Estimating emissions and removals from forest degradation is important, yet challenging, for many countries. This paper reports results from analysis of country reporting (to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and also to several climate finance initiatives) and key take-aways from a south-south exchange workshop among 17 countries with forest mitigation programmes. During the workshop discussions it became clear that, where forest degradation is a major source of emissions, governments want to include it when reporting on their mitigation efforts. However, challenges to accurately estimating emissions from degradation relate to defining forest degradation and setting the scope for estimating carbon stock changes; to detecting and monitoring degradation using earth observation data; and to estimating associated emissions and removals from field observation results. The paper concludes that recent and ongoing investments into data and analysis methods have helped improve forest degradation estimation, but further methodological work and continued effort will be needed. Despite the formal declaration of the end of the global health emergency related to COVID-19, the disease continues to pose significant challenges worldwide. This study addresses the gap in existing literature regarding the impact of COVID-19 anxiety on university students during the peak of the pandemic. Specifically, it examined how COVID-19 anxiety influenced the meaning in life, life orientation, and academic motivation; variables that are known predictors of student success and their overall well-being. Conducted as a non-experimental quantitative cross-sectional study, data were collected from 557 participants selected through purposive sampling. The research used the Coronavirus Pandemic Anxiety Scale, Academic Motivation Scale, Revised Life Orientation Test, and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire to gather relevant data. Findings reveal that COVID-19 anxiety has a negative influence on academic motivation, presence of meaning, and life orientation. The results also indicate a positive relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and the search for meaning in life. These findings not only enhance the understanding of the pandemic's adverse impacts on university students but also provide a basis for future interventions and strategies by educational stakeholders and policymakers aimed at mitigating these effects. Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) with substances like psilocybin and MDMA has shown promise for conditions including depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Psilocybin and MDMA may become approved medicines in the coming decade. This study assessed knowledge and attitudes regarding PAT among 879 U.S. healthcare professionals via anonymous online survey. Multivariable linear regression was used to identify predictors of openness to clinical use. Most participants (71.2%) were female and White (85.8%), with a mean (SD) age of 45.5 (12.7) years. Registered nurses (25.4%) and physicians (17.7%) comprised the largest professional groups. Respondents endorsed strong belief in therapeutic promise, and moderate openness to clinical use and support for legal access to both substances, with higher overall ratings for psilocybin compared to MDMA. Objective knowledge items revealed low knowledge of therapeutic uses, risks, and pharmacology. Primary concerns were lack of trained providers, financial cost, and potential contraindications. Prior psychedelic use, self-rated knowledge, younger age, and professional role predicted openness to clinical use of psilocybin and MDMA, with physicians reporting lower openness. As psychedelics continue to garner popular and scientific interest, results indicate a pressing need for additional formal training to provide balanced, evidence-based information from trusted sources. Ethical conflicts (ECs), dilemmas auditors face when personal values or professional obligations clash with their actions, pose significant challenges to the auditing profession, potentially influencing turnover intention (TI). This study addresses a knowledge gap in the related research by focusing on two critical EC triggers: workload (WL) and perceived auditor ethical failure (PAEF: ethical sensitivity), which refers to auditors' perceptions of ethical violations within their profession. Grounded in role theory and ethical climate theory, our study investigates the impact of WL and PAEF on ECs and explores how these conflicts mediate the relationship between PAEF/WL and TI. Additionally, we examine the moderating role of organisational ethical climate (EtC) in these relationships. Using a survey of auditors and employing partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), our results reveal that both WL and PAEF increase ECs, thus escalating TI. The findings suggest that a firm's perceived EtC can negatively moderate the relationship between PAEF and ECs. The study underlines the importance of fostering a strong EtC to manage ECs effectively and provides valuable implications for professionals, regulators, and academics seeking to improve ethical practices within auditing firms and to reduce auditor turnover. Purpose: Cover crops and reduced tillage are two key climate smart agricultural practices that can provide agroecosystem services including improved soil health, increased soil carbon sequestration, and reduced fertilizer needs. Crop residue carbon traits (i.e., lignin, holocellulose, non-structural carbohydrates) and nitrogen concentrations largely mediate decomposition rates and amount of plant-available nitrogen accessible to cash crops and determine soil carbon residence time. Non-destructive approaches to quantify these important traits are possible using spectroscopy. Methods: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of spectroscopy instruments to quantify crop residue biochemical traits in cover crop agriculture systems using partial least squares regression models and a combination of (1) the band equivalent reflectance (BER) of the PRecursore IperSpettrale della Missione Applicativa (PRISMA) imaging spectroscopy sensor derived from laboratory collected Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD) spectra (n = 296) of 11 cover crop species and three cash crop species, and (2) spaceborne PRISMA imagery that coincided with destructive crop residue collections in the spring of 2022 (n = 65). Spectral range was constrained to 1200 to 2400 nm to reduce the likelihood of confounding relationships in wavelengths sensitive to plant pigments or those related to canopy structure for both analytical approaches. Results: Models using laboratory BER of PRISMA all demonstrated high accuracies and low errors for estimation of nitrogen and carbon traits (adj. R2 = 0.86 − 0.98; RMSE = 0.24 − 4.25%) and results indicate that a single model may be used for a given trait across all species. Models using spaceborne imaging spectroscopy demonstrated that crop residue carbon traits can be successfully