The synthetic dye mixture of Acid Violet 90 and Reactive Yellow 145 was treated with dead Cladosporium cladosporioides biomass. The individual concentrations were calculated with the first-order derivative spectrophotometric method. The calibration curves were plotted at wavelengths of 578.4 nm and 318.2 nm in the derivative spectrum for Acid Violet 90 and Reactive Yellow 145, respectively. The calculated limit of quantitation value is ~ 2.5 mg/L for Acid Violet 90 and ~ 1.5 mg/L for Reactive Yellow 145. The achieved mean recovery percentage values are around 100%. The highest removal efficiency (100%) was obtained for both dyes at pH 4 using 0.25 g biomass and 50 mg/L of each dye in 60 min reaction time with 150 rpm shaking speed. The hydrochloric acid solution was used for biomass regeneration, and the removal efficiencies remained at 99% and 89% for Acid Violet 90 and Reactive Yellow 145 in the third cycle. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of various prediction models in estimating the growth and morphological traits of pure Hair, Alpine × Hair F1 (AHF1), and Saanen × Hair F1 (SHF1) hybrid offspring at yearling age by employing early body measurement records from birth till 9th month combined with meteorological data, in an extensive natural pasture-based system. The study also included other factors such as sex, farm, doe and buck IDs, birth type, gestation length, age of the doe at birth etc. For this purpose, seven different machine learning algorithms—linear regression, artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machines (SVM), decision tree, random forest, extra gradient boosting (XGB) and ExtraTree – were applied to the data coming from 1530 goat offspring in Türkiye. Early predictions of growth and morphological traits at yearling age; such as live weight (LW), body length (BL), wither height (WH), rump height (RH), rump width (RW), leg circumference (LC), shinbone girth (SG), chest width (CW), chest girth (CG) and chest depth (CD) were performed by using birth date measurements only, up to month-3, month-6 and month-9 records. Satisfactory predictive performances were achieved once the records after 6th month were used. In extensive natural pasture-based systems, this approach may serve as an effective indirect selection method for breeders. Using month-9 records, the predictions were improved, where LW and BL were found with the highest performance in terms of coefficient of determination (R2 score of 0.81 ± 0.00) by ExtraTree. As one of the rarely applied machine learning models in animal studies, we have shown the capacity of this algorithm. Overall, the current study offers utilization of the meteorological data combined with animal records by machine learning models as an alternative decision-making tool for goat farming. This study investigated the mechanical properties of a low-plasticity clay soil reinforced with polypropylene (PP) fiber in various contents (0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15%, and 0.20%) and lengths (6, 12, and 19 mm). The reinforced specimens were subjected to unconsolidated-undrained (UU) triaxial compression tests under three different confining pressures (50, 100, and 200 kPa). The optimum fiber contents in specimens reinforced with 6-, 12-, and 19-mm PP fiber were determined as 0.15%, 0.15%, and 0.20%, respectively. As a result, the highest values regarding deviator stress at failure (σdev), energy absorption capacity (EAC), and shear strength parameters occurred in specimens containing 0.20% PP (19 mm). As a result of the reinforcement process, the most remarkable improvements in the σdev, cohesion, internal friction angle, and EAC values of the natural soil are 59.95%, 21.80%, 63%, and 34.70%, respectively. Linear and nonlinear relationships between σdev and fiber length, fiber content, and confining pressure were investigated by multiple linear regression and artificial neural network methods. Metallic nanoparticles created by ecologically friendly synthesis processes are becoming increasingly useful in a variety of applications. Because of their strong bioactive component qualities, biocompatible architectures, high stability, and low toxicity, green-produced selenium nanoparticles are particularly significant materials for various medicinal applications. Plants include a wealth of essential phytochemicals with therapeutic and medical capabilities. Pistachio vera L. (Siirt pistachio) is a seasonal fruit that is frequently consumed for its nutritional worth and health advantages. However, the outer colored skin of the P. vera (Siirt pistachio) fruit, which is not consumed, contains many biologically active compounds. In this study, plant-mediated synthesis of selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) was successfully accomplished after adding the sodium selenite solution to the aqueous extract of P. vera colored skin waste. The synthesized Se NPs were characterized with UV–Vis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta distribution, atomic force microscope (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDX). Biogenic Pistacia vera (PV) PV-SeNPs were also tested for their ability to suppress the development of various pathogenic bacteria and cancerous cell lines. The UV-visible (UV–Vis) spectra revealed an absorption peak at 325 nm, which reflected the surface plasmon band. The significant selenium signal on the EDX spectrum at 1.5 keV confirmed the creation of Se NPs. The presence of several peaks on the FTIR spectrum of the aqueous extract of Pv and the nanoparticles indicated the presence of some important functional groups such as amines, carbonyl compounds, and phenols, which are important in facilitating the process of capping and bioreduction, as well as conferring stability to nanoparticles. The TEM microphotographs revealed that the nanoparticles were highly distributed, had a spherical morphological form, and were monodisperse below 10 nm. Biogenic Pv-SeNPs exhibited similar antimicrobial activity as standard antibiotics. However, it was determined that the cytotoxic activity of Se-NPs against cancer cell lines was quite high depending on the dose and time. As a result, the Pv-SeNPs are likely to be extremely beneficial in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors, as well as in the food and cosmetic industries, in producing antimicrobial and/or anticancer medications. The aim of this study was to analyze the pregnancy process, especially the Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) disease course and attack types during pregnancy, and to examine the relationship between disease-related factors and female infertility in FMF patients. The study, which was planned in a multicenter national network, included 643 female patients. 435 female patients who had regular sexual intercourse were questioned in terms of infertility. Pregnancy and delivery history, FMF disease severity and course during pregnancy were evaluated. The relationship between demographic and clinical findings, disease severity, genetic analysis results and infertility was investigated. 401 patients had at least 1 pregnancy and 34 patients were diagnosed with infertility. 154 patients had an attack during pregnancy. 61.6% of them reported that attacks during pregnancy were similar to those when they were not pregnant. The most common attack symptoms were fever, fatigue and abdominal pain-peritonitis (96%, 87%, and 83%, respectively) in the pregnancy period. The disease-onset age, disease activity score, gene mutation analyses, and regular colchicine use (> 90%) were similar between the fertile and infertile groups, while the frequency of previous appendectomy and alcohol consumption rates were higher in individuals with infertility. Our results indicated no significant change in the frequency and severity of attacks during pregnancy. The low rate of infertility (7.8%) in our patients was noted. Introduction: This article attempts to provide a comprehensive review of the learning objectives and importance of the supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) technique. Material method: We retrospectively reviewed the cases of Supine PCNL between January 2018 and January 2024. We divided the groups into 3: residents between 2 and 3 years (Group 1), residents between 4 and 5 years (Group 2), and endourologist (Group 3). The 2–3-year resident started to perform PCNL for the first time, while the 4–5-year resident started to perform Supine PCNL for the first time while previously performing prone PCNL. Results: Access, fluoroscopy, and operation time were higher in Group 