In 1666 the sleepy little hamlet near Grantham in Lincolnshire, eastern England, hosted a world-changing event centering around one remarkable person. History tells us that this was by no means an “ordinary” person – although in many respects he was just as fallible and human as any other mortal. It’s a measure of the indelible impact that this person had on the world that his name is not only remembered in history lessons but lives on in the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, and optics to a greater extent even than that of Galileo. That extraordinary human being was Isaac Newton.
