Background: Class II malocclusion, particularly class II division 1, poses a significant orthodontic challenge with implications for both aesthetics and health. This study aimed to explore the impact of twin-block (TB) combined with maxillary expansion treatment (TB-ME) on upper airway dimensions and inflammatory profiles in adolescents with skeletal Class II Division 1 malocclusion in adolescent. Methods: Ninety-two eligible patients were randomly assigned to two groups: TB-ME treatment and traditional McLaughlin Bennett Trevisi (MBT) straight-wire orthodontic treatment (Control). Cephalometric lateral X-ray scans were conducted before and after treatment to assess skeletal changes, including SNA, ANB, and SNB angles, which are essential to assess the anteroposterior relationships of the maxilla and mandible to the cranial base. We also measured the upper airway volumes and areas. Concentrations of inflammatory factors including intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), matrix metallopeptidase 2 (MMP2), and interleukin 8 (IL-8) of gingival crevicular fluid analysis (GCF) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: TB-ME treatment induced significant improvement in cephalometric parameters, including a decrease in SNA and ANB angles and an increase in SNB angle. Upper airway volumes and areas increased significantly in both groups, with TB-ME showing greater improvements. GCF analysis revealed a reduction in ICAM-1, MMP2, and IL-8 concentrations in the TB-ME group compared to the Control group. Conclusions: TB-ME treatment demonstrates multifaceted improvements in skeletal malocclusion, upper airway dimensions, and inflammatory profiles in adolescents with class II division 1 malocclusion, showing the promise of TB-ME in addressing the complexities associated with class II malocclusion. Nucleic acid modifications have attracted increasing attention in recent years since they have been found to be related to a number of diseases including cancer. Previous studies have shown that the early development of endometrial cancer (EC) is often accompanied by changes in methylation levels of related genes, and the expression of related proteins that regulate reactive oxygen species (ROS) shows significant differences in EC cells and tissues. However, it has not been reported whether nucleic acid modifications related to methylation or ROS can serve as biomarkers for EC. Accurate quantification of these nucleic acid modifications still has challenges because their amounts in urine are very low and the interferences in urine are complicated. In this study, a novel dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE) method based on chitosan-carbon nanotube-Al2O3 (CS-CNT-Al2O3) has been established for the analysis of 5-hydroxymethyluracil (5 mU), 5-methyl-2′-deoxycytidine (5-mdC), 5-hydroxymethyl-2′-deoxycytidine (5-hmdC), 5-formyl-2′-deoxycytidine (5-fdC), and 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in EC patient urine samples coupled with UHPLC-QE-Orbitrap-MS/MS and HPLC–UV. Firstly, the synthesis of the CS-CNT-Al2O3 nanocomposite was conducted by a sono-coprecipitation method and was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Under the optimal extraction conditions of DSPE, we successfully quantified 5 mU, 5-mdC, 5-hmdC, 5-fdC, and 8-OHdG in urine samples from 37 EC patients and 39 healthy controls. The results showed that there were significant differences in the levels of 5-mdC, 5-hmdC, 5-fdC, and 8-OHdG in EC patients compared to the healthy control group. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was carried out to evaluate the potential of 5-mdC, 5-hmdC, 5-fdC, and 8-OHdG to distinguish EC patients from healthy volunteers. The area under the curve (AUC) for 5-mdC, 5-hmdC, 5-fdC, and 8-OHdG was 0.7412, 0.667, 0.8438, and 0.7981, respectively. It indicated that 5-mdC, 5-hmdC, 5-fdC, and 8-OHdG had certain potential in distinguishing between EC patients and healthy volunteers and they could act as potential non-invasive biomarkers for early diagnosis of EC. With the extensive applications of nanomaterials in drug delivery in recent years, nanocarriers with composite polymers, represented by liposomal gels, have been studied for drug delivery for numerous diseases. The drug is loaded inside the liposomal gel and is endowed with specific temperature, pH, enzyme, light, electric field and other stimulating materials; further, the release of the loaded drug is controlled by specific stimuli. Liposomal gels provide better stability for drug formulation and obtaining higher targeting and stimulus responsiveness compared to single nano-drug-loaded materials. Hence, the toxic side effects of drugs can be effectively reduced and the drug delivery efficiency, therapeutic efficacy and safety can be considerably improved. At