Attachment theory and Bowen's family system theory are theories focused on the central role of the family bonding in the development of the self and in the promotion of affective and relational regulation. The main objective of our study was to reflect on the dialogue between adult attachment and differentiation of self constructs and to explore if and in which measure romantic attachment styles depend on attachment bonding with parents or from differentiation of self processes. Involving a convenience sample of 350 participants, we administered a research protocol composed of the Differentiation of Self Inventory (Skowron, Schmitt in J Marital Fam Ther 29(2):209–222, 2003), the Experience in Close Relationships–Revised Scale (Fraley et al. in J Personal Soc Psychol 78(2):350–365, 2000) and the Parental Bonding Instrument (Parker et al. in Br J Med Psychol 52(1):1–10, 1979). Data revealed that the most important variables in predicting anxiety are emotional reactivity and low level of paternal care and that the most important variable in predicting avoidance is emotional cutoff. Working within the framework of the Bowen's Family Systems Theory and using data from 318 non-clinical participants, the present study assessed a model in which codependent behaviors were predicted by dyadic adjustment in couple relationships and differentiation of self. Results indicated that the dimensions of differentiation of self (I-position, emotional reactivity, emotional cutoff, fusion with others) were more important in explaining the codependent behavior compared to the dimensions of dyadic adjustment (dyadic satisfaction, cohesion, consensus, affective expression). These results suggest the importance of considering the dynamics and outcomes of the process of differentiation of self both in research and in counselling and clinical practice with individuals, couples, and families. This study was aimed to acquire information ontrophic behavior of Diplodus puntazzolarvae and juveniles, by studing theontogenetic sensory development, except vision. D. puntazzo specimens were observed usinga scanning electron ( n = 67) and a lightmicroscope ( n = 7). The results concerned fourontogenetical stages of sharpsnout seabream:larval, post-larval, transitional, and juvenilestages. The yolk-sac larval stage was notdetected as the smallest larvae at our disposal(3.1 mm TL; 2nd day from hatching) showedno external appearance of the yolk. During thelarval stage (3.1–4.7 mm TL), sharpsnoutseabream is equipped with free neuromasts andolfactory ciliated receptor cells. In thepost-larval stage (5–28.6 mm TL), mechano- andchemo-reception is implemented: the inner andouter taste buds differentiation, the nasalformation, the lateral line system canalizationoccur. The precocious differentiation ofchemo-receptors makes post-larvae particularlysensitive to the organoleptic properties ofadministered preys. D. puntazzo, at theend of this phase, could be considered ajuvenile (complete squamation is acquired),except for the mouth and pharyngeal teeth.During the subsequent phase (`transitional'),in fact, eight chisel-type and two lateralseries of molar-like teeth progressivelysubstituted the conical ones on each jaw, andthree different types of teeth on the upper andlower pharynx differentiated. The chromosomes of 3 species of bikirs ( Polypterus delhezi, P. endlicheri congicus and P. palmas) were studied in somatic metaphases. The diploid number was found to be 2 n=36 in all the species and a basic morphological identity of the karyotype emerges from karyogram comparison not only in the 3 species described herein, but also in the other Polypteriformes already studied. The dramatic Mass Mortality Event, MME, of Pinna nobilis populations initially detected in the western Mediterranean basin, has also spread rapidly to the central and eastern basin. Unfortunately, there is still a significant lack of information on the status and health of P. nobilis, since only a fragmentary picture of the mortality rate affecting these populations is available. Regarding the Italian coast, several surveys have given only localized or point-like views on the distribution of species and the effect of the MME. Therefore, for the first time, this study investigated P. nobilis density of individuals, distribution and mortality throughout 161 surveys along 800 km of coastline in the Apulia region (South-east of Italy). The geographical scale of this investigation made it the largest ever conducted in Italy, and this was achieved through a rapid and standardized protocol. During this monitoring campaign, 90 km of linear underwater transects were surveyed, along which no live individuals were observed. This result allowed to estimate that the P. nobilis populations had totally collapsed, with a mortality rate of 100% in Apulia. The distributional pattern of the species showed a strong overlap with seagrass meadows on meso- and macro-geographical scale, however this was not the case on a micro-scale. This result evidenced that relationships between P. nobilis and seagrass meadows are not limited to the habitat patch, but cross the boundaries of seagrass leading us to suggest that the distribution of P. nobilis hold a trophic link through the cross-boundary subsidy occurring from seagrass meadows to the nearby habitat, by means of the refractory detrital pathway., (© 2022.
