Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) exhibits different blood imaging features and prognosis depending on histology. To clarity histopathological growth patterns (HGPs) and vascularization processes of iCCA, we collected 145 surgical specimens and histologically classified them into large bile duct (LBD) (20 cases), small bile duct (SBD) (54), cholangiolocarcinoma (CLC) (35), combined SBD–CLC (cSBD–CLC) (26), and ductal plate malformation (DPM) (10) (sub)types. According to the invasive pattern at the interface between tumor and adjacent background liver, HGPs were classified into desmoplastic, pushing, and replacing HGPs. Desmoplastic HGP predominated in LBD type (55.5%), while replacing HGP was common in CLC (82.9%) and cSBD–CLC (84.6%) subtypes. Desmoplastic HGP reflected angiogenesis, while replacing HGP showed vessel co-option in addition to angiogenesis. By evaluating microvessel density (MVD) using vascular markers, ELTD1 identified vessel co-option and angiogenesis, and ELTD1-positive MVD at invasive margin in replacing HGP was significantly higher than those in desmoplastic and pushing HGPs. REDD1, an angiogenesis-related marker, demonstrated preferably higher MVD in the tumor center than in other areas. iCCA (sub)types and HGPs were closely related to vessel co-option and immune-related factors (lymphatic vessels, lymphocytes, and neutrophils). Hepatobiliary mucoepidermoid carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor comprising mucous, intermediate, and epidermoid cells. Herein, we presented a case of primary liver mucoepidermoid carcinoma preoperatively misdiagnosed as conventional intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. A 67-year-old male was admitted to our hospital. Preoperative laboratory tests showed increased aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, and carbohydrate antigen 19–9. Abdominal Computer Tomography revealed a 4.8 × 4.9 cm liver mass in segment VI. A preliminary diagnosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma was made, with undergoing partial hepatectomy. However, on histopathology, the tumor comprised a mixture of epidermoid, mucous, and intermediate cells with diffuse infiltrating at the tumor margin. On special stains, mucous and intermedia cells were positive for mucicarmine and Alcian blue, whereas epidermoid cells were positive for Keratin 5/6 and p63. Intermediate cells are also positive for p63. All tumor cells were positive for Keratin 7. The Ki-67 index was 35%. The final diagnosis was primary hepatic mucoepidermoid carcinoma. Although rare, hepatic mucoepidermoid carcinoma should be considered in the intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma differential diagnosis. Background: We hypothesized that high-resolution activation mapping during sinus rhythm (SR) in Koch's triangle (KT) can be used to describe the most delayed atrial potential around the atrioventricular node and evaluated whether ablation targeting of this potential is safe and effective for the treatment of patients with typical atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT). Methods: We conducted a prospective, non-randomized, observational study using high-resolution activation mapping from the sinus node to KT with a PENTARAY or OCTARAY catheter using the CARTO 3 cardiac mapping system (Biosense Webster) during SR in 62 consecutive patients (22 men; age [mean ± standard deviation] = 55 ± 14 years) treated for typical AVNRT at our institution from August 2021 to March 2023. Results: In all cases, the most delayed atrial potential was observed near the His potential within KT. Ablation targeting of this potential helped successfully treat each case of AVNRT, with a junctional rhythm observed at the ablation site. Initial ablation was deemed successful in 55/62 patients (89%); in the remaining seven patients, lesion expansion resolved AVNRT. One procedural complication occurred, namely, a transient atrioventricular block lasting 45 s. One patient experienced a transient tachycardic episode by the 1-month follow-up, but no further episodes were noted up to the 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: Activation mapping at KT during SR with the high-resolution CARTO system clearly revealed the most delayed atrial potential near the His potential within KT. Background: The superior transseptal approach (STA) for mitral valve surgery is associated with a higher risk of developing macroreentrant incisional atrial flutter (AFL) than the left atrial approach. This study aimed to describe the linear lesions for the complex AFL circuit after the STA and to propose an option for the linear ablation target site. Methods: Of the 26 patients who underwent radiofrequency catheter ablation for AFL after mitral valve surgery, data from