There are significant environmental and health concerns associated with the current inefficient plastic recycling process. This study presents the first integrated reference catalog of plastic-contaminated environments obtained using an insilico workflow that could play a significant role in discovering new plastizymes. Here, we combined 66 whole metagenomic data from plastic-contaminated environment samples from four previously collected metagenome data with our new sample. In this study, an integrated plastic-contaminated environment gene, protein, taxa, and plastic degrading enzyme catalog (PDEC) was constructed. These catalogs contain 53,300,583 non-redundant genes and proteins, 691 metagenome-assembled genomes, and 136,654 plastizymes. Based on KEGG and eggNOG annotations, 42% of recognized genes lack annotations, indicating their functions remain elusive and warrant further investigation. Additionally, the PDEC catalog highlights hydrolases, peroxidases, and cutinases as the prevailing plastizymes. Ultimately, following multiple validation procedures, our effort focused on pinpointing enzymes that exhibited the highest similarity to the introduced plastizymes in terms of both sequence and three-dimensional structural aspects. This encompassed evaluating the linear composition of constituent units as well as the complex spatial conformation of the molecule. The paper deals with the issues of cross-identification of sources from various astronomical catalogs. One of the main problems under consideration is how to cross-identify a large number of catalogs in a selected region in the sky when there is no reference source catalog? For cross-identification of large amounts of data, it is proposed to use the DBSCAN group search algorithm. A special program code "cross-match.online" has been developed, which works in online and offline modes, which allows you to automate the process of cross-identification of sources across a variety of catalogs. The paper deals with the issues of comparing catalogs with different source densities, resolving uncertainties in cross-identification, and also taking into account the uncertainty of source positions. A technique is proposed that makes it possible to cross-identify catalogs with different source densities and different position uncertainty values. Psychologists and linguists collect various data on word and concept properties. In psychology, scholars have accumulated norms and ratings for a large number of words in languages with many speakers. In linguistics, scholars have accumulated cross-linguistic information about the relations between words and concepts. Until now, however, there have been no efforts to combine information from the two fields, which would allow comparison of psychological and linguistic properties across different languages. The Database of Cross-Linguistic Norms, Ratings, and Relations for Words and Concepts (NoRaRe) is the first attempt to close this gap. Building on a reference catalog that offers standardization of concepts used in historical and typological language comparison, it integrates data from psychology and linguistics, collected from 98 data sets, covering 65 unique properties for 40 languages. The database is curated with the help of manual, automated, semi-automated workflows and uses a software API to control and access the data. The database is accessible via a web application, the software API, or using scripting languages. In this study, we present how the database is structured, how it can be extended, and how we control the quality of the data curation process. To illustrate its application, we present three case studies that test the validity of our approach, the accuracy of our workflows, and the integrative potential of the database. Due to regular version updates, the NoRaRe database has the potential to advance research in psychology and linguistics by offering researchers an integrated perspective on both fields. One of the most valuable regions for telecommunication and space science is the geostationary earth orbit (GEO). On 27 November 2019, Egypt successfully launched its telecommunications satellite TIBA-1 into space. This paper aims to effectively identify and concurrently track this satellite from our Kottamia observatory station, National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) - Egypt. The images of the satellite are processed by the Apex II astronomical image processing package to obtain optical measurements, the apparent magnitude, and the phase angle. The initial orbit of the TIBA-1 satellite is determined using angle-only optical measurements for 4 months. The Double-r iteration method is used to determine the state distance vectors for orbital elements under different perturbation forces. Then, the results are compared with the positions predicted using the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reference catalog. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Considering the high seismicity rate of the Iranian plateau, the development and implementation of an automated routine for near-real-time determination of earthquake point source parameters would be extremely beneficial, e.g., for dedicated seismological studies, constraining the regional stress field, and shakemap assessment. We discuss the implementation of a fast, automated regional moment tensor inversion routine, based on SeisComP3 and KIWI tool packages. To assess the routine efficiency, we used a dataset including 90 earthquakes spatially distributed within all seismotectonic provinces of Iran, recorded at local to regional distances, with magnitudes in the range MN 4.5–7.3. Resolved moment tensor solutions and source parameters are in most cases in good agreement with reference ones from global and regional catalogs. However, we identify consistent differences in magnitudes and depths, with respect to global catalogs, which can be attributed to a higher resolution of our approach, using local and regional data and considering regional velocity models. The depth estimations are shallower than in reference global catalogs but compatible with the tectonic settings of the Iranian region. The analysis of the selected dataset is accompanied by a test run of automated processing for 8 months of online operation, from July 2019 to February 2020. The processing time in online routine, with an average of ~ 23 min, mostly depends on the magnitude, number of stations, azimuthal coverage, data quality, and complexity of the crustal model, so that computation times may vary significantly for earthquakes located in different Iranian provinces. In this paper, the notions of periodic point are compared, and the sensitivity of semigroup actions on Hausdorff uniform spaces is studied. We show that for an action of a semigroup on a compact uniform space, if it is syndetically transitive and not minimal, then it is syndetically sensitive. We point out that if an action of a semigroup on a uniform space (does not need to be compact) is topologically transitive, not minimal, and has a dense set of s-periodic points, then it is syndetically sensitive. Additionally, we prove that if an action of a monoid on a uniform space (does not need to be compact) is topologically transitive, not minimal, and has a dense set of FM-periodic points, then it is syndetically sensitive. Purpose: To determine if rare primary malignancies