The present study reports an effective method using cation exchange adsorption during the separation and purification of taurine from bovine liver. We use cation exchange method, crystallization and recrystallization, TLC analysis, and infrared spectrometry. The results indicated that the optimum parameters of cation exchange preliminarily separation and purification of taurine are as follows: a 5.66-ml injection volume, a pH value of 4.94, and an elution rate of 2.5 ml/min. Taurine pure product was obtained by crystallization and recrystallization method, its purity more than 98.1%. The results of infrared spectroscopy showed that the purified taurine contain the absorption peak of –NH2 (3212.83, 3045.05, 2971.77 cm−1) and the absorption peak of –SO3H (1184.08, 1305.57, 1511.92, 1585.20, 1616.06 cm−1), consistent with the infrared absorption peaks of taurine standards. The method of separation and purification out of taurine from bovine liver is successful and effectively improves the purity of taurine crude products; it can be applied to industrial production.

A data center test model was used to analyze the energy dissipation characteristics and energy consumption of a data center. The results indicate that adequate heat dissipation from a data center cannot be achieved only from heat dissipation through the building envelope during Beijing winter conditions. This is because heat dissipation through the building envelope covers about 19.5% of the total data center heat load. The average energy consumption for an air conditioner is 4 to 5 kW over a 24-h period. The temperature difference between the indoor and outdoor air for the data center with a thermosyphon heat exchanger is less than 20°C. The energy consumption of the thermosyphon heat exchanger is only 41% of that of an air conditioner. The annual energy consumption can be reduced by 35.4% with a thermosyphon system. In addition, the effect of the outdoor temperature on the energy consumption of an air conditioner is greater than the indoor room temperature. The energy consumption of an air conditioner system increases by 5% to 6% for every 1°C rise in the outdoor temperature.

A new compressed-air engine system based on three-stage single screw expander was proposed to improve the performance of power system. Three different structure styles were presented, and the studies on the power performance and the distribution of expansion ratios between stages were carried out by programming and mathematical modeling of each style. Research results indicated that the best matches of expansion ratios with equal heat temperature for the air tank of pressure 30 MPa were seven- five-three for “first-stage heating” style, eight-five-three for “two-stage heating” style and five-five-four for “three-stage heating” style, respectively. Results also showed that heating up inlet air or increasing the expander efficiency might improve the power performance. The output power of the “two-stage heating” style is far higher than that of “first-stage heating” style and is a little lower than that of “three-stage heating” style. The new system showed good structure and power performances.

Ejector can utilize high pressure energy from liquid mechanism, it can be used in heat pump system coupled with economized vapor injection (EVI) scroll compressor. When running under low temperature conditions, the performance of the EVI system with ejector can be improved further. In this paper, the design method of the heat pump system with ejector is presented, and the process for designing the heat pump with ejector (EVIe) was summarized. One prototype heat pump was designed under the condition of the evaporation temperature of −20°C, and an experimental setup was established to test the prototype. The measured results demonstrated that the heating EER(energy efficiency ratio) of the EVIe could reach about 4% higher than that of the system without the ejector when the heating capacity remained nearly constant. The design method is helpful to development of a heat pump system coupled with scroll compressor and ejector.
