Sustainable infrastructure represents a tremendous opportunity as a catalyst for addressing socioeconomic challenges, restoring economic advancement, and preserving biodiversity. Nevertheless, the potential of key policy and institutional modifications to raise the profile of green infrastructure remains limited. This paper examines the top-down initiatives implemented by the Malaysia government to encapsulate all efforts to adapt the country to sustainable infrastructure development. The paper highlights the evolution of green and sustainable development in Malaysia by incorporating fiscal, institutional, legislative, and regulatory mechanisms into the country's national plan. The comprehensive review of the integration of green and sustainable approaches into current initiatives offers a holistic perspective on Malaysia's progress towards achieving sustainable development and becoming a climate-resilient nation. The detailed information provided on the current establishment can further serve as a basis for future discussions regarding the formulation of more innovative solutions for Malaysia to ensure the implementation of sustainable and resilient development. Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) have been regarded as one of the most promising alternatives to tackle the concern on energy dependence and climate change. Despite various efforts in promoting NGVs, the acceptance of NGVs as an alternative fuel vehicle still remains as a challenge to many countries (including Malaysia). As such, an up-to-date and in-depth analysis is certainly required to analyze the market penetration of NGVs especially in the developing countries. In particular for the context of Malaysia, this paper aims to examine the acceptance behavior of private car users on NGVs (in comparison to conventional vehicle) for which the targeted respondents comprises current NGV users as well as non-NGV users. The acceptance behavior analysis also examines numerous aspects in affecting the perceptions of car users on NGV usage. Besides, the intention of NGV users to recommend NGV to the others is investigated. The acceptance behavior analysis is carried out by using discrete choice approach based on the undertaken revealed and stated preference survey. Concisely, the results show that it is promising to boost the NGV usage in Malaysia. The findings revealed that the perceptions of car users towards NGV usage are greatly influenced by numerous factors, namely government policy, market value of NGV, convenience & accessibility, green & technology concern and also the influence of family, friends & colleagues. Competitiveness is the goal sought after by governments and private sectors of many developing countries, including Malaysia. The study used net social profits (NSP) at the production level and the Porter diamond approach at the firms’ level to evaluate the competitiveness of 16 food-processing sectors from 2000 to 2008. The results indicate that processed-food industries have a comparative advantage but at a different magnitude. A time trend was fitted to track the dynamic NSP indices where positive trends indicate improvement in competitiveness. The range of NSP indices is quite wide, from RM 1,707.70 for snacks to RM 35.36 for vegetable and animal oils and fats, reflecting the need to improve resource allocation from low to high comparative advantage sectors. The NSP trend and Porter diamond conditions (demand condition, factor inputs, firm strategy and rivalry, and related supporting industries) suggested that the food processing cluster is gaining competitiveness.
