Background: Retroperitoneal infantile hemangioma (RIH), a type of primary retroperitoneal tumors, are exceptionally rare in clinical practice. Infantile hemangiomas typically manifest on the skin's surface. RIHs are exceptionally rare and typically small. In adults, these tumors often manifest without specific clinical symptoms or detectable signs for a definitive diagnosis. This case report details a patient diagnosed with RIH. We recommend complete excision of the tumor after a comprehensive evaluation, followed by postoperative pathology, to achieve a conclusive diagnosis. We believe that managing critical retroperitoneal structures and vessels intraoperatively presents a significant challenge for all procedures involving primary retroperitoneal tumors. Case summary: A 47-year-old male was diagnosed with gallstones and underwent surgery 3 months ago at other institution for unexplained nausea and vomiting. Follow-up imaging 2 months after surgery revealed a retroperitoneal mass below the left renal pole. Upon presentation to our hospital, the patient continued to experience intermittent nausea and vomiting, with no other significant symptoms or signs. Considering the patient's 8-year history of hypertension, a paraganglioma was initially suspected. We performed the laparoscopic mass resection after a detailed assessment. However, postoperative pathology revealed it a capillary hemangioma (old term)/infantile hemangioma. Conclusion: RIHs are exceedingly rare benign tumor. The possibility of malignancy should be ruled out, and surgical resection is recommended following a thorough evaluation, with the diagnosis confirmed through pathological examination. In general, natural gas pipes have the highest standard requirements of all pipes. Therefore, it is essential to establish the relationship between microstructure and properties. Two special polyethylene resins in the field were selected and researched in detail. Using the preparative temperature rising elution fractionation (P-TREF) method, both resins were separated across nine fractions. Following that, high temperature gel permeation chromatography (HT-GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (13C-NMR), and successive self-nucleation and annealing (SSA) thermal fractionation were used for analyzing the initial resins and respective fractions. For both samples, the major fractions were eluted between 85 °C and 98 °C. Sample B differed from Sample A in that it had a higher molecular weight, a longer average methylene sequence length (Lw:303.5), and more high-temperature fractions (over 100 °C). Decoding movement information from electroencephalogram to construct brain-computer interface has promising applications. The EEG data during the entire motor imagery (MI) period or movement execution (ME) period is generally decoded, and calculation of numerous information and massive dataset is time-consuming. In order to improve decoding efficiency, the joint topographic maps of the brain activation state of 15 subjects were studied during different periods. The results showed that the activation intensity of the preparation period in the motor imagery experiment was higher than during the exercise period, while during the exercise period, the activation intensity was higher than in the preparation period in the movement execution experiment. Hence, the wavelet neural network was used to decode the six-class movements including elbow flexion/extension, forearm pronation/supination and hand open/close in periods of MI/ME. The experimental results show that the accuracy obtained in the preparation period is the highest in the motor imagery experiment, which is 80.77%. On the other hand, the highest accuracy obtained in the exercise period of the movement execution experiment is 79.26%. It further proves that the optimized period is a key decoding factor to reduce the cost of calculation, and this new decoding method is effective to build a more intelligent brain-computer interface system. Histone variant H2A.Z is found at promoters and regulates transcription. The ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler SRCAP complex (SRCAP-C) promotes the replacement of canonical histone H2A–H2B dimer with H2A.Z–H2B dimer. Here, we determined structures of human SRCAP-C bound to H2A-containing nucleosome at near-atomic resolution. The SRCAP subunit integrates a 6-subunit actin-related protein (ARP) module and an ATPase-containing motor module. The ATPase-associated ARP module encircles half of the nucleosome along the DNA and may restrain net DNA translocation, a unique feature of SRCAP-C. The motor module adopts distinct nucleosome binding modes in the apo (nucleotide-free), ADP-bound, and ADP-BeFx-bound states, suggesting that ATPase-driven movement destabilizes H2A–H2B by unwrapping the entry DNA and pulls H2A–H2B out of nucleosome through the ZNHIT1 subunit. Structure-guided chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing analysis confirmed the requirement of H2A-contacting ZNHIT1 in maintaining H2A.Z occupancy on the genome. Background: Mechanical Ventilation (MV) is an essential mechanism of life support in the clinic. It may also lead to ventilator-induced acute lung injury (VILI) due to local alveolar overstretching and/or repeated alveolar collapse. However, the pathogenesis of VILI is not completely understood, and its occurrence and development may be related to physiological processes such as the inflammatory response, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. Some studies have found that the the apelin/APJ axis is an endogenous antagonistic mechanism activated during acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS), that can counteract the injury response and prevent uncontrolled lung injury. To indicate that apelin-13 plays a protective role in VILI, an animal model of VILI was established in this study to explore whether apelin-13 can alleviate VILI in rats by inhibiting inflammation, apoptosis and oxidative stress. Methods: SD rats were divided into four groups: control, high tidal volume, high tidal volume + normal saline and high tidal volume + apelin-13. After tracheotomy, the rats in control maintained spontaneous breathing, and the other rats were connected to the small animal ventilator for 4 h to establish the rat VILI model. The mRNA expression of apelin was measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR), immunofluorescence and Western blotting(WB) were used to detect the expression level of APJ, and WB was used to detect the expression of the apoptotic proteins Bax and bcl-2. The degree of lung injury was evaluated by pathological staining of lung tissue,W/D ratio, and BALF total protein concentration. The expression of inflammatory factors(IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) in alveolar lavage fluid was measured using ELISA. The activities of MPO and cat and the content of MDA, an oxidative product, in lung tissue were measured to evaluate the degree of oxidative stress in the lung. Results: After treatment with apelin-13, the apelin/APJ axis in the lung tissue of VILI model rats was activated, and the effect was further enhanced. The pathological damage of lung tissue was alleviated, the expression of the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2 and the proapoptotic protein Bax was