Månsson and Shukur (Econ Model 28:1475–1481, 2011) proposed a Poisson ridge regression estimator (PRRE) to reduce the negative effects of multicollinearity. However, a weakness of the PRRE is its relatively large bias. Therefore, as a remedy, Türkan and Özel (J Appl Stat 43:1892–1905, 2016) examined the performance of almost unbiased ridge estimators for the Poisson regression model. These estimators will not only reduce the consequences of multicollinearity but also decrease the bias of PRRE and thus perform more efficiently. The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, to derive the mean square error properties of the Modified Almost Unbiased PRRE (MAUPRRE) and Almost Unbiased PRRE (AUPRRE) and then propose new ridge estimators for MAUPRRE and AUPRRE. Secondly, to compare the performance of the MAUPRRE with the AUPRRE, PRRE and maximum likelihood estimator. Using both simulation study and real-world dataset from the Swedish football league, it is evidenced that one of the proposed, MAUPRRE ($$ \hat{k}_{q4} $$ k ^ q 4 ) performed better than the rest in the presence of high to strong (0.80–0.99) multicollinearity situation.

We investigate the asymptotic properties of the trajectories generated by a second-order dynamical system with Hessian driven damping and a Tikhonov regularization term in connection with the minimization of a smooth convex function in Hilbert spaces. We obtain fast convergence results for the function values along the trajectories. The Tikhonov regularization term enables the derivation of strong convergence results of the trajectory to the minimizer of the objective function of minimum norm.

We propose a complete-search algorithm for solving a class of non-convex, possibly infinite-dimensional, optimization problems to global optimality. We assume that the optimization variables are in a bounded subset of a Hilbert space, and we determine worst-case run-time bounds for the algorithm under certain regularity conditions of the cost functional and the constraint set. Finally, we illustrate these results for a problem of calculus of variations.

In this short paper we study the d-Hermite condition about stably free modules for skew $$\textit{PBW}$$ extensions. For this purpose, we estimate the stable rank of these non-commutative rings. In addition, and closely related with these questions, we will prove Kronecker’s theorem about the radical of finitely generated ideals for some particular types of skew $$\textit{PBW}$$ extensions.

A classical theorem of Koksma states that for Lebesgue almost every $x>1$ the sequence $(x^n)_{n=1}^{\infty}$ is uniformly distributed modulo one. In the present paper we extend Koksma's theorem to the pair correlation setting. More precisely, we show that for Lebesgue almost every $x>1$ the pair correlations of the fractional parts of $(x^n)_{n=1}^{\infty}$ are asymptotically Poissonian. In this paper, we provide the boundedness property of the Riesz transforms associated to the Schrodinger operator $${\cal L} = \Delta + {\bf{V}}$$ in a new weighted Morrey space which is the generalized version of many previous Morrey type spaces. The additional potential V considered in this paper is a non-negative function satisfying the suitable reverse Holder’s inequality. Our results are new and general in many cases of problems. As an application of the boundedness property of these singular integral operators, we obtain some regularity results of solutions to Schrodinger equations in the new Morrey space.

Recently, the authors have established $$L^p$$ -boundedness of vector-valued q-variational inequalities for averaging operators which take values in the Banach space satisfying the martingale cotype q property in Hong and Ma (Math Z 286(1–2):89–120, 2017). In this paper, we prove that the martingale cotype q property is also necessary for the vector-valued q-variational inequalities, which was a question left open in the previous paper. Moreover, we also prove that the UMD property and the martingale cotype q property can be characterized in terms of vector valued q-variational inequalities for the Hilbert transform.

The basic aim of this paper is to provide a fundamental tool, the resolvent decomposition theorem, in the construction theory of denumerable Markov processes. We present a detailed analytic proof of this extremely useful tool and explain its clear probabilistic interpretation. We then apply this tool to investigate the basic problems of existence and uniqueness criteria for denumerable Markov processes with instantaneous states to which few results have been obtained even until now. Although the complete answers regarding these existence and uniqueness criteria will be given in a subsequent paper, we shall, in this paper, present part solutions of these very important problems that are closely linked with the subtle Williams S and N conditions.