1, shorter in Group 2, and shortest in Group 3 (p < 0.001). Postoperative length of stay and the need for additional treatment were found to be shorter (p < 0.001), and the stone-free rate (SFR) increased (p < 0.001) from Group 1 to Group 3. The highest complication rates were observed in Group 1 (p = 0.002). SFR rate increased as the number of cases increased in Group 1 patients. Success was stable after 46–60 cases in terms of SFR. In Group 2, the SFR rate was stable after 31–45. cases. The most complications were observed in Group 1 and the least in Group 3. Conclusion: In 2-3-year residents, access time and fluoroscopy time decrease with experience. In 4-5-year residents, due to their expertise in prone PCNL, the operation time and fluoroscopy time decrease with the number of cases performed. In this study, we discuss the evolution of the high-energy era of the universe in the background of f(Q) gravity. For this purpose, the constant-roll condition is considered in the early universe dynamics. After the unified solution of the field equations, the early universe era is analyzed through model parameters in the framework of the constant-roll inflationary field. Along with it is compatible with the observation data, it has been determined that the universe evolved from the initial quasi-de Sitter vacuum state to a quintessence vacuum within the framework of observational data. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the efficacy of different activation techniques in removing calcium hydroxide (Ultracal XS), Ledermix, and Bio-C Temp from simulated internal root resorption (IRR) cavities. Materials and methods: 108 single-rooted maxillary incisors were prepared using Reciproc R50 files. Simulated IRR cavities, 2 mm in diameter and located 8 mm from the apex, were created. Ultracal XS, Ledermix, and Bio-C Temp were applied to the samples, grouped by irrigation activation techniques: Standard Needle Irrigation (SNI), EDDY, Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation (PUI), and XP-endo Finisher (XPF). Medicament removal efficacy was evaluated using a standardized scoring system. Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: XPF and PUI were more effective than SNI in medicament removal across the groups, with no significant difference. EDDY showed no significant difference than other groups. Ledermix was more effectively removed in all activation groups compared to Bio-C Temp. The XPF was superior in removing Ultracal XS compared to Bio-C Temp. However, none of the groups achieved complete medicament removal. Conclusions: XPF and PUI techniques enhance medicament removal efficacy. Bio-C Temp was more difficult to remove from the IRR cavities than other medicaments. Clinical relevance: Bio-C Temp could be removed from the canals less effectively compared to calcium hydroxide and Ledermix. Objective: This study investigates the impact of both maternal psychopathological factors and adaptive psychological changes within the couple on fetal growth, emphasizing the importance of evaluating pregnancy from the perspectives of the couple, the mother, and the fetus collectively. A "couple" in this context refers to heterosexual partners engaged in the pregnancy process together, whether married or in a stable relationship. Methods: We included 189 pregnant women in their first trimester, tracking maternal depression, anxiety, body appreciation, prenatal attachment, and the couple's adjustment level across each trimester. Fetal growth parameters measured include biparietal diameter, femur length, humerus length, abdomen circumference, head circumference, β-HCG, and amniotic fluid levels, with relationships between these variables being modeled accordingly. Results: Our findings indicate stable levels of maternal depression, anxiety, body appreciation, and couple's adjustment throughout the pregnancy, with a significant increase in prenatal attachment levels in each subsequent trimester. Prenatal attachment in the first trimester and maternal depression levels in the second and third trimesters were found to directly influence fetal growth, while other variables exhibited indirect effects. Conclusions: Fetal growth is influenced by a myriad of biopsychosocial factors. Ensuring healthy pregnancy and fetal development necessitates close monitoring and support of the mother's adaptive psychological changes, early identification and treatment of potential psychopathologies, and maintenance of the psychosocial health of the couple. Significance: Although there are studies on the effects of maternal psychopathology on fetal growth, there are few studies that study the effects of adaptive psychological changes during pregnancy and the couple's relationship on fetal growth together with maternal psychopathology. With this study, it was understood that there was only a change in the prenatal attachment levels of the mother during pregnancy, there was no significant change in anxiety, depression, body appreciation and dyadic adjustment, but the mutual interactions of these factors during each trimester had important effects on fetal growth. For a healthy pregnancy and healthy fetal development, it is necessary to closely monitor and support the adaptive psychological changes of the mother, early recognition and appropriate treatment of possible psychopathologies, and the psychosocial health of the couple. This study presented the first light curve analysis of the OP Boo and V0511 Cam binary stars, which was conducted in the frame of the Binary Systems of South and North (BSN) Project. Photometric ground-based observations were conducted with standard filters at two observatories in the Czech Republic. We computed a new ephemeris for each of the systems using our extracted times of minima, TESS data, and additional literature. Linear fits for O-C diagrams of both systems were considered using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. The light curves were analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (WD) binary code combined with the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The light curve solutions of both target systems required a cold starspot. The absolute parameters of the systems were calculated by using a P – M parameter relationship. The positions of the systems were also depicted on the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR), P - L, logMtot - logJ0, and T - M diagrams. The hotter component in both systems is determined to be a more massive star. Therefore, it can be concluded that both systems are W-type contact binary systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Despite several factors that may have been associated with poor disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), only a few studies have evaluated the prognostic factors affecting DFS in MTC patients. Therefore, this study evaluated the prognostic factors affecting DFS, in a large number of patients with MTC. Methods: Patients treated for MTC were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were stratified as having persistent/recurrent disease and no evidence of disease (NOD) at the last follow-up. The factors affecting DFS after the initial therapy and during the follow-up period were investigated. Results: This study comprised 257 patients [females 160 (62.3%), hereditary disease 48 (18.7%), with a mean follow-up time of 66.8 ± 48.5 months]. Persistent/recurrent disease and NOD were observed in 131 (51%) and 126 (49%) patients, respectively. In multivariate analysis, age > 55 (HR: 1.65, p = 0.033), distant metastasis (HR: 2.41, p = 0.035), CTN doubling time (HR: 2.7, p = 0.031), and stage III vs. stage II disease (HR 3.02, p = 0.048) were independent predictors of persistent/recurrent disease. Although 9 (8%) patients with an excellent response after the initial therapy experienced a structural recurrence, the absence of an excellent response was the strongest predictor of persistent/recurrent disease (HR: 5.74, p < 0.001). Conclusions: The absence of an excellent response after initial therapy is the strongest predictor of a worse DFS. However, a significant proportion of patients who achieve an excellent response could experience a structural recurrence. Background: Bladder cancer treatment decisions hinge on detecting muscle invasion. The 2018 "Vesical Imaging Reporting and Data System" (VI-RADS) standardizes multiparametric MRI (mp-MRI) use. Radiomics, an analysis framework, provides more insightful information than conventional methods. Purpose: To determine how well MIBC (Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer) and NMIBC (Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer) can be distinguished using mp-MRI radiomics features. Methods: We conducted a study with 73 bladder cancer patients diagnosed pathologically, who underwent preoperative mp-MRI from January 2020 to July 2022. Utilizing 3D Slicer (version 4.8.1) and Pyradiomics, we manually extracted radiomic features from apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps created from diffusion-weighted imaging. The LASSO approach identified optimal features, and we addressed sample imbalance using SMOTE. We developed a classification model using textural features alone or combined with VI-RADS, employing a random forest classifier with 10-fold cross-validation. Diagnostic performance was assessed using the area under the ROC curve analysis. Results: Among 73 patients (63 men, 10 women; median age: 63 years), 41 had muscle-invasive and 32 had superficial bladder cancer. Muscle invasion was observed in 25 of 41 patients with VI-RADS 4 and 5 scores and 12 of 32 patients with VI-RADS 1, 2, and 3 scores (accuracy: 77.5%, sensitivity: 67.7%, specificity: 88.8%). The combined VI-RADS score and radiomics model (AUC = 0.92 ± 0.12) outperformed the single radiomics model using ADC MRI (AUC = 0.83 ± 0.22 with 10-fold cross-validation) in this dataset. Ixodes algericusn. sp. (Acari: Ixodidae) is described based on females, nymphs and larvae ex rodents (Rodentia: Muridae) from Algeria. Females of this new species possess a unique set of morphological characters allowing identification of this species from any other Ixodes Latreille, 1795 species. These characters include the lack of genital apron, length of auriculae, development of syncoxae and length of spurs on coxa I. The nymph and larva of I. algericusn. sp. can be distinguished from the potentially sympatric Ixodes s. str. species by the shape of the scutum, number of alloscutal setae, length of auriculae and shape of the hypostome. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of hydronephrosis on operation success and the development of complications in supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL). Methods: A total 259 patients were included in the study who underwent supine PCNL in our clinic between September 2019 and November 2023. The patients were divided into four groups: normal, mild, moderate and severe, according to their preoperative hydronephrosis degrees. Demographic data, kidney stone characteristics, clinical aspects, surgical findings, and postoperative complications were compared across groups. Results: In terms of American Society of Anesthesiologists score, stone-free rate, operation time, fluoroscopy time, and Clavien–Dindo classification grades, a statistically significant difference was found between the hydronephrosis groups. The stone-free rate in the normal, mild, moderate, and severe groups was 86.6, 82.5, 76.0, and 61.5, respectively. The severe hydronephrosis group varied statistically substantially from the other hydronephrosis groups in terms of stone-free rate, according to the post-hoc analysis. In terms of Clavien–Dindo classification grades, the severe hydronephrosis group varied statistically significantly from the normal and mild hydronephrosis groups (p values 0.04, 0.02, respectively). In terms of Clavien–Dindo classification grades, no statistically significant difference was seen between the severe and moderate hydronephrosis groups (p = 0.085). Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that the existence of hydronephrosis was a predictive factor for the occurrence of complications and decreased the success rate of supine PCNL. The current study aimed to investigate the biosorption of rhodamine B from aqueous solution using an almond shell as an agricultural solid waste biosorbent. The almond shell biosorbent was characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and point of zero charge (pHPZC) analyses. The parameters that influence the biosorption process such as contact time, initial dye concentration, biosorbent dose, temperature, and pH were investigated. According to the correlation coefficient, the data were best outlined by the Langmuir isotherm with adsorption capacity of 14.70 mg g−1. The adsorption energy found from the D-R model showed that the adsorption process is chemical. The kinetic data were described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic and intraparticle diffusion kinetic models. Thermodynamic parameters were calculated; it was seen that the biosorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. The density functional theory (DFT) calculation results are well-matched with those discovered through experimentation. Underwater environment is potentially rich for scientific research and explorations, but it is challenging to capture the image of the underwater environment due to light absorption and scattering effects of water. In this research, white balance algorithm is employed to recover the lost color information and multiscale image fusion is applied to the features of gamma corrected and sharpened image for dehazing the underwater image and improve the contrast. This paper proposes an approach that enhances color correction with Histogram Equalization and applies Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization to sharpened image to further improve the details of the underwater image. The UIEB and two widely used underwater image datasets are used which include underwater scenery with fish, coral reefs, divers, underwater structures and shipwrecks. The application of the multiscale image fusion with proposed algorithm achieves to balance the distorted colors of underwater image and enhances fine details and contrast to improve image quality. Comparison of the proposed method with the state-of-the-art based on eight performance metrics demonstrates that the proposed method results are encouraging and comparable with the state-of-the-art. This study uses artificial neural networks (ANNs) to examine the intricate relationship between air pollutants, meteorological factors, and respiratory disorders. The study investigates the correlation between hospital admissions for respiratory diseases and the levels of PM10 and SO2 pollutants, as well as local meteorological conditions, using data from 2017 to 2019. The objective of this study is to clarify the impact of air pollution on the well-being of the general population, specifically focusing on respiratory ailments. An ANN called a multilayer perceptron (MLP) was used. The network was trained using the Levenberg–Marquardt (LM) backpropagation algorithm. The data revealed a substantial increase in hospital admissions for upper respiratory tract diseases, amounting to a total of 11,746 cases. There were clear seasonal fluctuations, with fall having the highest number of cases of bronchitis (N = 181), sinusitis (N = 83), and upper respiratory infections (N = 194). The study also found demographic differences, with females and people aged 18 to 65 years having greater admission rates. The performance of the ANN model, measured using R2 values, demonstrated a high level of predictive accuracy. Specifically, the R2 value was 0.91675 during training, 0.99182 during testing, and 0.95287 for validating the prediction of asthma. The comparative analysis revealed that the ANN-MLP model provided the most optimal result. The results emphasize the effectiveness of ANNs in representing the complex relationships between air quality, climatic conditions, and respiratory health. The cardinal phenotypic hallmarks of Marfan syndrome (MFS) include cardiac, ocular, and skeletal abnormalities. Since the clinical phenotype of MFS is highly heterogeneous, with certain symptoms appearing as children age, the diagnostic process and establishing a genotype-phenotype association in childhood MFS can be challenging. The lack of sufficient childhood studies also makes it difficult to interpret the subject. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between clinical symptoms used as diagnostic criteria and FBN1 variations in children with MFS. This study investigated the relationships between genotypes and phenotypes in 131 children suspected of having Marfan syndrome (MFS). Diagnosis of MFS was made according to the revised Ghent nosology. FBN1 variants were categorized based on exon regions, type of variant, and pathogenicity classes. These FBN1 variants were then correlated with the clinical manifestations including cardiovascular, ocular, facial, and skeletal abnormalities. Out of the children, 43 were diagnosed with MFS. FBN1 variant was identified in 32 (74.4%) of the MFS children. MFS diagnosis could not be made in five (15.6%) FBN1 variant-positive children. The most common cardinal finding is cardiac anomalies n = 38 (88.3%). The most common FBN1 pathogenic variant was c.1786 T > C/p.Cys596Arg n = 4 (12.5%). The distribution of pathogenic variants was as follows: 29 (90.6%) missense, 2 (6.3%) frameshift, and 1 (3.1%) nonsense. The numbers of AD and EL of the variant-positive children were 16 (50%) and 14 (43.7%), respectively. Ocular abnormalities were more common in children with FBN1-positive MFS (p = 0.009). There was no difference in the number of cardiac abnormalities between FBN1-positive and FBN1-negative MFS patients (p = 0.139). Conclusion: This study examines the relationship between FBN1 variants and clinical features used as diagnostic criteria in MFS children. The findings emphasize the importance of long-term monitoring of heterogeneous clinical phenotypes and bioinformatic reanalysis in determining the genotype-phenotype relationship in children, as MFS symptoms can vary with age. In addition to research related to static eccentricity and dynamic eccentricity examining fault and diagnostic methods in various types of motors, there are also studies conducted for motors with non-uniform air gaps similar to the condition. In these studies, improvements and changes in motor performance for such types of motors can be observed. In this study, the effects of the rotor structures determined in the study and the air gap shape, which is effective by changing the eccentricity ratio, on the motor performance of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor designed for electric vehicle applications are examined. Besides the elliptical rotor structure, which is widely researched in dynamic eccentricity studies, these eccentric motor structures also include novel rectangular and polygonal eccentric rotor structures. Motor models with non-uniform air gap structures are designed in two dimensions and subjected to simulation and analysis studies using the finite element method. At the end of the study, along with the parameters identified for motor performance, the harmonic components of the stator current, radial air gap flux density and the output torque obtained through Fast Fourier Transform analysis have been provided. Hyperactivity mediated by synaptotoxic β-amyloid (Aβ) oligomers is one of the earliest forms of neuronal dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease. In the search for a preventive treatment strategy, we tested the effect of scavenging Aβ peptides before Aβ plaque formation. Using in vivo two-photon calcium imaging and SF-iGluSnFR-based glutamate imaging in hippocampal slices, we demonstrate that an Aβ binding anticalin protein (Aβ-anticalin) can suppress early neuronal hyperactivity and synaptic glutamate accumulation in the APP23xPS45 mouse model of β-amyloidosis. Our results suggest that the sole targeting of Aβ monomers is sufficient for the hyperactivity-suppressing effect of the Aβ-anticalin at early disease stages. Biochemical and neurophysiological analyses indicate that the Aβ-anticalin-dependent depletion of naturally secreted Aβ monomers interrupts their aggregation to neurotoxic oligomers and, thereby, reverses early neuronal and synaptic dysfunctions. Climate is defined by the average of meteorological events observed over an extended period in a region, expressing the weather conditions of that area. Numerous scientists have developed various climate classifications. The fundamental purpose of these classifications is to distinguish different types of climates and thereby reveal similarities between regions. Such classifications can be based on factors like temperature and precipitation patterns. Understanding climate characteristics enables us to determine the boundaries of different climate types. This, in turn, is crucial for ensuring the sustainable use of regional resources and shaping land use plans. This study evaluates the process of creating climate boundary maps for Muğla province. Various climate classification methods, including Thornthwaite, Trewartha, Erinç, De Martonne, Köppen─Geiger, and Köppen, are comprehensively examined and compared. Our findings indicate that each method offers different approaches to defining Muğla's climate, each with its unique advantages and limitations. For instance, while the Thornthwaite method provides detailed data, the Köppen─Geiger method offers a more generalized approach. The results suggest that combining various climate classification methods helps in more accurately and comprehensively mapping the climate boundaries of Muğla province. The extensive use of high-throughput sequencing (HTS) has significantly advanced and transformed our comprehension of virus diversity, especially in intricate settings like soil and biological specimens. In this study, we delved into mycovirus sequence surveys within mycorrhizal fungus species Terfezia claveryi, through employing HTS with total double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) extracts. Our findings revealed the presence of four distinct members from the Alsuviricetes class, one flexivirus designated as Terfezia claveryi flexivirus 1 (TcFV1) and three endornaviruses (TcEV1, TcEV2, and TcEV3) in two different T. claveryi isolates. TcFV1, a member of the order Tymovirales, exhibits a unique genome structure and sequence features. Through in-depth analyses, we found that it shares sequence similarities with other deltaflexiviruses and challenges existing Deltaflexiviridae classification. The discovery of TcFV1 adds to the genomic plasticity of mycoviruses within the Tymovirales order, shedding light on their evolutionary adaptations. Additionally, the three newly discovered endornaviruses (TcEV1, TcEV2, and TcEV3) in T. claveryi exhibited limited sequence similarities with other endornaviruses and distinctive features, including conserved domains like DEAD-like helicase, ATPases Associated with Diverse Cellular Activities (AAA ATPase), and RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), indicating their classification as members of new species within the Alphaendornavirus genus. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the importance of exploring viral diversity in uncultivated fungi, bridging knowledge gaps in mycovirus ecology. Nowadays, commercial natural fibers cannot meet the increasing industrial demand. In order to meet this demand, recommending a new natural fiber for the composites industry is very important. In this paper, Carex panicea fibers were characterized for the first time and introduced as a potential natural fiber. Physical, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and morphological properties of the Carex panicea fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Carex panicea fibers consist of 65.70% cellulose and 27.8% hemicellulose content. The density and crystallinity index of the fiber were found as 1.247 g/cm3 and 56.42%, respectively. Tensile strength and Young's modulus of fibers were determined as 143 ± 41 MPa and 5.5 ± 1.86 GPa, respectively. Carex panicea fibers are thermally stable up to 219.4 °C. Carex panicea fibers are potential bio-degradable reinforcement material for light-weight polymeric composites with relatively enhanced mechanical properties and decomposition temperature. Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess whether variances in Achilles tendon elongation are linked to dissimilarities in the plantar pressure distribution following two different surgical approaches for an Achilles tendon rupture (ATR). Methods: All patients who were treated with open or minimally invasive surgical repair (MIS) and were over 2 years post their ATR were eligible for inclusion. A total of 65 patients with an average age of 43 ± 11 years were included in the study. Thirty‐five patients were treated with open repair, and 30 patients were treated with MIS. