This paper aims to measure the satisfaction level of tourists on the attributes associated with adventure lodges. The Holiday Satisfaction Model (HOLSAT) was used to determine the gaps between the expectations of tourists and the experience on 21 adventure lodges attributes. Results were drawn from a questionnaire survey of 280 Malaysian and international tourists who visited the Tadom Hill Resorts located in Selangor, Malaysia in 2018. Data derived from the analysis was plotted into a two-dimensional graph showing the mean score for expectations (Y-axis) plotted against the mean score of experiences (X-axis). Findings reveal that only three attributes gave the most satisfaction to tourists with a significant level at 0.001, with one attribute showing a significant level of dissatisfaction by the tourists. Therefore, the attributes that failed to satisfy tourists should be further investigated to develop strategies to attract tourists and the development of the adventure tourism industry in Malaysia. This paper aims to study forest fires from risk maps and satellite data in order to predict the location of the burnt zones they provoke. The approach is based on the discrete stochastic model of a random spread, which describes both fire fronts and burnt areas. Under iteration, it provides the time evolution of the process. The probabilities of spontaneous extinction at each stage are derived. The random spread model is then applied to analyse the fires that occurred in the State of Selangor (Malaysia) from 2001 to 2004. It is used, first, to simulate forest fires, according to a law of intensity (fuel combustion) and another of extension (spread rate). But the next, and more important, result lies in the ability of the model to predict all places where burnt scars actually occurred, which turns out to be a significant verification. Dubbed the 'political tsunami', the 8 March 2008 elections in Malaysia gave overwhelming results. Selangor is one of the five states now governed by the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. This was a significant win, being the most urban and lucrative state of the country. It has been considered a model state for the Pakatan Rakyat in its desire to position itself as an alternative federal government. This has been the mandate of the new Selangor government, but its execution has been accompanied by numerous obstacles. This paper analyses the distinctive reform measures undertaken by the state government, the challenges faced, ensuing political transformation, and long-term prospects for Pakatan Rakyat in Selangor. Surface water pollution is a huge issue worldwide that keeps growing in magnitude and complexity which leads to millions of people don't have access to clean water resource. Numerous studies on vulnerability, hazard and risk assessment of water pollution had been conducted yet most of them only focused on one of the three risk components. Therefore, the objective of this study was to apply a geospatial approach that integrated hydrogeological and anthropogenic parameters to assess the risk of surface water pollution in Selangor River Basin, Malaysia. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) were applied in hydrogeological vulnerability assessment. WRASTIC index was used in anthropogenic hazard assessment. The risk map showed that high-risk zones were mainly located in areas where development and agricultural activities are extensive. Conversely, low-risk zones were in areas that were mostly covered by forest with few developments, such as the upstream region. The results also revealed that high and very risk levels were dependent on soil media and presence of land use and anthropogenic activity especially agriculture, industry, and wastewater presence. The risk map also showed that developed area with high hydrogeological vulnerability would have higher risk of pollution compared to areas without any anthropogenic hazard. Government health agencies throughout the world have implemented the healthy cafeteria initiative at hospitals to cultivate healthy eating practices as an effort to combat the continuously high prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCD). In Malaysia, this initiative is known as 'Kafeteria Sihat'. This initiative is one of the lifestyle intervention programs for that community under the first National Strategic Plan for Non-Communicable Diseases and later integrated into the third National Plan of Action for Nutrition Malaysia NPANM III. The present study aims to evaluate customers' level of acceptance toward 'Kafeteria Sihat' through a newly developed structured questionnaire with the option of answering 4 additional subjective questions. A better understanding of customers' overall acceptance can potentially indicate how these cafeterias have been performing in terms of customer retention. Eleven public hospitals in Selangor and Putrajaya were visited for survey purposes. The data were analyzed through frequency tests and descriptive statistics. Overall, the findings indicated that the acceptance of customers toward 'Kafeteria Sihat' was at an average level. Generally, continuous effort between the Ministry of Health and cafeteria operators is essential in creating a better awareness of the existence of 'Kafeteria Sihat' as a platform to cultivate healthy eating practices. The retail landscape in Malaysia is transforming from a traditional to a modern retail format. The large retailers are increasing their dominance over small shops in the country by offering their customers a wide stock of fresh food products. The small shops are still surviving, although with difficulty, and they continue to provide a choice of shopping venue. The objective of this study is to show the advantages of both the modern and traditional retailers that are available to Malaysian consumers and to investigate what determines consumers’ shopping preferences for their retail format. A structured questionnaire was constructed to gather shopping preferences from 650 respondents in Selangor. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and binary logit model were used to analyze the data. The results show that sociodemographic variables such as age, education, being accompanied by children while shopping, and family size as well as packaging, store environment, and price of products have influence on retail format choice. This study provides the first investigation on the occurrence of human pharmaceuticals in the tropical aquatic environment of Malaysia. Water samples were collected at seven different sites along the Langat River and effluents from five sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Langat River Basin. Samples were extracted by solid phase extraction (SPE) and analyzed using liquid chromatography coupled with a tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for 18 pharmaceuticals from six therapeutic classes and one metabolite. Fifteen out of these 19 pharmaceuticals were detected in the river water samples. Mefenamic acid, salicylic acid and glibenclamide were detected in all river water samples indicating their ubiquitous nature and resistance to degradation under the warm and humid tropical conditions. The article describes the Batang Kali incident in which a number of Chinese workers were shot dead by the British army in circumstances which have never been satisfactorily explained. The author, who published a history of the Malayan Emergency some years ago, sets the incident in the wider context of British policy in the somewhat confused early months of the Emergency. He then chronicles the subsequent attempts to re-examine events. He then examines various suggestions that British policy was in general one of deliberate counterterror and concludes that the available evidence does not really substantiate this charge.