We prove a new effective Chebotarev density theorem for Galois extensions $L/\mathbb{Q}$ that allows one to count small primes (even as small as an arbitrarily small power of the discriminant of $L$); this theorem holds for the Galois closures of "almost all" number fields that lie in an appropriate family of field extensions. Previously, applying Chebotarev in such small ranges required assuming the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis. The error term in this new Chebotarev density theorem also avoids the effect of an exceptional zero of the Dedekind zeta function of $L$, without assuming GRH. We give many different "appropriate families," including families of arbitrarily large degree. To do this, we first prove a new effective Chebotarev density theorem that requires a zero-free region of the Dedekind zeta function. Then we prove that almost all number fields in our families yield such a zero-free region. The innovation that allows us to achieve this is a delicate new method for controlling zeroes of certain families of non-cuspidal $L$-functions. This builds on, and greatly generalizes the applicability of, work of Kowalski and Michel on the average density of zeroes of a family of cuspidal $L$-functions. A surprising feature of this new method, which we expect will have independent interest, is that we control the number of zeroes in the family of $L$-functions by bounding the number of certain associated fields with fixed discriminant. As an application of the new Chebotarev density theorem, we prove the first nontrivial upper bounds for $\ell$-torsion in class groups, for all integers $\ell \geq 1$, applicable to infinite families of fields of arbitrarily large degree., Comment: 52 pages. International audience; This article is the continuation of our first work on the determination of the cases where there is equality in Courant's Nodal Domain theorem in the case of a Robin boundary condition (with Robin parameter h). For the square, our first paper focused on the case where h is large and extended results that were obtained by Pleijel, Bérard-Helffer, for the problem with a Dirichlet boundary condition. There, we also obtained some general results about the behaviour of the nodal structure (for planar domains) under a small deformation of h, where h is positive and not close to 0. In this second paper, we extend results that were obtained by Helffer-Persson-Sundqvist for the Neumann problem to the case where h > 0 is small. MSC classification (2010): 35P99, 58J50, 58J37.

The paper is devoted to one open extremal problem in the geometric function theory of complex variables associated with estimates of a functional defined on the systems of non-overlapping domains. We consider the problem of the maximum of a product of inner radii of n non-overlapping domains containing points of a unit circle and the power γ of the inner radius of a domain containing the origin. The problem was formulated in 1994 in Dubinin’s paper in the journal “Russian Mathematical Surveys” in the list of unsolved problems and then repeated in his monograph in 2014. Currently, it is not solved in general. In this paper, we obtained a solution of the problem for five simply connected domains and power γ ∈ (1; 2:57] and generalized this result to the case of multidimensional complex space.

The variance-gamma (VG) distributions form a four-parameter family that includes as special and limiting cases the normal, gamma and Laplace distributions. Some of the numerous applications include financial modelling and approximation on Wiener space. Recently, Stein’s method has been extended to the VG distribution. However, technical difficulties have meant that bounds for distributional approximations have only been given for smooth test functions (typically requiring at least two derivatives for the test function). In this paper, which deals with symmetric variance-gamma (SVG) distributions, and a companion paper (Gaunt 2018), which deals with the whole family of VG distributions, we address this issue. In this paper, we obtain new bounds for the derivatives of the solution of the SVG Stein equation, which allow for approximations to be made in the Kolmogorov and Wasserstein metrics, and also introduce a distributional transformation that is natural in the context of SVG approximation. We apply this theory to obtain Wasserstein or Kolmogorov error bounds for SVG approximation in four settings: comparison of VG and SVG distributions, SVG approximation of functionals of isonormal Gaussian processes, SVG approximation of a statistic for binary sequence comparison, and Laplace approximation of a random sum of independent mean zero random variables.