seven patients with STA incisions were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All patients who had undergone the STA had incisional AFL rotated in a long loop within the right atrium (RA) and cavo-tricuspid isthmus (CTI)-dependent AFL. The linear lesions were created in the CTI, the superior RA vestibule, and between the RA-free wall incision or the septal incision and the inferior vena cava. Procedural success was achieved with dual linear lesions in the CTI and superior RA vestibule. Two of seven patients had AFL recurrence during a mean observation period of 22.5 ± 16.7 months. The circuits of recurrent AFL were CTI-dependent AFL and perimitral AFL, respectively. No AFL recurrence was noted with reconduction of the superior RA vestibular lesion. The occurrence of cisplatin (CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity (CIN) has decreased with advancements in supportive care. In contrast, we reported that baseline diabetes mellitus (DM) complications significantly worsen CIN. This study aimed to determine further risk factors associated with CIN development in DM patients. Patients with thoracic cancer requiring DM pharmacotherapy, who received CDDP (≥ 60 mg/m2)-containing regimens using the short hydration method (n = 140), were enrolled in this retrospective multicenter observational study. The primary endpoint of the present study was the elucidation of risk factors (patient factors, DM medication influence, and treatment-related factors) associated with CIN development in patients with DM. Cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity occurred in 22.1% of patients with DM. The median worst variation of serum creatinine levels and creatinine clearance (worst level − baseline level) was 0.16 mg/dL (range: − 0.12–1.41 mg/dL) and − 15.9 mL/min (− 85.5–24.3 mL/min), respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analyses identified female sex as the singular risk factor for CIN development in the DM population (adjusted odds ratio; 2.87, 95% confidence interval; 1.08–7.67, P = 0.04). Diabetes mellitus medication and treatment-related factors did not affect CIN development. Treatment using docetaxel (DOC) and ramucirumab (RAM) is an effective regimen in second or later line advanced non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) treatment. However, it induces severe adverse effects, resulting in treatment reduction such as dose reduction and/or discontinuation. This study aimed to reveal the factor(s) associated with treatment reduction in DOC + RAM. We retrospectively evaluated patients with advanced NSCLC (n = 155). Treatment reduction of the second course due to severe adverse effects was conducted in 25.8% of the participants, and relative dose intensity at the second course was 95.7 ± 8.4% for DOC and 91.9 ± 24.8% for RAM. Multivariate logistic regression analyses identified that baseline anemia and prophylactic granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) administration are preventive factors for the reduction (adjusted odds ratio, 0.29; 95% confidence interval, 0.12–0.66; P = 0.004 for baseline anemia, 0.18; 0.08–0.42; P < 0.0001 for prophylactic G-CSF administration). The primary cause of the reduction was febrile neutropenia, and the same factors were identified. The shaking table test, which is generally conducted using reduced-scale frames to investigate the collapse behavior of structures during underground motion, is an effective method in the seismic engineering field. However, unlike the shaking table test with full-scale frames, those with reduced-scale frames possess several problems owing to the scaling effect. This paper proposes a novel experimental method for performing the shaking table test with reduced-scale frames to overcome these problems; this method is known as the "inverted shaking table." Through a series of experiments using this method and two earthquake records as inputs without modifying the time axis, the elastoplastic behaviors of reduced-scale steel frames are obtained up to their collapse owing to the P-Δ effect. Additionally, the changes in the collapse process are studied by changing the vertical load on the test specimens. The test results obtained in this study are validated using the response analysis of a single degree-of-freedom system, which reveals that the hysteresis and acceleration multiplier of the input wave obtained using the response analysis and test for each specimen are approximately the same. This indicates that the proposed method is effective for reproducing the frame behavior up to collapse for specimens with portable components and using general experimental apparatus. Background: The clinical utility of plasma cell-free DNA in precision cancer medicine has not been established. A pilot study was conducted