Search

The nature of smart factories to help manufacturing firms reducing environmental emissions has attracted the widespread attention of governments and industries. However, some research also worried that if smart factories were not effectively constructed, they may increase firms' environmental emissions. To address this concern, we use PSM-progressive DID model to analyze the relationships between the construction of smart factories and environmental emissions, based on 144 Chinese listed manufacturing firms. The main findings are as follow. First, the construction of smart factories can lead to the short-term increase of 7.55% GHG emissions (1.001 tCO2e) and 4.12% air pollutants cost (1.011 $) per $M operation cost for firms. Second, the negative impact of smart factory construction on GHG emissions can be partially explained by physical technologies. Third, mimetic institution (industrial maturity of environment management system) can reduce the negative impact of smart factory construction, but coercive institution (government regulation) and normative institution (social media attention) have no significant moderating effect. With these findings, this study provides a clear understanding of how the construction of smart factories influences firms' environmental sustainability and accordingly offers insights for business considering environmental objectives in smart factory development. Background: It has been suggested that gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) alters the growth trajectory of a fetus and increases the risk of abnormal birth weight. In spite of this, there is still a significant debate regarding the mode and optimal timing of diagnosing this condition. Our aim was to determine fetal growth velocity and birth biometry in pregnant women with GDM at varying risk levels. Methods: We conducted a cohort study involving 1023 pregnant women at a maternity hospital in Ma'anshan, China. All women completed an oral glucose tolerance test at 24–28 weeks' gestation. We measured fetal head circumference (HC), femoral length (FL), abdominal circumference (AC), biparietal diameter (BPD), and estimate fetal weight (EFW) by ultrasound at 17, 24, 31, and 35 weeks' gestation, respectively. Results: Overall, 5115 ultrasound scans were performed. Among both low-risk and medium–high-risk pregnant women at 17–24 weeks' gestation, GDM exposure was associated with an increase in fetal growth velocity. Neonates born to women with GDM at medium–high risk had significantly larger birth weights than those born to women without GDM, while this was not observed in women at low risk. Conclusion: In medium–high-risk pregnant women, exposure to GDM has a greater effect on the fetus, leading to abnormal fetal growth velocity that lasts beyond week 24. It is evident from our results that the effects of GDM on fetal growth differ between medium–high-risk pregnant women and low-risk pregnant women, and therefore a different screening program based on the risk factor for GDM is warranted. Introduction: The choice between a cementless taper wedge stem and a fit-and-fill stem in total Hip arthroplasty (THA) for various proximal femoral morphological types has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study aimed to compare the risk of stem-related complications between these two stem types in Dorr type A, B, and C femurs. Materials and Methods: From January 2015 through April 2021, we retrospectively reviewed 1995 cementless THA procedures. We stratified all procedures into three groups: Dorr type A (N = 360, 18.0%), B (N = 1489, 74.7%) and C (N = 146, 7.3%). The primary outcome domain was stem-related complications, including stem subsidence ≥ 3 mm, intraoperative fracture, periprosthetic fracture and aseptic stem loosening. We performed multivariate regression analysis to compare the risk of stem-related complication between the two stem types. Other factors included age, sex, body mass index, diagnosis, age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index, stem alignment and canal fill ratio. Results: The incidence of stem-related complications in the taper wedge and fit-and-fill stem groups was 4.4% (N = 15) and 6.5% (N = 107), respectively. Fit-and-fill stems showed an increased risk of stem-related complications (aOR: 9.903, 95% CI: 1.567–62.597) only in Dorr type C femurs. No significant difference in risk was observed in Dorr type A and B femurs. Furthermore, the canal fill ratio at the lesser trochanter, 2 cm and 7 cm below the lesser trochanter, did not exhibit an association with stem-related complications in any Dorr type. Conclusions: Concerning the risk of stem-related complications, the taper wedge stem was a better choice in Dorr type C femurs. The theory of symplectic scalar fermion of LeClair and Neubert is studied. The theory evades the conventional spin-statistics theorem because its Hamiltonian is pseudo Hermitian. The definition of pseudo Hermiticity is examined in the interacting and the Heisenberg picture. For states that evolve under pseudo Hermitian Hamiltonians, we define the appropriate inner-product and matrix element of operators that preserve time translation symmetry. The resulting S-matrix is shown to satisfy the generalized unitarity relation. We clarify the derivation of the symplectic currents and charges. By demanding the currents and charges to be pseudo Hermitian, the global symmetry of the free Lagrangian density reduces from Sp(2, ℂ) to SU(2). Not all complete set of spinors can be used as expansion coefficients of a quantum field. In fact, Steven Weinberg established the uniqueness of Dirac spinors for this purpose provided: (a) one paid due attention to the multiplicative phases for each of the spinors, and (b) one paired these to creation and annihilation operators in a specific manner. This is implicit in his implementation of the rotational symmetry for the spin half quantum field. Among the numerous complete set of spinors that are available to a physicist, Elko occupies a unique status that allows it to enter as expansion coefficients of a quantum field without violating Weinberg's no go theorem. How this paradigm changing claim arises is the primary subject of this communication. Weinberg's no go theorem is evaded by exploiting a uniquely special feature of Elko that allows us to introduce a doubling of the particle-antiparticle degrees of freedom from four to eight. Weinberg had dismissed this degeneracy on the ground that, "no examples are known of particles that furnish unconventional representations of inversions." Here we will find that this degeneracy, once envisioned by Eugene Wigner, in fact gives rise to a quantum field that has all the theoretical properties required of dark matter. Structure-soil interface friction characteristics is of importance to investigate the interaction between engineering structures and soils, especially for offshore structures. The interface friction behavior between marine clay and structural materials with different roughness was studied in this paper by using 3D optical scanning tests, a modified direct shear device and numerical simulation. Relationships between the surface roughness of structures, water content and interface friction angle were presented by model tests. The increase of water contents decreased the interface friction angles. For interfaces with different roughness, the interface friction angles will be smaller than that of the soil when the water content exceeds a certain value. The roughness of the interface and the water content of the soil are mutually coupled to influence the coefficient of friction (COF). This paper proposed a Finite Element Method (FEM) to simulate the interface direct shear tests of structures with different roughness. The surface models with different roughness are established based on the structure data obtained by 3D scanning. The Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) approach was employed to analyse soils sheared by irregular surfaces. In this study, a muti-residue analysis method of 40 pesticides in five different categories of fruits in China was developed based on ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS). Five hundred real samples were analyzed and assessed for the dietary exposure risk. The sample treatment method was optimized by comparing four clean-up methods. The matrix effects of different