Sampling in shift-invariant spaces is a realistic model for signals with smooth spectrum. In this paper, we consider phaseless sampling and reconstruction of real-valued signals in a high-dimensional shift-invariant space from their magnitude measurements on the whole Euclidean space and from their phaseless samples taken on a discrete set with finite sampling density. The determination of a signal in a shift-invariant space, up to a sign, by its magnitude measurements on the whole Euclidean space has been shown in the literature to be equivalent to its nonseparability. In this paper, we introduce an undirected graph associated with the signal in a shift-invariant space and use connectivity of the graph to characterize nonseparability of the signal. Under the local complement property assumption on a shift-invariant space, we find a discrete set with finite sampling density such that nonseparable signals in the shift-invariant space can be reconstructed in a stable way from their phaseless samples taken on that set. In this paper, we also propose a reconstruction algorithm which provides an approximation to the original signal when its noisy phaseless samples are available only. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed algorithm to reconstruct box spline signals from their noisy phaseless samples.

In this paper we analyse the structure of the spaces of smooth type functions, generated by elements of arbitrary Hilbert spaces, as a continuation of the research in our previous papers in this series. We prove that these spaces are perfect sequence spaces. As a consequence we describe the tensor structure of sequential mappings on the spaces of smooth type functions and characterise their adjoint mappings. As an application we prove the universality of the spaces of smooth type functions on compact manifolds without boundary., 23 pages

The link between Vandiver’s conjecture and Gauss sums is well known since the papers of Iwasawa (Symposia Mathematica, vol 15, Academic Press, pp 447–459, 1975), Thaine (Mich Math J 42(2):311–344, 1995; Trans Am Math Soc 351(12):4769–4790, 1999) and Angles and Nuccio (Acta Arith 142(3):199–218, 2010). This conjecture is required in many subjects and we shall give such examples of relevant references. In this paper, we recall our interpretation of Vandiver’s conjecture in terms of minus part of the torsion of the Galois group of the maximal abelian p-ramified pro-p-extension of the p-th cyclotomic field (Sur la p-ramification abelienne (1984) vol. 20, pp. 1–26). Then we provide a specific use of Gauss sums of characters of order p of $${\mathbb {F}}_\ell ^\times $$ and prove new criteria for Vandiver’s conjecture to hold (Theorem 2 (a) using both the sets of exponents of p-irregularity and of p-primarity of suitable twists of the Gauss sums, and Theorem 2 (b) which does not need the knowledge of Bernoulli numbers or cyclotomic units). We propose in §5.2 new heuristics showing that any counterexample to the conjecture leads to excessive constraints modulo p on the above twists as $$\ell $$ varies and suggests analytical approaches to evidence. We perform numerical experiments to strengthen our arguments in the direction of the very probable truth of Vandiver’s conjecture and to inspire future research. The calculations with their PARI/GP programs are given in appendices.

In this paper, we show the existence of a weak solution to the Maxwell–Stokes type equation with a potential satisfying the Dirichlet condition, under the hypothesis that the domain has no holes, using a version of the de Rham lemma that was proved in our previous paper. We also give the regularity of weak solutions.

This is a continuation of our previous paper [14]. In [14], we introduced the first Aeppli–Chern class on compact complex manifolds, and proved that the (1, 1) curvature form of the Levi–Civita connection represents the first Aeppli–Chern class which is a natural link between Riemannian geometry and complex geometry. In this paper, we study the geometry of compact complex manifolds with Levi–Civita Ricci-flat metrics and classify minimal complex surfaces with Levi–Civita Ricci-flat metrics. More precisely, we show that minimal complex surfaces admitting Levi–Civita Ricci-flat metrics are Kahler Calabi–Yau surfaces and Hopf surfaces.

In this paper our aim is to show some new inequalities of the Redheffer type for Bessel and modified Bessel functions of the first kind. The key tools in our proofs are some classical results on the monotonicity of quotients of differentiable functions as well as on the monotonicity of quotients of two power series. We also use some known results on the quotients of Bessel and modified Bessel functions of the first kind, and by using the monotonicity of the Dirichlet eta function we prove a sharp inequality for the tangent function. At the end of the paper a conjecture is stated, which may be of interest for further research.