reversed, and the levels of the inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α levels were all decreased. MPO activity and MDA content decreased, while CAT activity increased. Conclusion: The apelin/apj axis is activated in VILI. Overexpression of apelin-13 further plays a protective role in VILI, mainly by including reducing pathological damage, the inflammatory response, apoptosis and antioxidant stress in lung tissue, thus delaying the occurrence and development of VILI. Elevated Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) levels are often suggestive of cholelithiasis, and previous studies have indicated that GGT is highly expressed in the urinary system. Therefore, we hypothesized that there may be an association between GGT levels and calculus of kidney (CK) incidence. To investigate this potential causal relationship, we employed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Additionally, we analyzed the levels of other liver enzymes, including alanine transaminase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). The relationship between GGT levels and CK incidence was analyzed using two-sample Mendelian randomization. Summary Genome-Wide Association Studies data were utilized for this analysis. 33 single nucleotide polymorphisms known to be associated with GGT levels were employed as instrumental variables. We employed several MR methods including IVW (inverse variance weighting), MR-Egger, weighted median, weighted mode, and MR-PRESSO (Mendelian Randomization Pleiotropy RESidual Sum and Outlier). Furthermore, we conducted tests for horizontal multivariate validity, heterogeneity, and performed leave-one-out analysis to ensure the stability of the results. Overall, several MR methods yielded statistically significant results with a p-value < 0.05. The results from the IVW analysis yielded an odds ratio (OR) of 1.0062 with a 95% confidence interval (CI) of 1.0016–1.0109 (p = 0.0077). Additional MR methods provided supplementary results: MR-Egger (OR 1.0167, 95% CI 1.0070–1.0266, p = 0.0040); weighted median (OR 1.0058, 95% CI 1.0002–1.0115, p = 0.0423); and weighted mode (OR 1.0083, 95% CI 1.0020–1.0146, p- = 0.0188). Sensitivity analyses did not reveal heterogeneity or outliers. Although potential horizontal pleiotropy emerged, we speculate that this could be attributed to inadequate test efficacy. However, subsequent use of MR-PRESSO did not provide evidence of pleiotropy. Our analysis suggests a positive association between elevated GGT levels and CK incidence, indicating an increased risk of CK development. Wide-gap defects repair of Mar-M247 superalloy was investigated by utilizing powder metallurgy. New interlayer alloy with relatively high content of B and Zr was designed based on the isothermal solidification principle. The interlayer alloy is characterized by relative low melting temperature (1100 °C), and the contact angle of interlayer on the Mar-M247 substrate is ~ 70º. Based on the thermodynamic calculation results, the mixture powders with 80 wt% substrate powder and 20 wt% interlayer alloy powder was used as a filler to repair the wide gap with width of 2 mm. After repaired at 1230 °C for 2 h, near-fully dense gap was obtained. MC-type carbides, MB2-type boride, M3B2-type boride and Ni5(Zr,Hf)-type intermetallic were observed in the liquid zone. After post-weld heat treatment, the block borides, chain carbides and eutectic are successfully removed, and the tensile strength of the bonding zone is close to that of the Mar-M247 superalloy. Flexible education is considered the primary function of e-learning, however, empirical evidence during the COVID-19 pandemic has also demonstrated that students may seek emotional comforts in e-learning to alleviate their negative emotions. This study aims to provide a holistic view of the antecedents of college students' e-learning acceptance by integrating social support theory with the technology acceptance model. Specifically, drawing upon social support theory, this study adopted perceived educational support and perceived emotional support as two driving factors and examined their influences on students' continuous intention in e-learning. The model was empirically validated using survey data from 512 college respondents in China during the first wave of the pandemic. Our results suggested that while perceived educational support exerts a major influence on e-learning acceptance, perceived emotional support also has an important role to play. Besides, the analytics results suggested that the two facets of support had different influencing patterns: perceived educational support has a positive and significant relationship with both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, whereas perceived emotional support solely has a significant relationship with perceived ease of use. Additionally, compared with the prior studies, the effect size (β ) between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness is larger in the present study (COVID-19 context). These findings stress the need to better understand the mechanism by which social support influences college students' e-learning acceptance and to make use of various kinds of social supports to enhance perceived ease of use (e.g. human-computer interface), promote perceived usefulness, and ultimately motivate more students' continuance intention in e-learning. The tea plants have been one of the most widely consumed and oldest nonalcoholic beverage crops in the world. Lingyun Baihao tea plants are unique species and widely distribute in Guangxi. It is well known that aroma usually determine the quality of tea. In recent years, molecular identification has been employed in the tea plant at the genetic level. However, the association of aroma loss issues to genetic diversities between wild and cultivated tea plants is not clear. Here, we identified 112,938,224 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and 10,736,211 insertions/deletions (InDels) for the tea plants through the whole genome sequencing technology. Both SNPs and InDels have certain characteristics in the tea genome, which transition in SNPs type distributes wildly comparing with transversion and single base variation has absolute advantage in InDels. These markers demonstrated that DNA polymorphisms and high diversity. Collectively, we confirmed that the loss of aroma might due to genetic differences at the molecular level between wild and cultivated tea plants, which will be valuable resources for further genetic researches of Lingyun Baihao tea plant. Combined application of biochar and organic fertilizer improves soil structure and crop yield but may lead to increased loss of phosphorus (P). To reduce the P loss risk in this case, rice straw biochar (BC) and sheep manure (SM) were modified using polyacrylamide (PAM). The effects of using organic amendments (BC, SM, and PAM-modified organic mixtures) and no amendments (CK) on soil total and colloidal P leaching loss from paddy soils were evaluated through soil column leaching experiments. The soil leachate volume was increased by 8.91% with BC treatment and reduced by 15.3% with SM treatment. The total P leaching loss (973.9 μg kg−1) from the BC-treated soil was higher than that from other treatments (541.4–963.5 μg kg−1). However, there was much more colloidal P loss (480.0 μg