Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being applied to improve the efficiency of software systems used in various domains, especially in the health and forensic sciences. Explainable AI (XAI) is one of the fields of AI that interprets and explains the methods used in AI. One of the techniques used in XAI to provide such interpretations is by computing the relevance of the input features to the output of an AI model. File fragment classification is one of the vital issues of file carving in Cyber Forensics (CF) and becomes challenging when the filesystem metadata is missing. Other major challenges it faces are: proliferation of file formats, file embeddings, automation, We leverage and utilize interpretations provided by XAI to optimize the classification of file fragments and propose a novel sifting approach, named SIFT (Sifting File Types). SIFT employs TF-IDF to assign weight to a byte (feature), which is used to select features from a file fragment. Threshold-based LIME and SHAP (the two XAI techniques) feature relevance values are computed for the selected features to optimize file fragment classification. To improve multinomial classification, a Multilayer Perceptron model is developed and optimized with five hidden layers, each layer with i × n neurons, where i = the layer number and n = the total number of classes in the dataset. When tested with 47,482 samples of 20 file types (classes), SIFT achieves a detection rate of 82.1% and outperforms the other state-of-the-art techniques by at least 10%. Generative deep learning models enable data-driven de novo design of molecules with tailored features. Chemical language models (CLM) trained on string representations of molecules such as SMILES have been successfully employed to design new chemical entities with experimentally confirmed activity on intended targets. Here, we probe the application of CLM to generate multi-target ligands for designed polypharmacology. We capitalize on the ability of CLM to learn from small fine-tuning sets of molecules and successfully bias the model towards designing drug-like molecules with similarity to known ligands of target pairs of interest. Designs obtained from CLM after pooled fine-tuning are predicted active on both proteins of interest and comprise pharmacophore elements of ligands for both targets in one molecule. Synthesis and testing of twelve computationally favored CLM designs for six target pairs reveals modulation of at least one intended protein by all selected designs with up to double-digit nanomolar potency and confirms seven compounds as designed dual ligands. These results corroborate CLM for multi-target de novo design as source of innovation in drug discovery. Background: We aimed to determine the capabilities of compressed sensing (CS) and deep learning reconstruction (DLR) with those of conventional parallel imaging (PI) for improving image quality while reducing examination time on female pelvic 1.5-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Fifty-two consecutive female patients with various pelvic diseases underwent MRI with T1- and T2-weighted sequences using CS and PI. All CS data was reconstructed with and without DLR. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of muscle and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) between fat tissue and iliac muscle on T1-weighted images (T1WI) and between myometrium and straight muscle on T2-weighted images (T2WI) were determined through region-of-interest measurements. Overall image quality (OIQ) and diagnostic confidence level (DCL) were evaluated on 5-point scales. SNRs and CNRs were compared using Tukey's test, and qualitative indexes using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: SNRs of T1WI and T2WI obtained using CS with DLR were higher than those using CS without DLR or conventional PI (p < 0.010). CNRs of T1WI and T2WI obtained using CS with DLR were higher than those using CS without DLR or conventional PI (p < 0.003). OIQ of T1WI and T2WI obtained using CS with DLR were higher than that using CS without DLR or conventional PI (p < 0.001). DCL of T2WI obtained using CS with DLR was higher than that using conventional PI or CS without DLR (p < 0.001). Conclusion: CS with DLR provided better image quality and shorter examination time than those obtainable with PI for female pelvic 1.5-T MRI. Intravital 2P-microscopy enables the longitudinal study of brain tumor biology in superficial mouse cortex layers. Intravital microscopy of the white matter, an important route of glioblastoma invasion and recurrence, has not been feasible, due to low signal-to-noise ratios and insufficient spatiotemporal resolution. Here, we present an intravital microscopy and artificial intelligence-based analysis workflow (Deep3P) that enables longitudinal deep imaging of glioblastoma up to a depth of 1.2 mm. We find that perivascular invasion is the preferred invasion route into the corpus callosum and uncover two vascular mechanisms of glioblastoma migration in the white matter. Furthermore, we observe morphological changes after white matter infiltration, a potential basis of an imaging biomarker during early glioblastoma colonization. Taken together, Deep3P allows for a non-invasive intravital investigation of brain tumor biology and its tumor microenvironment at subcortical depths explored, opening up opportunities for studying the neuroscience of brain tumors and other model systems. Understanding and interpreting dynamics of functional materials in situ is a grand challenge in physics and materials science due to the difficulty of experimentally probing materials at varied length and time scales. X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) is uniquely well-suited for characterizing materials dynamics over wide-ranging time scales. However, spatial and temporal heterogeneity in material behavior can make interpretation of experimental XPCS data difficult. In this work, we have developed an unsupervised deep learning (DL) framework for automated classification of relaxation dynamics from experimental data without requiring any prior physical knowledge of the system. We demonstrate how this method can be used to accelerate exploration of large datasets to identify samples of interest, and we apply this approach to directly correlate microscopic dynamics with macroscopic properties of a model system. Importantly, this DL framework is material and process agnostic, marking a concrete step towards autonomous materials discovery. Summary: Automated screening for vertebral fractures could improve outcomes. We achieved an AUC-ROC = 0.968 for the prediction of moderate to severe fracture using a GAM with age and three maximal vertebral body scores of fracture from a convolutional neural network. Maximal fracture scores resulted in a performant model for subject-level fracture prediction. Combining individual deep learning vertebral body fracture scores and demographic covariates for subject-level classification of osteoporotic fracture achieved excellent performance (AUC-ROC of 0.968) on a large dataset of radiographs with basic demographic data. Purpose: Osteoporotic vertebral fractures are common and morbid. Automated opportunistic screening for incidental vertebral fractures from radiographs, the highest volume imaging modality, could improve osteoporosis detection and management. We consider how to form patient-level fracture predictions and summarization to guide management, using our previously developed vertebral fracture classifier on segmented