fruits were evaluated. The analytical method was validated in terms of linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), accuracy, and precision. The results showed that the optimal method was the treatment by clean up with ODS (octadecylsilane) and MgSO4. The matrix effect was the strongest in orange and weakest in apple. The LOD and LOQ of pesticides were 0.04–5.9 μg kg−1 and 0.13–19.5 μg kg−1, respectively. The recoveries at three spiked levels were ranged from 71.2 to 115.2% with the RSDs from 0.1 to 19.6%. Twenty-two pesticides were detected in 500 fruit samples from the major production regions of China, with concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 1930 μg kg−1. A total of 13, 10, 9, 8, and 4 pesticides were detected in peach, orange, grape, apple, and strawberry. Both the acceptable daily intake (ADI) and acute reference dose (ARfD) for all the detected pesticides were lower than 100%, indicating that the dietary intake risks are acceptable and would not pose potential health risks. The two-way shape memory effect in a Ti–18.5Zr–10Nb–3.5Ta high-temperature shape memory alloy was investigated. X-ray diffraction measurement shows that the alloy is composed of orthorhombic α″-martensite. ω phase is not found in Ti–18.5Zr–10Nb–3.5Ta alloy due to the suppressing effect of Ta element. The α″-martensite laths are found in the transmission electron microscope observation; after the bending deformation, there appear a lot of dislocations. The alloy exhibits a shape memory strain of 3.8% and a high reverse martensite transformation start temperature of 464 K. The maximum two-way shape memory strain of 1.2% is obtained in the alloy with the pre-bending training strain of 10%. Introduction: Neutrophils are important participants in the innate immune response. They rapidly and efficiently identify and clear infectious agents by expressing large numbers of membrane receptors. Upon tissue injury or pathogen invasion, neutrophils are the first immune cells to reach the site of injury and participate in the inflammatory response. Materials and methods: A thorough search on PubMed related to neutrophil death or clearance pathways was performed. Conclusion: Inflammatory response and tissue damage can be aggravated when neutrophils are not removed rapidly from the site of injury. Recent studies have shown that neutrophils can be cleared through a variety of pathways, including non-inflammatory and inflammatory death, as well as reverse migration. Non-inflammatory death pathways include apoptosis and autophagy. Inflammatory death pathways include necroptosis, pyroptosis and NETosis. Dry eye disease (DED) is a common disorder of tear secretion on the ocular surface caused by multiple factors with dry eyes as the main symptom, but until now studies focusing on relationship between local meteorological factors and ocular surface diseases in Urumqi are very limited. Besides, the effects of long-term and extreme meteorological factors on DED and the lag effect have not been fully evaluated. Electronic case information of 9970 DED outpatients from the Ophthalmology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (Urumqi, Xinjiang, China) between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2020, was screened and analyzed. We used a time-series analysis design and a quasi-Poisson generalized linear regression model combined with a distributed lagged nonlinear model (DLNM) to fit the effects of exposure to different meteorological factors and extreme weather on DED outpatient visits. Subgroup analyses were further performed for gender, age, and season. The results showed that exposure to extremely low mean temperature (P1:RR = 1.18), atmospheric pressure (P1:RR = 1.11), and extremely high relative humidity (P99:RR = 1.35) were the risk factors, while extremely high atmospheric pressure (P90:RR = 0.883) and extremely low humidity (P10:RR = 0.856) appeared to have a positive effect on reduced risk of DED. Relative humidity exhibited a 1-day lag effect (RR = 1.06). Increased mean temperature positively affected female DED patients (RR = 0.761) with similar effects in the cold season (RR = 0.926). However, elevated relative humidity had a negative effect on female patients (RR = 1.14). We conducted the first large sample size time-series analysis study in this major city at the farthest distance from the ocean in the world and in northwest China, confirming the association of DED outpatient visits with the remaining three meteorological factors except wind speed in Urumqi, and a larger sample size multi-center epidemiological study with a longer duration is still needed. Two thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems comprising NiCoCrAlY bond coat onto a second-generation Ni-based single crystal superalloy and nanostructured 4 mol% Y2O3-stabilized ZrO2 (4YSZ) and conventional yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) top coats upwardly were deposited by approaches of arc ion plating (AIP) and air plasma spray (APS). As indicted by the experimental results, the 4YSZ TBCs exhibited superior thermal cycling resistance compared with conventional YSZ TBCs at 1100 °C. The 4YSZ top coat exhibited higher toughness due to its intrinsic property of nanocrystalline structure, homogeneously distributed and diverse directions of pores and preexisted cracks. The cracks and spallation in 4YSZ TBCs occurred at the interface of top coat and thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer. Instead, the crack initiation and propagation started along the lamellar interface in the top coat of conventional YSZ TBCs, leading to the rapid crack bridging and subsequent spalling of top coat. Additionally, before and after oxidation, the 4YSZ top coat showed higher hardness compared to conventional YSZ top coat. Some heavy metals are associated with periodontitis; whereas most of these associations have focused on individual metal, there are no specific studies on the effects of combined heavy metal exposure on periodontitis. We conducted an analysis on the association between urinary heavy metal exposure and periodontitis in participants aged 30 years and older using multiple logistic regression and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR). This analysis was performed on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2011 to 2014. The study found that using logistic regression, the 4th quartile of urinary lead and molybdenum and the 3rd quartile of urinary strontium were positively associated with periodontitis compared to the reference quartile after adjusting for covariates. Odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was 1.738 (1.069–2.826), 1.515 (1.025–2.239), and 1.498 (1.010–2.222), respectively. The 3rd and 4th quartiles of urinary cobalt were negatively associated with periodontitis, and their ORs and 95% CIs were 0.639 (0.438–0.934) and 0.571 (0.377–0.964), respectively. The BKMR model showed that urinary barium, lead, and molybdenum were positively associated with periodontitis in a range of concentrations and urinary cobalt, manganese, tin, and strontium were negatively correlated with periodontitis. Furthermore, the overall association between urinary heavy metals and periodontitis was positive. Our study provides evidence for an association between exposure to multiple urinary heavy metals and periodontitis. Background: Previous studies addressing the impact of environmental factors on TB prognosis are scarce, with only some studies examining the effect of particulate pollutants on TB mortality. Moreover, few studies have evaluated the effects of multiple gaseous pollutants and greenness exposures on newly treated TB patients on a large population scale. Methods: Through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, data were collected from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2020 for newly treated TB patients in Anhui Province, China. Data on gaseous pollutants sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone were collected through the National Earth System Science Data Center of China. Normalized vegetation index data were obtained through NASA. The Cox proportional risk model was also applied to calculate the hazard ratios of SO2, NO2, CO, O3, and NDVI with 95% confidence intervals for mortality among newly treated TB patients. Results: Multifactorial Cox regression analysis