Industry 4.0 brings a revolution in using information and communication technologies within business activities. As such, Industry 4.0 enables important space for quality-related improvements but requires a sustained quality management system (QMS). The aim of this study is to predict the influence of ISO 9004:2018 QMS elements on Improvement, Learning, and Innovation achievements in Industry 4.0 using the SEM-ANN approach. The survey included 345 domestic and international companies of different types operating in Serbia. Conclusions demonstrate a direct positive influence between observed constructs (Leadership, Process Management, Resource Management, Performance Management) and Improvement, Learning, and Innovation. Only the Context and Identity of the organisation has a negative direction drawn from SEM analysis. Further, ANN verified SEM results, pointing out that all observed variables are seen as predictors of Improvement, Learning, and Innovation. The importance level corresponds to those elements' SEM ranking. The provincial elections in the Serbian region of Vojvodina are preconditioned to demonstrate the typical effects of second-order competition. Its main features include the weak competences of regional institutions in a specific shared-rule arrangement, which are limited to only one province, and a non-politicized regional identity. The trend of simultaneous voting, along with a recently aligned electoral system and a centralized political arena, has created a nationalized regional competition, emulating national political dynamics. This claim is substantiated through an analysis of candidates, campaigns, and results, as well as voters' behaviour, the last being operationalized through the dissimilarity index, both on the provincial level and on the level of polling-stations. Thirty years on from the collapse of Yugoslavia, the paths of the former constituent republics have diverged, with Slovenia and Croatia acceding to the European Union and the rest remaining hopeful Europeans. This article analyses this discrepancy through the lens of policy learning, conceptualising the process of accession as one of learning on the part of the candidate state, and uses social network analysis to identify the impact of informal political networks in parliaments of Croatia and Serbia on their respective EU accession processes. Two decades after the overthrow of the autocratic regime of Slobodan Milosevic, security intelligence agencies in Serbia are not only far from being reformed, but they play a central role in democracy decline and what many academics and policy officials describe as state capture. Intelligence agencies are among the first victims of state capture and among the major instruments in further capturing state institutions. This process has been a product of the agreed transition from autocracy to democracy that prevented bloodshed but maintained a clientelist relationship between (new) democratic leadership and the (old) security apparatus. Consequently, thorough intelligence reform never happened, resulting in the survival of agencies' strongholds of power, which facilitated the return to old secret police practice. It is not uncommon today that among important tasks of security intelligence are regime protection through suppression of political opposition and critical voices, as well as making sure that suspicious deals of those close to the ruling party run smoothly. This article aims to map and analyze events and processes that have led to these outcomes and describe how security intelligence is being instrumentalized by the ruling political party and its leader, Aleksandar Vucic. This study aimed at combined chemical and chemometric analysis of seasonal variation in trace element (TE) contents (B, Si, Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, and Zn) in Satureja kitaibelii Wierzb. ex Heuff. (savory) and its growing soil, with emphasis on potential aspects of health promotion. The lowest contents of the studied elements in the soil, except for silicon, were recorded in the vegetative stage. In the plant, the boron content is the highest: 10.5-14.9mg kg-1 and the chromium content is the lowest: 0.17-1.2mg kg-1. The highest values of soilto-plant transfer factor (TF) were recorded for five elements (except Si and Cr) in the vegetative stage. Savory can be considered an accumulator of boron. The statistical and chemometric analysis confirmed a variation in TE content of studied soil and plant samples. This study revealed that savory from Serbia to be a potential source of valuable TEs. A significant percentage of daily intake of B, Cr, and Ni, can be provided with three cups of tea per day of plants collected in the vegetative and flowering stages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study analyzes the 2020 Serbian election campaign in the context of institutional conditions of competition in a hybrid regime, comparing it to the regime of Slobodan Milosevic. The authors explore how electoral communication articulates social problems and solutions, and examine the impact of new information and communication technologies on political communication in hybrid regime. Taking into account the specific configuration of the public sphere inherited from the period of Milosević's rule and the comprehensive application of persuasive techniques, the authors come to several findings regarding electoral