In the authors' first paper, Beurling-Rudin-Korenbljum type characterization of the closed ideals in a certain algebra of holomorphic functions was used to describe the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift plus a complex Volterra operator. Current work is an extension of the previous work and it describes the lattice of invariant subspaces of the shift plus a positive integer multiple of the complex Volterra operator on the Hardy space. Our work was motivated by a paper by Ong who studied the real version of the same operator., We deleted a proposition and a corollary from section 4, and simplified the proof of the main theorem. **The article has been published in Archiv der Mathematik**

In the present paper we introduce a notion of the \(\mathbb {K}\)-Riemann integral as a natural generalization of a usual Riemann integral and study its properties. The aim of this paper is to extend the classical Hermite–Hadamard inequalities to the case when the usual Riemann integral is replaced by the \(\mathbb {K}\)-Riemann integral and the convexity notion is replaced by \(\mathbb {K}\)-convexity.

This paper describes a procedure for the analytical solution of Riemann problems for multi-component, two-phase flow in general stream tube geometries in porous media. The procedure is first described for a scalar hyperbolic conservation law modeling waterflooding of an oil reservoir. Thereafter, it is easy to generalize the procedure to Riemann problems for multi-component, two-phase systems of hyperbolic conservation laws, for which the associated 1D Riemann problem has a known solution. The procedure is described for both constant flow rate and constant boundary pressures as imposed Riemann data. In the latter case, the flow rate is time-dependent and its novel analytical solution is constructed in this paper, clearly demonstrating a non-trivial impact of the flow geometry on the solution.

In this paper, we introduce the notions of differential graded (DG) Poisson algebra and DG Poisson module. Let $A$ be any DG Poisson algebra. We construct the universal enveloping algebra of $A$ explicitly, which is denoted by $A^{ue}$. We show that $A^{ue}$ has a natural DG algebra structure and it satisfies certain universal property. As a consequence of the universal property, it is proved that the category of DG Poisson modules over $A$ is isomorphic to the category of DG modules over $A^{ue}$. Furthermore, we prove that the notion of universal enveloping algebra $A^{ue}$ is well-behaved under opposite algebra and tensor product of DG Poisson algebras. We introduce here the notion of conformal semi-Riemannian map between semi-Riemannian manifolds aiming to unify and generalize two geometric concepts. The first one is studied by Garcia-Rio and Kupeli (namely, semi-Riemannian map between semi-Riemannian manifolds). The second notion is defined by Aahin (namely, conformal Riemannian map between Riemannian manifolds) as an extension of the notion of Riemannian map introduced by Fischer. We support the main notion of this paper with several classes of examples, e.g. semi-Riemanninan submersions (see O'Neill's book and Falcitelli, Ianus and Pastore's book) and isometric immersions between semi-Riemannian manifolds. As a tool, we use the screen distributions (specific in semi-Riemannian geometry) of Duggal and Bejancu's book to obtain some characterizations and to give a semi-Riemannian version of Fischer's (resp. Aahin's) results, using the new map introduced here. We study the generalized eikonal equation and at the end relate the main notion of the paper with harmonicity.

It is well known that the Gaussian symplectic ensemble is defined on the space of \(n\times n\) quaternion self-dual Hermitian matrices with Gaussian random elements. There is a huge body of literature regarding this kind of matrices based on the exact known form of the density function of the eigenvalues (see Erdős in Russ Math Surv 66(3):507–626, 2011; Erdős in Probab Theory Relat Fields 154(1–2):341–407, 2012; Erdős et al. in Adv Math 229(3):1435–1515, 2012; Knowles and Yin in Probab Theory Relat Fields, 155(3–4):543–582, 2013; Tao and Vu in Acta Math 206(1):127–204, 2011; Tao and Vu in Electron J Probab 16(77):2104–2121, 2011). Due to the fact that multiplication of quaternions is not commutative, few works about large-dimensional quaternion self-dual Hermitian matrices are seen without normality assumptions. As in natural, we shall get more universal results by removing the Gaussian condition. For the first step, in this paper, we prove that the empirical spectral distribution of the common quaternion self-dual Hermitian matrices tends to the semicircular law. The main tool to establish the universal result is given as a lemma in this paper as well.

