Social lockdowns improved air quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments had previously spent a lot of money addressing air pollution without success. This bibliometric study measured the influence of COVID-19 social lockdowns on air pollution, identified emerging issues, and discussed future perspectives. The researchers examined the contributions of countries, authors, and most productive journals to COVID-19 and air pollution research from January 1, 2020, to September 12, 2022, from the Web of Sciences Core Collection (WoS). The results showed that (a) publications on the COVID-19 pandemic and air pollution were 504 (research articles) with 7495 citations, (b) China ranked first in the number of publications (n = 151; 29.96% of the global output) and was the main country in international cooperation network, followed by India (n = 101; 20.04% of the total articles) and the USA (n = 41; 8.13% of the global output). Air pollution plagues China, India, and the USA, calling for many studies. After a high spike in 2020, research published in 2021 declined in 2022. The author's keywords have focused on "COVID-19," "air pollution," "lockdown," and "PM25." These keywords suggest that research in this area is focused on understanding the health impacts of air pollution, developing policies to address air pollution, and improving air quality monitoring. The COVID-19 social lockdown served as a specified procedure to reduce air pollution in these countries. However, this paper provides practical recommendations for future research and a model for environmental and health scientists to examine the likely impact of COVID-19 social lockdowns on urban air pollution. In this study, the researchers focus on policy instruments that employ a market-based strategy to promote emission reduction, find the key spots and recent changing aspects in the field of Eemission Trading Systems (ETS) and Low Carbon Growth, and make suggestions for future studies. Making use of the bibliometric analysis, the researchers examine a sample of 1,390 research from the ISI Web of Science database to find research activity on ETS and low carbon growth between 2005 and 2022. Also, the researchers visualized the knowledge domains in this field using software like CiteSpace and R-Biblioshiny. The research unravels the most influential published articles and authors on their citations and publications and their location and significance within the network. The researchers further examined the recent themes, identified the barriers to developing literature in this field, and made recommendations for future research. Research on ETS and low carbon growth globally lack cross-border collaborations between emerging and developed economies. Several countries across the African continent have been challenged with energy crises for decades. A growing number of studies have identified renewable energy as a sustainable way for Africa to address its persisting energy situation while combating climate change, as the continent has in abundance some of the common renewable energy resources. Little has been reported in the body of literature to quantitatively and qualitatively map the knowledge domain of this growing research field. In the current study, we conduct a bibliometric analysis on research documents extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection to identify trends and characteristics of the knowledge domain related to renewable energy in Africa from 1999 to 2021. Using two different software (VOSviewer and ITgInsight), we report the contribution of journals, countries, institutions, and authors and their collaboration patterns. We also perform co-citation and keyword analysis to identify the intellectual base and central themes of this research field. The results from the study revealed a growing interest in Africa's renewable energy, with about 90% of the total publication from within the last decade. Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews was identified as the most productive as well as the most influential journal in this field. The most contributing countries in this field were South Africa, USA, and Algeria. Centre de Developpement Des Energies Renouvelables, a research institute in Algeria, emerged as the most productive and influential institution. The analysis of research hotspots under different categories revealed that "solar energy," "CO2 emissions," and "rural electrification" are the topics that have gained maximum attention over the years. Keyword evolution analysis also identified "economic growth" and "green hydrogen production" as emerging topics that will play a major role in future studies. We conclude our work by providing specific suggestions and strategies to help bridge the gap which exists in the quantity and quality of renewable energy research between Africa and the rest of the world. During the course of a typical deep space mission like the Mars Earth mission, there exist a wide range of operating points, due to the different changes in geometry that consequently cause different link budgets in terms of received signal and noise power. These changes include distance range, Sun-Earth-Probe angle, zenith angle and atmospheric conditions. The different operating points, with different losses (background noise, pointing losses and atmospheric losses), lead to different capacities and data rates over the course of a typical deep space mission. Consequently, different engineering parameters are adjusted and optimized to combat some of these varying losses in order to get acceptable data rates and bit error probabilities. This is a useful reason to analyze and simulate various operating conditions that occur with the varying spatial orbital time periods of the resulting received signal power level, noise power level, capacity, data rates and bit error probabilities. The purpose of this review was to investigate the association between publication performance and the organizational and psychosocial work environment