Monocrystalline silicon wafers find its use in semiconductor industries for a variety of applications. Therefore, its surface finish is of prime importance. The surface finish of Si (100) for semiconductor application should have nanofinishing characteristics that resemble mirror-like surface characteristics of polished Si (100). The present paper outlines the comparative study of nanofinishing of monocrystalline silicon wafers, i.e., Si (100) using double disk magnetic abrasive finishing and allied processes. Starting from the chemical etching of Si (100) wafer in KOH solution and polishing by DDMAF process, the implementation of chemical oxidizers in the polishing region with constant flow rate and application of ultrasonic vibrations, the work highlights the consistent improvement in finishing efficacy.

An experimental study has been conducted for natural convection heat transfer over the outer surface of circular finned and unfinned helical coil heat exchanger. Hot water flowing in the range of 1–3 l/min has been taken as working fluid and is cooled by ambient air at 32.5 ± 0.1 °C. The volume flow rate of hot water covers the Reynolds number from 4230 to 12,720 and Prandtl number around 3.7. The temperature of hot water at the inlet of test section is maintained at 50 ± 0.1 °C. The heat transfer rate of hot water has been investigated. Better outside heat transfer coefficient has been found for circular finned helical coil heat exchanger than unfinned one. It is also observed that the temperature drop decreases with increase in hot water flowing through test section.

Humans utilize many muscles to produce intelligible speech, including lips, face and throat. Dysarthria is a speech disorder that surfaces when one has weal muscles due to brain damage. Primary characteristics of a dysarthric patient are slurred and slow speech that can be difficult to understand based on the severity of the condition. This paper proposes an approach to improve the intelligibility of the dysarthric speech using a simple yet effective speech-transformation technique such as warping the frequency of LPC poles and mapping coefficients of linear predictive coding. This technique was applied to dysarthric audio from the UA-speech database to obtain the desired results. Both objective and subjective measures are used to evaluate the transformed speech. The obtained results pointed towards a significant improvement in the dysarthric speech’s intelligibility. This method can be used to develop special voice-enabled search platforms for dysarthric patients and in helping rehabilitation of the patients by developing a speech therapy based on auditory feedback.

Regression testing, testing is done on the changes made in existing software to check whether the existing software is working properly or not after the changes has been done. Therefore, retesting is performed to detect the new faults found. This type of testing is performed again and again after the changes have been made in the pre-existing software. Various methods are used for test case reduction and optimization for a web service. Regression testing creates a large number of test suites which consumes a lot of time in testing and many other problems are faced. Therefore, some technique or method should be used so that number of test cases are reduced and also test cases can be prioritized keeping in mind the time and budget constraints. The test case reduction and prioritization need to be achieved depending on various parameters such as branch coverage and also on basis of fault coverage etc. Therefore, this paper discusses about the analysis of the code of a web service and the technique used to analyze a web service based on branch or code coverage and also the fault detection for test case reduction and prioritization is bacteriologic algorithm (BA). The test cases generated and also other requirements are mapped with the branch coverage and fault coverage of the code of the web service.

Children in India suffer from the highest level of undernourishment in the world, having serious effects on health. Bihar, in turn, has the highest incidence in India. This study was taken up to ascertain the effect of clusterization on a large dataset with respect to analyzes of the association of multitude of variables with malnutrition indices. Raw data were obtained using secondary data sources, especially government reports pertaining to malnutrition indices, demographic, social, nutritional, economic and medical factors causing malnutrition. In stage one the variables from un-clustered data were correlated with malnutrition indices (Stunting, wasting and underweight). Subsequently, the data was split using RapidMiner Studio (version-7.2.003) into three clusters. This segregation was done by the software using k-means and hierarchical agglomerative clustering. In the second phase, each of these clusters was again analyzed using the software and the correlation results were compared. Significant variation was observed in most of the correlations in the clustered and un-clustered datasets. This indicates the importance of clusterization in reaching the truth when a statistical analysis is carried out, as clusterization excludes/segregates the outliers/extremes of values. This has significant implications in policy making for malnutrition control, through identifying the most relevant variables/factors responsible.

Stream ordering and analysis of tree networks are necessary for understanding graph data structures. The idea of stream ordering finds its base in hydrology and open networks. Large dataset representations of such networks are difficult to process for analysis. In this paper, the stream ordering concept has been extended to a general class of structures characterized by open network semantics. A new algorithm has been proposed for analyzing tree networks and hierarchal subdivision of network segments through traversal, with minimal and generic computation over Arc–Node topological data sets. The algorithm has been implemented as a case study for understanding the complexity and calculation of manhole invert levels of sewer network of wastewater utility in the capital city of Delhi.

Quantum Computing is the study of evolving computing technology. It works with qubits (quantum bits), unlike classical computing (which works on classical bits). A quantum computer can do multiple tasks at a time and that’s why they are more efficient than traditional computers. In this paper, it has been thoroughly discussed about qubits, Superposition of qubits, gates, Superdense Coding, quantum programming languages and specially algorithms and how they are better than the best known classical algorithms. There is an exponential speedup in many of the operations performed by quantum algorithms as compared to classical algorithms. They are compared on their complexities. Most highly recognized algorithms in the field of quantum computing are: Grover’s algorithm for database search and Shor’s algorithm for factoring large integers into two prime numbers efficiently. In future, if quantum computers are made, it would be easier to encrypt the information that should not be revealed such as government databases in a new and secure way. Here, we will discuss about the commands used in quantum computing language (QCL) and mathematical proofs of few of the algorithms such as Deutsch–Jozsa algorithm, etc.