estimated using PRISMA imagery (adj. R2 = 0.65 − 0.75; RMSE = 2.71 − 4.16%). We found moderate relationships between nitrogen concentration and PRISMA imagery (adj. R2 = 0.52; RMSE = 0.25%), which is partly related to the range of nitrogen in these senesced crop residues (0.38–1.85%). PRISMA imagery models were also influenced by atmospheric absorption, variability in surface moisture content, and some presence of green vegetation. Conclusion: As spaceborne imaging spectroscopy data become more widely available from upcoming missions, crop residue trait estimates could be regularly generated and integrated into decision support tools to calculate decomposition rates and associated nitrogen credits to inform precision field management, as well as to enable measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification of net carbon benefits from climate smart agricultural practice adoption in an emerging carbon marketplace. This study assesses the potential of using multispectral images collected by an unmanned aerial system (UAS) on machine learning (ML) frameworks to estimate cereal rye (Secale cereal L.) biomass. Multispectral images and ground-truth cereal rye biomass data were collected from 15 farmers' fields up to three times between March and May in northwest Ohio. Images were processed to derive 13 vegetation indices (VIs). Out of 13 VIs, six optimal sets of VIs, including excess green (ExG), normalized green red difference index (NGRDI), soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), blue green ratio (B_G_ratio), red-edge triangular vegetation index (RTVI), and normalized difference red-edge (NDRE) were selected using the variance inflation factor (VIF) based feature selection approach. Six regression models including a multiple linear regression (MLR), elastic net (ENET), multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS), support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting (XGB) were investigated for estimation of cereal rye biomass based on the VIs. For most of the models, the six selected VIs performed better than or similar to the full set of 13 VIs with R2 ranging from 0.24 to 0.59 and RMSE ranging from 83.13 to 91.89 g/m2 during 10-fold cross-validation. During independent accuracy assessment with the selected set of VIs, XGB exhibited the highest R2 (0.67) and lowest RMSE (83.13 g/m2) and MAE (48.13 g/m2) followed by RF and ENET. For all the models, the agreement between observed and predicted biomass was high for biomass less than or equal to 200 g/m2 but decreased for biomass greater than 200 g/m2. When field-collected structural features were integrated with the selected VIs, the models showed improved performance, with R2 and RMSE of the models reaching up to 0.82 and 61.67 g/m2 respectively. Among the six VIs, SAVI showed the strongest impact on the model prediction for the best-performing RF and XGB regression models. The findings of this study demonstrate the potential of precisely estimating and mapping cereal rye biomass based on UAS-captured multispectral images. Timely information on cover crop growth can facilitate numerous decision-making processes, including planning the planting operations, and management of nutrients, weeds, and soil moisture to improve agronomic and environmental outcomes. We must urgently synthesize highly efficient and stable oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) catalysts for acidic media. Herein, we constructed a series of Ti mesh (TM)-supported RuO2/CoMoyOx catalysts (RuO2/CoMoyOx/TM) with heterogeneous structures. By optimizing the ratio of Co to Mo, RuO2/CoMo2Ox/TM with low Ru loading (0.079 mg/cm2) achieves remarkable OER performance (η = 243 mV at 10 mA/cm2) and high stability (300 h @ 10 mA/cm2) in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 electrolyte. The activity of RuO2/CoMoyOx/TM can be maintained for 50 h at 100 mA/cm2, and a water electrolyzer with RuO2/CoMo2Ox/TM as anode can operate for 40 h at 100 mA/cm2, suggesting the remarkable OER durability of RuO2/CoMoyOx/TM in acidic electrolyte. Owing to the heterogeneous interface between CoMo2Ox and RuO2, the electronic structure of Ru atoms was optimized and electron-rich Ru was formed. With modulated electronic properties, the dissociation energy of H2O is weakened, and the OER barrier is lowered. Organizational and family support may be invested to reduce workers' family-to-work conflict and increase their and their family members' family satisfaction. However, data on the extent to which workplace and family support, family-to-work conflict, and family satisfaction were linked during the COVID-19 pandemic for workers and their families is still limited. This study explored the actor and partner effects between perceived workplace support for families and perceived family support, family-to-work conflict, and family satisfaction, in different-sex dual-earner parents with adolescents and the mediating role of parents' family-to-work conflict. In the Metropolitan Region of Chile, 430 dual-earner parents and their adolescent child (mean age of 12.8 years, 53.7% female) were recruited for the study. Mothers and fathers responded to measures of family-to-work conflict and perceived workplace support for families and the Perceived Family Support Scale. The three family members answered the Satisfaction with Family Life Scale. Analyses were conducted using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model and structural equation modeling. Results showed that mothers' and fathers' perceived workplace support for families and perceived family support helped reduce their family-to-work conflict; no other association involving parents' perceived workplace support for families was significant. By contrast, direct actor and partner effects were found between parents' perceived family support and the three family members' family satisfaction. Family-to-work conflict showed two significant mediating roles: One intraindividual in fathers and one intraindividual from fathers to adolescents. These findings indicate that resources both parents gain from perceived family support positively affect the three family members' family satisfaction by different mechanisms and underscore the importance of family support for family satisfaction during the pandemic. Previous research has established a positive correlation between meaning in life and academic achievement, yet several gaps remain unaddressed. Firstly, the directionality of their relationships is unclear, particularly the potential impact of academic engagement on life meaning. Secondly, most studies have not distinguished between the distinct dimensions of meaning in life—presence of meaning and search for meaning. Thirdly, the underlying mechanisms of these relationships are not well-understood. To address these gaps, this study conducted a six-month, two-wave longitudinal analysis involving 3,895 Chinese secondary school students. Utilizing a cross-lagged panel model, we examined the causal relationships between both dimensions of meaning in life and academic