kg−1) from SM treatment. The optimal conditions for the preparation of BC and SM modified using polyacrylamide (PSB) for reducing P leaching loss were SM/BC = 4:1, 1% PAM, and 100 °C. Molybdate-unreactive P accounts for 58.61–86.89% of the colloidal P in the soil leachate with organic amendments. PSB reduced colloidal P loss (particularly in 10–220 nm range) by ~ 50% compared with BC and SM treatments. The colloidal P concentration in the leaching solutions was significantly correlated with TOC and susceptible to Fe and Al concentrations. An adequate wide temperature electrolyte for high nickel ternary cathode is urgent to further develop high energy density batteries. Herein, a comprehensive double-salt local high-concentration sulfolane-based electrolyte (DLi) is proposed with specific sheath structure to build stable interface on the LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 (NCM811) cathode at wide operating temperature between −60 and 55 °C. Lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) in combination with high concentration lithium bis-(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI) strengthens the internal interaction between anion and cation in the solvation structure, increasing Li+ transference number of the electrolyte to 0.61. Moreover, the structure and component characteristics of the passive interface layer on NCM811 are modulated, decreasing desolvation energy of Li+ ions, benefiting Li+ transport dynamics especially at low temperature, and also ensuring the interfacial stability at a wide operating temperature range. As a result, the cathode with DLi exhibits excellent high-temperature storage performance and high capacity retention of 80.5% in 100 cycles at 55 °C. Meanwhile, the Li∥NCM811 cells can deliver high discharge capacity of 160.1, 136.1, and 110.3 mAh·g−1 under current density of 0.1 C at −20, −40, and −60 °C, maintaining 84.5%, 71.8%, and 58.2% of the discharge capacity at 30 °C, respectively. Moreover, it enables NCM811 cathode to achieve a reversible capacity of 142.8 mAh·g−1 in 200 cycles at −20 °C and 0.2 C. A rapid and sensitive aptasensor was established for the dual-readout determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) utilizing an electrostatically mediated fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) signal amplification strategy. In the presence of AFB1, the aptamer preferentially bound to AFB1, resulting in the aggregation of bare gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) induced by NaCl, accompanied by a change of AuNP solution from wine-red to purple. This color change was used for colorimetric channel analysis. Then, the positively charged quantum dots were introduced into reaction system and interacted with negatively charged AuNPs, which successfully converted the color signal into a more sensitive fluorescence signal through FRET. The fluorescence quenching efficiency decreased with increasing concentrations of AFB1, and the fluorescence of aptasensor gradually recovered. The variation of fluorescence intensity was employed for fluorometric channel analysis. Under the optimal conditions, the color and fluorescence signals exhibited excellent response to AFB1 concentration within the ranges 10–320 ng·mL−1 and 3–320 ng·mL−1, respectively, and the limit of detection was as low as 7.32 ng·mL−1 and 1.48 ng·mL−1, respectively. The proposed aptasensor exhibited favorable selectivity, good recovery (85.3–113.4% in spiked corn and wheat samples), stable reproducibility (RSD<13.3%), and satisfactory correlation with commercial kits (R2=0.998). The aptasensor developed integrates advantages of modification-free, dual-readout, self-calibration, easy operation, and cost-effectiveness, while providing a simple and universal strategy for rapid and sensitive detection of mycotoxins in foodstuffs. Purpose: The present study aimed to reveal the spatial distribution of soil nutrients in southwest China and to quantitatively evaluate the effect of environmental factors on spatial variability of soil nutrients under different cropping systems. Methods: Semivariogram, random forest (RF), and partial dependence plots (PDP) were applied to investigate the relationships between environmental factors and soil nutrients variability. A total of 142 samples were collected from topsoil under rice and maize cropping systems in southwest China. Results: Soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) in the topsoil of the study area were higher than their corresponding background and geochemical baseline values of China. Semivariogram analysis indicated that SOC and TN have weak spatial dependence, and TP has strong spatial dependence. The soil nutrient contents were predicted well by the RF models. The mean absolute error, root mean square error, and coefficient of determination were 0.14–0.47 g/kg, 0.19–3.67 g/kg, and 0.30–0.46, respectively. For different soil nutrients, the relative importance of environmental variables varied greatly. Cropping system, topographic wetness index (TWI), and slope were critical factors that controlled SOC variability. Cropping system, TWI, and mean annual temperature explained most variation of TN. Soil pH, aspect, and cropping system were dominant factors affecting TP variability. Conclusion: In this study, SOC and TN had weak spatial autocorrelation, while TP had strong spatial autocorrelation. Meanwhile, cropping system and topography had greatly impact on the variability of soil nutrients, which should be considered in formulating agricultural measures in the future. BAF and PBAF are mammalian SWI/SNF family chromatin remodeling complexes that possess multiple histone/DNA-binding subunits and create nucleosome-depleted/free regions for transcription activation. Despite previous structural studies and recent advance of SWI/SNF family complexes, it remains incompletely understood how PBAF-nucleosome complex is organized. Here we determined structure of 13-subunit human PBAF in complex with acetylated nucleosome in ADP-BeF3-bound state. Four PBAF-specific subunits work together with nine BAF/PBAF-shared subunits to generate PBAF-specific modular organization, distinct from that of BAF at various regions. PBAF-nucleosome structure reveals six histone-binding domains and four DNA-binding domains/modules, the majority of which directly bind histone/DNA. This multivalent nucleosome-binding pattern, not observed in previous studies, suggests that PBAF may integrate comprehensive chromatin information to target genomic loci for function. Our study reveals molecular organization of subunits and histone/DNA-binding domains/modules in PBAF-nucleosome complex and provides structural insights into PBAF-mediated nucleosome association complimentary to the recently reported PBAF-nucleosome structure. Introduction: Adult-onset autosomal dominant leukodystrophy (ADLD) is a rare genetic leukoencephalopathy caused by duplication of the lamin B1 gene (LMNB1) or LMNB1 upstream deletions. Neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) is another leukoencephalopathy due to GGC repeat expansion in the 5'-untranslated region of the NOTCH2NLC gene. Here, we report two Chinese ADLD families with neuroimaging and clinical features mimicking NIID.Methods: We conducted detailed medical history inquiry, neurological examinations, and magnetic