CoVID-19 has been linked to long-term consequences on several human body organs, including lung ailments, kidney malfunctions, heart dysrhythmia, alterations in brain nutrient levels, psychological difficulties, abrupt changes in blood pressure, and more. Because of the considerable variety in the impacts on different body parts, researchers find it challenging to create models that can incorporate these effects for treatment recommendations and future disease prevention scenarios. Thus, this article examines some of the most recently proposed models for identifying the impacts of CoVID19 on various human organs. This review examines the underlying theories in terms of clinical nuances, functional advantages, contextual limits, and potential empirical applications. Based on this discussion, researchers will be able to find the best models for detecting particular diseases on specific body parts. It was discovered that hybrid bioinspired models, when paired with deep learning-based classification algorithms, can effectively detect these impacts. This text also parametrically analyses these models in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall, allowing readers to select the best models for their performance-specific use cases. To expand on this discussion, this book evaluates a unique CoVID19 Classification Rank Metric (CCRM) that integrates these factors for thorough model identification. Background Age is a non-modifiable risk factor important in the etiology of many diseases. The ageing process of the body absolutely contributes to the degeneration of body tissues and the loss of function and the associated health-related quality of life (HR–QoL). Purpose Effect of age on HR–QoL among patients of 13 disease units. Matherial and methods The study was conducted among 7620 patients. The following age groups were included in the analysis: <30 years old, 30–39 years old, 40–49 years old, 50–59 years, 60–69 years, 70–79 years, and ≥ 80 years. The criterion for inclusion in the group was: age ≥ 18 years, written consent to participate in the study, treatment for chronic disease (at least 2 years), absence of other diseases and/or coexisting chronic symptoms. The SF-36 (Physical Component Summary (PCS); Mental Component Summary (MCS); Index of Life Quality (ILQ)) questionnaire was used to assess HR-QoL. Results The chance of having a better HR–QoL at 60–69 years of age decreases 3-fold (OR = 0.33) in MCS compared to the youngest group of patients. As far as PCS is concerned, there is a 5-fold lower chance of better HR–QoL (OR = 0.20). However, in the oldest group of patients, the chance of better HR–QoL in the MCS dimension is more than 12 times lower, and in PCS the chance of better HR–QoL is 33 times lower. A significant correlation between quality of life and age was confirmed. The level of PCS (R=-0.60), MCS (R=-0.50) and ILQ (R=-0.58) decreases with age. Cancer diseases (CD), regardless of the patient's age, showed the strongest association with HRQoL among the 13 analyzed disease entities. The average level of HRQoL was the lowest. A decreased level of HRQoL was noted in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) aged 30–39 years. The highest HR–QoL was noted in the group of patients aged 40–49 years for both CD and CVD, in later years HR–QoL decreased in patients with CD and CVD. The chance of better HR–QoL decreases with age. After the age of 60, the highest decrease in HR–QoL is observed in both MCS and PCS. Lipids are crucial for human health and reproduction and include diverse fatty acids (FAs), notably polyunsaturated FAs (PUFAs) and short-chain FAs (SCFAs) that are known for their health benefits. Bioactivities of PUFAs, including ω-6 and ω-3 FAs as well as SCFAs, have been widely studied in various tissues and diseases. Epigenetic regulation has been suggested as a significant mechanism affecting the progression of various diseases, including cancers and metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Epigenetics encompasses the reversible modulation of gene expression without altering the DNA sequence itself, mediated by mechanisms such as DNA methylation, histone acetylation, and chromatin remodeling. Bioactive FAs have been demonstrated to regulate gene expression via epigenetic modifications that are potentially important for modulating metabolic control and disease risk. This review paper discusses the evidence in support of bioactive FAs, including ω-6 and ω-3 FAs and SCFAs, eliciting various disease prevention via epigenetic regulation including methylation or acetylation. In this review, we discuss current research on forest carbon risk from natural disturbance under climate change for the United States, with emphasis on advancements in analytical mapping and modeling tools that have potential to drive research for managing future long-term stability of forest carbon. As a natural mechanism for carbon storage, forests are a critical component of meeting climate mitigation strategies designed to combat anthropogenic emissions. Forests consist of long-lived organisms (trees) that can store carbon for centuries or more. However, trees have finite lifespans, and disturbances such as wildfire, insect and disease outbreaks, and drought can hasten tree mortality or reduce tree growth, thereby slowing carbon sequestration, driving carbon emissions, and reducing forest carbon storage in stable pools, particularly the live and standing dead portions that are counted in many carbon offset programs. Many forests have natural disturbance regimes, but climate change and human activities disrupt the frequency and severity of disturbances in ways that are likely to have consequences for the long-term stability of forest carbon. To minimize negative effects and maximize resilience of forest carbon, disturbance risks must be accounted for in carbon offset protocols, carbon management practices, and carbon mapping and modeling techniques. This requires detailed mapping and modeling of the quantities and distribution of forest carbon across the United States and hopefully one day globally; the frequency, severity, and timing of disturbances; the mechanisms by which disturbances affect carbon storage; and how climate change may alter each of these elements. Several tools (e.g. fire spread models, imputed forest inventory models, and forest growth simulators) exist to address one or more of the aforementioned items and can help inform management strategies that reduce forest carbon risk, maintain long-term stability of forest carbon, and further explore challenges, uncertainties, and opportunities for evaluating the continued potential of, and threats to, forests as viable mechanisms for forest carbon storage, including carbon offsets. A growing collective body of research and technological improvements have advanced the science, but we highlight and discuss key limitations, uncertainties, and gaps that remain. Machine learning and deep learning-based techniques are now widely used to identify and diagnose various diseases. However, getting a sufficient data for these machine learning models is difficult, and usually collected data is unbalanced i.e. less number of instances with disease class and a large number of classes without the disease. These imbalanced data cause poor performance of the classifier in the detection of minority or disease classes. To address this class imbalance problem for medical data we have applied 17 different class imbalance handling techniques on four publically available datasets with Random forest as a base classifier. The comprehensive review covering the time frame of 1990 to 2023 is also done on "Class imbalance handling techniques" to gather insights using VOSviewer software. Performances of different class imbalance handling techniques are statistically evaluated and impact of different disease datasets on the prediction performance is also statistically assessed. Two novel techniques Genetic Algorithm-Cost sensitive-Deep neural network(GA-CS-DNN) and Class imbalance handling technique-Genetic Algorithm-Deep neural Network(CIH-GA-DNN)are proposed for handling class imbalance problems. Performances of proposed techniques are compared with other state of art class imbalance handling techniques and obtained results showed that OnesidedSelection outperformed all other techniques. A statistical test further demonstrated that OnesidedSelection performs differently than SMOTENN. Significant statistical differences in illness prediction can be seen between the kidney and diabetes, prostate and kidney, and kidney and heart datasets when compared pair-wise. Aquaculture plays a substantial role in providing high-quality food globally, as fish serve as a source of protein, minerals, and polyunsaturated