The current state of a rare medicinal species, the "green-flowered" hound's tongue (Cynoglossum viridiflorum Pall. ex Lehm.), of Uzbekistan growing in the Karakalpak part of the Ustyurt Plateau, based on the structure of its cenopopulations is examined. New data is reported with respect to the ontogeny and ontogenetic structure of cenotic populations of this rare endemic, and plant communities with its participation are characterized. In the Ustyurt conditions, the vegetation cycle of C. viridiflorum spans approximately eight months from March to October. The studied populations were shown to be normal and full-membered. The left-sided ontogenetic spectrum is characteristic of C. viridiflorum due to the high seed productivity and germination capacity. Altogether, this reflects the biological characteristics of C. viridiflorum and points to a stable state of the species population in the Ustyurt conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses the amino-acid composition of proteins from Xylosalsola richteri, a plant that grows in arid regions of Uzbekistan. The plant is known for its adaptability to sandy environments and its ability to prevent sand erosion. It is also a rich source of various phytochemical compounds and has medicinal properties. The research aimed to determine the total protein content and amino-acid composition of the plant's branches and leaves in different habitats. The study found that the proteins from plants growing in northwestern Kyzylkum and under southern Aral-Sea conditions had similar qualitative compositions but differed in their quantitative contents of amino acids. The article assesses the state of the ontogenetic structure of the rare species Crambe edentula Fisch. & C.A. Mey. ex Korsh., which grows in the Karakalpak part of Ustyurt. The study showed that in the ecological-cenotic conditions of Ustyurt, the studied local populations are normal and mostly incomplete. The characteristic ontogenetic spectrum for C. еdentula is centered due to an increase in the life span of individuals in a mature generative state and poor seed renewal. The ontogenetic spectra of local populations do not coincide with the characteristic spectra. The spectra of specific local populations are left-sided and right-sided, which is associated with the environmental conditions of habitation and fluctuations in weather conditions. Coenopopulations of Tulipa lehmanniana Merckl. have been studied and assessed as normal, with the full range of age groups, except for the Tamdyn population, for which no senile fraction has been observed. The complex of determinating indices of coenopopulations with high variation coefficients includes the population density, projective cover, and the width of the bottom leaf. Coenopopulations represent viable, sustainable, integral, and self-maintaining systems capable of self-renewal by either generative or vegetative means. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The floristic composition of vascular plants of Vozrozhdeniya Island (the Aral Sea enclave) within the borders of its Kara-Kalpak part (Uzbekistan) has been preliminarily determined. In total, 123 species belonging to 90 genera and 31 families have been observed. Of the families with the maximum abundance of species, the most representative are Chenopodiaceae Vent., Asteraceae Dumort., Fabaceae Lindl., and Poaceae Barnhart. The similarity of this island with the Ustyurt Plateau are demonstrated by the examples of Anabaseta salsae and Artemisieta terrae-albae communities; the distinguishing features of this area are illustrated by the examples of nondominating Salsola arbusculiformis and the lack of plant complexes composed of Anabaseta salsae, Artemisieta terrae-albae, and Salsoleta arbusculae communities. Conversely, large island areas occupied by the Salsoleta orientalae and Haloxyleta aphylli communities are similar to some ecotopes of the Kyzyl-Kum Desert. The prevalence of the Artemisieta terrae-albae formation in some parts of the island is caused by the low anthropogenic influence due to long-term isolation of the island from the mainland.