communication in Serbia: first, the election campaigns have not reified as a platform for addressing key political and identity issues; second, the development of new information and communication technologies and new means of promotion widen opportunities for propaganda, making hybrid regimes more resilient to internal pressures for democratization; and, third, given the institutional context in which electoral communication takes place, the question arises as to whether, in the institutional context of hybrid communication, one can speak of political marketing as opposed to merely a commercialized variant of political propaganda. In comparison to the (Western) European tradition, the development of music theory in Serbia has been quite short. Milan Milovuk's works, dating from the 1860s, were the first published theoretical writings in Serbian. Nevertheless, this development was substantial, leading from basic music theory in Milovuk's pioneering works to an interdisciplinary field of research that is fully integrated into today's global map of the discipline. Through this expansion, the status reconfiguration of music theory in Serbia took place from propaedeutics to an autonomous scientific field. However, the transformation of the discipline was not the subject of scientific research until recently. The questions about the nature of a musical-theoretical work, on what basis and with what convictions it is carried out, what kind of knowledge it produces, and what the impact of that knowledge is can be considered an exception in music theory writings in Serbian. Likewise, the legitimisation of certain types of musical-theoretical work about the discipline as a whole or its relevant parts has only recently become represented in our scientific literature. In this article, I investigate the reasons for the indicated epistemological certainty of music theory in Serbia and study the traces of its disciplinary legitimation in both diachronic (historical-developmental) and synchronic (theoretical–conceptual and methodological-epistemological) perspectives. This paper presents the investigation of the air-pollution management possibility in Bor (Serbia) using statistical analyses of the correlation dependence of SO2 pollution concentration and meteorological parameters. This kind of approach allows data to determine the shape of time trends; models serial correlation and dependence on covariance; and provides statistical analyses of data. Air quality control in the area of Bor is measured at four monitoring stations: City park; Institute of Mining and Metallurgy; Jugopetrol oil logistic centre and Brezonik suburb. There is also a meteorological station near the aforementioned institute that measures temperature; air humidity; atmosphere pressure; wind speed and direction. The results received from all monitoring stations are processed by the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy in Bor. The data from the reported documents were used for statistical analyses, for determining the correlation between SO2 emission concentration and meteorological parameters. The source of SO2 emissions is the local copper smelter, built within the town of Bor from 1961-1963. However, the disposition of the pollutant concentration is influenced by meteorological parameters (air humidity, atmosphere pressure, speed and wind direction). This paper investigates the relationship between regime type and foreign policy through the observational lens of the Serbian – Turkish bilateral relationship starting from 2009 to 2018. The approach was chosen to analyse sources of authoritarian power at the points of convergence between domestic and foreign policy, in a realm free from EU conditionality and the push towards liberal democracy. The article argues that investigating foreign direct investment (FDI) in hybrid regimes dependant on foreign capital provides more granular insight into the wielding and consolidation of incumbent power. An empirical examination of the mutual economic relations and the trajectory of the Turkish factory in Serbia indicate that, while Turkish FDI are of smaller financial worth than investments of EU actors, they are highly valuable in qualitatively portraying the complexity of political power. The paper employs the concept of hybridity more holistically to incorporate the regime ambivalence across the entire trio of politics, economy, and society, thus providing simultaneous insight into the embeddedness of informal mechanisms throughout formal institutions, the fusion of economic and political authorities, and the personalization of political power in Serbia. This study investigates the potential of fatty acid profiles of various industrial crops to discriminate them based on their botanical origin. All of the analyzed plants were grown on experimental fields at Rimski Šančevi, Republic of Serbia. Cereal samples (corn, wheat, barley, and oat) were milled into flour and lipid fractions were extracted using n-hexane. Lipid fractions of oilseed samples (rape, flax, safflower, and pumpkin) were obtained by mechanical pressing. The fatty acids present in lipid fractions, were derivatized into corresponding volatile methyl esters (FAMEs) and determined on a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry instrument (GC-MS). Peaks of eluting compounds were simultaneously identified using mass spectra libraries, giving a match quality