fatty acids for human health. Consequently, aquaculture production is steadily increasing. However, there are some challenges including high expense of commercial feed, aquatic pollution, diseases, misuse of antibiotics, and safety of food fish for human health that are concerns for the achievement of sustainable aquaculture production. Therefore, there is a need to explore more options to address these problems. The use of aquatic plants in aquaculture could be the best way to solve these problems and develop sustainable aquaculture production. Aquatic plants, including algae, submerged plants, floating-leaf plants, and emergent plants, offer nutritionally enriched options used in aquaculture as direct feed or feed ingredients. Recent observations indicate that various forms of algae (e.g., nanoparticles, extracts, and pigments) have emerged as promising feed additives in aquaculture. Their application has demonstrated a notable enhancement in the growth performance and survival rates of fishes. This review summarizes the uses of aquatic plants in aquaculture, including (1) direct feeding of fish, (2) use as feed ingredients for fish feed, (3) reduction of water pollution through phytoremediation to improve water quality, and (4) serving as a therapeutic source for disease management. In addition, this article emphasizes the potential of different aquatic plants to solve various problems, including those posed by climate change, in achieving a safe and sustainable aquatic production. Drug labeling and instructions provide essential information for patients regarding the usage of drugs. Instructions for the dosage of drug usage are critical for the effectiveness of the drug and the safety of patients. The dosage of many drugs varies depending on the patient's age. However, as our understanding of human biology deepens, we believe that these instructions need to be modified to incorporate different life stages. This is because human biology and metabolism differ significantly among different life stages, and their responses to drugs also vary. Additionally, the same age of different persons may fall into different life stages. Therefore, our group from multiple institutes and countries proposes a reexamination of whether incorporating life stages in all or any drug instructions will greatly enhance drug efficiency and patients' health. In the regulation of gene expression, epigenetic factors like non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) play an equal role in genetics. The role of microRNAs (miRNAs), which are members of the ncRNA family, in post-transcriptional gene regulation is well-documented and has important implications for both normal and abnormal biological processes, such as angiogenesis, proliferation, survival, and apoptosis. The purpose of this study was to synthesize previous research on miR-449a by analyzing published results from various databases, as there have been a number of investigations on miR-449's potential involvement in the development of human disorders. Based on our findings, miR-449 is strongly dysregulated in a wide range of diseases, from various cancers to cardiovascular diseases, cognitive impairments, and respiratory diseases, and it may play a pivotal role in the development of these problems. In addition, miR-449a functions as a crucial regulator of the expression of several well-known genes, including E2F-3, BCL2, NOTCH1, and SOX4. This, in turn, modulates various pathways and processes related to cancer, including Notch, PI3K, and TGF-β, and contributes to the improvement of cancer drug sensitivity. Curiously, abnormalities in the expression of this miRNA may serve as diagnostic or prognostic indicators for distinguishing between healthy people and patients or to evaluate the survival rates for specific disorders. This article provides a synopsis of the current understanding of miR-449a's role in human disease development through its regulation of gene expression and the biological processes related to these genes and their linked processes. In addition, we have covered the topic of miR-449a's potential as a clinical feature (diagnosis and prognosis) indicator for a range of disorders, both neoplastic and non-neoplastic. The selection of sea cucumbers characterized by resilience to temperature changes, handling stress, and disease is the key to enhancing the efficiency of Apostichopus japonicus production. Color morphs were devised to distinguish the resilience of A. japonicus. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the behavioral and physiological differences of seeds of A. japonicus in different colored under the condition of acute drop of temperature, seawater washing, and Vibrio infection. The dark-colored individuals showed significantly higher food consumption, fecal output, and glycogen phosphorylase activity under the condition of acute temperature drop. This connotates that dark-colored seeds demonstrate a swifter resumption of feeding activities and exhibit superior adaptability in rapidly cooling environments. Significantly longer foraging distance and foraging time, as well as faster foraging speed, and higher cortisol concentration were found in dark-colored individuals after seawater washing. This indicates that dark-colored individuals exhibit a swift responsiveness to handling stress, enabling prompt resumption of foraging activities. Dark-colored seeds have more survived number and higher catalase activity after Vibrio infection. This indicates that dark-colored individuals manifest a heightened resistance to Vibrio infection. This research examined how three phytobiotics impact the growth, utilization of feed, immune response, and resistance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) to disease. A total of 180 fish, with an average initial weight of 31.2 g (number = 15 per 150-L tank), were randomly divided into four groups, with each group replicated three times. Fish were fed isoenergetic (15.7 kJ g−1 gross energy) or isonitrogenous (262 g/kg−1 crude protein) control diets supplemented with 1% Calopogonium mucunoides, Ocimum gratissimum, or Tridax procumbens leaf meals, and the feeding trial lasted 10 weeks. The growth performance, feed utilization, and innate immunity of the fish were measured. Ten fish from each replicate were intraperitoneally injected with Streptococcus agalactiae, and mortality was recorded for 18 days. The O. niloticus fed phytobiotic-enriched diets exhibited significantly greater weight gain (68.6 ± 3.7; 70.3 ± 1.6; 71.6 ± 2.9) and specific growth rates (1.70 ± 0.05; 1.71 ± 0.01; 1.73 ± 0.06) than did those in the control group (55.3 ± 1.1; 1.50 ± 0.05). Additionally, phytobiotic supplementation in Nile tilapia diets positively impacted feed conversion efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, feed conversion ratio, hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cells, lymphocyte count, serum protein profile, glucose level, kidney-liver function, and bactericidal and lysozyme activities. Following the challenge with S. agalactiae, the survival rates were significantly greater (p < 0.05) in the fish fed a diet supplemented with O. gratissimum (70%), T. procumbens (63.3%), or C. mucunoides (53.3%) than in those in the control group (26.3%). The development of gene therapy has always come with the expectation that it will offer a cure for various disorders, of which hemophilia is a paradigm example. However, although the term is used regularly, it is unclear what exactly is meant with "cure". Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyse how the concept of cure is used in practice and evaluate which of the interpretations is most suitable in discussions surrounding gene therapy. We analysed how cure is used in four different medical fields where the concept raises discussion. We show that cure can be used in three different ways: cure as normalization of the body, cure as obtaining a normal life, or cure as a change in identity. We argue that since cure is a practical term, its interpretation should be context-specific and the various uses can exist simultaneously, as long as their use is suitable to the function the notion of cure plays in each of the settings. We end by highlighting three different settings in the domain of hemophilia gene therapy in which the term cure is used and explore the function(s) it serves in each setting. We conclude that in the clinical application of gene therapy, it could be better to abandon the term cure, whereas more modest and specified definitions of cure are required in the context of health resource allocation decisions and decisions on research funding. Understanding of risk factors for parasite introduction and amplification within fish farms is crucial to design effective biosecurity and control management strategies but currently, quantitative data on the relevance of such risk factors is largely absent. We have designed the questionnaires for stakeholders to characterize the risk factors and estimate their relevance for infections causing major economic burden on gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) and European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) production: the myxozoan Enteromyxum leei, the monogenean Sparicotyle chrysophrii, the crustacean Ceratothoa oestroides and the dinoflagellate Amyloodinium ocellatum. Twenty-two experts (Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Norway, and Spain) were invited to participate in an online questionnaire, followed by a physical meeting to discuss the most probable values for parameter estimates. Quantitative estimates were obtained for the relevance of risk routes of parasite spread (e.g., the likelihood of parasite transmission from an infected to an uninfected net cage 5 m away was estimated to be 90% for E. leei), and the relevance of management procedures and environmental factors that may have an impact on the probability of infection to lead to disease (e.g., where mortalities are removed at > 5-day intervals, the likelihood that infection will lead to disease was 30% for S. chrysophrii). These quantitative estimates were appraised, including the delay in reaching harvest size, or cumulative mortality during phases of production, being essential for calculation of the burden of these diseases in aquaculture. A fixed off-bottom Kappaphycus striatus var. sacol farm was monitored for 12 months (June 2019 to May 2020) and the monthly incidence of disease and pests was recorded. Meteorological information in situ, from the nearest synoptic station and online data were collected to determine the relationships between temporal environmental changes and the incidence of seaweed health problems. The results showed that "ice-ice" disease (IID) was observed in dry months (i.e., from February to April 2020) and was significantly influenced by increased irradiance, salinity, sea surface temperature, and wind speed (p=0.004‒0.030). Also, the IID incidence was positively affected by reduced precipitation, storm surface run-off, water current speed, and inorganic nutrient (nitrite and ammonia) levels (p=0.002‒0.019). In comparison, epiphytic filamentous algae (EFA) were observed in wet months (i.e., from September to December 2019), with incidence varying from low to very high (≤25–100%) as the culture progressed. EFA incidence was significantly influenced by reduced salinity and increased storm surface run-off and inorganic nutrient (nitrate and ammonia) levels (p=0.006‒0.040). An intense tropical cyclone struck the farming area in December 2019, resulting in partial die-offs of farmed seaweed. Such seaweed health problems are expected to become more prevalent in the coming years as weather disturbances brought about by changing weather patterns become more frequent and intense. Hence, mitigation and preventative approaches must be fully considered to sustain the industry's growth while protecting the livelihoods of many coastal communities dependent on seaweed farming. The yield of Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis in China was reduced by at least 40% in 2023 compared with 2022. Based on the investigation of this study, the decrease in production was caused by a disease locally named 'Baotou'. The first sign of 'Baotou' disease was observed with the appearance of many light red branches in the thalli of G. lemaneiformis. During the onset of 'Baotou' disease, G. lemaneiformis lost its original red color and eventually decayed. One of the most typical morphological characteristics of 'Baotou' is that the closer the thalli were to the attachment rope, the more they decayed. Compared with the flat and regular epidermal cells of healthy alga, diseased algae had a rough surface covered with mucilaginous substance and numerous bacteria were found within the mucilaginous substance. The number of decayed points was significantly increased when the healthy cuttings were placed near the 'Baotou' cuttings. Pathogenic bacteria, which can induce the decay of healthy G. lemaneiformis, can be obtained from the 'Baotou' diseased G. lemaneiformis. The 'Baotou' disease is contagious. Once the G. lemaneiformis are infected with 'Baotou' disease, they should be harvested timely to prevent them from infecting the healthy alga. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is an intracellular organelle that contributes to the folding of proteins and calcium homeostasis. Numerous elements can disrupt its function, leading to the accumulation of proteins that are unfolded or misfolded in the lumen of the ER, a condition that is known as ER stress. This phenomenon can trigger cell death through the activation of apoptosis and inflammation. Glucoraphanin (GRA) is the predominant glucosinolate found in cruciferous vegetables. Various mechanical and biochemical processes activate the enzyme myrosinase, leading to the hydrolysis of glucoraphanin into the bioactive compound sulforaphane. Sulforaphane is an organosulfur compound that belongs to the isothiocyanate group. It possesses a wide range of activities and has shown remarkable potential as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, and anti-angiogenic substance. Additionally, sulforaphane is resistant to oxidation, has been demonstrated to have low toxicity, and is considered well-tolerable in individuals. These properties make it a valuable natural dietary supplement for research purposes. Sulforaphane has been demonstrated as a potential candidate drug molecule for managing a range of diseases, primarily because of its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties, which can be mediated by modulation of ER stress pathways. This review seeks to cover a wealth of data supporting the broad range of protective functions of sulforaphane, improving various diseases, such as cardiovascular, central nervous system, liver, eye, and reproductive diseases, as well as diabetes, cancer, gastroenteritis, and osteoarthritis, through the amelioration of ER stress in both in vivo and in vitro studies. Objective: Radioiodine (I-131) therapy for hyperthyroidism is a well-established and safe treatment option. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the computed tomography (CT) value and the function and volume of the thyroid gland by identifying the factors that induce changes in the CT value of patients with hyperthyroidism. Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 38 patients with Graves' disease and 10 patients with Plummer disease. To obtain the mean CT value and volume of the thyroid gland, the entire thyroid gland was set as the region of interest. A test dose of 3.7 MBq I-131 was administered before initiating I-131 therapy, and the radioiodine uptake (RIU) rate was assessed after 3, 24, 96, and 168 h. An approximate curve was plotted based on the RIU values obtained, and the effective half-life (EHL) was calculated. The correlation between the mean CT value and the volume of the thyroid gland, 24-h RIU, EHL, and the free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and TSH receptor antibody (TRAb) levels was evaluated. Results: The CT value exhibited a significant positive correlation with EHL in patients with Graves' disease (r = 0.62, p < 0.0001) as well as patients with Plummer disease (r = 0.74, p < 0.05). However, it did not display any correlation with the remaining parameters. Conclusion: The CT value is significantly correlated with EHL, suggesting that it reflects thyroid function and is mainly related to the factors associated with iodine discharge. This paper explores the relationship between the problem of dis/harmony in Jakob von Uexküll's Umwelt theory and the inclusion of experiences of disability, disease, or trauma, in said theory. It starts with discussions of dis/harmony and dis/ability in Uexküllian studies, from Uexüll's very own work on Umwelt theory to the contemporary commentaries and studies of said theory. It first articulates how Uexküll's focus on harmony provided poor conditions to account for dis/ability, while commenting on points where Uexküll offered direct engagement with or openness to situations of dis/harmony and dis/ability. It then forays into post-Uexküllian research on dis/ease and pathology and suggests that the work of Weizsäcker, Kurt Goldstein and Georges Canguilhem might constitute a useful step aside to allow Umwelt theory better to account for these situations. From then on, the article shows how contemporary investigations into the mutability of Umwelten in the context of the