It is well known that the validity of the so called Lenard–Magri scheme of integrability of a bi-Hamiltonian PDE can be established if one has some precise information on the corresponding 1st variational Poisson cohomology for one of the two Hamiltonian operators. In the first part of the paper we explain how to introduce various cohomology complexes, including Lie superalgebra and Poisson cohomology complexes, and basic and reduced Lie conformal algebra and Poisson vertex algebra cohomology complexes, by making use of the corresponding universal Lie superalgebra or Lie conformal superalgebra. The most relevant are certain subcomplexes of the basic and reduced Poisson vertex algebra cohomology complexes, which we identify (non-canonically) with the generalized de Rham complex and the generalized variational complex. In the second part of the paper we compute the cohomology of the generalized de Rham complex, and, via a detailed study of the long exact sequence, we compute the cohomology of the generalized variational complex for any quasiconstant coefficient Hamiltonian operator with invertible leading coefficient. In this paper, the compound Poisson risk model with surplus-dependent premium rate is analyzed in the taxation system proposed by Albrecher and Hipp (Blatter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007). In the compound Poisson risk model, Albrecher and Hipp (Blatter der DGVFM 28(1):13–28, 2007) showed that a simple relationship between the ruin probabilities in the risk model with and without tax exists. This so-called tax identity was later generalized to a surplus-dependent tax rate by Albrecher et al. (Insur Math Econ 44(2):304–306, 2009). The present paper further generalizes these results to the Gerber–Shiu function with a generalized penalty function involving the maximum surplus prior to ruin. We show that this generalized Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model with tax is closely related to the ‘original’ Gerber–Shiu function in the risk model without tax defined in a dividend barrier framework. The moments of the discounted tax payments before ruin and the optimal threshold level for the tax authority to start collecting tax payments are also examined.

The main results are for blockwise incoherent dictionaries in Hilbert spaces, which generalize the notion of joint block-diagonal mutually incoherent bases introduced by Donoho and Huo. The Bernstein inequality obtained for such dictionaries is proved to be sharp, but it has an exponent that does not match that of the corresponding Jackson inequality. In this paper, we present a new framework of bi-level unconstrained minimization for development of accelerated methods in Convex Programming. These methods use approximations of the high-order proximal points, which are solutions of some auxiliary parametric optimization problems. For computing these points, we can use different methods, and, in particular, the lower-order schemes. This opens a possibility for the latter methods to overpass traditional limits of the Complexity Theory. As an example, we obtain a new second-order method with the convergence rate $$O\left( k^{-4}\right) $$ O k - 4 , where k is the iteration counter. This rate is better than the maximal possible rate of convergence for this type of methods, as applied to functions with Lipschitz continuous Hessian. We also present new methods with the exact auxiliary search procedure, which have the rate of convergence $$O\left( k^{-(3p+1)/ 2}\right) $$ O k - ( 3 p + 1 ) / 2 , where $$p \ge 1$$ p ≥ 1 is the order of the proximal operator. The auxiliary problem at each iteration of these schemes is convex.

The notion of best approximation mapping (BAM) with respect to a closed affine subspace in finite-dimensional space was introduced by Behling, Bello Cruz and Santos to show the linear convergence of the block-wise circumcentered-reflection method. The best approximation mapping possesses two critical properties of the circumcenter mapping for linear convergence. Because the iteration sequence of BAM linearly converges, the BAM is interesting in its own right. In this paper, we naturally extend the definition of BAM from closed affine subspace to nonempty closed convex set and from $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ to general Hilbert space. We discover that the convex set associated with the BAM must be the fixed point set of the BAM. Hence, the iteration sequence generated by a BAM linearly converges to the nearest fixed point of the BAM. Connections between BAMs and other mappings generating convergent iteration sequences are considered. Behling et al.\ proved that the finite composition of BAMs associated with closed affine subspaces is still a BAM in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$. We generalize their result from $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ to general Hilbert space and also construct a new constant associated with the composition of BAMs. This provides a new proof of the linear convergence of the method of alternating projections. Moreover, compositions of BAMs associated with general convex sets are investigated. In addition, we show that convex combinations of BAMs associated with affine subspaces are BAMs. Last but not least, we connect BAM with circumcenter mapping in Hilbert spaces., 31 pages and 2 figures

