice of fitting algorithms, finding appropriate starting values, identifying the covariate vector(s) with a fitted probability of unity, and strategies for covariate ordering to handle the issues caused by the common values in two distinct boundary vectors. AbstractArtificial intelligence (AI) technologies, as a product of processes aimed at imitating human intelligence through computers and software, affect our daily lives in various aspects, including cultural, technological, and economic. The advent of ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, signifies a pivotal AI advancement in human language comprehension and generation, heralding profound implications across societal, economic, and cultural dimensions. However, a notable gap exists in scholarly literature concerning the examination of perceptions and discussions surrounding ChatGPT. This study aims to address this gap by analyzing Twitter conversations, comprising 1.1 million tweets containing “ChatGPT” or “#ChatGPT” between December 1 2022 and June 1 2023, with geolocation data. Employing a text as data approach encompassing text, sentiment, and semantic network analyses, sentiment polarity and lexical patterns were explained, while semantic network analysis revealed central expressions and prominent themes in Twitter discussions. The study highlights the social effects of AI technologies from the perspective of Twitter users and reveals the sentimental tendency and themes in tweets with geographical and economic dimensions. The findings reflect the prevalence of positive sentiment and hype toward ChatGPT while there are also concerns regarding privacy, cybersecurity, and misuse of AI tools. More importantly, content generation, technical aspects, business applications, educational use, and competitors are among the main themes of ChatGPT-related discussions on Twitter. The transformation to a software-defined car and the necessary competence building in software pose severe problems and threats for established car manufacturers. This study examines the adaptation of German car manufacturers to new digital technologies with their own competence building in software and with external partnerships. The firm’s resource- and competence-based views are used as the theoretical foundation. The empirical analysis includes an explorative case study of two German automotive firms and their external cooperation partners. Case studies show that automotive firms have chosen different pathways to build digital competencies. They realise a firm-specific mixture of competence building by investing their own resources or by partnering with external cooperation partners. The results showed remarkable differences in competence levels and successes between the two firms. The main theoretical result of the explorative case studies is that the management of dependencies, building or dissolution of relationships with other firms, aspect of time, and aspect of firm organisation must be included as endogenous factors in the theoretical analysis of competence building. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore healthcare professionals' (HCPs) perceptions and experiences related to 3D scanning and 3D printing for fabricating lower limb prosthetic sockets. Materials and methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Participants were recruited through HCPs' professional associations, social media posts, and snowball sampling. Purposive sampling was used to attain variation in provider type. One-on-one telephone interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide. Inductive thematic analysis was performed to identify the main themes. Results: Three themes were identified: (1) 3D scanning of the residual limb for designing prosthetic sockets is perceived as clean, quick, and convenient; (2) concerns about the strength and safety of 3D printed sockets for long-term use; (3) Adoption of 3D scanning and 3D printing technology for fabricating prosthetic sockets. Conclusion: We identified perceived benefits and challenges with digital technologies for fabricating prosthetic sockets. To increase adoption, more research demonstrating its efficacy compared to conventional methods, increasing 3D printing material quality, and improving software training programs are needed. Implications for Rehabilitation: 3D printing and 3D scanning are emerging digital technologies that can be used as alternative methods for prosthetic socket manufacturing in the field of rehabilitation. Our research identified perceived benefits of using digital technologies for fabricating prosthetics sockets (3D scanning is perceived as clean, quick, and convenient) and perceived challenges (concerns about the strength and safety of 3D printed sockets for long-term use and a prolonged learning curve). Naming performance can be considered a diagnostic key in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which has remained diagnostically challenging. Although most of the studies in this field have been conducted on the naming accuracy of common nouns, others have shown that proper nouns are more sensitive for detecting the onset of AD. This study aims to compare the naming of common and proper nouns.Eighty pictures of common and proper nouns (40 items each) were presented to 18 healthy older adults and 18 people with mild Alzheimer’s disease using DMDX software on a laptop computer. The patients’ responses were transcribed into a pre-designed form, and their reaction times were captured by DMDX.Study results indicated a significant difference in the number of errors and RTs between proper and common nouns in patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease (p-value=), implying that proper nouns may be more sensitive to mild AD. Moreover, patients with mild Alzheimer’s had more problems in common and proper nouns than healthy older adults.This study demonstrated that individuals with mild AD experienced greater difficulty recalling proper nouns, which were found to be more susceptible to the effects of AD. This study evaluated the diagnostic performances of a tablet-based hearing screening test by assisted-test and self-test modes. Measurements were performed with the SoTone tests in normal hearing and hearing-impaired adult participants using an Android tablet and calibrated Bluetooth headphones. The duration of assisted- and self-test modes were compared. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted after calculations of sensitivity and specificity at 20, 30, and 35 dB HL cut-off values. 217 participants performed the tests. The effect of test mode (assisted versus self) was compared in a sample of 103 participants. Self-test duration (89 s) was significantly longer than the assisted-test duration (75 s) (p = 0.003, Wilcoxon test). For the 20, 30, and 35 dB HL cut-off values, sensitivity was between 92% and 96%, and specificity was between 79 and 90%. Concordance of results between assisted-test and self-test modes was excellent (Cohen's kappa = 0.81, p < 0.001). The SoTone hearing screening test is accurate for identifying the presence of a suspected hearing loss at 20 dB HL or more in adults. It can be used either in assisted-test or self-test modes. The objective of this study was to obtain an understanding of audiologists' knowledge of Spanish speech perception materials for the paediatric hearing loss population. An electronic survey, the Knowledge of Spanish Audiology & Speech Tools (KSAST) was distributed via Qualtrics to audiologists who worked with Spanish-speaking children. One hundred and fifty-three audiologists practicing in the United States completed the electronic survey over a period of six months. Audiologists lacked knowledge of current Spanish measures and there was no consensus on what providers were administering for the paediatric population. The largest gaps in knowledge existed for the infancy through early childhood age groups. Notably, even when Spanish measures exist, audiologists reported feeling uncomfortable using them in clinic due to a variety of reasons (e.g., did not know how to access measure, did not know how to administer). This study highlights the lack of consensus in managing Spanish-speaking patients with hearing loss. There is a lack of validated age-appropriate measures to accurately assess speech perception for Spanish-speaking children. Future research should focus on improving training on management of Spanish-speaking patients, as well as development of speech measures and best practice guidelines for this population. Typical Pulmonary Carcinoid (TPC) is defined by its slow growth, frequently necessitating surgical intervention. Despite this, the long-term outcomes following tumor resection are not well understood. This study examined the factors impacting Overall Survival (OS) in patients with TPC, leveraging data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database spanning from 2000 to 2018. We employed Lasso-Cox analysis to identify prognostic features and developed various models using Random Forest, XGBoost, and Cox regression algorithms. Subsequently, we assessed model performance using metrics such as Area Under the Curve (AUC), calibration plot, Brier score, and Decision Curve Analysis (DCA). Among the 2687 patients, we identified five clinical features significantly affecting OS. Notably, the Random Forest model exhibited strong performance, achieving 5- and 7-year AUC values of 0.744/0.757 in the training set and 0.715/0.740 in the validation set, respectively, outperforming other models. Additionally, we developed a web-based platform aimed at facilitating easy access to the model. This study presents a machine learning model and a web-based support system for healthcare professionals, assisting in personalized treatment decisions for patients with TPC post-tumor resection. This study aimed to assess the moderating role of gender in the relationship between childhood abuse and mental disorders in the population of a country that has been little studied. This research was designed by the correlational model, one of the quantitative research designs. 272 university students attending a state university in Turkey participated in the research. For sample selection, the convenience sampling method was used. As a result of analyses within the scope of the present study, it was concluded that gender had a moderating effect on the relationship between sexual abuse and somatisation, emotional abuse and negative self and physical neglect and hostility. This study investigates the effects of information presentation on operator performance in digital control systems at different levels of task difficulty in order to resolve the conflict between 'large amounts of information' and 'limited display'. By using software to present figures of varying difficulty as target information, the operator's behaviour such as page switching and target clicking is simulated to obtain data. Simultaneously, eye-tracking technique was used to analyse how the way information was presented at different levels of difficulty influenced the subjects' search performance. The results show that subjects' performance gradually decreases as the difficulty of the numbers grows for both presentations, and it is found that the complexity of the content of the navigation bar may have influenced the subjects to some extent. In addition, the different position of the navigation bar where the target is located will result in a change in the search pattern. It is noticeable that dividing the single page into double pages can effectively alleviate the contradiction of 'large amount of information' and 'limited display' in designing the system interface. As individuals are likely to feel anxious in case of obscurities in distance education environments, it seems necessary to develop a data collection tool for anxiety in such environments. In this study, a scale was developed to reveal the anxiety levels of university students in distance education. Quantitative research method was used in the study. The study group consisted of 935 students in the first sample for exploratory factor analysis and 418 students in the second sample for confirmatory factor analysis including those who previously experienced distance education. After the validity and reliability were ensured in the study, the final version of the anxiety scale for distance education (ASDE) consisted of a total of 17 items and three dimensions. These dimensions were listed as readiness for the profession anxiety, social anxiety and privacy concern. Furthermore, to establish the concurrent validity, the Online Privacy Concern Scale and Anxiety subscale of Brief Symptom İnventory are administered to 219 and 197 students in the third and fourth samples as a criterion scale. Contact angle measurement by sessile drop (SD) and captive bubble (CB) method is calculated by the four software, i.e. 