ecological crisis allows for the development of a phenomenology of Umwelt crises and trauma. Finally, the ethological dimension of Umwelt theory is taken up as a way to formulate a philosophy of intra-specific ethological diversity and ethological divergence, and the example of autism is read into the theoretical framework of Umwelt thinking. The widespread use of the name 'geroscience' in the science of aging is sometimes met with a wary attitude by biogerontologists other than its inventors. Here, we provide an overview of its origin and evolution to assess what exactly it is and to discuss its theoretical and biological relationship to earlier movements of anti-aging medicine and biogerontology more generally. Geroscience posits that targeting aging may offer a cost-effective approach to improve late-life health in humans, and because aging is malleable in model organisms and what regulates this is sufficiently understood, the time is ripe for moving forward to translational and clinical research. The geroscience agenda has rebranded imagery of past traditions, yet the claim that therapies for human aging are ready or within the imminent future is contestable and on brand with tradition, even if biogerontology has made great progress in the past decades. Purpose of Review: Artificial intelligence (AI), be it neuronal networks, machine learning or deep learning, has numerous beneficial effects on healthcare systems; however, its potential applications and diagnostic capabilities for immunologic diseases have yet to be explored. Understanding AI systems can help healthcare workers better assimilate artificial intelligence into their practice and unravel its potential in diagnostics, clinical research, and disease management. Recent Findings: We reviewed recent advancements in AI systems and their integration in healthcare systems, along with their potential benefits in the diagnosis and management of diseases. We explored machine learning as employed in allergy diagnosis and its learning patterns from patient datasets, as well as the possible advantages of using AI in the field of research related to allergic reactions and even remote monitoring. Considering the ethical challenges and privacy concerns raised by clinicians and patients with regard to integrating AI in healthcare, we explored the new guidelines adapted by regulatory bodies. Despite these challenges, AI appears to have been successfully incorporated into various healthcare systems and is providing patient-centered solutions while simultaneously assisting healthcare workers. Crop diseases pose significant threats to agriculture, impacting crop production. Biotic factors contribute to various diseases, including fungal, bacterial, and viral infections. Recent advancements in deep learning present a novel approach to the detection and recognition of these crop diseases. While considerable research has focused on identifying and recognizing crop diseases, fungal disease-affected crops have received relatively less attention and also detecting disease on different region datasets. This paper is about spotting fungal diseases in crops across different regions with diverse climates. It emphasizes the need for tailored detection methods, addressing the risk of mycotoxin production by fungi, which can harm both humans and animals. Detecting fungal diseases in apple, guava, and custard apple crops such as spot, scab, rust, rot, leaf spot, and insect ate. In the proposed work, the modified ResNeXt variant of the convolution neural network (CNN) technique was employed to predict 3 major crop classes of fungal disease. Initially, using Inception-v7 and ResNet for fungal disease in crops did not yield satisfactory results. A modified ResNeXt CNN model was proposed, showing improved fungal disease prediction. The novel model underwent a comparison with established methodologies. The suggested model draws upon a benchmark dataset consisting of 14,408 images capturing fungal diseases, categorized into three distinct classes: apple, custard apple, and guava. Experimental outcomes show that the proposed mutated ResNeXt model outperformed the state-of-the-art approaches. The model achieved 98.92% accuracy and high performance across recall, precision, and F1-score (above 99%) for the benchmark dataset, which gained encouragement and was comparable with the state-of-the-art approach. Aquaculture is considered one of the fastest-growing food production sectors, which provides about 41% of the world's fish food. Different types of pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, amoebas, oomycetes, fungi, and ectoparasites, have emerged to cause serious fish diseases. Medicines such as antibiotics and chemicals as well as vaccines have been widely used to combat fish diseases. However, their undesirable use to treat fish in aquaculture develops drug resistance in the surrounding microbes, especially antibiotic resistance in fish-associated bacterial strains in the column water and sediment, is mostly the consequence of applying antibiotics in aquaculture. The rise of antibiotic resistance in aquaculture and multidrug-resistant pathogens in the food chain threatens public health, hampering infection treatment and compromising food safety. Addressing this challenge is vital to protect both public well-being and the aquaculture industry's future. Basic control measures for sustainable, disease-free aquaculture, including alteration of antibiotic resistance genes into other animal pathogens, have been driven by the potential development of antibiotics with respect to environmental impact and consumer safety. Anyhow, vaccination is an effective control measure that overcomes drug resistance conditions in aquaculture; even some therapeutic and prophylactic methods are being simultaneously applied for the treatment of fish diseases. Mostly, antibiotics and probiotics do not show strong effects after the development of new mutant strains and drug-resistant pathogens. Therefore, various types of vaccines have been developed to treat aquatic pathogens effectively by using advanced molecular techniques. Previous studies on fish vaccines have typically lacked comprehensive assessments of vaccine efficacy across varying environments and species, often focusing on single pathogens while neglecting the potential influence of pathogen interactions within complex aquatic ecosystems. This review focuses on advancements in technology and prospects of vaccines used in the aquaculture industries for reducing antibiotics usage. It also discussed the vaccination from traditional to modern new-generation ones including DNA, monovalent, and polyvalent vaccines. Spatial variation in parasitic infection may have many physical and biological drivers. Uncovering these drivers may be especially important for parasites of ecosystem engineers because the engineers are foundational to their communities. Oysters are an important coastal ecosystem engineer that have declined drastically worldwide, in part due to enhanced cases of lethal oyster diseases, such as Dermo and MSX, caused by the protozoan parasites Perkinsus marinus and Haplosporidium nelsoni, respectively. Besides water quality and hydrodynamics, there is little information on how other variables influence the prevalence and intensity of these pathogens in oysters across a regional scale. To examine drivers of spatial variation in these oyster parasites—including host size, local reef properties, and landscape properties—we sampled 24 reefs systematically spread along the coast of Georgia, USA. Across sites, we found universally high prevalence of oysters with at least one of these parasites (91.02% ± 8.89, mean ± SD). Not only are high levels of parasite prevalence potentially problematic for a pivotal ecosystem engineer, but also low spatial variability may limit the explanatory power of variables across a regional scale. Our statistical models explained between 18 and 42% of the variation in spatial patterns of prevalence and intensity of these microparasites. Interestingly, landscape context was a positive predictor of P. marinus, but a negative predictor of H. nelsoni. Overall, our findings suggest that factors driving parasite prevalence and intensity operate across multiple spatial scales, and the same factor can both facilitate and hinder different parasites within the same host species. To evaluate the influence of ecological migration village construction on mosquito vector populations and mosquito-borne diseases in southern Yunnan Province. Two vicinal villages in Mengla County, the southern part of Yunnan Province, a native village, and a newly built village, were selected as study sites. Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis vector mosquito population divergence between the two villages were studied. Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases in the two villages were also compared. Anopheles minimus was the dominant population in houses in the newly built village, and An. jeyporiensis dominated the native village. Accordingly, there were nine malaria cases in the new village compared with zero cases in the native village. Culex tritaeniorhynchus, the chief JE vector in the study area, displayed no difference between the two villages; however, there was a higher density of the local secondary JE vector (Cx. pseudovishnui) in the native village than in the new one. The JE cases in the villages corresponded to zero. From the vector-borne disease perspective, our results suggest that local community should pay more attention to malaria and An. minimus during the construction of an ecological migration village in the new Chinese Western Developing Plan (CWDP) in southern Yunnan Province. Disease cross-transmission between wild and domestic ungulates can negatively impact livelihoods and wildlife conservation. In Pin valley, migratory sheep and goats share pastures seasonally with the resident Asiatic ibex (Capra sibirica), leading to potential disease cross-transmission. Focussing on gastro-intestinal nematodes (GINs) as determinants of health in ungulates, we hypothesized that infection on pastures would increase over summer from contamination by migrating livestock. Consequently, interventions in livestock that are well-timed should reduce infection pressure for ibex. Using a parasite life-cycle model, that predicts infective larval availability, we investigated GIN transmission dynamics and evaluated potential interventions. Migratory livestock were predicted to contribute most infective larvae onto shared pastures due to higher density and parasite levels, driving infections in both livestock and ibex. The model predicted a c.30-day anti-parasitic intervention towards the end of the livestock’s time in Pin would be most effective at reducing GINs in both hosts. Albeit with the caveats of not being able to provide evidence of interspecific parasite transmission due to the inability to identify parasite species, this case demonstrates the usefulness of our predictive model for investigating parasite transmission in landscapes where domestic and wild ungulates share pastures. Chronic, non-communicable diseases present a major barrier to living a long and healthy life. In many cases, early diagnosis can facilitate prevention, monitoring, and treatment efforts, improving patient outcomes. There is therefore a critical need to make screening techniques as accessible, unintimidating, and cost-effective as possible. The association between ocular biomarkers and systemic health and disease (oculomics) presents an attractive opportunity for detection of systemic diseases, as ophthalmic techniques are often relatively low-cost, fast, and non-invasive. In this review, we highlight the key associations between structural biomarkers in the eye and the four globally leading causes of morbidity and mortality: cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegenerative disease, and metabolic disease. We observe that neurodegenerative disease is a particularly promising target for oculomics, with biomarkers detected in multiple ocular structures. Cardiovascular disease biomarkers are present in the choroid, retinal vasculature, and retinal nerve fiber layer, and metabolic disease biomarkers are present in the eyelid, tear fluid, lens, and retinal vasculature. In contrast, only the tear fluid emerged as a promising ocular target for the detection of cancer. The retina is a rich source of oculomics data, the analysis of which has been enhanced by artificial intelligence-based tools. Although not all biomarkers are disease-specific, limiting their current diagnostic utility, future oculomics research will likely benefit from combining data from various structures to improve specificity, as well as active design, development, and optimization of instruments that target specific disease signatures, thus facilitating differential diagnoses. We show that neurodegenerative disease leaves tell-tale signs in lots of different parts of the eye. Signs of cardiovascular and metabolic disease biomarkers are mostly found in the back of the eye, and signs of cancer can be found in the tear fluid. Although signs of disease can be seen in the eye, not all of them will tell us what the disease is. We believe that future research will help us to understand more about long-term disease and how to detect it if we combine information from different structures within the eye and develop new tools to target these specific structures. Of the factors studied in individual ageing, the accumulation of senescent cells has been considered as an essential cause of organ degeneration to eventually initiate age-related diseases. Cellular senescence is attributed to the accumulation of damage for an inducement in the activation of cell cycle inhibitory pathways, resulting the cell permanently withdraw from the cell proliferation cycle. Further, senescent cells will activate the inflammatory factor secretion pathway to promote the development of various age-related diseases. Senolytics, a small molecule compound, can delay disease development and extend mammalian lifespan. The evidence from multiple trials shows that the targeted killing of senescent cells has a significant clinical application for the treatment of age-related diseases. In addition, senolytics are also significant for the development of ageing research in solid organ transplantation, which can fully develop the potential of elderly organs and reduce the age gap between demand and supply. We conclude that the main characteristics of cellular senescence, the anti-ageing drug senolytics in the treatment of chronic diseases and organ transplantation, and the latest clinical progress of related researches in order to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of ageing and related diseases. Plant disease often increases with N, decreases with CO2, and increases as biodiversity is lost (i.e., the dilution effect). Additionally, all these factors can indirectly alter disease by changing host biomass and hence density-dependent disease transmission. Yet over long periods of time as communities undergo compositional changes, these biomass-mediated pathways might fade, intensify, or even reverse in direction. Using a field experiment that has manipulated N, CO2, and species richness for over 20 years, we compared severity of a specialist rust fungus (Puccinia andropogonis) on its grass host (Andropogon gerardii) shortly after the experiment began (1999) and twenty years later (2019). Between these two sampling periods, two decades apart, we found that disease severity consistently increased with N and decreased with CO2. However, the relationship between diversity and disease reversed from a dilution effect in 1999 (more severe disease in monocultures) to an amplification effect in 2019 (more severe disease in mixtures). The best explanation for this reversal centered on host density (i.e., aboveground biomass), which was initially highest in monoculture, but became highest in mixtures two decades later. Thus, the diversity-disease pattern reversed, but disease consistently increased with host biomass. These results highlight the consistency of N and CO2 as drivers of plant disease in the Anthropocene and emphasize the critical role of host biomass—despite potentially variable effects of diversity—for relationships between biodiversity and disease. How do people understand the concepts of mental health and disorder? The objective of this paper is to examine the impact of several factors on people’s judgments about whether a condition constitutes a mental disorder or a healthy state. Specifically, this study examines the impact of the source of the condition, its outcome, individual valuation (i.e., the value the individual attaches to the condition), and group valuation (i.e., the value the relevant group attaches to the condition). While we find that people’s health and disorder judgments are driven by perceived dysfunction, we also find that health and disorder judgments are impacted differently by these factors. Health judgements are impacted by outcome and individual valuation, and disorder judgments are impacted by condition source. These results suggest that the folk concept of mental health is positive (i.e., mental health is more than the absence of mental disorder) and normativist (i.e., value judgments play a significant role in determining whether a condition counts as healthy), while the concept of mental disorder aligns with a naturalist perspective, at