We consider a special class of unipotent periods for automorphic forms on a finite cover of a reductive adelic group $$\mathbf {G}(\mathbb {A}_\mathbb {K})$$ G ( A K ) , which we refer to as Fourier coefficients associated to the data of a ‘Whittaker pair’. We describe a quasi-order on Fourier coefficients, and an algorithm that gives an explicit formula for any coefficient in terms of integrals and sums involving higher coefficients. The maximal elements for the quasi-order are ‘Levi-distinguished’ Fourier coefficients, which correspond to taking the constant term along the unipotent radical of a parabolic subgroup, and then further taking a Fourier coefficient with respect to a $${\mathbb K}$$ K -distinguished nilpotent orbit in the Levi quotient. Thus one can express any Fourier coefficient, including the form itself, in terms of higher Levi-distinguished coefficients. In companion papers we use this result to determine explicit Fourier expansions of minimal and next-to-minimal automorphic forms on split simply-laced reductive groups, and to obtain Euler product decompositions of certain Fourier coefficients.

UDC 517.9 This paper deals with the problem of stability of nonlinear differential equations with perturbations. Sufficient conditions for global uniform asymptotic stability in terms of Lyapunov-like functions and integral inequality are obtained. The asymptotic behavior is studied in the sense that the trajectories converge to a small ball centered at the origin. Furthermore, an illustrative example in the plane is given to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

We put forward a new method for obtaining quantitative lower bounds on the top Lyapunov exponent of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Our method combines (i) an (apparently new) identity connecting the top Lyapunov exponent to a Fisher information-like functional of the stationary density of the Markov process tracking tangent directions with (ii) a novel, quantitative version of H\"ormander's hypoelliptic regularity theory in an $L^1$ framework which estimates this (degenerate) Fisher information from below by a $W^{s,1}_{\mathrm{loc}}$ Sobolev norm. This method is applicable to a wide range of systems beyond the reach of currently existing mathematically rigorous methods. In this paper we generalise the results proved in [N. Katzourakis, An $L^\infty$ regularisation strategy to the inverse source identification problem for elliptic equations, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 51:2, 1349-1370 (2019)] by studying the ill-posed problem of identifying the source of a fully nonlinear elliptic equation. We assume Dirichlet data and some partial noisy information for the solution on a compact set through a fully nonlinear observation operator. We deal with the highly nonlinear nonconvex nature of the problem and the lack of weak continuity by introducing a two-parameter Tykhonov regularisation with a higher order $L^2$ "viscosity term" for the $L^\infty$ minimisation problem which allows to approximate by weakly lower semicontinuous cost functionals., 14 pages. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1811.02845

International audience; Traditionally, in reliability acceptance sampling plans, the decision to accept or reject a lot is made by performing the life tests of items. However, when the item's deterioration is described by a degradation process, it can be made based on the observed deterioration levels of the items obtained from degradation tests. In this paper, two acceptance sampling plans are developed, based on the observation of the deterioration of the items, accumulated on a given period of time. To model the degradation of the items over time, the Wiener process with positive drift is employed. Algorithms to find the parameters of the proposed sampling plans are suggested. Conditionally on the acceptance in the test, the developed sampling plans are shown to improve the reliability performance of the items in the sense that the lifetimes of the items after the reliability sampling test are stochastically larger than those before the test. Also, we compare the two sampling plans both from a technical and economical points of view.

