Comment on a case report on a challenging case of a severe spinal congenital deformity with a type I split spinal cord malformation (SSCM) in a 23-year-old with initial neurological symptoms. The patient was treated with a halo gravity traction over one month. A posterior vertebral column resection cephalad to the bony spur at T12 was done and moderate frontal and sagittal plane curve correction was achieved without resection of the bony spur. In conclusion, despite a quite clear recommendation in the current literature to first surgically address the type 1 SSCM prior to correction of any spinal deformity, the authors of the present case chose to leave the bony spur. Still it remains to be seen if in this very case the spur will become clinically apparent in the future or not. As long as larger studies on curve correction without spur resection in SSCM are not available, spur resection prior to any type of curve correction remains the golden standard.

CD47 is a macrophage-specific immune checkpoint protein acting by inhibiting phagocytosis. However, the underlying mechanism maintaining CD47 protein stability in cancer is not clear. Here we show that CD47 undergoes degradation via endocytosis/lysosome pathway. The lysosome protein RAGA interacts with and promotes CD47 lysosome localization and degradation. Disruption of RAGA blocks CD47 degradation, leading to CD47 accumulation, high plasma membrane/intracellular CD47 expression ratio and reduced phagocytic clearance of cancer cells. RAGA deficiency promotes tumor growth due to the accumulation of CD47, which sensitizes the tumor to CD47 blockade. Clinical analysis shows that RAGA and CD47 proteins are negatively correlated in lung adenocarcinoma patient samples. High RAGA protein level is related to longer patient survival. In addition, RAGAhighCD47low patients show the longest overall survival. Our study thereby not only reveals a mechanism by which RAGA regulates CD47 lysosome degradation, but also suggests RAGA is a potential diagnostic biomarker of lung adenocarcinoma.

Ibrutinib is a drug that inhibits the protein Burton’s tyrosine kinase and thereby the nuclear translocation of Nrf2, which played a key role in mediating the activation of antioxidants during stress conditions and ferroptosis resistance. This study aimed to identify the effect of Ibrutinib and ferroptosis inducer on colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment and its underlying mechanism. In our study, we found the upregulation of Nrf2 was correlated with CRC progression and antioxidant proteins. Ibrutinib sensitized CRC to ferroptosis inducers, suggested by further reduced CRC cell viability, proliferation and decreased antioxidant protein levels in CRC cells after combination treatment of Ibrutinib and RSL3 or Ibrutinib and Erastin both in vivo and in vitro. Knockout of Nrf2 diminished the regulatory effect of Ibrutinib on CRC sensitivity to ferroptosis inducers. Altogether, this study demonstrated that Ibrutinib increases the sensitivity of CRC cell to ferroptosis inducers by inhibiting Nrf2.

To evaluate the effect and safety of Kangfuyan Capsules (抗妇炎胶囊) for treating pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in patients with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in a multicenter, randomized, controlled, double-blind, parallel-group clinical trial. Totally, 240 PID patients with CPP were randomized into 2 groups using a computer generated random number at a 1:1 ratio from 10 hospitals in China between September 2014 and November 2015. Patients received either oral Kangfuyan Capsules or Gongyanping Capsules (宫炎平胶囊, control); the regimen for both groups comprised 4 capsules (3 times daily) for 12 weeks, with follow-up visit 4 weeks after treatment. The visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, clinical responses, remarkable cure rates for each symptom, and quality of life scores were assessed at baseline, and after 1, 2, and 3 months. The deprotonative functionalization of toluenes, for their weak acidity, generally needs strong bases, thus leading to the requirement of harsh conditions and the generation of by-products. Direct nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction of amides with organometallic reagents could provide an ideal solution for ketone synthesis. However, the inert amides and highly reactive organometallic reagents bring great challenges for an efficient and selective synthetic approach. Herein, we reported an lithium diisopropylamide (LDA)-promoted benzylic aroylation of toluenes with unactivated tertiary benzamides, providing a direct and efficient synthesis of various aryl benzyl ketones. This process features a kinetic deprotonative functionalization of toluenes with a readily available base LDA. Mechanism studies revealed that the directed ortho-lithiation of the tertiary benzamide with LDA promoted the benzylic kinetic deprotonation of toluene and triggered the nucleophilic acyl substitution reaction with the amide.