least to the extent that dysfunction plays an important role in categorizing a condition as a disorder. In summer 2018, extensive phytosanitary checks occurred in Tufanbeyli, Adana, Turkey, in a vast forest. These were prompted by significant juniper tree losses with unusual shoot growth and "witches' broom" appearance. To investigate the presence of phytoplasma in the affected juniper trees, nested-PCR assays were employed. Universal phytoplasma-specific primer pairs were used for amplification of the 16S rRNA gene. A total of 300 samples were collected, comprising 242 samples from the witches' brooms displaying symptoms and 58 samples from apparently healthy trees. PCR results showed 90.5% of symptomatic juniper trees tested positive for phytoplasma. All asymptomatic junipers, except three trees, tested negative for phytoplasma in PCR analysis. The nucleotide sequences of 107 PCR amplicons derived from the infected samples were analyzed, revealing a high degree of similarity, ranging from 99.1 to 99.3%, to the 16S ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequence of Ligustrum witches' broom phytoplasma (LiWBP). It is worth noting that this phytoplasma has been previously documented to infect California privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) and maize (Zea mays L.) plants in Turkey. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA identified separate LiWBP strains from Ligustrum, maize, and juniper, forming a distinct clade. This underscores their unique evolutionary lineage and genetic divergence from other known phytoplasma groups. BLAST and in-silico RFLP analysis suggest the presence of a new subgroup or lineage specific to juniper within the LiWBP-related strains. Potato virus Y is the most important potato virus worldwide, affecting tuber yield and quality. The resistance gene Rychc, derived from the potato wild relative Solanum chacoense, provides broad spectrum and durable resistance to the virus and has been used to develop resistant cultivars. Several DNA markers have been developed and have contributed to the efficient selection of resistant individuals. In this study, we developed Kompetitive Allele Specific PCR markers for Rychc using whole-genome resequencing data for a diverse set of 25 PVY susceptible cultivars and a Rychc-positive clone. Marker Ry_4099 targets two variants in the 3ʹ-UTR and was able to discriminate all five allele dosages in a tetraploid test population. Marker Ry_3331 targets two variants in Exon 4 and, although it only provides presence/absence information, it discriminates between the two known resistant alleles of Rychc. The past few years have been marked by a drastic increase in pathogen spillover events. However, the extent and taxonomic range at which these events take place remain as crucial unanswered questions in many host–pathogen systems. Here, we take advantage of opportunistically sampled bird carcasses from the South Island of New Zealand, with the aim of identifying Plasmodium spp. infections in native and endemic New Zealand seabird species. In total, six samples from five bird species were positive for avian malaria, including four of which were successfully sequenced and identified as Plasmodium matutinum LINN1 lineage. These results provide new Plasmodium infection records in seabirds, including the first documented case in Procellariiformes in New Zealand, highlighting the potential disease risk to these species. Liver diseases, including NAFLD, are a growing worldwide health concern. Currently, there is a lack of suitable in vitro models that sustain basic primary human hepatocyte (PHH) morphology and functionality while supporting presentation of disease-associated phenotypic characteristics such as lipid accumulation and inflammasome activation. In TruVivo, an all-human triculture system (hTCS), basic metabolic functions were characterized in PHHs isolated from normal or diseased livers during two-weeks of culture. Decreases in albumin and urea levels and CYP3A4 activity were seen in diseased-origin PHHs compared to normal PHHs along with higher CYP2E1 expression. Positive expression of the macrophage markers CD68 and CD163 were seen in the diseased PHH preparations. Elevated levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and MCP-1 and the fibrotic markers CK-18 and TGF-β were also measured. Gene expression of FASN, PCK1, and G6PC in the diseased PHHs was decreased compared to the normal PHHs. Further characterization revealed differences in lipogenesis and accumulation of intracellular lipids in normal and diseased PHHs when cultured with oleic acid and high glucose. TruVivo represents a promising new platform to study lipogenic mechanisms in normal and diseased populations due to the preservation of phenotypic differences over a prolonged culture period. A cerebrospinal-fluid-related (CSF-related) problem occurred in 25-30% of frontoethmoidal encephalocele (FEE) cases. Since there was no algorithm or guideline, the judgment to treat the CSF-related problem often relies upon the surgeon's experience. In our institution, the early shunt was preferable to treat the problem, but it added risks to the children. We developed an algorithm, "Shunt Algorithm for Frontoethmoidal Encephalocele" (SAFE), to guide the surgeon in making the most reasonable decision. To evaluate the SAFE's efficacy in reducing unnecessary early shunting for FEE with CSF-related intracranial abnormality. Medical records of FEE patients with CSF-related abnormalities treated from January 2007 to December 2019 were reviewed. The patients were divided into two groups: before the SAFE group as group 1 (2007 – 2011) and after the SAFE group as group 2 (2012 – 2019). We excluded FEE patients without CSF-related abnormalities. We compared the number of shunts and the complications between the two groups. One hundred and twenty-nine patient's medical records were reviewed. The males were predominating (79 versus 50 patients) with an average age of 58.2±7.1 months old (6 to 276 months old). Ventriculomegaly was found in 18 cases, arachnoid cysts in 46 cases, porencephalic cysts in 19 cases, and ventricular malformation in 46 cases. Group 1, with a score of 4 to 7 (19 cases), received an early shunt along with the FEE repair. Complications occurred in 7 patients of this group. Group 2, with a score of 4-7, received shunts only after the complication occurred in 3 cases (pseudomeningocele unresponsive with conservative treatment and re-operation in 2 cases; a sign of intracranial hypertension in 1 case). No complication occurred in this group. Groups 1 and 2, with scores of 8 or higher (6 and 8 cases, respectively), underwent direct shunt, with one complication (exposed shunt) in each group. In 2020, leaf spots were observed on Datura innoxia plants in Curitiba, Brazil. Alternaria alternata was identified after isolation from symptomatic leaves through morphological characterization, along with sequencing of the partial tef, gapdh, and rpb2 genes and phylogenetic analysis. With the extensive applications of nanomaterials in drug delivery in recent years, nanocarriers with composite polymers, represented by liposomal gels, have been studied for drug delivery for numerous diseases. The drug is loaded inside the liposomal gel and is endowed with specific temperature, pH, enzyme, light, electric field and other stimulating materials; further, the release of the loaded drug is controlled by specific stimuli. Liposomal gels provide better stability for drug formulation and obtaining higher targeting and stimulus responsiveness compared to single nano-drug-loaded materials. Hence, the toxic side effects of drugs can be effectively reduced and the drug delivery efficiency, therapeutic efficacy and safety can be considerably improved. At present, research on liposome gels as drug delivery carriers is still under developing stage, and their advantages as drug carriers will be more useful in practice and become a powerful tool for human beings to cure diseases in the future. In the future studies, the synthesis and stimuli-responsive mechanism of liposomal gels can be further explored to expand their applications in the field of disease treatment and provide more innovative solutions for precision medicine and individualised therapy. A precise diagnosis in medicine allows appropriate disease-specific management. Kidney failure of unknown aetiology remains a frequent diagnostic label within the haemodialysis unit and kidney transplant clinic, accounting for 15–20% of these patients. Approximately 10% of such cases may have an underlying monogenic cause of kidney failure. Modern genetic approaches can provide a precise diagnosis for patients and their families. A search for extra-renal disease