Key message: KLW1 was localized to a 0.6 cM interval near the centromere of chromosome 4B and found to be dominant in conditioning longer kernels and higher kernel weight. Kernel weight is a major wheat yield component and affected by kernel dimensions, filling process and kernel density. Because of this complexity, the mechanism underlying kernel weight is still far from clear. Qtgw.nau-4B or KLW1 was a major kernel weight QTL identified in the Nanda2419 × Wangshuibai population. We showed that introduction of the Nanda2419 allele into elite cultivar Wenmai6 resulted in longer kernels as well as higher kernel weight, without affecting other traits such as spike number per plant, plant height, spike length, spikelet number per spike, and kernel number per spike. KLW1 was dominant in conditioning higher kernel weight and functioned mainly through affecting kernel length. Using F2 plants derived from KLW1 NIL, a high-density genetic map covering the QTL was constructed. KLW1 was consequently confined to the 0.6 cM Xwgrc4219-Xwgrc4067 interval by evaluating the recombinant lines in three field trials. KLW1 is complementary to KT1, the QTL on chromosome 5A of Nanda2419 for thicker and heavier kernels, in producing larger kernels with higher commercial value, augmenting its usefulness in wheat breeding. How to solve the contradiction between development needs and environmental protection has become the difficulty and focus of rural grass-roots government governance. In this paper, from the two dimensions of information interaction and energy flow, based on the calculation of environmental value-added, a new rural environment environmental value-added model is established, and the reliability of the model is verified by taking the data of Pingding County in Shanxi Province as an example. The results show that: (1) the accuracy of the information flow environmental value-added model is as high as 95.96%, and the model can be applied to the outdoor environment comfort prediction; (2) the comprehensive index of the relative value-added of the ecological environment is reduced from 0.61 to 0.31, and the value-added situation of the ecological environment is negative in the evaluation period, and the development is unbalanced and unsustainable. The trend of continuous development is in line with the actual local development. According to the problems of lack of planning and disordered layout of rural settlements in China, it is urgent to further improve the methods of optimizing the settlement pattern of towns and villages and the intensive use of land. The main purpose of this paper is to optimize the layout of rural settlements with a single land-use type and a large number of rural settlements to be relocated. This paper takes the Linpan settlements of Deyuan Town, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province as the research object and establishes the suitability evaluation system of Linpan settlements by the Entropy method. The Linpan settlements of research area are divided into the central and the non-central Linpan settlements and determine the search threshold according to the point pattern analysis method and multi-distance spatial cluster analysis. Through the study of regional preliminary central Linpan settlement selection and search threshold determination, central Linpan settlement site selection, the determination of non-central Linpan settlement's migration direction, the results show that the radiation coverage rate of the central Linpan increased by 17.3%, the number of repeated radiation Linpans decreased by 63.2%, the overlapping area decreased by 49.9%, and finally 179 Linpans were optimized and merged into 36 central Linpans. Thinopyrum ponticum (2 n=70) serves as a valuable gene pool for wheat improvement. Line SN0224, derived from crosses between Th. ponticum and the common wheat cultivar Yannong15, was identified in the present study. Cytogenetic observations showed that SN0224 contains 42 chromosomes in the root-tip cells and 21 bivalents in the pollen mother cells, thereby demonstrating its cytogenetic stability. Genomic in situ hybridization, probed with the total genomic DNA of Th. ponticum, produced hybridization signals in the distal region of two wheat chromosome arms. After inoculation with the Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici ( Bgt) isolates, SN0224 exhibited immunity. Segregation in F s and F s from the cross SN0224/cv. Huixianhong indicated that SN0224 carries a single dominant gene for powdery mildew (Pm) resistance, which was temporarily designated PmSn0224. Three markers Barc212, Xwmc522 and Xbarc1138 were detected to be linked with PmSn0224. Based on the locations of the markers, PmSn0224 was located on the chromosome 2A. None of the three markers above is linked with the previously reported PM resistance genes on chromosome 2A, and none of the previously reported PM resistance genes on chromosome 2A is related to Th. ponticum. Spike-related traits contribute greatly to grain yield in wheat. To localize wheat chromosomes for factors affecting the seven spike-related traits-i.e., the spike length (SL), the basal sterile spikelet number (BSSN), the top sterile spikelet number (TSSN), the sterile spikelet number in total (SSN), the spikelet number per spike (SPN), the fertile spikelet number (FSN) and the spike density (SD)-two F recombinant inbred line (RIL) populations were generated. They were derived from crosses between Weimai 8 and Jimai 20 (WJ) and between Weimai 8 and Yannong 19 (WY), comprising 485 and 229 lines, respectively. Combining the two new linkage maps and the phenotypic data collected from the four environments, we conducted quantitative trait locus (QTL) detection for the seven spike-related traits and evaluated their genetic correlations. Up to 190 putative additive QTL for the seven spike-related traits were detected in WJ and WY, distributing across all the 21 wheat chromosomes. Of these, at least nine pairwise QTL were common to the two populations. In addition, 38 QTL showed significance in at least two of the four different environments, and 18 of these were major stable QTL. Thus, they will be of great value for marker assisted selection (MAS) in breeding programs. Though co-located QTL were universal, every trait owned its unique QTL and even two closely related traits were not excluded. The two related populations with a large/moderate population size made the results authentic and accurate. This study will enhance the understanding of the genetic basis of spike-related traits.