present, research on liposome gels as drug delivery carriers is still under developing stage, and their advantages as drug carriers will be more useful in practice and become a powerful tool for human beings to cure diseases in the future. In the future studies, the synthesis and stimuli-responsive mechanism of liposomal gels can be further explored to expand their applications in the field of disease treatment and provide more innovative solutions for precision medicine and individualised therapy. This review explores the application of liposome gels with stimuli-responsiveness as drug carriers for treating diseases, the advantages of liposome gels as drug carriers, the methods and principles of their fabrication, the stimuli-responsiveness of liposome gels for targeted release against diseases and its current challenges and opportunities to suggest certain methods and ideas for the development of smarter precision-targeted hybrid nanosystems in the future. A magnetic fluorescent molecularly imprinted sensor was successfully prepared and implemented to determine catechol (CT). Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesized by the solvothermal technique and mesoporous Fe3O4@SiO2@mSiO2 imprinted carriers were prepared by coating nonporous and mesoporous SiO2 shells on the surface of the Fe3O4 subsequently. The magnetic surface molecularly imprinted fluorescent sensor was created after the magnetic mesoporous carriers were modified with γ-methacryloxyl propyl trimethoxy silane to introduce double bonds on the surface of the carries and the polymerization was carried out in the presence of CT and fluorescent monomers. The magnetic mesoporous carriers were modified with γ-methacryloxyl propyl trimethoxy silane and double bonds were introduced on the surface of the carriers. After CT binding with the molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), the fluorescent intensity of the molecularly imprinted polymers (Ex = 400 nm, Em = 523 nm) increased significantly. The fluorescent intensity ratio (F/F0) of the sensor demonstrated a favorable linear correlation with the concentration of CT between 5 and 50 μM with a detection limit of 0.025 μM. Furthermore, the sensor was successfully applied to determine CT in actual samples with recoveries of 96.4–105% and relative standard deviations were lower than 3.5%. Based on the self-regulation theory, this study aims to examine the relationship between youths' future orientation and judgment of their own immoral behaviors. A moderated mediation model was constructed to investigate the mediating role of moral disengagement and moderating role of self-control. Six hundred and twenty-eight Chinese youths, with an age range from 16 to 34 years (M = 23.08, SD = 2.65), were recruited to take part in an anonymous survey about future orientation, moral disengagement, self-control, and moral judgment. Results revealed that youths with high future orientation judged their own moral transgressions more harshly and that moral disengagement partially mediated the relationship between the two. Moderated mediation analysis further demonstrated that self-control moderated the relationship between future orientation and moral disengagement and the indirect effect between future orientation and youths' judgment of their own immoral behaviors. To be specific, the indirect effect was much stronger for youths with high levels of self-control. These findings not only enrich the research about how future orientation affects youths' judgment of their own immoral behaviors, but also reveal the underlying mechanisms between future orientation and moral judgment, which can provide practical guidance for implementing measures that effectively enhance youths' moral character and cultivate their ability to think positively about the future. Yield and quality are two crucial breeding objects of wheat therein grain weight and grain protein content (GPC) are two key relevant factors correspondingly. Investigations of their genetic mechanisms represent special significance for breeding. In this study, 199 F2 plants and corresponding F2:3 families derived from Nongda3753 (ND3753) and its EMS-generated mutant 564 (M564) were used to investigate the genetic basis of larger grain and higher GPC of M564. QTL analysis identified a total of 33 environmentally stable QTLs related to thousand grain weight (TGW), grain area (GA), grain circle (GC), grain length (GL), grain width (GW), and GPC on chromosomes 1B, 2A, 2B, 4D, 6B, and 7D, respectively, among which QGw.cau-6B.1, QTgw.cau-6B.1, QGa.cau-6B.1, and QGc.cau-6B.1 shared overlap confidence interval on chromosome 6B. This interval contained the TaGW2 gene playing the same role as the QTLs, so TaGW2-6B was cloned and sequenced. Sequence alignment revealed two G/A SNPs between two parents, among which the