This exploration aims to explore how to use the new media technology of deep learning to analyze the cross-cultural differences between network users. First, the combination of edge computing and deep neural network model is adopted to complete data acquisition. Then, the network user behavior of the new media technology platform is analyzed. Finally, network user behavior and cross-cultural differences are studied. The survey data show that the interaction between new media technology and cross-cultural communication is very complex, which depends on the user behavior of the network society. Different behaviors of users produce different cultural exchange contents. Besides, most users of the new media technology platform will form independent individuals because they accept the past culture and ideas. The differences among individuals are closely related to their situation. There are also some differences in hobbies, habits and behaviors. People of different nationalities, skin colors, races and beliefs communicate on the network platform, because their communication crosses the obstacles of distance, time and language to a certain extent, and realizes cross-cultural interaction. Hence, for a country with a long cultural heritage and splendid historical civilization, the network society can significantly reflect the cultural differences between countries. The inclusiveness and openness of national culture provide great advantages for people to create new culture. This exploration provides a reference for relevant research and has a certain reference significance.

The aim of this exploration is to analyze the elements related to infections as well as neurological damage complications after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) by computer information health analysis using deep learning. In this exploration, there were 80 primary liver cancer patients who were selected as the study subjects. After each patient was treated with TACE, analysis is made on their postoperative complication incidence as well as the complication differences among different groups. Moreover, comparison is carried out among the levels of alpha-fetoprotein, grades of liver function, iodized oil dosage, arteriovenous fistula, tumor blood supply, as well as tumor morphology in operation. To improve the resistive switching performance of RRAM devices, it is desirable to find electrodes with good ability of oxygen reservoir. In this paper, bipolar switching mode of TiN/SiO2/FePt devices is achieved by using FePt as oxygen reservoir, since O atoms will be absorbed by Fe atoms to form FeOx film. Therefore, the oxygen reservoir’s ability can be evaluated by the molar ratio of FeOx in FePt film and it is found that the more molar ratio of FeOx the stronger oxygen reservoir’s ability is obtained. Interestingly, the self-rectifying characteristics in the devices with FePt electrode is observed due to the different work functions between TiN (4.7 eV) and FePt (> 5 eV). Furthermore, the transition between self-rectifying mode and diode mode can be achieved by controlling the applied voltage, which is beneficial for 1D1R architecture. The study in this paper may offer a method for fabrication of oxide-RRAM based 3D crossbar array with good performances.

The effect of the interactions among co-flowering plants for pollination has always been explained by changes in pollinator visiting frequency and/or foraging behavior. For most flowering plants with generalized pollination system, little is known about the influence of co-flowering neighbor on pollinator composition and its ecological consequences. Mazus miquelii, a plant with sensitively bilobed stigma, and its two naturally common co-flowering plants, Glechoma longituba and Ajuga decumbens were used to set the study system. We investigated pollinators’ visiting frequency and behavior, visiting frequency and relative composition of each pollinator type as well as seed production. Our results indicated that plant reproductive success significantly differed with co-flowering plants. However, neither pollinators’ visiting frequency nor foraging behavior could be attributed to the influence of co-flowering neighbor on reproductive success of M. miquelii. Flowers of M. miquelii were pollinated by more individuals of Osmia sp. when co-occurring with A. decumbens, while Halictus sp. was the main pollinator of M. miquelii when it was co-flowering with G. longituba. Comparatively, insects of Osmia sp. had higher effectiveness of pollen transfer than those of Halictus sp. The stigmatic pollen load of M. miquelii was higher co-flowering with A. decumbens than with G. longituba. The co-flowering neighbor significantly altered the pollinator composition and influenced pollen transfer efficiency, which might definitely be responsible for the changes in the focal plant reproductive success. This study improved our understanding on pollinator-mediated plant–plant interactions, particularly the uncertain effects of co-flowering plants on a focal plant from different communities.