to investigate the clinical utility of comprehensive genomic profiling by liquid biopsy in a Japanese population. Methods: In this PROFILE study, 102 patients with advanced solid tumors who showed progression with standard systemic therapy underwent liquid biopsy between August 2017 and February 2020. Liquid biopsy was performed using Guardant360. Results: Of the 102 patients, 56 were women, and the median age was 65 years. Regarding the types of cancer, 31 were hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer, 17 were gastrointestinal cancer, and 13 were breast cancer. Frequently altered genes were TP53 (53.9%, 46/102), KRAS (25.5%, 26/102), PIK3CA (19.6%, 20/102), and EGFR (17.6%, 18/102). At least one genetic aberration was detected in 92 patients (90.2%). Actionable mutation was discovered in 88 patients (86.3%), and 67 patients (65.7%) were clinical trial candidates. Of the 102 patients, 22 (21.6%) were able to receive biomarker-matched therapy. Their best responses were as follows: 1 complete response, 3 partial responses, 7 stable diseases, and 11 progressive diseases. Additionally, the treated patients were divided on the basis of matching scores (≥ 50% vs. < 50%). The patients were divided into high and low groups. The high group had a higher disease control rate (DCR) of 75% compared with 20% in the low group (P = 0.010). This letter, published in the journal Clinical & Experimental Nephrology, discusses the case of a 60-year-old man who underwent bilateral nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The authors measured the levels of erythropoietin (EPO) before and after the surgery to examine the impact of nephrectomy on EPO production. They found that EPO levels declined sharply after the surgery and gradually increased over time, but were not sufficient to correct the patient's anemia. The authors discuss the potential use of erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESA) and hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors (HIF-PHI) to address anemia in patients who have undergone nephrectomy. Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding worsens the outcomes of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Owing to a lack of corresponding data, we aimed to investigate whether GI bleeding during cardiovascular-ICU (C-ICU) admission in acute cardiovascular (CV) disease patients is a risk factor for subsequent CV events. Totally, 492 consecutive C-ICU patients (40.9% acute coronary syndrome, 22.8% heart failure) were grouped into GI bleeding (n = 27; 12 upper GI and 15 lower GI) and non-GI bleeding (n = 465) groups. Thirty-nine patients died or developed CV events during hospitalization, and 453 were followed up from the date of C-ICU discharge to evaluate subsequent major adverse CV events. The GI bleeding group had a higher Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score (20.2 ± 8.2 vs. 15.1 ± 6.8, p < 0.001), higher frequency of mechanical ventilator use (29.6% vs. 13.1%, p = 0.039), and longer C-ICU admission duration (8 [5–16] days vs. 5 [3–8] days, p < 0.001) than the non-GI bleeding group. The in-hospital mortality rate did not differ between the groups. Of those who were followed-up, CV events after C-ICU discharge were identified in 34.6% and 14.3% of patients in the GI and non-GI bleeding groups, respectively, during a median follow-up period of 228 days (log rank, p < 0.001). GI bleeding was an independent risk factor for subsequent CV events (adjusted hazard ratio: 2.23, 95% confidence interval: 1.06–4.71; p = 0.035). Objective: Current strategies for the treatment of endometrial cancer in older adult patients require re-evaluation given the global trend in population aging, especially in Japan. We sought to evaluate initial treatment offered to older adult patients with endometrial cancer in Japan.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data on the standard treatment by age group in patients with endometrial cancer who underwent surgery between January 2005 and December 2013 at the National Cancer Center Hospital (Tokyo, Japan). Patients were stratified into four groups according to age: a younger group, aged 64 years or younger; older adult group 1, aged 65-69 years; older adult group 2, aged 70-74 years; and older adult group 3, aged ≥75 years.Results: Among 551 patients with endometrial cancer diagnosed and treated at our hospital, data from 531 eligible patients were analyzed. The proportion of patients in the older adult groups 1 or 2 who received standard treatment was the same as in the younger group. However, significantly fewer patients in older adult group 3 received standard treatment compared with the younger group (26% vs. 71%, p = 0.0001). Furthermore, the proportion of patients in older adult group 3 who underwent