SNP in the seventh exon led to a premature termination in M564. A KASP marker was developed based on the SNP, and single-marker analysis on biparental populations showed that the mutant allele could significantly increase GW and TGW, but had no effect on GPC. Distribution detection of the mutant allele through KASP marker genotyping and sequence alignment against databases ascertained that no materials harbored this allele within natural populations. This allele was subsequently introduced into three different varieties through molecular marker-assisted backcrossing, and it was revealed that the allele had a significant effect on simultaneously increasing GW, TGW, and even GPC in all of three backgrounds. Summing up the above, it could be concluded that a novel elite allele of TaGW2-6B was artificially created and might play an important role in wheat breeding for high yield and quality. Drawing upon terror management theory, the present study aimed to examine how mortality salience influences youth materialism as well as to explore the mediating role of future orientation and the moderating role of awe in the focal relationship. Three sub-studies (N = 2568) were conducted to test our theoretically driven hypotheses. In a large representative Chinese sample (Study 1), a set of questionnaires were used to provide preliminary evidence for our moderated mediation model. A positive association was found between mortality salience and youth materialism via future orientation; this association was much weaker for youths higher in trait awe. In follow-up studies, two priming experiments were performed to further improve the robustness of our hypothesized model. Youths in the mortality salience condition reported lower future orientation and higher materialism than those in the control condition. Inductions of mortality salience increased materialism by decreasing future orientation and that this mediation was conditioned on the level of trait awe (Study 2) and priming awe (Study 3). The findings not only illuminate the role of future orientation in explaining why mortality salience makes youths more materialistic but also highlight the role of awe in buffering the link between mortality salience and youth materialism. Thus, this work offers a significant contribution to prevention and intervention programs that aim to protect youths from the negative impact of death-related information and to promote their positive development. Endometrial cancer is known to be an estrogen-dependent cancer, and it is believed that exposure to estrogens increases the risk of developing endometrial cancer in the absence of progesterone. Estrogens and estrogen metabolites may help to predict the risk of endometrial hyperplasia (EH) with atypia. Estrogens and estrogen metabolites were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS) in the first morning urine sample collected from 150 patients with EH and 50 healthy premenopausal women in the study. In healthy premenopausal women, the level of 16α-hydroxyestrone (16α-OHE1) in the overweight group was significantly higher than that in the lean group (p < 0.05). The levels of 4-hydroxyestradiol (4-OHE2) and 16α-OHE1 were elevated in the AEH group as compared to that in the control group (p < 0.05). Overweight is related to EH incidence as it causes an imbalance of estrogen metabolites. This study provides identifies potential biomarkers for estrogen-induced AEH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems have become a favourable platform for target specificity in disease treatment, although their side effects and toxicity remain controversial. Plant polysaccharide nanoparticles are safe, natural biomaterials that have become candidate materials for nano-drug delivery systems due to their excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility. In addition to becoming candidate materials, plant polysaccharide nanoparticles show excellent pharmacokinetic and drug delivery characteristics as carrier materials to manipulate small drug molecules at the nanoscale, mainly improving medicine solubility, reducing medicine toxicity and side effects and enhancing biological targeting of medicines. Therefore, the application of plant polysaccharide nanoparticles in the field of drug delivery systems may become the focus of future studies. Here we review the carrier function of plant polysaccharide nanoparticles as a polymeric material in drug delivery. The limitations and challenges of applying plant polysaccharide nanoparticles in drug carrier systems are highlighted with the aim to provide a reference for their precise development. The human gastrointestinal tract houses an enormous microbial ecosystem. Recent studies have shown that the gut microbiota plays significant physiological roles and maintains immune homeostasis in the human body. Dysbiosis, an imbalanced gut microbiome, can be associated with various disease states, as observed in infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Modulation of the gut microbiome has become a therapeutic target in treating these disorders. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from a healthy donor restores the normal gut microbiota homeostasis in the diseased host. Ample evidence has demonstrated the efficacy of FMT in recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (rCDI). The application of FMT in other human diseases is gaining attention. This review aims to increase our understanding of the mechanisms of FMT and its efficacies in human diseases. We discuss the application, route of administration, limitations, safety, efficacies, and suggested mechanisms of FMT in rCDI, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Promoting the psychosocial flourishing of emerging adults is crucially important. The tendency to feel awe, as captured by dispositional awe, may be a protective factor that promotes psychosocial flourishing. Inspired by the broaden-and-build theory, the present study sought to investigate the underexplored relationship between dispositional awe and psychosocial flourishing among emerging adults by establishing a dual-mediated model, which focuses on an intrapersonal mechanism of meaning in life and an interpersonal mechanism of social connectedness. Data were collected from a cross-sectional sample of 1213 Chinese emerging adults who completed a series of anonymous questionnaires regarding dispositional awe, psychosocial flourishing, meaning in life, and social connectedness. Results of the correlation analysis revealed positive and significant associations among dispositional awe, meaning in life, social connectedness, and psychosocial flourishing. Structural equation modeling demonstrated that meaning in life and social connectedness fully mediated the association between dispositional awe and psychosocial flourishing. The mediation effect of meaning in life was stronger than that of social connectedness. These findings contributes to the science of flourishing by identifying the internal mechanisms of why dispositional awe promotes the psychosocial flourishing of emerging adults. Fulvic acid (FA) can significantly alleviate cadmium (Cd) stress, but the specific metabolic response of FA to Cd toxicity is still not clarified. In the present study, we used untargeted metabolomic [gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS)] analysis to profile cucumber metabolism in response to Cd stress after spray application of FA. Our results showed that 331 differentially enriched metabolites (DEMs) were identified in leaf materials. These DEMs were enriched in 21 shared pathways in comparative groups of "Cd treatment vs. the control treatment" and "FA + Cd treatment vs. the Cd treatment." Specifically, treatment with FA significantly enhanced the organic acid content (citric acid, isocitric acid, 2-oxoglutaric acid, fumaric acid, and malic acid), which would contribute to provide sufficient substrates for the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and amino acid biosynthesis, thereby ensuring the normal production of energy and amino acid. At the same time, FA significantly increased the amino acid content (aspartate, citrulline, histidine, leucine, and phenylalanine). The accumulation of organic acid and amino acid can act as chelating agents for heavy metal ions and as scavengers of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby reducing intracellular oxidative damage. Furthermore, the application of FA improves antioxidant enzymes and accelerates ROS clearance. The improved contents of organic acid and amino acid, and the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes both played a central role in the reduction of malondialdehyde (MDA, 14.08%), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2, 61.70%) contents, and superoxide anion radical (O2−, 30.41%) production rate in plants under Cd stress. Taken together, the present study demonstrates the effects of FA on the antioxidant capacity and carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism of cucumber seedlings exposed to Cd stress, which provides comprehensive insights into the regulation of plants' response to Cd toxicity with FA was applied in cucumber. In the world, chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been recognized as one of the critical public health problems, and the prevalence is higher in the elderly people. However, there are few studies on the association between exposure to multiple serum metal levels and CKD. A case–control study, we established, for elderly people in Anhui Province, China, to explore the effects of different metals and analyze the effect of mixed exposure on