showed that for every 0.10 μg/m3 increase in SO2, the risk of death among newly treated TB patients increased by 13.2% (HR = 1.132, 95% CI: 1.045–1.1.225), for every 10 μg/m3 increase in NO2, the risk of death among newly treated TB patients increased by 11.4%, and for each 0.1 mg/m3 increase in CO, the risk of death among newly treated TB patients increased by 5.8%. For each 0.1 increase in NDVI 250m-buffer and 500m-buffer, the risk of death among newly treated TB patients decreased by 8.5% and 6.4%, respectively. The effect of gaseous pollutants on mortality decreased progressively with elevated greenness exposure when greenness exposure was grouped from low to high. Conclusion: Gaseous pollutants are a risk factor during the treatment of newly treated TB patients and greenness exposure is a protective factor. Public metabolites such as vitamins play critical roles in maintaining the ecological functions of microbial community. However, the biochemical and physiological bases for fine-tuning of public metabolites in the microbiome remain poorly understood. Here, we examine the interactions between myxobacteria and Phytophthora sojae, an oomycete pathogen of soybean. We find that host plant and soil microbes complement P. sojae's auxotrophy for thiamine. Whereas, myxobacteria inhibits Phytophthora growth by a thiaminase I CcThi1 secreted into extracellular environment via outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). CcThi1 scavenges the required thiamine and thus arrests the thiamine sharing behavior of P. sojae from the supplier, which interferes with amino acid metabolism and expression of pathogenic effectors, probably leading to impairment of P. sojae growth and pathogenicity. Moreover, myxobacteria and CcThi1 are highly effective in regulating the thiamine levels in soil, which is correlated with the incidence of soybean Phytophthora root rot. Our findings unravel a novel ecological tactic employed by myxobacteria to maintain the interspecific equilibrium in soil microbial community. The plant pathogen Phytophthora sojae requires exogenous thiamine for growth. Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive and devastating neurodegenerative disease marked by inheritable CAG nucleotide expansion. For offspring of HD patients carrying abnormal CAG expansion, biomarkers that predict disease onset are crucially important but still lacking. Alteration of brain ganglioside patterns has been observed in the pathology of patients carrying HD. Here, by using a novel and sensitive ganglioside-focused glycan array, we examined the potential of anti-glycan auto-antibodies for HD. In this study, we collected plasma from 97 participants including 42 control (NC), 16 pre-manifest HD (pre-HD), and 39 HD cases and measured the anti-glycan auto-antibodies by a novel ganglioside-focused glycan array. The association between plasma anti-glycan auto-antibodies and disease progression was analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. The disease-predictive capacity of anti-glycan auto-antibodies was further investigated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. We found that anti-glycan auto-antibodies were generally higher in the pre-HD group when compared to the NC and HD groups. Specifically, anti-GD1b auto-antibody demonstrated the potential for distinguishing between pre-HD and control groups. Moreover, in combination with age and the number of CAG repeat, the level of anti-GD1b antibody showed excellent predictability with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.95 to discriminate between pre-HD carriers and HD patients. To reduce the fire risk of air filter paper, a reactive ammonium phosphite flame retardant was synthesized and applied to the flame-retarding treatment of air filter paper. It was found that ammonium phosphite reacted with cellulose existing in filter paper fibers to form P–O–C bonds and remarkably improved the flame-retarding properties and thermal stability of the air filter paper. After modification of the air filter paper with 30 wt% of ammonium phosphite, its limiting oxygen index value reached 39.5%, which remained at 29.6% after 4 h of the dipping test. The heat release rate and total heat release rate of the treated air filter paper decreased significantly, and the carbon residual amounts at 700 °C in the nitrogen atmosphere and in air reached 43.96% and 16.35%, respectively. During thermal decomposition, ammonium phosphite played a flame-retarding role in both condensed and gas phases. Moreover, ammonium phosphite, as a flame retardant, had no obvious influence on the physical properties and filtration performance of the air filter paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([Bmim][Dca]) is a novel solvent suitable for a wide range of applications in the petrochemical industry. However, the thermal safety of [Bmim][Dca] IL has not been fully considered when developing new uses, especially in areas involving high-temperature work. Starting from the initial decomposition temperature of [Bmim][Dca] IL, this article tries to find the highest temperature suitable for its intrinsic safety and provides a basis for its industrial production. The thermal stability of [Bmim][Dca] IL and its pyrolysis gas detection were obtained by simultaneous thermogravimetric analyser (STA) and thermogravimetric analysis coupled with Fourier infrared spectroscopy (TG-FTIR), respectively. Furthermore, the constant temperature experiments by STA show that the mass loss of [Bmim][Dca] IL at a specific temperature for 10 h is approximately 2% at 160 °C, about 15% at 190 °C, and more than 30% at 210 °C. The mass loss in the dynamic heating experiment is divided into two steps at each heating rate. The pyrolysis gas detection experiments by TG-FTIR show that extremely toxic gas such as HCN will be produced at 154 °C (T0.01/10 h). The real-time photography system by STA observed significant colour changes in samples at this temperature. Therefore, extrapolated temperature (TMOT,10 h,e) was defined to obtain a more accurate maximum operation temperature. Comparative experimental results show that the TMOT,10 h,e obtained by the extrapolation method has high reliability. Conjunctivitis is an inflammatory disease of the conjunctival tissue caused by a variety of causes; despite the conjunctiva being directly exposed to the external atmospheric environment, the important role of air pollution is not fully evaluated, especially in areas with poor air quality undergoing rapid economic and industrial development. Information on 59,731 outpatient conjunctivitis visits from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2020 was obtained from the Ophthalmology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (Urumqi, Xinjiang, China), and data on six air pollutants including particulate matter with a median aerometric diameter of less than 10 and 2.5 mm (PM10 and PM2.5, respectively), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3) from eleven standard urban background fixed air quality monitors were also recorded. A time-series analysis design and a quasi-Poisson generalized linear regression model combined with a distributed lagged nonlinear model (DLNM) were used to fit the effect of exposure to air pollutants on the risk of conjunctivitis outpatient visits. Further subgroup analyses were conducted for gender, age, and season, as well as the type of conjunctivitis. Single and multi-pollutant models showed that exposure to PM2.5, PM10, NO2, CO, and O3 was associated with increased risk of outpatient conjunctivitis visits on the lag 0 day and various other lag days. Variations in the effect estimates on direction and magnitude were found in different subgroup analyses. We conducted the first time-series analysis with the longest duration as well as the largest sample size in Northwest China, which provides evidence that outpatient conjunctivitis visits is significantly associated with air pollution in Urumqi, China. Meanwhile, our results demonstrate the effectiveness of SO2 reduction in reducing the risk of outpatient conjunctivitis visits in the Urumqi region and reaffirm the need to implement special air pollution control measures. Studies of laser-driven strong field processes subjected to a (quasi-)static field have been mainly confined to theory. Here we provide an experimental realization by introducing a bichromatic