resonance imaging in the two families. Candidate gene sequencing and whole exome sequencing (WES) with copy number variation analysis were used to screen the genetic variations. The special points on the clinical and neuroimaging findings in the current families and differential diagnosis of ADLD with NIID are discussed.Results: The two families presented with slowly progressive, multiple central nervous system symptoms, including spastic paraplegia, autonomic dysfunction, ataxia, deep sensory loss, and tremor. Clinical phenotypes were consistent within the family. Transient hypoglycemia and transient dilated pupils indicating autonomic dysfunctions were recorded for the first time in ADLD. Brain MRI showed band-like hyperintensities at the cortico-medullary junction on DWI, typical for NIID. Skin biopsy and genetic sequencing of the NOTCH2NCL gene did not support the diagnosis of NIID. Further whole exome sequencing (WES) identified the duplication mutation spanning the entire LMNB1 gene.Conclusions: The novel feature of transient hypoglycemia and dilated pupils broadens the spectrum of autonomic dysfunction in ADLD. Clinical manifestations and neuroimaging of ADLD can mimic NIID. Although ADLD is even rarer than NIID, the differential diagnosis of these two diseases should not be confused. Introduction: Histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, also known as Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, is a rare benign self-limiting inflammatory disease often seen in young adults. The main clinical features are fever with cervical lymphadenopathy. Neurological complications of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease were occasionally reported although the specific pathogenesis was not clear. The condition could be severe when encephalitis coexists.Methods: Here we reported a young case of Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease with subsequent severe autoimmune encephalitis.Results: The symmetric striatal and limbic MRI lesions combined with psycho-cognitive, epileptic symptoms supported encephalitis. Tissue-based immunofluorescence revealed widely cytoplasmic fluorescence in rat cerebellar and hippocampal neurons, which provide evidence for immune-mediated encephalitis. The clinical outcome was satisfactory after immunosuppressive therapy with MRI lesions largely disappeared.Conclusion: The encephalitis complication of Kikuchi disease may be autoimmune and mediated by cytotoxic T cells. Variations in the UBQLN2 gene are associated with a group of diseases with X-linked dominant inheritance and clinical phenotypes of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and/or frontal temporal lobe dementia (FTD). Cases with UBQLN2 variations have been rarely reported worldwide. The reported cases exhibit strong clinical heterogeneity. Here, we report two adult-onset cases with UBQLN2 variations in Han Chinese. Whole exome sequencing revealed the hemizygous P506S (c.1516C > T) and the heterozygous P509S variation (c.1525C > T), both of which were located within the hotspot mutation region. The patient with the P506S variation was a 24-year-old male. The clinical feature was spastic paraplegia without lower motor neuron damage. The patient’s mother was an asymptomatic heterozygote carrier with skewed X-chromosome inactivation. The patient with the P509S variation was a 63-year-old female. Clinical features included ALS and parkinsonism. 18F-fluorodopa PET-CT revealed presynaptic dopaminergic deficits in bilateral posterior putamen. This article is the 13th contribution in the Fungal Diversity Notes series, wherein 125 taxa from four phyla, ten classes, 31 orders, 69 families, 92 genera and three genera incertae sedis are treated, demonstrating worldwide and geographic distribution. Fungal taxa described and illustrated in the present study include three new genera, 69 new species, one new combination, one reference specimen and 51 new records on new hosts and new geographical distributions. Three new genera, Cylindrotorula (Torulaceae), Scolecoleotia (Leotiales genus incertae sedis) and Xenovaginatispora (Lindomycetaceae) are introduced based on distinct phylogenetic lineages and unique morphologies. Species of Radulomyces (Radulomycetaceae, Agaricales) with spines were studied by morphological and molecular methods. Phylogenetic analyses and morphological studies show that Radulomyces paumanokensis is a later synonym of Radulomyces copelandii and that Radulomyces licentii is a distinct taxon. Based on morphologic and molecular data, the new genus Noblesia (Meruliaceae, Polyporales) is proposed to accommodate Sistotrema croceum and Peniophora femsjoeensis. Sarcodontia is emended and restricted to three species with 13 taxa excluded from the genus. For many years, Sarcodontia crocea was based on an erroneous concept of Sistotrema croceum. The correct name for the taxon with striking yellow spines found on Malus and Pyrus in Europe is Sarcodontia setosa; its North American sister species is Sarcodontia amplissima comb. nov. Hydnum sulphureum is a synonym of Sarcodontia uda, and Acia flava is a later synonym of Xylodon quercinus. A catastrophic landslide occurred in Xinmo village, Maoxian County, China, on June 24, 2016. The landslide destroyed the whole village and caused 10 deaths, and 73 people were reported to be missing. In this study, the contributions of historical earthquakes to rock damage and progressive deformation are the main focus. A detailed field investigation revealed that historical earthquakes seriously damaged the rock mass in the source area, and there were five macrocracks in this area before the landslide. The landslide was initiated along the cracks and foliation plane of the phyllite under long-term gravity. The rock damage induced by historical earthquakes was tested by uniaxial cyclic loading tests. The results indicate that the damage in the phyllite induced by earthquakes is significantly greater than that to slate and metamorphic sandstone. Moreover, the static loading after earthquakes can trigger the long-term deformation of phyllite, and it is accelerated with the incremental damage in the phyllite. Finally, catastrophic failure was triggered when the phyllite was in a significantly damaged state. As a result, the joint influence of historical earthquakes and long-term gravity loading contributed to the progressive deformation of the Xinmo landslide. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This is the twelfth contribution to the Fungal Diversity Notes series on fungal taxonomy, based on materials collected from many countries which were examined and described using the methods of morphology, anatomy, and strain culture, combined with DNA sequence analyses. 