In order to improve the resistive switching performance of SiO2-based resistance random access memory (RRAM) devices, the evolution from pure oxide-based devices to metallic nanoparticle dispersed oxide-based devices is investigated in this paper. It is found that a high ratio of dispersed-oxide/pure-oxide and thin SiO2 film can increase the uniformity and endurance of RRAM devices. Pure TiN/SiO2/Au RRAM devices show large distributions and poor endurance for repeated resistive switching process, while the TiN/SiO2:FePt/SiO2/Au RRAM devices exhibit higher uniformity and better endurance. Moreover, the fluctuations and degradation of high-resistance state and low-resistance state are observed in the former devices; by increasing the ratio of dispersed-oxide/pure-oxide in TiN/SiO2/SiO2:FePt/SiO2/Au, high consistency resistive switching is obtained. It is believed that the random formation of conducting filaments (CFs) causes poor performance of RRAM devices, and with a higher ratio of dispersed-oxide/pure-oxide the morphology of CFs is controlled due to the local field enhancement. The results in this paper may provide a method of fabricating high-performance RRAM devices for industry application.

Nickel ion exchanged MCM-41 samples with different Si/Al ratios and Ni-ZSM-5/MCM-41 were prepared and used to catalyze ethylene oligomerization which was performed in a fixed bed model (T = 523 K, P = 2 MPa). A temperature programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD) method was employed to quantitatively determine the acid strength distribution of Ni-MCM-41 samples with different Si/Al ratios and Ni-ZSM-5/MCM-41. The TPD spectrum was analyzed by an interrupted-TPD method with desorption-control (dc-method) to obtain the desorption activation energy of ammonia, which can be used as acid strength scale for the purpose of correlation with catalytic activity. A quantitative relationship between catalyst acidity and catalytic activity was established by a Bronsted type equation. The site with desorption activation energy of ammonia E = 124 kJ mol−1 was found as the most suitable site for ethylene oligomerization. An approximate linear relationship is obtained between the activity of the ethylene oligomerization reaction and the acid amount corresponding to the acid site with E = 124 kJ mol−1.

20(S)-protopanaxatriol (PPTA), an aglycone of ginseng saponins, is rarely found and is present in a limited amount; it exhibits various pharmaceutical activities, including memory improvement, and anti-diabetic and anti-cancer effects. An enzymatic method was developed to improve 20(S)-protopanaxatriol aglycone [20(S)-PPTA] production using recombinant β-glucosidase (BgpA) cloned from Terrabacter ginsenosidimutans Gsoil 3082T. The optimal hydrolytic activity was obtained at pH 7.0 and 37°C. The enzyme could hydrolyze the rutinoside and glucose moieties at the C6 and C20 positions, respectively, of ginsenosides Re and Rg1 to produce 20(S)-PPTA through the formation of ginsenoside F1 as an intermediate. For gram-scale production, the enzyme reaction was performed in a 10-L fermenter for 48 h at a substrate concentration of 10 mg/mL. Finally, 5.45 g 20(S)-PPTA was produced from 36 g PPT type ginsenoside mixture with 95% purity by chromatography. This study thus reveals an industrial application of a minor component, 20(S)-PPTA.

The surveillance and preventions of infectious disease epidemics such as influenza and Ebola are important and challenging issues. It is therefore crucial to characterize the disease progress and epidemics process efficiently and accurately. Computational epidemiology can model the progression of the disease and its underlying contact network, but as yet lacks the ability to process of real-time and fine-grained surveillance data. Social media, on the other hand, provides timely and detailed disease surveillance but is insensible to the underlying contact network and disease model. To address these challenges simultaneously, this paper proposes a novel semi-supervised neural network framework that integrates the strengths of computational epidemiology and social media mining techniques for influenza epidemiological modeling. Specifically, this framework learns social media users’ health states and intervention actions in real time, regularized by the underlying disease model and contact network. The learned knowledge from social media can then be fed into the computational epidemic model to improve the efficiency and accuracy of disease diffusion modeling. We propose an online optimization algorithm that iteratively processes the above interactive learning process. The extensive experimental results provided demonstrated that our approach can not only outperform competing methods by a substantial margin in forecasting disease outbreaks, but also characterize the individual-level disease progress and diffusion effectively and efficiently.

