Manganese (Mn) is an essential microelement for broiler breeding and its deficiency causes tibial dyschondroplasia (TD). Tibial growth plate (TGP) development and metaphyseal vascularization are crucial for tibia growth in fast-growing broiler chickens, but their roles in Mn deficiency-induced TD in chicks remain unclear. This study was designed to clarify this issue. A total of 36 one-day-old broilers were divided into the control group and Mn-deficiency (Mn-D) group, which were fed with a standard diet (60 mg Mn/kg) and Mn deficiency diet (22 mg Mn/kg) for 42 days, respectively. TGP and proximal tibial metaphysis were collected to perform the related assays. This study found that Mn deficiency decreased the tibia length and TGP thickness in the TD model. Also, Mn deficiency increased the irregular and white tibial dyschondroplasia lesions (TDL) region under the TGP, and reduced the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF). Combined with histological assessment, it was suggested that Manganese deficiency inhibited angiogenesis in the proximal tibial metaphysis. Meanwhile, Mn deficiency enhanced the expression levels of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 α (HIF-1α), autophagy-related protein 5 (ATG5), and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 β (LC3-II) in TGP, but decreased the expression level of SQSTM1 (P62), which suggested that autophagy was activated during this process. Collectively, these data indicate that HIF-1α up-regulation and concurrent autophagy activation exert a protective effect against Mn deficiency-induced angiogenesis inhibition, which may provide useful guidance to prevent TD in broilers.

Dysphagia is one of the most common complications of anterior cervical spine surgery. Local steroid was widely used to reduce the postoperative swallowing pain. However, the effect of local steroid application on dysphagia after anterior cervical spine surgery was still uncertain.We searched Medline (PubMed), Embase and the Cochrane Library on July 27, 2021 for studies investigating the effect of local steroid application on dysphagia after anterior cervical spine surgery from their date of inception to 2021. The relative risk or weighted mean difference with 95% confidence interval was recorded as a summary statistic consist of postoperative dysphagia, swallowing VAS scores, SWAL-QOL scores, PSTSI, and steroid related complications.This meta-analysis included 7 RCT studies involving 254 patients in the steroid group and 232 patients in the placebo group. Results showed local steroid group had less patients with dysphagia, lower swallowing VAS scores and less severe of prevertebral soft-tissue edema on the fourth day after surgery. No significant difference in non-fusion rate between the two groups was observed. And all included studies had no serious steroid related complications reported.The use of local steroid in anterior cervical spine surgery could reduce the early postoperative dysphagia without serious steroid related complication. However, the safety of local steroid application still need further studies with larger samples.

Manganese (Mn) is an essential trace element for broiler chickens; its deficiency causes tibial dyschondroplasia (TD) characterized by lameness and growth retardation. Inorganic and organic manganese sources are used in global poultry production, but there is a lack of systematic investigations to compare the bioavailability among them. In this study, 120 1-day-old Arbor Acres (AA) broilers were randomly divided into four groups (n = 30), i.e., control group (Mn sulfate, 60 mg/kg), Mn-D group (Mn deficiency, 22 mg/kg), Mn-Gly group (Mn glycinate, 60 mg/kg), and Mn-Pro group (Mn proteinate, 60 mg/kg). During the 42-day experiment, growth performance, tibial bone parameters, pathological index changes, serum biochemical changes, and oxidative stress indicators were evaluated. These results not only suggested that Mn plays a crucial role in the normal development of tibia and the maintenance of redox homeostasis in broilers, but also proved that organic Mn supplementation, especially Mn proteinate, improved the tibia development and the absorption efficiency, as well as overall oxidative stress status of broilers, suggesting that it had greater bioavailability than inorganic Mn. Thus, application of organic Mn source may be an effective way to reduce economic losses and resolve animal welfare concerns due to TD in commercial poultry farming.