Primary familial brain calcification (PFBC) is a neurogenetic disorder characterized by bilateral calcified deposits in the brain. We previously identified that MYORG as the first pathogenic gene for autosomal recessive PFBC, and established a Myorg-KO mouse model. However, Myorg-KO mice developed brain calcifications until nine months of age, which limits their utility as a facile PFBC model system. Hence, whether there is another typical animal model for mimicking PFBC phenotypes in an early stage still remained unknown. In this study, we profiled the mRNA expression pattern of myorg in zebrafish, and used a morpholino-mediated blocking strategy to knockdown myorg mRNA at splicing and translation initiation levels. We observed multiple calcifications throughout the brain by calcein staining at 2–4 days post-fertilization in myorg-deficient zebrafish, and rescued the calcification phenotype by replenishing myorg cDNA. Overall, we built a novel model for PFBC via knockdown of myorg by antisense oligonucleotides in zebrafish, which could shorten the observation period and replenish the Myorg-KO mouse model phenotype in mechanistic and therapeutic studies.

Background Liver fibrosis is a wound-healing response to chronic injury, featuring with excess accumulation of extracellular matrix secreted by the activated hepatic stellate cells (HSC). Disulfiram (DSF), also known as Antabuse, has been used for the treatment of alcohol addiction and substance abuse. Recently, overwhelming studies had revealed anti-cancer effects of DSF in multiple cancers, including liver cancer. But the actual effects of DSF on liver fibrosis and liver function remain unknown. Methods In this study, we evaluated the effects of low-dose DSF in CCl4- and Bile Duct Ligation (BDL)—induced hepatic fibrosis rat models. Cell proliferation was detected by using the Cell-Light™ EdU Apollo®567 Cell Tracking Kit. Cell apoptosis was analyzed using a TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) kit, viability was measured with Cell Counting Kit-8(CCK8). Relative mRNA expression of pro-fibrogenic was assessed using quantitative RT-PCR. The degree of liver fibrosis, activated HSCs, were separately evaluated through Sirius Red-staining, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and asparagine aminotransferase (AST) activities were detected with ALT and AST detecting kits using an automated analyzer. Results Liver fibrosis was distinctly attenuated while liver functions were moderately ameliorated in the DSF-treated group. Activation and proliferation of primary rat HSCs isolated from rat livers were significantly suppressed by low-dose DSF. DSF also inhibited the viability of in vitro cultured rat or human HSC cells dose-dependently but had no repressive role on human immortalized hepatocyte THLE-2 cells. Interestingly, upon DSF treatment, the viability of LX-2 cells co-cultured with THLE-2 was significantly inhibited, while that of THLE-2 co-cultured with LX-2 was increased. Further study indicated that HSCs apoptosis was increased in DSF/CCl4-treated liver samples. These data indicated that DSF has potent anti-fibrosis effects and protective effects toward hepatocytes and could possibly be repurposed as an anti-fibrosis drug in the clinic. Conclusions DSF attenuated ECM remodeling through suppressing the transformation of quiet HSCs into proliferative, fibrogenic myofibroblasts in hepatic fibrosis rat models. DSF provides a novel approach for the treatment of liver fibrosis.