110 taxa are described and illustrated, including five new genera, 92 new species, eight new combinations and other taxonomic contributions (one new sequenced species, one new host and three new records) which are accommodated in 40 families and 1 incertae sedis in Dothideomycetes. Background: Rice paddy wetlands may serve as a nutrient source or sink in agricultural ecosystems. However, the pattern of nutrient loss on a watershed scale is not clear. A year-round on-site observation study based on 6-h intervals was conducted. Rainfall, temperature, runoff nutrient concentrations, and adjacent stream water samples were automatically monitored to uncover the temporal changes in the runoff losses of the predominant nutrient proxies (total N and total P) from a typical rice-planting area (120 ha) in the Yangtze river delta region of China. Results: A high total N concentration in the rice-planting area was observed during the rice-planting season; however, significant fluctuation in the total P was evident throughout the year. The Δtotal N (drainage minus stream) parameter showed negative values with a mean of −0.25 mg L−1, while Δtotal P showed positive values with a mean of 0.06 mg L−1. The annual average N and P runoff from paddy field were 11.6 kg ha−1 and 1.5 kg ha−1, respectively. The window phases for the total N loss were mainly concentrated in the rice-growing season. However, the window phase for the total P loss was more dispersive throughout the year. No apparent relationships were found between rainfall and N and P concentrations by self-organizing map analysis. Conclusions: The high-resolution monitoring, in this study, suggested that nutrient loss loading rather than nutrient concentration was strongly related to surface runoff Therefore, fertilization before high-intensity rainfall should be avoided to mitigate the nutrient runoff losses and maintain the rice wetland eco-function. Purpose: Laboratory incubation experiments using 15N stable isotope labeling and acetylene suppression techniques were conducted to compare the autotrophic nitrification and heterotrophic nitrification rates with the addition of swine manure (SW) and swine-manure-derived biochar (SWB) in two paddy soils. Materials and methods: SW and SWB were applied at four N-based amendment levels, namely control (0 mg N kg−1), low (1.1 mg N kg−1), medium (2.2 mg N kg−1), and high (4.4 mg N kg−1). Twenty-five milliliters of C2H2 gas were injected into each storage bottle to inhibit autotrophic nitrification in soil. At the end of the preincubation period, 160 mg kg−1 15N-glycine were added to each storage bottle to stimulate heterotrophic nitrification in soil. Results and discussion: Results showed that SW increased the NH4+-N content by 3.5 to 17.5 mg kg−1 in both soils, while SWB decreased it by 0.1 to 4.7 mg kg−1 compared to control group, regardless of whether autotrophic nitrification was inhibited. Both SW and SWB enhanced NO3−-N accumulation in the two soils compared to control group when autotrophic nitrification was not inhibited; however, NO3−-N concentration in the soil with SWB was up to 24% lower than that with the same level of SW addition. NH3 volatilization rates were elevated at all the SW and SWB amendment levels, although only SW led to higher N2O emission rates. Compared with SW, high level of SWB significantly decreased N2O emissions by 78 to 84% in the loam and clay loam soils. The increase in NH3 volatilization, soil NO3−-N accumulation, and autotrophic nitrification rate were greater with SW than with SWB. Higher rates of soil heterotrophic nitrification were observed in SWB-amended soils than in SW-amended soils with a high (4.4 mg N kg−1) amendment level. Conclusions: Our results suggest that SWB is less likely to increase NO3−-N accumulation in soil and contributes more to the lower soil autotrophic nitrification rate compared with SW. Although SWB can promote heterotrophic nitrification, it generally inhibits the autotrophic nitrification process and slows the increment pace of the gross nitrification in paddy soils. With recent availability of COVID-19 vaccine, post-vaccination neurological complications had been occasionally reported. Here, we reported for the first time a case of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) that developed after the first dose of inactivated virus vaccine for COVID-19. The patient developed mild fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and cough after receiving the first dose of inactivated virus vaccine. Two months later, she experienced dizziness and unsteady walking. MRI scanning of the brain revealed lesions in area postrema and bilateral hypothalamus, typical for NMOSD. Serum antibodies for AQP4, ANA, SSA, SSB, Ro-52, and p-ANCA were positive. The patient was diagnosed as AQP4-positive NMOSD with coexisting systemic autoimmunity. After treatment with methylprednisolone (500 mg for 5 days), symptoms were greatly relieved. As NMOSD is seriously harmful and curative, it is important to be aware of the NMOSD symptoms after vaccination. The ternary Co-Al-C system was thermodynamically assessed using the CALPHAD method based on the critical review of all experimental information in the system. The κ-carbide was described with a three-sublattice model (Al,Co)3(Al,Co)1(C,Va)1. To support the assessment, the enthalpies of formation of all end-members of the κ-carbide were studied by ab initio calculations. The solubility ranges of the carbon in the κ-carbide, the αCo and the AlCo (B2) phases were well reproduced. The effects of Ni content (0-2.1wt%) on the cast and solid-solution microstructures of Cu-0.4wt%Be alloys were investigated, and the corresponding mechanisms of influence were analyzed. The results show that the amount of precipitated phase increases in the cast alloys with increasing Ni content. When the Ni content is 0.45wt% or 0.98wt%, needle-like Be21Ni5 phases form in the grains and are mainly distributed in the interdendritic regions. When the Ni content is 1.5wt% or greater, a large number of needle-like precipitates form in the grains and chain-like Be21Ni5 and BeNi precipitates form along the grain boundaries. The addition of Ni can substantially refine the cast and solid-solution microstructures of Cu-0.4wt%Be alloys. The hindering effects of both the dissolution of Ni into the matrix and the formation of Be-Ni precipitates on grain-boundary migration are mainly responsible for refining the cast and solid-solution microstructures of Cu-0.4wt%Be alloys. Higher Ni contents result in finer microstructures; however, given the precipitation characteristics of Be-Ni phases and their dissolution into the matrix during the solid-solution treatment, the upper limit of the Ni content is 1.5wt%-2.1wt%. The equilibrium geometries, electronic structures and electronic properties of PmSi ( n = 3-10) clusters were systematically investigated using the ABCluster global search technique combined with density functional methods. The results revealed that the most stable structure of neutral PmSi and their anions can be viewed as replacing a Si atom of the ground state structure of Si with a Pm atom. The adiabatic electron affinities of PmSi are evaluated, and they differ little from those of SmSi and EuSi. Analyses of HOMO-LUMO gaps showed that introducing Pm atom to Si cluster can significantly improve photochemical reactivity of the cluster. And the improved effects are as good as those of the introducing Sm and Eu atom to Si cluster. The NPA calculations indicated that the 4 f electrons of Pm atom in PmSi ( n = 3-10) clusters hardly participate in bonding and provide the total magnetic moments. Dissociation energy (DE) of rare earth metal (REM) atom from the lowest energy structure of REMSi ( n = 3-10) and their anions was calculated. The DEs of PmSi, SmSi and EuSi are nearly identical. The geometries, electronic structures and properties including simulated photoelectron spectra (PES), adiabatic electron affinities (AEAs), and relative stability of LuSi (n = 3-10) and their anions were investigated adopting the ABCluster global search technique combined with density functional methods. The results revealed that the most stable structures of neutral belong to 'substitutional structure', but not for their anions. The additional electron effects on the most stable structure are intense. The TPSSh AEAs of LuSi ( n = 6-9) agree excellently with the experimental data. The mean absolute error and the largest error are only 0.03 eV and 0.05 eV, respectively. The agreement between the experimental and theoretical PES indicates that the most stable structures of LuSi (n = 6-10) are trustworthy. The DEs and charge transfer are calculated to explain the relative stabilities. HOMO-LUMO gaps reveal that introducing Lu atom to Si ( n = 3-10) raises the photochemical sensitivity. Two new species from northern Thailand, Asterostroma bambusicola and A. vararioides, are described and illustrated. Asterostroma bambusicola is characterized by globose, echinulate, and amyloid basidiospores and growing on rotten bamboo. Asterostroma vararioides is distinguished by the presence of Vararia-like dichohyphae, subglobose, smooth, and amyloid basidiospores and growing on bark of living angiosperm trees. In the phylogenetic tree inferred from a combined dataset of ITS and nLSU sequence data of Peniophoraceae, A. bambusicola forms a distinct lineage in the sect. Asterostroma clade, whereas A. vararioides and A. laxum form the sect. Laevispora clade. Asterostroma andinum, reported from China for the first time, forms a distinct lineage sister to Gloiothele spp. and Scytinostroma portentosum group. In this paper, we provide a phylogenetic overview of Basidiomycota and related phyla in relation to ten years of DNA based phylogenetic studies since the AFTOL publications in 2007. We selected 529 species to address phylogenetic relationships of higher-level taxa using a maximum-likelihood framework and sequence data from six genes traditionally used in fungal molecular systematics (nrLSU, nrSSU, 5.8S, tef1-α, rpb1 and rpb2). These species represent 18 classes, 62 orders, 183 families, and 392 genera from the phyla Basidiomycota (including the newly recognized subphylum Wallemiomycotina) and Entorrhizomycota, and 13 species representing 13 classes of Ascomycota as outgroup taxa. We also conducted a molecular dating analysis based on these six genes for 116 species representing 17 classes and 54 orders of Basidiomycota and Entorrhizomycota. Finally we performed a phyloproteomics analysis from 109 Basidiomycota species and 6 outgroup taxa using amino-acid sequences retrieved from 396 orthologous genes. Recognition of higher taxa follows the criteria in Zhao et al (Fungal Divers 78:239-292, 2016): (i) taxa must be monophyletic and statistically well-supported in molecular dating analyses, (ii) their respective stem ages should be roughly equivalent, and (iii) stem ages of higher taxa must be older than those of lower level taxa. The time-tree indicates that the mean of stem ages of Basidiomycota and Entorrhizomycota are ca. 530 Ma; subphyla of Basidiomycota are 406-490 Ma; most classes are 358-393 Ma for those of Agaricomycotina and 245-356 Ma for those of Pucciniomycotina and Ustilaginomycotina; most orders of those subphyla split 120-290 Ma. Monophyly of most higher-level taxa of Basidiomycota are generally supported, especially those taxa introduced in the recent ten years: phylum Entorrhizomycota, classes Malasseziomycetes, Moniliellomycetes, Spiculogloeomycetes, Tritirachiomycetes and orders Amylocorticiales, Golubeviales, Holtermanniales, Jaapiales, Lepidostromatales, Robbauerales, Stereopsidales and Trichosporonales. However, the younger divergence times of Leucosporidiales ( Microbotryomycetes) indicate that its order status is not supported, thus we propose combining it under Microbotryales. On the other hand, the families Buckleyzymaceae and Sakaguchiaceae ( Cystobasidiomycetes) are raised to Buckleyzymales and Sakaguchiales due to their older divergence times. Cystofilobasidiales ( Tremellomycetes) has an older divergence time and should be amended to a higher rank. We however, do not introduce it as new class here for Cystofilobasidiales, as DNA sequences from these taxa are not from their respective types and thus await further studies. Divergence times for Exobasidiomycetes, Cantharellales, Gomphales and Hysterangiales were obtained based on limited species sequences in molecular dating study. More comprehensive phylogenetic studies on those four taxa are needed in the future because our ML analysis based on wider sampling, shows they are not monophyletic groups. In general, the six-gene phylogenies are in agreement with the phyloproteomics tree except for the placements of Wallemiomycotina, orders Amylocorticiales, Auriculariales, Cantharellales, Geastrales, Sebacinales and Trechisporales from Agaricomycetes. These conflicting placements in the six-gene phylogeny vs the phyloproteomics tree are discussed. This leads to future perspectives for assessing gene orthology and problems in deciphering taxon ranks using divergence times. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 5 (LGR5), a well-characterized marker of stem cell and cancer stem cells (CSCs), is best known as a transmembrance receptor for increases canonical Wnt signaling amplitude. In addition, in some types of human cancers, LGR5 has been found to be overexpressed. However, the distribution and function of LGR5 in spinal cord injury (SCI) are still unknown. In this study, we examined LGR5 expression and cellular localization in rats following acute SCI. Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry exhibited an important upregulation of LGR5 in injury spinal cord. Double immunofluorescence staining showed that LGR5 was co-expressed with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Moreover, we detected that PCNA had colocalization with LGR5 and GFAP after SCI. In the vitro model, we could find the enhanced expression of LGR5 in the primary astrocyte which was induced by the lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In particular, we found the significantly decreased ability for proliferation when this LGR5-specific siRNA transfected primary astrocytes. In a word, this is the first description of LGR5 expression in spinal cord injury. These data indicated that LGR5 might be of great significance in CNS pathophysiology after SCI. The VHL (Von Hippel-Lindau) gene is a tumor suppressor gene, which is best known as an E3 ubiquitin ligase that negatively regulates the hypoxia inducible factor. The inactivation of VHL gene could result in the abnormal synthesis of VHL protein, which is in contact with the development and occurrence of renal clear cell carcinoma. However, the expression and possible function of VHL in central nervous system (CNS) is still unclear. To examine the function of VHL in CNS injury and repair, we used an acute spinal cord injury (SCI) model in adult rats. Western blot analysis showed an important upregulation of VHL protein, reaching a peak at day 3 and then declined during the following days. Double immunofluorescence staining showed that VHL was co-expressed with neurons, but not with astrocytes and microglia. Moreover, we detected that