engagement, with a specific focus on the mediating role of hope. Results indicated a reciprocal relationship between presence of meaning and academic engagement, where hope acted as a positive mediator within their bidirectional causal pathways. Conversely, the relationship between the search for meaning and academic engagement was unidirectional, with academic engagement significantly and positively predicting the search for meaning via increased levels of hope, but not vice versa. The main objective of this study is to examine the psychometric properties of the PERMA-Profiler in a Spanish context. The PERMA-Profiler, developed by Butler & Kern (Int J Wellbeing 6(3):1-48, 2016) to measure Seligman's (Flourish: A visionary new understanding of happiness and well-being, 2011) PERMA model of flourishing, consists of five domains that assess well-being: Positive Emotion (P), Engagement (E), Relationships (R), Meaning (M), and Accomplishment (A). We translated and adapted the PERMA-Profiler, analyzed the instrument's reliability, its validity based on an internal structure through three confirmatory factor analyses, gender and age invariance, and its convergent and discriminant validity. A total of 2525 participants completed all measures. The results of the analyses to confirm the internal consistency are very acceptable in all the domains and in Overall Well-being (PERMA), except for the Engagement domain. The results of three confirmatory factor analyses show that the model of five independent interrelated factors (domains) presents the best fit. The analysis shows the invariance across gender and age groups. The analyses of the convergent validity show that are positively and significantly related to satisfaction with life (SWLS), to the six evaluated dimensions of psychological well-being (PWB), to positive affect (PANAS) and dispositional optimism (LOT-R) and the general physical and mental health status (SF-36). The discriminant validity analyses show that are related negatively and significantly to negative affect (PANAS), the total score of depression (BDI-II) and the Cognitive-Affective and Somatic-Motivational factors. Meaning salience, or awareness of meaning in the present moment, is an emerging concept with potential implications for health and wellness. The purpose of this study was to understand the relationships between meaning salience and eight dimensions of wellness, and to see whether meaning salience moderated the relationship between presence of meaning and wellness. Participants (N = 1711) were recruited to complete a cross-sectional survey through Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Meaning salience was related to better wellness in seven of the eight wellness domains (healthy eating and activity, financial stress, occupational wellness, sleep, perceived wellness, social wellness, and stress, excluding avoiding unhealthy foods). Meaning salience significantly moderated the relationships between presence of meaning and four of eight wellness dimensions, such that at high levels of meaning salience, both high and low presence of meaning had stronger relationships with wellness. Those with high meaning salience and high presence of meaning scored best on four wellness dimensions; however, those with high meaning salience and low presence of meaning scored the worst on four wellness dimensions. Bipolar membranes in electrochemical CO2 conversion cells enable different reaction environments in the CO2-reduction and O2-evolution compartments. Under ideal conditions, water-splitting in the bipolar membrane allows for platinum-group-metal-free anode materials and high CO2 utilizations. In practice, however, even minor unwanted ion crossover limits stability to short time periods. Here we report the vital role of managing ionic species to improve CO2 conversion efficiency while preventing acidification of the anodic compartment. Through transport modelling, we identify that an anion-exchange ionomer in the catalyst layer improves local bicarbonate availability and increasing the proton transference number in the bipolar membranes increases CO2 regeneration and limits K+ concentration in the cathode region. Through experiments, we show that a uniform local distribution of bicarbonate ions increases the accessibility of reverted CO2 to the catalyst surface, improving Faradaic efficiency and limiting current densities by twofold. Using these insights, we demonstrate a fully platinum-group-metal-free bipolar membrane electrode assembly CO2 conversion system exhibiting <1% CO2/cation crossover rates and 80-90% CO2-to-CO utilization efficiency over 150 h operation at 100 mA cm−2 without anolyte replenishment. Here, authors report that local ionic transport across cathode catalyst layers is vital in improving CO production from CO2. This mixed-methods study investigates the complex factors affecting the psychological well-being of Chinese EFL teachers, particularly the direct effects of mindfulness and growth mindset, and the mediating role of teaching enthusiasm. A quantitative survey (n = 268) was distributed to EFL teachers across diverse provinces in China. Established scales measured psychological well-being, mindfulness, growth mindset, and teaching enthusiasm. The data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with two phases in SPSS and AMOS software. A qualitative phase, employing semi-structured interviews with a subsample (n = 12) of participants, provided deeper insights into the lived experiences of teachers. The quantitative analysis yielded positive direct relationships between mindfulness, growth mindset, and well-being. Notably, teaching enthusiasm emerged as a significant mediating factor. These findings suggest that mindfulness and growth mindset indirectly influence well-being through their positive impact on teaching enthusiasm. The qualitative data corroborated these results, showcasing how mindfulness practices and a growth mindset contribute to a more passionate and fulfilling teaching experience. These combined findings underscore the importance of promoting mindfulness, growth mindset, and teaching enthusiasm to enhance the psychological well-being of Chinese EFL teachers. Facilitating the restoration of upper limb functionality is a key objective of stroke rehabilitation. This study aimed to compare the effects of boxing and scapular stabilization training on scapular mobility, balance angle, muscle strength, motor function, and satisfaction in hemiparetic patients. A total of sixty patients were randomly assigned to one of three groups: the boxing group (BG; n = 20), the scapular stabilization group (SSG; n = 20), or the control group (CG; n = 20) which received no treatment at all. Each treatment group participated in three sessions per week for a total of eight weeks. The scapular mobility, balance angle (SBA), muscle strength, upper extremity motor functions (Manual Function Test-MFT), and treatment satisfaction were evaluated. The BG group showed greater improvements in the SBA (F = 59,951; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.682), mobility-frontal