'Angle Tool' plugin, Drop Snake (DS) plugin, and LB-ADSA plugin of the ImageJ®; and the Ossila® with their advantages and disadvantages. In this study, the ease of use and precision were tested by standard deviation calculation for different hydrophilic membranes. Angle Tool plugin, and DS plugin of ImageJ®; and the Ossila software gave high standard deviations due to rough cut membranes edges giving background shadows misleading the software algorithm. LB-ADSA plugin of the ImageJ® had both advantages of manual drop edge selection and algorithmic calculation of contact angle giving the lowest standard deviation. The aim of this review was to synthesise qualitative literature on physical activity experiences of community-dwelling older adults with physical disabilities. We conducted a scoping review of peer-reviewed, qualitative studies on physical activity with community-dwelling older adults with physical disabilities. We analysed eligible studies identified through electronic database searches (CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus) and manual searches undertaken up to June 2023. Twenty-eight articles with 306 participants were included. As regard the experience of physical activity, although physical activity could elicit pleasure and enjoyment, many reported that physical activity sometimes produced pain. Various outcomes of physical activity were reported, with several physical, psychological, social, and lifestyle benefits prominent. Analyses of barriers and facilitators demonstrated how intrapersonal, interpersonal, environmental, and systems and programme factors influenced physical activity participation among older adults with physical disabilities. Our findings contribute to literature on physical activity in older adults with physical disabilities by synthesising qualitative research on physical activity experiences, outcomes, barriers, and facilitators in this population. Findings demonstrate the need for knowledgeable and supportive healthcare and exercise professionals, environments that support physical activity, and activities that promote pleasure and social connections. Physical activity is perceived to have wide-ranging benefits for community-dwelling older adults with physical disabilities. Various intrapersonal, interpersonal, environmental, and systems and programme barriers constrain physical activity in physically disabled people. The Monte Carlo Computational Summit was held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, USA on 25–26 October 2023. The goals of the summit were to discuss algorithmic and software alterations required for successfully porting respective code bases to exascale-class computing hardware, compare software engineering techniques used by various code teams, and consider the adoption of industry-standard benchmark problems to better facilitate code-to-code performance comparisons. Participants reported that identifying and implementing suitable Monte Carlo algorithms for GPUs continues to be a sticking point. They also report significant difficulty porting existing algorithms between GPU APIs (specifically Nvidia CUDA to AMD ROCm). To better compare code-to-code performance, participants decided to design a C5G7-like benchmark problem with a defined figure of merit, with the expectation of adding more benchmarks in the future. The participants also identified the need to explore the intermediate and long-term future of the Monte Carlo neutron transport community and how best to modernize and contextualize Monte Carlo as a useful tool in modern industry. The relationship between a patient and their therapist plays a crucial role in patient engagement. While Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) may assist in preserving cognitive skills in cases of aging, dementia or acquired brain injuries, its effectiveness has not been definitively proven. Improving user engagement, acceptance, and software usability could aid in addressing this issue. The present study aims to identify potential obstacles and facilitators by examining the perspectives of rehabilitation professionals on the current usage of CCT software. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 rehabilitation professionals, familiar with a CCT software. The data were transcribed and followed by an independent iterative thematic analysis. Two major themes were identified: (1) facilitating factors and (2) difficulties related to use. The main obstacles were difficulties related to the computerized nature of the exercises, technology use, understanding the software and general learning difficulties. The main facilitators were the ecological and novel nature of the exercises, and the adaptability of the difficulty levels. The complexity of the CCT presents challenges for its usage by rehabilitation professionals, which in turn can impede patient utilization as well. To address this issue and promote sustainable use of the software, providing instruction delivery to facilitate learning and understanding of the CCT is essential. Additionally, creating a standardized foundation that therapists can refer to for guidance may also aid in optimizing the software's usage. It is recommended to utilize a model for CCT acceptability and acceptance in developing these solutions to enhance patient engagement. Computerized Cognitive Training (CCT) may help sustain cognitive skills or delay its decline due to causes such as aging, dementia or acquired brain injuries. User engagement, user acceptance and software usability could help address these issues. The relationship between a patient and their therapist plays a crucial role in patient engagement. Documentation of patient care is essential for both out-of-hospital and in-hospital clinical management. Secondarily, documentation is key for monitoring and improving quality; however, in some EMS systems initial care is often provided by non-transporting agencies whose personnel may not routinely complete patient care reports. Limited data exist describing effective methods for increasing complete patient care documentation among non-transporting agencies. The aim of this quality improvement project was to increase electronic health record (EHR) documentation compliance in a large urban fire-based non-transporting EMS agency. The improvement project began in May 2020. Our primary outcome was the proportion of completed EHR records for EMS responses. Primary drivers were determined from informal interviews with