approach for high harmonic generation (HHG) in a dielectric that combines an intense 70 femtosecond duration mid-infrared driving field with a weak 2 picosecond period terahertz (THz) dressing field. We address the physics underlying the THz field induced static symmetry breaking and its consequences on the efficient production/suppression of even-/odd-order harmonics, and demonstrate the ability to probe the HHG dynamics via the modulation of the harmonic distribution. Moreover, we report a delay-dependent even-order harmonic frequency shift that is proportional to the time derivative of the THz field. This suggests a limitation of the static symmetry breaking interpretation and implies that the resultant attosecond bursts are aperiodic, thus providing a frequency domain probe of attosecond transients while opening opportunities in precise attosecond pulse shaping. Long-term respirator users admitted to intensive care units need to be transferred to a respiratory care center (RCC) for weaning. It may cause malnutrition in critical care patients, which may manifest as a reduction in respiratory muscle mass, lower ventilatory capacity, and decreased respiratory tolerance. This study aimed to assess that if the patients' nutritional status were improved, it could help RCC patients to wean from respirators. All participants were recruited from the RCC of a medical foundation in the city and Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital. The indicators include serum albumin level, respirator detachment index, maximum inspiratory pressure (PImax), rapid shallow breathing index, and body composition measurements. We recorded the length of hospital stay, mortality, and RCW (respiratory care ward) referral rate for these participants and analyzed the differences in relevant research indicators between those who were and weren't weaned off. 43 of 62 patients were weaned from respirators, while 19 failed. The resuscitation rate was 54.8%. Patients with respirator weaning had a lower number of RCC admission days (23.1 ± 11.1 days) than respirator-dependent patients (35.6 ± 7.8 days, P < 0.05). The PImax of successfully weaned patients had a greater reduction (− 27.09 ± 9.7 cmH2O) than unsuccessful ones (− 21.4 ± 10.2 cmH2O, P < 0.05). The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scores of successfully weaned patients (15.8 ± 5.0) were lower than those who were not (20.4 ± 8.4, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in serum albumin levels between the two groups. In the successfully weaned patients, the serum albumin concentration was increased from 2.2 ± 0.3 to 2.5 ± 0.4 mg/dL, P < 0.05. Conjunctivitis is a common multifactorial inflammatory ocular surface disease characterized by symptoms such as congestion, edema, and increased secretion of conjunctival tissue, and the potential effects of meteorological factors as well as extreme meteorological factors on conjunctivitis and their lagging effects have not been fully evaluated. We obtained the electronic case information of 59,731 outpatients with conjunctivitis from the Ophthalmology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (Urumqi, Xinjiang, China) for the period from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2020. Meteorological data for daily mean temperature (°C), daily relative humidity (%), daily average wind speed (m/s), and atmospheric pressure (hPa) were obtained from the China Meteorological Data Sharing Service. The air pollutant data were obtained from 11 standard urban background fixed air quality monitors. A time-series analysis design and a quasi-Poisson generalized linear regression model combined with a distributed lagged nonlinear model (DLNM) were used to fit the effects of exposure to different meteorological factors and extreme weather on conjunctivitis outpatient visits. Subgroup analyses were performed on gender, age and season, and type of conjunctivitis. Univariate and multifactorial model results indicated that each 10-unit increase in mean temperature and relative humidity was associated with an increased risk of conjunctivitis outpatient visits, while each 10-unit increase in atmospheric pressure was associated with a decreased risk. The results of the extreme weather analysis suggested that extremely low levels of atmospheric pressure and relative humidity as well as extreme levels of temperature were associated with an increased risk of outpatient conjunctivitis visits, and extreme wind speeds were associated with a decreased risk. The results of the subgroup analysis suggested gender, age, and seasonal differences. We conducted the first large sample size time-series analysis in the large city furthest from the ocean in the world and confirmed for the first time that elevated mean temperature and extreme low levels of relative humidity in Urumqi were risk factors for local conjunctivitis outpatient visits, while elevated atmospheric pressure and extreme low levels of wind speed were protective factors, and there were lagged effects of temperature and atmospheric pressure. Some previous studies had linked air pollutants and greenness to the risk of death from tuberculosis (TB). Only a few studies had examined the effect of particulate matter (PM2.5) on the mortality of TB, and few studies had assessed the impact and interaction of multiple air pollutants and greenness on the mortality of newly treated TB patients. The study included 29,519 newly treated TB patients from three cities in Anhui province. We collected meteorological data and five pollutants data from The National Meteorological Science Center and air quality monitoring stations. Greenness data were generated by remote sensing inversion of medium-resolution satellite images. We geocoded each patient based on the residential address to calculate the average exposure to air pollutants and the average greenness exposure for each patient during treatment. The Cox proportional risk regression model was used to evaluate the effects of air pollutants and greenness on mortality in newly treated tuberculosis patients. Our results found that the higher the concentration of air pollutants in the living environment of newly treated TB patients, the greater the risk of death: HR 1.135 (95% CI: 1.123–1.147) and HR 1.333 (95% CI: 1.296–1.370) per 10 μg/m3 of PM2.5 and SO2, respectively. Greenness reduced the mortality among newly treated TB patients: HR for NDVI exposure 0.936 (95% CI: 0.925–0.947), HR for NDVI_250m exposure 0.927 (95% CI: 0.916–0.938), and HR for NDVI_500m exposure 0.919 (95% CI: 0.908–0.931). Stratifying the cohort by median greenness exposure, HRs for air pollutants were lower in the high greenness exposure group. Mortality in newly treated TB patients is influenced by air pollutants and greenness. Higher green exposure can mitigate the effects of air pollution. Urine albumin concentration and albumin–creatinine ratio are important for the screening of early-stage kidney damage. Commutable urine certified reference materials (CRMs) for albumin and creatinine are necessary for standardization of urine albumin and accurate measurement of albumin–urine ratio. Two urine CRMs for albumin and creatinine with certified values determined using higher-order reference measurement procedures were evaluated for their commutability on five brands/models of clinical analyzers where different reagent kits were used, including Roche Cobas c702, Roche Cobas c311, Siemens Atellica CH, Beckman Coulter AU5800, and Abbott Architect c16000. The commutability study was conducted by measuring at least 26 authentic patient urine samples and the human urine CRMs using both reference measurement procedures and the routine methods. Both the linear regression model suggested by the Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) guidelines and log-transformed model recommended by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Commutability Working Group were used to evaluate the commutability of the human urine CRMs. The commutability of the human urine CRMs was found to be generally satisfactory on all five clinical analyzers for both albumin and creatinine, suggesting that they are suitable to be used routinely by clinical laboratories as quality control or for method validation of urine albumin and creatinine measurements. Odontogenic rhinosinusitis is a subtype of rhinosinusitis associated with dental