plane (F = 7998; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.222), mobility-sagittal plane (F = 91,632; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.766), and mobility-transverse plane (F = 48,713; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.635) than did the CG group. BG strengthened the serratus anterior (F = 42,227; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.601), while SSG strengthened the infraspinatus (F = 31,772; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.532) more than did CG. Compared with those in the SSG, supraspinatus (F = 52,589; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.653), upper trapezius (F = 42,890; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.605), anterior deltoideus (F = 30,844; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.524), latissimus dorsi (F = 84,345; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.751), MFTs (F = 52,363; p = 0.000; η2 = 0.652) and satisfaction (p = 0.008) were greater in the BG. Artificial intelligence-driven technology increasingly shapes work practices and, accordingly, employees' opportunities for meaningful work (MW). In our paper, we identify five dimensions of MW: pursuing a purpose, social relationships, exercising skills and self-development, autonomy, self-esteem and recognition. Because MW is an important good, lacking opportunities for MW is a serious disadvantage. Therefore, we need to know to what extent employers have a duty to provide this good to their employees. We hold that employers have a duty of beneficence to design for opportunities for MW when implementing AI-technology in the workplace. We argue that this duty of beneficence is supported by the three major ethical theories, namely, Kantian ethics, consequentialism, and virtue ethics. We defend this duty against two objections, including the view that it is incompatible with the shareholder theory of the firm. We then employ the five dimensions of MW as our analytical lens to investigate how AI-based technological innovation in logistic warehouses has an impact, both positively and negatively, on MW, and illustrate that design for MW is feasible. We further support this practical feasibility with the help of insights from organizational psychology. We end by discussing how AI-based technology has an impact both on meaningful work (often seen as an aspirational goal) and decent work (generally seen as a matter of justice). Objectives: Although recent cross-sectional studies have shown a positive link between mindfulness and relationship satisfaction, diary and dyadic studies exploring this association are scarce and limited, especially in populations at risk for abating relationship satisfaction, such as new parents. It is currently unknown whether a new parent's mindfulness is associated with their partner's relationship satisfaction on a daily basis. Method: The present study explores this dyadic link using two measures of mindfulness (general and relational mindfulness) in a sample of couples transitioning into parenthood (M = 5.89 months postpartum). In total, 78 couples (n = 156 participants; 1506 observations) took part in this study. For 14 consecutive days, couples completed diaries measuring their general and relational mindfulness, as well as their relationship satisfaction. Data were analyzed using multilevel modelling for distinguishable dyads. Results: Overall, on days when new parents reported more general mindfulness and relational mindfulness than their habitual level, they reported more relationship satisfaction. We also found mirrored partner effects. On days when new parents reported more relational mindfulness than usual, their partner also reported greater relational satisfaction. Conclusions: This work extends previous research by showing that daily variations in general and relational mindfulness are linked to daily variations in relationship satisfaction. Adolescents involved in the juvenile legal system (JLS) have higher rates of mental health treatment needs compared to their non-justice-involved peers, and they experience disproportionate rates of trauma exposure and trauma-related psychosocial concerns. Most research comparing these adolescent groups draws data from separate studies, making it more challenging to understand meaningful differences between the two groups. Research documenting making such comparisons can guide prevention and intervention strategies for communities and their juvenile detention centers. The current study involves a secondary data analysis of billing claims from an outpatient community clinic with a satellite location embedded in the local juvenile detention center. Descriptive statistics determined the top five primary diagnoses in the sample apart from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): major depressive disorder, ADHD, adjustment disorder, unspecified trauma and stressor-related disorder (UTD), and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Hierarchical logistic regression models were used to understand if being evaluated in a detention or community setting, sex, and age predicted the likelihood of having one of these top primary diagnoses. Participants (n = 981) were adolescents ages 12–20 (Mage = 15.93 years, SDage = 1.924, 60.6% male) seen for psychiatric evaluation in a community mental health agency and a juvenile detention facility. Among detained adolescents (n = 635), 141 were diagnosed with PTSD (22.2%), compared to 36 in the community clinic (10.4%). The odds of an adolescent in detention receiving a PTSD diagnosis were 2.5 times higher compared to adolescents evaluated in the community (p < 0.001, ExpB 2.54). There was a decreased likelihood for adolescents to receive a GAD or UTD diagnosis while in detention. In this sample, adolescents evaluated in detention had significantly higher odds of being diagnosed with PTSD and a lower likelihood of receiving GAD or UTD that was not PTSD. This finding supports previous literature that adolescents in detention have higher rates of PTSD than their peers in the community. It is crucial to implement evidence-based trauma treatment in detention settings, and research should continue to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of these interventions. Understanding children's psychological well-being (PWB) from a eudaimonic perspective is crucial given its impact on children's overall well-being and quality of life. This perspective denotes PWB as the realisation of one's true potential and attaining meaningful goals that lead to personal growth and fulfilment. Despite the recent increasing interest in children's PWB, there is limited literature in this area. This may be due to the abstract nature of eudaimonic concepts, which are challenging to operationalise and measure, leading to less empirical attention. Using a systematic review, we synthesised existing empirical studies on children's PWB from a eudaimonic perspective. We identified 32 quantitative articles, which presented in four different categories, namely