Sporadic Alzheimer's disease (SAD) represents a major health concern especially among elderly. Noteworthy, neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are highly implicated in AD pathogenesis resulting in enhanced disease progression. Moreover, most of the available anti-Alzheimer drugs have several adverse effects with variable efficacy, therefore new strategies, including agents with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, are encouraged. Along these lines, canagliflozin (CAN), with its anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic activities, presents a promising candidate for AD treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of CAN via regulation of AMPK/SIRT-1/BDNF/GSK-3β signaling pathway in SAD. SAD model was induced by intracerebroventricular streptozotocin injection (ICV-STZ;3 mg/kg, once), while CAN was administered (10 mg/kg/day, orally) to STZ-treated mice for 21 days. Behavioral tests, novel object recognition (NOR), Y-Maze, and Morris Water Maze (MWM) tests, histopathological examination, total adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (T-AMPK) expression, p-AMPK, and silent information regulator-1 (SIRT-1) were evaluated. Furthermore, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), Tau protein, insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE), nuclear factor erythroid-2 (Nrf-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), nuclear factor kappa-B-p65 (NFκB-p65), beta-site APP cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE-1), and amyloid beta (Aβ) plaque were assessed. CAN restored STZ-induced cognitive deficits, confirmed by improved behavioral tests and histopathological examination. Besides, CAN halted STZ-induced neurotoxicity through activation of p-AMPK/SIRT-1/BDNF pathway, subsequently reduction of GSK-3β, Tau protein, AChE, NFκB-p65, IL-6, BACE-1, and Aβ plaque associated with increased IDE and Nrf-2. Consequentially, our findings assumed that CAN, via targeting p-AMPK/SIRT-1 pathway, combated neuroinflammation and oxidative stress in STZ-induced AD. Background: An inflammatory disorder known as trigger finger (TF) results in pain in the proximal and distal palm and digit, as well as restricted movement and diminished function. Physiotherapists use a specific treatment called dry needling (DN) to reduce musculoskeletal pain and assist patients with mobility restriction. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of DN on quality of life in patients suffering from trigger finger. Methods: Forty patients, ranging in age from 45 to 75, were randomized into one of two groups in this Prospective pre and post-test, single-blind parallel group randomized controlled trial. Twenty patients were assigned to the intervention group, which included traditional physiotherapy splinting and ultrasound (ultrasonic dosage was 3MHz, the intensity of 0.5 W/cm2, and the duty cycle 50%. Duration: 5 minutes) as well as to DN upon a nodule at the proximal end of the 1st annular (A1) pulley as well as the discrepancy that existed between the flexor tendon's diameter along with its sheath at the metacarpal head. Twenty patients were assigned to the control group, which consisted of traditional treatment alone, twice weekly, for a total of ten sessions over five weeks. The trial evaluated the quality of life, severity of pain, and hand grip strength using the World Health Organization Quality-of-Life Scale (WHOQOL-BREF), visual analogue scale, and Camry dynamometer respectively two times, beforetreatment and after 10 treatment sessions. Results: Within-group analysis using MANOVA demonstrated a significant decline in VAS (p = 0.001) and a significant improvement in quality of life (p = 0.001) and hand grip strength (p = 0.001). Regarding between group comparison using MANOVA there was significant improvement in favor of the DN intervention (p = 0.001) for all measured variables. Conclusions: A 5-week dry needling approach with a traditional physiotherapy program was effective in improving in quality of life, pain intensity, and hand grip strength in patients with trigger finger, emphasizing it as the better option. The present study was conducted in the Laboratory of Tissue Culture, Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Damietta University, Egypt. The objective of this study was to establish a micropropagation protocol suitable for three imported peach rootstocks: Okinawa (P. persica), Nemared (P. persica × P. davidiana) × P. persica), and Garnem (P. dulcis × P. persica) in vitro. The results showed that soaking the explants in sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) at 20% for 15 min produced the highest responsiveness (82.81%), survival (96.61%), with the lowest mortality (3.14%) and contamination (0.24%). Explants of the Garnem genotype had the best response (89.12%), survival (90.62%), lowest mortality (0.00%), and highest contamination (9.37%) when compared to the other genotypes. In comparison with axillary buds, the shoot tip displayed the highest responsiveness, survival, and death (100, 87.40, and 12.59%, respectively), as well as the least significant contamination (0.00%). Additionally, the percentages of responsive, survived, dead, and contaminated explants at the various collection dates varied significantly. The 