active caspase-3 had co-localized with VHL in neurons after SCI. Additionally in vitro, VHL depletion, by short interfering RNA, significantly reduced neuronal apoptosis. Two new species from Hunan Province in central China, Acanthobasidium bambusicola and Aleurodiscus effusus, are described and illustrated. Both species have effused basidiocarps, clamped generative hyphae, acanthophyses, gloeocystidia, and amyloid, echinulate basidiospores. Acanthobasidium weirii is proposed as a new combination. In addition, Aleurodiscus ljubarskii, A. wakefieldiae, and Neoaleurodiscus fujii are reported from mainland China for the first time. Descriptions and illustrations of these three species are included. A preliminary molecular phylogenetic assessment of 11 species of Aleurodiscus sensu lato in China is presented. Phylogenetic relationships were inferred from analyses of partial DNA sequences of the nuclear large subunit ribosomal RNA (nLSU) and a combined dataset of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, nLSU, and the translation elongation factor 1-α gene sequences ( tef1-α). Profound changes to the taxonomy and classification of polypores have occurred since the advent of molecular phylogenetics in the 1990s. The last major monograph of North American polypores was published by Gilbertson and Ryvarden in 1986-1987. In the intervening 30 years, new species, new combinations, and new records of polypores were reported from North America. As a result, an updated checklist of North American polypores is needed to reflect the polypore diversity in there. We recognize 492 species of polypores from 146 genera in North America. Of these, 232 species are unchanged from Gilbertson and Ryvarden's monograph, and 175 species required name or authority changes. In addition, 40 new species and 45 new records published since that monograph are included in the checklist. Among the 492 species of polypores, 486 species from 143 genera belong to 11 orders, while six other species from three genera have uncertain taxonomic position at the order level. Three orders, viz. Polyporales, Hymenochaetales and Russulales, accommodate most of polypore species (93.7 %) and genera (88.8 %). Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is the second most common and frequent cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women in the world. PIK3CA and PIK3CB that reverse multidrug resistance (MDR) can serve as predictive and prognostic markers as well as therapeutic targets for CRC treatment. In the present study, we showed that PIK3CA and PIK3CB are upregulated in CRCs and positively correlated with MDR-1, LRP, and GST-π. Long-term monitoring of 316 CRC patients showed that PIK3CA and PIK3CB were associated with poor survival time as shown by Kaplan-Meier analysis. Furthermore, we found that the downregulation of PIK3CA and PIK3CB reversed MDR; inhibited the capability of proliferation, migration, and invasion of CRC cells; and slowed down the CRC tumor growth in nude mice. Consistent with clinical observations, PIK3CA and PIK3CB significantly increase multidrug resistance of CRC cells in vivo. An amperometric nitrite sensor modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and poly(toluidine blue) (PTB) on glassy carbon electrode was constructed. The surface morphology of the composite- modified electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and the electrochemical response behavior and electrocatalytic oxidation mechanism of nitrite were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The high surface-to-volume ratio of MWCNTs and PTB brings the electrochemical sensing unit and nitrite in full contact. This renders the electrochemical response extremely sensitive to nitrite. Under the optimal measurement conditions and a working voltage of 0.73 V (vs. SCE), a linear relationship is obtained between the oxidation peak current and nitrite concentration in the range of 39 nM-1.1 mM, and the limit of detection is lowered to 19 nM (at an S/N ratio of 3). A new fungal generic name Hymenochaetopsis is proposed to replace Pseudochaete, which is a nomen illegitimum according to Art. 53.1 in the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants. Twelve new combinations are proposed for species in genera Hymenochaete and Pseudochaete. Hymenochaetopsis laricicola is described and illustrated as a new species from Northeast China based on morphological and molecular evidence. It is characterized by effused-reflexed to pileate basidiocarps, presence of a cortex and hyphal layer, relative small hymenial setae, short cylindrical basidiospores, and exclusive growth on Larix. Hymenochaetopsis gigasetosa, which was previously reported from its type locality only, is newly recorded in China. An identification key is provided for the 13 known species of Hymenochaetopsis. Object tracking under complex circumstances is a challenging task because of background interference, obstacle occlusion, object deformation, etc. Given such conditions, robustly detecting, locating, and analyzing a target through single-feature representation are difficult tasks. Global features, such as color, are widely used in tracking, but may cause the object to drift under complex circumstances. Local features, such as HOG and SIFT, can precisely represent rigid targets, but these features lack the robustness of an object in motion. An effective method is adaptive fusion of multiple features in representing targets. The process of adaptively fusing different features is the key to robust object tracking. This study uses a multi-feature joint descriptor (MFJD) and the distance between joint histograms to measure the similarity between a target and its candidate patches. Color and HOG features are fused as the tracked object of the joint representation. This study also proposes a self-adaptive multi-feature fusion strategy that can adaptively adjust the joint weight of the fused features based on their stability and contrast measure scores. The mean shift process is adopted as the object tracking framework with multi-feature representation. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed MFJD tracking method effectively handles background clutter, partial occlusion by obstacles, scale changes, and deformations. DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modification that is essential for various developmental processes through regulating gene expression, genomic imprinting, and epigenetic inheritance. Mammalian genomic DNA methylation is established during embryogenesis by de novo DNA methyltransferases, DNMT3A and DNMT3B, and the methylation patterns vary with developmental stages and cell types. DNA methyltransferase 3-like protein (DNMT3L) is a catalytically inactive paralogue of DNMT3 enzymes, which stimulates the enzymatic activity of Dnmt3a. Recent studies have established a connection between DNA methylation and histone modifications, and revealed a histone-guided mechanism for the establishment of DNA methylation. The ATRX-DNMT3-DNMT3L (ADD) domain of Dnmt3a recognizes unmethylated histone H3 (H3K4me0). The histone H3 tail stimulates the enzymatic activity of Dnmt3a in vitro, whereas the molecular mechanism remains elusive. Here we show that DNMT3A exists in an autoinhibitory form and that the histone H3 tail stimulates its activity in a DNMT3L-independent