Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia, and atrial fibrosis is a pathological hallmark of structural remodeling in AF. Prostaglandin I2 (PGI2) can prevent the process of fibrosis in various tissues via cell surface Prostaglandin I2 receptor (IP). However, the role of PGI2 in AF and atrial fibrosis remains unclear. The present study aimed to clarify the role of PGI2 in angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced AF and the underlying molecular mechanism. PGI2 content was decreased in both plasma and atrial tissue from patients with AF and mice treated with Ang II. Treatment with the PGI2 analog, iloprost, reduced Ang II-induced AF and atrial fibrosis. Iloprost prevented Ang II-induced atrial fibroblast collagen synthesis and differentiation. RNA-sequencing analysis revealed that iloprost significantly attenuated transcriptome changes in Ang II-treated atrial fibroblasts, especially mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-regulated genes. We demonstrated that iloprost elevated cAMP levels and then activated protein kinase A, resulting in a suppression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 and P38 activation, and ultimately inhibiting MAPK-dependent interleukin-6 transcription. In contrast, cardiac fibroblast-specific IP-knockdown mice had increased Ang II-induced AF inducibility and aggravated atrial fibrosis. Together, our study suggests that PGI2/IP system protects against atrial fibrosis and that PGI2 is a therapeutic target for treating AF. Kagome-lattices of 3d-transition metals hosting Weyl/Dirac fermions and topological flat bands exhibit non-trivial topological characters and novel quantum phases, such as the anomalous Hall effect and fractional quantum Hall effect. With consideration of spin–orbit coupling and electron correlation, several instabilities could be induced. The typical characters of the electronic structure of a kagome lattice, i.e., the saddle point, Dirac-cone, and flat band, around the Fermi energy (EF) remain elusive in magnetic kagome materials. We present the experimental observation of the complete features in ferromagnetic kagome layers of YMn6Sn6 helically coupled along the c-axis, by using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and band structure calculations. We demonstrate a Dirac dispersion near EF, which is predicted by spin-polarized theoretical calculations, carries an intrinsic Berry curvature and contributes to the anomalous Hall effect in transport measurements. In addition, a flat band and a saddle point with a high density of states near EF are observed. These multi-sets of kagome features are of orbital-selective origin and could cause multi-orbital magnetism. The Dirac fermion, flat band and saddle point in the vicinity of EF open an opportunity in manipulating the topological properties in magnetic materials. For acoustic detection of internal waves, the core issue is to obtain the temporal and spatial distribution of the sound speed profile (SSP). In the inversion process, the SSP is usually expressed by a few parameters through expansion. However, information about internal waves may sometimes be hard to read directly from the inversion results. The aim of this paper is to characterize the internal waves directly though expansion coefficients. By deducing the dynamic equations of the internal waves, an orthogonal basis called the hydrodynamic normal modes (HNMs) can be extracted from a certain number of SSP samples. Unlike the existing widely used empirical orthogonal functions (EOFs), the HNMs have a more explicit physical meaning that is directly related to internal wave activity. The HNMs are then used to expand the SSP time series, and the expansion coefficients are derived. Eventually, information about internal waves can be read directly from the time derivative of the expansion coefficients of the first two modes. In this study, this method is applied to thermistor string profiles from the northern shelf of the South China Sea, where the SSP shows evident spatial and temporal variations due to internal waves. The results show that the SSP can be described approximately by the first two modes with adequate precision. The special oscillation structure of the time derivative of the expansion coefficients can be used to detect internal solitary waves. The expansion coefficients can also give information on internal solitary wave amplitude and width. According to theoretical and experimental analysis, it can be concluded that the internal waves monitoring method introduced in this paper is effective. The HNMs method is simple to apply and depends less on sample data than EOFs. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is widely used as a plasticizer and softener, and has been found in a variety of environmental media, owing to widespread applications in the industry, medicine, agriculture, and domestication. The toxic effects of DBP in the environment may be mitigated by removing it via adsorption onto humic acid (HA). This study is aimed at investigating the sorption mechanism of DBP on two kinds of HA samples (HA1 and HA2) at different temperatures and pH. The sorption of DBP onto HA was observed to occur in two stages with an equilibration time of 24 h. All the sorption isotherms fit well to the linear model and linearized form of the Freundlich model, with R values between 0.984 and 0.999. Further, the results showed that the sorption capacity decreased with increase in temperature and pH on HA1 and HA2. Thermodynamic analyses demonstrated that the sorption of DBP onto HA was a spontaneous and exothermic process, with physical sorption as the predominant mechanism. Furthermore, thermodynamic and infrared spectral analyses suggested that the main sorption forces involved were hydrogen bonding and dipole forces. C NMR spectral analyses demonstrated that the alkyl carbon of DBP played an important role in its sorption on HA1, while the alkyl and aromatic carbons were vital for sorption on HA2. Further, the HA1-DBP NMR spectrum contained a new signal at 220 ppm that was not observed for free HA1. Mesoporous carbide-derived carbons (CDC) with hierarchical pore structure were fabricated by chlorine etching of mesoporous titanium carbides. Their capacitive behaviors for electrochemical capacitor were investigated in comparison to those of purely microporous CDC. The as-prepared mesoporous CDC exhibited not only uniform micropores formed by leaching out titanium atoms but a 3-D mesoporous network inherited from their parent carbides. These mesoporous CDC could deliver a high specific capacitance of 120 F g in 1 M tetraethylammonium tetrafluoroborate dissolved in propylene carbonate. Moreover, they owned excellent frequency response and superior rate capability with capacitance retention ratio of 91% at current density of 10 A g. A high energy density of 16.3 Wh kg was obtained even though power density was raised up to 4,300 W kg. The distinctive capacitive performance of mesoporous CDC would be attributed to their superior microstructure, in which the uniform micropores contributed to high charge storage while the 3-D mesoporous network and nanometer-scaled dimension of particles facilitated ions transfer as well as shortened electrolyte diffusion distance.