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) concentrations used (3 to 5.0 mg/L) demonstrated similar behavior in terms of in vitro proliferation, with rates of 3.77 to 6.11, 4.33 to 8.88, and 3.33 to 7.44 shoot numbers per explant for the Okinawa, Nemared, and Garnem peach rootstocks, respectively, indicating that the number of shoot proliferations is genotype-dependent. Additionally, using 5.0 mg/L BAP in combination with 0.2 mg/L IBA significantly increased average shoot proliferation (96.29%), number of shoots per explant (7.48), and average leaf number/explant (16.33) compared to the other treatments. Based on these results, adventitious bud development was enhanced during in vitro multiplication of the Okinawa, Nemared, and Garnem peach rootstocks by the synergistic interaction of indole-butyric acid (IBA) and 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP). Background: Today, low back pain is a serious global health issue. Currently, 85% of low back pain is caused by muscular imbalance and is a result of Lower cross syndrome (LCS), which are chronic postural defects. The physical therapy technique known as Global Postural Re-education (GPR) was created in France and is based on the concept that muscle chains make up the entire muscular system. Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of global postural re-education on low back pain patients with lower cross syndrome. Design: Prospective pre and post-test, single-blind randomized controlled trial. Setting: Outpatient physio therapy clinic at Damanhur teaching hospital. Population: Fifty participants (25 to 40 years old) suffer from low back pain with lower cross syndrome. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned to two equal groups: global posture re-education approach and conventional physiotherapy was given to study group "A" and conventional physiotherapy was given to control group "B" throughout the course of 15 treatment sessions, twice sessions weekly. The patients' pre- and post-treatment progress was assessed using the clinometer digital smartphone application to measure anterior pelvic tilting, flexible ruler to measure lumbar lordosis, Modified Thomas test to measure hip flexor flexibility, Visual analogue scale (VAS) to measure pain and Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire Arabic version to measure function disability. Results: Comparing the study group and the control group after treatment showed that the study group had a significantly lower anterior pelvic tilting (P = 0.001), lower lumbar lordosis (p = 0,024), higher flexibility of hip flexor muscle (p = 0,001), lower VAS (p = 0,001) and improving in function disability (p = 0,001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: Adding a Global postural re-education approach is thought to be effective in treating low back pain patients with lower cross syndrome. Reproductive toxicity is a major challenge associated with aluminum (Al) exposure. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of zinc oxide nanoparticle (ZnONP) treatment on Al-induced reproductive toxicity in rats. Thirty-two adult male albino rats were allocated into four equal groups as follows: control, AlCl3 orally administered group (100 mg/kg bwt), ZnONPs injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) group (4 mg/kg bwt), and ZnONPs + AlCl3–treated group. The treatment was daily extended for 42 consecutive days. Oral administration of AlCl3 showed an oxidative damage confirmed by an increase in malondialdehyde and nitric oxide levels and superoxide dismutase activity and accompanied by a decrease in glutathione content and catalase activity. Also, AlCl3 administration increased the pro-inflammatory mediator tumor necrosis factor-alpha. Furthermore, significant declines in the levels of serum male reproductive hormones testosterone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone in AlCl3-intoxicated rats were noticed. In parallel, severe histopathological alterations were observed in testis tissues. Additionally, the immunohistochemical analysis showed that AlCl3 administration potentiates cell death in the testicular tissue by elevating the immunostaining intensity signal for the pro-apoptotic protein, cysteinyl aspartate specific protease-3 (caspase-3) and a marked depletion in the cell proliferation expression marker, Ki-67, in germinal cells of AlCl3-treated group. On the other hand, the daily i.p. injection to rats with ZnONPs before AlCl3 was found to ameliorate the reproductive toxicity induced by Al administration through reducing the testicular oxidative stress and improving the inflammatory, apoptotic, and reproductive markers as well as histopathological alterations in the testis. These results suggest that ZnONPs could be used as an alternative agent to minimize the reproductive toxicity associated with Al exposure through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and reproductive modulatory activities. Background: Despite the increased interest in publishing data on central neurocytoma, its management remains controversial. The overall incidence is approximately 0.5% of brain tumors. The reporting of institutional experience is of major need for such category of tumors to increase our knowledge and experience. In this study, we describe the clinical presentation, pathological