infection or dental procedures and has special bacteriologic features. Previous research on the bacteriologic features of odontogenic rhinosinusitis has mainly used culture-dependent methods. The variation of microbiota between odontogenic and nonodontogenic rhinosinusitis as well as the interplay between the involved bacteria have not been explored. Therefore, we enrolled eight odontogenic rhinosinusitis cases and twenty nonodontogenic rhinosinusitis cases to analyze bacterial microbiota through 16S rRNA sequencing. Significant differences were revealed by the Shannon diversity index (Wilcoxon test p = 0.0003) and PERMANOVA test based on weighted UniFrac distance (Wilcoxon test p = 0.001) between odontogenic and nonodontogenic samples. Anaerobic bacteria such as Porphyromonas, Fusobacterium, and Prevotella were significantly dominant in the odontogenic rhinosinusitis group. Remarkably, a correlation between different bacteria was also revealed by Pearson's correlation. Staphylococcus was highly positively associated with Corynebacterium, whereas Fusobacterium was highly negatively correlated with Prophyromonas. According to our results, the microbiota in odontogenic rhinosinusitis, predominantly anaerobic bacteria, was significantly different from that in nonodontogenic rhinosinusitis, and the interplay between specific bacteria may a major cause of this subtype of rhinosinusitis. Due to the wide-spread use of geo-positioning technologies and geo-social networks, the reverse top-k geo-social keyword query has attracted considerable attention from both industry and research communities. A reverse top-k geosocial keyword (RkGSK) query finds the users who are spatially near, textually similar, and socially relevant to a specified point of interest. RkGSK queries are useful in many real-life applications. For example, they can help the query issuer identify potential customers in marketing decisions. However, the query constraints could be too strict sometimes, making it hard to find any result for the RkGSK query. The query issuers may wonder how to modify their original queries to get a certain number of query results. In this paper, we study non-answer questions on reverse top-k geo-social keyword queries (NARGSK). Given an RkGSK query and the required number M of query results, NARGSK aim to find the refined RkGSK query having M users in its result set. To efficiently answer NARGSK, we propose two algorithms (ERQ and NRG) based on query relaxation. As this is the first work to address NARGSK to the best of our knowledge, ERQ is the baseline extended from the state-of-the-art method, while NRG further improves the efficiency of ERQ. Extensive experiments using real-life datasets demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed algorithms, and the performance of NRG is improved by a factor of 1–2 on average compared with ERQ. As a new solvent with a broad prospect, ionic liquids (ILs) are widely used in catalysis, organic synthesis, and electrochemistry due to their peculiar physical and chemical properties. Nonetheless, their safety issues are often overlooked. This paper aims to decode the thermal reaction and decomposition hazard characteristics of ILs with an innovative method. Initially, the results of the thermal stability study of 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([BMIM]DCN) using non-isothermal thermogravimetric and adiabatic analysis show that the decomposition process of [BMIM]DCN can be divided into three stages. By employing the Flynn–Wall–Ozawa and Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose methods, the apparent activation energy of decomposition was calculated and the stability of [BMIM]DCN was compared with structure-similar ILs (with the same imidazole cation). To predict the mechanism of [BMIM]DCN decomposition in the early stage, the products of the [BMIM]DCN under temperature-programmed conditions were analyzed by TG-FTIR, and a huge amount of toxic gases were detected in its decomposition products. In adiabatic tests, there is a sharp increase in pressure at about 382 °C, and the pressure of the system increases by about 12 times within 0.2 s. Furthermore, product analysis results show that the danger of the thermal decomposition of [BMIM]DCN is mainly due to the rapid pressure rise and toxicity caused by the massive gas products, such as HCN and NH3. The findings of this study can be used to develop thermal stability prediction models for similar ILs and provide the necessary foundation for the design and selection of precise processing methods and appropriate safety systems. The rare incidence of mitral regurgitation (MR) caused by mitral valve prolapse in children lacks clinical management experience. In this study, we present our experience in surgical management and the difference between isolated anterior mitral leaflet (AML), posterior mitral leaflet (PML), and bileaflet prolapse in pediatric patients. Between January 2014 and February 2021, 52 pediatric patients, aged 7.04 ± 4.02 years (ranged from 0.17 to 14 years), were diagnosed as moderately severe (11, 21.2%) or severe (41, 78.8%) MR, of which, 34 (65.4%) were owing to AML prolapse, one (1.9%) was PML prolapse, and 17 (32.7%) caused by bileaflet prolapse. All had received mitral valve repair, and were divided into the group of AML prolapse and bileaflet prolapse. Demographic and clinical characteristics of all patients were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The left ventricular diameter in the bileaflet group was significantly larger than the AML group (4.04 ± 0.73 cm vs. 3.45 ± 0.75 cm, P = 0.026). The median follow-up time was 33 months (ranged from 6 to 88 months). The postoperative and follow-up results had no significant difference between two groups. And only 2 patients received reoperation due to posterior annuloplasty ring dehiscence. For pediatric patients, the majority of the patients had isolated AML prolapse instead of PML prolapse. There was no difference in recurrent regurgitation or reoperation between isolated AML and bileaflet prolapse after MV repair, and we suggest more aggressive surgical strategy should be considered in pediatric patients with bileaflet prolapse than AML prolapse. Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism of action of bufalin in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) drug-resistant cell lines. Methods: The normal human mammary epithelial cell line, TNBC cell line, TNBC adriamycin-resistant cell line, and TNBC docetaxel-resistant cell line were treated with different doses of bufalin (0–1,000 nmol/L) at different time points (0–72 h). Propidium iodide staining, AV-FITC/PI double staining, Hoechst 33342/PI double staining and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to evaluate the death patterns of the cell lines. Results: Bufalin killed the TNBC cell line and its drug-resistant cell lines in a dose/time-dependent manner (all P<0.01). After treatment with bufalin for 24 h, the adriamycin-resistant cell line showed a co-existing pattern of necroptosis and apoptosis. However, at 48 h, necroptosis was the main manifestation. After treatment with bufalin, the expressions of tumor necrosis factor α, phospho-tumor necrosis factor receptor 1, phospho-receptor interacting protein 1 and c-caspase 3 increased (all P<0.01), the killing effect of bufalin could be mostly inhibited by NEC-1, and by z-VAD-fmk (both P<0.01). Besides, the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels increased considerably (P<0.01), the antioxidant N-acetyl cysteine or Nec-1 could inhibit the increase of ROS level and the killing effect of bufalin (all P<0.01). The adriamycin-resistant cell line exhibited necroptosis characteristic after 48 h of bufalin treatment under TEM. Conclusions: Bufalin could induce necroptosis through RIP1/ROS-mediated pathway to kill the drug-resistant TNBC cell lines. Traffic noise has attracted much attention as a significant and intractable public health threat. This study was designed as a systematical review to explore the association of traffic noise with different indicators of obesity, thus providing updated quantitative estimates for the pooled effect estimates of the existing literature. We conducted an extensive search for epidemiological studies that investigated the association of traffic noise with obesity in three electronic databases till February 