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and ATR Score (ATRS). Achilles tendon elongation was measured using axial and sagittal magnetic resonance imaging scans. Plantar pressure measurements for the forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot during gait were divided into percentages based on total pressure, measured in g/cm2 for each area. Results: The average AOFAS score was found 'excellent' (93 ± 2.8) in the MIS group, while it was found 'good' (87.4 ± 5.6) in the open repair group. In addition, the MIS group showed significantly superior ATRS scores (78.8 ± 7.4) compared to the open repair group (56.4 ± 15.4) (p < 0.001). The average tendon elongation in the MIS group was 11.3 ± 2 mm, while it was 17.3 ± 4.3 mm (p < 0.001) in the open repair group. While the open repair group showed significantly higher plantar pressure distribution in the initial contact and preswing phases compared to uninjured extremities, there was no significant difference between the uninjured extremities and the MIS group. Conclusion: In conclusion, the findings of this study demonstrated that minimally invasive surgery was associated with less tendon elongation, more proximity to the plantar pressure distributions of the uninjured extremity and superior clinical outcomes compared to open surgical repair. Background: The vaginal microbiota plays a significant role in pregnancy outcomes and newborn health. Indeed, the composition and diversity of the vaginal microbiota can vary among different ethnic groups. Our study aimed to investigate the composition of the vaginal microbiome throughout the three trimesters of pregnancy and to identify any potential variations or patterns in the Turkish population compromising mixed ethnicities. Method: We conducted a longitudinal study to characterize the vaginal microbiota of pregnant women. The study included a total of 25 participants, and the samples were collected at each trimester: 11–13 weeks, 20–24 weeks and 28–34 weeks gestation. Results: Lactobacillus species were consistently found to be dominant in the vaginal microbiota throughout all trimesters of pregnancy. Among Lactobacillus species, L. crispatus had the highest abundance in all trimesters (40.6%, 40.8% and 44.4%, respectively). L. iners was the second most prevalent species (28.5%, 31% and 25.04, respectively). Our findings reveal that the dominant composition of the vaginal microbiota aligns with the CST-type I, commonly observed in the European population. Conclusions: This suggests that there are shared mechanisms influencing the microbial communities in the vagina, which are likely influenced by factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and cultural behaviors rather than ethnicity alone. The complex interplay of these factors contributes to the establishment and maintenance of the vaginal microbiota during pregnancy. In this study, an effective and inexpensive PAA-CG composite was synthesized using polyacrylamide (PAA) and coffee ground (CG) with the help of the in situ polymerization method. The adsorption efficiency of this new composite was investigated in the removal of Pb(II) ions from an aqueous solution. Characterization was done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and zero charge point analysis. The maximum adsorption capacity of the PAA-CG composite was calculated as 0.622 mol/kg according to the Langmuir isotherm model. From the obtained data, it was determined that the adsorption mechanism is compatible with pseudo-second-order kinetics and intra-particle diffusion model. Objective: This study aimed to investigate that complicated mucoceles of paranasal sinuses and their clinical presentation, complications of relations with size, destructions areas, extension limits in affected patients. Materials and methods: A retrospective review was performed on patients who were diagnosed and treated as paranasal sinus mucoceles at ENT department from 2002 to 2013 years. Patients' demographic data, mucoceles location, symptoms, surgical approach and complications were evaluated. Results: The study group included 9 male and 10 female patients with a mean age of 45,0 years (range, 12–76 years). This case series include fronto-ethmoidal complex (52,6%), followed by frontal (26,3%), maxillary (15,7%) and sphenoid sinus mucoceles (5,2%). Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) was performed on 11 patients (57.8%); endoscopic procedures included marsupialization through an infundibulotomy, associated with an anterior ethmoidectomy and maxillary sinus antrostomy. Four patients (21%) underwent an external surgical procedure. 8 patients (42%) were treated by a combination of both endoscopic and external approaches such as trephination of the anterior wall of the frontal sinus, osteoplastic flap approach, Caldwell-Luc operation, anterior craniotomy and Lynch procedure. Complications occurred only in 2 cases (10.5%). Conclusion: The majority of patients with extensive paranasal sinus mucoceles exhibited ophthalmologic and intracranial symptoms. In the present investigation, thermodynamic/eco/environmental analysis of the relationship between time-dependent particle deposition and thermal-based losses and incident solar radiation intensity on the PV front cover glass during the months with the least precipitation in the city of Samsun (Turkey) was performed. To evaluate the effect of dust accumulation, controlled experiments were carried out where the surface of one set of PV panels was periodically cleaned with water and the other one was left to natural contamination. The results showed that over three months, the difference in energy loss rates between cleaned and uncleaned PV arrays ranged from 2.53% to 8.1%, with the exergy efficiency difference measured at 1.3%–2.44%. According to the energy-based analyzes, August was the most effective month, with cleaned PV arrays reducing CO2 emissions by 401.5 kg and saving $6.02, compared to uncleaned PV arrays which reduced emissions by 362.21 kg and cost $5.43, respectively. Similarly, in the exergy-based evaluation, August was the most efficient month, with cleaned PV arrays decreasing CO2 emissions by 401.5 kg and saving $6.02, compared to uncleaned PV arrays, which dropped CO2 emissions by 362.21 kg and costing $5.43, respectively. While the cleaned surfaces were initially positive, a decrease was observed over time. However, the efficiency of PV decreased with increasing panel temperature. Objective: To evaluate the effects of complete decongestive therapy (CDT) on cancer-related fatigue, sleep quality, and lymphedema-specific quality of life using validated and reliable questionnaires in cancer patients being commendable. Material and methods: This prospective study includes 94 patients who had postmastectomy lymphedema syndrome. The demographic characteristics of the patients were recorded. The participants’ stages of lymphedema (The International Society of Lymphology), Hirai Cancer Fatigue Scale (HCFS) score, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) Global score, lymphedema-specific quality of life questionnaire (LYMQOL-ARM) score, and Global health status were recorded before and after CDT. Results: The mean age of the patients was 58.49 ± 10.96 years. Strong correlations were found between the severity of edema and global health status. There was a significant positive relationship between the HCFS score, PSQI Global score, LYMQOL-ARM score, and CDT. After decongestive physiotherapy, the majority of the lymphedema stages were downstaging (p < 0.05), respectively. There was also a trend toward improvement in general well-being (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Cancer-related fatigue and sleep disturbance can persist for years after surgery in women with breast cancer. This can negatively affect the patient physically, socially and cognitively. Our study, which is the first study to investigate the HCFS score in postmastectomy patients and the relationship between PSQI Global score and CDT. The findings identify the risk factors that affect these outcomes in women with lymphedema and can provide valuable insights for targeted interventions and improved patient care. Purpose: Inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants is associated with an increased risk of stroke, systemic embolism, major bleeding, cardiovascular hospitalization, and death in patients with atrial fibrillation. The main goal of the study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants in real-life settings. Methods: This study was a multicenter, cross-sectional, observational study that included 2004 patients with atrial fibrillation. The study population was recruited from 41 cardiology outpatient clinics between January and May 2021. The main criteria for inappropriate direct oral anticoagulant dosing were defined according to the recommendations of the European Heart Rhythm Association. Results: The median age of the study population was 72 years and 58% were women. Nine-hundred and eighty-seven patients were prescribed rivaroxaban, 658 apixaban, 239 edoxaban, and 120 dabigatran. A total of 498 patients (24.9%) did not receive the appropriate dose of direct oral anticoagulants. In a logistic regression model, advanced age, presence of chronic kidney disease and permanent atrial fibrillation, prescription of reduced doses of direct oral anticoagulants or edoxaban treatment, concomitant use of amiodarone treatment, and non-use of statin treatment were significantly associated with potentially inappropriate dosing of direct oral anticoagulants. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that the prevalence of inappropriate direct oral anticoagulant dosing according to the European Heart Rhythm Association recommendations was 24.9% in patients with atrial fibrillation. This study aimed to investigate the duration of diagnostic delay in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and identify potential contributing factors using a comprehensive, population-based approach. Data were obtained from the Turkish League Against Rheumatism (TLAR)-Network, involving patients who met the CASPAR criteria. Diagnostic delay was defined as time interval from symptom onset to PsA diagnosis, categorized as ≤ 2 years and > 2 years. Temporal trends were assessed by grouping patients based on the year of diagnosis. Various factors including demographics, clinical characteristics, disease activity, quality of life, physical function, disability, fatigue, and well-being were examined. Logistic regression models were used to identify factors associated with diagnostic delay. Among 1,134 PsA patients, mean diagnostic delay was 35.1 months (median: 12). Approximately 39.15% were diagnosed within 3 months, and 67.02% were diagnosed within 24 months. Patients experiencing longer delays had higher scores in Psoriatic Arthritis Quality of Life Questionnaire (PsAQoL), Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-Fatigue), Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI), patient's global assessment (PtGA) and physician's global assessment (PhGA). Diagnostic delay has decreased over time, with median delay falling from 60 to 24 months throughout pre-2010 and 2015–2019 terms. Several factors were identified as significant contributors to delayed diagnosis, including lower levels of education (OR = 2.63), arthritis symptoms preceding skin manifestations (OR = 1.72), low back pain at first visit (OR = 1.60), symptom onset age (OR = 0.96), and psoriasis subtype (OR = 0.25). Timely diagnosis of PsA is crucial for effective management and improved outcomes. Despite recent improvements, about one-third of PsA patients still experience delays exceeding 2 years. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the risk factors for the conversion from laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) to open surgery to achieve partial nephrectomy (PN). Methods: Data from patients who underwent LPN between June 2020 and September 2023 were analyzed retrospectively. Patients in whom the PN procedure could be completed laparoscopically were recorded as the 'Fully Laparoscopic' (FL) group (n = 97), and those converted to open surgery from laparoscopy were recorded as the 'Conversion to Open' (CTO) group (n = 10). The demographic and pathologic variables were compared between groups. Regression analyses were used to define predictor factors, and receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to define the cut-off value of the surgical bleeding volume. Results: Conversion to open surgery was found in 10/107 patients (9.3%). There was no statistical difference between groups in demographic and pathologic variables. Intraoperative blood loss volume, upper pole localized tumor, and posterior localized tumor were found to be statistically higher in the CTO group (p = 0.001, p = 0.001, and p = 0.043, respectively). Furthermore, these factors were only found to be statistically significant predictors of conversion to open surgery in both univariate and multivariate regression analyses. 235 cc was found to be the cut-off value of intraoperative blood loss volume for predicting conversion to open surgery (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Using these predictive factors in clinical practice, treatment planning will lead to the possibility of starting the treatment directly with open surgery instead of minimally invasive options, and it may also provide a chance of being prepared for the possibility of conversion to open surgery peroperatively. We aimed to investigate how factors such as age, education level, planned delivery method and fear of childbirth were affected in pregnant women before and during the pandemic. This cross-sectional study compared a pre-pandemic pregnant group (July 2019 and December 2019) and a pandemic group (November 2020 and May 2021) of patients at Kütahya Health Sciences University Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital. A total of 696 pregnant women in their second trimester were included in the study. All of them were literate and voluntarily agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected with the Wijma delivery expectancy/experience questionnaire (WDEQ-A), and the outpatient doctor asked the questions face-to-face. The mean age of the pregnant women participating in the study was 31.6 ± 6.8 years. While the total Wijma score was 62.1 ± 25.1 in the pre-pandemic group, it was 61.3 ± 26.4 in the pandemic group, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.738). Upon analyzing the fear of childbirth among groups based on education level, no statistically significant differences were observed between the pre-pandemic and pandemic periods within any of the groups. While 25.7% (n = 179) of all participants had a normal fear of childbirth, 22% (n = 153) had a mild fear of childbirth, 27% (n = 188) had a moderate fear of childbirth, and 25.3% (n = 176) had a severe fear of childbirth (Wijma score of 85 and above). When the pre-pandemic and the pandemic period were compared, the fear of childbirth was unchanged in pregnant women at all education levels (p = 0.079, p = 0.957, p = 0.626, p = 0.539, p = 0.202). When comparing fear of childbirth before and after the pandemic, it was found that patients with a high school education level have a significantly higher fear of childbirth. Purpose: The study aimed to investigate whether morphometric variables of the knee can predict isolated meniscal bucket-handle tears and identify the risk factors. Methods: The study included 146 participants with a mean age of 36.547 ± 12.279 years. They included two groups of 73 patients each: one group with isolated meniscal bucket-handle tears and another with no knee injury (control group). Magnetic resonance imaging findings of the participants were retrospectively assessed. A few morphometric variables associated with distal femur, proximal tibia, and cruciate ligaments were measured. Results: Cruciate ligament tensity (CLT), medial femoral condylar height (MFCH), and lateral meniscal bone angle (LMBA) were found to be 12.7 ± 0.3, 30.1 ± 2.5 mm, and 21.2° ± 3.4°, respectively, in patients with meniscal bucket-handle tear, compared with 11.9 ± 0.2, 28.3 ± 2.7 mm, and 26.5° ± 3.7° in the control group, respectively. Based on multivariate Firth's logistic regression analysis, CLT (Odds ratio [OR]: 456.533; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 27.582 to > 999.999), MFCH (OR: 1.603; 95% CI: 1.023–2.513), and LMBA (OR: 0.780; 95% CI: 0.624–0.975) could distinguish between meniscal bucket-handle tears and knees without meniscus tears (p < 0.05). Based on the multicategorical multinominal regression model, CLT (OR: > 999.999; 95% CI: 49.937 to > 999.999) and MFCH (OR: 1.903; 95% CI: 1.005–3.606) were the determinant variables in differentiating medial meniscal bucket-handle tears from knees without meniscus tears (p < 0.05). Purpose: The phenolic composition, antioxidant, antimicrobial activity, enzyme inhibition activity, and cytotoxic activity potentials of the plant Rumex acetosella L. (R. acetosella) were examined in this study. Materials and Methods: The chemical composition of R. acetosella methanol extract was identified by the LC–MS/MS method. The antioxidant activity was tested using β-carotene/linoleic acid, DPPH free radical scavenging, ABTS cation radical scavenging, CUPRAC reducing power, and metal chelating activity methods. The cytotoxic activity was determined by the MTT assay using human ovarian adenocarcinoma (Skov-3), glioblastoma (U87), human dermal fibroblasts (HDF), and human colorectal adenocarcinoma (CaCo-2) cell lines. The antimicrobial activity of methanolic extracts was tested on gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeuriginosa) and gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) using the in vitro minimum inhibition concentration method (MIC). Enzyme