In new paradigms, teachers' cognition and emotion must be considered dialectically shaped co-evolving processes. To address the issue, the study examined how language teachers' perezhivaniya (plural form of perezhivanie, a concept from Sociocultural Theory that describes a unity between cognition and emotion) developed. During a semester (17 weeks), a study of 13 teachers of Japanese as a foreign language was conducted at a university in northeast China. Narrative inquiry was used to collect perezhivaniya excerpts from retrospective diaries, reflection diaries, and interviews. Q-methodology was also employed to group participants based on their cognitive and emotional changes toward technology-mediated language teaching (TMLT). In our study, teachers' negative perezhivaniya resulted from a lack of affordances for online and hybrid education in professional development. Teachers experienced many dramas (unit of analysis of perezhivaniya) as they adapted to TMLT. Conversely, teachers' positive perezhivaniya originated from teacher agency and developed through affordances offered by the sociocultural community. We also found teacher perezhivaniya changed in three staged patterns: resistance and demotivation (during large-scale offline teaching before the pandemic), obligation and adaptation (during large-scale online teaching during the pandemic), and inventiveness and motivation (during online and offline blended teaching after the pandemic). In conclusion, we identified teachers' perezhivaniya developed in a dynamic, historical, complex as well as multi-layered (with time-developmental, drama-historical, and SSD-social as indicators) pattern. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly metastatic and heterogeneous type of breast cancer with poor outcomes. Precise, non-invasive methods for diagnosis, monitoring and prognosis of TNBC are particularly challenging due to a paucity of TNBC biomarkers. Glycans on extracellular vesicles (EVs) hold the promise as valuable biomarkers, but conventional methods for glycan analysis are not feasible in clinical practice. Here, we report that a lectin-based thermophoretic assay (EVLET) streamlines vibrating membrane filtration (VMF) and thermophoretic amplification, allowing for rapid, sensitive, selective and cost-effective EV glycan profiling in TNBC plasma. A pilot cohort study shows that the EV glycan signature reaches 91% accuracy for TNBC detection and 96% accuracy for longitudinal monitoring of TNBC therapeutic response. Moreover, we demonstrate the potential of EV glycan signature for predicting TNBC progression. Our EVLET system lays the foundation for non-invasive cancer management by EV glycans. Red chlorophyll catabolite reductase (RCCR) is essential in catalyzing chlorophyll degradation in plants. Our study illustrated that the amino acid sequence, secondary structure, trans-membrane sequence and motif of tobacco RCCR were highly conserved. Although virus-induced gene silencing of RCCR had only a slight effect on the phenotype of leaves in Nicotiana benthamiana, it resulted in a significant increase in chlorophyll and carotenoid content. Moreover, both NbCLH and NbPAO encoding enzymes in chlorophyll degradation pathway were decreased when NbRCCR1 was silenced. However, the expression of key genes NbPSY1, NbLCYB and NbCRTISO in carotenoids biosynthesis was increased. Beside this, the genes encoding the proteins of LHC II (NbLHCB2, NbLHCB3 and NbLHCB6) were down-regulated. Results of BN-PAGE showed that the accumulation of Phytosystem II (PS II) supercomplex and LHC II complex in leaves of RCCR silenced tobacco was significantly less than wild type. Additionally, both NPQ and reactive oxygen species were increased in RCCR silenced tobacco under high light stress. Our results illustrated that RCCR might participate in regulating the biosynthesis of chlorophyll and carotenoids in higher plants. Sepsis is considered to be a systemic inflammatory response, which results in organ dysfunction. LncRNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) involved in sepsis progression has been reported. However, the underlying mechanism of NEAT1 in sepsis-induced inflammatory response remains to be revealed. In this study, NEAT1 and POU domain class 2 transcription factor 1 (POU2F1) were highly expressed in LPS-induced septic RAW264.7 cells, opposite to miR-31-5p expression. Furthermore, we found that NEAT1 silencing inhibited LPS-induced inflammatory response and cell proliferation, and promoted cell apoptosis. Subsequently, we found that miR-31-5p interacted with NEAT1 and targeted the 3′UTR of POU2F1, and in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells, the inhibition of NEAT1 silencing was reversed by miR-31-5p knockdown, while POU2F1 downregulation could cover the functions of miR-31-5p knockdown. In a word, this study indicates that NEAT1 inhibits the LPS-induced progression of sepsis in RAW264.7 cells by modulating miR-31-5p/POU2F1 axis, suggesting that NEAT1 will be the potential therapeutic target for sepsis. Molecular profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) provides a promising noninvasive means to diagnose, monitor, and predict the course of metastatic breast cancer (MBC). However, the analysis of EV protein markers has been confounded by the presence of soluble protein counterparts in peripheral blood. Here we use a rapid, sensitive, and low-cost thermophoretic aptasensor (TAS) to profile cancer-associated protein profiles of plasma EVs without the interference of soluble proteins. We show that the EV signature (a weighted sum of eight EV protein markers) has a high accuracy (91.1 %) for discrimination of MBC, non-metastatic breast cancer (NMBC), and healthy donors (HD). For MBC patients undergoing therapies, the EV signature can accurately monitor the treatment response across the training, validation, and prospective cohorts, and serve as an independent prognostic factor for progression free survival in MBC patients. Together, this work highlights the potential clinical utility of EVs in management of MBC. Spinel ferrites constitute one of the most important families of magnets; their properties are believed to be highly dependent on cation occupancy. Zinc ferrite materials synthesized by various methods are usually reported to exhibit enhanced magnetism, but the mechanism underlying such enhancement remains poorly understood, with at least three effects being considered, namely cation distribution, oxygen vacancies, and surface spin disorder. We report herein the individual influence of cation distribution on the magnetic properties of zinc ferrite microparticles, synthesized