Background In aged people, tendon injuries frequently occur during sporting and daily activities. In clinical practice, typical physiotherapeutic, pharmacotherapeutic, and surgical techniques do not result in the full recovery of injured tendons, which may lead to chronic degenerative disease. Methods We first isolated tendon stem cells (TSCs) from rats and transfected them with the TGFβ1 gene, resulting in TGFβ1-TSCs. The proliferation of TSCs was detected using the Cell Counting Kit 8, and TSCs were identified by immunofluorescence analysis and differentiation capacity analysis. Aggrecan, COL2A1, alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and p-Smad2 expression levels were detected using western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Additionally, a tendon injury model was generated to explore the effect of TGFβ1 on the repair of the tendon by TSCs. Results Compared with fibrinogen treatment, TSC + fibrinogen or TGFβ1-TSC + fibrinogen treatment significantly promoted the fibrosis of injured tendons, as evidenced by histological analyses, with TGFβ1-TSC + fibrinogen having a greater effect than TSC + fibrinogen. In TGFβ1-TSCs, increased expression levels of aggrecan and COL2A1 indicated that TGFβ1 signaling induced chondrogenic differentiation. Meanwhile, the increased collagen and α-SMA protein levels indicated that TGFβ1 promoted fibrogenesis. Additionally, TGFβ1 stimulated the production of phosphorylated Smad2 in TSCs, which suggested that the chondrogenic and fibrogenic differentiation of TSCs, as well as tissue regeneration, may be associated with the TGFβ1/Smad2 pathway. Conclusion TGFβ1-TSC therapy may be a candidate for effective tendon fibrosis.

The purpose of this study was to optimize the light delivery method in a prostate photoacoustic imaging system. A three dimensional (3D) optical model of the human prostate was developed, and the optical energy distribution in the prostate was estimated via three-dimensional Monte Carlo simulation. Then, the feasibility of prostate photoacoustic imaging (PAI) using two endoscopic light delivery methods was studied. Photoacoustic pressure generation and the corresponding photoacoustic images had been obtained and the comparisons were made between each other. Also, the results of cylinder diffusing light source with different lengths were compared. After that, phantom experiment was carried out to validate the simulation results. Our results would be significant in the optimizing photoacoustic imaging system for an accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The wettability and reactivity between molten aluminum (Al) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a key issue in the preparation of CNTs-reinforced Al-matrix composites using a solidification route. In this work, we measured the wettability of randomly aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (buckypaper) by molten Al at 973–1173 K in a high vacuum using a modified sessile-drop method and examined their interactions using a droplet-sucking technique. The wettability between Al and CNTs is even worse than that of the Al/graphite system. The contact angles are basically larger than 140° and show only a sluggish decrease with time during isothermal dwelling. The chemical stability of CNTs in contact with Al is closely related to their structural integrity. The CNTs with good crystallinity and structural integrity have relatively high chemical stability and exhibit only a weak interfacial reaction with Al at 973 K. However, the stability of structural defective parts is much lower. They are readily eroded by molten Al, leading to the fragmentation of the CNTs. These CNT fragments having an open tubular structure are then rapidly dissolved in molten Al along the axial and radial directions. Simultaneously, a large amount of Al4C3 is formed at the interfaces.

Accurate values of masked detector signal (MDS) is the key to the correction capability of wavefront sensorless (WFSless) model-based adaptive optics (AO) system. However, imaging detectors always carry different kinds of noises in real applications, which make MDS deviate from theoretical results. Calculation errors of MDS suffered from the noise were analyzed through theory and simulation. Additionally, considering the method of threshold is usually used to mitigate the noise, we also discussed the influence of threshold on MDS. Results showed that the simulation is consistent with the theory and there exists an optimal threshold to make the error minimum for different noise. A fitting formula, which can accurately calculate optimal thresholds, was proposed based on the simulated data. Above results can provide a plausible method and theoretical basis to mitigate imaging noise of detectors in real applications.

Scientific collaboration has considerably grown in recent years, and has been recognized as a positive factor for research productivity and quality. This study is aimed at exploring the collaboration in retracted publications and the influence on different kinds of scientific misbehaviors based on 4842 retracted publications in Web of Science Core Collection from 1978 to 2017. Search results showed that the proportion of international collaborations in retracted publications has fluctuated at around 20% in the past 17 years, and different collaboration patterns of major countries are revealed. The USA and China contributed to more than half of all retracted publications, while retraction rate of Chinese papers was three times higher compared to papers from the USA. A negative correlation between the proportion of internationally collaborative publications and the retraction rate was found. Countries involved in more international collaborations tend to have lower retraction rates. Also, the occurrences of plagiarism was found to be lower when a paper is contributed by more authors, while falsification or manipulation, errors or unreliable results appeared more frequently under the same condition. Conclusions are made with a focus on the need for more actions to strengthen the scientific norms and integrity within collaborative groups.