radiographs from a prospective cohort study of US men (MrOS). We compare the performance of logistic regression (LR) and generalized additive models (GAM) with combinations of individual vertebral scores and basic demographic covariates. Methods: Subject-level LR and GAM models were created retrospectively using all fracture predictions or summary variables such as order statistics, adjacent vertebral interactions, and demographic covariates (age, race/ethnicity). The classifier outputs for 8663 vertebrae from 1176 thoracic and lumbar radiographs in 669 subjects were divided by subject to perform stratified fivefold cross-validation. Models were assessed using multiple metrics, including receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and precision-recall (PR) curves. Results: The best model (AUC-ROC = 0.968) was a GAM using the top three maximum vertebral fracture scores and age. Using top-ranked scores only, rather than all vertebral scores, improved performance for both model classes. Adding age, but not ethnicity, to the GAMs improved performance slightly. Conclusion: Maximal vertebral fracture scores resulted in the highest-performing models. While combining multiple vertebral body predictions risks decreasing specificity, our results demonstrate that subject-level models maintain good predictive performance. In order to address the pressing issue of detecting and identifying counterfeit agricultural products, which cause significant economic losses, this paper presents a mobile-based system designed to identify rare agricultural products for consumers. To tackle the problem of identifying fake agricultural products, we propose a novel self-monitoring deep learning model named iCZSL. This model combines the Zero-shot segmentation model and Graph embeddings with the calculation of edit distance using a candidate list obtained from a dictionary. To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we conduct experiments on a dataset consisting of different types of potatoes, including chinese potatoes, dalat potatoes (a rare agricultural product), and other varieties, referred to as the TLU-states dataset. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method over competing baselines in terms of both quantitative and qualitative performance measures. Removing photobombing elements from images is a challenging task that requires sophisticated image inpainting techniques. Despite the availability of various methods, their effectiveness depends on the complexity of the image and the nature of the distracting element. To address this issue, we conducted a benchmark study to evaluate 10 state-of-the-art photobombing removal methods on a dataset of over 300 images. Our study focused on identifying the most effective image inpainting techniques for removing unwanted regions from images. We annotated the photobombed regions that require removal and evaluated the performance of each method using peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index (SSIM), and Fréchet inception distance (FID). The results show that image inpainting techniques can effectively remove photobombing elements, but more robust and accurate methods are needed to handle various image complexities. Writing is a commonplace activity that individuals partake in regularly. However, the implications behind it are often overlooked. When we write, various psychological factors come into play as the pen creates letters on the paper. Handwriting analysis has long been a subject of study, attracting researchers from diverse disciplines such as graphology, psychology, paleography, neuroscience, criminology, and computer science. Among the promising applications of handwriting analysis is gender classification, where a system can predict the gender of a writer based on their handwriting style. Since each individual's handwriting is unique, and variations exist between the handwriting of different genders, an automatic gender classification system can exploit these differences to make predictions. This paper presents a deep-learning-based gender classification system specifically designed for Urdu handwriting. The proposed approach utilizes a CNN network trained and tested on a self-created dataset contributed by 200 distinct male and 200 female Urdu writers. Through this method, the gender classification system achieved an impressive overall accuracy of 99.63%. The results obtained demonstrate that our technique for Urdu handwriting-based writer identification surpasses existing approaches. Pneumonia is a serious inflammatory disease that causes lung ulcers, and it is one of the leading reasons for pediatric death in the world. Chest X-rays are perhaps the most commonly utilized modalities to recognize pneumonia. Generally, the illness could be analyzed by a specialist radiologist. But for some reason, the diagnosis may be subjective. Thus, the physicians must be guided by computer-aided diagnosis frameworks in this challenging task. In this study, we propose a combined deep learning architecture to identify pneumonia in chest radiography images. We first, use Adaptive Median Filter for images enhancement, then we employ a regularized Convolutional Neural Network for features extraction, and then we use Long Short Term Memory as a classifier. Finally, the attention mechanism is used to direct the network attention to relevant features. The suggested approach was tested on two publicly available pneumonia X-ray datasets provided by Kermany and the Radiological Society of North America. On the Kermany and RSNA datasets, the suggested technique attained accuracy rates of 99.91% and 88.86%, respectively. In the last stage of our experiments, we employed a Grad-CAM-based color visualization technique to precisely interpret the detection of pneumonia in radiological images. Parkinson's disease (PD) is fatal, severe and irreversible neurological disorder. With the aging of the world population, the prevalence of PD is on the rise, making it the second most common neurodegenerative condition after Alzheimer's. Early recognition can be tricky because the disease's phenotype is essential for anticipating and halting its course. If PD is detected early and accurately, medical therapies may be initiated that may enhance the patient's quality of life and minimize its course. Medical image analysis, diagnostics, and medical management has been greatly improved with Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) based models. Our research analyzed present state-of-art and also the bibliometric review regarding ML and DL techniques used for Parkinson's Disease Detection (PDD) in order to measure the effectiveness of these technologies. This study analyses the various algorithms, modalities used, their limitations and possible future direction of ML/DL in PDD and at the same time, presents the quantitative analysis of publications in the mentioned research area. We have searched the Scopus database using major and auxiliary keywords pertaining to PD detection using ML and DL research articles published between 2013 and 2023. Based on the keyword input, 1674 articles were returned for bibliometric analysis. In order to visualize and analyze bibliometric networks, software tools such as VOSviewer and Biblioshiny are being used. Additionally, the article offers perceptions on networks of collaboration and bibliographic coupling. Our study will help researchers to easily identify techniques being used, relationships between publications and authors, uncovering new research opportunities