Manganese (Mn) is a crucial trace element for poultry nutrition, and its deficiency compromises tibial cartilage development, leading to perosis and a higher incidence of slipped tendon. Tibial dyschondroplasia (TD) is a metabolic cartilage disease characterized by disruption of endochondral bone formation, which is closely related to extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation, in which Mn deficiency plays an important role. Previous studies have confirmed the role of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the pathogenesis of TD, but whether dysregulated ECM degradation and MMP expression profiles in growth plate are involved in Mn deficiency-induced avian TD has not been fully elucidated yet. Thus, this study was conducted to clarify these issues. Firstly, we successfully established TD model induced by Mn deficiency in broiler chicks. Mn deficiency decreased the number of chondrocytes, contents of proteoglycan, and type II collagen in tibial growth plate, demonstrating the tibial growth plate damage with enhanced ECM degradation. Also, Mn deficiency inhibited the Nrf2 signaling pathway and enhanced the protein levels of NLRP3, active caspase-1, and active IL-1β in tibial growth plate, indicating the oxidative stress and inflammatory response in Mn deficiency-induced TD. Additionally, upregulated expression levels of MMPs (MMP1, 9, and 13) were observed in tibial growth plate of Mn deficiency group. In summary, these findings suggest that Mn deficiency-enhanced ECM degradation is involved in avian TD, which may be correlated with oxidative stress, inflammatory response, and upregulation of MMPs.

This study aims at evaluating the effects of RTS (rotation softened trauma fixation system) compared with PCPSF (percutaneous conventional pedicle screw fixation) on type A thoracolumbar fractures. In this retrospective cohort study, 116 patients with type A thoracolumbar fractures from March 2014 to June 2018 were enrolled. PCPSF was performed in 60 patients, meanwhile the other 56 patients accepted RTS. VAS scores, Cobb angle, anterior vertebral height (AVH) and perioperative data were compared between the two groups. Both groups were consistent with baseline on demographic and clinical characteristics. No significant difference was observed in VAS score between-group before and after operation. One year after surgery, the VAS score of RTS group was lower than that of PCPSF group (0.7 ± 0.3 vs. 1.5 ± 0.4). The postoperative AVH (%) in PCPSF was 82.3% (95%CI, 81.7–84.6), and 91.78% (95% CI, 91.1–92.4) in RTS. The postoperative improvement rate of AVH (%) in RTS was higher than that in PCPSF (30.6 ± 5.0 [95% CI, 29.2–32.0] vs. 22.0 ± 7.3 [95% CI, 20.2–24.2]). The postoperative Cobb angle (°) in PCPSF was 2.6 ± 3.4 (95%CI,11.7–13.5), and 7.5 ± 2.0 (95%CI,7.0–8.0) in RTS. The postoperative correction of Cobb angle (°) in RTS was higher than that in PCPSF (16.1 ± 3.8 95%CI,15.1–17.1] vs. 11.6 ± 5.2 95%CI,10.3–13.1]). Compared with PCPSF, RTS has advantages in restoring the anterior vertebral height and reducing local kyphosis.