inhibition activity of R. acetosella methanol extract was measured spectrophotometrically against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzymes. Results: The findings showed that the major components of the methanol extract content were luteolin-7-O-glucoside (1.599 m/L), polydatin (91,024 m/L), and shikimic acid (0.773 m/L). It was determined that the extract and standard antioxidant (a-tocopherol) results in DPPH•, and ABTS• + tests performed to determine the antioxidant activity were close to each other, and this value was more effective than the standard antioxidant (α-tocopherol) in the CUPRAC test. These results suggested that the plant's antioxidant potential was higher when compared with reference antioxidant compounds. It was determined that the methanol extract of R. acetosella had a weaker effect on the growth of the tested microorganisms than the antibiotics used as standard. The activity of the GST and AChE enzymes was found to be severely inhibited by the methanol extract of R. acetosella. The discovery of the ormycovirus clades, a group of RNA viruses that are phylogenetically distinct from all known Riboviria members and are found in fungi, highlights the value of these tools for the discovery of novel viruses. The aim of this study was to examine viral populations in fungal hosts to gain insights into the diversity, evolution, and classification of these viruses. Here, we report the molecular characterization of a newly discovered ormycovirus, which we have named "Hortiboletus rubellus ormycovirus 1" (HrOMV1), that was found in the ectomycorrhizal fungus Hortiboletus rubellus. The bipartite genome of HrOMV1, whose nucleotide sequence was determined by HTS and RLM-RACE, consists of two RNA segments (RNA1 and RNA2) that exhibit similarity to those of previously studied ormycoviruses in their organization and the proteins they encode. The presence of upstream, in-frame AUG triplets in the 5’ termini of both RNA segments suggests that HrOMV1, like certain other ormycoviruses, employs a non-canonical translation initiation strategy. Phylogenetic analysis showed that HrOMV1 is positioned within the gammaormycovirus clade. Its putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) exhibits sequence similarity to those of other gammaormycovirus members, the most similarity to that of Termitomyces ormycovirus 1, with 33.05% sequence identity. This protein was found to contain conserved motifs that are crucial for RNA replication, including the distinctive GDQ catalytic triad observed in gammaormycovirus RdRps. The results of this study underscore the significance of investigating the ecological role of mycoviruses in mycorrhizal fungi. Gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) have potentially therapeutic properties as they are synthesized via biomolecules as reducing and stabilizing agent(s). The aim of this study is to develop an easy and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of Au NPs using extracts from the Allium cepa (AC) red peel (skin) extract and investigate the antibacterial and antioxidant activity and also inhibitory effects on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymes. UV–Vis peak at ~ 564 nm confirmed the Au NPs absorbance. TEM images revealed the formation of Au NPs with mostly spherical shapes and sizes between 6.08 and 54.20 nm. FTIR analysis confirmed the important biological compounds responsible for the reduction of gold. The strong absorption property of Au NPs was studied by EDX. The produced Au NPs demonstrated significant antibacterial and antifungal activity against the bacterial and fungal strains tested, as well as efficient inhibitory activity against both AChE and BChE enzymes. The highest antimicrobial activities were found against Staphylococcus aureus (0.06° mg/ml) and Candida albicans (0.06° mg/ml). The antioxidant test findings revealed that AC-Au NPs had lesser activity when compared to normal antioxidants. The Au NPs showed excellent inhibitory efficacy against AChE and BChE. In this study, hybrid biodiesel was produced from a mixture of canola oil and tannery waste fat. The hybrid fuel meets the biodiesel fuel standards. Especially, the hybrid fuel cold flow properties were better than the biodiesel obtained from only tannery waste fat. HB10 and HB30 diesel-hybrid biodiesel fuel mixtures were prepared by mixing the biodiesel fuel with 10 and 30% by volume. The biodiesel produced by adding canola oil to the tannery waste fat decreased the cold filter plugging point from 10 to 0 °C compared to the biodiesel obtained only from tannery waste fat. The experiments were carried out with a single-cylinder diesel engine under different loads and speeds. While the highest increase in brake-specific fuel consumption value compared to diesel fuel was realized as 9 and 17% in HB10 and HB30 fuels, respectively, at 1800 rpm and 3 Nm; the highest decrease in brake-thermal efficiency value was realized as 8 and 15% in HB10 and HB30, respectively. It was observed that the start of injection and combustion of hybrid biodiesel blends was earlier than diesel fuel, and the ignition delay values were close to each other for all test fuels. NOx emissions slightly increased as the hybrid biodiesel addition to diesel fuel increased. In addition, the soot emissions of HB10 fuel decreased slightly, while soot emissions of HB30 fuel increased. HB10 fuel reduced soot emissions by 1.7% at 1800 rpm and 9 Nm while reduced by 1.5% at 12 Nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditional methods like biological treatment, flocculation-coagulation, adsorption, and advanced oxidation are commonly employed for textile wastewater treatment, but their sustainability is hindered by issues such as the adverse impact of textile wastewater on microorganisms and the requirement for substantial chemical usage. In response to increasingly stringent legal discharge standards, membrane technologies are emerging as prominent alternatives for effective textile wastewater treatment. The application of photocatalysis as a pretreatment to improve effluent quality and treatment performance has shown effective results in the treatment of textile wastewater by nanofiltration (NF). However, innovative solutions are needed to improve the efficiency of UV photocatalytic reactors. Here, the TiO2/halloysite nanotube (HNT) photocatalyst was shown to completely remove dyes under UV illumination. Two wastewater samples from photocatalytic (PC) pretreatment were treated using innovative NF membranes with different contents. The study examined the impact of PC pretreatment on the flux of wastewater from a textile factory heat recovery tank, which increased from 18.32 to 27.63 L/m2.h. The membranes achieved > 98% removal in COD, while bare membrane achieved 95% removal in conductivity. The addition of s-DADPS as monomer and HNT as nanoparticles to the membranes with different compositions affected the cross-linking in the TFC layer. During the tests conducted on the water extracted from the dyeing tank, the color was completely eliminated without any loss of flux. Additionally, improvements in COD removal were observed. Background: In arteriovenous malformations, endovascular embolization was first used in the 1960s to occlude feeding vessels. In recent years, the success of endovascular treatments has increased. Thus, the use of endovascular therapy in the treatment of arteriovenous malformation has become widespread. Recently, it is the primary treatment method or an adjunctive treatment to surgery. The development of intracranial abscess after endovascular treatment with a liquid embolizing agent has been reported very rarely in the literature. In this article, a case of intracerebral abscess that developed after endovascular treatment with a liquid embolizing agent was presented. Case Presentation: A 24-year-old male patient was admitted to the hospital with the complaints of dizziness and syncope. Arteriovenous malformation was observed in radiological imaging. Endovascular treatment for the AVM was performed. He was admitted to the hospital with similar complaints 2 months after the treatment. An abscess was observed around the AVM in the patient's cranial imaging. Infected materials in the mall were surgically removed, and the abscess was drained. After antibiotic treatment, the patient was discharged with full recovery. Conclusion: Due to the recent popularity of endovascular treatment methods, the incidence of abscess formation after embolization may change in the near future. Purpose: We aimed to examine the superior mesenteric artery in detail by magnetic