Prosocial relationships are beneficial to post-conviction reintegration, but criminal stigma may limit romantic relationship access. This study implements an experimental audit of speed dating, which allows people to meet several potential partners in a brief time, to explore how conviction disclosure, offense type, and attractiveness and personality ratings affect dating interest. Three women and three men confederates of different races/ethnicities were randomly assigned to a control or one of three offense conditions before interacting one-on-one with 64 participants in 4-minute Zoom Q&A speed dating sessions. Following each interaction, participants rated one another on attractiveness, personality dimensions, and interest in dating. Findings indicate that disclosure of property offense conviction significantly reduced women's willingness to date men confederates while assault and drug convictions did not negatively affect women's dating interest. Women confederate disclosures of convictions did not affect men's interest in dating them. Researching the effects of prior convictions on romantic relationship interest is challenging but important in revealing how criminal stigma varies by offense type to affect relationship capital. The purpose of the current field study was to investigate the relationships between personality traits and placebo responsiveness, and the effects of alcohol and placebo alcohol on the changes of the subjective state and behavior among participants (N = 64, gender ratio 50% men: 50% women, mean age = 26.64). We suggest that expectations associated with alcohol consumption itself can lead to subjective and objective inebriation, and some individuals respond better to placebo than others, so placebo reactivity is associated with certain personality traits. In the present field study, the effect of placebo alcohol is measured in a typical alcohol consumption social setting, and the study seeks to explore relationships among certain personality traits (sociability and extraversion, spirituality and religiosity and dispositional optimism) and placebo responsiveness, furthermore the effects of alcohol and placebo alcohol on subjective and objective intoxication. In this study, the expectation induced classical placebo effect in the field was successfully demonstrated, while no support for a relationship between personal traits and placebo responsiveness was found. This study bridges the gap between three industries, namely the dating industry, the event industry, and the hospitality industry. Because of the width and depth of speed dating events, this type of event is perfectly suitable to further discuss and formulate propositions in hospitality and event management studies. From a conceptual point view, this study is supporting the fact that a new type of event should be added to the existing ones developed by Getz and Page (2020). As a result, this study has coined 'Special Interest and Meso-adultainment events', as a new type of event. This type of event would include entertainment and recreational activities such as speed dating events, masochism bondage events, etc. From a practical point of view, this study has revealed the fact that speed dating events are not only meeting existing needs, but have some potential to grow. Without love--or, at least, its persistence as an idea--our cultural economy would collapse. Who else but the haves, the hopefuls and the have-nots of romantic liaison would sustain the business of restaurants, nightclubs and bars, not to mention the sale of films, books, music, magazines, of everything really? An Italian poet once wrote 'any time that is not spent on love is wasted.' Yet the marketing academy rarely engages in the business of lovemaking, at least in a scholarly capacity. This paper then, considers a potent manifestation of the search for love, speeddating--a form of dating that offers men and women the opportunity to partake in short, multiple dates in one night. It concludes with some guidance for lovers of marketing everywhere, distilled from the speeddating parable, contending that sagacity, self-confidence and courage, while important, are not nearly as fundamental as loving itself, which truly offers a route to marketing excellence. This article deals with a new scheduling problem that arises in the organization of one-to-one meetings in parallel. We first introduce applications of one-to-one meeting scheduling problems. This article is the first comprehensive review of speed dating in the tertiary sector. While speed dating has its origins as a networking technique to connect singles, it has only more recently made its way into the academy. Since 2005 universities world-wide have begun to adopt speed dating protocols as a tool for building research culture. An extensive review of the brief history of speed dating in university settings indicates that the motivation for organising events tends to fall into six clusters. Each motivation is discussed here, as well as two potential as-yet-unexplored outcomes for research students in academe: increasing wellbeing through improving social relations and aiding the conceptualising of theses. Studies of personal relationships have often been conducted in the laboratory, on the self-report questionnaire, or in the interview. In contrast, this article studies relationships via a corpus of 30 British speed-dating encounters between 30-45-year-old heterosexual couples, in which talk about previous relationships was pervasively relevant. The analysis examines how talk about prior relationships, and current relationship status, was occasioned and accounted for. The first section shows that, in the overall structure of the date, talk about relationship histories was located after talk about other matters (e.g., occupation, place of residence). Second, relationship history questions contained design features for managing the delicacy of answering them (e.g., trail-off “or” turn endings), as well as paired categorial items (e.g., a question about children was answered in terms of one's marital status and vice versa). In the final section, the analysis shows that and how participants treat some relationship histories as more accountable than others (e.g., being never married). The analysis revealed a more general set of accountabilities: of being single, of being previously unsuccessful in relationships, of being unable to meet people in natural settings, and, therefore, for attending speed-dating events. Overall, the article demonstrates the importance of examining the richly detailed brief encounters of social life, in order to better understand people's understandings of, troubles with, and goals for their personal relationships. Recent studies have found that mimicking the verbal and nonverbal behavior of strangers enhances their liking of the individual who mimicked them. An experiment was carried out in two bars during six sessions of speed dating for which young women confederates volunteered to mimic or not some verbal expressions and nonverbal behaviors of a man for 5 minutes. Data revealed that the men evaluated the dating interaction more positively when the woman mimicked them, and that mimicry was associated with a higher evaluation score of the relation and the sexual attractiveness of the woman. The article discusses the 'Enriched Educational Speed Dating' method developed by Central and South Manchester General Practice Specialty Training Program with a modification of Dan Lashbrooke's 'Educational Speed Dating.' The three phases to the method including preparation, the session and evaluation/reflection are described. The different areas to which the Enriched Educational Speed Dating method can be applied include to ascertain how much training ST3s were getting on commissioning.

Background: Junior faculty members have difficulty in identifying mentors. Speed dating permits people to efficiently try out interpersonal relationships. Aim: Evaluate a “speed mentoring” event to help junior faculty answer questions and initiate mentoring relationships. Methods: This single-group pre–post study involved junior (mentee) and senior (mentor) faculty members at an academic medical center. During the event, each mentee spent 10 min talking with each mentor in rotation. Results: Seven mentees and six mentors participated. All participants felt that time was well spent (mentees, mean [SD] = 6.3 [0.8] on a seven-point Likert scale [7 = strongly agree]; mentors, 5.7 [1.4]). Topics discussed included mentoring relationships, getting started in research, and time management.
