Android devices have evolved to offer a diverse array of services, spanning applications related to banking, business, health, and entertainment. The widespread adoption of Android devices, coupled with the open-source architecture of the Android operating system, has rendered them a prime target for malicious actors. Among the most perilous threats are Android botnets, which enable malicious actors, often referred to as botmasters, to exert remote control for the execution of destructive attacks. Android botnets have huge potential to be an emerging threat to mobile device security. In this paper, we focus on detecting evolving Android botnets and introduce a new dataset of 3458 apps, represented by 455 permission-based features. We propose an improved multilayer perceptron neural network for zero-day botnet detection. Our methodology, in this way, achieves an accuracy of 98.5%, thus outperforming traditional classifiers. Data-driven methods are implemented using particularly complex scenarios that reflect in-depth perennial knowledge and research. Hence, the available intelligent algorithms are completely dependent on the quality of the available data. This is not possible for real-time applications, due to the nature of the data and the computational cost that is required. This work introduces an Automatic Differentiation Variational Inference (ADVI) Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) to perform real-time anomaly detection of industrial infrastructure. Using the ADVI methodology, local variables are automatically transformed into real coordinate space. This is an innovative algorithm that optimizes its parameters with mathematical methods by choosing an approach that is a function of the transformed variables. The ADVI RBM approach proposed herein identifies anomalies without the need for prior training and without the need to find a detailed solution, thus making the whole task computationally feasible. Modern information society depends on reliable functionality of information systems infrastructure, while at the same time the number of cyber-attacks has been increasing over the years and damages have been caused. Furthermore, graphs can be used to show paths than can be exploited by attackers to intrude into systems and gain unauthorized access through vulnerability exploitation. This paper presents a method that builds attack graphs using data supplied from the maritime supply chain infrastructure. The method delivers all possible paths that can be exploited to gain access. Then, a recommendation system is utilized to make predictions about future attack steps within the network. We show that recommender systems can be used in cyber defense by predicting attacks. The goal of this paper is to identify attack paths and show how a recommendation method can be used to classify future cyber-attacks in terms of risk management. The offline evaluation of recommender systems is typically based on accuracy metrics such as the Mean Absolute Error and the Root Mean Squared Error for error rating prediction and Precision and Recall for measuring the quality of the top-N recommendations. However, it is difficult to reproduce the results since there are various libraries that can be used for running experiments and also within the same library there are many different settings that if not taken into consideration when replicating the results might vary. In this paper, we show that within the use of the same library an explanation-based approach can be used to assist in the reproducibility of experiments. Our proposed approach has been experimentally evaluated using a wide range of recommendation algorithms ranging from collaborative filtering to complicated fuzzy recommendation approaches that can solve the filter bubble problem, a real dataset, and the results show that it is both practical and effective. Directed fuzzy hypergraphs are introduced as a generalization of both crisp directed hypergraphs and directed fuzzy graphs. It is proved that the set of all directed fuzzy hypergraphs can be structured into a magmoid with operations graph composition and disjoint union. In this framework a notion of syntactic recognition inside magmoids is defined. The corresponding class is proved to be closed under boolean operations and inverse morphisms of magmoids. Moreover, the language of all strongly connected fuzzy graphs and the language that consists of all fuzzy graphs that have at least one directed path from the begin node to the end node through edges with membership grade 1 are recognizable. Internet based applications and in particular e-learning ones have proved very successful when applied to training diverse groups in small and disparate communities. This paper discusses the potential of e-learning methods in training in the rural sector of north-eastern Greece. A survey was carried out amongst Greek rural communities in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace during the autumn of 2003. The results of the survey have been analyzed and discussed with two axes of focus in mind: Establishing which areas of learning would be the most immediately acceptable for use in an e-learning application of training within the farming industry and to ascertain the extent to which e-learning has already been adopted within the rural areas of north-eastern Greece.
