Abstract

Flexible polyurethane foam (FPUF) has many advantages such as lightweight, low density and high specific strength and is widely used in furniture, automobile industry, construction and transportation. However, FPUF is extremely flammable in the air, and a large amount of toxic gas will be generated when it is burned. The fire protection technology of FPUF has attracted more and more attention. Generally, it is an effective method to improve fire protection of FPUF by introducing additive flame retardant. As a relatively new approach, layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly technology is widely used in research fields such as biology, materials and nanoscience. In this work, the research and application of LBL self-assembly technology in the field of flame-retardant FPUF were described, and zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, two-dimensional nanomaterials, one- and two-dimensional nanocomposites systems and other self-assembly systems in flame-retardant FPUF were introduced in detail. The flame-retardant mechanism of flame-retardant FPUF systems was also systematically analyzed, and finally, the development of LBL self-assembly technology in flame-retardant FPUF was prospected.

Abstract

The nonlocal nonlinear boundary value problem with turning point is considered. Leading the stretched variables the formal asymptotic solution of the original problem is constructed. And by using the theory of differential inequalities the existence and uniformly validity of solution for the original boundary value problems are proved. The contribution of this paper is that, the asymptotic behavior of solution is studied by using a simple and special method.

Abstract

Montmorillonite/cationic azobenzene dye(p-(δ-triethylammoniobutoxy)-p′-methyl-azobenzene bromide) intercalation compounds were prepared by the conventional ion exchange method. As compared with that of pure cationic azo-dye, the thermal stability of the intercalated dye was greatly enhanced, and the absorption band corresponding to azobenzene group in intercalated dye shifted towards longer wave length by 38 nm. This could be ascribed to the strong conjugation of cationic azo-dye supramolecular order structure(J cluster) confined in a nanoscale space of montmorillonite interlayer gallery. UV/vis spectra data show that the intercalated azo dye in the montmorillonite interlayer space exhibited reversible trans-to-cis photoisomerization and daylight cis-to-trans back reaction. FTIR indicates the successful intercalation of cationic azo-dye into the montmorillonite interlayer.

Abstract

The PRECIS, a regional climate model system developed at the UK Met Office Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research, which is nested in one-way mode within the HadAM3P, a higher-resolution version of the atmospheric component of the Hadley Centre climate model HadCM3, is employed to simulate the baseline (1961–1990) climate for evaluation of model’s capacity of simulating present climate and analyze the future climate change responses in the time-slice of 2071–2100 (2080s) under SRES B2 scenario over China relative to baseline average. It is indicated from the comparison of the simulated baseline climate with in situ observation that PRECIS can simulate the local distribution characteristics of surface air temperature over China quite well; generally speaking, the simulation for precipitation in the north of China and in winter is better than in the south of China and in summer, respectively; the simulation of precipitation in summer is sensitive to topography, and the simulated precipitation values are lower than observations over southeast coastal areas. It is shown from the analyses on the simulated climate change responses in 2080s under SRES B2 scenario relative to base-line that there would be an obvious surface air temperature increase in the north of China relative to that in the south of China, and especially in Northwest China and Northeast China, the amplitude of summer mean surface air temperature increments could reach 5°C; there would be an overall increase of the simulated precipitation in 2080s under SRES B2 scenario over most areas of China, while there would be significant precipitation decreases in South China in winter; there would be obvious precipitation decreases in Northeast China and North China in summer with high surface air temperature increase. However, it presents an obvious precipitation increase over the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in summer.

Abstract

UV curable, transparent acrylic resin/titania organic–inorganic hybrid films were prepared by controlled hydrolysis of titanium tetrabutoxide (TTB) in Span85/Tweeen80 reverse micelles and subsequent in situ photopolymerization of acrylic monomers. The qualitative content of TiOTi group and TiOH was monitored by FTIR spectrum, and the thermal stability and film surface were characterized by TGA, DSC and AFM, respectively. TGA data show that TiO2-hybrid films can upgrade the decomposition onset temperature and the temperature at which there is a maximum mass loss rate (Tmax). DSC data show that prolonged exposure to UV light and post-thermal treatment can decrease the Tonset and Tpeak of the exothermal peak and the condensation temperature between TiOH, and increase ΔH of the exothermal peak. FTIR spectra show the presence of two νs(COO-) modes with the νa-νs splitting magnitude (Δν∼87 cm-1 and 148 cm-1, respectively), suggesting that acrylic acid acts as a bidentate coordination mode and therefore chemical linkages exist between inorganic and organic phases. AFM phase images showed the presence of inorganic domains, with mean size of 21.6 nm–28.8 nm, were uniformly dispersed in the polymeric networks.