by solid-state reaction with a fast (200 K/s) quench process. Based on structure analyses including x-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements, it is concluded that the as-prepared samples exhibited different cation distribution with inversion degree increasing from approximately 0.18 to 0.28 with increasing calcination temperature from 800°C to 1200°C. The magnetism measured at 2 K was found to be enhanced with increase of the inversion degree, while that measured at 300 K was found to be independent of inversion degree. The mechanism of the enhanced magnetization is that the indirect interaction between A and B site at low temperature is stronger than that between two nearest B sites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polyurethane acrylates (PUAs) modified by different amounts of stearyl alcohol were synthesized from stearyl alcohol (SA), isophorone diisocyanate, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, and polycaprolactone triol. The molecular structure was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Real time infrared spectroscopy was used to investigate the kinetics of photopolymerization of synthesized PUAs. The volume shrinkage was measured by laser displacement sensor. The adhesion on glass, polycarbonate (PC), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was tested by the laser micrometer and universal testing machine. The glass transition temperature ( T) and storage modulus ( E′) were measured by dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA). The pendulum hardness, pencil hardness and flexibility were also measured. The results showed that the greater the amount of SA in synthesized PUAs, the lower the volume shrinkage and the better the adhesion to glass, PC, and PVC substrates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Microcrystal muscovite composite superabsorbents (MMCSA) were prepared by water solution polymerization using acrylic acid, acrylamide and itaconic acid as comonomers and microcrystal muscovite as an inorganic additive. Properties, such as water absorbency, salt absorbency, gel strength, water retention capacity and structure of MMCSA characterized by SEM and XRD, were investigated. Water absorbency, salt absorbency, gel strength, water retention capacity and thermostability were enhanced by incorporation of suitable amount of microcrystal muscovite. Water absorption of MMCSA was rapid, requiring 24.55 min to reach 63% of equilibrium absorbency (1218 g/g). Microcrystal muscovite was physically combined into the polymeric network without destroying its polycrystalline structure and microcrystal muscovite composite superabsorbent had some irregular, undulant, and small microporous holes with sheet-like microcrystal muscovite distributed in the polymeric matrix. A novel corn stalk-composite superabsorbent was prepared by graft copolymerization of corn stalk with acrylic acid, acrylamide and sodium 4-styrenesulfonate in aqueous solutions after the pretreatment of corn stalk, using N,N-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker and ammonium persulfate and sodium bisulfite as redox initiators. Factors affecting water absorption rate of the superabsorbent composite, such as the amount of corn stalk, crosslinker, and initiator were investigated. Adsorption rates of Ni(II) and Cd(II) ions of the corn stalk-composite superabsorbent were also studied. Corn stalk-composite superabsorbent had equilibrium adsorption capacities of 210 mg g within 50 min and 505 mg g within 150 min for Ni(II) and Cd(II) ions, respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy indicated the structure of corn stalk-composite superabsorbent. X-ray diffraction indicated that the sharp diffraction peaks of corn stalks disappeared and transformed into a large and wide amorphous dispersion peak. The discontinuous sheet structure of corn stalks disappeared and gel aggregates with microporous holes and small capillary pores were formed after corn stalk graft modification. After absorbing water, the swollen composite superabsorbent formed a network-like structure filled with water. A novel drug delivery system consisting of benzoic acid, 2-hydroxy-, 2- d-ribofuranosylhydrazide (BHR)-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (BHR-SLNs) was prepared using the emulsification-evaporation technique. The mean particle size of the BHR-SLNs measured by photon correlation spectroscopy was about 75 nm. BHR-SLN morphology was assessed by transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The drug entrapment efficiency was 70.2%, as determined via Sephadex gel chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. Drug release assessment in vitro showed that BHR was gradually released from SLNs in a time-dependent manner. Furthermore, treatment of 293T and Hela cells with BHR-SLNs demonstrated that BHR-SLNs were less toxic to normal cells while more effective in antitumor potency compared with the BHR drug alone. To evaluate the antitumor activity and pharmacokinetics of podophyllotoxin (PPT) incorporated into solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN), Kunming mice inoculated with flesh tumor were used as animal model. The mice received a single daily intraperitoneal injection of PPT in 20% ethanol (5 mg/kg) and PPT-SLN (5 mg/kg in PPT) for 3 weeks. Gross tumor volumes, body weight and clinical observations were recorded daily. The mice were sacrificed for 24 h after the last administration, and the tumor inhibition rate was calculated with the tumor weight. For the pharmacokinetics research, the mice were treated with intraperitoneal injection of PPT (10 mg/kg) and PPT-SLN (10 mg/kg in PPT). Blood samples were collected at different time to determine the PPT concentration in plasma by HPLC. Blood drug level-time curve was made and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated. As a result of drug administration, the tumor volume and weight of the mice injected with PPT-SLN were significantly restrained compared with mice treated with PPT or negative control. The tumor inhibition rate of 58.13% showed a significant antitumor activity of PPT-SLN. At the same time, the increased weight gain of the mice injected with PPT-SLN suggested a reduced toxicity of PPT in SLN. Pharmacokinetics study displayed a higher blood concentration, a prolonged circulation time, and an increased bioavailability of PPT-SLN compared with those of PPT. Our results demonstrated that PPT-SLN could optimize pharmacokinetics, enhance antitumor activity and attenuate toxicity, so it has a promising prospect for the application in anti-tumor treatment.