manifestations is also important as this may point to a specific genetic diagnosis. Here, we present two patients where molecular genetic testing was performed because of kidney failure of unknown aetiology and associated retinal phenotypes. The first patient reached kidney failure at 16 years of age but only presented with a retinal phenotype at 59 years of age and was found to have evidence of rod-cone dystrophy. The second patient presented with childhood kidney failure at the age of 15 years and developed visual difficulties and photophobia at the age of 32 years and was diagnosed with cone dystrophy. In both cases, genetic tests were performed which revealed a homozygous whole-gene deletion of NPHP1-encoding nephrocystin-1, providing the unifying diagnosis of Senior-Løken syndrome type 1. We conclude that reviewing kidney and extra-renal phenotypes together with targeted genetic testing was informative in these cases of kidney failure of unknown aetiology and associated retinal phenotypes. The involvement of an interdisciplinary team is advisable when managing such patients and allows referral to other relevant specialities. The long time lag and lack of diagnostic clarity and clinical evaluation in our cases should encourage genetic investigations for every young patient with unexplained kidney failure. For these and similar patients, a more timely genetic diagnosis would allow for improved management, a risk assessment of kidney disease in relatives, and the earlier identification of extra-renal disease manifestations. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a congenital malformation commonly treated with palliative surgery and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Risk stratification models have often relied upon traditional survival analyses or outcomes data failing to extend beyond infancy. Individualized prediction of transplant-free survival (TFS) employing machine learning (ML) based analyses of outcomes beyond infancy may provide further valuable insight for families and healthcare providers along the course of a staged palliation. Data from both the Pediatric Heart Network (PHN) Single Ventricle Reconstruction (SVR) trial and Extension study (SVR II), which extended cohort follow up for five years was used to develop ML-driven models predicting TFS. Models incrementally incorporated features corresponding to successive phases of care, from pre-Stage 1 palliation (S1P) through the stage 2 palliation (S2P) hospitalization. Models trained with features from Pre-S1P, S1P operation, and S1P hospitalization all demonstrated time-dependent area under the curves (td-AUC) beyond 0.70 through 5 years following S1P, with a model incorporating features through S1P hospitalization demonstrating particularly robust performance (td-AUC 0.838 (95% CI 0.836–0.840)). The identification of diseases in plants contributes an important role in captivating disease control methods for the improvement of quality and quantity of crop yield. Mango trees are affected by different diseases and the identification of diseases is a tedious task till now when those diseases are manually detected. This paper proposes the novel hybrid Coyote Grey Wolf optimization (CO-GWO) algorithm for the classification of mango leaves as normal or diseased. The classification process is done through the extraction of significant features from the segmented image. The Neural network (NN) classifier performs the classification task, with the weights being adjusted using the proposed algorithm that acts a major role in the enhancement of the classification accuracy. The effectiveness of the proposed model is evaluated concerning the evaluation metrics, namely accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 measure, and is attained to be 96.7111%, 97.5712%, 97.1504%, and 96.4792%, respectively. The researchers carried out a bibliometric study to obtain understanding of the current research trends, citation patterns, ownership and partnership arrangements, publishing patterns, and other parameters related to early identification of apple illnesses. Comprehensive interdisciplinary scientific maps are limited because syndrome recognition is not restricted to any solitary arena of research, despite the fact that there have been many studies on the identification of apple diseases. By employing a scientometric technique and 109 publications from the Scopus database published between 2011 and 2022, this study attempted to assess the condition of the research area and combine knowledge frameworks. To find important journals, authors, nations, articles, and topics, the study used the automated processes of VOSviewer and Biblioshiny software. In this paper we articulate a characterization of the concept of disease as a social problem. We argue that, from a social ontology point of view, diseases are problems that are identified and addressed within the framework of concrete social institutions and practices (those that shape medicine). This approach allows us to overcome the classical distinction between naturalist and normativist approaches in the philosophy of medicine, taking into account both the material and the symbolic factors that shape the categories and determine the practices of medicine. Parasitic dinoflagellates of the genus Hematodinium are known to infect various marine crustaceans worldwide, especially crabs and several species of shrimp and lobster. Some of these species are new host species and components of commercial fishery products. These parasitic species are predominantly found in the hemolymph of the host and cause pathological changes and functional damage to organs and tissues, leading to death. In recent years, these parasites have infected important commercially valuable species, particularly in European waters, US waters, Australian waters, and recently in Shandong Peninsula in China. These Hematodinium pathogens were also reported to affect wild shrimp in Chinese waters and in the English North Sea. These rapid spreads affect crustacean aquaculture industries, where they are indeed a significant threat to the sustainability of the aquaculture of important crustaceans. The fishery products industries are also under pressure from the invasion of this pathogen, as the crab meat produced has a bitter taste, which may reduce its marketability. In response to these threats, this review was aimed at providing a broader understanding of the development of parasite distribution and ecological aspects of Hematodinium. In addition, the interaction of these pathogens with their hosts, the environmental drivers of Hematodinium disease, and future research perspectives were discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rosai Dorfman disease (RDD) is a non-Langerhans cell histiocytic neoplasm characterized by sinus histiocytosis with variable emperipolesis. There is a limited understanding of the factors that contribute to disease progression. Traditional management of RDD consists of local therapies (resection, radiation) for localized disease and myelosuppression for systemic disease; targeted medications have also recently been introduced into clinical practice as an additional therapeutic modality. The goals of this study are to compare the impact of targeted therapies to conventional management of RDD and identify trends in laboratory data that may provide insight into disease progression. A retrospective analysis was conducted at a single institution over a 20-year period in 35 adult patients with histopathologic evidence of RDD without confounding secondary malignancies. Clinical data points included laboratory evaluation, molecular diagnostics, imaging, and therapies rendered. Binary data was utilized for statistical analysis and comparison of outcomes by treatment type and utilization of targeted agents. Evaluation of treatment response varied based on anatomic disease sites and baseline imaging modality. To standardize the radiographic analysis, we included PERCIST (if PET was utilized) or RECIST assessments (in the cases of CT or MR imaging). Conventional therapies rendered included local treatment (surgery, radiation, intralesional injections), systemic corticosteroids, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy while targeted agents included only small molecule inhibitors. In this analysis, primary disease was identified in cutaneous, osseous, and CNS structures (17, 11, and 6/35 patients respectively). Management consisted of surgery (12/35 patients), steroid and myelosuppressive therapies (9/35 each), immunotherapy (5/35), and targeted molecular agents (5/35). In evaluating outcomes, the proportion of partial responses was substantially higher in recipients of molecular as compared to conventional therapy (4/5 patients