Anthocyanins are a type of natural pigment that have high potential for development and utilization in regions like food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, with nitrogen and phosphorus starvation possibly promoting their accumulation in grapes. However, it remains unclear whether such starvation impacts the grape callus, or how the co-starvation of nitrogen and phosphorus affects the biosynthesis of anthocyanins. Here, we investigated how nitrogen starvation, phosphorus starvation, and the co-starvation of these two elements affects the synthesis of anthocyanins in the callus of grape skin. Results showed that separate starvation of nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as nitrogen and phosphorus co-starvation, inhibited callus growth, while significantly promoting the accumulation of anthocyanins. However, co-starvation did not facilitate anthocyanin biosynthesis during the later stages of callus growth. qRT-PCR analysis showed that the expression of VvUFGT and VvMYBA1 was closely related to anthocyanin accumulation in the callus under nitrogen and phosphorus starvation. Besides, we also confirmed that the abscisic acid signaling pathway was involved in anthocyanin accumulation as well as callus resistance under adverse conditions. This study provides a basis for investigating the regulatory mechanisms of anthocyanin synthesis in grapes, as well as theoretical support for the production of anthocyanins by callus culture. Even though nitrogen and phosphorus deficiencies have been reported to promote anthocyanin biosynthesis in grapevine berries, whether the same deficiencies also induce anthocyanin accumulation in grape callus and whether nitrogen and phosphorus co-deficiency enhances this induction have yet to be reported. Therefore, the present study to investigate the effects of nitrogen starvation, phosphorus starvation, and nitrogen and phosphorus co-starvation on anthocyanin accumulation and ABA signaling in grape callus.

In this work, the formation of cocontinuous structure in immiscible high density polyethylene/isotactic polypropylene (HDPE/iPP) blends was investigated for various olefin-based compatibilizers of distinct molecular architectures, including ternary random copolymer EPDM, olefin block copolymer (OBC), polypropylene-based OBC (PP-OBC), ethylene/a-olefin copolymer (POE), bottlebrush polymer poly(1-dodecene), and comb-like poly(propylene-co-high a-olefin) (PPO). The scanning electron microscopy results show that after adding OBC, PP-OBC, and POE copolymers, the finer droplet-in-matrix morphologies were obtained in 70/30 HDPE/iPP blend. Interestingly, for 70/30 HDPE/iPP blend with just 5 wt% of PPO copolymers, the phase inversion from droplet-in-matrix to cocontinuous morphology can be observed. It was proposed that the development of cocontinuous morphology contained the following steps: (1) interfacial saturation of compatibilizers and droplet deformation, (2) droplet-droplet coalescence, (3) continuity development, and (4) the formation of dual-phase continuity. Among the diverse copolymers studied in this work, PPO copolymer can be easily removed out of the interface during droplet coalescence and stabilize the curvature of minor fiber phase, facilitating the formation of cocontinuous morphology. In contrast, other olefin-based compatibilizers (EPDM, OBC, PP-OBC, and POE) exhibit the distinct steric repulsion effect to prohibit droplet coalescence. Moreover, the cocontinous interval varies with the compatibilizer architectures. Surprisingly, after adding 10 wt% of PPO copolymers, the cocontinuous interval was greatly broadened from HDPE/iPP range of 45/55–60/40 to that of 40/60–70/30.

Human Y-chromosome haplogroup C2b-F1067 is one of the dominant paternal lineages of populations in Eastern Eurasia. In order to explore the origin, diversification, and expansion of this haplogroup, we generated 206 new Y-chromosome sequences from C2b-F1067 males and coanalyzed 220 Y-chromosome sequences of this haplogroup. BEAST software was used to reconstruct a revised phylogenetic tree of haplogroup C2b-F1067 with age estimates. The revised phylogeny of C2b-F1067 included 155 sublineages, 1986 non-private variants, and >6000 private variants. The age estimation suggested that the initial splitting of C2b-F1067 happened at about 32.8 thousand years ago (kya) and the major sublineages of this haplgroup experienced continuous expansion in the most recent 10,000 years. We identified numerous sublineages that were nearly specific for Korean, Mongolian, Chinese, and other ethnic minorities in China. In particular, we evaluated the candidate-specific lineage for the Dayan Khan family and the Confucius family, the descendants of the ruling family of the Chinese Shang dynasty. These findings suggest that ancient populations with varied C2b-F1067 sublineages played an important role during the formation of most modern populations in Eastern Eurasia, and thus eventually became the founding paternal lineages of these populations.