data, and treatment outcomes of central neurocytoma. Results: Medical records of patients with neurocytoma treated in our center from July 2008 to December 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Extra ventricular neurocytomas were excluded from analysis due to the known aggressive behavior compared to central neurocytoma. Seventeen patients treated at our center as central neurocytoma were included in the study. The frequent clinical presentation was headaches (58.8%) and paresis (35.3%). Ten patients (58.8%) developed symptoms before the age of 30 years. All patients were treated with surgical resection. Gross total resection was performed in 11 cases (64.7%) and subtotal resection was performed in 3 cases (17.7%). Four patients developed disease progression following the first excision (23.5%), for which additional resection was performed. Two patients received fractionated radiotherapy; one after the first resection due to residual disease postoperatively and the other patient following the third excision due to multiple recurrences with radiotherapy doses of 50.4 Gy and 54 Gy, respectively. The median follow-up time was 51 months (range of 14–106). The 5-year progression-free survival was 70 ± 13%. The overall survival for our cohort of patients was 100%. Conclusions: Central neurocytoma is a rare tumor of neuronal origin and surgery is the mainstay of treatment with a favorable prognosis. Therapeutic inhibition of the immunosuppressive IDO1–TDO pathway in tumors is achieved in vivo with an enzyme. Increased tryptophan (Trp) catabolism in the tumor microenvironment (TME) can mediate immune suppression by upregulation of interferon (IFN)-γ-inducible indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO1) and/or ectopic expression of the predominantly liver-restricted enzyme tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO)1,2,3,4,5. Whether these effects are due to Trp depletion in the TME or mediated by the accumulation of the IDO1 and/or TDO (hereafter referred to as IDO1/TDO) product kynurenine (Kyn) remains controversial5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13. Here we show that administration of a pharmacologically optimized enzyme (PEGylated kynureninase; hereafter referred to as PEG-KYNase) that degrades Kyn into immunologically inert, nontoxic and readily cleared metabolites inhibits tumor growth. Enzyme treatment was associated with a marked increase in the tumor infiltration and proliferation of polyfunctional CD8+ lymphocytes. We show that PEG-KYNase administration had substantial therapeutic effects when combined with approved checkpoint inhibitors or with a cancer vaccine for the treatment of large B16-F10 melanoma, 4T1 breast carcinoma or CT26 colon carcinoma tumors. Paracetamol is a commonly used over-the-counter analgesic and antipyretic drug. Nevertheless, an overdose of paracetamol leads to hepatic necrosis that can be lethal. This study aimed to assess the potential hepatoprotective effects of dibenzazepine, a Notch inhibitor, against acute liver injury in rats via interfering with oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, autophagy, and Notch signaling. Silymarin (200 mg/kg, p.o.) or dibenzazepine (2 mg/kg, i.p.) were administered to rats for 5 days before a single hepatotoxic dose of paracetamol (800 mg/kg, i.p.). Pretreatment with silymarin and dibenzazepine significantly mitigated oxidative stress, inflammatory and apoptotic markers induced by paracetamol hepatotoxicity where dibenzazepine showed greater repression of inflammation. Furthermore, dibenzazepine was found to be significantly more efficacious than silymarin in inhibiting Notch signaling as represented by expression of Notch-1 and Hes-1. A significantly greater response was also demonstrated with dibenzazepine pretreatment with regard to the expression of autophagic proteins, Beclin-1 and LC-3. The aforementioned biochemical results were confirmed by histopathological examination. Autophagy and Notch signaling seem to play a significant role in protection provided by dibenzazepine for paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in rats, which could explain its superior results relative to silymarin. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a low-grade inflammation state that results from an interplay between genetic and environmental factors. The incidence of MetS among individuals with insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, elevated blood pressure, and obesity, which constitute the syndrome, is 40% in the Middle East. The absence of an approved therapeutic agent for MetS is one reason to investigate tocilizumab (TCZ), which might be effective in the treatment of MetS. Results have implicated interleukin 6 (IL-6) in the development of MetS, identifying inflammation as a critical factor in its etiology and offering hope for new therapeutic approaches development. Here, we evaluate whether tocilizumab can be used for metabolic syndrome treatment. We assigned rats to three groups, 8 rats each: a negative-control group, provided with standard rodent chow and water; a fructose-fed group, provided with standard rodent chow and 10% fructose in drinking water for 22 weeks; and a treatment group, fed as per the metabolic syndrome group but treated with tocilizumab (5 mg/kg/week, intraperitoneal) for