23, 2021. We used random-effects meta-analysis to calculate the summary effect estimates for each 10-dB(A) increase in noise and compared the highest with the lowest category of noise in relation to seven obesity indicators. Meanwhile, we assessed the risk of bias and the overall quality of the evidence of each study as well as the level of evidence for each exposure–outcome pair. The initial search identified 30 studies, 13 of which were ultimately included. The meta-analysis for the highest versus the lowest category of noise exposure was generally associated with higher waist circumfluence (WC) ranging from 0.326 cm (95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.078, 0.574) to 0.705 cm (95% CI = 0.071, 1.340) and higher odds of central obesity ranging from 1.055 (95% CI = 1.000, 1.109) to 1.167 (95% CI = 1.037, 1.298). When the continuous exposure (each 10 dB(A) increase in noise) was introduced, similar results were found. This study indicated positive associations of traffic noise with WC and central obesity. However, in consideration of some limitations, there is an urgent need for future studies to increase the sample size, discriminate the etiological differences in different noise and obesity indicators, and thoroughly consider socioeconomic status. A growing number of biological studies suggest that exogenous sulfur dioxide (SO2) at a certain concentration may promote human resistance to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, the results of most relevant studies are inconsistent, and few studies have explored the relationship between SO2 exposure and tuberculosis risk at provincial level. In addition, occupational exposure has long been considered to have a certain impact on the human body, so for the first time, we discussed the differences between different occupations in the study on the relationship between air pollutant exposure and tuberculosis risk, and evaluated the impact of occupational exposure. This study aimed to explore the association between short-term SO2 exposure and the risk of outpatient visits to tuberculosis in Anhui province and 16 prefecture-level cities from 2015 to 2020. We used several models for multi-stage analysis, including distributed lag nonlinear model (DLNM), Poisson generalized linear regression model, and random-effects model. The association was assessed using the 28-day cumulative lag effect RR and 95%CI for each 10-unit increase in SO2 concentration. We divided all patients into the following six occupations: Worker, Farmer, Retired people, Children and Students, Cadre and Office clerk, and Service staff (catering, business, etc.). Sex, age, and season were analyzed by subgroup. Finally, the robustness of the multi-pollutant model was tested. At provincial level, the overall effect value of SO2 was RR=0.8191 (95%CI: 07702~0.8712); after grouping all patients by occupation, the association found only among Farmers (RR = 0.7150, 95%CI: 0.6699–0.7632, lag 0–28 days) and Workers (RR = 0.8566, 95%CI: 0.7930–0.9930, lag 0–4 days) was still statistically significant. Estimates for individual cities and using random-effects models to estimate average associations showed that SO2 exposure was associated with a reduced risk of outpatient TB visits in 14 municipalities, which remained significant when aggregated (RR = 0.9030, 95%CI: 0.8730–0.9340). Analysis of patients grouped by occupation in each municipality showed that statistical significance was again observed only in the Farmer (RR = 0.8880, 95%CI: 0.8610–0.9160) and Worker (RR = 0.8250, 95%CI: 0.7290–0.9340) groups. Stratified analysis of age, sex, and season showed that the effect of SO2 exposure was greater for middle-aged people (18–64 years old) and males, and less for seasonal changes. In summary, we found that exposure to SO2 reduces the risk of outpatient visits to tuberculosis, with farmers and workers more susceptible to SO2. Electrical switching of antiferromagnets is an exciting recent development in spintronics, which promises active antiferromagnetic devices with high speed and low energy cost. In this emerging field, there is an active debate about the mechanisms of current-driven switching of antiferromagnets. For heavy-metal/ferromagnet systems, harmonic characterization is a powerful tool to quantify current-induced spin-orbit torques and spin Seebeck effect and elucidate current-induced switching. However, harmonic measurement of spin-orbit torques has never been verified in antiferromagnetic heterostructures. Here, we report harmonic measurements in Pt/α-Fe2O3 bilayers, which are explained by our modeling of higher-order harmonic voltages. As compared with ferromagnetic heterostructures where all current-induced effects appear in the second harmonic signals, the damping-like torque and thermally-induced magnetoelastic effect contributions in Pt/α-Fe2O3 emerge in the third harmonic voltage. Our results provide a new path to probe the current-induced magnetization dynamics in antiferromagnets, promoting the application of antiferromagnetic spintronic devices. Harmonic measurements have been used extensively in ferromagnetic/heavy metal heterostructures to characterize the magnetization dynamic; however, it has remained unclear about whether such techniques could be applied to antiferromagnetic devices. In order to study the structural stability of the disc-buckle type formwork support, the multi-parameter experimental analysis of the disc-buckle type formwork support structure was carried out by using experimental and finite element analysis method. The influence parameters of working conditions, lift height, diagonal bracing and sleeve on the structural stability bearing capacity was mainly considered. The regularity of the buckling direction of the vertical pole, the stress at each typical position on the vertical pole and the axial force of the vertical pole was studied based on the experimental results. Based on the characteristics of semi-rigid connection joints, the correctness of the experimental results was verified by finite element analysis, and the results show that reducing lift height and arranging diagonal bracing have remarkable influence on improving the structural stability bearing capacity. The usage of sleeves has little influence on the structural stability, and the corner pole was the worst position of the overall structural stability. The factors of working conditions and diagonal bracing have the remarkable influence on the buckling direction of the vertical pole. The factor of working condition has the most obvious influence on the stress uniformity of the vertical pole. The axial force of the vertical pole in the disc-buckle type formwork support structure presented a relatively uniform state from bottom to top in the loading process. The arrangement of diagonal bracing and the usage of sleeves have an influence on the uniformity of the axial force of the vertical pole. Compared with the finite element results, the error of the structural stability bearing capacity was within 6%, indicated that the finite element can accurately simulate the structural stability bearing capacity. Medulloblastoma is a malignant tumor with high incidence and poor prognosis in adolescents and children. MicroRNA-137 (miR-137) has been found to be abnormally expressed in cancers such as pancreatic cancer. The purpose of this study is to explore the expression of miR-137 in MB and its role in cell physiological activities to determine the significance of miR-137 in the prognosis of MB. First, the expression of miR-137 in MB tissues and cell lines was analyzed by qRT-PCR. Then the Kaplan–Meier survival curve was used to analyze the significance of miR-137 expression in the prognosis, and the Cox regression model was used to explore the correlation between miR-137 expression and clinical characteristics. The effects of miR-137 on MB cell activities were analyzed by MTT assay, Transwell assays, and flow cytometry. It can be concluded from the results that the expression of miR-137 is down-regulated in MB tissues and cells. The down-regulation of miR-137 was significantly related to the poor prognosis of MB, and significantly related to clinical indicators. Up-regulated miR-137 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell cycle progression, as well as induced cell apoptosis by targeting KDM1A. There is growing evidence that air pollution