The performance of TiN/HfO2/Ag resistive random-access memory (RRAM) devices combining the oxygen-based RRAM (OxRRAM) and conducting bridge random-access memory (CBRAM) was studied. Current compliance (CC) values could significantly affect the resistive switching process: with unidirectional CC, permanent breakdown for the devices was observed. With bidirectional smaller CC, the stable bipolar resistive switching mode was obtained, and the cation injection played a leading role in the resistive switching process, while the devices with higher CC always remained in low-resistance state (LRS). The resistance–voltage (R–V) curve and conducting mechanism were analyzed for the bidirectional smaller CC devices, indicating ohmic conduction for the LRS, while the space charge limited the current for the high-resistance state. The results of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that oxygen vacancies participated in the resistive switching process. It could be concluded that conducting paths were formed from conducting filaments of oxygen vacancies and conducting bridges of Ag grains, and the different formation rate of conducting filaments related to the values of CC was the prime reason for the various changes. Moreover, the characteristics of TiN/HfO2/Ta devices proved the universality of bidirectional CC. The method of making the OxRRAM and CBRAM coexist in the RRAM devices may offer a way to fabricate devices with low power consumption.

Background Childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) is a kind of chronic inflammatory disease characterized by a highly abnormal immune system. This study aimed to detect the serum levels of Th (T helper) cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-21, IL-22, IFN-γ and TNF-α) in cSLE and healthy controls, and then to elucidate their association with clinical manifestations, disease activity and laboratory parameters. In order to provide clues for early diagnosis and timely intervention treatment of cSLE patients. Methods A total of 33 children with cSLE and 30 healthy children were enrolled in this study. Children in the cSLE group were classified into the inactive or active cSLE group according to their SLE disease activity index 2000 (SLEDAI-2 K) score. Background A prompt diagnosis of HIE remains a challenge clinically. This study aimed to identify potential biomarkers of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) via a novel proteomic approach, the isobaric tags for absolute and relative quantification (iTRAQ) method. Methods Blood samples were collected from neonates with mild (n = 4), moderate (n = 4), or severe (n = 4) HIE who were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of Children’s Hospital of Soochow University between Oct 2015 and Oct 2017. iTRAQ was performed in HIE patients and healthy controls (n = 4). Bioinformatics analyses including Gene Ontology and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis were performed to evaluate the potential features and capabilities of the identified differentially expressed proteins. Results A total of 51 commonly differentially expressed proteins were identified among the comparisons between mild, moderate, and severe HIE as well as healthy controls. Haptoglobin (HP) and S100A8 were most significantly up-regulated in patients with HIE and further validated via real-time PCR and western blotting. The differentially expressed proteins represented multiple biological processes, cellular components and molecular functions and were markedly enriched in complement and coagulation cascades. Conclusions HP and S100A8 may serve as a potential biomarker for neonatal HIE and reflects the severity of HIE. The complement and coagulation cascades play crucial roles in the development of neonatal HIE.

A new Gd(III) coordination polymer, namely [Gd(bpt)(H2O)(DMF)]n·3n(H2O) (1, H3bpt = biphenyl-3,4′,5-tricarboxylic acid, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), has been successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions. In the structure of 1, the dinuclear [Gd2(COO)4] building subunits are connected by the bpt3− ligands into a 3D framework with (3,6)-connected flu-3,6-C2/c topology. Moreover, the catalytic performances of 1 and 1′ (desolvated sample) towards the cyanosilylation of benzaldehyde and its derivatives have been tested under mild conditions. The catalytic activity of 1′ is higher than that of compound 1, indicating that more open metal sites in coordination polymer is beneficial to the cyanosilylation reaction. In addition, in vitro anticancer activities of compounds 1 and 1′ (desolvated sample) on four human gastric cancer cells (MGC-803, SGC-790, MKN45 and AGS) were further determined.