the final 5 weeks. Treatment with TCZ successfully ameliorated the damaging effects of fructose by stabilizing body weight gain and through the normalization of serum biochemical parameters and histopathological examination. Significant differences in adipokine levels were perceived, resulting in a significant decline in serum leptin and interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels concurrent with adiponectin normalization. Tocilizumab might be an effective agent for the treatment of metabolic syndrome. Ischemic stroke is a major cause of death and motor disabilities all over the world. It is a muti-factorial disorder associated with inflammatory, apoptotic, and oxidative responses. Nateglinide (NAT), an insulinotropic agent used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, recently showed potential anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects. The aim of our study was to elucidate the unique neuroprotective role of NAT in the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)-induced stroke in rats. Fifty-six male rats were divided to 4 groups (n = 14 in each group): the sham-operated group, sham receiving NAT (50 mg/kg/day, p.o) group, ischemia/reperfusion (IR) group, and IR receiving NAT group (50 mg/kg/day, p.o). MCAO caused potent deficits in motor and behavioral functions of the rats. Significant increase in inflammatory and apoptotic biomarkers has been observed in rats' hippocampi. Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway was significantly stimulated causing activation of series inflammatory biomarkers ending up neuro-inflammatory milieu. Pretreatment with NAT preserved rats' normal behavioral and motor functions. Moreover, NAT opposed the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) resulting in downregulation of more inflammatory mediators namely, NF-κB, tumor necrosis factor-β (TNF-β), and the anti-survival gene PMAIP-1. NAT stimulated caveolin-1 (Cav-1) which prevented expression of oxidative biomarkers, nitric oxide (NO), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) and hamper the activation of apoptotic biomarker caspase-3. In conclusion, our work postulated that NAT exhibited its neuroprotective effects in rats with ischemic stroke via attenuation of different unique oxidative, apoptotic, and inflammatory pathways. Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is a widely used organophosphate insecticide with several harmful effects. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) represents an ideal antixenobiotic; it can directly enter endogenous biochemical processes and is used as adjunctive treatment for psychiatric disorders. We aimed to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of NAC as an antioxidant drug against CPF-induced neurotoxicity in adult male albino rat brains. Twenty-eight male Wister rats were allocated into four groups (n = 7) and were administered the following for 28 days: group I (control group), physiological saline (0.9% NaCl); group II (CPF group), 10 mg/kg body weight (BW) CPF; group III (NAC group), 100 mg/kg BW NAC; and group VI (CPF+NAC group), NAC 1 h before CPF. CPF intoxication resulted in acetylcholinesterase inhibition, reduced glutathione content, and elevated levels of malondialdehyde and nitric oxide, which are oxidative stress biomarkers. CPF also depleted the activity of antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase and catalase, and levels of inflammatory mediators, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-1β. Levels of vascular endothelial growth factor, Bax, and the proapoptotic caspases-3 also increased, while brain-derived neurotrophic factor level decreased. Additionally, CPF significantly diminished Bcl-2 (an antiapoptotic protein) in rat brain cortical tissue. NAC treatment was found to protect brain tissue by reversing the CPF-induced neurotoxicity. JNJ7777120, a histamine H4 receptor antagonist, was shown to be effective in different experimental settings of allergic inflammation, including contact hypersensitivity. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are thought to function as a link between innate and adaptive immune responses to various haptens. Here, we studied the suppression of TLR signaling as a possible mechanism by which JNJ7777120 exerts its anti-inflammatory effects against the chemical hapten, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC). The potential anti-oxidant effect of JNJ7777120 in this model was also examined. Mice subjected to FITC sensitization and challenge showed significantly elevated plasma immunoglobulin E (IgE) level, ear interleukin-4 (IL-4), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) contents as well as increased myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) gene expression, nuclear factor-kappa B p65 (NF-κB p65), and phospho-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p-p38 MAPK) protein expression. This was accompanied by enhanced ear myeloperoxidase (MPO) and eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) activities as well as diminished glutathione (GSH) content and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity. JNJ7777120 treatment perceivably reversed these effects, denoting profound anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant character of JNJ7777120 which was confirmed by its mitigation of FITC-induced pathological changes in mouse ear. JNJ7777120 additionally enhanced the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), providing a novel mechanism by which JNJ7777120 functions as an anti-oxidant in this model. Objectives Multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) were compared regarding their ability to detect vertical root fractures. Methods Sixty four extracted posterior teeth were included in this study. Using a diamond disc, thirty six teeth were cut vertically to simulate a VRF. Twenty eight teeth were used as control. Fractured and non-fractured teeth were randomly positioned in 4 skulls and mandibles. Scanning was performed first on a 16 slice Siemens MDCT, then by i-CAT Next Generation CBCT. Two observers assessed the multiplanar images for vertical root fractures using a 3-point scale. The first observer repeated the assessment after 1 week. Later, the 2 observers re-assessed the images together to reach a consensus score. Results CBCT showed higher sensitivity, accuracy as well as negative predictive value compared to MDCT. The mean area under the curve was 0.917 for MDCT and 0.972 for CBCT. The difference in diagnostic accuracy between the 2 modalities was statistically significant P  = .036. Inter-observer agreement was 0.971 for MDCT and 0.994 for CBCT, whereas intra-observer agreement was 0.981 for MDCT and 0.985 for CBCT. Conclusion Using the specified scanners at the specified exposure parameters, the diagnostic accuracy of CBCT in detecting vertical root fractures was significantly higher than MDCT. The structure modulation of follicular cells and the ovarian changes during fourth larval instar and pupal stage of the malaria vector mosquitoes Anopheles pharoensis Theobald were investigated using the light and electron microscopy. The generative organs consist of a pair of polytrophic ovaries (OV), which are oblong, spindle-shaped bodies, lying dorsolaterally and occupying the region from the mid-fifth to the mid-sixth abdominal segment in the fourth larval instar, while in the pupal stage, each ovary (OV) is situated in the haemocoel of the sixth abdominal segment. It is an oblong body slightly larger in diameter; the lumen of the calyx becomes wider and central, and the pedicel (P) consists of one row of compact discoidal cells; meanwhile, in the fourth larval instar, the pedicel is without a lumen and consists of two rows of discoidal cells which are arranged as a short column between the follicle and calyx. The mean volume of the follicle in the fourth larval instar is 9.078 ± 3.0178 μm, meanwhile in the pupal stage being 12.051 ± 2.427 μm. The germarium (G) decreases in size in the pupal stage and contains a group of cells from which the oogonia differentiate, follicular cells which are similar to trophocytes, undifferentiated into one oocyte (O), which will develop into an egg and it is statistically the smallest one measured (0.058 ± 0.0041 μm, 0.303 ± 0.0086 μm) in fourth larval instar and pupal stage, respectively as compared to the others within the follicle which will be accompanied as nurse cells (NC). The follicle is enclosed by a mononuclear flattened cells (follicular membrane), which have distinct boundaries. The vitellarium is differentiated into primary (F1) and secondary follicles (F2) in the pupal stage. The Golgi apparatus (GA) appears as discrete bits which are restricted to the perinuclear zone. The mitochondria (M) in the fourth larval instar are in the form of granules and short rods. They are perinuclearly distributed, forming a ring that surrounds the comparatively large nucleus. Bladder cancer is the sixth most common cancer in humans. This heterogeneous set of lesions including urothelial carcinoma (Uca) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) arise from the urothelium, a stratified epithelium composed of K5-expressing basal cells, intermediate cells and umbrella cells. Superficial Uca lesions are morphologically distinct and exhibit different clinical behaviours: carcinoma in situ (CIS) is a flat aggressive lesion, whereas papillary carcinomas are generally low-grade and non-invasive. Whether these distinct characteristics reflect different cell types of origin is unknown. Here we show using lineage tracing in a murine model of carcinogenesis that intermediate cells give rise primarily to papillary lesions, whereas K5-basal cells are likely progenitors of CIS, muscle-invasive lesions and SCC depending on the genetic background. Our results provide a cellular and genetic basis for the diversity in bladder cancer lesions and provide a possible explanation for their clinical and morphological differences. Background: Parkinsonian patients exhibited marked deficits in maintaining equilibrium during transitions between static and dynamic equilibrium. Walking can be initiated from many positions including the seated position and the sit- towalk is a functional task of daily living activities. Objective: to evaluate the effect of visual cues on parkinsonian gait, and compare it with un-cued gait training. Methods: Twenty eight male Parkinson's patients with level II and III according to modified Hoehn and Yahr classification of disabilities were randomly participated, with duration of illness ranged from 2 to 5 