standard surgery was significantly lower than that in the younger group (26% vs. 72%, p = 0.0001).Conclusions: The results indicate that age 75 years and older might represent a cutoff for the development of age-based treatment strategies for endometrial cancer. In this paper, we introduce a new concept of digital signature that we call fuzzy signature, which is a signature scheme that uses a noisy string such as biometric data as a private key, but does not require user-specific auxiliary data (which is also called a helper string in the context of fuzzy extractors), for generating a signature. Our technical contributions are threefold: (1) we first give the formal definition of fuzzy signature, together with a formal definition of a "setting" that specifies some necessary information for fuzzy data. (2) We give a generic construction of a fuzzy signature scheme based on a signature scheme that has certain homomorphic properties regarding keys and satisfies a kind of related key attack security with respect to addition, and a new tool that we call linear sketch. (3) We specify two concrete settings for fuzzy data, and for each of the settings give a concrete instantiation of these building blocks for our generic construction, leading to two concrete fuzzy signature schemes. We also discuss how fuzzy signature schemes can be used to realize a biometric-based PKI that uses biometric data itself as a cryptographic key, which we call the public biometric infrastructure. A persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a congenital venous abnormality and is usually asymptomatic and does not cause hemodynamic disturbances. Therefore, it is difficult to identify it by routine examinations in clinical practice. This study aimed to elucidate the electrocardiographic characteristics for the prediction of a PLSVC. Twelve patients (9 males, 56.2 ± 18.3 years) who were diagnosed with a PLSVC were enrolled. The electrocardiographic parameters, including the P-wave duration, axis, and morphology of the P waves, were automatically measured and compared to 150 controls (77 males, 57.3 ± 14.6 years). There were no significant differences in the P-wave duration. Negative or positive/negative P waves in lead III predicted a PLSVC with a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 81%. The P-wave axis in PLSVC exhibited a significant leftward deviation as compared to the controls (14.8 ± 21.1 vs. 54.0 ± 17.4°, p < 0.001). A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of the P-wave axis for predicting a PLSVC exhibited an area under curve of 0.93 [CI 95% (0.87–0.98), p < 0.001), and identified a P-wave axis of less than 37.5° to have a 92% sensitivity and 83% specificity in predicting a PLSVC. Atrial fibrillation (AF) itself creates structural and electrophysiological changes such as atrial enlargement, shortening of refractory period and decrease in conduction velocity, called 'atrial remodeling', promoting its persistence. Although the remodeling process is considered to be reversible, it has not been elucidated in detail. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of P wave dispersion in the assessment of reverse atrial remodeling following catheter ablation of AF. Consecutive 126 patients (88 males, age 63.0 ± 10.4 years) who underwent catheter ablation for paroxysmal AF were investigated. P wave dispersion was calculated from the 12 lead ECG before, 1 day, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after the procedure. Left atrial diameter (LAD), left atrial volume index (LAVI), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), transmitral flow velocity waveform ( E/ A), and tissue Doppler ( E/ e′) on echocardiography, plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations, serum creatinine, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were also measured. Of all patients, 103 subjects remained free of AF for 1 year follow-up. In these patients, P wave dispersion was not changed 1 day and 1 month after the procedure. However, it was significantly decreased at 3 and 6 months (50.1 ± 14.8 to 45.4 ± 14.4 ms, p < 0.05, 45.2 ± 9.9 ms, p < 0.05, respectively). Plasma BNP concentrations, LAD and LAVI were decreased (81.1 ± 103.8 to 44.8 ± 38.3 pg/mL, p < 0.05, 38.2 ± 5.7 to 35.9 ± 5.6 mm, p < 0.05, 33.3 ± 14.2 to 29.3 ± 12.3 mL/m, p < 0.05) at 6 months after the procedure. There were no significant changes in LVEF, E/ A, E/ e′, serum creatinine, and eGFR during the follow up period. P wave dispersion was decreased at 3 and 6 months after catheter ablation in patients without recurrence of AF. Purpose: Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is still challenging, and it is unclear whether the difficulty is caused by the hypertrophy of left atrial (LA) myocardial wall thickness. The objective