To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) of different frequencies on transmission function, electromyography, nitric oxide synthase (NOS) content and interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) expression of colon in rat models with slow transit constipation (STC). Of the 50 healthy male Wistar rats, 10 were randomly selected as a normal group and fed with ordinary diet, and the remaining 40 rats were fed with the diet added with the compound diphenoxylate at a dose of 8 mg/(kg·bw) each day for continuous 120 d. The 40 successfully established STC rat models were randomly divided into a model group, a low-frequency EA group (2 Hz), a high-frequency EA group (100 Hz), and a variable-frequency EA group (2 Hz/100 Hz), with 10 rats in each group. Rats in the normal and the model groups were not given any treatment; the low-frequency EA and the high-frequency EA groups were given EA at Tianshu (ST 25), Zusanli (ST 36) and Zhigou (TE 6) with continuous wave at the designated frequency, and the variable-frequency EA group received sparse-dense wave (2 Hz/100 Hz) EA at the same acupoints, once a day for a total of 15 d. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tongxiening Granules (痛泻宁颗粒, TXNG) in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with predominant diarrhea (IBS-D). A randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, and positive parallel controlled clinical trial was conducted from October 2014 to March 2016. Totally 342 patients from 13 clinical centers were enrolled and randomly assigned (at the ratio of 1:1) to a treatment group (171 cases) and a control group (171 cases) by a random coding table. The patients in the treatment group were administered orally with TXNG (5 g per time) combined with pinaverium bromide Tablet simulator (50 mg per time), 3 times per day. The patients in the control group were given TXNG simulator (5 g per time) combined with pinaverium bromide Tablets (50 mg per time), 3 times per day. The treatment course lasted for 6 weeks. The improvement of Irritable Bowel Syndrome Symptom Severity Score (IBS-SSS) was used to evaluate the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included adequate relief (AR) rate, Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Quality of Life Questionnaire (IBS-QOL), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and the recurrence rate at follow-ups. Safety indices including the adverse events (AEs) and related laboratory tests were evaluated. Primary outcome: IBS-SSS at baseline, weeks 2, 4, 6 showed no statistical significance in both full analysis set (FAS) and per protocol set (PPS, P>0.05). After 6 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of IBS-SSS scores in the treatment group (147/171,86.0%) was higher than the control group (143/171, 83.6%) by FAS (P>0.05). In regard to secondary outcomes, after 6-week treatment, there was no significant difference in AR rate, total score of IBS-QOL, improvement of HAMD and HAMA total scores between the two groups (P>0.05). The recurrence rate at 8-week follow-up was 12.35% (10/18) in treatment group and 15.79% (12/76) in control group, respectively (P>0.05). A total of 21 AEs occurred in 15 cases, of which 11 occurred in 8 cases in the treatment group and 10 AEs in 7 cases in the control group. The incidence of AEs had no statistical significance between the two goups (P>0.05). Visfatin is involved in the body's inflammation and immune response. Inflammation could promote, while visfatin may directly or indirectly mitigate the effects of apoptosis and autophagy. Whether visfatin lessens the detrimental effects of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mouse acute lung injury (ALI) is poorly understood yet. Therefore, in the current study, the regulation mechanism of visfatin on apoptosis and autophagy was explored in Kunming mice by replicating LPS-induced inflammatory ALI model. Based on the mouse model of ALI, HE staining, TUNEL, transmission electron microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR and western blot were used and the results showed that the alveolar septum was thinner than that of the LPS group, slight lung interstitial and alveolar exudation appeared, and a small number of inflammatory cell infiltration was found in the visfatin intervention group, indicating reduced tissue damage in lungs. After visfatin treatment, the expression of pro-apoptotic genes Bax, Bik, and p53 decreased and the expression of anti-apoptotic genes Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl increased, and expression of autophagy factors LC3 and Beclin1 decreased, indicating that visfatin inhibits apoptosis and reduces autophagy. The expression of PI3K and p-AKT was upregulated in the visfatin intervention group, the expression of AKT was downregulated, and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was activated. Hence, visfatin could activate the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, reduce the apoptotic rate in alveolar epithelial cells and the level of autophagy in ALI by regulating the expression of autophagy factors, ultimately causing a protective effect on lung tissue.