and knowledge in ML/DL based PDD. Nuclear identification provides nuclear morphology features, distribution, quantity, and other essential features for diagnosing and treating diseases, especially cancer. However, manual nuclear identification is time-consuming with poor sensitivity and low reproducibility. To overcome these limitations, we proposed an automated nuclear identification deep learning-based method using hematoxylin and eosin pathology images. The proposed multitask deep learning model named 4T-Net consists of one encoder and four decoders across different tasks. The proposed method can simultaneously address nuclear segmentation and nuclear classification problems in an end-to-end manner. We evaluated this method on three public datasets: Colorectal Nuclear Segmentation and Phenotypes (CoNSeP), Multiorgan Nuclear Segmentation and Classification (MoNuSAC), and Gastric Lymphocyte Segmentation and Classification (GLySAC). The experimental results confirm the effectiveness and robustness of the four-task network (4T-Net) method in comparison to other competing methods. The monkeypox virus was declared endemic in several nations when COVID-19 cases began to decline and people were readjusting to normal life. Monkeypox was identified in 1958, with the first human case occurring in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1970. It has primarily impacted the poor Central and West African countries. Over the years, the monkeypox virus has evolved to a contagious disease due to which the situation is becoming grave and disturbing. In this paper, the genesis of the monkeypox virus, its history, and its re-emergence are discussed. Also, a quantitative analysis of cases that occurred in affected countries is performed based on several factors. This paper also discusses the role of Internet of Things (IoT) in controlling the current spread of the Monkeypox virus. An ensemble deep learning architecture is proposed to envisage the monkeypox virus through IoT devices. The convolutional neural network is incorporated to improve the performance of the proposed architecture. The proposed architecture is tested over two well-known datasets and attained better performance than the existing techniques. The impact of infected people's travel history, gender, and hospitalization requirements is also investigated. Ensuring public safety in urban areas is a crucial element in maintaining a good quality of life. The successful deployment of video surveillance systems depends heavily on the acquisition and processing of large volumes of urban data to derive meaningful insights. Manual monitoring and analysis of anomalous activities in the surveillance footage is both a time-consuming and error-prone process that is not scalable for urban environments with high levels of foot and vehicular traffic. Moreover, traditional surveillance systems are limited by their inability to process real-time data at scale, which can result in missed or delayed detection of potential security threats. This paper tackles this problem by proposing an automatic anomaly detection method via an attention mechanism. The attention area is identified using the background subtraction (BG) algorithm which identifies motion regions in the video frames. This information is then passed through a 3D convolutional neural network (3D CNN) to classify the normal and anomalous events. To evaluate the proposed method, experiments and analysis were conducted using the publicly available UCF crime dataset, demonstrating its effectiveness with an accuracy of 96.89% compared to the state-of-the-art methods. In recent years, human activity recognition (HAR) has been widely used in medical rehabilitation, smart home and other fields. Currently, the recognition performance highly depends on feature extraction and effective algorithm. On the one hand, traditional manual feature extraction and classification algorithms hinder the improvement of HAR. On the other hand, the latest deep learning technology can automatically process data and extract features, but it faces the problems of poor feature quality and information loss. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a new recognition method using only wearable sensor data. In the feature extraction stage, the axis information of each sensor is extracted separately into one-dimensional data, and information of all axes is integrated into a two-dimensional graph. Then, two deep convolutional neural network models are designed to train the features based on one-dimensional data and two-dimensional graph respectively. Finally, weighted voting method is used to get the classification results. Experiments have shown that the average recognition accuracy of the method in this paper is about 3% higher than that of other HAR deep neural network methods, which shown the advantage of the method in this paper in obtaining better recognition result with limited data. Human cognitive functions such as perception, attention, learning, memory, reasoning, and problem-solving are all significantly influenced by emotion. Emotion has a particularly potent impact on attention, modifying its selectivity in particular and influencing behavior and action motivation. Artificial Emotional Intelligence (AEI) technologies enable computers to understand a user's emotional state and respond appropriately. These systems enable a realistic dialogue between people and machines. The current generation of adaptive user interference technologies is built on techniques from data analytics and machine learning (ML), namely deep learning (DL) artificial neural networks (ANN) from multimodal data, such as videos of facial expressions, stance, and gesture, voice, and bio-physiological data (such as eye movement, ECG, respiration, EEG, FMRT, EMG, eye tracking). In this study, we reviewed existing literature based on ML and data analytics techniques being used to detect emotions in speech. The efficacy of data analytics and ML techniques in this unique area of multimodal data processing and extracting emotions from speech. This study analyzes how emotional chatbots, facial expressions, images, and social media texts can be effective in detecting emotions. PRISMA methodology is used to review the existing survey. Support Vector Machines (SVM), Naïve Bayes (NB), Random Forests (RF), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Logistic Regression (LR), etc., are commonly used ML techniques for emotion extraction purposes. This study provides a new taxonomy about the application of ML in SER. Human Activity Recognition (HAR) has gained much attention since sensor technology has become more advanced and cost-effective. HAR is a process of identifying the daily living activities of an individual with the help of an efficient learning algorithm and prospective user-generated datasets. EEG-based classification from human states is still challenging in human-computer interaction (HCI). Since it reflects brain activity directly, electroencephalography (EEG) has significant advantages in emotion classification research. This study recorded EEG signals from 12 participants while they perceived emotional audio-visual stimulation movie clips for four minutes. The six emotions studied were anger, excitement, fear, happiness, sadness, and a neutral state. We also perform raw data preprocessing to obtain clean data, extracting the power spectrum using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to generate feature vectors. In addition, we conduct extensive experiments to validate the