compared to 6/29) while complete responses were more common in the conventional therapy cohort (12/29 compared to 1/5). Lastly, an evaluation of peripheral blood absolute monocytes in all patients who had progressed on therapy identified a significant decrease in pre-progression values as compared to values following therapy re-institution (averages of 0.70 and 0.27 K/µL, respectively; p = 0.0002, 95% CI 0.652–0.2360). Larger-scale studies are needed to further evaluate the relevance of the monocyte trends that were identified in terms of their relationship to disease status. This study is the largest analysis of Rosai Dorfman disease, that we are aware of, from a single institution. In this cohort, the utilization of small molecule inhibitors corresponded to a greater increase in partial responses than conventional therapies, although the opposite effect has been observed in complete responses. This finding can be attributed to the recent introduction of targeted agents and shorter follow-up. We anticipate higher complete response rates with the use of small molecule in ongoing analyses over a longer follow-up period. The recognition of relative monocyte elevation prior to disease progression is an intriguing and to our knowledge, novel finding in the field of Rosai Dorfman disease. The Eurasian beaver Castor fiber L., 1758, absent in Italy for over 500 years, has established reproductive populations in Central Italy since 2019, most likely following unauthorized releases. Besides positive effects on local biodiversity, beavers may host a plethora of infective agents, including parasites. Therefore, an assessment of parasitic load of released beavers is pivotal to predict potential risks for other species and human health, following beaver releases. Microscopical and molecular analyses on collected beaver feces confirmed the presence of Giardia duodenalis, Trichuris spp., and Travassosius rufus, a species of nematode recorded in Italy for the first time. The necropsy carried out on a road-killed adult female beaver provided us the first records for Italy of the beaver beetle Platypsyllus castoris, and of the ectoparasite "fur mites," belonging to the genus Schizocarpus. The bacterium Bordetella bronchiseptica was isolated for the first time from the bronchi of C. fiber, and it may represent a threat to wild and domestic animals and human health. The dipteran species Chrysomya albiceps was also recorded for the first time on a beaver; this blowfly can cause myiasis in livestock and humans. Although the acquired data represent a first assessment for Italy, the high number of pathogens found in these few samples should be evaluated in terms of disease risk analysis. Recently, the spread of white spot disease in shrimps has a major impact on the aquaculture activity worldwide affecting the economy of the countries, especially South-East Asian countries like Vietnam. This deadly disease in shrimps is caused by the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV). Researchers are trying to understand the spread and control of this disease by doing field and laboratory studies considering effect of environmental conditions on shrimps affected by WSSV. Generally, they have not considered spatial factors in their study. Therefore, in the present study, we have used spatial (distances to roads and factories) as well as physio-chemical factors of water: Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Salinity, NO3, P3O4 and pH, for developing WSSV susceptibility maps of the area using Decision Tree (DT)-based Machine Learning (ML) models namely Random Tree (RT), Extra Tree (ET), and J48. Model's performance was evaluated using standard statistical measures including Area Under the Curve (AUC). The results indicated that ET model has the highest accuracy (AUC: 0.713) in predicting disease susceptibility in comparison to other two models (RT: 0.701 and J48: 0.641). The WSSV susceptibility maps developed by the ML technique, using DT (ET) method, will help decision makers in better planning and control of spatial spread of WSSV disease in shrimps. Leaf rust (also called Brown rust) caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks severely reduces the grain yield of bread wheat and causes huge economic losses globally. Identification and development of wheat genotypes having resistance is only durable and ecofriendly solution to combat this devastating disease. Therefore, characterization of the 101 diverse panel of wheat genotypes was done to assess the resistance and diversity against leaf rust based on morphological parameters under natural field conditions. Field trials were conducted under Augmented Design during the two cropping seasons 2020-21 and 2021-22. Out of 101 genotypes, 09 genotypes (G10, G20, G28, G35, G55, G59, G69, G81 and G90) were found to be completely resistant, 63 genotypes were moderately resistant, 17 genotypes were moderately-susceptible to susceptible and 06 genotypes were susceptible to leaf rust. Ninety genotypes had Coefficient of Infection (CI) value between 0 and 20 exhibiting high resistance, 05 genotypes had CI value 21–40 and 06 genotypes had 41–100 CI value indicating moderate and low resistance respectively. Correlation analysis revealed that leaf rust significantly reduced the growth and yield of studied genotypes because the CI showed highly significant negative correlation with Spike Length (SL), Flag Leaf Area (FLA), Chlorophyll content index (CC), Spikelet per Spike (SS), Grain yield per Spike (GYS) and Thousand Grain Weight (TGW). The principal component analysis (PCA) showed that out of ten, three PCs had Eigenvalues greater than 01 which thus being significant contributed 53.84% of variations. This review provides a detailed description of the imaging features of cervical spondylotic myelopathy and radiculopathy, with a focus on MRI. Where relevant, we will outline grading systems of vertebral central canal and foraminal stenosis. Whilst post-operative appearances of the cervical spine are outside the scope of this paper, we will touch on imaging features recognised as predictors of clinical outcome and neurological recovery. Gangavati sona (GS) is a high-yielding, fine-grain rice variety widely grown in the Tungabhadra command area in Karnataka, India; however, it is susceptible to bacterial blight (BB). Therefore, the present study was conducted to improve the GS variety for BB resistance. Three BB-resistant genes (xa5, xa13, and Xa21) were introgressed into the genetic background of susceptible cultivar GS through marker-assisted backcrossing (MABB) by using Improved samba Mahsuri (ISM), a popular, high-yielding, bacterial blight resistant rice variety as a donor parent. Foreground selection was carried out using gene-specific markers, viz., xa5FM (xa5), xa13prom (xa13), and pTA248 (Xa21), while background selection was carried out using well-distributed 64 polymorphic microsatellite markers. The true heterozygote F1 was used as the male parent for backcrossing with GS to obtain BC1F1. The process was repeated in BC1F1 generation, and a BC2F1 plant (IGS-5-11-5) possessing all three target genes along with maximum recurrent parent genome (RPG) recovery (86.7%) was selfed to obtain BC2F2s. At BC2F2, a single triple gene homozygote plant (IGS-5-11-5-33) with 92.6% RPG recovery was identified and advanced to BC2F5 by a pedigree method. At BC2F5, the seven best entries were selected, possessing all three resistance genes with high resistance levels against bacterial blight, yield level, and grain quality features equivalent to better than GS. Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus is an opportunistic pathogen associated with disease in a range of domestic and wild animals. Despite its importance, very limited data is available on its survival and persistence on the environment. The goal of this study was to evaluate survival of S. zooepidemicus under ideal culture conditions and farm-like setting, in various surface types. Rubber, plastic, wood, and concrete samples were sterilized and inoculated with 109 CFU/mL of S. zooepidemicus with or without feces, and cultured under ideal conditions (37 °C, 5% CO2) or farm-like settings (20oC on air) for a maximum period of 25 days (n = 3/material/environment/feces-group/time-point). Under ideal conditions without feces, the bacterium survived for up to 17 days on plastic and rubber surfaces, 4 days on wood and less than 1 day on concrete (P < 0.05 between materials). Samples under ideal conditions with feces and farm-like settings without feces were negative by day 1 post-inoculation, regardless of the surface material used. Wood and concrete allowed S. zooepidemicus persistence for up to 3 days under farm-like settings when feces were present.