years, and age ranged from 60 to 66 years old. Patients were randomly divided into two equal groups of 14; group I as study group received visual cues gait training and group II as control group received un-cued gait training. Both groups, received designed program of physical therapy for Parkinsonism, 3 times per week for successive 6 weeks. Spatiotemporal gait parameters and lower limb range of motion were evaluated for all patients pre and post treatment during sit to walk movements. Results: our results revealed that group I that received visual cues gait training showed highly significant improvement of spatiotemporal gait parameters, and lower limb range of motion than group II that received un-cued gait training. Conclusion: the study was concluded that visual cues during sit to walk movement are more effective in promoting parkinsonian gait than un-cued gait training. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus is the main vector of lymphatic filariasis in tropics and subtropics, the identification and quantification of this mosquito is an important task. Scanning electron microscopy reveals that morphological changes during larval development as the number of comb scale varies greatly and their complexity increases from first to the fourth instar. Also, their structures are more complex with a varying number of subapical denticles. The amount of pecten shows modifications at different larval instars with regard to the number and complexity of their spines. The pecten teeth increase in their number and complexity during development. The number of lateral palatal brush filaments increases during larval development from the first to the fourth instar. The ventral brush of the abdominal segment X in the first and second instars is composed of two respectively three pairs of setae while the third and fourth instars have four pairs of sturdy setae. The formation and uptake of the yolk protein in the oocyte of the Asian Tiger, Aedes albopictus mosquito was investigated. Light and electron microscopy of the ovaries at early resting stage as well as the structural changes associated with yolk formation were described 16 h after blood meal. The deposition of the yolk protein in the oocyte was correlated with a 15-fold increase in 138-μm pit-like depressions on the oocyte surface. These pits result by invagination of the oocyte cell membrane. They have a 20-μm bristle coat on their convex cytoplasmic side and a layer of protein on their concave extraoocyte space. The pits, by pinching off from the cell membrane become bristle coat vesicles which carry the adsorbed protein into the oocyte. These vesicles lose the coat and then fuse to form small crystalline yolk droplets, which subsequently coalesce to form the large protein yolk bodies of the mature oocyte. Preliminary radioautographs and certain morphological features of the fat body, ovary, and midgut, suggest that the midgut is the principal site of the yolk protein synthesis in A. albopictus. A new series of 1,4-benzodiazepine-2,5-dione structurally related to cyclopenin has been synthesized. The new compounds were assayed in vivo and in vitro for their ability to inhibit acetylcholinesterase enzyme and were found to have potent reversible anticholinesterase activity when tested in vitro for isolated frog rectus abdominis and guinea pig ileum in addition to increasing brain cholinesterase level in rats when percentage inhibition were tested in vivo, moreover compounds 5a, 5b, 5c and 5g were the most active. This paper introduces a new color image superresolution algorithm in an adaptive, robust M-estimation framework. Using a robust error norm in the objective function, and adapting the estimation process to each of the low-resolution frames, the proposed method effectively suppresses the outliers due to violations of the assumed observation model, and results in color superresolution estimates with crisp details and no color artifacts, without the use of regularization. Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a relatively uncommon disease in which spontaneous remission is exceedingly rare. We are reporting three cases of primary CNS lymphoma with spontaneous regression in two to eight weeks, from the time of the initial diagnosis. The remission lasted for four years in the first case, two years in the second, and one year in the third case. Tissue diagnosis was made in the first two cases after relapse, and in the third case a biopsy was done at the initial presentation. The authors present a case of a very unusual clinical presentation of an intra-axial supratentorial glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in a 63 year old diabetic female patient presenting with a three week history of left progressive complete oculomotor nerve palsy. CT scan and magnetic resonance imaging of the head revealed a left intra-axial mesial temporal glioblastoma multiforme. Operative resection and microscopic examination of a tissue specimen confirmed the diagnosis. The nature of the tumor, the pattern of spread and the postulated mechanisms of such a presentation are discussed. The authors suggest including the diagnosis of GBM in the differential diagnosis of patients with isolated complete oculomotor nerve palsy at the appropriate age group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