front-line firefighters. Interventions were implemented following a Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) approach first at a single station, then battalion, and ultimately at the entire department. Interventions included performance reports, modifications of chart requirements, localized directive requiring EHR completion for all EMS runs, directive to officers that EHRs are required, documentation training, and a department-wide directive. We used statistical process control charts (p-chart) to identify special cause variation following interventions. The baseline of EHR completion for the entire fire department was 5% (373/7423 records) for the month of January 2020. Front-line interviews with 58 firefighters revealed drivers including lack of accountability and unfamiliarity with the software. After implementing a station performance report at one fire station, the station's EHR rate climbed from 0.9% (3/337 records) to 26.7% (179/671) after 9 weeks. This test was expanded to a battalion of six stations with similar results. After multiple PDSA cycles focused on agency policy and training, overall department wide EHR compliance per month improved to 89% (4,816/5,439 records) for the month of February 2021 and sustained in following months. Within this large urban fire department, EHR documentation compliance improved significantly through a series of tests of change. Informal interviews with front-line personnel were instrumental in determining primary drivers to develop change ideas. AbstractComputing involving physiological data such as heart rate and electrodermal activity has been used as a way to enrich K-12 students’ computing learning experiences. This study explored a novel way to engage elementary students of color as “developers” through a series of physiological computing lessons during a summer learning program. Learners used real-time physiological data (i.e. muscle energy) as computer inputs to build computer programs. The study used an explanatory mixed method by combining multi-dimensional eye-tracking metrics data with qualitative investigation to reveal the visual attention of students with different programming proficiency levels. The regression analysis revealed three statistically significant predictors of students’ programming performances. AbstractThe aim of this study is to examine the contribution of out-of-school learning environments to the teaching of 4th grade social studies course according to the views of classroom teachers. The study group of the research consists of 13 classroom teachers in Turkey determined according to the criterion sampling method. The data were collected using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis method using NVivo 12 computer package program and then interpreted. Accordingly, it was determined that students learned the subject by doing-living through out-of-school learning environments, their academic achievement increased, and they were motivated in these environments. In these environments, it was found that students established a serious connection between the past and the future, learned about their own culture, communicated with each other, socialized, gained knowledge of responsible citizenship, realized interdisciplinary learning and developed independent thinking skills in students. It is important to understand the unique experiences and perspectives of older adults who were required to incorporate critical adaptive behaviors during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. An anonymous, cross-sectional survey was administered online through Qualtrics Survey Software in June 2020 to 1405 adults between the ages of 18 and 86. Differences in adaptability between older adults and young/middle-aged adults were analyzed. This study found that older adults (n = 132) utilized different sources of information than young/middle-aged adults; they were more likely to read the newspaper or listen to the radio, and less likely to rely on social media for information. Older respondents in this study reported coping with the COVID-19 outbreak better than young/middle-aged respondents, were less likely to report that they were personally affected by the virus, and were less likely to feel overwhelmed by the amount of information about COVID-19. The findings of this study highlight adaptability and resilience in older adults not found in young/middle-aged adults and provide an important step in identifying policy and practice suggestions to reduce negative repercussions for older adults experiencing the current crisis, as well as future generations of older adults who might experience similar events. A large number of ancient mosaics are no longer available to us because they have been destroyed by erosion, earthquakes, looting, or even used as materials in newer construction. To make things worse, among the small fraction of mosaics that have been recovered, many are damaged or incomplete. Therefore, it is of interest to explore how the mosaics may have appeared originally by using virtual reconstruction. This has traditionally been done manually and more recently using computer graphics programs but always by humans. In the last few years, artificial intelligence (AI) has made impressive progress in the generation of images from text descriptions and reference images. State-of-the-art AI tools such as DALL-E2 can generate high-quality images from text prompts and can take a reference image to guide the process. In August 2022, DALL-E2 launched a new feature called outpainting that takes as input an incomplete image and a text prompt and then generates a complete image filling in the missing parts. In this paper, we explore whether this innovative technology can be used to perform virtual reconstruction of mosaics with missing parts. Hence, a set of ancient mosaics have been selected and DALL-E2 has been used to create virtual reconstructions; the results are promising, showing that AI is able to interpret the key features of the mosaics and is able to produce virtual reconstructions that capture the essence of the scene. However, in some cases AI does not reproduce some details or geometric forms or introduces elements that are not consistent with the rest of the mosaic. This suggests that when AI image generation technology matures in the next few years, it could be a valuable tool to create virtual reconstructions of mosaics in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