Amides are a fundamental and widespread functional group, and are usually considered as poor electrophiles owing to resonance stabilization of the amide bond. Various approaches have been developed to address challenges in amide transformations. Nonetheless, most methods use activated amides, organometallic reagents or transition metal catalysts. Here, we report the direct alkylation of N,N-dialkyl benzamides with methyl sulfides promoted by the readily available base LDA (lithium diisopropylamide). This approach successfully achieves an efficient and selective synthesis of α-sulfenylated ketones without using transition-metal catalysts or organometallic reagents. Preliminary mechanism studies reveal that the deprotonative aroylation of methyl sulfides is promoted by the directed ortho-lithiation of the tertiary benzamide with LDA. Direct conversion of amides to ketones typically requires the use of transition metal catalysts or reactive organometallic reagents. Here the direct alkylation of benzamides with methyl sulfides using LDA as base provides access to thioalkoxyketones.

Background Grain weight and grain shape are important agronomic traits that affect the grain yield potential and grain quality of rice. Both grain weight and grain shape are controlled by multiple genes. The 3,000 Rice Genomes Project (3 K RGP) greatly facilitates the discovery of agriculturally important genetic variants and germplasm resources for grain weight and grain shape. Results Abundant natural variations and distinct phenotic differentiation among the subgroups in grain weight and grain shape were observed in a large population of 2,453 accessions from the 3 K RGP. A total of 21 stable quantitative trait nucleotides (QTNs) for the four traits were consistently identified in at least two of 3-year trials by genome-wide association study (GWAS), including six new QTNs (qTGW3.1, qTGW9, qTGW11, qGL4/qRLW4, qGL10, and qRLW1) for grain weight and grain shape. We further predicted seven candidate genes (Os03g0186600, Os09g0544400, Os11g0163600, Os04g0580700, Os10g0399700, Os10g0400100 and Os01g0171000) for the six new QTNs by high-density association and gene-based haplotype analyses. The favorable haplotypes of the seven candidate genes and five previously cloned genes in elite accessions with high TGW and RLW are also provided. Conclusions Our results deepen the understanding of the genetic basis of grain weight and grain shape in rice and provide valuable information for improving rice grain yield and grain quality through molecular breeding.

Visfatin is a multifunctional protein involved in inflammatory immune stress. The aim of current study was to explore the role of visfatin in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced intestinal mucosal inflammation and to confirm its cellular effect in inflammatory immune response through silencing of Toll-like receptors (TLRs). We divided Kunming mice into three groups: Saline group, LPS group, and LPS + visfatin group and performed hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemistry, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and RNA-seq analysis. Pretreatment of visfatin improves LPS-stimulated reduction of tight junction protein 1 (ZO-1) and secretory immunoglobulin A, inhibits overexpression of Claudin-1 and vascular endothelial growth factor, and reduces intestinal mucosal damage and inflammation. RNA-seq analysis of cellular transcriptomes indicated that visfatin is involved in down-regulation of mRNA level of TLR4 as well as attenuation of protein levels of TLR8 and nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2, revealing that visfatin could reduce intestinal mucosal inflammation through TLR signaling pathway in mice ileum. In RAW264.7 cells, the genes silencing of Toll/IL-1R family, such as TLR4, TLR2, and IL-1R1, was accompanied by decreased expressions of inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and MCP-1) along with lower cellular visfatin levels. Hence, visfatin maintains the intestinal mucosal barrier structure and attenuates the intestinal mucosal inflammation through the TLR signaling pathway. Likewise, the Toll/IL-1R family regulates the release of visfatin, which can participate in the inflammatory reaction through the regulation of inflammatory factors.