plays a role in TB, and most studies have been conducted in the core countries with inconsistent results. Few studies have comprehensively included the six common air pollutants, so they cannot consider whether various pollutants interact with each other. Our objectives were to investigate the association between short-term exposure to six common air pollutants and the risk of tuberculosis outpatient visits in Fuyang, China, 2015–2020. We combined the two models to explore the effects of exposure to six air pollutants on the risk of tuberculosis outpatient visits, including the Poisson generalized linear regression model and distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM). We performed stratified analyses for the season, type of cases, gender, and age. We used the lag-specific relative risks and cumulative relative risk obtained by increasing pollutant concentration by per 10 units to evaluate the connection between six air pollutants and TB; PM2.5 (RR = 1.0018, 95% CI: 1.0004–1.0032, delay of 12 days) and SO2 (RR = 1.0169, 95% CI: 1.0007–1.0333, lag 0–16 days) were 0.9549 (95% CI: 0.9389–0.9712, lag 0 day) and 0.8212 (95% CI: 0.7351–0.9173, 0–20-day lag). Stratified analyses showed that seasonal differences had a greater impact on TB, males were more likely to develop TB than females, older people were more likely to develop TB than younger people, and air pollution had a great impact on new cases. Exposure to O3, CO, PM10, PM2.5, and NO2 increases the risk of TB outpatient visits, except SO2 which reduces the risk. The incidence of TB has seasonal fluctuations. It is necessary for the government to establish a sound environmental monitoring and early warning system to strengthen the monitoring and emission management of pollutants in the atmosphere. Management, prevention, and treatment measures should be developed for high-risk groups (males and older people), reducing the risk of TB by reducing their specific behaviors and changing their lifestyle. Probing the fracture toughness of brittle materials by measuring the crack-length generated from indentation experiments is often practiced in many areas of materials research. However, when the cracks are too small to be measured accurately, an energy-based approach has recently been proposed by several researchers. We found that the energy-based method and crack-length method yield significantly different results for all materials but converge if the energy method is modified with a correction factor. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been largely dependent on retrospective cine for data acquisition. Real-time imaging, although inferior in image quality to retrospective cine, is more informative about motion dynamics. We herein developed a real-time cardiac MRI approach to temporospatial characterization of left ventricle (LV) and right ventricle (RV) wall motion. This approach provided two temporospatial indices, temporal periodicity and spatial coherence, for quantitative assessment of ventricular function. In a cardiac MRI study, we prospectively investigated temporospatial characterization in reference to standard volumetric measurements with retrospective cine. The temporospatial indices were found to be effective for evaluating the difference of ventricular performance between the healthy volunteers and the heart failure (HF) patients (LV temporal periodicity 0.24 ± 0.037 vs. 0.14 ± 0.021; RV temporal periodicity 0.18 ± 0.030 vs. 0.10 ± 0.014; LV spatial coherence 0.52 ± 0.039 vs. 0.38 ± 0.040; RV spatial coherence 0.50 ± 0.036 vs. 0.35 ± 0.035; all in arbitrary unit). The HF patients and healthy volunteers were well differentiated in the scatter plots of spatial coherence and temporal periodicity while they were mixed in those of end-systolic volume (ESV) and ejection fraction (EF) from volumetric measurements. Montmorillonite (MMT) clays are important industrial materials used as catalysts, chemical sorbents and fillers in polymer–clay nanocomposites. The layered structure of these clays has motivated research into further applications of these low-cost materials, including use as ion exchange media and solid-state ionic conductors. In these applications, the mechanical properties of MMT are key when considering long-term, reliable performance. Previous studies have focused on the mechanical properties of nanocomposites with MMT as the minority component or pure MMT thin films. In this work, the microstructure and mechanical properties of pure MMT and majority MMT/polyethylene composites pressed into dense pellets are examined. Characterization methods such as X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy together with nanoindentation reveal important structure–property relationships in the clay-based materials. Utilizing these techniques, we have discovered that MMT processing impacts the layered microstructure, chemical stability and, critically, the elastic modulus and hardness of bulk MMT samples. Particularly, the density of the pellets and the ordering of the clay platelets within them strongly influence the elastic modulus and hardness of the pellets. By increasing pressing force or by incorporating secondary components, the density, and therefore mechanical properties, can be increased. If the layered structure of the clay is destroyed by exfoliation, the mechanical properties will be compromised. In cardiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides a clinical standard for measuring ventricular volumes. Owing to their reliability, volumetric measurements with cardiac MRI have become an essential tool for quantitative assessment of ventricular function. However, as volumetric indices are indirectly related to myocardial motion that drives ventricular filling and ejection, cardiac MRI cannot provide comprehensive evaluation of ventricular performance. To overcome this limitation, the presented work sought to measure ventricular wall motion directly with optical flow analysis of real-time cardiac MRI. By modeling left ventricle (LV) walls in real-time images based on myocardial architecture, we developed an optical flow approach to analyzing LV radial and circumferential wall motion for improved quantitative assessment of ventricular function. For proof-of-concept, a cardiac MRI study was conducted with healthy volunteers and heart failure (HF) patients. It was found that, as real-time images provided sufficient temporal information for correlation analysis between different LV wall motion velocity components, optical flow assessment detected the difference of ventricular performance between the HF patients and the healthy volunteers more effectively than volumetric measurements. We expect that this model-based optical flow assessment with real-time cardiac MRI would offer intricate analysis of ventricular function beyond conventional volumetric measurements. Gesture biometrics sensors will be extremely helpful for constructing a gesture-based application system. Compared with traditional acoustic sensor-based speech recognition applications and RGB image sensor-based surveillance applications, proper utilizations of the gesture biometrics sensor will absolutely be able to create an innovative and practical application and speed up the maturity of gesture recognition. Currently, three well-known gesture biometrics sensor platforms are Kinect, Leap Motion, and Myo. Kinect and Leap motion sensor devices belong to the categorization of 3D image sensors, containing both RGB and depth sensors. Myo armband is categorized into the type of wearable sensor devices. Nowadays, related studies on application system establishments using Kinect, Leap Motion, or Kinect have been frequently seen in the recent years. However, most of all these related gesture-based application systems are designed for end users. Extremely few investigations using these popular gesture biometrics sensors are done specifically for the system developer of a gesture-based application system. In fact, a correct and proper adoption of the gesture biometric sensor platform will speed up the development of the desired system and increase the practicality of the designed system. In this paper, a recommendation scheme of Kinect, Leap Motion, and Myo sensor platforms is presented for supporting developments of a mid-air gesture application. Compared with the conventional application system design procedure, the