of over 90%. The peaks of molecular ions of methyl esters of 9 dominant fatty acids were extracted, and their abundances used to create numerical matrices for further data processing. Chemometric multivariate data analysis tools—principal component analysis (PCA), cluster analysis (CA), principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA), were used to extract significant variables, visualize discriminations, and classify between analyzed plant samples. The applied tools demonstrated separations of analyzed cereals in three groups: corn, oat and the samples of small grains—wheat and barley. In the case of oilseeds a clear separation between all four plant species was obtained. It also has good conditions for electricity production and heat energy from renewable resources. The aim is to research and represent the development possibility of a country in a sector of a RES, uncovering proven potential of renewable energy, emphasizing that unused potential of RES, together with energy sector, will create great opportunities and conditions for new market. Variability of eight morpho-anatomical characters of 2-year-old needles of the Bosnian pine (Pinus heldreichiiChrist.), collected from natural populations in Montenegro (Lovćen, Zeletin and Bjelasica) and Serbia (Zlatibor-Pešter) were investigated. The needles have 0–13 resin ducts, predominantly of the medial type (settled in mesophyll tissue). The average values were as follows: 7.86 cm (needle length), 1.44 mm (needle width), 0.85 mm (needle thickness), 20.82 μm (cuticle+epidermis thickness), 21.08 μm (height of hypodermal cells), 3.31 (number of hypodermis layers), 4 (number of resin ducts)57.05 μm (resin duct diameter). Needle width and thickness were the most variable characters. Recent international criminal trials of incitement have brought about a novel precedent for prosecuting war propagandists that not only moves incitement from being inchoate to causally proven but also neglects the voices of perpetrators. Following recent ethnographic research in Rwanda, this article examines the new precedent and suggests that incitement should return to being inchoate. The discussion centres on interview data collected among Serbian veterans of the Yugoslav Wars about the degree to which wartime media motivated them during the breakup of Yugoslavia and interview data collected among Serbian prosecutors about the alleged influence of Serbian wartime media. Serbian veterans report that they were not motivated by wartime media but rather former conflicts, peer-to-peer stories on the frontline and evident threats to Serbs. Moreover, prosecutors’ assumptions about the influence of war propaganda and the unwillingness to interview ‘perpetrators’ about their motivations illuminate the complexities of post-conflict justice in Serbia. This article explores early childhood professionalism in the Republic of Serbia. The concept of professionalism in this context is examined in light of current international debates about professionalism. More specifically, how the use of specific nomenclature, the existence of multi-professional teams of practitioners and state-regulated but locally governed Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services, contribute to the concept of professionalism in Serbia. It is argued that there is a clear sense of a distinct profession embedded in the professional titlevaspitač. However, this title also reveals the societal view of the aims as well as the status of the profession as focused on children's ‘upbringing’ rather than their education. The educational requirements, which parallel those of teachers in other parts of the education sector, demonstrate a protected or distinctive occupational identity for preschool teachers. Several factors important for professionalism are discussed, including the need for improvements in working conditions and salaries, more favourable employment prospects, union organisation and a more supportive infrastructure for a quality early childhood sector. This article studies the geopolitical traditions of spatial imagining of Serbia amongst the country’s political elites since the break-up of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. It examines some of the socially dominant discourses of spatial positioning of Serbia as a historical-political narrative. The study argues that one can identify five distinct geopolitical traditions that, in variably overlapping or mutually contradicting ways, address two questions: ‘Where is Serbia’ and ‘How is its perceived smallness felt and described’? A first tradition is that which attributes sacred, divine and martyr-like features to the country, its small earthly “Serbian lands” and people. A second tradition conveys spatially maximised and biopolitical visions of “Serbdom”, amounting to variable designs of a “Greater Serbia” anxious about its felt frontiers and smallness. The final three traditions are the mutually exclusive positioning of Serbia around an East-West axis as either Eastern or Western, or a geographically unique and exceptional bridge between the two, whereby each positioning recasts smallness as a crucial feature of geopolitical exceptionality. A correction to the article "Investigation of the correlation dependence between SO2 emission concentration and meteorological parameters: Case study—Bor (Serbia)" that was published in the 2010 issue is presented.