of academics in a university setting. In 2018 we conducted database searches in Web of Science, Medline and other key journals (hand-searched) from 1990 to 2017 based on population, exposure and outcome framework. We examined reference lists, and after a title and abstract scan and full-text reading we identified studies that were original research and fulfilled our inclusion criteria. Articles were evaluated as having a low, moderate or high risk of bias using a quality assessment form. From the studies (n = 32) identified and synthesized, work-environment characteristics could explain the quality and quantity aspects of publication performance of academics. Management practices, leadership and psychosocial characteristics are influential factors that affect academics' publication productivity. Most of the reviewed studies were judged to be of moderate quality because of issues of bias, related to the measuring of publication outcome. The findings in the studies reviewed suggest that highly productive research academics and departments significantly tend to be influenced by the organizational and psychosocial characteristics of their working environment. The practical relevance of this review is that it highlights where academics' performance needs support and how the work environment can be improved to bolster publication productivity. One of the ways that scientists and engineers have come up to harness solar power is by inventing photovoltaics. Perovskite, which is one of the most promising materials for solar cell fabrication, has gained much attention in recent years due to its exceptional increase in performance. However, the most challenging issue that has been prevalent is the stability of perovskite solar cells. Perovskite crystal has a general formula of ABX3, where A and B are cations, and X is an anion. The Goldschmidt's tolerance factor and the octahedral tolerance factor are the stability criteria that have to be satisfied by a crystal, for it to be considered a perovskite. Also, there are different combinations of site-A cations, site-B cations, and site-X anions that can give rise to a perovskite crystal. There is, therefore, the need to synthesize perovskite crystals which satisfy these tolerance factors to guarantee stability at a minimum bearable cost. In this paper, we present an optimization problem, where we formulate an objective function to determine site-A cation, site-B cation, and site-X anion that minimize the cost of perovskite crystal synthesis subject to the octahedral and Goldschmidt's tolerance factors to assure stability. We further present three case studies based on this optimization approach. The results indicate that the optimal perovskite crystal structure is ammonium–magnesium–formate with a cost of 0.1784 ($/g), while the percentage variation in cost from the first-best combination to the second-best is 19.24%. Background: On a global scale, type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remain a major health problem and it is the driver for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Despite this association, we still do not have sufficient biomarkers to anticipate better outcomes. N-glycosylation profiles are robust biomarkers and can be used for early monitoring of the progression of T2DM towards CKD. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we recruited 241 T2DM patients from January to May 2016. Demographic and anthropometric data were collected, following which fasting blood samples were collected for clinical analyses. Renal function decline was determined by estimation of glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and N-glycosylation profiles were analysed by Ultraperformance liquid chromatography (UPLC). Results: The prevalence of undiagnosed CKD was 31.53%. Compared to men, women had a statistically significantly higher HbA1c (p = 0.031), TG (p = 0.015), HDL-c (p < 0.0001), creatinine (<0.0001), urea (p < 0.028) and uric acid (p < 0.0001). T2DM patients with undiagnosed CKD had higher serum creatinine (145.75 ± 50.83 vs 88.59 ± 19.46, p < 0.0001), higher uric acid (361.10 ± 115.37 vs 294.54 ± 97.75; p < 0.0001) and higher urea (5.17 ± 2.35 vs 3.58 ± 1.19; p < 0.0001). After performing logistic regression and adjusting for age, sex and BMI, three N-glycan peaks [OR (95%CI): (GP12 (0.05(0.01-0.54), p = 0.013)); GP16 (0.61(0.43-0.87), p = 0.006)); GP22 (0.60(0.39-0.92), p = 0.018)) were associated with renal function. Conclusion: There was an increased prevalence of undiagnosed CKD among T2DM patients. This prevalence is the consequence of uncontrolled modifiable risk factors, which collectively may lead to end stage renal disease (ESRD). Although, the identified N-glycans could not adequately predict incident CKD, our investigation indicates the potential role of N-glycosylation in renal function and that their inclusion may improve risk stratification for CKD. The efficacy of physical exercise for the prevention and treatment of non-specific low back pain (LBP) is well documented, but little is known about how individuals value specific components of physical exercise, such as the type and design or the intensity and frequency of exercise. Other factors that influence individual differences in health choices and adherence are associated with individuals' attitudes toward and likelihood of performing recommended exercise regimens. Current evidence shows that efficacy is similar among exercise interventions, but their features vary widely. Thus it may be difficult for clinicians to discriminate between available options in clinical practice. Considering the many challenges in determining the form of exercise best suited to the individual patient, this commentary discusses some of the practical methods that could be used to elicit individual preference for recommended health care interventions. Such methods have the advantage of providing more information for health care decision making, particularly with regard to exercise interventions for LBP.