Background Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype and occurs in approximately 15–20% of diagnosed breast cancers. TNBC is characterized by its highly metastatic and recurrent features, as well as a lack of specific targets and targeted therapeutics. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is highly expressed in a variety of tumors, especially in TNBC. LR004-VC-MMAE is a new EGFR-targeting antibody–drug conjugate produced by our laboratory. This study aimed to evaluate its antitumor activities against EGFR-positive TNBC and further studied its possible mechanism of antitumor action. Methods LR004-VC-MMAE was prepared by coupling a cytotoxic payload (MMAE) to an anti-EGFR antibody (LR004) via a linker, and the drug-to-antibody ratio (DAR) was analyzed by HIC-HPLC. The gene expression of EGFR in a series of breast cancer cell lines was assessed using a publicly available microarray dataset (GSE41313) and Western blotting. MDA-MB-468 and MDA-MB-231 cells were treated with LR004-VC-MMAE (0, 0.0066, 0.066, 0.66, 6.6 nmol/L), and the inhibitory effects of LR004-VC-MMAE on cell proliferation were examined by CCK-8 and colony formation. The migration and invasion capacity of MDA-MB-468 and MDA-MB-231 cells were tested at different LR004-VC-MMAE concentrations (2.5 and 5 nmol/L) with wound healing and Transwell invasion assays. Flow cytometric analysis and tumorsphere-forming assays were used to detect the killing effects of LR004-VC-MMAE on cancer stem cells in MDA-MB-468 and MDA-MB-231 cells. The mouse xenograft models were also used to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of LR004-VC-MMAE in vivo. Briefly, BALB/c nude mice were subcutaneously inoculated with MDA-MB-468 or MDA-MB-231 cells. Then they were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 6 per group) and treated with PBS, naked LR004 (10 mg/kg), LR004-VC-MMAE (10 mg/kg), or doxorubicin, respectively. Tumor sizes and the body weights of mice were measured every 4 days. The effects of LR004-VC-MMAE on apoptosis and cell cycle distribution were analyzed by flow cytometry. Western blotting was used to detect the effects of LR004-VC-MMAE on EGFR, ERK, MEK phosphorylation and tumor stemness marker gene expression. Results LR004-VC-MMAE with a DAR of 4.02 were obtained. The expression of EGFR was found to be significantly higher in TNBC cells compared with non-TNBC cells (P 50 values of MDA-MB-468 and MDA-MB-231 cells treated with LR004-VC-MMAE for 72 h were (0.13 ± 0.02) nmol/L and (0.66 ± 0.06) nmol/L, respectively, which were significantly lower than that of cells treated with MMAE [(3.20 ± 0.60) nmol/L, P P 2/M phase in MDA-MB-468 [(34 ± 5)% vs. (12 ± 2)%, P P Conclusions LR004-VC-MMAE showed effective antitumor activity by inhibiting the activation of EGFR signaling and the expression of cancer stemness marker genes. It might be a promising therapeutic candidate and provides a potential therapeutic avenue for the treatment of EGFR-positive TNBC.

To investigate the anatomical and biomechanical feasibility of the unilateral C1 double screw [pedicle screw (PS) + lateral mass screw (LMS)] and ipsilateral C2 PS combined with contralateral C2 laminar screw (LS)-rod fixation for atlantoaxial instability by comparison with traditional posterior fixation methods. Fifteen sets of complete dry bony specimens of atlas were used for morphometric analysis. The working length, width and thickness of the C1 PSs and LMSs were manually measured. Ten fresh-frozen cervical spines (C0–C7) were used to complete the range of motion (ROM) testing in their intact condition, under destabilization and after stabilization by the following procedures: unilateral C1–C2 PS rod fixation (Group A), bilateral C1–C2 PS rod fixation (Group B), and unilateral C1 double screw and ipsilateral C2 PS combined with contralateral C2 LS rod fixation (Group C). The working thickness of the C1 PS was ≤ 3.5 mm in only one (1/15 = 6.7%) specimen. The other parameters were > 3.5 mm in all specimens. In the ROM test, all fixation groups showed significantly reduced flexibility in all directions compared with both the intact and destabilization groups. Further, Groups B and C showed better stability in all directions than Group A. However, no significant differences were observed between Groups B and C. The C1 unilateral lateral mass could mostly contain two screws(PS + LMS) with diameters ≤ 3.5 mm. The novel technique of unilateral C1 double screw and ipsilateral C2 PS combined with contralateral C2 LS rod fixation provided better stability than unilateral PS rod fixation and similar as bilateral PS rod fixation. Previous study has demonstrated that mitochondrial-dependent apoptotic pathway is involved in the nephroprotective effect of puerarin (PU) against lead-induced cytotoxicity in primary cultures of rat proximal tubular (rPT) cells. To further clarify how PU exerts its antiapoptotic effects, this study was designed to investigate the role of mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) and subsequent apoptotic events in the process of PU against Pb-induced cytotoxicity in rPT cells. The results showed that Pb-mediated mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening together with mitochondrial cytochrome c release, activations of caspase-9 and caspase-3, and subsequent poly-ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) cleavage can be effectively blocked by the addition of PU. Simultaneously, upregulation and downregulation of Bcl-2 and Bax with increased Bcl-2/Bax ratio due to PU administration further alleviated Pb-induced mitochondrial apoptosis. Moreover, PU can reverse Pb-induced ATP depletion by restoring mitochondrial fragmentation to affect ATP production and by regulating expression levels of ANT-1 and ANT-2 to improve ATP transport. In summary, PU produced a significant protection against Pb-induced mitochondrial apoptosis in rPT cells by inhibiting MPTP opening to ameliorate the mitochondrial dysfunction.