CKD. In this study, 287 cases of CKD and 287 controls were selected in the elderly health physical examination project in Tongling City, Anhui Province. Questionnaire survey, physical examination, and blood collection were conducted. Graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) were used to measure the concentration of serum metals. After selecting by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), 5 metals were brought into the multi-metal model. After adjusting all potential covariates additionally, the concentrations of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), cobalt (Co), and manganese (Mn) were significantly associated with CKD risk, whereas Pb, Se, and Cd had significant non-linearity with CKD. Besides, patients with highest quartiles of cobalt (Co), lead (Pb), and manganese (Mn) were 1.64, 1.39, and 0.64 times more possible to have CKD, respectively, as compared with the lowest levels. In the Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) model, cadmium (Cd) had a combined effect with lead (Pb) possibly. This study suggested that the CKD risk was associated with exposure of multiple metals in elderly people. Large-scale intact glycopeptide identification has been advanced by software tools. However, tools for quantitative analysis remain lagging behind, which hinders exploring the differential site-specific glycosylation. Here, we report pGlycoQuant, a generic tool for both primary and tandem mass spectrometry-based intact glycopeptide quantitation. pGlycoQuant advances in glycopeptide matching through applying a deep learning model that reduces missing values by 19–89% compared with Byologic, MSFragger-Glyco, Skyline, and Proteome Discoverer, as well as a Match In Run algorithm for more glycopeptide coverage, greatly expanding the quantitative function of several widely used search engines, including pGlyco 2.0, pGlyco3, Byonic and MSFragger-Glyco. Further application of pGlycoQuant to the N-glycoproteomic study in three different metastatic HCC cell lines quantifies 6435 intact N-glycopeptides and, together with in vitro molecular biology experiments, illustrates site 979-core fucosylation of L1CAM as a potential regulator of HCC metastasis. We expected further applications of the freely available pGlycoQuant in glycoproteomic studies. Recently, the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has attracted global attention. Meanwhile, CVD has become the leading cause of death in China. Some epidemiological studies have indicated that ambient air pollution may contribute to increased mortality from CVD diseases. Many studies have found a strong association between air pollutants and the risk of CVD deaths in some big cities, but few have focused on the effects of six pollutants in rural areas. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of six air pollutants (CO, NO2, O3, PM2.5, PM10, and SO2) on CVD deaths of rural areas in Anhui Province and to further clarify which populations were susceptible to air pollution. First, the generalized additive models were combined with the distributed lag nonlinear models to evaluate the individual effects of air pollution on CVD deaths in each area. Then, random-effects models were used to aggregate the associations between air pollutants and CVD mortality risk in nine regions. Overall, all six pollutants had a statistically significant effect on the risk of CVD deaths on the lag 07 days. The associations between PM2.5, PM10, and SO2 and daily CVD deaths were strongest, with maximum cumulative RR (lag 07) of 1.91 (1.64–2.18), 2.27 (1.50–3.05), and 2.13 (1.44–2.82). In general, we found that six air pollutants were the important risk factors for CVD and specific CVD deaths in Anhui Province. The elderly were susceptible to PM2.5, PM10, and SO2. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is a classical receptor tyrosine kinase, is involved in the protective effect of morphine against ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced myocardial mitochondrial damage. Methods: Isolated rats hearts were subjected to global ischemia followed by reperfusion. Cardiac H9c2 cells were exposed to a simulated ischemia solution followed by Tyrode's solution to induce hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury. Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) was used to measure infarct size. The mitochondrial morphological and functional changes were determined using transmission election microscopy (TEM), mitochondrial stress assay, and mitochondrial swelling, respectively. Mitochondrial fluorescence indicator JC-1, DCFH-DA, and Mitosox Red were used to determine mitochondrial membrane potential (△Ψm), intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial superoxide. A TUNUL assay kit was used to detect the level of apoptosis. Western blotting analysis was used to measure the expression of proteins. Results: Treatment of isolated rat hearts with morphine prevented I/R-induced myocardial mitochondrial injury, which was inhibited by the selective EGFR inhibitor AG1478, suggesting that EGFR is involved in the mitochondrial protective effect of morphine under I/R conditions. In support of this hypothesis, the selective EGFR agonist epidermal growth factor (EGF) reduced mitochondrial morphological and functional damage similarly to morphine. Further study demonstrated that morphine may alleviate I/R-induced cardiac damage by inhibiting autophagy but not apoptosis. Morphine increased protein kinase B (Akt), extracellular regulated protein kinases (ERK) and signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT-3) phosphorylation, which was inhibited by AG1478, and EGF had similar effects, indicating that morphine may activate Akt, ERK, and STAT-3 via EGFR. Morphine and EGF increased intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. This effect of morphine was inhibited by AG1478, indicating that morphine promotes intracellular ROS generation by activating EGFR. However, morphine did not increase ROS generation when cells were transfected with siRNA against EGFR. In addition, EGFR activity was markedly increased by morphine, but the effect of morphine was reversed by naltrindole. These results suggest that morphine may activate EGFR via δ-opioid receptor activation. Conclusions: Morphine may prevent I/R-induced myocardial mitochondrial damage by activating EGFR through δ-opioid receptors, in turn increasing RISK and SAFE pathway activity via intracellular ROS. Genome-wide association studies were conducted using a globally diverse safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Genebank collection for grain yield (YP), days to flowering (DF), plant height (PH), 500 seed weight (SW), seed oil content (OL), and crude protein content (PR) in four environments (sites) that differed in water availability. Phenotypic variation was observed for all traits. YP exhibited low overall genetic correlations (rGoverall) across sites, while SW and OL had high rGoverall and high pairwise genetic correlations (rGij) across all pairwise sites. In total, 92 marker-trait associations (MTAs) were identified using three methods, single locus genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using a mixed linear model (MLM), the Bayesian multi-locus method (BayesR), and meta-GWAS. MTAs with large effects across all sites were detected for OL, SW, and PR, and MTAs specific for the different water stress sites were identified for all traits. Five MTAs were associated with multiple traits; 4 of 5 MTAs were variously associated with the three traits of SW, OL, and PR. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of six air pollutants (CO, NO2, O3, PM2.5, PM10, and SO2) on non-accidental and respiratory deaths in rural areas of Anhui Province by adjusting for confounding factors, and to further clarify which populations were susceptible to death associated with air pollution. In the first phase of the analysis, the generalized additive models were combined with the distributed lag non-linear models to evaluate the individual effects of air pollution on death in each area. In the second stage, random-effects models were used to aggregate the associations between air pollutants and mortality risk in nine areas. Overall, six pollutants had the strongest effects on the risk of death on the lag 07 days. The associations between PM2.5 and NO2 and daily non-accidental deaths were strongest, with maximum RR (lag 07): 1.63 (1.37–1.88) and 1.67 (1.37–1.96). The maximum pooled effects of association between six air pollutants and RD were PM2.5, with RR (lag 07): 1.89 (1.45–2.34). PM2.5 and PM10 had significant differences between the elderly and the non-elderly with respectively, RRR: 1.22 (1.04–1.41) and 1.26 (1.11–1.42). In general, we found that six air pollutants were the important risk factors for deaths (deaths from respiratory disease and non-accidental) in rural areas of Anhui Province. Whereas elimination of damaged mitochondria by mitophagy is proposed to be cardioprotective, the regulation of mitophagy at reperfusion and the underlying mechanism remain elusive. Since mitochondrial Zn2+ may control mitophagy by regulating mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), we hypothesized that the zinc transporter ZIP7 that controls Zn2+ levels within mitochondria would contribute to reperfusion injury by regulating mitophagy. Mouse hearts were subjected to ischemia/reperfusion in vivo. Mitophagy was evaluated by detecting mitoLC3II, mito-Keima, and mitoQC. ROS were measured with DHE and mitoB. Infarct size was measured with TTC staining. The cardiac-specific ZIP7 conditional knockout mice (ZIP7 cKO) were