classification of human states using subject-independent machine-learning techniques. As a result, the LSTM network achieved the highest classification accuracy of 81.46% for six emotional states, while the SVM network achieved only 68.64%. In addition, we achieved 82.89% accuracy in the Bi-LSTM network with two layers when applying the deep learning methods to different layers. In conclusion, extensive experiments were conducted on our collected dataset. Experimental results indicate that the LSTM network, a time-sequence-related model, has superior classification results of 82.89% than other methods. It also shows that the long duration of EEG signals is crucial for detecting the emotional state changes of various subject types, including individual subjects and cross-subjects. In future research, we will investigate multiple evaluation experiments utilizing deep learning models or propose novel EEG-based emotion classification features to improve the accuracy of emotion classification. Humans express emotions through various modalities such as facial expressions and natural language. However, the relationships between emotions expressed through different modalities and their correlations with neural activities remain uncertain. Here, we aimed to unveil some of these uncertainties by investigating the similarity of emotion representations across modalities and brain regions. First, we represented various emotion categories as multi-dimensional vectors derived from visual (face), linguistic, and visio-linguistic data, and used representational similarity analysis to compare these modalities. Second, we examined the linear transferability of emotion representation from other modalities to the visual modality. Third, we compared the representational structure derived in the first step with those from brain activities across 360 regions. Our findings revealed that emotion representations share commonalities across modalities with modality-type dependent variations, and they can be linearly mapped from other modalities to the visual modality. Additionally, emotion representations in uni-modalities showed relatively higher similarity with specific brain regions, while multi-modal emotion representation was most similar to representations across the entire brain region. These findings suggest that emotional experiences are represented differently across various brain regions with varying degrees of similarity to different modality types, and that they may be multi-modally conveyable in visual and linguistic domains. Image segmentation of the liver is an important step in treatment planning for liver cancer. However, manual segmentation at a large scale is not practical, leading to increasing reliance on deep learning models to automatically segment the liver. This manuscript develops a generalizable deep learning model to segment the liver on T1-weighted MR images. In particular, three distinct deep learning architectures (nnUNet, PocketNet, Swin UNETR) were considered using data gathered from six geographically different institutions. A total of 819 T1-weighted MR images were gathered from both public and internal sources. Our experiments compared each architecture's testing performance when trained both intra-institutionally and inter-institutionally. Models trained using nnUNet and its PocketNet variant achieved mean Dice-Sorensen similarity coefficients>0.9 on both intra- and inter-institutional test set data. Recent developments in Deep Learning have opened the possibility for automated segmentation of large and highly detailed CT scan datasets of fossil material. However, previous methodologies have required large amounts of training data to reliably extract complex skeletal structures. Here we present a method for automated Deep Learning segmentation to obtain high-fidelity 3D models of fossils digitally extracted from the surrounding rock, training the model with less than 1%-2% of the total CT dataset. This workflow has the capacity to revolutionise the use of Deep Learning to significantly reduce the processing time of such data and boost the availability of segmented CT-scanned fossil material for future research outputs. The global interest in market prediction has driven the adoption of advanced technologies beyond traditional statistical models. This paper explores the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques for stock market forecasting. We propose a comprehensive approach that includes efficient feature selection, data preprocessing, and classification methodologies. The wavelet transform method is employed for data cleaning and noise reduction. Feature selection is optimized using the Dandelion Optimization Algorithm (DOA), identifying the most relevant input features. A novel hybrid model, 3D-CNN-GRU, integrating a 3D convolutional neural network with a gated recurrent unit, is developed for stock market data analysis. Hyperparameter tuning is facilitated by the Blood Coagulation Algorithm (BCA), enhancing model performance. Many biological problems are understudied due to experimental limitations and human biases. Although deep learning is promising in accelerating scientific discovery, its power compromises when applied to problems with scarcely labeled data and data distribution shifts. We develop a deep learning framework—Meta Model Agnostic Pseudo Label Learning (MMAPLE)—to address these challenges by effectively exploring out-of-distribution (OOD) unlabeled data when conventional transfer learning fails. The uniqueness of MMAPLE is to integrate the concept of meta-learning, transfer learning and semi-supervised learning into a unified framework. The power of MMAPLE is demonstrated in three applications in an OOD setting where chemicals or proteins in unseen data are dramatically different from those in training data: predicting drug-target interactions, hidden human metabolite-enzyme interactions, and understudied interspecies microbiome metabolite-human receptor interactions. MMAPLE achieves 11% to 242% improvement in the prediction-recall on multiple OOD benchmarks over various base models. Using MMAPLE, we reveal novel interspecies metabolite-protein interactions that are validated by activity assays and fill in missing links in microbiome-human interactions. MMAPLE is a general framework to explore previously unrecognized biological domains beyond the reach of present experimental and computational techniques. The identification of antibody-specific epitopes on virus proteins is crucial for vaccine development and drug design. Nonetheless, traditional wet-lab approaches for the identification of epitopes are both costly and labor-intensive, underscoring the need for the development of efficient and cost-effective computational tools. Here, EpiScan, an attention-based deep learning framework for predicting antibody-specific epitopes, is presented. EpiScan adopts a multi-input and single-output strategy by designing independent blocks for different parts of antibodies, including variable heavy chain (VH), variable light chain (VL), complementary determining regions (CDRs), and framework regions (FRs). The block predictions are weighted and integrated for the prediction of potential epitopes. Using multiple experimental data samples, we show that EpiScan, which only uses antibody sequence information, can accurately map epitopes on specific antigen structures. The antibody-specific epitopes on the receptor binding domain (RBD) of SARS coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) were located by EpiScan, and