The severe local thermal trauma activates a number of systemic inflammatory mediators, such as TNF-α, NF-κB, resulting in a disruption of gut barrier. The gastrointestinal tight junction (TJ) is highly regulated by membrane-associated proteins including zonula occludens protein-1 (ZO-1) and occludin, which can be modulated by inflammatory cytokines. As splenectomy has been shown to reduce secretion of cytokines, we hypothesized that (1) severe scald injury up-regulates TNF-α and NF-κB, meanwhile down-regulates expression of ZO-1 and occludin, leading to the increased intestinal permeability, and (2) splenectomy can prevent the burn-induced decrease in ZO-1 and occludin expression, resulting in improved intestinal barrier. Wistar rats undergoing a 30% total body surface area (TBSA) thermal trauma were randomized to receive an accessorial splenectomy meanwhile or not. Intestinal injury was assessed by histological morphological analysis, and serum endotoxin levels, TNF-α, NF-κB, ZO-1 and occludin levels were detected by Western blotting in the terminal ileum mucosal tissue. 30% TBSA burn caused a significant increase in serum endotoxin levels, but NF-κB, and TNF-α, and the average intestinal villus height and mucosal thickness were decreased significantly. Magnesium alloy AZ31B sheets and 443 ferritic stainless steel were welded using the technique of resistance spot welding with cover plates under relatively low welding current condition. The interface layer can produce, and the molten Mg can wet the surface of the interface layer of Fe-Al intermetallic compound. Metallurgical study of spot joints shows the cracks situated in only sideway of AZ31 weldment in nugget under long welding time. The cause of cracks considering the Fe-Mg equilibrium phase diagram is associated with the possible thermal behavior of various elements in nugget during spot welding process. The almost amount of reaction product FeAl3 somewhere near the interface can produce almost vertical tension stress, resulting in parallel crack. The tensile strength of the spot joint increases at first and decreases afterward.

Our purpose was to investigate the effect of posterior scleral reinforcement (PSR) combined with patching therapy for pre-school children with unilateral high myopia. A total of 32 pre-school children with unilateral high myopia were recruited. They were randomly divided into the PSR and control group, each of which had 16 patients. The patients in the PSR group underwent the simplified PSR surgery followed by rigid gas permeable contact lens wear and traditional patching therapy, while the patients in the control group were only prescribed contact lens wear and patching. Patients were reviewed and the axial length, refraction, best-corrected visual acuity, and stereoscopic vision were respectively examined postoperatively at yearly intervals for three years. The best-corrected visual acuity was significantly higher in the PSR group than that in the control group at any study visit. A statistically significant difference in axial length was found between the PSR group (27.38 ± 1.30 mm) and the control group (28.29 ± 0.74 mm) at the postoperative three-year (p = 0.03) time point. There was a statistical difference in refractive error between the PSR group (-13.13 ± 2.55 D) and the control group (-15.42 ± 1.83 D) at 3-year follow-up. No significant difference was found between the two groups with respect to the stereoscopic vision by the end of follow-up at 3 years (p =0.103). PSR combined with the patching therapy has the potential to arrest the progression of high myopia and to help the treatment for amblyopia.

Manganese (Mn) deficiency can result in perosis in chicks, but the mechanism of Mn deficiency on tibia development remains poorly understood. Ninety one-day-old Arbor Acres male broiler chickens administered with control diet (60 mg Mn/kg) and Mn-deficient diets (40 mg Mn/kg, 8.7 mg Mn/kg) to investigate the effects of Mn deficiency on morphology of tibia and related signal transduction pathways in broiler chickens. At the age of 42 days, the bone trabecula, damaged osteoblasts and OPG/RANKL mRNA expression levels were investigated by histological assessment, electron microscopic examination and real-time quantitative PCR analysis, respectively. Results of histological observations showed that decreased trabecular thickness, trabecular number and trabecular bone area (%) together with increased trabecular bone separation were involved in perosis induced by Mn deficiency. The most striking ultrastructural modifications involved disruption of nuclear membrane and mitochondria outer membrane, loss of mitochondrion cristae and alteration in endoplasmic reticulum in osteoblasts of the Mn-deficient groups. Likewise, Mn deficiency results in a significant (P < 0.05) decrease in the relative mRNA expression levels of OPG and RANKL with a significantly higher RANKL/OPG ratio (P < 0.05). In conclusion, Mn deficiency can affect the development of tibia in broiler chickens, leading to metaphyseal osteoporosis which may be due to decreased OPG/RANKL mRNA expression.

