It is worth noting that the report of I B. orthotrichacea i from the Falkland Islands (Ochyra & Broughton, 2004) was based on a misdetermination of I B. sudetica i (Funck) Bedn.-Ochyra & Ochyra (Ochyra I et al i ., 2015), as is the case with the record from the South Sandwich Islands (Convey I et al i ., 2000) which correctly refers to I B. didyma i (Mont.) Bedn.-Ochyra & Ochyra (Ochyra I et al i ., 2008). Hitherto, about 140 species of moss have been recorded from this archipelago and a number of them have been found during a recent bryological survey, including some species new to science (e.g. Bednarek-Ochyra & Ochyra, 1998; Ochyra & Poulsen, 2003; Ochyra, 2010; Ellis I et al i ., 2012a; Ochyra I et al i ., 2014).