the potentially valuable vaccine epitope was identified. With the exponential progress in the field of cheminformatics, the conventional modeling approaches have so far been to employ supervised and unsupervised machine learning (ML) and deep learning models, utilizing the standard molecular descriptors, which represent the structural, physicochemical, and electronic properties of a particular compound. Deviating from the conventional approach, in this investigation, we have employed the classification Read-Across Structure-Activity Relationship (c-RASAR), which involves the amalgamation of the concepts of classification-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) and Read-Across to incorporate Read-Across-derived similarity and error-based descriptors into a statistical and machine learning modeling framework. ML models developed from these RASAR descriptors use similarity-based information from the close source neighbors of a particular query compound. We have employed different classification modeling algorithms on the selected QSAR and RASAR descriptors to develop predictive models for efficient prediction of query compounds' hepatotoxicity. The predictivity of each of these models was evaluated on a large number of test set compounds. The best-performing model was also used to screen a true external data set. The concepts of explainable AI (XAI) coupled with Read-Across were used to interpret the contributions of the RASAR descriptors in the best c-RASAR model and to explain the chemical diversity in the dataset. The application of various unsupervised dimensionality reduction techniques like t-SNE and UMAP and the supervised ARKA framework showed the usefulness of the RASAR descriptors over the selected QSAR descriptors in their ability to group similar compounds, enhancing the modelability of the dataset and efficiently identifying activity cliffs. Furthermore, the activity cliffs were also identified from Read-Across by observing the nature of compounds constituting the nearest neighbors for a particular query compound. On comparing our simple linear c-RASAR model with the previously reported models developed using the same dataset derived from the US FDA Orange Book (https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/ob/index.cfm), it was observed that our model is simple, reproducible, transferable, and highly predictive. The multi-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is widely utilized in clinical diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac conditions. The advancement of deep learning has led to the emergence of automated multi-lead ECG diagnostic networks, which have become essential in the fields of biomedical engineering and clinical cardiac disease diagnosis. Intelligent ECG diagnosis techniques encompass Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Transformers, and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). While CNN is capable of extracting local spatial information from images, it lacks the ability to learn global spatial features and temporal memory features. Conversely, RNN relies on time and can retain significant sequential features. However, they are not proficient in extracting lengthy dependencies of sequence data in practical scenarios. The self-attention mechanism in the Transformer model has the capability of global feature extraction, but it does not adequately prioritize local features and cannot extract spatial and channel features. This paper proposes STFAC-ECGNet, a model that incorporates CAMV-RNN block, CBMV-CNN block, and TSEF block to enhance the performance of the model by integrating the strengths of CNN, RNN, and Transformer. The CAMV-RNN block incorporates a coordinated adaptive simplified self-attention module that adaptively carries out global sequence feature retention and enhances spatial–temporal information. The CBMV-CNN block integrates spatial and channel attentional mechanism modules in a skip connection, enabling the fusion of spatial and channel information. The TSEF block implements enhanced multi-scale fusion of image spatial and sequence temporal features. We report a novel deep learning (DL) method for classifying inorganic compounds using 3D electron density data. We transform Density Functional Theory (DFT)-derived CHGCAR files from the Materials Project (MP) and experimental data from the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD) into point clouds and sparse tensors, optimized for use in DL models such as PointNet and Sparse 3D CNN. This approach effectively overcomes the limitations of handling the dense 3D data, a common challenge in DL. Contrasting with traditional 1D or 2D X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns that necessitate complex reciprocal space analysis, our method utilizes 3D density data for direct interpretation in real lattice space. This shift significantly enhances classification accuracy, outperforming traditional XRD-driven DL methods. We achieve accuracies of 97.28%, 90.77%, and 90.10% for crystal system, extinction group, and space group classifications, respectively. The question of whether artificial intelligence (AI) can surpass human capabilities is crucial in the application of AI in clinical medicine. To explore this, an interpretable deep learning (DL) model was developed to assess myopia status using retinal refraction maps obtained with a novel peripheral refractor. The DL model demonstrated promising performance, achieving an AUC of 0.9074 (95% CI 0.83–0.97), an accuracy of 0.8140 (95% CI 0.70–0.93), a sensitivity of 0.7500 (95% CI 0.51–0.90), and a specificity of 0.8519 (95% CI 0.68–0.94). Grad-CAM analysis provided interpretable visualization of the attention of DL model and revealed that the DL model utilized information from the central retina, similar to human readers. Additionally, the model considered information from vertical regions across the central retina, which human readers had overlooked. This finding suggests that AI can indeed surpass human capabilities, bolstering our confidence in the use of AI in clinical practice, especially in new scenarios where prior human knowledge is limited. Large language models (LLMs) hold great promise in summarizing medical evidence. Most recent studies focus on the application of proprietary LLMs. Using proprietary LLMs introduces multiple risk factors, including a lack of transparency and vendor dependency. While open-source LLMs allow better transparency and customization, their performance falls short compared to the proprietary ones. In this study, we investigated to what extent fine-tuning open-source LLMs can further improve their performance. Utilizing a benchmark dataset, MedReview, consisting of 8161 pairs of systematic reviews and summaries, we fine-tuned three broadly-used, open-sourced LLMs, namely PRIMERA, LongT5, and Llama-2. Overall, the performance of open-source models was all improved after fine-tuning. The performance of fine-tuned LongT5 is close to GPT-3.5 with zero-shot settings. Furthermore, smaller fine-tuned models sometimes even demonstrated superior performance compared to larger zero-shot models. Scarcity of structural and evolutionary information on protein complexes poses a challenge to deep learning-based structure modelling. We integrate experimental distance restraints obtained by crosslinking mass spectrometry (MS) into AlphaFold-Multimer, by extending AlphaLink to protein complexes. Integrating crosslinking MS data substantially improves modelling performance on challenging targets, by