The objective of this study was to investigate correlations between oxidative stress, metabolism of mineral elements, and lameness in dairy cows. Forty multiparous Chinese Holstein dairy cows were selected and divided into two groups (healthy vs lame, n = 20) by gait score. The experiment lasted for 60 days and samples of hair, blood, and hoof were collected at days 0, 30, and 60 of experiment period, individually. Compared with healthy cows, elevation of MDA, CTX-II, COMP levels, and GSSG/GSH ratio together with depletion of SOD and MT levels in the serum were revealed in lame cows. Simultaneously, significant decreased contents of Zn, Cu, and Mn in the serum, hair, and hoof samples were shown in lame cows, but there was no obvious difference in contents of P, Mg, and Ca (except hoof Ca) in the serum, hair, and hoof between healthy and lame cows. In addition, histological examination and the hardness test demonstrated a poor hoof quality in lame cows. In summary, oxidative stress is implicated in the pathogenesis of lameness caused by imbalance of nutrients (especially selective minerals promoting healthy hoof growth) in dairy cows.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of manganese (Mn) deficiency on chondrocyte development in tibia growth plate. Ninety 1-day-old Arbor Acres chicks were randomly divided into three groups and fed on control diet (60 mg Mn/kg diet) and manganese deficient diets (40 mg Mn/kg diet, manganese deficiency group I; 8.7 mg Mn/kg diet, manganese deficiency group II), respectively. The width of the proliferative zone of growth plate was measured by the microscope graticule. Chondrocyte apoptosis was estimated by TUNEL staining. Gene expression of p21 and Bcl-2, and expression of related proteins were analyzed by quantitative real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Compared with the control group, manganese deficiency significantly decreased the proliferative zone width and Bcl-2 mRNA expression level, while significantly increased the apoptotic rates and the expression level of p21 gene in chondrocytes. The results indicate that manganese deficiency had a negative effect on chondrocyte development, which was mediated by the inhibition of chondrocyte proliferation and promotion of chondrocyte apoptosis.

Pancreatic beta cells act as glucose sensors, in which intracellular ATP ([ATP](i)) are altered with glucose concentration change. The characterization of voltage-gated sodium channels under different [ATP](i) remains unclear. Here, we demonstrated that increasing [ATP](i) within a certain range of concentrations (2-8 mM) significantly enhanced the voltage-gated sodium channel currents, compared with 2 mM cytosolic ATP. This enhancement was attenuated by even high intracellular ATP (12 mM). Furthermore, elevated ATP modulated the sodium channel kinetics in a dose-dependent manner. Increased [ATP](i) shifted both the current-voltage curve and the voltage-dependent inactivation curve of sodium channel to the right. Finally, the sodium channel recovery from inactivation was significantly faster when the intracellular ATP level was increased, especially in 8 mM [ATP](i), which is an attainable concentration by the high glucose stimulation. In summary, our data suggested that elevated cytosolic ATP enhanced the activity of Na(+) channels, which may play essential roles in modulating β cell excitability and insulin release when blood glucose concentration increases.

A novel biopolymer, deoxyribonucleic acid-hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (DNA-HCTAC), is used as the core layer material in optical waveguide, and the cleanroom technology is successfully applied to fabricate the single-mode channel waveguides with low propagation loss. The prepared DNA-HCTAC material shows high optical quality at the optical telecommunication wavelengths, such as high transparency, relatively high refractive index and low birefringence. In the fabrication approach, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is used as a barrier layer to protect the DNA-HCTAC material from the corrosive of photoresist developer, and the etching conditions are optimized to form the smooth wall and sharp cross-section of the waveguide. Lastly, the optical characteristics of DNA-HCTAC channel waveguides are measured. The results show that the DNA-HCTAC waveguide operates with single-mode propagation and has a low optical loss.

