Using technology in medical education has drawn the attention of researchers in the last several years. Especially, videos have been found to promote effective learning in medical education. This study aims to examine general trends and results of articles investigating video usage in medical education and published in SSCI and ERIC journals from 2000 to 2014. For this purpose, the researchers systematically read and analyzed 43 relevant articles. Descriptive content analysis methodology was applied to examine the trends of studies on video usage in medical education. Researchers used a publishing classification form to categorize characteristics of the articles during content analyses. The results showed that the number of articles published about video usage in medical education particularly increased from 2009 to 2011. Instructional environments were the most common topic, the most frequently used video type was a case video, and the samples were mostly medical students. Quantitative methodology and analysis were employed regularly, and the most preferred data collection tool was a questionnaire. The reviewed articles suggested many benefits to using videos, such as enabling cognitive learning and gaining clinical skills. In conclusion, many studies have been published on video usage in medical education, and their general consensus is that video usage increases learning. Findings direct future studies on the subject. This study examined subject and research method trends in educational technology field from 2002 to 2014. Content analysis was applied in order to analyze 1255 articles published in BJET and ETR&D journals using the Educational Technology Papers Classification Form. According to the results, learning approaches/theories and learning environments were the subject most preferred by researchers. The most commonly used research methods were quantitative, qualitative, other (review or meta-analysis), and mixed method, in that order. Researchers tended to use questionnaires, documents, and interviews as data collection tools. The most commonly preferred sample type was the purposive sample, and undergraduate students were the most commonly chosen sample group, with the most common sample size being groups of 31-100. Frequencies, percentages, and tables were the most common presentation format for data in quantitative studies, while qualitative studies most often employed content analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The association of an anionic dye C.I. Reactive Orange 16 (RO16) and different types of surfactants, i.e., anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate, nonionic surfactants poly(oxyethylene) ethers (C m POE10, m = 12, 16, and 18; C12POE n , n = 4, 10, and 23), was investigated using tensiometry in a certain micellar concentration range. RO16 was shown to aggregate in water when its concentration is above the threshold value. The surface tension lowering and critical micellar concentration (CMC) values were interpreted on the same grounds as those for surfactants mixtures. The tensiometric measurements of dye-surfactant systems are carried out as a function of the molar concentration of solution at 25°C. Using Rubingh’s regular solution theory, the values of interaction parameters were found to be negative for all studied binary mixtures. These negative values indicate that there is an attractive interaction of the surfactants in mixed micelles and reflect synergistic behavior of a mixture. In all studied systems, deviations from ideal behavior were observed depending on the type of surfactant. Interaction parameters calculated using regular solution theory are changed from −2.62 to −12.43. The smallest deviation from ideal behavior is obtained for the RO16-C12POE4 mixed system; i.e., in the case when nonionic surfactant has the shortest alkyl chain and the smallest number of ethylene oxide units.
