Background: Since scoliosis is a three-dimensional deformity, it causes some movement limitations in the spine and related joints. However, functional limitations associated with scoliosis-related hip joint involvement are the subject of research. Aims: This study aims to investigate the physical characteristics and functional limitations associated with idiopathic scoliosis (IS), focusing on hip joint. Methods: Demographic characteristics, scoliosis-specific assessments and hip joint active range of motion (RoM), lumbar mobility (Modified Schober test), lumbopelvic stability (Single leg squat test-SLS), hip joint position sense, lower extremity balance (Y-balance test) and lower extremity functionality (Lower extremity functional scale-LEFS) were evaluated. Results: The study included 120 individuals, with 86 in the scoliosis group (mean age: 15.7 ± 3.4 years) and 34 in the control group (mean age: 16.1 ± 4.8 years). The scoliosis group exhibited limited RoM of the hip joint in flexion, extension, right abduction, adduction, internal rotation, and left external rotation compared to controls (p < 0.001). Lumbar mobility was decreased (p < 0.001). In the joint position sense test, the mean difference for right flexion was and for left flexion. Bilateral decreased SLS test performances (p < 0.001) and Y-balance test performance (p < 0.05) in individuals with IS. LEFS scores were statistically different but not clinically different between groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Individuals with IS show decreased hip mobility, lumbopelvic stability, hip joint position sense, and balance compared to healthy peers; however, these limitations do not have a clinical impact on daily living activities. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of foot core training (FCT) on dynamic function and balance, in addition to exercises for strengthening and stretching of hip and knee muscles in females with patellofemoral pain (PFP). Methods: Twenty-eight females with PFP were randomized into foot core training (FCT, n = 13) and standardized exercise groups (EXE, n = 15). The Timed-Up&Go Test (TUG) was used for dynamic function and balance, and Y-Balance Test (YBT) was used for dynamic balance; performed at baseline and after 6 weeks of the exercise program. For the EXE exercise program, routine and widely used exercises for strengthening and stretching of hip and knee muscles were selected. For patients assigned to the FCT, a similar program was performed with the addition of FCT. Physiotherapist-supervised exercise sessions were scheduled 2 times per week for 6 weeks and performed as a home program on the other days of the week. Results: Both groups displayed decreases in TUG scores, whereas YBT scores increased in both groups. No significant group by time interaction and no between-group differences were found (P > 0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, the results from this study indicate that the dynamic balance impairment is due to not only foot pronation but also the malalignment of knee biomechanics and pain in PFP patients. Purpose: Pediatric surgeons are exposed to intense work-related activities, depending on their profession, including residency training. This study aims to investigate the musculoskeletal symptoms and analyze the relationship between musculoskeletal symptoms and the demographics, physical activity levels, and body mass index (BMI) of pediatric surgeons. Methods: A total of 82 pediatric surgeons (female, 20; male, 62) were included in this study. The musculoskeletal symptoms were determined using the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire. The levels of physical activity were determined using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Results: The mean age of the participants was 48.97 ± 8.894 years, the mean BMI was 26.72 ± 4.12 kg/m2, and the mean working time after acquiring their specialty was 18.65 ± 9.83 years. The average surgery counts per week were 15.22 ± 12.17. Pediatric surgeons mostly complained from lower back pain, upper back pain, neck pain, and right and left shoulder pain. Surgeons with higher BMI had higher pain scores and received more treatment sessions. Conclusions: Pediatric surgeons' complaints are related to their total numbers of surgery. Higher BMI and lower physical activity seem to be the major contributing factors for developing musculoskeletal symptoms.