resonance angiography to provide an alternative to other imaging methods, to reduce the exposure time of patients and physicians to X-rays and the time spent in catheter angiography, to determine the variations, positions, and locations of the celiac trunk, and to provide detailed information for surgeons and interventional radiologists using this method. Methods: The procedures were approved by the Kocaeli University Medical School Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee (10.04.2023, approval number: 2021/51). MR angiography images of 185 patients with abdominal imaging in PACS (Picture Archiving Communication Systems) were retrospectively registered. The level of origin of the superior mesenteric artery according to the vertebral column, angle of origin, distance between the superior mesenteric artery and branches of the abdominal aorta, and branching pattern of the superior mesenteric artery were evaluated. Parameters were evaluated according to gender and age using SPSS version 25. Results: The distance between superior mesenteric artery-inferior mesenteric artery and superior mesenteric artery-aortic bifurcation in males was higher than in females, and the difference was statistically significant. In females and the whole study group, a low, positive and significant relationship was found between age and superior mesenteric artery-sagittal angle. The most common origin site for the superior mesenteric artery, according to the vertebral column was found to be at L1 middle for males and L1 upper for females. The most common superior mesenteric artery branching pattern was classical type in both genders. Conclusion: Individual evaluation of the superior mesenteric artery could reduce the risks during surgical interventions, considering the relationship of the superior mesenteric artery, especially with distally located vessels, and the gender differences for the angle of origin. Furthermore, considering that interventional radiologists choose the catheter according to the angle of origin of the artery during catheter angiography procedures, individual evaluation of patients taking into account gender and age is of utmost importance. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of preoperative single-dose methylprednisolone use on postoperative early pain after retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS). Methods: Patients who had 10–20 mm solitary kidney stones and underwent RIRS procedures were included in this prospective cohort study between February 2022 and May 2023. Patients who were administered methylprednisolone at a dose of 1 mg/kg preoperatively were included in group 1 (n: 31), and the other first 90 patients who met the inclusion criteria and did not receive methylprednisolone before surgery were included in group 2 (n: 90). Demographic data, features of stone, postoperative pain at 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24 hour, the need for analgesics, changes in serum glucose levels, and the prevalence of postoperative fever were compared. Results: Age, sex, stone laterality, localization, size, Hounsfield Unit, modified Satava scores, stone-free status, duration of the RIRS procedure, and duration of the ureteral access sheath were found to be similar between groups. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores at postoperative 1, 6, 12, 18, and 24 h were found to be statistically significantly lower in group 1 (p =.001, p =.001, p =.001, p =.001, and p =.001, respectively). Similarly, postoperative analgesic requirements were found to be significantly lower in group 1 (p =.048) with a similar postoperative fever rate and changes in serum glucose levels between groups. Conclusion: Giving a single dose of methylprednisolone at a dose of 1 mg/kg preoperatively for the RIRS procedure is safe and effective at preventing early pain and the need for analgesics after the RIRS procedure. The stone density (SD) is not the same in all parts of the stone due to the heterogeneous nature of the stone and the shock wave (SW) passes through tissues of many different densities until it reaches the stone. These factors affect the success of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL). We aimed to evaluate the effect of the Variation Coefficient of Stone Density (VCSD) and Renal Cortical Tickness (RCT) on the success of ESWL. Between 2020 and 2023, 510 patients who underwent ESWL were divided into 2 groups treatment success (n:304) and treatment failure (n:206). Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) imaging values of hydronephrosis degree of the kidney, stone location, stone volume (SV), stone-skin distance (SSD), SD, Standard deviation of Stone Density (SDSD), VCSD, RCT, Soft-Tissue Thickness (STT), Muscle Thickness (MT) were analyzed. VCSD value was obtained by dividing SDSD by SD. Along the SW, tissues were divided into three components: kidney (renal cortex), muscle and other soft tissues. RCT, MT and SSD were measured at three different angles (0°, 45°, and 90°) and these 3 lengths were averaged. In univariate analysis, Body Mass Index (BMI), SV, SD, VCSD, SSD, RCT and STT were demonstrated to affect ESWL success. In multivariate analysis, low BMI, SV, SD, RCT and large VCSD were significant independent predictors of ESWL success. Among these parameters, VCSD had the highest prediction accuracy, followed by SD, SV, RCT and BMI, respectively. This study demonstrated that VCSD value and RCT are predictive parameters in determining the treatment of patients with urinary calculi and selecting suitable ESWL candidates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused some traumatic injuries to individuals due to the isolation, loneliness, and uncertainty it has created. Ruminative thoughts and uncertain situations are known to affect trauma. It aimed to evaluate the traumatic effect of the pandemic based on the ruminative thoughts and intolerance of uncertainty in the study. The sample for the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 402 participants. Data were collected by using the questionnaire form, the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Scale (PTSD), the Ruminative Reactions Scale (RRS), and the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS). A positive correlation was discovered between the PTSD mean scores of the study participants and their RRS and IUS scores (p <.05). Furthermore, RRS (β = 0.280) was identified as a variable that primarily affected PTSD (p <.05). It was concluded that both ruminative thoughts and intolerance of uncertainty were predictors of post-traumatic stress disorder in the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the possible effects of the pandemic, it is recommended to reduce the intolerance to uncertainty, to rework the ruminative thought content with appropriate and effective methods, and to create some programs for gaining problem-solving skills. The Eastern Caucasus Mountains in Georgia include products from extensive Miocene volcanic activity that are being unraveled by geological mapping supported by geochronology and geochemistry. This article presents new zircon U–Pb geochronology and whole rock geochemistry of the volcanic ash layers of the intermountain Neogene basin of the Eastern Caucasus. Our investigation in the region demonstrates that these ash layers, whose eruption center(s) have not been identified yet, has age and geochemical characteristics of the Mtkvari (Kura) ignimbrite of the Samtskhe-Javakheti volcanic highland. This study shows that zircons from both formations crystallized at the same time ~ 7.50 Ma ago and have geochemical and morphological similarity. Taken together with the geography of the region (200–300 km from the volcanic source to the sedimentary basins), it is likely that the source of the ash layers was the Upper Miocene volcanic eruptions on the Samtskhe-Javakheti volcanic highlands. Based on the distribution, thickness, and age of the volcanic ash layers and the analysis of the structure and scale of the Mtkvari ignimbrite, the widely distributed ash likely resulted from a Plinian-type eruption in the Samtskhe-Javakheti volcanic highland. These eruptions led to the formation of the large-scale caldera structure (Niala caldera) and the Mtkvari ignimbrite. The inferred caldera extends to the northeastern territory of Türkiye (Turkey), i.e., NE of the Kars Plateau. Ideally, this western portion of the caldera and volcanic highlands can be characterized in the future, and a unified structure model of this volcanic center can be established. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