presented sensor recommendation scheme incorporated between two stages of functional operation and system design specifications will have a great help to the system developer to establish his desired system. In addition, a case study on system developments of efficient web-based streaming media control by disabled persons using the presented sensor platform recommendation scheme is also reported in this paper. Breast cancer is a complex and multifactorial disease which stems significantly from both environmental and genetic factors. A growing number of epidemiological studies have suggested that ambient air pollution (AAP) exposure may play an important role in breast cancer development. However, no consistency has been reached concerning whether high levels of air pollutant exposure were related to increased breast cancer risk among the current evidence. To further clarify such association of long-term AAP exposure with risk of breast cancer, a systematic review and meta-analysis of available evidence was performed. An extensive literature search in 3 academic databases was conducted before March 10, 2020. The risk of bias (RoB) for each individual study was evaluated with a domain-based assessment tool, developed by the National Toxicology Program/Office of Health Assessment and Translation (NTP/OHAT). Meta-estimates for air pollutant–breast cancer combinations were calculated for a standardized increment in exposure by random-effect models. The confidence level in the body of evidence and the certainty of evidence was also assessed for each air pollutant–breast cancer combination. The initial search identified 5446 studies, and 18 of them were eligible. The pooled analysis found an increased risk of breast cancer was associated with an increase in each 10 μg/m3 in nitrogen dioxide (NO2) exposure (hazard ratio (HR) = 1.02, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.01, 1.04), while particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters ≤ 2.5 μm and 10 μm (PM2.5, PM10) revealed no statistically significant associations with breast cancer risk. Our evaluation on the certainty of evidence indicates that there was a "moderate level of evidence" in the body of evidence for an association of NO2 exposure with an increased breast cancer risk and an "inadequate level of evidence" in the body of evidence for an association of PM2.5 and PM10 exposure with an increased breast cancer risk. Our study suggests long-term exposure to NO2 is related to an increased risk of breast cancer. However, in consideration of the limitations, further studies, especially performed in developing countries, with improvements in exposure assessment, outcome ascertainment, and confounder adjustment, are needed to draw a definite evidence of a causal relationship. It is well known that the mainly strategy for Radar Cross Section (RCS) reduction is absorbing, beam deflecting or diffusing. A lot of research has been conducted on RCS reduction basing on one or multiple mechanisms above. In this paper, a new RCS reduction strategy of synergy of absorbing and anomalous reflection or diffusing is proposed. Different from the conventional compound RCS reduction strategy, our Spin-selectivity absorbing Coding Metasurface (SACM) could be realized merely via rotating one designed spin-selectivity absorbing (SA) unit-cell. This SA unit-cell co-polarizatin reflects left handle circular polarization and absorbs right handle circular polarization wave. Based on Pancharatnam-Berry phase, the SACMs were designed for RCS reduction by the synergy of absorbing with reflection deflecting, and absorbing with diffusing, respectively. And the mono-static and bi-static RCS reduction characteristics of SACMs were specifically analyzed. Good agreement between experimental and simulation results confirms the excellent performance of the SACMs on mono-static and bi-static RCS reduction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Photonic hooks have demonstrated to be great candidates for multiple applications ranging from sensing up to optical trapping. In this work, we propose a mechanism to produce such bent structured light beams by exploiting the diffraction and scattering generated by a pair of dielectric rectangles immersed in free space. It is shown how the photonic hooks are generated away from the output surface of the dielectrics by correctly engineering each individual dielectric structure to generate minimum diffraction and maximum scattering along the propagation axis. Different scenarios are studied such as dual-dielectric structures having different lateral dimensions and refractive index as well as cases when both dielectrics have the same lateral dimensions. The results are evaluated both numerically and theoretically demonstrating an excellent agreement between them. These results may open new avenues for optical trapping, focusing and sensing devices via compact and simple dual-dielectric structures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To evaluate the overall prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in interstitial lung disease (ILD). Methods: We performed a systematic search of the academic literature while adhering to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines on four scientific databases including EMBASE, CENTRAL, Scopus, and MEDLINE. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the prevalence and severity of OSA. Severity was defined by apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) as mild (AHI ≥ 5 to < 15/h), moderate (AHI ≥ 15 to < 30/h), and severe (AHI ≥ 30/h). Results: From 1397 studies, we found 10 eligible studies with 569 patients with ILD (mean age: 65.3 ± 6.0 years). Among these patients, 332 (61%) suffered from OSA with 32% categorized as mild, 17% moderate, and 9% severe. The deep cryogenic temperatures encountered in aerospace present significant challenges for the performance of elastic materials in spacecraft and related apparatus. Reported elastic carbon or ceramic aerogels overcome the low-temperature brittleness in conventional elastic polymers. However, complicated fabrication process and high costs greatly limited their applications. In this work, super-elasticity at a deep cryogenic temperature of covalently crosslinked polyimide (PI) aerogels is achieved based on scalable and low-cost directional dimethyl sulfoxide crystals assisted freeze gelation and freeze-drying strategy. The covalently crosslinked chemical structure, cellular architecture, negative Poisson's ratio (−0.2), low volume shrinkage (3.1%), and ultralow density (6.1 mg/cm3) endow the PI aerogels with an elastic compressive strain up to 99% even in liquid helium (4 K), almost zero loss of resilience after dramatic thermal shocks (∆T = 569 K), and fatigue resistance over 5000 times compressive cycles. This work provides a new pathway for constructing polymer-based materials with super-elasticity at deep cryogenic temperature, demonstrating much promise for extensive applications in ongoing and near-future aerospace exploration. Disc cutter has a large diameter and more teeth, and obvious tool runout (δi) is produced during disc milling process, so the irregular distribution of cutting force is generated due to uneven distribution of cutting output per tooth (hi*) caused by tool runout. Therefore, the tool runout (δi) must be considered when milling force model of disc milling is established. In the paper, first, milling force model of disc milling is built with a three-teeth alternating disc cutter considering the tool runout (δi). Second, tool runout (δi) is measured by the dial gauge when the revolving speed of disc cutter is 1 r/min, then cutting output per tooth considering tool runout (hi*) is obtained by the formula between cutting output of each tooth (hi) without considering tool runout (δi) and tool runout (δi). Third, the parameters of frictional angle (βn), normal shear angle (ϕn), and shear yield strength (τs) in model coefficients are calibrated by orthogonal cutting experimental. Then, the predictive model of milling force is obtained. Last, the reliability verification experiment of model is conducted. The experiment results show that the model is with high efficiency and precision and the measured force and predictive force is in good agreement in amplitude and trend, which can be used in the study of milling force of disc milling.