The aim of this work was the development and application of the pilot plant with the capacity of 1000 L/day for the purification of groundwater used for human consumption characterized with high concentration of arsenic and increased values of organic pollutants, ammonia, nitrites, color and turbidity. For that purpose, groundwater from the production wells supplying the towns Zrenjanin and Temerin (Vojvodina, Serbia) was used. Due to its complex composition, the purification system required the combination of the electroreduction/electrocoagulation, using iron and aluminum electrode plates with/without ozonation, followed by the electromagnetic treatment and the finally by the simultaneous ozonation/UV treatment. The electroreduction was used for the removal of nitrates, nitrites, and Cr(VI), while the removal of arsenic, heavy metals, suspended solids, color and turbidity required the application of the electrocoagulation with simultaneous ozonation. Organic contaminants and ammonia were removed completely in the last treatment step by applying the simultaneous ozonation/UV treatment. All measured parameters in the purified water were significantly lower compared to the regulated values. Under the optimum treatment conditions, the removal efficiencies for color, turbidity, suspended solids, total arsenic, total chromium, Ni(II), total copper, sulfates, fluorides, chemical oxygen demand, ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites were 100%. The removal efficiencies of the total manganese and iron were 85.19% and 97.44%, respectively, whilst the final concentrations were 4 and 7 μg/L, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

The article deals with the formation of the social biographies of young people through the interplay of structure and agency. The aim is to provide a grounded typology of patterns of young people's agency within the process of shaping social biographies. The structural context addressed in the article consists of family resources and habitus. The evidence comes from a longitudinal qualitative study with young people from families of workers and families of professionals in two urban neighbourhoods in Belgrade. The narrative analysis of young people's agency that combines longitudinal biographical data and lifelines accounts comes from case studies from the last wave of research. Several patterns of young people's agency that have emerged are explored as related to structural opportunities/constraints, and family habitus. It is argued that family resources and support are mechanisms by which social inequality in Serbian society is reproduced during transition to adulthood. The article provides an analysis of the determinants of the success of transitions to democracy based on a combination of qualitative comparative analysis of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia; and hierarchical clustering. The Serbian collaborationist administration, The Council of Commissaries and National Salvation's Government, between May 1941 and October 1944 in shaping its political programme and ideology mixed ultraconservative nationalism with elements of domestic version of fascist, authoritarian 'sociology'. The main elements were mythologisation of the village and patriarchal life in the rural extended family community, as the only acceptable model for the spiritual and political 'renaissance' of Serbia - an authoritarian, 'organic', peasant state - as a future member of German New European Order. General Nedic from the end of August 1941 head of the National Salvation's Government presented to the German authorities, in January 1943, his ambitious and detailed plan for the reorganisation of the domestic political system, based on these ideas, which Berlin resolutely rejected. Reactions in Serbia to the death of Slobodan Milosevic are explored in this article. Data from two rounds of semi-structured interviews, in 2004 and 2006, are compared to discover whether Milosevica's death has affected the way the interviewees perceive him and how they reacted to the news of his death. It is argued that although Milosevic is no longer alive, the way in which he is remembered and popularly perceived continues to have some influence on Serbia's future. Finally, events in Belgrade on the day of Milosevic's funeral are examined and the argument is posited that Serbia's reaction to the former leader's death has important policy significance, which should not be ignored by Western governments. For a long period of time, the family and the household have not been considered agents in the economic sphere. However, in contemporary theoretical and research practice we are witnessing a rehabilitation of this aspect of family activity. The importance of the broader social and economic impact of this activity of families and households is legitimated through the concepts of social capital and household strategies in the labor sphere. This paper presents the results of three successive representative empirical studies of households in Serbia between 1991 and 2006. The main goal of these studies was to observe the problems households and families are facing in the transition process. The specific profile of Serbia's transition path, determined by numerous societal disturbances, is emphasized. The relation between the work sphere and the family sphere is viewed through five forms of the working status and activities of household members. Research results show a remarkable proliferation of informal work activities, which enable the survival of households in the circumstances of high unemployment and low wages in the formal labor sector. In Serbia, culture is never far removed from politics. When writing about the relationship between politics and folklore, the Serbian ethnologist Ivan &Ctilde;olović commented that Serbian politics is saturated with folklore and that, from the late 1980s, every political leader, without exception, every political programme and every political battle made reference to folkloric texts that resorted to a raft of traditional clichés. The main vehicle for carrying the imagery, values and antagonisms of these mythical tales has been the pesma, which may be translated as either 'poem' or 'song' since the words in Serbian are interchangeable. Indeed, the traditional song has long been embedded in Serbian cultural identity, and has been inspiring Serbian nationalism since the nineteenth century. In the 1990s the stimulation of nationalism by popular and traditional Serbian songs involved a process of ethnification--a cult of the folkloric--in which popular music contributed to the estrangement, alienation and distancing of the Other. This was both a process with roots long buried in the past, as well as one that continued to flourish at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Hudson explores the impact of culture on Serbian politics, especially from the perspective of the relationship between identity formation and ethnic conflict. He investigates the links between popular musical forms and nationalism in Serbia, through an analysis of the lyrics, language and meanings of a selection of songs in a variety of different musical genres that were popular between the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century.