validation studies, predictors and correlates of PWB, descriptive studies, and intervention studies. Most studies used Ryff's (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 57, 1069–1081, 1989) theoretical model of PWB and her PWB Scale, and were conducted in high-income countries. Future research should prioritise conducting studies in diverse socio-economic and cultural contexts to ensure a comprehensive understanding of children's PWB. By expanding geographic and socio-economic representation, and including longitudinal studies, we can develop more effective and inclusive interventions and policies that cater to the needs of children globally. Consumer well-being involves not only the pursuit of pleasure, but also the pursuit of meaning. However, little is known about how people perceive the costs and benefits of meaning- versus pleasure-oriented experiences. We find that compared to pleasure-oriented experiences, people expect meaning-oriented experiences to be more satisfying after meeting a minimum time investment (i.e., the perceived minimum amount of time needed to derive benefits from consumption; study 1). As a consequence, people choose to prolong their exposure to meaningful (vs. pleasurable) experiences following interruptions (study 2). A proof-of-concept study was conducted to explore the acceptability and potential benefits of a blended positive psychotherapy intervention for clients with residual depressive symptoms. A single-arm pilot study was conducted in 2022 and 2023 with 24 Dutch adults experiencing residual depressive symptoms after treatment. Clients who had recently received an evidence-based treatment for depressive disorder were approached to participate in this study through opportunity sampling. The intervention consisted of nine sessions with a therapist and a six-week self-guided digital positive psychology intervention. Acceptability was examined using semi-structured interviews (n = 15). Participants filled out questionnaires pre- (n = 21), mid- (n = 14) and post-intervention (n = 8). Potential benefits were assessed in terms of changes in mental well-being (MHC-SF), depression (PHQ-9) and personal recovery (QPR). Quantitative data and qualitative data were analysed using linear mixed-effects models and framework analysis, respectively. The analyses were primarily based on Sekhon's theoretical framework of acceptability. Linear mixed-effects analyses showed changes over time in most mental health indicators, including mental well-being (Hedge's g = 1.58), depression (g = 1.43) and personal recovery (g = 1.96). Most of the interviewed participants considered blended positive psychotherapy a valuable adjunctive treatment; it connected well with their wish to become more positive in their daily life without ignoring difficult experiences. For some participants, shifting towards a positive treatment approach was difficult, resulting in early dropout. This study's findings suggest that blended positive psychotherapy is acceptable to most people with residual depressive symptoms after treatment. Drawing on the emerging research on Islamic work ethic (IWE) and informed by the social cognitive theory (SCT), this study seeks to examine how IWE influences employees' behaviors through employees' moral identity internalization, with religiosity moderating the IWE-moral identity Internalization nexus. To examine this moderated mediation model, we collected time-lagged data (N = 427) from employees working in two public organisations in a Muslim majority country in the Middle East, e.g., Jordan. We used a partial least squares structural equation modelling to examine our hypotheses. Our findings suggest that IWE encourages employees' moral identity internalization, which subsequently prompts refraining from unethical pro-organisational behaviors (UPOB) and unethical pro-family behaviors (UPFB). The findings also show that employee religiosity plays an important role in the relationship between IWE and employees' moral identity suggesting that IWE is more prone to influence employee disengagement in UPOB and UPFB through moral identity internalization when employee religiosity is higher. Background: Multimorbidity is common in elderly people, and one of the major consequences of multimorbidity is low health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of comorbid diseases in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and to analyze their relative importance in HRQoL. The aim was also to examine agreement between the generic 15D questionnaire and the PD-specific Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-8) to further validate 15D in the evaluation of HRQoL in patients with PD. Methods: Patients with PD (N = 551) filled a questionnaire on comorbid diseases, and the 15D questionnaire yielding a 15-dimensional health profile and a score representing the overall HRQoL. Self-organizing map was used for an unsupervised pattern recognition of the health profiles. Relative importance analysis was used to evaluate the contribution of 16 comorbid diseases to the 15D score. The agreement between 15D and PDQ-8 questionnaires was studied in a subset of 81 patients that were examined clinically. Results: 533 patients (96.7%) reported comorbid diseases. The most affected dimensions in the 15D questionnaire were secretion, usual activities, discomfort and symptoms, and sexual activity. Self-organizing map identified three patterns of health profiles that included patients with high, low or transition HRQoL. The transition subgroup was similar to low HRQoL subgroup in non-motor dimensions. Sixteen comorbid diseases explained 33.7% of the variance in the 15D score. Memory deficit, depression, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation had the highest relative importance. The intraclass correlation coefficient between the generic 15D and the PD-specific PDQ-8 was 0.642 suggesting moderate reliability. Conclusions: The most marked differences in HRQoL were in the dimensions of secretion, usual activities, and sexual activity. Pattern detection of 15D health dimensions enabled the detection of a subgroup with disproportionately poor HRQoL in non-motor dimensions. Objectives: Mindfulness research has flourished over the past several decades with prominent effects on health and wellbeing. More recently, mindfulness has been expanded to interpersonal contexts, notably within couples. Relationship mindfulness, or mindfulness within the context of romantic relationships, has also demonstrated significant effects on relationship quality beyond individuals' dispositional mindfulness. Given the novelty of relationship mindfulness, there has been little psychometric evaluation of couple-oriented mindfulness scales. The goal of the current study was to test measurement invariance of the Relationship Mindfulness Measure (RMM) as well as the Positive–Negative Relationship Quality (PNRQ) across White and Black women. The associations between relationship mindfulness and positive and negative relationship quality were subsequently examined using latent variable modeling. Method: A sample of 393 women was recruited from two universities (Mean age White = 27.54, Mean age Black = 30.99). A multiple group confirmatory factor analysis was utilized to test measurement invariance, and latent variable structural equation modeling was used to test associations between relationship mindfulness and positive and negative relationship quality. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated configural, metric, and scalar invariance across race for both the RMM and PNRQ. Race did not affect the significant associations found between mindfulness and relationship quality. Conclusions: The results indicate two key findings: (1) Relationship mindfulness was consistent across White and Black women, and (2) the effects of relationship mindfulness on relationship quality did not differ between Black and White women. Meaning in life (MIL) plays a critical role in promoting physical and mental health. Given the multidimensional nature of MIL, further research is needed to distinguish between different MIL components. The present study focused on three similar but distinct multidimensional measures (the Multidimensional Existential Meaning Scale, MEMS; the Multidimensional MIL Scale, MMILS; the Quadripartite Existential Meaning Scale, QEMS), aiming to validate the Chinese versions of these measures and to compare their predictive effects on subjective well-being, indicated by positive affect, negative affect, and life satisfaction. Data were collected from two Chinese samples. Sample 1 (N = 393) was used for factor analysis, while Sample 2 (N = 447) was used for the evaluation of measurement invariance, reliability, and predictive relationships of different MIL measures on subjective well-being. Results showed that all three MIL measurements (MEMS, QEMS, and modified MMILS) demonstrated good reliability and validity and positively predicted subjective well-being. Moreover, QEMS showed significant incremental validity in predicting both positive affect and negative affect when controlling for the effects of the other MIL measures. These findings suggest that compared with MEMS and MMILS, QEMS may be a more suitable multidimensional MIL measure in the Chinese context. Despite conclusive evidence about the positive impact of working relative to unemployment for psychological well-being, there remains much uncertainty about why working relates to improved well-being. Two theoretical perspectives that have often been contrasted in examinations of this question are the latent deprivation model and the agency restriction model. The former emphasizes (latent) psychological benefits of work (time structure, collective purpose, social contact, social status, and enforced activity), asserting that lower well-being in unemployment is due to the deprivation of access to these benefits. The latter emphasizes the monetary (manifest) benefit of work, asserting that it is the financial strain caused by lacking income that is primarily responsible for restricting agency and lowering well-being in unemployment. Here, we integrate these theories with a meta-analysis based on 90 primary studies/sources, 1147 effect sizes, and 69,723 people. Results support a unified account of these theories: employment provides access to all of these psychological and monetary benefits of work, and each benefit is significantly associated with lower psychological distress and higher life satisfaction. The monetary benefit was especially strongly related to life satisfaction. Meta-analytic structural equation modeling revealed that the benefits (except for enforced activity) fully mediated the effect of employment status on psychological distress; in contrast, only collective purpose, social status, and financial strain partially mediated the effect of employment status on life satisfaction. We discuss the implications of these findings for future research and for individuals, organizations, and policymakers to improve the experience of employment and mollify the harms of unemployment. Individuals whose basic needs are naturally satisfied are much less dependent on their environment and more autonomous. Basic psychological needs (i.e., the general motivators of human actions) are significant predictors of online gaming addiction. Moreover, it has been posited that meaning and responsibility in life are at the center of life from an existential point of view. Therefore, a hypothetical model was tested to examine the relationships between basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, relatedness), online gaming addiction, responsibility, and meaning in life. Data were collected from a sample of 546 participants. Mediation analysis was conducted, and the results indicated that basic psychological needs, online gaming addiction, responsibility, and meaning in life had significant negative and positive relationships. The findings indicated that responsibility and meaning in life had a serial mediating effect in the relationship between basic psychological needs and online gaming addiction. The findings also showed that the inverse relationship between online gaming addiction and basic psychological needs was at least partially explained by meaning in life and responsibility. The results of the present study are of great importance and suggest that interventions to satisfy the basic psychological needs of adolescents may help prevent online gaming addiction. The outcome expectancy of social acceptance via internet gaming potentially contributes to internet gaming disorder (IGD) among adolescents. To better understand the relationship, this study developed and validated the 6-item Expected Social Acceptance via Internet Gaming Scale (ESAIGS) among 2339 adolescent internet gamers via a classroom survey in Guangzhou and Chengdu, China from October to December 2018. The prevalence of IGD was 18.0%. By using two half-split subsamples, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses identified and confirmed a unidimensional structure of the ESAIGS, respectively. The ESAIGS showed satisfactory internal consistency, test–retest reliability, composite reliability, and absence of ceiling effect, although a slight-to-moderate floor effect was observed. It also demonstrated convergent and concurrent validity showing significant positive correlations with the three external variables (IGD, internet gaming time, and perceived rewards of internet gaming). Anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis employing non-precious metal electrocatalysts is a promising strategy for achieving sustainable hydrogen production. However, it still suffers from many challenges, including sluggish alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) kinetics, insufficient activity and limited lifetime of non-precious metal electrocatalysts for ampere-level-current-density alkaline HER. Here, we report an efficient alkaline HER strategy at industrial-level current density wherein a flexible WS2 superstructure is designed to serve as the cathode catalyst for AEM water electrolysis. The superstructure features bond-free van der Waals interaction among the low Young's modulus nanosheets to ensure excellent mechanical flexibility, as well as a stepped edge defect structure of nanosheets to realize high catalytic activity and a favorable reaction interface micro-environment. The unique flexible WS2 superstructure can effectively withstand the impact of high-density gas-liquid exchanges and facilitate mass transfer, endowing excellent long-term durability under industrial-scale current density. An AEM electrolyser containing this catalyst at the cathode exhibits a cell voltage of 1.70 V to deliver a constant catalytic current density of 1 A cm−2 over 1000 h with a negligible decay rate of 9.67 μV h−1. Anion exchange membrane water electrolysis is a promising strategy for achieving sustainable hydrogen production. Herein, the authors report a flexible WS2 superstructure as hydrogen evolution catalyst for alkaline water electrolysis which could maintain stable electrolysis for 1000 h at 1 A cm−2. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Sussex-Oxford Compassion for Others Scale (SOCS–O) in a large sample of Spanish undergraduate nursing students. Method: After a forward–backward translation process, we conducted a cross-sectional study among nursing students in their first year of training at two Spanish universities. The mean age of the participants (n = 683) was 22.74 years old, and 83.46% were women. Together with compassion for others, mindfulness was also assessed. Results: Descriptive results revealed high scores across all dimensions of the SOCS–O. The data supported a 3-factor structure with correlated factors (χ2(167) = 363.47, p < 0.01; CFI = 0.96; TLI = 0.95; RMSEA = 0.05, 90% CI = 0.04, 0.05; SRMR = 0.04). Reliability estimates, measured by Cronbach's alpha, were excellent, ranging from 0.87 to 0.93. Measurement invariance across gender was confirmed. Men exhibited significantly lower levels in all compassion dimensions: Recognizing suffering (mean difference = − 0.40), Understanding the universality of suffering (mean difference = − 0.33), and Behavioral compassion (mean difference = − 0.57) (all p < 0.01). The structural equation model showed a clear relationship between mindfulness and compassion (χ2(581) = 1345.79, p < 0.01; CFI = 0.92; TLI = 0.92; RMSEA = 0.04, 90% CI = 0.04, 0.04; SRMR = 0.06). Conclusions: The findings showed that the Spanish version of the SOCS–O has robust psychometric properties. The SOCS–O is a reliable tool for measuring compassion with three subscales and helps advance understanding of compassion among student nurses. The positive relationship between mindfulness and compassion suggests that incorporating mindfulness training into nursing curricula could enhance the delivery of compassionate care. Purpose: Synthetic cathinones constitute the second largest group of new psychoactive substances, which are often used for recreational purposes and reported in toxicological analysis. Various factors may influence the stability of synthetic cathinones between sampling and analysis, and therefore, stability studies are required to determine the best storage conditions as well as extend the period of detection. Methods: This study involved sixteen synthetic cathinones and ten dihydro-metabolites spiked in human urine to evaluate the stability under common storage conditions to imitate real forensic toxicology samples. The samples were stored at either room temperature (22–23 °C) for up to 3 days, refrigerated (4 °C) for up to 14 days or frozen (–40 °C) for up to 12 months, and analyzed in triplicate using a validated liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry method. Results: Analytes' concentrations decreased over time, although slower when stored frozen. All analytes remained stable (> 80%) for 1 month when stored frozen before losses in content were more apparent for some compounds, depending on their chemical structure. Under all storage conditions, the highest instability was observed for analytes containing halogens (i.e., chlorine or fluorine). Thus, halogenated analytes were further investigated by using liquid chromatography coupled to quadruple time-of-flight mass spectrometry to attempt identifying degradation products. Conclusions: Irrespective of parent analytes, dihydro-metabolites had improved stability at each tested temperature, which highlights their importance as appropriate urine biomarkers when retesting is required after a long period of storage. Purpose: Much attention has been offered to the deleterious health impacts of sexual violence (SV) and for the most part, research has adopted a strengths-based perspective, focusing on resilience after SV. However, this research is hindered by inconsistencies regarding the conceptualization of resilience. The purpose of this study is to address these inconsistencies by parsing out current definitions and measurements of resilience to construct a definition that can be applied universally in SV research. Method: We conducted a scoping review of three databases following PRISMA guidelines that elucidates an evidence-based minimum set of items for reporting in systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Hand searching of relevant journals and citation chaining were also conducted. We included fifteen empirical studies that were conducted in North America with women-identifying survivors of SV and that centered the concept of resilience. We extracted the following information: a) definitions of resilience, b) assessments of resilience, c) correlates of resilience, and d) interventions to promote resilience. Results: Our findings suggest there is no uniform definition of resilience. Regarding measures, the Connor-Davidson Resilience scale was the most commonly used. Despite differences in how resilience was conceptualized, resilience was consistently found amongst survivors. Conclusions: We propose the following definition of resilience: "Resilience is a dynamic, nonlinear socio-emotional process that occurs continuously after SV victimization. It refers to the capacity to cope, adapt to, and construct one's life after SV in ways that are culturally relevant and guided by the survivor's own preferences and desired outcomes." Our brain adeptly navigates goals across time frames, distinguishing between urgent needs and those of the past or future. The hippocampus is a region known for supporting mental time travel and organizing information along its longitudinal axis, transitioning from detailed posterior representations to generalized anterior ones. This study investigates the role of the hippocampus in distinguishing goals over time: whether the hippocampus encodes time regardless of detail or abstraction, and whether the hippocampus preferentially activates its anterior region for temporally distant goals (past and future) and its posterior region for immediate goals. We use a space-themed experiment with 7T functional MRI on 31 participants to examine how the hippocampus encodes the temporal distance of goals. During a simulated Mars mission, we