The acid site strength distribution of a series of ZSM-5 zeolite catalyst with different Si/Al ratios is quantificationally measured by temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia. The activation energy for ammonia desorption is not only a practical scale of acidity but also has a definite catalytic meaning in the Bronsted equation of acid catalysis. The activation energy for ammonia desorption was first correlated with experimental catalytic activity data of aldehyde and ammonia condensation reaction over ZSM-5 by means of a quantitative equation. An improved Bronsted equation was established. It can be concluded that different strength acid sites have different effect coefficients for the pyridine synthesis. The acid sites on which the activation energy of ammonia desorption is 150 kJ is the highest active sites for the reaction. The Bronsted-type relations can be used as a way to fast improve catalyst for pyridine synthesis.

The effects of hypoglycemia can result in injury, including at work. Our goal was to review the recent medical literature regarding hypoglycemia and occupational injuries and provide guidance to clinicians asked to render opinions regarding fitness for work duties in individuals with diabetes. Recent studies contain conflicting conclusions regarding the occupational risks posed by workers with diabetes. However, the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration concluded there was sufficient evidence to change the rule that previously disqualified commercial drivers with insulin-treated diabetes. Blanket employment policies that disqualify workers with diabetes are unnecessary in many occupational fields. In assessing occupational risks and fitness for duty in workers with diabetes, it is important to perform an individualized assessment of the worker and consider the risk factors for hypoglycemia, information from the treating clinician, essential functions of the job, and, if needed, availability of reasonable accommodations.

The association between inflammation and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has been described in many diseases. However, if and how chronic inflammation governs the unfolded protein response (UPR) and promotes ER homeostasis of chronic inflammatory disease remains elusive. In this study, chronic inflammation resulted in ER stress in mesenchymal stem cells in the setting of periodontitis. Long-term proinflammatory cytokines induced prolonged ER stress and decreased the osteogenic differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs). Interestingly, we showed that chronic inflammation decreases the expression of lysine acetyltransferase 6B (KAT6B, also called MORF), a histone acetyltransferase, and causes the upregulation of a key UPR sensor, PERK, which lead to the persistent activation of the UPR in PDLSCs. Furthermore, we found that the activation of UPR mediated by MORF in chronic inflammation contributes to the PERK-related deterioration of the osteogenic differentiation of PDLSCs both in vivo and in vitro. Taken together, our results suggest that chronic inflammation compromises UPR function through MORF-mediated-PERK transcription, which is a previously unrecognized mechanism that contributes to impaired ER function, prolonged ER stress and defective osteogenic differentiation of PDLSCs in periodontitis.

In this work, a novel chitosan/P(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid-co-acrylic amide) (CS/P(AMPS-co-AM)) hydrogel was successfully prepared by a simple one-step method using glow-discharge-electrolysis plasma (GDEP) initiated copolymerization, in which N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide was used as a cross-linking agent. A copolymerization mechanism of AMPS and AM onto CS initiated by GDEP was proposed. The structure, thermal stability and morphology of CS/P(AMPS-co-AM) hydrogel were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), TG/DTG, and scanning electron microscope (SEM). This hydrogel was employed as an absorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) and malachite green (MG) from aqueous solutions. The effects of pH, contact time and equilibrium concentration on the dye adsorption were investigated batchwise. FTIR and XRD indicated that AM and AMPS were grafted onto the CS backbone successfully, forming copolymer. TG/DTG suggested that grafted AMPS and AM onto CS could change the thermal stability of the CS. SEM showed a unique three-dimensional porous structure for the CS/P(AMPS-co-AM) hydrogel. The optimum pH for the removal of cationic dyes was 5.8, and time of adsorption equilibrium was achieved in 90 min. The CS/P(AMPS-co-AM) hydrogel exhibited a very high adsorption potential, and its adsorption capacities calculated based on the Langmuir isotherm for MB and MG were 1,538.5 and 917.4 mg g−1, respectively. The dye adsorption data fitted well to the pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir model at 25 °C with pH 5.8.