generated by adopting the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Human heart samples were obtained from donors and recipients of heart transplant surgeries. KO or cKO of ZIP7 increased mitophagy under physiological conditions. Mitophagy was not activated at the early stage of reperfusion in mouse hearts. ZIP7 is upregulated at reperfusion and ZIP7 cKO enhanced mitophagy upon reperfusion. cKO of ZIP7 led to mitochondrial depolarization by increasing mitochondrial Zn2+ and, accumulation of PINK1 and Parkin in mitochondria, suggesting that the decrease in mitochondrial Zn2+ in response to ZIP7 upregulation resulting in mitochondrial hyperpolarization may impede PINK1 and Parkin accumulation in mitochondria. Notably, ZIP7 is markedly upregulated in cardiac mitochondria from patients with heart failure (HF), whereas mitochondrial PINK1 accumulation and mitophagy were suppressed. Furthermore, ZIP7 cKO reduced mitochondrial ROS generation and myocardial infarction via a PINK1-dependet manner, whereas overexpression of ZIP7 exacerbated myocardial infarction. Our findings identify upregulation of ZIP7 leading to suppression of mitophagy as a critical feature of myocardial reperfusion injury. In order to investigate how technological innovation (TI) and business model design (BMD) affect the business performance of SMEs, samples of 268 SMEs in the artificial intelligence industry and hierarchical regression models are used in the analysis. The results indicate that TI, BMD, and the matching of them have different effects on the innovation of SMEs of different sizes. As the scale of the power grid becomes larger, the requirements for transmission reliability are getting higher. Due to the large geographical span and the harsh environment of the power transmission line, it has become the most severely affected equipment of the power grid by natural factors. However, the quantitative assessment of transmission line tripping accidents caused by multiple natural hazards has rarely been investigated. In this study, a risk analysis method to probabilistically analyze the tripping accidents of power transmission lines caused by wildfire, lightning, strong wind and ice storm was proposed. The analysis process consists of comprehensively identifying the risk of tripping accidents based on fault tree analysis and dynamically performing the predictive analysis of tripping accident evolution process in transmission line from causes to consequences based on Bayesian network. Critical risk evolution paths corresponding to four natural hazards are determined through a 72-node BN. The source risks of the four critical risk evolution paths are artificial ignition source from the wildfire path, aging from the lightning path, thoughtless of surrounding environment from the strong wind path and wind effect from the ice storm path. The countermeasures of tripping accidents are derived through the source risks and synergy between risks in three scenario analysis. This study is expected to examine the key challenges of risk management in power grid tripping accidents, which provides technical supports for accident preventing, handling and recovering of tripping accidents of the power transmission line according to "scenario–response"-based hazard response strategy. Neuronal MHC class I proteins have been previously reported to regulate synaptic plasticity. Several reports indicate MHC class I proteins are expressed early during development of the nervous system, suggesting they may also play a role in neuronal development. Using cultured cortical neurons, we show MHC class I proteins aggregate at specific sites in neuronal cell bodies, which overlap with the actin cytoskeleton. Knockout of MHC class I in cultured neurons increases total dendritic length and the number of branch points. These effects are abolished by reintroducing MHC class I expression. Similarly, blocking of MHC class I proteins or PirB by an MHCI antibody or a soluble PirB ectodomain respectively, mimics the knock out phenotype of increased dendritic branching. This effect is correlated with decreased phosphorylation of both LIMK and cofilin, suggesting it may be mediated by an induction of cofilin activity. Finally, layer II and III cortical neurons in the sensorimotor region of an MHC class I deficiency mouse model show increased dendritic growth and branching. Persistent use of the diphenyl ether herbicides oxyfluorfen may seriously increase the health risks and ecological safety problems. A newly bacterium R-21 isolated from active soil was able to degrade and utilize oxyfluorfen as the sole carbon source. R-21 was identified as Chryseobacterium aquifrigidense by morphology, physiobiochemical characteristics, and genetic analysis. Under the optimum cultural conditions (pH 6.9, temperature 33.4 °C, and inoculum size 0.2 