Let M ⊑ B(X) be an algebra with nontrivial idempotents or nontrivial projections if M is a *-algebra and ZM = ℂI. In this paper, the notion of (strong) 2-local Lie automorphism normalized property is introduced and it is proved that if M has 2-local Lie automorphism normalized property and Φ: M → M is an almost additive surjective 2-local Lie isomorphism with idempotent decomposition property, then → = Ψ + τ, where Ψ is an automorphism of M or the negative of an anti-automorphism of M and τ is a homogenous map from M into ℂI. Moreover, it is proved that nest algebras on a separable complex Hilbert space II with dimII >2 and factor von Neumann algebras on a separable complex Hilbert space H with dimH > 2 have strong 2-local Lie automorphism normalized property.

In this paper, we consider the Poisson equation on a “long” domain which is the Cartesian product of a one-dimensional long interval with a (d − 1)-dimensional domain. The right-hand side is assumed to have a rank-1 tensor structure. We will present and compare methods to construct approximations of the solution which have tensor structure and the computational effort is governed by only solving elliptic problems on lower-dimensional domains. A zero-th order tensor approximation is derived by using tools from asymptotic analysis (method 1). The resulting approximation is an elementary tensor and, hence has a fixed error which turns out to be very close to the best possible approximation of zero-th order. This approximation can be used as a starting guess for the derivation of higher-order tensor approximations by a greedy-type method (method 2). Numerical experiments show that this method is converging towards the exact solution. Method 3 is based on the derivation of a tensor approximation via exponential sums applied to discretized differential operators and their inverses. It can be proved that this method converges exponentially with respect to the tensor rank. We present numerical experiments which compare the performance and sensitivity of these three methods.

In this paper, we propose a new linesearch iterative scheme for finding a common solution of split equilibrium and fixed point problems without pseudomonotonicity of the bifunction f in a real Hilbert space. When setting the solution of dual equilibrium problem is nonempty, we obtain a strong convergence theorem which is generated by the iterative scheme. Moreover, we also receive a new linesearch iterative scheme for finding a solution of the split equilibrium problem in suitable assumptions, and report some numerical results to illustrate the convergence of the proposed scheme.

In this paper we survey the estimation of nonparametric regression models using wavelets, under different conditions on the innovations, on the predictor variables, on the function spaces involved and on the regularity conditions imposed. We begin with the seminal works of Donoho and co-authors, in the regular fixed design and independent and identically Gaussian noise and move towards non-regular designs, random designs and correlated errors.

In this paper, we study a system of nonlinear Riemann–Liouville fractional differential equations with delays. First, we define in an appropriate way initial conditions which are deeply connected with the fractional derivative used. We introduce an appropriate generalization of practical stability which we call practical stability in time. Several sufficient conditions for practical stability in time are obtained using Lyapunov functions and the modified Razumikhin technique. Two types of derivatives of Lyapunov functions are used. Some examples are given to illustrate the introduced definitions and results.

A new approach in Loewner Theory proposed by Bracci, Contreras, D\'iaz-Madrigal and Gumenyuk provides a unified treatment of the radial and the chordal versions of the Loewner equations. In this framework, a generalized Loewner chain satisfies the differential equation $$ \partial_{t}f_{t}(z) = (z - \tau(t))(1-\overline{\tau(t)}z)\partial_{z}f_{t}(z)p(z,t), $$ where $\tau : [0,\infty) \to \overline{\mathbb{D}}$ is measurable and $p$ is called a Herglotz function. In this paper, we will show that if there exists a $k \in [0,1)$ such that $p$ satisfies $$ |p(z,t) - 1| \leq k |p(z,t) + 1| $$ for all $z \in \mathbb{D}$ and almost all $t \in [0,\infty)$, then $f_{t}$ has a $k$-quasiconformal extension to the whole Riemann sphere for all $t \in [0,\infty)$. The radial case ($\tau =0$) and the chordal case ($\tau=1$) have been proven by Becker [J. Reine Angew. Math. \textbf{255} (1972), 23-43] and Gumenyuk and the author (Math. Z. \textbf{285} (2017), no.3, 1063--1089). In our theorem, no superfluous assumption is imposed on $\tau \in \overline{\mathbb{D}}$. In this paper, we give a new lower bound for the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator defined on the Spin Riemannian hypersurface manifold endowed with 2-tensor, in terms of the Energy-Momentum tensor, scalar curvature and extrinsic curvature. Then this estimate is improved in two different ways by considering the conformal invariance of the Dirac operator. The first is given in term of the first eigenvalue of the Yamabe operator. In this paper we study some basic properties of the generalized derivation algebra of a multiplicative Hom–Poisson color algebra. Furthermore, we give the definitions of the generalized derivations, quasiderivations, center derivations, centroid and quasicentroid derivations of the multiplicative Hom–Poisson color algebra $${\mathcal {P}}.$$ In particular, we give some useful properties and connections between these derivations. We also prove that $$QDer({\mathcal {P}})$$ can be embedded as derivations in a larger multiplicative color Hom–Poisson algebra. Finally, we conclude that the derivation of the larger multiplicative color Hom–Poisson algebra has a direct sum decomposition when $${\mathcal {P}}$$ is centerless.