of the liver may have consistent features on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Materials and Methods: This IRB-compliant retrospective study reviewed the records from the pathology departments of four university centres over an 11-year period from 2005-2016 to identify rare primary malignant tumours, which were cross-referenced with MRI records. MRI studies of these patients were reviewed to determine if these tumours exhibited consistent and distinctive features.Results: Sixty patients were identified with rare primary liver tumours. The following distinctive features and frequency of occurrence were observed: mixed hepatocellular carcinoma-cholangiocarcinoma showed regions of wash-out in 7/19 of patients; 6/6 of fibrolamellar carcinomas demonstrated large heterogeneous lesions with large heterogeneous central scars; epithelioid haemangioendothelioma larger than 2 cm showed target-like enhancement in late-phase enhancement in 9/13; sarcomas excluding angiosarcoma had central necrosis in 3/9 and haemorrhage in 5/9; angiosarcomas showed centripedal progressive nodular enhancement in 3/6 and showed regions of haemorrhage in 3/6; and 7/7 of primary hepatic lymphomas showed encasement of vessels.Conclusion: Although helpful features for the differentiation of rare primary malignancies of the liver are identified, no MRI features appear to be specific and therefore histopathological confirmation is usually required for definitive diagnosis.Key Points: • No MRI features appear to be specific for rare primary liver malignancies. • Haemorrhage is a helpful sign in diagnosis of primary hepatic sarcomas. • Angiosarcomas may show progressive nodular enhancement towards the centre mimicking haemangioma. • Vessel encasement is a helpful sign in diagnosis of primary hepatic lymphoma. When identifying and elaborating compliance requirements, analysts need to follow the cross references in legal texts and consider the additional information in the cited provisions. Enabling easier navigation and handling of cross references requires automated support for the detection of the natural language expressions used in cross references, the interpretation of cross references in their context, and the linkage of cross references to the targeted provisions. In this article, we propose an approach and tool support for automated detection and resolution of cross references. The approach leverages the structure of legal texts, formalized into a schema, and a set of natural language patterns for legal cross reference expressions. These patterns were developed based on an investigation of Luxembourg's legislation, written in French. To build confidence about their applicability beyond the context where they were observed, these patterns were validated against the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) by the Government of Ontario, Canada, written in both French and English. The article discusses the concept of reanalyzing the expertise reversal effect between expertise and instruction in educational psychology. The concept of aptitude-treatment interaction (ATI) occurs when the instructional format is beneficial for novices with increased advantage of the learners and higher expertise. In addition, cognitive load theory is appropriate for learners with lower expertise and questionnaire of actual motivation. It states that higher knowledge learners integrate and cross-reference redundant instructional guidance with knowledge structures to consume additional cognitive resources and cognitive load on working memory.

Abstract  The paper suggests a method for synthesis of adaptive tests with guaranteed coverage for checking functioning of discrete systems whose behavior is described by nondeterministic finite state machines. In contrast to other known methods, we do not represent the complete test as a tree but list test cases one by one and check functioning of the finite state machine on each test case. The complete test detects all defective systems that are r-distinguishable from the reference system. Besides, the test detects other defective systems containing traces that are not present in the specification; but detection of all such systems that are r-compatible with the specification is not guaranteed. Abstract  This article explores the methodological considerations of a syndetic approach to archaeological inquiry. This multi-evidential approach involves crossing interdisciplinary boundaries to exploit data that reside with other specialists. The material evidence of a historically referenced place is sought in the archaeological record and evaluated using historical documentary data, ethnographic information, as well as data from other sources including assessment of occupational duration, intensity of residence, erosional patterns, and chronological placement. Summary  The macro-level country-by-country co-authorship, cross-reference and cross-citation analysis started in our previous paper,1 continues with revealing the cross-national preference stucture of the 36 selected countries. Preference indicators of co-authorship, cross-reference and cross-citation are defined, presented and discussed. The study revealed that geopolitical location, cultural relations and language are determining factors in shaping preferences whether in co-authorship, cross-reference or cross-citation. Areas like Central Europe, Scandinavia, Latin America (supplemented with Spain and Portugal), the Far East or the Australia-New Zealand-South Africa triad form typical “clusters” with mutually strong preferences towards each other. The USA appears to have a distinguished role enjoying universal preference, which - in the cross-reference and cross-citation case - is asymmetric for the greater part of the countries under study. Several years ago the author received from his publisher an anonymous evaluation of a manuscript he had submitted for publication. While the evaluation was generally favorable, it contained a number of criticisms of the author's footnoting. In this analysis of the field of footnoting, the author takes for granted the explicit, manifest meanings and functions of footnoting. Footnotes provide evidence or location of evidence of a point being asserted. Beyond this, they aid in the attributing and allocating of acknowledgments, credits and priorities for work previously done and they may locate current work in a tradition that makes that work meaningful. In addition to these manifest functions, footnotes have important institutional, "political" and aesthetic functions. Since much of the sociology of science traces scholarly and scientific achievements through citations, it is assumed that being cited is proof of having made a scholarly contribution. It is, perhaps, as a result of this assumption that academic departments and academicians are often evaluated and evaluate themselves on the basis of their ratings in a citation index.

If the same experimental work is described by two different writers, very different levels of manuscripts can result. Great science when written poorly can be a good paper or alternatively, average science when written well can be a good paper. Sometimes when reviewing a manuscript, it seems that authors even skip the basic steps like using the "spell check" features in all word processing programs or confirming text referencing to the numbers in the list of references.