g L), R-21 could degrade 92.1 % of oxyfluorfen at 50 mg L within 5 days. During oxyfluorfen degradation, six metabolites were detected and identified by atmospheric pressure gas chromatography coupled to quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry and ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry, and a plausible degradation pathway was deduced. Common genetic variants (single nucleotide polymorphisms SNPs) in microRNA (miRNA) genes may alter their maturation or expression and play a role in the formation of human cancer. Recently, the association between the SNP rs6505162 in pre-miR-423 and cancer risk has been frequently evaluated in diverse populations and in a range of cancers. In this study, we determined the genotypes of SNP rs6505162 in 5 matched cell lines (breast cancer cell lines and their corresponding peripheral blood cell lines) and 114 matched clinical specimens (clinical breast carcinoma specimens and their corresponding normal tissues), compared the processing efficiency of pri-miRNA to mature forms between pre-miR-423-12C (wild-type) and pre-miR-423-12A (mutant-type) expression vectors, and evaluated the function of miR-423 on cell proliferation. Our data showed that two out of five breast cancer cell lines and 8.77 % (10/114) of tumors underwent somatic mutations of the rs6505162 SNP, and somatic mutation state was significantly correlated with the expression of clinicopathologic variables, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and mutant p53. The pre-miR-423-12C SNP blocked the endogenous processing of pri-miR-423 to its two mature miRNAs. Interestingly, selected pre-miR-423-12C stable cell population had lower proliferation ability than pre-miR-423-12A stable cell population. Moreover, miR-423 promoted cell proliferation in breast cancer cell lines through its miR-423-3p strand, not miR-423-5p. Taken together, these results suggest that the SNP rs6505162 in pre-miR-423 affects the mature miR expression, and miR-423 plays a potentially oncogenic role in breast tumorigenesis. Concentrations of eight heavy metals (arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn)) were measured in 92 topsoil samples collected from agricultural areas in Daye City to (1) assess the distribution of these heavy metals, (2) discriminate natural and anthropic contributions, and (3) identify possible sources of pollution. Mean concentrations of As, Cd, Cu, and Zn in the investigated soils were 23.8, 1.41, 105, and 159 mg kg, respectively. These values were higher, in some cases by several orders of magnitude, than their corresponding background values. Estimated ecological risks, based on contamination factors and potential ecological risk indexes, were mostly low, but were considerable for As and Cd. A range of basic and multivariate statistical analyses (Pearson's correlation analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis, and principal component analysis) clearly revealed two distinct metal groups, comprising As/Cd/Cu/Zn and Cr/Ni/Hg/Pb, whose concentrations were closely associated with the distribution and pollution characteristics of industries in and around the city. Results demonstrated that As/Cd/Cu/Zn were indicators of anthropic pollution, while Cr/Hg/Ni/Pb were from parent materials. Maps of pollutant distribution compiled for the entire arable area further indicated that non-ferrous metal smelting and mining is the main source of diffuse pollution, and also showed the contribution of point source pollution to metal concentrations in agricultural topsoil. We conducted a cross-sectional survey including 23869 participants and aimed to measure the prevalences of and risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in a Chinese rural population. CKD and DKD status was defined according to the combination of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and presence of albuminuria Participant completed a questionnaire involving life-style and relevant medical history, and the blood and urinary specimen were taken. The age- and gender- adjusted prevalences of CKD and DKD were calculated and risk factors associated with the presence of CKD and DKD were analyzed by logistic regression. The overall prevalence of CKD was 16.4% (15.9–16.8%) and of DKD was 2.9% (2.7–3.1%). In participants with diabetes, the overall prevalence of CKD was 35.5% (95% CI = 33.7–37.3%). Factors independently associated with renal damage were age, gender, education, personal income, alcohol consumption, overweight, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia. Our study shows current prevalences of CKD and DKD in Chinese rural residents. Further researches could identify potential factors explaining the observed differences and implement the interventions to relieve the high burden of CKD and DKD in rural population.