helping to identify interfaces, focusing sampling, and improving model selection. This extends to single crosslinks from whole-cell crosslinking MS, opening the possibility of whole-cell structural investigations driven by experimental data. Distributed collaborative learning is a promising approach for building predictive models for privacy-sensitive biomedical images. Here, several data owners (clients) train a joint model without sharing their original data. However, concealed systematic biases can compromise model performance and fairness. This study presents MyThisYourThat (MyTH) approach, which adapts an interpretable prototypical part learning network to a distributed setting, enabling each client to visualize feature differences learned by others on their own image: comparing one client's 'This' with others' 'That'. Our setting demonstrates four clients collaboratively training two diagnostic classifiers on a benchmark X-ray dataset. Without data bias, the global model reaches 74.14% balanced accuracy for cardiomegaly and 74.08% for pleural effusion. We show that with systematic visual bias in one client, the performance of global models drops to near-random. Increasing the binding affinity of an antibody to its target antigen is a crucial task in antibody therapeutics development. This paper presents a pretrainable geometric graph neural network, GearBind, and explores its potential in in silico affinity maturation. Leveraging multi-relational graph construction, multi-level geometric message passing and contrastive pretraining on mass-scale, unlabeled protein structural data, GearBind outperforms previous state-of-the-art approaches on SKEMPI and an independent test set. A powerful ensemble model based on GearBind is then derived and used to successfully enhance the binding of two antibodies with distinct formats and target antigens. ELISA EC50 values of the designed antibody mutants are decreased by up to 17 fold, and KD values by up to 6.1 fold. Skin conditions are becoming increasingly prevalent across the world in current times. With the rise in dermatological disorders, there is a need for computerized techniques that are completely noninvasive to patients' skin. As a result, deep learning models have become standard for the computerized detection of skin diseases. The performance efficiency of these models improves with access to more data with their primary aim being image classification. In this paper, we present a skin disease detection methodology using image processing techniques, non-local means denoising and convolutional neural network (CNN) backed by sparse dictionary learning. Here, the major benefit of using NLM denoising followed by sparse dictionary learning with CNNs in image classification lies in leveraging a multi-stage approach that enhances the quality of input data, extracts meaningful and discriminative features, and improves the overall performance of the classification model. This combined approach addresses challenges such as noise robustness, feature extraction, and classification accuracy, making it particularly effective in complex image analysis tasks. For denoising, the average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) obtained for images from HAM-10000 dataset is 33.59 dB. For the ISIC-2019 dataset, the average PSNR for the train folder is 34.37 dB, and for the test folder it is 34.39 dB. The deep learning network is trained for the analysis of skin cancer images using a CNN model and is achieving acceptable results in classifying skin cancer types. This study analyzes YouTube thumbnails to identify key elements that distinguish different categories and attract viewers, specifically focusing on YouTubers in Thailand. Using a fine-tuned Convolutional Neural Network model named Xception, we classified images into food, IT, and travel categories with 88% accuracy. Object detection models identified visual objects in the thumbnails, and the combined classification and detection results were clustered into three groups using K-means. Analysis of each cluster led to category-specific recommendations for food, IT, and travel images. While our novel method of combining multimodal tabular and image features is applicable to various regions, it requires region-specific training data for optimal performance in object detection. While deep learning models have shown promising capabilities in ENSO prediction, their inherent black-box nature often leads to a lack of physical consistency and interpretability. Here, we introduce ENSO-PhyNet, a Transformer-based model for ENSO prediction, which incorporates heat budget dynamical processes through self-attention computations. The model predicts sea surface temperature (SST) in the equatorial Pacific and achieves skillful predictions of the Niño 3.4 index with a lead time of up to 22 months. The self-attention maps reveal how the model makes predictions by focusing on specific processes in certain regions. Case analyses of recent El Niño and La Niña events underscore the impact of thermocline feedback and zonal advection feedback on the warming of the 2015 event, as well as the crucial role of anomalous easterlies in the emergence of the second-year La Niña in 2021. Significant strides have been made in understanding El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) dynamics, yet its long-lead prediction remains challenging, especially for the El Niño events after 2000. Sea surface salinity (SSS) is known to affect ENSO development and intensity by influencing ocean stratification and heat redistribution and therefore, when combined with sea surface temperature (SST) data, can potentially enhance ENSO forecast skill. In this study, we develop a deep learning (DL) model that incorporates a multiscale-pyramid structure and spatiotemporal feature extraction blocks, and the model successfully extends effective ENSO forecast lead time to 24 months for 2000–2021 with reduced effect of the spring predictability barrier (SPB). Interpretable methods are then applied to reveal the time-dependent roles of SST and SSS in ENSO forecast. More specifically, SST is critical for short-medium lead forecasts (<1 year), while SSS is important for medium-long lead forecasts (>6 months). Furthermore, we track global SST and SSS spatiotemporal shifts related to subsequent ENSO development, highlighting the importance of ocean inter-basin and tropics-extratropics interactions. The Internet of Things (IoT) is now an essential component of our day-to-day lives. In any case, the association of various devices presents numerous security challenges in IoT. In some cases, ubiquitous data or traffic may be collected by certain smart devices which threatens the privacy of a source node location. To address this issue, a hybrid DL technique named Deep Q Learning Neural network (DQ-NN) is proposed for the Source Location Privacy (SLP) in IoT networks based on phantom routing. Here, an IoT network with multiple sources and destinations is considered first, and then the phantom node is chosen by analyzing neighbor list, energy, distance, and trust heterogeneity parameters. After that, multiple routes are created from the source node to the sink node via the phantom node. Finally, path selection is performed by the proposed DQ-NN. Moreover, DQ-NN is obtained by merging the Deep Q Learning Network (DQN) and Deep Neural Network (DNN). A simulation environment consisting of 150 nodes is created to study the effectiveness of performance and scalability. The medial temporal lobe (MTL) is a hotspot for