manner. We determine the crystal structures of DNMT3A-DNMT3L (autoinhibitory form) and DNMT3A-DNMT3L-H3 (active form) complexes at 3.82 and 2.90 Å resolution, respectively. Structural and biochemical analyses indicate that the ADD domain of DNMT3A interacts with and inhibits enzymatic activity of the catalytic domain (CD) through blocking its DNA-binding affinity. Histone H3 (but not H3K4me3) disrupts ADD-CD interaction, induces a large movement of the ADD domain, and thus releases the autoinhibition of DNMT3A. The finding adds another layer of regulation of DNA methylation to ensure that the enzyme is mainly activated at proper targeting loci when unmethylated H3K4 is present, and strongly supports a negative correlation between H3K4me3 and DNA methylation across the mammalian genome. Our study provides a new insight into an unexpected autoinhibition and histone H3-induced activation of the de novo DNA methyltransferase after its initial genomic positioning. Previous studies have shown that Gloeophyllum s.l. is polyphyletic. We analyzed the combined ITS and nLSU rDNA sequences of most Gloeophyllum s.l. species and other taxa of Gloeophyllales retrieved from open databases. The Gloeophyllum s.s. clade included G. sepiarium, G. abietinum, G. striatum, and G. trabeum. Gloeophyllum imponens that is characterized by a strigose upper surface of basidiocarps and distinctly daedaleoid to lamellate hymenophore formed a single clade, and thus a new genus Hispidaedalea is erected to accommodate it. The genera Griseoporia and Osmoporus are supported. The new species Griseoporia taiwanense is described and illustrated, and the new combination Osmoporus mexicanus is proposed. An optimal group of water surface ratios and pervious surface proportions can reduce the risk of waterlogging in large urbanized riverside areas. In this study, the Storage Capacity Curve Method is proposed to calculate the drainage modulus, the essence of which is based on the assumption that the drainage area is a reservoir; and then draw the storage capacity curve after unsteady flow calculation. A series of drainage modulus is calculated with varying water surface ratio and pervious proportion using the Storage Capacity Curve Method. This is done in order to determine the quantitative relationship among these variables through regression analysis. The results indicate that the drainage modulus of a large urbanized riverside area has a good exponential function relative to the water surface ratio and has a linear relationship with the pervious surface proportion. By using an integrated impacts model and a cost function, the optimal group values of the water surface ratio (6.65 %) and the pervious surface proportion (26.4 %) are obtained by minimizing the cost function. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) polymorphisms and autoimmune thyroid diseases and clinical features. We genotyped six single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs1053005, rs2293152, rs744166, rs17593222, rs2291281, and rs2291282 of STAT3 gene in 667 patients with autoimmune thyroid disease (417 Graves' disease (GD) and 250 Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT)) and 301 healthy controls. The allele A from rs1053005 was significantly less frequent in both GD and HT patients ( P = 0.0024, OR = 0.6958, 95%CI = 0.5508-0.8788; P = 0.0091, OR = 0.7013, 95%CI = 0.5397-0.9112, respectively). The AA genotype of rs1053005 was less in GD and HT patients too ( P = 0.0025,OR = 0.6278, 95%CI = 0.466-0.847) and ( P = 0.0036,OR = 0.601, 95%CI = 0.428-0.843). The allele G from rs17593222 increased the susceptibility to the ophthalmopathy development both in autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) and GD patients ( P = 0.0007, OR = 3.980, 95%CI = 1.871-8.464; P = 0.0081, OR = 3.378, 95%CI = 1.441-7.919, respectively). The allele A and AA genotype of SNP rs1053005 may protect individuals from the susceptibility to AITD and their frequency decreased in AITD patients. In addition, the allele G of rs17593222 may increase the ophthalmopathy risk in AITD patients. Our findings suggest the existence of association between STAT3 gene and AITD, thus adding STAT3 gene to the list of the predisposing genes to AITD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Monoclonal antibodies have become a part of daily preparation technologies in many laboratories. Attempts have been made to apply monoclonal antibodies to open a new train of thought for clinical treatments of autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, cancer, and other immune-associated diseases. This paper is a prospective review to anticipate that monoclonal antibody application in the treatment of myocarditis, an inflammatory disease of the heart, could be a novel approach in the future. In order to better understand the current state of the art in monoclonal antibody techniques and advance applications in myocarditis, we, through a significant amount of literature research both domestic and abroad, developed a systematic elaboration of monoclonal antibodies, pathogenesis of myocarditis, and application of monoclonal antibodies in myocarditis. This paper presents review of the literature of some therapeutic aspects of monoclonal antibodies in myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy to demonstrate the advance of monoclonal antibody application in myocarditis and a strong anticipation that monoclonal antibody application may supply an effective therapeutic approach to relieve the severity of myocarditis in the future. Under conventional therapy, myocarditis is typically associated with congestive heart failure as a progressive outcome, indicating the need for alternative therapeutic strategies to improve long-term results. Reviewing some therapeutic aspects of monoclonal antibodies in myocarditis, we recently found that monoclonal antibodies with high purity and strong specificity can accurately act on target and achieve definite progress in the treatment of viral myocarditis in rat model and may meet the need above. However, several issues remain. The technology on how to make a higher homologous and weak immunogenic humanized or human source antibody and the treatment mechanism of monoclonal antibodies may provide solutions for these open issues. If we are to further stimulate progress in the area of clinical decision support, we must continue to develop and refine our understanding and use of monoclonal antibodies in myocarditis. Veluticeps microspora sp. nov. and V. ambigua new to Asia are described and illustrated based on morphological and molecular characters. V. microspora was collected from Yunnan Province, southwestern China, and is characterized by its special anatomical structure (without tomentum, cutis, and subiculum), simple septate hyphae, and small basidiospores. V. ambigua was collected from Jilin Province, northeastern China, and is reported in Asia for the first time. The molecular phylogeny of Veluticeps was preliminarily studied based on the analysis of ITS sequences from 18 species of Gloeophyllales. Two distinct clades of Veluticeps were formed in the phylogenetic tree. While V. microspora and V. ambigua clustered together to form a strongly supported clade, V. abietina, V. fimbriata, and V. berkeleyi grouped with Chaetodermella luna to form another clade.