find that the hippocampus tracks goals solely by temporal proximity. We show that past and future goals activate the left anterior hippocampus, while current goals engage the left posterior hippocampus. This suggests that the hippocampus maps goals using timestamps, extending its long axis system to include temporal goal organization. It is unclear how the brain prioritizes goals. In the process of both European and American state development, legal institutions developed from many separate venues with overlapping jurisdictions to a hierarchical structure with authority concentrated in the lawmaking institutions of the state. This paper investigates the effects of concentrating authority in an institution whose decisions in a current conflict also bind other (subordinate) institutions deciding future conflicts. To do so, I present a simple formalization of this dimension of legal authority and use a formal model to analyze the effects of varying this dimension on competition among groups in society. The structure of legal authority is formalized as a probability that outcomes of group conflict in the current round determine outcomes in future rounds. In the model, concentrating legal authority increases incentives for competing groups to invest in political organization. In turn, this increases political inequality: As all groups invest more effort, groups with a resource advantage are better able to make use of their advantage. Meaning in life is considered to be an important factor in functioning optimally and for leading a happy life. It is also associated with reduced risk of geriatric depression and despair in later years. The present study aims to understand the relationship between meaning in life and mental health among urban Indian older adults, and to further explore the differences related to gender and living arrangements on meaning in life and mental health of older adults. A total sample of 164 urban older adults (92 males and 72 females) from two different living arrangements, those living alone (Group 1 = 60) and those living with adult married children (Group 2 = 104) were assessed on meaning in life and mental health. The study found that search for meaning in life was higher among urban older adults. Participants had a flourishing mental health, and higher search for meaning was positively correlated with better mental health. Males had higher need to search for newer meaning in their life than urban female older adults. Older adults who were living alone had higher need to search and were looking for something higher in life. However, living arrangement did not have any significant difference on mental health of urban older adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the complex relationships between Psychological Capital, family business, ownership, gender, and firm performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study examines the effects of these variables on firm performance and explores the empirical interaction effects. The findings reveal that Psychological Capital positively influences firm performance, supporting the hypothesis that owners with higher Psychological Capital contribute to better business outcomes. Additionally, family business and ownership significantly impact firm performance, indicating that family involvement and concentrated ownership drive organizational success. Surprisingly, the results indicate a negative impact of gender on firm performance, suggesting that firms managed by women are perceived as less successful. The study also explores the interaction effects and finds that the positive relationship between Psychological Capital and firm performance is amplified in family businesses. However, gender does not moderate this relationship, indicating that women Owners face challenges in translating their Psychological Capital into firm performance in the emerging economy of Ecuador. The results provide insights into the complex dynamics within family businesses and underline the need to address gender disparities and promote inclusive Ownership practices. The fact that primary school is a pre-adolescent period makes it important in terms of regulating emotions. The beginning signals of adolescence occur during this period. It is clear that this challenging process of emotion regulation is linked to age and development, along with parental characteristics and the interactions of the child with the parent. It is believed that researching the variables that influence emotion regulation can help individuals maintain healthy social interactions throughout their journey from childhood to adulthood. In this context, parents' mindfulness levels, which include both intrapersonal and interpersonal processes, play a crucial role in helping their children regulate their emotions. The current study aims to ascertain the serial mediating role of mindfulness in marriage and mindfulness in parenting in the relationship between parents' dispositional mindfulness and the emotion regulation of their children aged 6–10. A total of 333 parents, all of whom were married and had children ranging from 6 to 10 years old, participated in the study. "Emotion Regulation Checklist", "Mindfulness in Marriage Scale", "Mindful Attention Awareness Scale" and "Mindfulness in Parenting Questionnaire" were used in the study. To determine the mediating role, the bootstrap method was used via structural equation modeling (SEM) to ascertain the mediating role. The SEM and bootstrap method revealed that there was a serial mediation effect between parents' dispositional mindfulness and emotion regulation of their children. This effect was attributed to mindfulness in marriage and mindfulness in parenting. Given that the primary school years are a critical developmental stage in improving emotion regulation skills, family-based interventions supporting parents' mindfulness in three important areas (dispositional, marital, and parental) may help to improve the children's capacity to regulate their emotions. Household food waste is a significant concern beyond policy formulation and regulations because of its proximity. This study examines the impact of climate change awareness and household behavioral intentions toward food waste consequence mitigation in south-eastern Nigeria. Specifically, we evaluated complicated household attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intention toward food waste in two experiments with between-subject designs: participants (N = 480), 240 (awareness, 120 aware and 120 unaware) and 240 (information, 120 high and 120 low). The first and second experiments revealed that a significant effect of climate change awareness elicited a more favorable effect on food waste reduction when households were exposed to awareness and high information banners because climate change awareness was sensitized through food waste consequences and disasters. Intention toward food waste reduction mediated the relationship between climate change awareness and food waste reduction. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