of the study was to compare the LA wall thickness and AF ablation outcomes between patients with HCM and those without structural heart disease. Methods: The present study enrolled 17 consecutive HCM patients (63 ± 12 years) with drug-refractory AF and 34 control patients without any detectable heart disease, whose age, gender, type of AF, and LA dimension were matched to the HCM patients. The myocardial wall thickness of 11 distinct LA locations, measured using 64-slice computed tomography images, and AF ablation outcomes were compared between the two groups. Results: The LA wall thickness did not differ at 9 of the 11 locations and was significantly thinner in the HCM patients than in the control patients at the mid-posterior wall (1.44 ± 0.17 vs. 1.58 ± 0.22, p = 0.04) and infero-posterior wall (1.62 ± 0.16 vs. 1.74 ± 0.18, p = 0.03). Although antiarrhythmic drugs were used more frequently in the HCM patients ( p = 0.008), the rate of maintaining sinus rhythm during the follow-up did not differ between the HCM and control patients (53 vs. 56 % after the initial ablation [log-rank p = 0.78] and 82 and 88 % after the repeat procedure [log-rank p = 0.35]). Conclusions: The LA wall in the HCM patients with AF was not thicker than that of the matched patients without structural heart disease. Immunohistochemistry for several neurochemical substances, the transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1) and 2 (TRPV2), P2X3 receptor, and parvalbumin (PV), was performed on the nodose ganglion, pharynx, and epiglottis in human cadavers. The nodose ganglion was situated beneath the jugular foramen, and had a spindle shape with the long rostrocaudal axis. The pharyngeal branch (PB) issued from a rostral quarter of the nodose ganglion, whereas the superior laryngeal nerve (SLN) usually originated from a caudal half of the ganglion. In the nodose ganglion, sensory neurons were mostly immunoreactive for TRPV1 (89 %) or P2X3 (93.9 %). About 30 % of nodose neurons contained TRPV2 (35.7 %)-or PV (29.9 %)-immunoreactivity (-IR). These neurons mainly had small to medium-sized cell bodies, and were distributed throughout the ganglion. Neurodegenerative profiles such as shrinkage or pyknosis could not be detected in the examined ganglion. Occasionally, TRPV2-IR nerve fibers surrounded blood vessels in the epiglottis as well as in the nasal and oral parts of the pharynx. Isolated TRPV2-IR nerve fibers were also located beneath the epithelium. TRPV1-, P2X3-, or PV-IR nerve endings could not be detected in the pharynx or epiglottis. In the PB and SLN, however, numerous nerve fibers contained TRPV1-, TRPV2-, P2X3-, and PV-IR. The present study suggests that TRPV1-, TRPV2-, P2X3-, and PV-IR neurons in the human nodose ganglion innervate the pharynx and epiglottis through the PB and SLN. Small cell glioblastoma is a histological subtype of glioblastoma with characteristic features of highly proliferative, monotonous small glial cells with high nuclear cytoplasm ratio. Morphologically, malignant lymphoma or small cell metastatic carcinoma should be carefully discriminated. Some cases are difficult to differentiate from anaplastic oligodendroglioma. In this report, we present a case of small cell glioblastoma of an elderly man. The lack of IDH1/2 mutation was confirmed by immunohistochemistry and direct sequencing. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed the lower rates of chromosome 1p and 19q deletion. Microsatellite analysis disclosed partial 10q alteration near the PTEN locus. Not only morphological and immunohistochemical examinations, but also cytogenetical investigations for IDH1/2 mutation, 1p/19q loss, and PTEN alteration, are strongly supportive methods for the differential diagnosis of small cell glioblastoma and anaplastic oligodendroglioma. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is latent in the majority of adult humans. The reactivation of CMV causes pneumonia and gastrointestinal disease in severely immunosuppressed patients, who consequently suffer very high mortality due to CMV central nervous system disease. We report here a case involving a 28-year-old female patient with mycosis fungoides who underwent umbilical cord blood transplantation three times and developed CMV ventriculoencephalitis. The patient's CMV viremia was successfully preempted with ganciclovir (GCV) as indicated by undetectable CMV antigenemia; despite this successful treatment, the patient developed CMV ventriculoencephalitis. Foscarnet (FCV) therapy led to a temporary recovery, after which CMV ventriculoencephalitis recurred, and the patient died after receiving combination GCV and FCV therapy. Autopsy samples revealed CMV ventriculoencephalitis, as indicated by numerous inclusion-bearing cells (Owl's eye). It is likely that this