We describe here a new process for the synthesis of very high quality 2D Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), such a C2N and CN carbon nitrides. This process relies on the use of a metallic surface as both a reagent and a support for the coupling of small halogenated building blocks. The conditions of the assembly reaction are chosen so as to leave the inorganic salts by-products on the surface, to further confine the assembly reaction on the surface and increase the quality of the 2D layers. We found that under these conditions, the process directly returns few layers material. The structure/quality of these materials is demonstrated by extensive cross-characterizations at different scales, combining optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)/Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). The availability of such very large, high-quality layers of these materials opens interesting perspectives, for example in photochemistry and electronics (intrinsic transport properties, high gap substrate for graphene, etc...). The chemical diversity of biologically active fungal strains from 42 Colletotrichum, isolated from leaves of the tropical palm species Astrocaryum sciophilum collected in pristine forests of French Guiana, was investigated. The collection was first classified based on protein fingerprints acquired by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) correlated with cytotoxicity. Liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS/MS) data from ethyl acetate extracts were acquired and processed to generate a massive molecular network (MN) using the MetGem software. From five Colletotrichum strains producing cytotoxic specialized metabolites, we predicted the occurrence of peptide and cytochalasin analogues in four of them by MN, including a similar ion clusters in the MN algorithm provided by MetGem software. Chemoinformatics predictions were fully confirmed after isolation of three pentacyclopeptides (cyclo(Phe-Leu-Leu-Leu-Val), cyclo(Phe-Leu-Leu-Leu-Leu) and cyclo(Phe-Leu-Leu-Leu-Ile)) and two cytochalasins (cytochalasin C and cytochalasin D) exhibiting cytotoxicity at the micromolar concentration. Finally, the chemical study of the last active cytotoxic strain BSNB-0583 led to the isolation of four colletamides bearing an identical decadienamide chain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aiming to develop a library of organic mechanofluorochromic (MFC) materials, solid-state emission properties of pyrene-derivatives with amidophosphonate groups (diethyl 1-(pyrene-1-carboxamido)alkylphosphonates, alkyl: methyl, isopropyl, phenyl) were investigated. All of these compounds were found to show strong blue fluorescence, and blue-to-green emission shift was identified upon grinding. Monomer and several excimer emissive species were identified by steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence investigations. The characteristic green-to-blue thermal back reaction was observed even at room temperature without additives, which would be related to the flexibility of side groups for molecular rearrangement. A diphenyl-boron β-diketonate complex was synthesized. Its photophysical properties were studied in solution and in the solid-state, and compared to those of its parent diketone and the corresponding difluoro-boron complex. TD-DFT calculations show that the molecular orbitals involved in the first Franck–Condon transition are very different for the three compounds studied. The difluoro-boron complex is strongly fluorescent in solution, and remains fluorescent in the solid-state. The free diketone turns to be very weakly fluorescent in solution and displays significant Aggregation Induced Enhanced Emission (AIEE) in the crystalline state, which can be explained by a rigidification of the molecule, while the diphenyl-boron complex is weakly fluorescent in solution as well as in the solid-state. For the free diketone and the difluoro-boron complex a mechanofluorochromic response is observed upon grinding the crystalline powder in a mortar, while for the diphenyl-boron complex no fluorescence emission change is detected under these conditions. Overall, this study shows that the nature of the chelating group has a crucial influence on the photophysical and mechanofluorochromic properties of β-diketonate complexes, leading to a wide variety of behaviors within the closely related structures of such derivatives. We synthesized in a few steps both diastereomers of orthogonally protected β,γ-diamino acids starting from l-phenylalanine or l-tryptophan. Cu(II), Zn(II) and Re(I) complexes have been synthesized with the Schiff base, N′-[1-(2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)-ethylidene]-hydrazinecarbodithioic acid benzyl ester (SBCM-H) which was prepared by condensation of S-benzyldithiocarbazate and 3-acetylcoumarin. The metal complexes were characterized on the basis of various physico-chemical and spectroscopic techniques including elemental analysis and electrochemical studies, and FT-IR, UV-Vis, NMR, EPR and mass spectroscopy. The Schiff base was found to behave as a bidentate ligand coordinating with Cu(II) and Zn(II) in the thiolate form with 1:2 metal to ligand stoichiometry. Crystals suitable for X-ray diffractometry (XRD) were obtained from the reaction of ReCl(CO) with SBCM-H forming a centrosymmetric dimeric complex ReL(CO) linked by Re-S-Re bridges, where S is the thiolate sulfur of the N, S-bidentate ligand. This Re(I) complex is the first metal carbonyl complex with a bidentate dithiocarbazate ligand to have been characterized by XRD. Cytotoxicity assays revealed enhancement of the bioactivity of SBCM-H upon complexation. Both Cu(II) and Re(I) complexes are found to be active against human breast adenocarcinoma cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7. Using a β,γ-diamino acid, several small hybrid α/γ peptides have been synthesized and their conformations investigated through extensive NMR studies and molecular dynamics.
