A dynamic three-dimensional finite element analysis model for the stability of the reaction wall of a working well during pipe jacking is established on the basis of the rectangular pipe jacking project of No. 2 Shangdu Road Station on line 4 of the Zhengzhou rail transit system. A comparison of the simulation data with field monitoring data verifies the correctness of the model. Using the model, the effects of the elastic modulus of soil, thickness of solid, and depth of solid on the horizontal displacement of soil behind the reaction wall are analyzed. The results show that the elastic modulus of soil strongly affects the lateral displacement of the soil whereas the solid depth and thickness have a slight effect. The results of the study provide a theoretical basis for the structural design of a large rectangular-pipe jacking starter well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