patient harbored a GCV-resistant CMV strain; however, it was not possible to obtain nucleic acids suitable for use in assessing this possibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a malignant tumor that mostly occurs in early childhood and has poor prognosis despite aggressive therapy. Adult cases are rare and, as far as we are aware, only 30 cases have been reported to date. Here we present the case of a 27-year-old female with left parietal AT/RT with the chief complaint of numbness of the right superior limb. First, the tumor was surgically removed and the diagnosis was grade II glioma. With additional radiotherapy, the clinical course after surgery was favorable. After 6 years, she had an operation for recurrence and the diagnosis was grade III glioma. Temozolomide was prescribed, and a disease-free period of 2 years followed. Surgery was performed for a third time for second recurrence with histology of diffuse growth of rhabdoid cells. Immunohistochemistry was partially positive for vimentin and epithelial membrane antigen. Ki-67 labeling index was extremely high and tumor cells showed no staining of INI1 suggestive of diagnosis of AT/RT. We re-evaluated past specimens and none had immunoreactivity of INI1. Ki-67 labeling index and O-6 methylguanine DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) staining were also re-examined and both increased gradually. She is still alive without recurrence for more than 1 year. The caster for composite strip was assembled by combination of the open-top melt drag type and the downward melt drag type caster. The matrix was Al-12mass%Si, and inserted net was made from SUS304 stainless steel. The diameter of the wire of the net was 0.29 mm, and distance between the wires was 0.98 mm (#20). The roll speed was 30 m/min. The net was not reacted with the matrix, and there was not gap between the matrix and the net. The mechanical property of the net-inserted composite strip was affected by the direction of the wire of the net. When the angle of the wire against the tensile direction was 45 degrees, elongation of the composite became better than that of the matrix from 14% up to 23%. This reason was improvement of the local contraction of the composite strip. The net-inserted composite strip could be cold rolled. The reduction of the net was smaller than that of the strip. Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) with the presence of a sarcomatous component is exceptionally uncommon in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA). We report a case of hepatic ASC with rhabdoid transformation, one variation of sarcomatous change. A 72-year-old man was admitted to our hospital after being diagnosed with a 45 mm-diameter neoplastic lesion in the right hepatic duct on abdominal computed tomography. Laboratory findings showed increases in AST, ALT, ALP, gamma-GT, CA19-9 and DUPAN-II. The patient then underwent an extended right hepatectomy. Histopathologically, the tumor was composed of an ASC component within an abundant fibrous stroma and a sarcomatoid carcinoma component. By immunohistochemistry, keratin 7 and keratin 19 were expressed by all tumor cells. Expression of keratin 5/6, p40 and p63 was restricted to the squamous component. The sarcomatoid component was immunoreactive for vimentin with no loss of INI1 expression. This component also showed a loss of membranous E-cadherin expression and a reduction of membranous β-catenin expression. Staining for desmin, myoglobin and HepPar1 was negative in any tumor cells. The patient died of liver failure 3 months after surgery. This report aims to provide a better understanding of the clinicopathological characteristics and disease progression of the rare variants of iCCA to aid diagnosis and treatment. A major obstacle to improving prognoses in ovarian cancer is the lack of effective screening methods for early detection. Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have been recognized as promising biomarkers that could lead to clinical applications. Here, to develop an optimal detection method, we use microarrays to obtain comprehensive miRNA profiles from 4046 serum samples, including 428 patients with ovarian tumors. A diagnostic model based on expression levels of ten miRNAs is constructed in the discovery set. Validation in an independent cohort reveals that the model is very accurate (sensitivity, 0.99; specificity, 1.00), and the diagnostic accuracy is maintained even in early-stage ovarian cancers. Furthermore, we construct two additional models, each using 9-10 serum miRNAs, aimed at discriminating ovarian cancers from the other types of solid tumors or benign ovarian tumors. Our findings provide robust evidence that the serum miRNA profile represents a promising diagnostic biomarker for ovarian cancer.