neuropathology, and measurements of MTL atrophy are often used as a biomarker for cognitive decline associated with neurodegenerative disease. Due to the aggregation of multiple proteinopathies in this region, the specific relationship of MTL atrophy to distinct neuropathologies is not well understood. Here, we develop two quantitative algorithms using deep learning to measure phosphorylated tau (p-tau) and TDP-43 (pTDP-43) pathology, which are both known to accumulate in the MTL and are associated with MTL neurodegeneration. We focus on these pathologies in the context of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and limbic predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy (LATE) and apply our deep learning algorithms to distinct histology sections, on which MTL subregions were digitally annotated. We demonstrate that both quantitative pathology measures show high agreement with expert visual ratings of pathology and discriminate well between pathology stages. In 140 cases with antemortem MR imaging, we compare the association of semi-quantitative and quantitative postmortem measures of these pathologies in the hippocampus with in vivo structural measures of the MTL and its subregions. We find widespread associations of p-tau pathology with MTL subregional structural measures, whereas pTDP-43 pathology had more limited associations with the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex. Quantitative measurements of p-tau pathology resulted in a significantly better model of antemortem structural measures than semi-quantitative ratings and showed strong associations with cortical thickness and volume. By providing a more granular measure of pathology, the quantitative p-tau measures also showed a significant negative association with structure in a severe AD subgroup where semi-quantitative ratings displayed a ceiling effect. Our findings demonstrate the advantages of using quantitative neuropathology to understand the relationship of pathology to structure, particularly for p-tau, and motivate the use of quantitative pathology measurements in future studies. The ubiquitous presence of electronic devices demands robust hardware security mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information from threats. This paper presents a physical unclonable function (PUF) circuit based on magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM). The circuit utilizes inherent characteristics arising from fabrication variations, specifically magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) cell resistance, to produce corresponding outputs for applied challenges. In contrast to Arbiter PUF, the proposed effectively satisfies the strict avalanche criterion (SAC). Additionally, the grid-like structure of the proposed circuit preserves its resistance against machine learning-based modeling attacks. Various machine learning (ML) attacks employing multilayer perceptron (MLP), linear regression (LR), and support vector machine (SVM) networks are simulated for two-array and four-array architectures. The MLP-attack prediction accuracy was 53.61% for a two-array circuit and 49.87% for a four-array circuit, showcasing robust performance even under the worst-case process variations. In addition, deep learning-based modeling attacks in considerable high dimensions utilizing multiple networks such as convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), MLP, and Larq are used with the accuracy of 50.31%, 50.25%, 50.31%, and 50.31%, respectively. The efficiency of the proposed circuit at the layout level is also investigated for simplified two-array architecture. High-energy impacts, like vehicle crashes or falls, can lead to pelvic ring injuries. Rapid diagnosis and treatment are crucial due to the risks of severe bleeding and organ damage. Pelvic radiography promptly assesses fracture extent and location, but struggles to diagnose bleeding. The AO/OTA classification system grades pelvic instability, but its complexity limits its use in emergency settings. This study develops and evaluates a deep learning algorithm to classify pelvic fractures on radiographs per the AO/OTA system. Pelvic radiographs of 773 patients with pelvic fractures and 167 patients without pelvic fractures were retrospectively analyzed at a single center. Pelvic fractures were classified into types A, B, and C using medical records categorized by an orthopedic surgeon according to the AO/OTA classification system. Accuracy, Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), and F1 score were measured to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the deep learning algorithms. The segmentation model showed high performance with 0.98 accuracy and 0.96–0.97 DSC. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are globally installed in smart cities, which enable the next generation of ITS depending on the potential integration of autonomous and connected vehicles. Both technologies are being tested widely in various cities across the world. However, these two developing technologies are vital in allowing a fully automatic transportation system; it is necessary to automate other transportation and road components. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones are utilized for many surveillance applications in the ITS. Detecting on-ground vehicles in drone images is significant for disaster rescue operations, traffic and parking management, and navigating uneven territories. This study presents a flying foxes optimization with deep learning-based vehicle detection and classification model on aerial images (FFODL-VDCAI) technique for ITS application. The main objective of the FFODL-VDCAI technique is to automate and accurately classify vehicles that exist in aerial images. Three primary processes are involved in the presented FFODL-VDCAI technique. Initially, the FFODL-VDCAI approach utilizes YOLO-GD (Ghost-Net and Depthwise convolution) for vehicle detection, where the YOLO-GD uses lightweight Ghost Net in place on the backbone network of YOLO-v4 and interchanges the conventional convolutional with depthwise separable convolutional and pointwise convolutional. Next, the FFO technique is used for hyperparameter tuning the Ghost Net technique. Finally, a deep Q-network (DQN) based reinforcement learning technique is used to classify detected vehicles effectively. A comprehensive simulation analysis of the FFODL-VDCAI methodology is conducted on the UAV image dataset. Lung cancer (LC) is a life-threatening and dangerous disease all over the world. However, earlier diagnoses and treatment can save lives. Earlier diagnoses of malevolent cells in the lungs responsible for oxygenating the human body and expelling carbon dioxide due to significant procedures are critical. Even though a computed tomography (CT) scan is the best imaging approach in the healthcare sector, it is challenging for physicians to identify and interpret the tumour from CT scans. LC diagnosis in CT scan using artificial intelligence (AI) can help radiologists in earlier diagnoses, enhance performance, and decrease false negatives. Deep learning (DL) for detecting lymph node contribution on histopathological slides has become popular due to its great significance in patient diagnoses and treatment. This study introduces a computer-aided diagnosis for LC by utilizing the Waterwheel Plant Algorithm with DL (CADLC-WWPADL) approach. The primary aim of the CADLC-WWPADL approach is to classify and identify the existence of LC on CT scans. The CADLC-WWPADL method uses a lightweight MobileNet model for feature extraction. Besides, the CADLC-WWPADL method employs WWPA for the hyperparameter tuning process. Furthermore, the symmetrical autoencoder (SAE) model is utilized for classification. An investigational evaluation is performed to demonstrate the significant detection outputs of the CADLC-WWPADL technique. An extensive comparative study reported that the CADLC-WWPADL technique effectively performs with other models with a maximum accuracy of 99.05% under the benchmark CT image dataset. Although live streaming is indispensable, live-streaming e-business requires accurate and timely sales-volume prediction to ensure a healthy supply–demand balance for companies. Practically, because various factors can significantly impact sales results, the development of a powerful, interpretable model is crucial for accurate sales prediction. In this study, we propose SaleNet, a deep-learning model designed for sales-volume prediction. Our model achieved correct prediction results on our private, real operating data. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of our model's performance fell as low as 11.47% for a + 1.5-days forecast. Even for a 1-week forecast (+ 6 days), the MAPE was only 19.79%, meeting actual business needs and practical requirements. Notably, our model demonstrated robust interpretability, as evidenced by the feature contribution results which are consistent with prevailing research findings and industry expertise. Our findings provided a theoretical foundation for predicting shopping behavior in live-broadcast e-commerce and offered valuable insights for designing live-broadcast content and optimizing the user experience. Alzheimer's Disease (AD) causes slow death in brain cells due to shrinkage of brain cells which is more prevalent in older people. In most cases, the symptoms of AD are mistaken as age-related stresses. The most widely utilized method to detect AD is Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Along with Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, the efficacy of identifying diseases related to the brain has become easier. But, the identical phenotype makes it challenging to identify the disease from the neuro-images. Hence, a deep learning method to detect AD at the beginning stage is suggested in this work. The newly implemented "Enhanced Residual Attention with Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) (ERABi-LNet)" is used in the detection phase to identify the AD from the MRI images. This model is used for enhancing the performance of the Alzheimer's detection in scale of 2–5%, minimizing the error rates, increasing the balance of the model, so that the multi-class problems are supported. At first, MRI images are given to "Residual Attention Network (RAN)", which is specially developed with three convolutional layers, namely atrous, dilated and Depth-Wise Separable (DWS), to obtain the relevant attributes. The most appropriate attributes are determined by these layers, and subjected to target-based fusion. Then the fused attributes are fed into the "Attention-based Bi-LSTM". The final outcome is obtained from this unit. The detection efficiency based on median is 26.37% and accuracy is 97.367% obtained by tuning the parameters in the ERABi-LNet with the help of Modified Search and Rescue Operations (MCDMR-SRO). The obtained results are compared with ROA-ERABi-LNet, EOO-ERABi-LNet, GTBO-ERABi-LNet and SRO-ERABi-LNet respectively. The ERABi_LNet thus provides enhanced accuracy and other performance metrics compared to such deep learning models. The proposed method has the better sensitivity, specificity, F1-Score and False Positive Rate compared with all the above mentioned competing models with values such as 97.49%.97.84%,97.74% and 2.616 respective;y. Stroke, the second leading cause of mortality globally, predominantly results from ischemic conditions. Immediate attention and diagnosis, related to the characterization of brain lesions, play a crucial role in patient prognosis. Standard stroke protocols include an initial evaluation from a non-contrast CT to discriminate between hemorrhage and ischemia. However, non-contrast CTs lack sensitivity in detecting subtle ischemic changes in this phase. Alternatively, diffusion-weighted MRI studies provide enhanced capabilities, yet are constrained by limited availability and higher costs. Hence, we idealize new approaches that integrate ADC stroke lesion findings into CT, to enhance the analysis and accelerate stroke patient management. This study details a public challenge where scientists applied top computational strategies to delineate stroke lesions on CT scans, utilizing paired ADC information. Also, it constitutes the first effort to build a paired dataset with NCCT and ADC studies of acute ischemic stroke patients. Submitted algorithms were validated with respect to the references of two expert radiologists. The best achieved Dice score was 0.2 over a test study with 36 patient studies. Despite all the teams employing specialized deep learning tools, results reveal limitations of computational approaches to support the segmentation of small lesions with heterogeneous density. In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the field of smart greenhouses, particularly in the application of computer vision and robotics for pollinating flowers. Robotic pollination offers several benefits, including reduced labor requirements and preservation of costly pollen through artificial tomato pollination. However, previous studies have primarily focused on the labeling and detection of tomato flowers alone. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a comprehensive methodology for simultaneously labeling, training, and detecting tomato flowers specifically tailored for robotic pollination. To achieve this, transfer learning techniques were employed using well-known models, namely YOLOv5 and the recently introduced YOLOv8, for tomato flower detection. The performance of both models was evaluated using the same image dataset, and a comparison was made based on their Average Precision (AP) scores to determine the superior model. The results indicated that YOLOv8 achieved a higher mean AP (mAP) of 92.6% in tomato flower and bud detection, outperforming YOLOv5 with 91.2%. Notably, YOLOv8 also demonstrated an inference speed of 0.7 ms when considering an image size of 1920 × 1080 pixels resized to 640 × 640 pixels during detection. The image dataset was acquired during both morning and evening periods to minimize the impact of lighting conditions on the detection model. These findings highlight the potential of YOLOv8 for real-time detection of tomato flowers and buds, enabling further estimation of flower blooming peaks and facilitating robotic pollination. In the context of robotic pollination, the study also focuses on the deployment of the proposed detection model on the 3P2R gantry robot. The study introduces a kinematic model and a modified circuit for the gantry robot. The position-based visual servoing method is employed to approach the detected flower during the pollination process. The effectiveness of the proposed visual servoing approach is validated in both un-clustered and clustered plant environments in the laboratory setting. Additionally, this study provides valuable theoretical and practical insights for specialists in the field of greenhouse systems, particularly in the design of flower detection algorithms using computer vision and its deployment in robotic systems used in greenhouses.