In this paper, we continue the study of Lebesgue-type inequalities for greedy algorithms. We introduce the notion of strong partially greedy Markushevich bases and study the Lebesgue-type parameters associated with them. We prove that this property is equivalent to that of being conservative and quasi-greedy, extending a similar result given in Dilworth et al. (Constr Approx 19:575–597, 2003) for Schauder bases. We also give a characterization of 1-strong partial greediness, following the study started in Albiac and Ansorena (Rev Matem Compl 30(1):13–24, 2017), Albiac and Wojtaszczyk (J Approx Theory 138:65–86, 2006).

In this paper, we deal with the existence and concentration of normalized solutions to the supercritical nonlinear Schrodinger equation $$\left\{ {\matrix{ { - {\rm{\Delta }}u + V\left( x \right)u = {\mu _q}u + a{{\left| u \right|}^q}u\,\,\,{\rm{in}}\,{\mathbb{R}^2},} \hfill \cr {\int_{{\mathbb{R}^2}} {{{\left| u \right|}^2}dx = 1,} } \hfill \cr } } \right.$$ where μq is the Lagrange multiplier. We show that for q > 2 close to 2, the problem admits two solutions: one is the local minimal solution uq and the other one is the mountain pass solution υq. Furthermore, we study the limiting behavior of uq and υq when q → 2+. Particularly, we describe precisely the blow-up formation of the excited state υq.

This paper concerns the study of the asymptotic behavior of the solutions to a family of fractional type problems on a bounded domain, satisfying homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. The family of differential operators includes the fractional $$p_n$$ -Laplacian when $$p_n\rightarrow \infty $$ as a particular case, tough it could be extended to a function of the Holder quotient of order s, whose primitive is an Orlicz function satisfying appropriated growth conditions. The limit equation involves the Holder infinity Laplacian.

A well-known conjecture of Frankl and F\"{u}redi from 1989 states that an initial segment of colex of has the largest Lagrangian of any $r$-uniform hypergraph with $m$ hyperedges. We show that this is true when $r=3$. In this paper, we use a unified framework to study Poisson stable (including stationary, periodic, quasi-periodic, almost periodic, almost automorphic, Birkhoff recurrent, almost recurrent in the sense of Bebutov, Levitan almost periodic, pseudo-periodic, pseudo-recurrent and Poisson stable) solutions for semilinear stochastic differential equations driven by infinite dimensional Levy noise with large jumps. Under suitable conditions on drift, diffusion and jump coefficients, we prove that there exist solutions which inherit the Poisson stability of coefficients. Further we show that these solutions are globally asymptotically stable in square-mean sense. Finally, we illustrate our theoretical results by several examples.

We study a variety for graded maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules, which was introduced by Dao and Shipman. The main result of this paper asserts that there are only a finite number of isomorphism classes of graded maximal Cohen–Macaulay modules with fixed Hilbert series over Cohen–Macaulay algebras of graded countable representation type.