In this paper, a model of photonic crystal temperature sensor based on crystal microcavity in a straight photonic crystal waveguide is proposed. The transmission characteristics of light in the sensor under different temperatures are simulated by using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The thermal expansion and thermal-optic effects of silicon are taken into account. The results show that the resonant wavelength of microcavity increases linearly as the temperature rising. The wavelength shift along with temperature is 6.6 pm /°C.

Babesiosis (piroplasmosis) is a zoonotic disease caused by an intraerythrocytic protozoan transmitted by Ixodes ticks. The aim of this study was to detect Babesia spp. infection using molecular methods in 377 blood samples from anemic patients. Sequence analysis showed that the 18S rRNA gene was 439 bases long by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification and that the PCR products from the samples had an identical sequence (named Taian China, HM355854). BLAST search showed that the sequence was identical to the 18S rRNA sequences of Babesia divergens. The 18S rRNA sequence for Toxoplasma gondii was included as the outlier for phylogenetic analysis by using the program MEGA4.0 software. The results showed that the 18S rRNA gene sequences obtained from the present study was most closely related to B. divergens Switzerland (DQ312439) with 98.4% similarity (differing only by seven bases). The phylogenetic analysis also revealed that this sequence closely resembled B. divergens strains from other countries and belonged to the same clade. This is the first report of a human being infected by B. divergens in China.

Under GGA, the geometry, energy, electronic structure, and elastic properties of the CoSi2 have been investigated by using ab initio plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential method. The calculated equilibrium lattice parameter a and elastic stiffness constants c 11, c 12, and c 44 are in better agreement with the experimental values than those obtained by both the VAMP and FLAPW with LDA. For engineering and technological applications, the isotropic elastic properties, including the shear modulus G, the bulk modulus B, Young’s modulus E, and Poisson’s ratio $$ \upsilon $$ , are also calculated for polycrystalline CoSi2 with Voigt, Reuss, and Hill approximations. The lower Poisson’s ratio $$ \upsilon $$ of 0.327 means an increase in the volume is associated with the uniaxial tensile deformation and the higher ratio of bulk modulus to shear modulus B/G of 2.56 indicates the ductility of CoSi2 which is in accordance with the metallic property of CoSi2 obtained by the density of states.

Effect of cholecystokinin octapeptide on diacylglycerol-PKC signaling pathway in rat pulmonary interstitial macrophages stimulated by lipopolysaccharide

The proposed scheme is based on Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) domain processing. The key technology of this scheme is jamming parameters’ accurate estimation and jamming reconstruction. Compared with the “threshold exciser” scheme the proposed scheme can eliminate more jamming energy on the whole frequency band with the minimum loss of useful signal energy. As shown in the research and simulation, the proposed scheme is much better than the “threshold exciser” scheme, especially in the case of high power jamming whereas the “threshold exciser” scheme might be invalid.

We propose a novel scheme of M-ary multicarrier spread spectrum based on wavelet packet. The scheme has good performance in multipath channel because of taking advantages of the properties of wavelet packet. Its performance is investigated for a multipath, slow Rayleigh fading channel. The performance advantages of the system over that based on DFT are demonstrated by both analytical and simulation methods.

Background A new procedure to correct myopia that does not disturb the cornea in the optical zone and avoids injuring the corneal epithelium could be a key advance in corneal refractive surgery. The aim of this study is to observe the refractive change in the adult rabbits undergoing femtosecond laser-assisted multilayer intrastromal ablation in the mid-periphery of the cornea without injury of epithelium. Method The right eyes of 8 New Zealand White adult rabbits were used for the experiments. A 60-kHz femtosecond laser delivery system was used, and three lamellar layers of laser pulses were focused starting at a corneal depth of 180 μm and ending at 90 μm from the surface, with each successive layer placed 45 μm anterior to the previous layer. In the interface of the applanation contact lens cone, a 6-mm diameter aluminum circle was placed at the center to block the laser, limiting ablation to the mid-periphery of the cornea. The laser settings were as follows: spot/line separation, 10 μm; diameter, 8.0 mm; energy for ablating the stroma, 1.3 μJ. An authorefractor was used to assess the manifest refraction.
